The Obama Infomercial
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
“Does anyone know if Ron Popeil’s Ronco knives set as good as advertised in the Infomercial?” a potential purchaser asked on Yahoo.
The response was vague. Sort of: If you have doubts, that answers your questions.
Spending an estimated three million dollars on a Ginsu-knife-like Infomercial, Barack Obama reminded America that he’s an over-the-top kind of guy, excessive, pompous and eminently phony. The Oval Office-like set for Wednesday night’s Infomercial is, in the manner of Barack Obama, entirely too much. It’s cheesy.
The narratives, too, are Hollywood goes presidential. The story-line here is that if you can tell a story memorably, people can be led to any emotion or any action — including voting for the narrator as President of the United States.
This is an example of what happens when there’s too much money in politics. Obama spent an estimated three million dollars on a phony Oval Office Infomercial to convince the nation that he’s as capable as anybody on West Wing of leading the nation. And that’s probably true.
There’s way too much money in politics. He’s a guy who may spend three-quarters of a billion dollars or more on politics, on a campaign to win public office, a guy who has so much money that he can afford to spend $3 million on an Infomercial set in a pretend Oval Office.
Are we headed for the Ronco Presidency, the ginsu-knife Infomercial to sell the presidency in the same way we sell Chinese kitchen gadgets? Heaven help us if this is what the national debate over the Future of America has become.
The guy with the fake Presidential Seal has addressed the nation from the fake Oval Office in a Infomercial fake. God save us.

I have to say that as a European viewer (I’m Irish) of the Obama infomercial it made me cringe. I hope Obama wins the election, but seriously does this guy have any taste? Or even common sense? The phoney presidential seal, the greco/roman columns and now the phoney oval office … surely this will turn more people off than on? I agree entirely with Mr Wooten when a candiate can spend the bones of a billion dollars on a campaign (enough money to literally run a small country for a year) then you know you’ve got a problem ….

I can’t stand it when those gosh darn communists engage in capitalist behavior, buying up TV advertisements and raising money. Gee wizz, I wish he would stick to his Marxist beliefs! I mean honestly, I find analogies to dogs with lipstick, endearingly calling me friend, and pandering to the right wing base with someone who, gosh darnnit, is just as sharp as a pool ball —- far less hokey than “talking past the filter of the liberal media.” Yup, you betcha!

The infomercial answered the questions - what is he going to do, how is he going to do it, what are his motives…
We can keep on slinging insults at each other or we can decide our country is too valuable to waste and start acting like people that can work together.
We have the opportunity to elect a once in a lifetime type leader. Don’t let the republicans ruin that for us too.

Wow!!Look at what I found!!Another old and tired HATER. As a 73 year old Korean war veteran, I find people who write things like this to be beneath contempt. What did you write about Sarah Palin, a women who was picked by Mccain despite the fact that she lacks any intellectual qualities whatsoever and who has helped to ensure that Mccain loses. You are, as are so many of Obama’s critics an old and bitter man. What will you do when BHO wins? You should go to the Church of Scalia and Thomas and Alito and Roberts and ask for divine guidance. They are, like you and Bush and Cheney are people without soul or compassion or care for anyone that they do not like. Obama is not the savior that will rescue the USA but he is a caring and decent man who would not have left his sick wife for another woman. GFY!!!

You guys sound scared! Halloween is here and the spooks must be getting to you, one spook in particular Barack Obama (racial pun intended but I am not a racist just a comic.lol ).. If you are wondering why the Republicans are getting the boot, you do not have to look far. It is the rants like this post and the smears and total lies that this campaign and the Republicans chose to use instead of actually having an intelligent plan for the future and presenting a campaign of hope for the future. McCain had bad advise as he is not at all like he has portrayed himself this last year. He should have been himself (his pre-2007 self). I make well over 250,000 a year and am not happy with taxes but I think I can afford to do my part for my country. Health Care needs to be fixed for all to have access and the Republicans are just flat against it. 5000$ in McCain’s plan is a #$&ing joke! The Socialist charges are just as ridiculous as Obama’s plan does not have any State run hospitals or State paid Doctors, nothing of the sort is in Obama’s plans. They are doable and it is too bad you guys didn’t think about it first! I spend a fortune on my employees health care and cant make a decent profit anymore. This helps business immensely. This was a bad campaign from the start. Republicans should hide for next eight years out of shame!

If you think that Bush did not raise your taxes, then look at the deficit, who will pay it? You. The war in Iraq costs 343 million a day. What if we put that into education per year? What if we spent that on helth care? Oh ,then we cant afford it. If you think that starting wars is more important than putting more money into schools for kids, then you are morally screwed. If you think that when McCain kicks the bucket that Palin could do the job then you are delusional and should be put in a mental institution. Republicans, your own party sold you out. I tuned in expecting to see FDR and/or JFK and instead saw a bad toothpaste ad featuring Senator Obama trying to look presidential in a fake presidential office (at least there wasn’t a fake seal).
Ask not what you can do for your country? Heck no…it was ask what you can do for ME. (and with money which could have fed and housed New Orleans for two months after Katrina one would have thought that they would have selected background music that was less grating and annoying).
It was horrible..just a horrible mix of old campaign ads and footage, some real commercials, and 3 minutes of some rally somewhere. I am embarrassed for him and now I wonder, who is this guy? I have no idea who he is, what he stands for or what he will do. I see the same ignorant arrogance and hubris as Bush. His arrogance and hubris scare me. I thought I could vote for him. I cannot vote for him.
And where was Gore, Kennedy, Kerry, Hlllary, Caroline, Harold Ford, Colin Powell, Bill Weld and Lincoln Chafee?

As someone in the Obama camp, I was very disappointed tonight. It was overproduced, over-the-top, and reminded me of those late-night infomercials with a cheesy host selling a cheap product that does all things for all people. How about some reality? What I would like to hear is someone with a plan to reduce the deficit, control spending, get us out of the Middle East…and treat those issues seriously and sincerely. Instead it was pure pandering for votes with promises he can not keep. We are in dire financial trouble with no quick fix. He can’t do everything he is promising without putting us further in debt. He is promising young people college education, but sticking them and their children and their children’s children with even more debt. I hate when they pick some down-on-their luck soul and sensationalize it. These people are used to garner sympathy and votes, plain and simple. Is Obama, or any politician who uses this tactic, going to be checking on any of these folks in a year? Every time a politician, Democrat or Republican, calls these people by their first names like they are old friends, I just want to vomit. Part of that $3 million he spent in 30 minutes sure could have done these folks some good. Same old thing, different package. Everyone in Washington is responsible for this mess. The only silver lining recently was the guilty verdict for Ted Stevens. I hope this is the first of many corrupt politicians getting exposed.

As I am sitting here reading your article, and the truth in it.I am also watching the John McCain movie “Faith of my Fathers”.I cant help but wonder where this country went wrong,or when it made such a sharp downhill turn to the left? How have we gotten to a point where the people in this country would choose a coward to lead this great country over a man who gave such a great part of his life in the service of the country that he loved. How do you explain that one to your children, especially when you do your best to teach them to be honorable, truthful and that being deceitful gets you no where in life?Well maybe it does get you somewhere,if your name is obama.Thank you for listening.

Jim who cares about this OBAMA boy, Sara is our Gal. Going to have some minor surgery today so I’ll miss you tomorrow.. DO YOUR JOB & WRITE ABOUT OUR NEXT VP.
Parsing Palin’s ‘For Naught’ By Julie Bosman LOUISVILLE — A senior adviser to Gov. Sarah Palin delivered a late-night tongue-lashing to the news media on Wednesday, protesting ABC News’s characterization of an interview with Ms. Palin as evidence of her 2012 presidential aspirations.
The interview was promoted on ABCNews.com on Wednesday afternoon with selected excerpts and the headline, “Sarah Palin Vows to Remain Player in 2012: ‘Not Doing This For Naught.’ ”
After the full transcript was released, revealing that the headline was misleading, ABC later amended its release to read, “Sarah Palin: ‘Not Doing This For Naught.’ ”
But it was too late for the cable news networks, which quickly seized on the report, as did wire services and some newspapers, all of whom repeated the error.
Tucker Eskew, the adviser to Ms. Palin, spoke to reporters aboard the campaign plane after Ms. Palin had left a campaign rally in Indiana that drew 16,000 people.
After explaining ABC News’s mistake, which he called “a terrifically misleading headline,” and acknowledging that the network had apologized, Mr. Eskew offered his own critique.
“That mistake was then compounded,” he said. “I think it was compounded by some of the other coverage, and if you will bear with me, I’ll get to that in a minute.”
“It’s just, I think, beyond the pale. I think it’s a time for us, as this campaign builds an occasionally acknowledged but real momentum toward a very fast-approaching deadline of Election Day, that this record get corrected. Get corrected very directly, and that some standards of fairness and accuracy be met.”
When Ms. Palin learned how the interview had been characterized, she wanted to make sure it had been corrected, Mr. Eskew said.
“She felt there was an error,” he said. “She was curious about how it was getting fixed. And then she turned back to what she was doing, six or seven other things at once. She’s fine.”
He compared the media treatment of Ms. Palin to that of Bill and Hillary Rodham Clinton, who have had notoriously rocky relations with the press.
“The list of those distortions and attacks go beyond any witnessed by, even, I think, the most immediate member of the Clinton family. It is overwhelming to observers, but not to Sarah Palin. You’ll find her knocked around and unbowed.”
Asked what Ms. Palin’s plans for 2012 are, Mr. Eskew said only, “To help John McCain and his re-election.”

If the war/surge is such a success why isn’t Bo Chambliss in Iraq instead of making all the country club booze parties in D.C.? What’s going to happen to that “surge success” when the Shiite militia calls of the cease fire and the thousands of Sunni insurgents (aka the “CLC”) we are paying millions to get tired of fighting for a country they hate, and there is still no political progress on the most significant contentious issues?
Some 70,000 former insurgents are now being paid $10 a day by the U.S. military. It costs about a quarter billion dollars a year in the three trillion dollar fiasco that’s helping to usher in Depression II.
Ole Saxbuh voted 99% with Bushie in the last eight years. His pronouncements during the passage of the illegal wiretapping debacle were simply false statements meant to take advantage of an indifferent and uneducated populace who is getting the democracy they deserve including the bills Bo writes for the Chicago Mercantile exchange.
Saxby still flies Corporate Jet Air free on company owned planes in a familiar quid pro quo.
“It leaves when you want to leave. It goes where you want it to go when you want it to go there. You don’t have to go through the normal security, and you get a lot more than peanuts.”
Little Bo is a recipient of this largess as well.
A spokesman for US Tobacco, Mike Bazinet, said that it received more requests for planes than it could fulfill and that it generally sent a representative on the flights. A spokeswoman for Federal Express, Kristin Krause, said it was policy to do just that. Ms. Krause rejected the notion that FedEx lobbyists had undue access.
“The way you get there is less important than what you do while you’re there,” said Mr. Chambliss, who spent more on corporate jet travel than any other incumbent senator, the Political Money Line said.
Mr. Chambliss said he never spoke to a lobbyist “about any particular issue” on his trips.
I wasn’t on the plane, but ole Saxbuh flew for free on corporate jets than any other Senatuh.
Here’s lookin at ya Bo and Saxbuh:
Saxby the Sugar Stooge. One of the biggest corporate stooges in the Senate, Saxby took corporate loyalty to a new level at a Senate hearing on Friday.
Based on his demeanor at a Senate hearing on Friday you would think Saxby owned Imperial Sugar Company.Well maybe Imperial Sugar owns him.
Saxby is arguing that a “whistleblower” is responsible for a February explosion that killed 13 people at the Imperial Sugar company plant in Port Wentworth, Georgia. Keep in mind that Graham. H. Graham (the man being questioned) had only worked at the plant for three months, while others allege years of safety violations.
Let’s follow the quotes and then follow the money and even Saxby’s son ,the corporate lobbyist, and his connections:
The Article in the Houston Chronicle says
“Chambliss also said he has not been influenced by any lobbyists for the Sugar Land, Texas-based company or by his son, Bo. The younger Chambliss is an in-house Washington lobbyist for the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, which also is represented by an outside firm that lobbies for Imperial Sugar. “My purpose has been to try to get the facts out,” Chambliss said. “This guy (Graham) is an agent of the company. How anybody can interpret that I’m doing something for the benefit of the company when really I’m chastising their agent is beyond me … The company’s got to stand on their own. I’m not about to defend them in any way.”
However that is countered by Graham and his attorneys as well as the other Georgia Senator Johnny Isakson.
“Hilder and others have accused Chambliss of doing the company’s bidding on Tuesday when he sharply questioned Graham at a Senate hearing. Chambliss’ questions raised eyebrows because no one aside from Imperial had publicly doubted Graham’s claims. That includes Chambliss’ fellow Georgia Republican, Johnny Isakson. The two rarely split, but Isakson says he has full faith in Graham’s account.”
Let’s follow the money for a second
This might show a little inisght as to why the questions of bias arise.
Look at Imperial Sugar’s PAC $1,000 to Saxby Chambliss this cycle- $2,000 of which was contributed by John Sheptor
John Sheptor is President and CEO of Imperial Sugar who is compensated quite handsomely.
There are several others with ties to Imperial Sugar that have contributed to the PAC Harold Mechler - CFO is a $500 Contributor to the PAC
Gaylord Coan - $1,000 contributor to the PAC is a director
(Apparently Savannah Congressman John Barrow returned some of the money he was given by Imperial and he’s not even questioning them at a Senate hearing)
Saxby Chambliss has received $21k from the Sugar industry this cycle.
Saxby Chambliss has a son Bo Chambliss who works for the Chicago Mercantile Exchange as a registered lobbyist (the quote is correct there)
Clarence “Bo” Saxby Chambliss has given $2,000 to the Chicago Mercantile PAC.
The Chicago Mercantile lobbyist works on behalf of several companies with ties to the Sugar Industry.
Googling lobbying and CME, we found one article that shows that
The Chicago Mercantile Exchange is employing the son of Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) to lobby members of his father’s congressional committee and other lawmakers on legislation that may increase trading at the exchange. Clarence Saxby “Bo” Chambliss Jr. is one of two staff lobbyists at the Merc charged with “providing information on issues that impact our industry to decision-makers in Washington,” Merc spokesman David Prosperi said Friday. Saxby Chambliss heads the Senate Agriculture Committee, which jointly oversees the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and must this year pass legislation reauthorizing the futures regulator through 2011. The CFTC’s current authority expires Sept. 30. The panel may vote as early as this month on a bill to reauthorize the CFTC, said a committee spokesman.
Now there isn’t much recusing Bo Chambliss can do with one other lobbyist unless that lobbyist is doing the heavy lifting while Bo is giving mulligans to Judge Smails
Probably not much of a stretch to say that Saxby has some questions to answer about his claim that he is not biased. We will keep searching to see if we can find more connections between Saxby and Imperial Sugar. Or we will let you know if Saxby follows suit of John Barrow and returns the PAC contributions. Conclusion: Saxby Chambliss needs to go home or get a job at some Sugar Refinery (Remember what he did to Max Cleeland) and remember Saxbuh faked a knee injury that was not examined with any modern degree of medical competence and Bo chooses not to serve like so many other Republican cowards.

Ethics complaint filed against Palin
An ethics complaint has been filed against Sarah Palin, accusing the Alaska governor of abusing her power by charging the state when her children traveled with her.
The complaint, filed by Frank Gwartney, a Democrat from Anchorage, alleges that she used her official position as governor for personal gain, violating a statute of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act.
It follows a report last week that Palin charged the state more than $21,000 for her three daughters’ commercial flights, including events where they weren’t invited, and later ordered their expense forms amended to specify official state business.
In some cases, Palin also has charged the state for hotel rooms for the girls.

Sign at a zoo: This animal is dangerous. When cornered, it will defend itself.
So you can’t understand why millions of Americans would reject McCain and vote for Obama?
Look around you. A tax system that’s outrageously tilted in favor of the wealthy. A political philosophy that views workers and jobs as mere commodities to be held or dispensed with at the whim of the capitalist. An almost complete denial of any government role in alleviating sickness and misery.
You’ve cornered the animal, Republicans. Now, when you’re about to be torn to pieces, don’t express amazement that it will defend itself.

In a way, Obama should thank McCain. Barack spends his campaign money talking about himself and his platform…
and McCain spends all HIS time talking about Obama and Obama’s platform. Because he sure as heck can’t come up with any reason for people to vote for him instead.

Good morning all. No, I didn’t bother. I haven’t watched President Bush speak since 2001 or so, and he is a real president. I cannot abide the deceptions in Chauncey’s pronouncements, so I won’t watch him either.
But, who says there is no good Obama humor? We can always rely on Penn and Teller.
Swaminathan S. Anklesaria Aiyar writing in the Times of India: Barack Obama looks certain to beat John McCain and become the next U.S. president. Most Indians will be delighted. An Obama victory will symbolise the vanquishing of racism and the dismal Bush legacy. Besides, McCain is a military hawk, especially on Iraq. Obama is not exactly a dove, but is far less a military adventurer than McCain, and is preferred by Indians on this score too. Yet, a look at the voting record and campaign content of the two candidates suggests that McCain might in many ways be better for India than Obama, especially on economic issues.
A nasty global recession has begun. Nouriel Roubini of New York University predicts we will suffer the worst economic downswing since the Great Depression. So, pressures will mount for protectionist measures and beggar-thy-neighbour policies in the U.S., hurting countries like India. Apart from erecting import barriers and subsidising dumped exports, U.S. politicians will seek to curb the outsourcing of services to India. Visa curbs will slow the movement of skilled workers and their dollar remittances back to India. McCain is one of the few American politicians in either party with the courage and conviction to stand up to protectionist populism. By contrast, Obama embodies protectionism.

There’s nothing as dangerous that our nation is facing as the unbalance of power that a far left Democrat monopoly on power will bring. Comrade Obama will be able to shove his Marxist schemes right down our throats with the help of the radicals of the Democratic party. The out numbered Republicans will not have much input to prevent Obama’s run away government from TAXING us to death and muzzling people that object to Obama’s stupidity. If you believe that the rich alone can fund Barack Obama’s massive Marxist TAKE FROM and REDISTRIBUTE programs, then you will be sadly illuminated if Comrade Obama gets into office. There is a bottom to every well and Comrade Obama and his tax collectors will come for the middle class people’s hard earned money too. Barack Obama is currently sponsoring US Senate Bill S2433 (Obama’s first Marxist Act) and if passed (and it will be if Obama is elected and there is total Democrat control), it will cost America 845 Billion in ADDITIONAL taxes. The money that is squeezed out of you and me for Obama’s S2433 will be given to the corrupt United Nations, specifically for “The UN Global Poverty Act”. Your money will then be REDISTRIBUTED to third world dictators. This can be verified, Google “Obama’s S2433”. Obama is eliminating the reduction on the death inheritance tax that President Bush implemented. Comrade Obama plans to take your inheritance and REDISTRIBUTE it. Obama has vowed to double the capital gains tax so if you have bought property as an investment, kiss your profit line goodbye. Obama will REDISTRIBUTE it. With at least 845 Billion going out of our nations coffers to be REDISTRIBUTED to third world despots, there is no way the rich can satisfy Obama’s lust for more, more, more TAX money. S2433 is only one of many of Comrade Obama’s great Marxist schemes with many more to come. Without the power to filibuster Democratic abuses of power and/or a Republican President to veto the Democrat craziness, our taxes will rise beyond the moon and our right of freedom of speech will be in danger (Fairness Doctrine). Comrade Obama and his Marxist allies will have their way with you and me.

Well, I settled down to watch some TV last night and one of Those People come on and started talking and I was waiting to see what he was pitching and decide weather I wanted to buy it. Anyhow, it took almost 20 minutes before I learned he was pitching hisself and it was this Obama guy. Soon as I learned that I turned my back to the TV like I always do when somebody is saying something I don’t agree with.
There ought to be a law against politicans buying 30 straight minutes of commercials and getting in the way of Fox News, which is the only fair and balanced news there is.
I was all for a politican taking in lots of money and putting out ads back when it was the Republicans doing it. Now the librul Democrats are doing it and it’s disgusting. So I say ban these infomercials, leastwise till the Republicans are able to take in enough money to do them. We are already in for a big butt-whomping, we don’t need 30 minute ads to make it worse.
So I’m with Wooten. Unless I find out he lied to us back when he said GA wasn’t in play. If it turns out GA is in play, I’m starting out a campaign for the AJC to fire the old coot and bring in a younger Republican with more sense.

Johnny Neptune, I’m surprised at you. Palin has done a great service to this country by changing the paradigm from glass ceiling to mirrored floors, skirts preferred, and lose the panties.
Also, Bush did not win the election in 04. There is a man serving prison time for his role in voter fraud in Ohio. Kerry won Ohio and the election, but refused, like Gore refused, to put the country through a gauntlet of bitterness and recriminations and a constitutional wringing out.
Conservatism is dead. The Supreme Court kept it alive with life support, breathing tubes, the fog of war, and prayers to their old testament/new testament God: Money, cronyism, and corruption. (and nepotism, favoritism, grandfathering-in, and the occasional visit from Luka Bratzi).
We are slaves and there’s a new Lincoln in town, and, like the new black jesus, the new lincoln is black, and black dont crack under pressure from the cracker-jacks.
So we get a new black jesus, and new black lincoln, and a new black Camelot, exceptin it be more like The Wiz. (ease on down ease on down the road to the white house, baby)
What conservatives will do after Obama is prez is what they did to Clinton: create an atmosphere so vile and hateful that our country will evolve the way all hate-regimes evolve: into chaos. After Lewinski, the conservatives went after Clinton, but instead of hate, it was a shame campaign, where they aired out his sin, which ended up becoming part of the middle school zeitgeist, and soon, every fifth grader was contemplating oral sex as non sex and a path to popularity and cool. the conservatives did that because it was a path to popularity and cool, (and the white house).
They used righteous indignation to induce sodomy into our children’s lives. You couldn’t watch ten minutes of television without hearing a reference to oral sex on our supreme leader and commander in chief. The word “Lewinski” itself is now in the dictionary and accompanied by a computer simulation of a BJ. (along with a “dont try this at home without a helmet, kids” caveat). Fact. Funk and F*’s 2008 edition.
I hope you investors bought when I told you to on tuesday. I think you know my reputation as a timely advisor. You can safely cost average through the rest of the year now. Even if we test the bottom again, it dont matter. Cisco was 16 bucks for a while. It’s worth 24 easy. It’s your money.

Palin children’s travel expenses draw official complaint in Alaska
By Kyle Hopkins | Anchorage Daily News A new complaint accuses Gov. Sarah Palin of breaking state ethics rules by charging the state for her kids’ airline tickets to various events.
Frank Gwartney, a retired electrical power lineman from Anchorage, filed the complaint with the attorney general Friday. The state Personnel Board — which is currently investigating the governor’s firing of her former public safety officer — will review this accusation too.
“It’s just such a blatant misuse of state money,” Gwartney said Wednesday.
Palin’s office says the state considers the kids’ publicly funded travel as official First Family business and that Palin only takes her kids to events they’re invited to.
The Washington Post and Daily News reported in early September that the state has spent tens of thousands of dollars on Palin family travel. The topic grabbed headlines again last week when The Associated Press reported that the state paid $21,000 for commercial flights for Palin’s daughters.
Some event organizers were surprised to see the children arrive, or agreed to a request from the governor to allow them to attend, the AP reported.

Wooten, you’re such a whiner. As if McCain wouldn’t do the same thing - if he had the funds, that is. But folks aren’t sending him that kind of money, are they? You know why? Two reasons: 1) Republicans only care about their own pocketbook and are too greedy to share their wealth, even with the politicians that they supposedly support, and 2) There just aren’t enough Republicans left anymore. Bush & Co. saw to that.
Face it, the Republican Party as it used to exist is finished. When they decide to get out of the religion business, they might actually start to attract more members. People are disgusted that the Party has abandoned its conservative roots.

“IT’S THE CHEESIEST!!!” Can all people out there just stop FEELING and start THINKING. I don’t listen to campaign promises, ALL TALK. I simply look at the TRUTH of their records. Obama is pro-abortion, anti-military, PRO-TAX INCREASE! This is recorded history. To assume change is insanity. If you want higher taxes, then you know who to vote for. Wootie you are just jealous and a hater because your candidate isn’t up to par and hasn’t been since day one. If it were McCain with all the money then it would be “oh well for Obama, if he can’t hang with the big boys then that’s on him.” Stop acting like it’s everyone else’s fault for McCain’s failure. McCain has screwed himself in his entire campaign so why aren’t you mad at him?
Obama has more funds because more people believe in him. Obama has many things over McCain but one of the most poignant differences is that Obama is sincere in what he says and does. It can’t be faked like McCain attempts to do. So if you want to be mad, be mad at Obama supporters because we are the ones that gave him the money.

Hey………..By Ragnar Danneskjöld ………
Where is your article or findings that we won against Al Queada ?
Gee if we did, then why this ……….
” WASHINGTON – Military planners now think they may need to send more than double the number of extra troops initially believed needed to help fight the war in Afghanistan.
The buildup in the increasingly violent campaign could amount to more than 20,000 troops rather than the originally planned 10,000, two senior defense officials said Wednesday on condition of anonymity because no new figures have been approved.
The newest calculations reflect growing requests from field commanders in recent weeks for aviation units, engineers and other skills to support the fighting units, the officials said.
Officials had been saying for months that they needed more people to train Afghan security forces and two more combat brigades — a total of some 10,000 people.
Commanders later increased that to the trainers and three combat brigades — or some 15,000, when extra support is included.
But with some 150,000 forces committed in Iraq, the U.S. has not had the available troops to send to Afghanistan. Adm. Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has often noted that in Afghanistan “we do what we can, in Iraq we do what we must.”
The military shortfall in Afghanistan has been a common complaint from commanders. The number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan has grown from fewer than 21,000 two years ago to more than 31,000 today.
At a Defense Department press conference later Wednesday, press secretary Geoff Morrell didn’t offer a number. In response to a question about the latest figures, he became animated in defending Pentagon efforts to get commanders more troops.
“Unfortunately, we don’t have them all … sitting at the ready, waiting just for the beck and call and we can send them overnight,” Morrell said, adding officials must weight needs in Afghanistan with needs globally.
“They are coming,” he said of the reinforcements. “They have been coming. They will continue to come.”
“It would be a mistake to suggest that we have been sitting on our hands while the commanders in Afghanistan have been screaming for more forces,” Morrell said.”
Well then……… I guess we are sending them there for What Reason ?

“As frequent critics of the Fed in recent years, we don’t think Chairman Ben Bernanke has much choice at the moment. Amid the panic and rapid deleveraging of the last month, the world’s investors have headed for the safety of dollar assets. Mr. Bernanke is meeting that demand. He’s also trying to avoid the risk of deflation, which is always present when financial markets seize up and economic activity declines. To put it in monetary policy terms, the Fed is boosting the supply of money to offset the decline in velocity, which is the amount of turnover in the money stock. Velocity has been falling like a newspaper stock amid the panic.”

“McCain camp trying to scapegoat Palin
Roger Simon Roger Simon – Thu Oct 30, 5:43 am ET Featured Topics:
John McCain’s campaign is looking for a scapegoat. It is looking for someone to blame if McCain loses on Tuesday.
And it has decided on Sarah Palin.
In recent days, a McCain “adviser” told Dana Bash of CNN: “She is a diva. She takes no advice from anyone.”
Imagine not taking advice from the geniuses at the McCain campaign. What could Palin be thinking?
Also, a “top McCain adviser” told Mike Allen of Politico that Palin is “a whack job.”
Maybe she is. But who chose to put this “whack job” on the ticket? Wasn’t it John McCain? And wasn’t it his first presidential-level decision?
And if you are a 72-year-old presidential candidate, wouldn’t you expect that your running mate’s fitness for high office would come under a little extra scrutiny? And, therefore, wouldn’t you make your selection with care? (To say nothing about caring about the future of the nation?)
McCain didn’t seem to care that much. McCain admitted recently on national TV that he “didn’t know her well at all” before he chose Palin.”
Gee I guess when you have a WAY too OLD guy in charge…………..he makes decisions based on “Faulty Intelligence”…….
Sounds all too familiar……Just like BUSH…….Poor John McCain……. he is JUST LIKE BUSH !

“Bill Clinton mentioned four important criteria to judge a Presidential candidate: 1. Philosophy Obama: Centrist/Liberal. McCain: Depraved.
Policy Obama: Pragmatic/Futuristic McCain: Bush
Decision Obama: Right on Iraq, VP pick and the economy. McCain: Wrong, gimmicky, erratic, respectively
Execution: Neither has executive experience, but look at how each has executed their campaigns.
This is a good way to talk to the still (and amazingly) undecided voters on the phone ot in person.”

Dear Peter @ 10:53, “Where is your article or findings that we won against Al Queada ?” Silly Peter, if you wait for the MSM to acknowledge the obvious, that the leftists were wrong about every aspect of the ongoing war against Islamists, you wait forever. Even if the destruction of al Qaeda is a fait accompli, there are still evil people who would harm the US, mostly named Hussein.
The intelligent war in Afghanistan does not march thousands of soldiers in - different terrain, different foe. Afghanistan, if done right, is a special ops war, buttressed by our clever firepower.
Gen Petraeus, the 2012 Republican Presidential nominee, has taken over the command in Afghanistan, and is working the same long-range strategy that proved successful there. He endeavors to turn low-level Taliban, as the regional tribal leaders turned in Iraq. Will be a tougher task, as the Taliban – unlike the foolish al Qaeda interlopers – do not routinely kill the natives. Nevertheless, the victory in Iraq revives the potential application of the “strongman” theory, playing on Middle East psyche.

Dear jm @ 11:08, I think that is not a fair charge – my definition of recession is now, and always has been two quarters of economic decline - but you are correct to note my wrongness. I admit that, until moments ago, I operated under the wrong impression that the second quarter of 2001 was negative and that there had been a recession in 2001. I regularly affirmed that George Bush observed the economy declining during the 2000 campaign, and that he thus urged tax cuts to stimulate business growth. I attributed the 2001 economy – which I wrongly believed was marked by recession – to the late additions to regulatory burden inflicted by Bill Clinton’s administration. I acknowledge now that there has not been a recession in the US since 1991.
I also note that for the past couple of years many moonbats – and I am not pointing at you, you are innocent, and you are not a moonbat - have attempted to change the definition of “recession,” mostly for political reasons. I have always resisted the argument to manufacture a phony recession, ill-motivated to attribute it to unspecified policies of the republican Congress ousted in 2006. We are now perhaps at the beginning of a recession – the numbers are pretty mild compared to 2001 – and of course I will primarily assert causation as (1) looming end of the Bush tax cuts, (2) higher minimum wage passed by democrat Congress, and (3) the residual effects of government interference in housing markets (the latter primarily implicates the Fed, Congressional actions and inactions, and long-term regulatory pressures mostly by FDIC and OCC.)
Having offered my argument, I regard well your perspective. What actions/inactions cause the looming recession (or do you call it merely “cyclical?”)

I think individual republican donors topped out with candidate GWB, because he guilt tripped them because of their letting Clinton beat his daddy. Then he redoubled his efforts with scare tactics that Kerry would let OBL loose to target freedom loving people everywhere.
Now everyone fondly remembers the economy that Clinton was lucky enough to preside over and OBL thumbs his nose at America during every election cycle. Republican’s being results focused types they have learned not to throw good money after bad so the entire amount amassed by all of this year’s republican candidates, including federal matching funds, will not equal what Obama has raised.
So therefore it is all BILL CLINTON’S fault…

Even though al Qaeda is wiped out, there are still evil people out there, and rational leadership turns attention in that direction. Thus the new attention to Afghanistan (I think the Syrian thing was a side-show.) Iran is a different question, but I note, without pedantically connecting the dots for you, that Iran is midway between Afghanistan and Iraq.

Wow. Alan Greenspan admitted that the major woody he had for Milton Friedman, upon which he based not only his personal philosophy, but his duties (for which he was amply compensated) to the American people via this complex entity called “The Economy”, was bogus trust. Apparently it all works out well “in theory,” as long as you eliminate the variables of (a) human greed, and (b) human stupidity. Reality, however, has reared it’s ugly head. Shame.
Now I must wonder, will the other faithful followers of a false, FAILED philosophy cling to it unapologetically while the consequences trickle down upon the innocent? And if so, will they claim it somehow fulfills their own particular religious philosophy? Or will they deliver the usual, heartfelt “EFF ALL Y’ALL!” they’re so famous for when the “superiority” of their flawed ideals are called into question?

Fox News just reported that exit polling of early votes in Ga reveals a 65/35 Obama landslide despite that fact that, in Georgia, a picture of Obama is in the spot where you have to click on to vote for McCain, which is the dirtiest trick ever played in suffrage, yet, exit polls reveal that voters were waiting for the trick and spotted it immediately. Many voters reported that when they finally clicked on the Obama vote prompt, they got error messages and in some cases, a Geico Caveman commercial appeared. However, these same voters expressed confidence that their vote was counted for Obama in the end. Then the exit polling was cut short by German Shepherd dogs who chased the Fox News reporter and the voters down the street toward waiting thugs in ambush who kicked their a-holes really bad.
In other words, it’s just like 2004. and 2000. and everything.

The Saudi funded Wahhabism based Madrassa schools are to Al Qaeda what military academies are to honorable standing armies, only without the honor. They lack the Sinn Fein to IRA decency of expressing goals. The Taliban would be like the Viet Cong if they were trying to free their people; but their goal is to enslave them with some 1,300-year-old idea of life.
We could have beat the Viet Cong if we had been willing to stay with the hamlet approach for three generations only if the ruling government was democratic and honest. It will take that same commitment, three generations and support for a honest, democratic government to win the hearts and minds of the Afghanistan people. Petrol-dollars funneled through our two-faced Saudi friends will make the task even more difficult. As one can see in Pakistan religion can shape actions but it takes money to distort faith to hate. This war on Islam based fascism will only be won when we strangle the Saudi money supply, be it now or in 100-years when their wells run dry. Will civilization survive?

ragnar@11:34 - this is my .02 - for far too long, our economy has been driven by consumption, not production. As consumers reached their level of consumption based upon their available capital, the market devised ways of producing “more capital” to fuel greater levels of consumption. Unfortunately, there are limits and I believe we have reached those limits, and to a certain degree gone past. No longer is capital creating more capital. In fact, in some cases, capital is diminishing.
It did not help matters that during a growing economy, the federal government managed to suck large amounts of capital out of the market to fuel their deficit spending.
As for tax cuts, since as many of you have liked to argue that only forty-something million (I forget the actual number) actually “pay taxes”, I would argue that cheap credit has had a greater impact on economic growth than the tax cuts did.
BTW, Arthur Laffer is on Real Time With Bill Maher this week. If you can stomach Bill Maher, Mr. laffer is quite interesting.

My disenfranchised association with the Republican Party started early in 1992, but I did as encouraged by many and attempted to fight from within the party. After 10 years of butting my head against the corrupt and blatant absence of honesty from my elected officials I started a run for State Rep and State Senate.
I am wired with a strict belief in the Constitution, and yearn for a return to a Constitutional form of government as penned and represented by our Founding Fathers. I believe the Rights of the people are inalienable, and are affirmed by the restrictions of power thereupon as legislated and mandated by the Constitution. I believe that our government is now inherently corrupt, and is currently operated to support and defend (by any manner and method) its own survival and expansion.
The only way I will vote for McCain is in hopes of defeating Obama, since I believe McCain will continue the slow and methodical destruction of American through immigration, taxation and spending. Anyone who asserts that a vote for McCain is a continuation of Bush is woefully ignorant of his time in office. The reason McCain is called a Maverick Republican is because no other Republican has crossed the isle as often as him to vote with the Democrats. This again in an affirmation that the left is not even satisfied with McCain’s version of Socialistic policies (McCain/Kennedy - McCain/Feingold), and to clarify how left they are they call him a ultra Right Wing Conservative (? Please). Whereas Obama on the other hand, by his own words and testimony will do everything in his power to reduce the wealth of our nation, disarm the military, concentrate his foreign policy efforts on Africa and the ultra-violent yet non-existent state (PLO) of Palestine. Not that we are not already destroying ourselves with social programs, but Obama will absolutely favor black people in growing social programs, as exampled by his association, and leadership within with ACORN, REZAR and ANNEGERG FOUNDATION.
Obama’s statements on the Warren Court, to his “inherently flawed Constitution” statement (From a man who will be sworn in to Protect and Defend the Constitution?), further to his plan to tax America to the rate of $831 Billion to send for African support; the list and reasons to insure this man not only is never elected President, but a concentrated effort to insure his expulsion or incarceration is vital to the survival of America.
If nothing else it’s hard to ignore the undisputed map of associations.

As an immigrant from Latin America, I am very familiar with socialism, and redistribution of wealth, high taxes, welfare government, socialized medicine, poor/non-competitive education systems, limited freedom of speech (e.g. fairness doctrine), co-governing labor unions, and Congress corruption (e.g. earmarks). Hopefully the American public will see the truth before it is too late…

Dear Findog @ 12:13, a great argument, you persuade me completely.
Dear Serious @ 12:37, sheesh, I fail to mention her column one time…. Today’s column is not as great as either of the last two, but it is a thoughtful argument. That is where I got the Penn & Teller video I mentioned @ 8:10. But, to cure your yearning:
“One of Olbermann’s many guest-hysterics was Newsweek’s Richard Wolffe. Equally excited, Wolffe said it was “no excuse” that McCain and Palin couldn’t hear what the crowd was shouting because “what you’re seeing here is a very conscious attempt to paint Obama as un-American, as unpatriotic and, yes, cohorting, consorting with what they call, ‘domestic terrorists.’ “
“(Liberals indignantly reject the label “domestic terrorists” for former Weathermen, preferring to call them “future Cabinet members.”)”

What is sad, is that a lot of people in this country don’t even know what socialism is and have never experienced it. That is why they are blind to Obama. It is knocking at our door and the people will vote it in. Obama is Socialism through and through. Passing wealth from one class to another is socialism. I don’t care how you word it, Redistribution. Dirty Harry, good name, loved the movie.
See if this is adequate? From your tone in earlier post i know you are for Obama hard core and that he is indeed a god to you. So I know there is a reason or spin he was not honest but here for you anyway.
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama was less than upfront in his half-hour commercial Wednesday night about the costs of his programs and the crushing budget pressures he would face in office. Obama’s assertion that “I’ve offered spending cuts above and beyond” the expense of his promises is accepted only by his partisans. His vow to save money by “eliminating programs that don’t work” masks his failure throughout the campaign to specify what those programs are — beyond the withdrawal of troops from Iraq. . A sampling of what voters heard in the ad, and what he didn’t tell them: THE SPIN: “That’s why my health care plan includes improving information technology, requires coverage for preventive care and pre-existing conditions and lowers health care costs for the typical family by $2,500 a year.”
THE FACTS: His plan does not lower premiums by $2,500, or any set amount. Obama hopes that by spending $50 billion over five years on electronic medical records and by improving access to proven disease management programs, among other steps, consumers will end up saving money. He uses an optimistic analysis to suggest cost reductions in national health care spending could amount to the equivalent of $2,500 for a family of four. Many economists are skeptical those savings can be achieved, but even if they are, it’s not a certainty that every dollar would be passed on to consumers in the form of lower premiums.
THE SPIN: “I also believe every American has a right to affordable health care.”
THE FACTS: That belief should not be confused with a guarantee of health coverage for all. He makes no such promise. Obama hinted as much in the ad when he said about the problem of the uninsured: “I want to start doing something about it.” He would mandate coverage for children but not adults. His program is aimed at making insurance more affordable by offering the choice of government-subsidized coverage similar to that in a plan for federal employees and other steps, including requiring larger employers to share costs of insuring workers.
THE SPIN: “I’ve offered spending cuts above and beyond their cost.”
THE FACTS: Independent analysts say Obama would deepen the deficit. The nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget estimates Obama’s policy proposals would add a net $428 billion to the deficit over four years — and that analysis accepts the savings he claims will come from some unspecified “spending cuts“. The nonpartisan Tax Policy Center, whose other findings have been quoted approvingly by the Obama campaign, says: “Both John McCain and Barack Obama have proposed tax plans that would substantially increase the national debt over the next 10 years.” The analysis goes on to say: “Neither candidate’s plan would significantly increase economic growth unless offset by spending cuts or tax increases that the campaigns have not specified.”
THE SPIN: “Here’s what I’ll do. Cut taxes for every working family making less than $200,000 a year. Give businesses a tax credit for every new employee that they hire right here in the U.S. over the next two years and eliminate tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas. Help homeowners who are making a good faith effort to pay their mortgages, by freezing foreclosures for 90 days. And just like after 9-11, we’ll provide low-cost loans to help small businesses pay their workers and keep their doors open. “
THE FACTS: His proposals — the tax cuts, the low-cost loans, the $15 billion a year he promises for alternative energy, and more — cost money, and the country could be facing a record $1 trillion deficit next year. Indeed, Obama recently acknowledged — although not in his commercial – that: “The next president will have to scale back his agenda and some of his proposals.”
Does it really matter you support him and as many of his supporters do you have an unwavering allegiance to him and no matter what comes up you will follow him blindly.

You are kidding Jim, right? A right winger like you complaining about too much money in politics is quite a laugh. Sounds like sour grapes to me. I did not hear you complain in the last presidential campaign about there being too much money in politics, why then is this time different? I would rather listen to Obama’s infomercial as you call it, than to listen to the constant lame talking points and character assassination coming out of the GOP campaign. Karl Rove style campaigning has not been all that successful this time around, but apparently the McCain camp remains clueless about this as they are just stepping up the tired old attacks that have nothing to do with what is important to the American people. Hate, fear and character assassination will not work this time. Perhaps is the McCain campaign spent some time talking about how they would address some of the issues that face our country instead of trying to scare voters with the tired old buzz words like terrorist, socialist, not ready to lead, Al-Qaeda, Osama bin Laden, Hussein and all the rest of the lame stuff they have been tossing around they would not be behind in the polls and desperately trying to swing things their way with all the mudslinging and hate mongering.

First of all lets not count our chickens before they hatch. I sincerely hope that Obama wins. Now for NH how could you say you are a Democrat? You are an idiot if you believe that Obama and not Bush has ties to terrorism. How could you even entertain not voting for Obama and possibly voting for McCain? Because of the hype? This country is in a terrible state. The Republicans put us here and now all of you want us to do what? Give them another chance to keep getting rich while the rest of us keep getting poor? Obama did not cause this problem but he may be able to help us see a little light at the end of the tunnel. If I am not mistaken campaign funds are to be used for the campaign. So if he wanted to take the opportunity to speak to the American people in his own way why shouldn’t he? He spoke intelligently and maybe that’s why some of you are so upset. There was no arguing back and forth like in the debate where you almost forget what the issues are. He sat there and told you what his plan is. He showed a few American families and let them tell you their stories in their own way. People are tired of wondering why their jobs are now in India. How do you know he was lying? You don’t, you just want to say that because he is not your candidate. Oh and McCain has been telling the TRUTH? Whatever. How many people on this blog earn more than $200,000.00 a year(adjusted gross income)? This guy could not do any worse than Bush ever did. In the last 8 years staple items have tripled in cost. Did Obama do that? No. So stop blaming him and if you’re not going to help him then vote for McCain and hope to have another 4 years like the last 8.

I would argue that politicians only care about themselves therefore congress will not allow Obama to go socialist in the first two years. Watch the 2010 challenges to moderate democrats; when that happens and Obama piles on the cash advantage he apparently is capable of then I would fear a return to the expansion of government like the last two Texan’s we’ve let run the store: LBJ and his great society and GWB and his homeland/Medicaid drug benefit.
Should Obama win then it will take McCain to play the loyal opposition; and even if there are 60 democrat senators we saw with the bail out that some are moderate and will cross over to restrain the next grand experiment in socialism in taking place here; except for what GWB has already brought…

There’s nothing as dangerous that our nation is facing as the unbalance of power that a far left Democrat monopoly on power will bring
Oh really? What about the danger that the Far-Out Right pushed onto our country? Their monopoly of power brought us 1) An attack on civil liberties 2) unchecked power of the president, (which, btw, thanks Karl Rove; you made the next President’s job so much easier. If he does something wrong or anybody in his cabinet all he has to say is “National Security” or “Presidential Perogative” and get off scot free); 3)BIGGER goverment (anyone remember that poor soul Terri Schiavo?) 4) a wrecked economy and TWO wars 5) A debt so big that the USA will have to dig its citizens up outta their graves to charge them extra taxes for being dead.
THIS is what “unchecked” power by the republicans has brought us. You can’t blame it on Pelosi, (who took control of the house LAST YEAR in 2007 — before that it was repuglican controlled for 10+ years; you can’t blame it on Fannie / Freddie, with the House, Senate and White house under one regime, they could’ve reigned in Fannie/Fred at any time they wanted to. The just never wanted to — zero interest loans were making a LOT of people rich)
Since repuglicans are so big on “personal responsibility”, then tt’s time to stand up and take responsibility for all the wrongs that they have done not only to this country but to the American people.
The republican mantra now is “Country First” but really, in all honesty, if Obama wins, will you REALLY put country first? Or will you attack, malign, belittle, and abjectify every thing non-republican in sight? Will you really try to mend this country and rebuild America’s pride and honor, or will you hinder every effort made by Obama to set an example of patriotism over partisianship?
If any of you republicans can answer that question please do. I’d really like to know if “Country First” is just a politically expedient slogan that you never intend to follow or uphold.

I can understand why people have gotten discouraged with the republicans. But.. Does it not scare the hell out of you when you think about Obamas associations. This proves his total lack of judgement. I am mortified to think that he could be the president. McCain ain’t that great but he is better than a muslim who associates with terroist who wants to give away the money that hard working people make to all the welfare bums. I realize that there is nothing anyone can say to an Obama supporter to change their mind. They are voting for Obama for one reason and we all know what that is. It sure isn’t ability or qualifications. It is just like in Clayton County. All the blacks voted in all the black candidates. Look at the shape they are in and that is where we will be in a few years if Obama gets elected.

Do not try to guilt people into supporting Obama and his possible presidency. You did not support our president and from my recolection I have never seen you say any republican ideas are good. If you like any idea from a republican you normally twist it to show how a democrate member really was behind the idea.
Be fair, why ask people to do something you have not been and are not willing to yourself.
Guess that kinda goes like the forced charity you want the “rich” to pay. Did you send extra money in taxes, did you give money to a homeless person today, even better did you go to the projects or a run down trailor park and help any of the people living there. If not shut up and quit trying to impose guilt on others.

Some quick facts - the amount of money you pay into FICA each paycheck is part of a SOCIALIST doctrine. Medicare is part of a SOCIALIST doctrine. But they work and if not for these two SOCIALIST doctrines many retired people, (who when they first retired had thought their retirment accounts would last until they died), would be homeless.
The $7BN bailout, is a SOCIALIST doctrine. In a true capitalist society, the goverment would not have stepped in and saved Wall Street. They would’ve let the market sort itself out and the weak corporations, if they failed, would’ve been swallowed whole by the bigger stronger ones. Not bailed out.

Ed you have to understand many of the Obama supporters do not care about any of that, he is their god. It does not matter what he does because others only see him as a source of income. There are some black people out there voting on the basis of color, as is the case for some white people. So I do feel it is wrong to say that it is only Blacks voting for him, I personally know some black friends who are voting for McCain and others for Obama.
Still I agree with your point that for whatever reason many people have turned on blinders to Obama and see him as only good regardless of what the circumstantial evidence may show.
Yes I said circumstantial, because you can be convicted in a court of law on circumstantial evidence. Just because you cannot prove something does not mean you cannot prove a pattern of behavior.

Gee Wrongs……….. what was that stupid comment McCain said about Obama leaving too soon in Iraq, and admitting defeat ?
HA HA HA………. Gee I guess McCain didn’t get the Memo….we are getting Kicked out of IRAQ !
“Iraq wants guaranteed US departure after 2011
BAGHDAD – Iraq wants to remove any possibility that U.S. troops could remain after 2011 from a proposed security agreement now under negotiation, a Shiite lawmaker close to Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said Thursday.
The current draft would have U.S. soldiers leave Iraq by Dec. 31, 2011, unless the government asks them to stay to help with training or other missions. But Ali al-Adeeb, a member of the prime minister’s inner circle, said the government wants that possibility removed.
“The Iraqi side wants to remove any mention of a possible extension of U.S. troops, fearing that the existing clause might be subjected to misinterpretation or could bear different interpretation because Multinational Forces might demand for extension depending on their evaluation of the security forces or the incomplete readiness of the Iraqi forces,” al-Adeeb told The Associated Press.
The Bush administration’s hope to secure the deal while in office was fading with the new Iraqi demands.”

Wooten sure is whining about campaign finance reform. Not sure if he was doing this back in 2000 and 2004 when Bush’s Rangers were raking in all the dough. It’s fine as long as your party is bringing in the most money. Now theres too much when a Democrat, a black on at that, has broken every campaing fundraising record Wooten can think of. I guess he doesn’t know his place.
But let’s face it, Wooten is scared. He knows if Obama wins, the readership of this blog will go down. Has he written anything of substance in months? Not one article yet on why McCain should be elected on the issues, only reason on why Obama shouldn’t be elected; he’s a muslim, he hangs with terrorists and witchdoctors, too inexperienced. Funny how during the Republican’s Convention Wooten was burning the midnight oil raving over Palin. Now that we see how much of a liability she is, its back to Obama isn’t ready. Well Wooten, most of the country thinks that he is ready. With the AJC cutting back and all, an old dinosaur like you may be replaced by a newer, younger conservative with some fresh ideas. The culture wars don’t work anymore. But you know who you have to thank for Obama being president: George W. Bush. He alone has made America believe that a black man can be President if he was. Besides Wooten, deep down inside you know Bush has been an awful president. Will, Frum, Powell, Parker, and every other honest conservative has jumped ship, while you go down with the titanic. Will you still respect the office of the President once a black man is sitting in it Wooten?

Jim,
I don’t recall you complaining when in 2004 Kerry accepted public funding and Bush heavily outspent Kerry. I strongly suspect that if the shoe had been on the other foot, you would have harped about people having the right to support their candidate. You just can’t get yourself to admit that McCain has run a pathtic campaign and had he picked someone like the pro-choice Tom Ridge, this race would have been much closer. But then, this interesting double-standard but to be expected.
Obama’s going to win this. I’ll be watching to see how soon they call Virginia and perhaps, North Carolina. Once those states are announced as being in Obama’s column, it’s only a matter of seeing if this is an overwhelming win for Obama (+325 electoral votes) or a complete blowout (+375).

Debbie I will do as I did with Bush in offie if I think it is a good idea I will say so however if I feel it is a bad idea I will say so.
I’m sorry — I must’ve missed those posts where you spoke “truthfully” about Bush and his policies. Maybe you were posting under a different name then.
Do not try to guilt people into supporting Obama and his possible presidency. You did not support our president and from my recolection I have never seen you say any republican ideas are good. If you like any idea from a republican you normally twist it to show how a democrate member really was behind the idea.
No one is trying to “guilt” anybody. I asked a simple question, “Is Country First just a republican slogan or do real republicans really mean it?” That’s pretty simple. And what good ideas have came from Republicans that I didn’t like? Well, what good ideas have came from Republicans period in the last 8 years?
Be fair, why ask people to do something you have not been and are not willing to yourself.
Shows what you know. I have put COUNTRY first in DEEDS not just words, have you? I objected vehemently to the Iraq war, yet I support military spouses whose mates are away in wars. I have made trips to Walter Reed, (with my group of Military Spouses), and volunteered my services on the hospital wards where injured and crippled soldiers are lying fighting for a reason to keep living. I have, (with my group of Military Spouses), have raised money for other spouses to helo stay in D.C. while their soldier/airman/marine is in the hospital recuperating. I have washed cars, did yard sales, baked cookies, did anything that I could do to help the Soldiers of a war I don’t agree with because in the end they are still Americans and American families who need help trying to get through a hard time. WHAT HAVE YOU DONE? What about the Republican congress or Senate? WHAT HAVE THEY DONE FOR THE INJURED that are coming home from this war? What has SAXBY done?
Guess that kinda goes like the forced charity you want the “rich” to pay. Did you send extra money in taxes, did you give money to a homeless person today, even better did you go to the projects or a run down trailor park and help any of the people living there. If not shut up and quit trying to impose guilt on others
First of all you don’t know me, and I find your loaded, insulting, sneering questions ridiculous.
Let’s make this short: to answer your questions, YES with the properties I currently own along with my sister-in-law, our company will make more than then $250K this year and our company will pay hire taxes under Obama. If it helps one single person struggling to make ends meet, then WE (she and I) don’t care. BTW she has voted for Obama too.
YES my sister-in-law and I donate clothes, money, and food items to homeless shelters, especially the one that house women and children.
YES I go into the SWATS regularly, I’m a Big sister to 3 girls who currently reside there. I take them out and show them that life is more than what they see every day and they can have much more if they keep their minds focused on the right path.
NO to the trailer parks — but if I happen to get a little sister who lives in one, then that’s where I’ll be.
QUESTION: What DO YOU DO Mr. all Talk and no substance? Sit around with your wallet in your hands, counting your money telling yourself what a good christian you are while jacking off?
People can support whoever they want, 1st ammendment, or is that off the table for you as it is the Obama campaign.
So I guess that answers my question then. COUNTRY FIRST is just a political campaign slogan. You won’t EVER put your country before your right-wing ideaology; partisan politics will always reign in your little small world.

TO THE UNEDUCATED LIBERAL VOTERS ON THIS BLOG:
This may be the most interesting and telling piece you will read. Can anyone of you please explain this one? Al Quida wants Bush and the GOP humiliated on election day. HMMMMMMM…. Now who is going to humiliate the GOP? Oh, that’s right DEMOCRATS!!! Why does Al Quida support Barrack Hussien and the Democrat Party? Gee, I don’t know, could it be because the democrat party is the party of whiners, idiots, blow-hards, and…duh duh duh….PU$$IES!!!!!!!
Qaeda wants Republicans, Bush “humiliated”: Web video.
DUBAI (Reuters) - An al Qaeda leader has called for President George W. Bush and the Republicans to be “humiliated,” without endorsing any party in the upcoming U.S. presidential election, according to a video posted on the Internet.
“O God, humiliate Bush and his party, O Lord of the Worlds, degrade and defy him,” Abu Yahya al-Libi said at the end of sermon marking the Muslim feast of Eid al-Fitr, in a video posted on the Internet.
Libi, one of the top al Qaeda commanders believed to be living in Afghanistan or Pakistan, called for God’s wrath to be brought against Bush equating him with past tyrants in history.
The remarks were the first comments from a leading al Qaeda figure referring, albeit indirectly, to the U.S. elections. Muslim clerics often end sermons by calling on God to guide and support Muslims and help defeat their enemies.
In 2004 al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden issued his first video in more than a year just days before the elections to deride President Bush and warn of possible new September 11-style attacks.
Bin Laden made little mention of Bush’s Democratic challenger John Kerry, telling Americans: “Your security is not in the hands of Kerry or Bush or al Qaeda. Your security is in your own hands and each state which does not harm our security will remain safe.”

Debbie, I have said numerous times the current admninstration is and has been awful for our country.
If you volunteer congrats, cause I do too, and not just to 3 kids but to hundreds every sat. afternoon. Through a food bank and basic soup kitchen(not gonna mention names you dems scare me you will attack anything and anyone) also to ge there food they have to go through reading and skills traing classes in the morning.
What does Saxby have to do with anything. Don’t do much except go to the Benning Hospitol were my friend is still at.
And about your guilt issue if you feel that strongly that asking a question like that is not guilting people into doing something where were you at when you liberal buddies accused me of just that for asking what I asked you. It was on this very blog. I was said to be guilting people to feeling one way or another.
So you say you objected to the iraq war, will you also object when Obama goes to war. Remeber his words were he would go to war with a country for commiting genocide, what was it Sadaam was doing to the Kurds again. So again where were you when hObama made that claim during the debate. Must have missed that post from you hypocrite. He also said if Iran aquires nuclear weapons, that is what the intellegence told Bush remember. Also all of your democrate friends did not have to vote for the war but they di you seem to forget that.
But I do applaud you because you ar eht first Obama supporter that has answered the question so are you going to tell them to start giving and helping.
Also there is a huge difference in giving time and giving money, Obama wants to give my money to people. Vouchers I am cool with, more food stamps or EBT fine. But tell me why money, when thay have proven not to be the best with their finances?
That is right to get votes, Obama is only promising the give away to get votes from people who want something for nothing. It is a ploy and a lie to get votes. There I said it I havE O CONFIDENCE IN oBAMA TO HOLD HIS END TO TAXES. hE LIED TO TEH PEOPLE OF iLLINOIS HE WILL LIE TO US. Tell me one thing he has ever made in a campaign and kept his promise.

Nope. NEVER. However, I will support the troops and their families as long as I have breath in my body. It seems that some “Great Americans” forget that equation of War. People get injured and die. They think war must be like Coney Island because they darn sure aren’t supporting the Troops who have to fight in the war, just the war.
You blame Bush for terrorism that has brought us two wars fully explained but ignored by Democrats who voted their approval for the wars.
I don’t blame Bush for terrorism, terrorists were around long before Dumbya took office — I blame him for IGNORING the threat when Clinton told him and his people about it when they took office. I blame him for MAKING up a pretensious war in Iraq and KILLING/Maiming thousands of American soldiers in the process. I blame him and his cronies for the MESS this country is in now.
You have never supported Homeland Defense but enjoy the safe America it has given us.
Oh Dusty DUH!! How can anyone NOT SUPPORT HOMELAND DEFENSE when they live in the country that’s being defended? What I don’t support is naked avarice and greed by a corrupt administration drunk off it’s own power!! Think of all the GOOD Bush could’ve done with his popularlity after 9/11! He had the ears and hearts of the world especially the Arab world who totally understands revenge and retribution. And what did Mr. Cant Eat Pretzels Without Passing OUt do with it all that good? Attacked a soverign nation who hadn’t attacked us, then blamed it on “faulty intelligence”. BushSh#$t!! When Plame’s husband tried to tell the truth to the world, they outed her to shut him up. Arrogance and stupidity wrapped around the American flag is still arrogance and stupidity. I don’t care who wears it.

Just the mere notion of a right-winged conservative crying foul because a politican raised too much money is laughable in itself.
Calling these stories of those American’s in the ad “Hollywood”? That’s why McCain is losing. Because he isn’t talking to those kinds of Americans.
Heck, McCain isn’t even talking about himself. Everyone… and I mean EVERYONE is talking about OBAMA (postively or negatively). No one is talking about McCain… not even McCain and Palin. This approach didn’t work for John Kerry in 2004 and it probably won’t work for McCain now. These next 5 days McCain needs to stop talking about Obama will do as President and start talking about what “the Maverick” is going to do as President.
Face it… McCain is getting beat in every area of this campaign so far. And not because of Obama, but because of the conversatives who forced the “Maverick” to become a overly right-winged MegaConservative. I say this because the Maverick McCain that won the primaries isn’t this pseudo Reagan/Palin MegaConservative McCain that’s probably going to lose this election.
He lost the Independents (including myself) that were in his corner when he gave in to the will and demands of the conservative base.
Palin went from being a star, to being a joke, to going into hiding, to now this McCain mouthpiece that gives misleading information about all of Obama’s “Dangerous Radical Friends”. Still not talking about or providing any solutions to the problems facing Americans other than now parading “Joe the Plummer” around to appeal to all us “Joe Six Packs” and “Hockey Moms”.
It’s just sad for me to watch as one who actually admired and like and probably would have voted for “the Maverick”.

Dear Debbie Do Right.. Just a few thoughts.
Bush had only eight months to get the militry ready for any war. Clinton had cut the military to the bone.
There have benn no clean wars except Iraq I which left Saddam in power. Bad mistake.
Republicans have supported the military and the wars. Democrats have not, not in Congress.
Veterans in this country probably have the best care in the world. There is never enough to compensate what some soldiers lose in war time. Do you recognize what McCain gave up for this country while serving in the military?
I am afraid you have one way thinking without observing the whole picture.
That also goes for everybody voting for Obama.

If I decide to donate my money to a cause, whether it’s feeding the hungry, clothing the homeless or restoring old cars, I expect my money to be used for that cause. The millions of people who have donated to the Obama campaign gave their money to help his campaign. That was the purpose of the documentary. If McCain had been able to do the same thing I’m sure he would have. The only difference? His 30 minutes would have been used to further enhance his smear campaign. It’s a sad day when watching your fellow Americans talk about how they are struggling to make ends meet is interpeted as being “cheesy.” I truly hope that the hate in the hearts of those who can’t see the good that Obama can do does not spill over into your everyday life. Let the people speak by their vote. I have already voted for OBama because I believe that he will be more responsive to middle class America. If I were wealthy and made more than $200,000 per year, I would still vote for Obama as a 3% increase in taxes would not hurt if it helped reduce the burden on people making less money.
The big businesses are making a killing on cheap labor. Increased taxes are needed to reduce the debt and improve our economy by putting people back to work. I would rather tax ourselves instead of borrowing from China. Why not tax the greedy b*? Anyone who has ever worked for a big business knows that this 3% will go into the ownwers pocket and not to expanding the business. The Wall Street fiasco demonstrates this. Labor is 50% of operating cost(salary and fringe benefits). Labor costs have been decreased by out sourcing to other countries with cheap labor. I had trouble with my Internet access and I spoke with someone in India that I could not understand nor solve my problem.I solved the problem myself with some good old American ingenuity.
Forget foreign policy. If there is no economic order at home, then we cannot afford to police the world. Bring the $10 billion being wasted monthly in Iraq back home and create jobs to improve our infrastructure that is in shambles.
Wake up people and do not let fear of a black man in power fog your common sense. We do have checks and balances to protect us although it did not work with Bush.Change is needed.

Okay, for the people who keep saying “what about the blacks that voted for Kerry, Clinton, etc.”, both candidates (Rep & Dem) were white, so black folks had no choice but to vote for a white man. Just my observation. It would have been better to say that black folks didn’t vote in huge numbers for Jessie Jackson when he was trying to get the democratic nod. Come on people, think before you type.

Well Jimbo, You are like all those other right wing clowns who think that what they say matters. Get a grip, this election is over and the “buffoon and the bimbo” are toast. You decry Obama’s campaign approach, yet you said nothing when the clown prince Bushie and his cohorts were, and still are, raping this country silly (Exxon profits today). It is unfortunate that McCain is painfully following the same path he took in 2001 in trying to be folksy and pretend to be a common man (numerous homes and a millionaire wife doesn’t cut it bud). To add insult to injury he opted to take on some Bush “advisers” and they have literally thrown him under the bus with bad advice. Then you have “Caribou Barbie” who is beginning to toot her own horn now. If he can’t manage his campaign how can he manage this country?

You sound as bad as your boy. Too bad Mr. Prune and Ms. Hockey Mom didn’t have enough to buy 10 minutes. If you didn’t like what he had to say then you should have just turned to another channel because he keeps making you mad and angry everytime you see him doesn’t he. LOL. You can try and bring him down and to continue with the lies but you will never take away his intelligence. He just keeps going and going.. doesn’t he. He has got to be a chess player because the moves he is making on McCain and all of you doubters are unreal. I’m loving it, Mr. Wooten.

If you volunteer congrats, cause I do too, and not just to 3 kids but to hundreds every sat. afternoon.
Amazing!! After everything that I wrote down about my service to the community, that’s the only thing you remembered!
What does Saxby have to do with anything.
Saxby is in the Senate. He votes on expeditures for things like funding for Military Hospitals.
And about your guilt issue if you feel that strongly that asking a question like that is not guilting people into doing something where were you at when you liberal buddies accused me of just that for asking what I asked you. It was on this very blog. I was said to be guilting people to feeling one way or another.
I don’t blog every day. Although, I try to read over them at night to see what’s going on. I must’ve missed that one.
So you say you objected to the iraq war, will you also object when Obama goes to war.
When that happens, I’ll let you know.
Remeber his words were he would go to war with a country for commiting genocide, what was it Sadaam was doing to the Kurds again.
Saddam committed mass genocide against the Kurds in the 70’s and 80’s while he was testing out the nuclear arsenal that America gave to him.
He also said if Iran aquires nuclear weapons, that is what the intellegence told Bush remember. Also all of your democrate friends did not have to vote for the war but they di you seem to forget that.
OK first part, IF is the adverb in this sentence. IF pennies fell from heaven we’d all be rich. IF we had the goose that laid the golden egg. IF my mother would give me the recipe to her carrot cake. Second Part - I don’t CARE what the other dems voted, their SPOUSE wasn’t the ones fighting in the war voted for.
But I do applaud you because you ar eht first Obama supporter that has answered the question so are you going to tell them to start giving and helping.
YES. No matter who wins, we can’t go on like this. These past few years have been more divisive and filled with hate so intense it reminds one of the rhetoric being said before the start of the Civil War. No matter who wins I will support their administration. However, if they lie, cheat, steal, abuse their power, etc.; I’ll also call them out on it.

The $250 billion unconditionally given to investment banks is going nowhere, and they have held conference calls asserting they don;’t have to loan money to anyone. The banks intend to buy new banks and that would be fine on their money or p;ribvate money, but not with taxpayer bailouts. Again the Republicans and Paulson have been completely stupid in not attaching conditions to the use of taxpayer money. Wooten drools obvlivious to this.
A new AP/GfK poll today of 8 swing states shows Obama leading in all 8 of them — 6 of them by wide margins (CO, NV, NH, OH, PA, VA) and 2 by small margins (FL, NC). The RCP average of all polls shows Obama with a national lead of 6.8%, roughly what it has been for weeks, and also shows Obama with a lead in every swing state. And FiveThirtyEight’s model currently estimates that Obama’s probability of winning is 96.2%, while McCain’s is 3.8%.

Wow, when you access the AJC & look for informative, interesting commentary this columnist is the pits! Why do you all keep reading him? What a petulant, p** whiner!
How in the world can Republicans be proud of what our country has done in the past 8 years? There was - in no particular order - the failure to sign the Kyoto treaty, the reimposition of the global gag rule, Katrina, gas prices, Valerie Plame, not just one but TWO wars… And by the way, did we really invade Afghanistan simply so those people could establish a theocracy? “The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan” - now that has a decidedly un-American ring! Yup, over 600 of our soldiers and untold civilians have died to establish “The Islamic Republic of Afghanstan.” Congratulations, Republicans! Plus, let’s talk about the economy. Clinton left us a surplus! A surplus!! Now what do we have? Huh? What’d you say? Who among us is better off now than when Bush took office? How about all you small business owners? How about all you parents with a kid or two in college? How about all you homeowners who have watched your nest egg dwindle? Who hasn’t watched in amusement-turning-to-horror-turning-to-outrage as huge corporations have squandered billions as their CEOs make millions. Dang!
All you folks who get sweaty with excitement about another 4 years of basically the same thing (though at least I wouldn’t look at the president and mutter ‘draft dodger’ under my breath like I do now) you must be a) crazy, b) living in a parallel universe. Who the devil really wants the government peering into their bedroom? Who the devil really wants the government taking away an individual’s right to die with a modicum of dignity? Georgia is in play! North Carolina is in play! And FLORIDA is in play! Who’d a thought it?! Hooray! I say, play away! Don’t take anything for granted! VOTE Obama/Biden!

Maybe Wooten ought to try reading Jay Bookman’s article on how the RNC spends money on internal polling to find out that Saxbutt Chickens* Chambliss is in big trouble because Alan Buckley is forcing him into a runoff he can’t win.
Meanwhile, Moron Palin continues to step those Manolo Blahnick’s she got in dressup school into deeper and deeper s*
Palin invoked the name of a professor that the Obamas were friends with who has a different opinion of the relationship with Israel to Obama.
In fact, McCain funded Khalidi’s research twice to the tune of about $600,000. Who is coordinating fact checking for Moron Palin? Apparently no one.
During the 1990s, while he served as chairman of the International Republican Institute (IRI), McCain distributed several grants to the Palestinian research center co-founded by Khalidi, including one worth half a million dollars.
A 1998 tax filing for the McCain-led group shows a $448,873 grant to Khalidi’s Center for Palestine Research and Studies for work in the West Bank
The relationship extends back as far as 1993, when John McCain joined IRI as chairman in January. Foreign Affairs noted in September of that year that IRI had helped fund several extensive studies in Palestine run by Khalidi’s group, including over 30 public opinion polls and a study of “sociopolitical attitudes.”
And there was nothing wrong with what McCain did nor what Obama did. That’s how frigging dumb Palin is. But keep the moron talking—it’s more electoral votes for us and helps get Saxbutt out of the Senate.

The common denominator of the Thug Votersupression efforts is failure.
In Georgia Handel’s Vote Cage scheme was knocked on its butt by the 3 Judge Panel.
In Indiana, for instance, a Superior Court judge declined to support a GOP bid to shut down early voting centers in Democratic-leaning cities in Lake County, and the state Supreme Court chose not to immediately intervene.
In Wisconsin, a suit brought by Republican Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen — which he later admitted had been requested by the Republican Party — seeking to force the state election board to re-confirm all newly registered voters was thrown out by a county court.
In Michigan, a federal appeals court today blocked the Republican secretary of state, Terri Lynn Land, from throwing 5,500 newly registered voters off the rolls because their registration cards were returned as undeliverable, after voting-rights groups sued.
In other states, Democratic state officials or voting-rights advocates have held the line:
In Nevada, Secretary of State Ross Miller denied a request from the state GOP to require voters to cast provisional ballots if they fixed mistakes in their voting information at the polls. In Colorado, a bid by Republican Secretary of State Mike Coffman — who himself is running for a seat in the U.S. House — to purge 14,000 voters from the rolls was only partially successful. After voting-rights groups sued, a settlement was reached yesterday allowing the voters to cast provisional ballots. According to the Rocky Mountain News, those ballots would “be presumed to be valid unless state and county officials prove otherwise.” A lawyer for the voting-rights groups called the deal “a win-win.”

Dear Debbie Do Right.. Just a few thoughts. Bush had only eight months to get the militry ready for any war. Clinton had cut the military to the bone.
Dusty, that’s half true. The military (regulary not reserves or Guard), trains excesively, they are ALWAYS ready for a war. Remember Desert Storm? (Under Daddy Bush); we had the gear, weapons, knowledge and equipment needed to fight a war in Afghanistan. We also had the personnel — we have heavy artillery, fighter pilots, naval carriers, etc. all over the world, some could’ve been pulled at a moments notice, (as they were), to fight in Afghanistan. I have to look this up, but I think we invaded Afghanistan one month after being attacked on 9/11. We used the military that we had and we were ready.
There have benn no clean wars except Iraq I which left Saddam in power. Bad mistake.
You mean Bush I right?
Republicans have supported the military and the wars. Democrats have not, not in Congress.
Dusty, 90% of the Dems in Congress voted for the war in Afghanistan, 90%. The percentage was 75% for Iraq because of obvious reasons.
Veterans in this country probably have the best care in the world. There is never enough to compensate what some soldiers lose in war time. Do you recognize what McCain gave up for this country while serving in the military?
Yes, I do. So did my father. So did other males in my family AND an aunt who was a nurse in Viet Nam and a great Aunt who was part of the famed 6888th Postal Unit in England and France. My great uncle earned 6 Army commendation medals, and a purple heart while serving in SEGREGATED units during WWII and was rewaded the Silver Star posthomously 4 years ago. McCain is not the only one to serve, nor is he the only one to get hurt while serving. My family and countless other American families have veterans and heroes up and down their lineage too.
I am afraid you have one way thinking without observing the whole picture. That also goes for everybody voting for Obama.

The saddest thing of all this election, is that so many have cast their lots with the smoke and mirror camp. I am sure they will find a way to blame Bush when things go south. Those of us with companies will be laying them off to ensure our families are safe and secure, and our children can go to college. I am sure they will also think this a selfish and elitist behavior. Ayn Rand was wrong. Alan Greenspan, a solid Rand follower said that himself a few days ago.
OK found this one on the web. A new book coming out from a defector from the Dumbya Brigade — a former Sec. of Treasury under Bush II, very interesting.
From the very beginning, there was a conviction, that Saddam Hussein was a bad person and that he needed to go,” says O’Neill, who adds that going after Saddam was topic “A” 10 days after the inauguration - eight months before Sept. 11.
“From the very first instance, it was about Iraq. It was about what we can do to change this regime,” says Suskind. “Day one, these things were laid and sealed.”
As treasury secretary, O’Neill was a permanent member of the National Security Council. He says in the book he was surprised at the meeting that questions such as “Why Saddam?” and “Why now?” were never asked.
“It was all about finding a way to do it. That was the tone of it. The president saying ‘Go find me a way to do this,’” says O’Neill. “For me, the notion of pre-emption, that the U.S. has the unilateral right to do whatever we decide to do, is a really huge leap.”
And that came up at this first meeting, says O’Neill, who adds that the discussion of Iraq continued at the next National Security Council meeting two days later.
He got briefing materials under this cover sheet. “There are memos. One of them marked, secret, says, ‘Plan for post-Saddam Iraq,’” adds Suskind, who says that they discussed an occupation of Iraq in January and February of 2001.Based on his interviews with O’Neill and several other officials at the meetings, Suskind writes that the planning envisioned peacekeeping troops, war crimes tribunals, and even divvying up Iraq’s oil wealth.
He obtained one Pentagon document, dated March 5, 2001, and entitled “Foreign Suitors for Iraqi Oilfield contracts,” which includes a map of potential areas for exploration.
“It talks about contractors around the world from, you know, 30-40 countries. And which ones have what intentions,” says Suskind. “On oil in Iraq.”
During the campaign, candidate Bush had criticized the Clinton-Gore Administration for being too interventionist: “If we don’t stop extending our troops all around the world in nation-building missions, then we’re going to have a serious problem coming down the road. And I’m going to prevent that.”
“The thing that’s most surprising, I think, is how emphatically, from the very first, the administration had said ‘X’ during the campaign, but from the first day was often doing ‘Y,’” says Suskind. “Not just saying ‘Y,’ but actively moving toward the opposite of what they had said during the election.

Last night, Barack took to the airwaves to make the case for real change. He used the time to tell the stories of ordinary people who need real solutions to their problems.
The presentation reached its finale with Barack addressing the nation live from Florida — I’ve included the video of that moment below.
But right now, I need to ask you for help.
We just learned that the McCain campaign and the Republican National Committee had a $20 million cash advantage on October 15th. That means we can expect to see a fierce blitz of negativity in the final days — so-called “robocalls,” mail pieces, and TV ads filled with smears and false attacks.
We can’t let our opponents’ low-road tactics prevail. To stand up to this last-minute spending spree, we need to step up our efforts.
Your generosity has made this movement possible. Will you watch Barack’s speech and make another donation of $25 or more today?
https://donate.barackobama.com/forthefinish The resources we have to get our message out in the next 5 days could make all the difference.

They claim that a forest’s dispersion of different tree sizes (trunk fat or skinny), matches exactly the proportion of fat limbs to skinny limbs on any given tree in the forest. That all life ecosystems are fractal in nature, that is, a small shape done over a trillion times to make big shapes and bigger shapes until you get the whole universe all tied together mathematically with fractal geometry.

Those are not supposed to be touched until the polls are closed on election day. So, are you cheating or are you a racist basing your assumption on the color of the voters showing up to vote early?
And I cannot believe that there is a long standing Republican that is changing parties to vote for The One. They hate McCain because he is too liberal, they are not voting for Obama, the fascist Barr maybe, but not Obama.
RONCO - I hope that thing cooks hot dogs, cause that’s what you will be able to afford with Obamanomics.

DEFIANCE, Ohio — “Where is Joe? Is Joe here with us today?”
That’s the question John McCain asked roughly 6,000 people at Defiance Junior High School here this morning, But the correct answer was no — Joe the Plumber was nowhere to be found.
There are conflicting reports about where or when or if Joe will appear with McCain at some point during his two-day bus tour of Ohio, but the candidate clearly thought that he was meeting him here in Defiance, the first stop on the tour.

LOL and a big shout out to Ms. Karen Handel, who JUST NOW has decided she has to follow the law regarding changes to voting rules! What she doesn’t seem to get is she got in trouble for making the voting process MORE RESTRICTIVE. She would NOT get in trouble making it EASIER for people to get to the polls!
She is really striking out left and right isn’t she? I personally think she should be put in jail for her shenannigans in trying to tinker with voting regarding registration challenges, and regarding trying to get the dem off the ballot for PSC. Looks like the Feds could bust her for trying to violate civil rights of those trying to register to vote.
Let’s get the bums out! The American people have already, like sheep, given up many of their rights over the last 8 years. Our country has become the butt of jokes around the world. Our own state, led by the Republicans, is looking pretty stupid and backward right now. The best thing to do is to start fresh with folks who are not out to milk the taxpayers for their own financial benefit.

I’m the Chief Financial Officer for Barack Obama’s campaign. I track the donations coming in and the expenses going out.
I asked for the opportunity to write to you directly so that I could try to explain what’s happening right now.
This organization has thousands of employees and spends millions of dollars a day — and at the moment we’re doing it without a safety net.
Our spending plans have been stretched by John McCain’s negative attacks and the overwhelming resources of the Republican National Committee.
As of October 15th, John McCain and the RNC together had nearly $20 million more in cash than the combined total of Obama for America and the DNC. And just this week, we’re facing new and unexpected spending against us in Montana and West Virginia.
Your incredible generosity has gotten us this far. But right now we need your help more than ever to get this campaign across the finish line.
Please donate $25 or whatever you can afford right now:
https://donate.barackobama.com/RNCadvantage
My team and I are working to stretch every dollar in order to keep as many paths to victory open as possible. But we need whatever help you can provide for this crucial final stretch.
Thank you,
MM

I’ve got an idea—instead of either candidate spending gobs of money on those insulting ads and informationals, why don’t we make a law that states each party will give the donated money to the US budget, hold five debates ANSWERING any and all questions, and let the American people decide.
Oh, and the media has to remain neutral—no pushing someone on the country.

Karen Handel is the Sarah Palin of Georgia in almost ecery aspect. She was an ambitious secretary with no depth of knowledge and no discernible skill beyond carrying water for her overlords. So they plucked her from obscurity and made her into a windup doll. SHe has no moral compass and no real intelligence, just naked agression and a mean streak.
Karen Handel is the Sarah Palin of Georgia, but not nearly as bone worthy. I wouldn’t 4ukc her with Bob Dole’s dick.

It should be clear to all Republicans that the voter supression movement is failing miserably.
In the most brazen attempt, in Ohio, John Boenner asked the White House to implore Mike Mukasey to use DOJ to voter supress. This would have been next to impossible given the active participation in briefs in Ohio and Georgia of DOJ to try to go in the opposite direction, and Mukasey in one of the few honest acts since being in office has turned the White House down. There will be no further interference in Ohio to try to do the same dishonest matching Karen Handel tried to do.
Keep in mind this matching would disqualify you if you used a middle initial on either your driver’s license or voter registration and not on the other. Ditto your Social Security #. This is designed to disqualify people based on hidden traps. It failed in Ohio, and it failed in Georgia.
The military judge in charge of Hamdan’s Show Trial has refused the Bush Administration’s request that the jury re-sentence Hamdan so he won’t be released on Bush’s watch.
Colorado: 52.3% of voters (based on 2004 numbers) have voted. Of the early voters 38.6% are Democrats; 37.9% are Republicans.
Florida: 33% of voters (based on 2004 numbers) have voted. Of the early voters 45% are Democrats; 39% are Republicans.
Iowa: 26% of voters (based on 2004 numbers) have voted. Of the early voters 48% are Democrats; 29% are Republicans.
Louisiana: 14% of voters (based on 2004 numbers) have voted. Of the early voters 58% are Democrats; 28% are Republicans.
Maine: 17% of voters (based on 2004 numbers) have voted. Of the early voters 44% are Democrats; 28.5% are Republicans.
Nevada’s Washoe County (Reno—a swing county): 43% of voters (based on 2004 numbers) have voted. Of the early voters 50% are Democrats; 34% are Republicans.
North Carolina: 52% of voters (based on 2004 numbers) have voted. Of the early voters 53% are Democrats; 29% are Republicans. (In 2004, early voting split 47% Democrats; 37% Republicans.)
West Virginia: 12.5% of voters (based on 2004 numbers) have voted. Of the early voters 59% are Democrats; 31.5% are Republicans.
Of all these swingy and right-leaning states, only Colorado shows Republican and Democratic turnout to be close. Only Florida shows Republicans performing as well as Fox says they will, across the whole election. And some of these numbers—particularly North Carolina and Iowa—show breath-taking leads right now for Democrats.

To make a play on your own word, Jim,
“Spending an estimated three million dollars” Barak Obama recapped the themes of his campaign, the major policy initiatives, and his viewpoint about where the country needs to go in the next few years.
“The story-line here is that if you can tell a story memorably, people can be led to any emotion or any action — including voting for the narrator as President of the United States.” For example, if you tell the American public that Obama is a socialist, communist, anti-Israel, associate with terrorists, you can get them angry and fearful, and they will vote for you.
“This is an example of what happens when there’s too much money in politics.” Just like 2004, George Bush gets elected.
“Are we headed for the Ronco Presidency, the ginsu-knife Infomercial to sell the presidency in the same way we sell Chinese kitchen gadgets?” Probably. Next time the Republicans will do it too because it is quite effective.
Jim, the only problem with your remarks is that if John McCain had raised that kind of money and been the one to make the Infomercial, you would be falling all over yourself finding ways to express how the right candidate can raise the money he needs and smart candidates know how to get their message out to the American people.
Since you won’t say it I will. The right candidate can raise the money he needs and the smart candidate knows how to get his message out. That candidate is Obama.

With the hate I see being spewed by the great O’s disciples, how will this country’s people find common ground for common endeavors? How can one man be a man of good engendering such hate and rhetoric? I find it rather disconcerting to see all this. In my long years I’ve never experienced such. I’m discouraged and sickened by it all.

Palin made the mistake of the of assuming Obama was the typical whimpering bleeding heart liberal. I’m impressed. You can see Obama has backbone.
Hats off to the Dems on this one. This time around their man plays rough just as well as one of ours. Hell, Obama may be a better Republican than old Lefty Flip-Flop McCain.

I hope Palin goes home and faces the music for her misdeeds and then spends some real time taking care of her very needy family. Perhaps she could also read a little about history, economics, and politics. There is no way she has any further hope in politics (see Dan Quayle). No one in their right mind would bring up her name again except as a cautionary tale.

Must we say the same things over and over?
Democrats in Congress did not support the Iraq war after it started and they got tired. They wanted to withdraw. They said the Surge did not work until it was totally obvious. That is why I say Dems in Congress did not SUPPORT the war. They voted for it and then turned against it.
All this has been said before. My father, my husband and my son were all in the military. Why do you think you are the only one with members of your family in the miitary? You act like you are.
I support the military in words and actions. I also support the government of the USA when we are at war. I do not run down a decorated veteran who was a POW for almost five years (while Dems try to act like being a POW is nothing.)Clinton did cut the military no matter how you split it up. You are simply following the Democratic way of blaming Bush. Go ahead if it makes you feel any better.
You may call a McCain vote a one way vote but it is also support for the military. Among other things which I think make Obama unsuitable for the presidency is his lack of military training.
I once thought you could think a bit straighter than some others here. But, I see there is no need for any discussion with you. People like Repubs R Crooks will agree with you 100%. Enjoy…

Everyone should step back take a deep breath and CHECK the facts on the caidates.Factcheck.com is a good place to look. And as for the Obama infomerical it was paid for by the people who donated to the campaign. Along with everything else. The ads and so forth of McCain’s was paid for by US!!! McCain started off with bad jugdement. Picking Palin was not in his best interest. She has proven that now. As she is trying to make a name for her self. She has put an I in TEAM. that doesn’t work. Her behavior is deplorable. She says she put country first? She put herself first. I am so enraged with the McCain/Palin ticket. Their insistence on Obama being a terrorist is appalling. Palin making this topic a priority has now gotten totally out of hand. This is not a charge you accuse someone of lightly. We are now seeing the the repercussions of her horrific behavior. She is not just another “Average Joe.” She is running for the second highest office in the United States. She and McCain promise if elected, they will keep us safe. How can they honestly stand before us and promise that? Knowing full well that she has continuously tried inciting fear in American people about Barack Obama. She hasn’t directly brought up race. Maybe she feels that is unethical? And, accusing a man of terrorism isn’t? When you are asking people to TRUST you. And give you the PRIVILEGE of serving them, you should have ethics. This despicable behavior has become a very big concern with allot of Americans. Even more so now. With the recent report of a plan to assassinate Bacrack Obama and other African Americans. This has got to STOP before it goes to far. Candidates are supposed to be running on the issues, not on untruths. On the issues that will make our country a better place. I AM just an “AVERAGE JOE”. I will be voting for a future not a past!!!!

The Obama-ites are flocking around Barack Obama like little birds with their mouths open waiting for the government to feed them. They think their messiah will save them and give them reparations and hand them the fruits of the labor of others so they don’t have to work. They want the government to GIVE and GIVE and GIVE and don’t expect to be required to do anything to earn it. What they don’t realize is that WE are the government. Who will feed the baby birds when the taxpayer well runs dry and there is no more flesh to pick off of our bones? Are they so delusional that they think the middle class can survive an Obama presidency? Where will we work when the few decent paying jobs left in America are gone because the corporate and personal income tax rates are back at the levels where Jimmy Carter had them before Ronald Reagan pulled the plug on the Democrat tax machine? Who will start the new businesses and hire new workers when there is no incentive left for honest hardworking people to take a risk or a financial system left to provide them capital? Do not be deceived. There is no way Obama can pay for his socialist agenda without squeezing the middle class. What will happen when we are all forced to become baby birds because we can no longer afford to live and pay our bills and send our children to college? What will the Obama-messiah do then? How can he spread the wealth where there is none and take a piece of a pie that no longer exists? Wake up America before it’s too late.

Wooten is just a typical conservative cynic who sees the world in negative image. Cheer the righteous Republicans for every glorious step down into ruin. Jeer the loathsome Democrats every backward step of the way, yes BACK up to streength and respect in the world again. We can be confident this is how it will go, because the Democrats have already cleaned up GOP messes twice before - Kennedy and Clinton. We have to tolerate these ‘conservatives’ like we have to tolerate mosquitos, leeches, and chiggers. Don’t let them bother you, they’re about as intelligent too.
