Kennedy’s Peace Corps needed in many ways
Whatever happened to President Kennedy’s Peace Corps?
It is needed now to go to Haiti, to teach young people not to have children until they are adults, and married; to start planting trees of all kinds; how to plant and take care of vegetables; to raise chickens; how to catch and conserve water; and to get boats for fishing.
To quote President Kennedy, “Let us begin.”

Who will bar injured from emergency room?
Regarding “ ‘Moral hazard’ in political world is not very moral” (Opinion, Aug. 31): In Thomas Sowell’s America, emergency rooms will no longer treat people who are uninsured and unable to pay. Who will stand at the door and turn away the ambulances arriving with injured accident victims?

Fox board of directors recognizes aging issues
How sad that Joe Patten, in a fit of fearful anger, now regrets his efforts that helped save the Fox Theatre from destruction — the same place where he has lived rent-free, thanks in part to those of us who pay to see the wonderful shows there.
The Fox Theatre board knows that they have a challenge. As a man who has recently dealt with the complex issues of aging parents, I’m relieved to hear that the Fox board of directors understands the challenges of hosting and housing an elderly man. There is no question in my mind that the leaders at the Fox are fully committed to Patten’s well-being, despite his misguided anger.

If someone needs to go, it’s not Joe Patten
Woody White, president of Atlanta Landmarks, and Allan Vella, Fox general manager, should beware the ire of us old folks. Years ago, we stood behind Joe Patten with our time, energy, money and persistence until we stared down the wrecking ball. We’re still here, and we understand the irreplaceable value of Joe Patten’s wisdom, history and dedication.
We also understand the meaning of a simple lease giving Joe the right to live in the theater’s apartment for the rest of his life. It may be that someone needs to go — but it’s not Joe.

Media should stand up for people or be charged
Democrats are dumbfounded as to why infusing over a trillion dollars into the economy hasn’t made things better — instead, they’re worse.
Socialistic-Marxist-Keynesian economic theory has never worked and never will. It’s been used by despots and elitists as a way to “distribute the wealth” to “friends of the state” and assume control over the people.
What a great country. Where else can politicians steal from the taxpayer so blatantly, and have the media cheer about it? Those in the media who didn’t and won’t stand up and scream out for the people should be criminally charged.
