The Fulton County school system has announced its outstanding elementary, middle, and high school teachers of the year.
Rebecca Perkins, an English teacher at Alpharetta High School, is the high school and overall teacher of the year.
Ellen Hungerford from River Eves Elementary School is the elementary teacher of the year, and Nick Cassidy from Haynes Bridge Middle School is the middle school teacher of the year.
In addition, support employees of the year were named for each school and administrative building. Lorenzo Combs, a school resource officer at Holcomb Bridge Middle School, is the school professional of the year, and Lillie Ford, an application processing specialist in the school system's human resources division, is the support professional of the year.
Every spring, schools are invited to nominate outstanding educators based on teacher, staff and parent input. Those nominated are evaluated a second time, and one outstanding elementary, middle, and high school teacher of the year is announced. From the final three, one is chosen as the overall teacher of the year.
Here are the 2008-09 employees of the year for Fulton County schools. The first name is the teacher of the year and the second is the professional of the year.
