The road show includes a collection of red designer dresses worn by celebrities, including Ana Ortiz, Jenna Fischer, Vanessa Williams and Heidi Klum. A separate dress worn by Klum at the Academy Awards is part of a sweepstakes at www.mycokerewards.com to raise money for women's heart research and awareness.
The tour also includes free heart health screenings and educational information on heart disease.
The red dresses and accompanying Diet Coke ads should help get attention for the campaign, but the key part of the tour is getting women to take the heart screenings, said Katie Bayne, senior vice president and chief marketing officer for Coca-Cola North America.
"It's about bringing the wonderful information about how to live a heart healthy life to people," Bayne said at a preview event Thursday night for the Atlanta stop.
Ann Holmes-Hulett, support network coordinator for WomenHeart of Macon, said women often do not realize risks to their heart until its too late. Holmes-Hulett, also at the Thursday night event, is a heart disease patient who's undergone multiple surgeries to repair blocked arteries.
"Your HDL, your LDL and your triglyceride numbers are just as important as your cell phone number and Social Security number, if not more important," Holmes-Hulett said.
