Want to see someone throw a tantrum and score points for it?

Come to this weekend's MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour in Acworth, where a tantrum is a back flip over the wake.

Riders also will do flips and spins and hit the rails on Lake Allatoona while an expected 8,000 to 10,000 spectators watch from the beach or boats.

Brothers Chris and Kevin King are wakeboarding rookies who hope to soak up some pointers.

"When we watch the pros wipe out, we don't feel so bad when we do it," said Kevin, 36, of Marietta. "We say, 'Hey, he does face plants just like I do.' "

Wakeboarding, which began during the 1980s, bills itself as the fastest-growing board sport in the world, beating out skateboard, surfboard and snowboard. It combines aspects of all of those sports, plus water skiing, with an X-Games mentality.

"It's kind of a meld of everything tied into summer fun —- hang out on the boat, catch some rays and have a good time," said Zane Schwenk, 32, a 15-year tour veteran. "We're growing at a tremendous rate."

Acworth is the smallest of the five cities on the pro tour.

"Acworth blows it up for us," Schwenk said. "They're so accommodating. We're not too rowdy, but we're a little rowdy."

Schwenk's brother, Tripp, was an Olympic swimmer at the 1996 Atlanta Games.

"He's good in the water," Schwenk said, "and I'm trying to stay out of the water."

If he does a face plant, the King brothers can relate.
