John McCain lives!
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Joe the plumber may turn out to be the most memorable non-candidate of the political season.
John McCain, speaking to Joe, a plumber who had questioned Barack Obama’s tax proposals, explained to Joe the differences in his tax and health care proposals and Obama’s. “I want to tell you,” McCain said to Joe, “I’ll keep your taxes low…I will not stand for tax increases.”
His use of Joe to offer a narrative on the impact of Obama’s policies was among his most effective approaches of the campaign. Finally, he may have communicated in a meaningful way with the voters who don’t pay much attention to politics.
The last of the debates was easily to best of them. The format allowed the two to stay on a topic long enough to have revealing exchanges — even to the point of giving McCain an opportunity to point out to viewers the nuances of language that the eloquent Obama uses to mislead.
McCain did it effectively in a couple of instances — once when Obama declared that he would “look at” offshore drilling, while repeating the misleading assertion that oil companies have 68 million acres under lease that they’re not tapping. The missing element is, of course, that those tracts most likely contain little or no recoverable oil. McCain used that as a teachable moment on the deceptions of political rhetoric.
He did it again on abortion, where Obama said he favored a “health” of the mother exception. As McCain noted, that’s a huge loophole favored by pro-choice supporters. It can be interpreted to mean anything.
It remains to be seen whether this debate helps McCain recover in the polls. But whether he does or not, this was his best performance and, for the viewer, it was the best opportunity yet to get beneath the surface of the talking points.
Two asides here: One is that the moderator asked two questions that reflect the Washington media perspective. One was to explain “why the country would be better off if your running mate is President rather than his running mate?” That’s clearly directed at Sarah Palin and the left’s view that she is not qualified to be President. The second was asked more directly: “Do you think (the vice presidential candidate) is qualified to be President?”

Obama wins big time, the only who truly speaks to the American people and tackle the issues. He is showing intelligence, calm, determination! McCain is confused and stuck into ideology! The choice is clear. OBAMA WILL BE PRESIDENT!

McCain’s best debate, but Obama won the debate. McCain seems incapable of speaking directly to the middle class, and I think that’s what is going to hurt him the most with independents.

Come on: the Joe plumber thing was pretty silly. Basically, McCain’s position was that, as a small business person, he would be taxed if he made less than $200K a year, which is a position that Obama has refuted umpteen times by now. So McCain lied to Joe Plumber.
If McCain really wanted to talk to Joe Plumber, he should have said that, if he made under $200K a year, he could have a tax credit of $5K a year to go and try to find health insurance for himself and his family (assuming that the adjusters found absolutely no hint of any preexisting condition whatsoever in any family member), which McCain would tax, but that Joe Plumber could make up for his personal health care expenses by refusing to provide healthcare for any employees, if he still has any.

Jim, you and I could not have been viewing the same debate!!!! John McCain came off as being VERY angry and desperate!!!!!!!!! The approach that McCain took (overly and unnecessarily agressive)only shows the lack of substance that he has when it comes to the real issues that face everyday Americans. We need a leader who, even in times of disagreement with others, remains cool and level-headed. After all, the security and well-being of our country may be at stake and I certainly do not want a president who throws a bigger tantrum than my three year old!!!! LIKE IT OR NOT, JOHN MCCAIN IS NOT THE MAN FOR THE JOB OF PRESIDENT and his childish, disrespectful actions tonight only further prove this point.

That Joe the plumber thing was dumb. If McCain wants to make people who make more than $250K+ a year and complain their taxes are too high his cause, more power to him. What else can you expect from a guy who doesn’t know how many houses he has?

Another humorous moment: McCain actually ridiculed Obama for wanting to “spread the wealth.” I realize he was trying to manipulate a buzz word, but what could the opposing position be but to “hoard the wealth?”

If this thing is a blow out by Obama, how come he isn’t 20 points up? Dems seem pretty cocky to me. Keep the trash talking going. I remember the exit polls in the last election had Kerry winning. That turned out well for you. May be an upset in the making come November. Obama is a poser. Talks a good game, but I don’t think he can deliver.

Jim, you do get it - you looked beyond the glib talking points and dulcimer tones of Sen Obama to the real substance of his speech. Sen McCain is certainly not polished, but is both in knowledge and integrity leagues above Sen Obama - O. brings nothing of the kind of experience and background needed for the presidency. His spread the wealth ideology spells socialism - well I guess people will find out the hard way what that means. If he gets in it will be worse than the Carter years.

Record of voting Carter( messed that up), Reagan-twice(happy with that choice), Bush (what was I thinking), Clinton twice (happy with choice), Bush (WHAT WAS I THINKING), Kerry (lost one), McCain because I can not stomach voting for a Socialist that is left of Pelosi. Would have voted for Clinton but seems more people want to go back to the Carter years. Oh well, hopefully 4 years of the extreme left will not break our country. Everyone must get a clue what has the government ever done well. Only two things defend us and make everyone our brothers keeper. So much for personal responsibility. By the way I have encountered more vicious people this year than ever. It will be 50/50 again with hardly anyone in the middle.

McClain won Joe Plumber’s vote, the rest went to Obama. I fully expect Obama to win Florida and Virginia after this debate putting the Republican ticket at the point of no return.
McCain promissed his campaign staff a win tonight in the last debate, did not happen, all polls will show McCain lossing tonights debate.
Neither candidate passed judgement on the ability of the VP to make a good President so why bring it up?

McCain did really well. I noticed that Obama didn’t really want to speak about ACORN and AYERS. When pressed he was very bland.
McCain does speak to Middle Class and small business. I have a business and under Obama’s plan I would loose more money and have to let people go. With tax cuts, I can create more jobs…..
OBama has said that he wouldn’t raise taxes, but he did raise for ppl who make $42k, go to congress.gov…. look at the bills.
$250k is not alot for small business, this is not profits, I WISH!!! but you have overhead, taxes state/federal/city, tangible, etc…. you can go over 250 but it doesn’t mean that I am making a big profit or even at all.
Where is Obama’s birth certificate?
Both men are really intelligent, but I would hate to see my future placed in the hands of a man who doesn’t have the experience.
I love Karl Marx and Lenin but I am not particularly interested in living in Russia, Venzuela or Cuba.

McCain’s demeanor wasn’t presidential. Reminded me of (W)imp Bush.
Obama clearly wants to invest in America; not Iraq, Japan or So. Korea.
On the economy, health care and education Obama won hands down.
McCain was too emotional; eyes blinking rapidly, and seemed to be on the verge of tearing up. He seemed to sense his chances were slipping away.

Yes, a most lively debate. I thought McCain enjoyed this one and was very sharp. Obama at times seemed like he had gotten a bit tangled. That he had forgotten what he had memorized.
Also, watchng Obama try to wander off on questions he did not want to answer became very obvious. He is adept at avoiding the truth when necessary. McCain would jump right in and bring the subject back for a real answer.
McCain also hit on Obama’s weak points such as voting against the free trade agreement with Columbia, our South American ally. McCain brought up other points which required a lot of talking from Obama, ‘specially his tendancy to vote “present” on many issues in the Senate.
Whether Americans who have not followed all the information around this election will be swayed in any way by this debate is hard to tell. I doubt that it made any difference to many. I think a nice speech from a young graceful man may mean more to some people than strong leadership for this country.
I thought McCain was the winner in this debateby his true appearance as a real leader of strength. But…Obama may be the first USA president elected on charm instead of experience and integrity. We shall see.

Wooten continues to be out of touch with reality on the ground. McCain’s health care policy is rejected by the majority of Americans which would cause an average family to be $8000 short of insurance coverage if they had no pre-existing conditions. Joe the Plumber is not as stupid is Wooten wishes he or she were, and they know McCain has continued to distort and conflate Obama’s tax proposals. In 19 days the vacuous Palkin, who is less qualified than every white collar worker at the AJC and is a total airhead unless she is scripted (and can’t define most of the words written for her) will be gone back to face aditional inverstigations and a possible federal indictment for the bribery she took to build her $12.5 million house. It’s over Wooten. Chambliss is fighting for his life and may lose. McConnel is behind in Kentucky, and a 60 vote majority for the Dems in the Senate is a real possibility. McCain doesn’t “live.” He buried himself and his poorly educated Georgette Wallace twit running mate long ago. He flipflops and contradicts himself erratically every hour and his running mate is charged with KKKesque hatred as are most of your Republican friends.

To respond briefly to ani -
actually the $250,000 IS the profits - it isn’t $250,000 gross that would be taxed, but $250,000 net - that means making a profit of $250,000 and more would be taxed. Puts things in a totally different perspective. As Obama said, 95% of small businesses don’t have $250,000 net and would not have a tax increase.

I finally figured out another one of McCain’s sarcastic remarks. After some discussion, McCain said several times “Joe Plumber, you’re rich, your rich,” implying that, if Joe Plumber did make over $250K, he would be subject to the Obama tax plan. McCain was trying to be sarcastic and suggest that a person making that much money is not rich.
The irony is that, if Joe Plumber made $250K, he would be rich compared to most Americans. It is concerning that multiple-homestead McCain still thinks that rich is $5 million a year or some outrageous amount.
Rich is a relative word, but McCain’s perspective is inconsistent for someone claiming the position of cleaning up a govenment corrupted by big financial players.

You don’t need to be an accountant to understand that McCain’s plan that Congress would never approve adds 5 grand on to income—and is taxed so that if a nuclear family of 4 has a $13,000 anual insurance premium, they would be 8 grand short. Instead of invoking an accountant try reading Holtz-Eakin’s plan that he dictated to McCain who doesn’t have an original economic thought except to make sure Sugarmommy Beer Fortune doesn’t divorce him or screw him with their prenup.
McCain’s wife has individual plastic with a half million on each of them, and the daughters have 50 grand on each of there’s. McCain’s daughter graduated Columbia with an art history major and years later has never held a job for a day.

It is also sad that W the incompetent has twice cost Senator McCain the white house. The first time by sliming him before the South Carolina primary in 2000. The Joe comments are completely plausible. Don’t we all know that if businesses and corporations get a tax increase, that just means we the consumers will have to pay more, thus decreasing consumer spending and hurting our economy even more? Also, why should the people who worked hard for their money (those who make over 250,000) HAVE to put some of their money towards giving the “middle class” free money? This does not promote innovation or encourage people to strive for the American dream.

McCain’s absurd denigration of maternal health issues besides death in clinical abortion situations reminds me of the pathetic bills submitted by Wootinista Mayetta Big Chicken’s own Bobby Franklin who ridiculously tried to attach House Bill 1 (a bill that purported to execute physicians for performing abortions that are legal per existing state law and Rowe) to Senate Bill 1 (a bill on dog collar removal). It will gain Obama votes and remind Hillary supporters that three potential Supreme Court appointments are pending, and in 20 days we will all realize they ain’t going to be Scalia, Allito or Roberts appointments (from what Wooten would characterize as my Jerry Springer engaged point of view and educational level.

Like Palin and Wooten, you resort to the name calling that other kids visited on you between the ages of 5-10. If you have the ability to make any specific points, butress your vacous generalizations with anything specific, or ask a specific question, you would have done so by now.
This sums up major reasons besides the moron Palin why McCain is losing states he thought would be in play by double digets. Only two cowards would continue to make their stand in crowds and cities dominated by the hard core Republican base. It is a strategic mistake of epic proportions, and an index of how much the country is rejecting McCain and the base and the Wootens of the world.

John McCain lives!
Yup, on life support!
I thought he did exceptionally well for a man who doesn’t seem to have an especially good grasp of his own policies, who thought that a semi-literate yokel who is unable to say what she reads (because she doesn’t?) is qualified to be one of his limited number of heartbeats away from the presidency, who thinks that at 72, you can still be cute. Yeah, he was great.
At least he was confined to a chair tonight instead of wandering around the stage like a nursing home inmate in his bedroom slippers.

Good Thursday morning, Jim.
I didn’t realize the blog would be open on Wednesday night.
Barring some act of providential intervention, Barack Obama will be the next President of the United States!
Eight years of the gross incompetency of George W. Bush, the collapse of the American housing market, and the disarray of the American financial system and the financial systems of the world insures that a conservative, albeit one as shaky as McCain, cannot be elected.
The nation, instead, is turning toward a modern form of socialism. Even the dunce, Bush, has been caught-up in the ardor of “government intervention” and “intrusion.” His $750 billion bail-out, coupled with another $100 billion of pork, has changed, forever, American capitalism and moved the country more toward a corporatist state. A corporatist state is simply an ultra capitalist state, which ironically is run the same way a communist state is run…power in the hands of a very few sting pullers!
Obama will complete the transition. He will move American institutions…schools, health care, and the social services organizations further and further toward the left. He will redistribute the money…whose money?…our money!…and share it, appropriately, with the scum who sit on their a*ses and draw checks from the government. Hell, maybe it is time I became one of those.
McCain did poorly last evening. His attempts to question the character of Obama were sophomoric at best. He came across as a cynical, old man lashing out at a fresh face full of forward thinking ideas for the future.
In all of this the thing I find most amusing, yet sad, is the fact that although Barack Obama is half white, he is perceived as being a black man. That being true, it is ironic that his election, likely, is going to be as a result of the color of his skin as opposed to the content of his character. I wonder what Dr. King would think about that.

Obama knows that he can take Joe Plumber’s money and give it to five Democrats. He loses Joe’s vote but he gets the votes of five democrats. Net four votes.
So Joe closes his business, costing several jobs. Who cares when Obama is going to support them anyway off the backs of those that still work.
Obama calls this fair.
What the leftists need to do is revisit the history of socialism vs capitalism and take note of which system benefits the most.

Jesse Jackson has lashed out at Post columnist Amir Taheri for having the temerity to take note of some Jackson predictions on how a President Barack Obama would approach the Middle East.
The “Zionists who have controlled American policy for decades” remain strong, Jackson told Taheri at the World Policy Forum in France, but the “decades of putting Israel’s interests first” would end during an Obama presidency.
Not surprisingly, those words had Obama’s aides quickly running for cover.
A spokesman stressed that Jackson is “not an adviser to the Obama campaign and is therefore in no position to interpret or share Barack Obama’s views on Israel and foreign policy.”
As for Jackson himself, he accused our colleague of trying “to incite fear and division” and of “selectively imposing his own point of view and distorting mine.”
But he didn’t actually deny saying what Taheri said he said.
And, Jackson’s protests notwithstanding, there’s really no alternate interpretation to a charge that “Zionists … have controlled American policy for decades.”
Again, he meant what he said.
Until things blew up in his face.
Jesse Jackson needs to shut up and realize that his biggest enemy is his mouth.

Jim, Stop trying to get yourself into the spot light; AJC is still gonna lay some of you guys off; and if you think McCain is concerned about you, then while you are trying to refuel for the next wave, I would suggest that you review the debate. Don’t get besides yourself dude. You are “Joe”. McCain was negative, and easily offended on real issues, especially the insurance plan under Obama’s administration which will help employees who are paying high cost for health care. McCain says he wants to refund $5,000. back to individuals who have health insurance, but what about those individuals who can’t afford health insurance at all, and how will he supplement his actions? I believe McCain will stick with Bush, raise the gas prices to $10/gal. then change the subject when “we” the Americans start asking him questions, just like he did in the debate several times! America don’t get lead to the slaughter again. Bush still have our troops (sons, daughters, husbands, wives, mothers, fathers, friends, and future leaders) fighting a war which has’nt solved America’s problems yet! And now Bush is about to finish his term with unfinished business. NOW THAT’S BEING LEAD TO THE SLAUGHTER (BECCA)! You get it now honey!

Jim get off the old man & get onto the Gal..Here’s our today’s Palin…
Palin Too Close for Comfort It’s time to start taking Sarah Palin seriously.
Though the latest polls show the Obama-Biden ticket ahead, the Alaska governor is still uncomfortably close to becoming vice president of the United States. The thought should concentrate the mind of every American who remembers the abuse of executive power by the administration of Richard Nixon. Just look at what Palin has done, in a short time, with the authority delegated to her by Alaskans.
The “Troopergate” report, conducted by an independent investigator and released Friday by a bipartisan legislative committee, tells the tale. It documents the campaign that Palin and her husband Todd waged to get her former brother-in-law fired from the Alaska state troopers.
Palin did, indeed, have the authority to dismiss the state’s public safety commissioner, the report says. But she violated a state law, the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act, which prohibits state officials from taking actions that benefit personal interest. According to the report: Palin abused her power as governor when she “knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda, to wit: to get Trooper Michael Wooten fired.”
I shudder to think of the Internal Revenue Service, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Central Intelligence Agency and the Pentagon at her beck and call.
The role played by Todd in carrying out his wife’s vendetta was highly unusual. He had no official duties in government. He acknowledged, however, that he made numerous calls to state officials to press his case against the governor’s ex-brother-in-law.
It’s been well reported that Todd Palin’s involvement in his wife’s official business unsettled some Alaskans. He has been known to sit in on the governor’s meetings, use her office for his own meetings and intervene in state business using his status as “First Gentleman.” Clearly, he’s a man with a lot of time on his hands.
What if he assumed the same role in Washington? Imagine Todd in a town that has no use for snow machines (which he loves to ride) or work for commercial fishermen (of which he is one, during the summer months). What would he do? Would he follow the vice president to her White House office? Join her meetings in the Situation Room? Sit in on her daily national security briefings?
Where does Todd Palin stand on America anyway? Neither he nor Sarah Palin ever explained his seven-year membership in the Alaska Independence Party, a group that seeks a vote on secession from America. “I’m an Alaskan, not an American” was the slogan of the party’s founder, Joe Vogler, who also said “I’ve got no use for America or her damned institutions” and “I won’t be buried under their damned flag.” What made Todd Palin hitch his wagon to that anti-American train when Alaska offered the Democratic and Republican parties?
Troopergate shows the Palins to be small-bore people unable to distinguish selfish personal interests from official responsibilities. Imagine the power of the U.S. government at their disposal.
The prospect of Vice President Sarah Palin is no laughing matter.

The fact that the news media and especially NBC are pulling for Obama is well known. What is disturbing, however, is slanting in reporting that is not factual. Wednesday night NBC’s truth squad put up a percentage of negative ads slide and stated that McCain had 70%+ negative ads. Nothing was said about Obama’s 60%+. This was a flawed attempt at disputing McCain’s comment on Obama. What is puzzling is that neither candidate said anything about % of ads. McCain stated that Obama spent more money in negative ads, which is probably true.
On their web site today NBC stated that McCain’s proposal to buy mortgages is more costly to taxpayers. It is deceiving. If a home buyer gets a reduced loan, he has to pay tax on the amount of the reduction. In the 1980’s, when Buyers cut deals to lower their mortgages by accepting higher interest rates, they were stuck with huge taxes on the reduced loan.

[Marcus Baram]
In the wake of the third presidential debate, the McCain campaign and its Republican supporters hit the airwaves to repeat their talking points about how their candidate handily beat Barack Obama. And plenty of conservative pundits on TV and online were convinced that McCain won the debate.
But in the blogosphere, it was a different story with numerous bloggers, from the sanctified realm of the National Review’s Corner blog to independent conservative voices, expressing dismay with McCain’s performance and his inability to land a crucial knockout punch this late in the campaign.
“A minute they spend on who’s being meaner or more dishonest in this campaign is a minute that helps Obama—not because he wins the issue, still less because he deserves to win it, but because it is not what is driving people’s votes—and they’ve spent way more than a minute on this stuff,” wrote National Review senior editor Ramesh Ponnuru on The Corner.
Rod Dreher, a conservative Christian columnist, declared the race over to Obama’s benefit:
OK, that’s over. And so is the McCain campaign. He was more aggressive than he’s been so far, and he came close to landing some blows on Obama. But he never really connected, and for the most part this debate was as platitudinous as they all have been. McCain came off as sour, agitated and petulant. Obama — man, nothing rattles that guy. McCain was two tics away from a vein-popping “You can’t handle the truth!” Jack Nicholson moment, I felt. At one point, I thought: Which one of these men would I want in the White House when the 3 a.m. phone call comes in?
And Paul Mirengoff, who writes for the conservative Powerline blog, wrote that:
Ultimately, it seems unlikely that McCain cut into Obama’s lead through this performance. And Obama may have taken another small step towards making Americans comfortable with the prospect of his presidency.
Over at Pajamas Media, Jennifer Rubin felt that McCain didn’t improve his chance tonight:
At times McCain seemed to connect with a jab or a punch here or there, but his argument at times wavered and his delivery was far from crisp. As for Obama, he was at his calmest and smoothest. If McCain needed to knock Obama off his perch of serenity it didn’t happen.[Sam Stein]
Not to harp on facial expressions but Democrats are absolutely giddy (and sometimes irate) over the way McCain presented himself during tonight’s debate - everything from his eye rolls to his cadence.
A Democratic researcher spent the evening counting the Arizona Republican’s blinks, and tallied more than 3,000 during the night’s affair — three thousand blinks in a 90-minute time span. Meanwhile, another Democrat sends over the clip of McCain in a “deer in the headlights” look when Obama was discussing his tax policy. Maybe the most damning could be when the two candidates debated the topic of abortion and McCain felt compelled to gesture ‘quotation marks’ when discussing exemptions for a mother’s health.
These may seem like cherry-picked moments of confusion, rage or disdain. But they seem to have left a remarkable impression on the voters. For starters, polling showed people leaving the affair with a more unfavorable opinion of the Republican nominee. Here were Democratic pollster Stan Greenberg’s findings.
Before the debate: McCain: 54 favorable / 34 unfavorable, Obama: 42 favorable / 42 unfavorable.
After the debate: McCain: 50 favorable / 48 unfavorable, Obama: 72 favorable / 22 unfavorable
But mainly, the facial expressions convey a lack of calm that everyone from average voters to seasoned political observers say is a damaging trait for a presidential candidate in the midst of an economic crisis.
“I thought McCain swerved off track,” said David Gergen on CNN. “He got over-emotional about it. He looked angry, and it was almost like an exercise in anger management up there for him to contain himself.”

I am a proud republican who will not abandon my party or my president for some cheap political gain.
If our base had not split its vote between Romney, Huckabee and Thompson, McCain would not be our nominee. Think about that - if Romney was our nominee (or even our VP nominee), this true fiscal conservative and proven business leader would lend credibility to discussions relating to our faltering economy. Instead we have some pot smoking, gay rights advocate from Alaska to speak for our party.
I watched Joe Biden on NBC this morning spin his party’s take on the debate, getting about five more minutes of free national tv time. Where was our VP nominee? She again declined to be interviewed, thus giving up this free opportunity.
I am furious with John McCain for abandoning our Party and our President. I am furious that last night John McCain would not even acknowledge our Vice-President’s illness nor wish him a speedy recovery.
John McCain wanted the party’s nomination but doesn’t want to be associated with our President or our party. He wants our campaign contribution but wants to see if he can put more distance between himself and our President that even the democrat nominee.
The democrat party offers no alternative for me. I will not reward John McCain’s betrayal of our Party or of our President. I don’t have to hear anymore, my mind is made up. I will leave the president ballot line blank when I vote today.

Stop the madness people, “your” vote does not put anyone in office. Registar as many losers and scums as you like, vote as many times as you can lie and your vote still does not put your man in office. If I recall, Bush lost the popular vote but still became President. Oh, and by the way, the President makes $245,000 a year, $5001 short of being in the Obama tax plan. Do not punish the ones that work hard and make money, flat tax everyone the same amount which in return would reduced the IRS’s payrole and result in less goverment. 10%, if you make $10,000 a year you pay $1000 in taxes, if you make $1,000,000 a year you pay $100,000, and so on, and so on, simple isn’t it. Maybe to simple for the educated person. 10% may not be the answer, but if it is godd enough for GOD, it is good enough for the Goverment.

Joe the Plumber would have been effective if McCain was right about the facts on Obama’s plan, but he was wrong, as usual. Joe would benefit from a Capital Gains Tax break if he bought the business.
McCain had the best line of the night, but overall his tone and demeanor were just not on at all. The base will love, as did you Jim, but for the independent voters, I think he really missed the mark. And I’m pretty sure that any “Hillary voters” are gone after the debate about abortion. Obama was very clear that we are not “pro-abortion” we are pro-choice to leave that decision up to the woman, the doctor and her family. McCain mocked the “health” of the woman to mean anything, even Republican strategists thought his tone during that particular segment was way off.
Two asides. A man that wealthy should be able to afford to get his teeth a bit whiter. They’re getting a deeper yellow by the day and against his pale skin his teeth really look disgusting.
Can he control the use of his tongue so he doesn’t look like he’s imitating a lizard? Between the constant blinking and that tongue flick, he just looks really creepy, especially in closeup.

Wooten this is probably as good as it will get for you. In lieu of McCain winning (ain’t gonna happen!) you can sport a small wry grin and take comfort in knowing that your guy did at best “okay” in one debate. He still lacked substance and was visibly irritated with some of Obama’s logic. Obama was unflappable and he took his time to intelligently and fully dispel every non-election related myth McCain threw his way. What debate were the people who think McCain won looking at?I’m not sure why Obama has taken such a high road and not blasted McCain for the Keating 5, Palin’s husband not wanting to be part of the US and a myriad of other things. I admire Obama’s tact, but he had the ability to call a dog a dog, and McCain is nothing but an old dog. He has basically tried to separate himself from GW and the whole Republican’t (not a typo)administration through a veiled mask of non-association. It’s as if he has not had a part or a vote in any of the policies that are strangling this country, and we all know the truth. McCain has no clue what the average American is going through, because it has never been a part of his world. He should simply saunter off into the sunset and enjoy whatever is left of his life. His absolute joke of a running mate has also proven to be a gross mistake. Let’s see how many friends he will have after he loses. This is all but a done deal for Obama, and I can’t wait for the new leadership.

Iam not a smelly Dead Carcass-John Mccain
Maybe not a carcass, but you sure smell like one-Barack Obama!!
John Mccain came out lively, seemingly on viagra and won the first 30 minutes. But as in all fleeting induced performances,he wore out and lacked stamina.Barack killed him on middle class issues, health and education issues for wich Mccain had no answer, other than the angry contortoted look on his face.Clearly lacking in talking points later on and substance to press his issues.
It was Mccain’s best debate performance by far,but not enough to articulate his positions and he had no consistent theme. Fox news Britt Hume and Bill Krystol have clearly thrown the towel for him as evidenced by their commentary after.
The Cracass is clearly ready to be buried, but let the bleeding contunue a little more slowly before we dumb it!! This will be a landslide.

Matt, whatever economic future America will have to withstand during Obama’s administration, figuring the blame for it will take teams of economists working around the clock at the fed level in washington; it will take years to decipher the data, costs millons of dollars, and thousands of lives.
They’re still blaming Hoover for the Great Depression, or at least making it worse with his tax policy.
But look at the data. Start after the civil war. The economy is boom and bust. always exists in Cycles.
Now, after WW2, we had seemed to solve the extremes of the cycle. But then the global economy matured. Now, the boom and bust cycle is a global phenomena with entwined intricacies that defy analysis. If we jump off a cliff, so does China, and the Middle East, and South America, and of course, Litchenstein. (and vice versa, and so on, and so on, and moron….)
Maybe one of the many economic predictions will pan out, but there’s nobody with the credibility to be believed about the causes of this bust.
We are truly in unchartered territory, and we may lose our country for it. By transforming dire economic stakes into geo-political stakes, this bailout may be the book of the dead.
So take your own impressively pointed sense of cyclical undulations and rotate, sir.

You can thank your “lord god” President, George W. Bush, for insuring that our country is about to enter the most socialist era in our history!
By virtue of Bush’s gross incompetence, Barack Obama has been able to appeal to the moderate independent voters who see Bush for what he is…a corporatist…and who now will join with the ultra-liberals in embracing more and more governmental intrusion into our lives.
Yep…all you Bushites should really enjoy the next four years.

After reading all the conservative comments, it is obvious that you people believe whatever you are told and do not investigate facts, and that most of your arguments are not based on reason. It is clear both though his demeanor and his choice of VP, that McCain is would be a dangerous chice for President. Well, I felt downright sorry for that Joe the Plumber that makes more than $200,000 a year and won’t be able to buy the business if Obama gets elected. Poor guy, it probly takes him 100 days to make that much at $175 a house visit.
I recall a story about a plumber that showed up at a house and spent 10 minutes fixing a faucet. He handed the customer a bill for $250. The customer done some figuring and told the plumber “That’s a rate of $1500 a hour. Even a brain surgeon don’t make that much.” The plumber said, “I know, I use to be a brain surgeon.”
Anyhow, we’ll never get Trickle Down if there’s nothing to Trickle Down. So lets shovel the tax cuts to the people that make the big money. Sooner or later they’ll get sick of wallowing in all that money and start spending it. And that’s when us little people will start getting the trickle.
So vote for old man McCain and Trickle Down. In 20 or 30 years you’ll be glad you done it.
Have a good day everybody.

Go ahead Obama…Tax corporations more…..
All the naive people who voted for you will be laid off as a result of their jobs going overseas…..
As a laid off employee of thesse corporations these people will no longer be able to afford the goods this corporation is producing, because the taxes on thm will increase their prices….
But hey, all you out of work Obama supporters can now go suckle up to the cow that is the Government for what you need to live….Don’t worry Obama will take care of everything…….
Obama will tell you what to do, when to do it, how to do it, and why its good (for him) that you do it……
If you aspire to be a “ward of the Federal Government”, then go ahead, vote for Obama. Let him reset/compromise your moral compass to suit his purpose.
Boy thats really going to improve our standing in the world and the prosperity of America…..NOT. All the smooth talk in the world cannot mask the Obama master manipulation plan.
Most of the Obama poster here with the repeat and repeat postings trying to drown anyones voice but their own, are only concerned with saying:
“Look at the polls, we are winning”, “Give up, it will be over soon”, “we have won already”.
Do you really understand?
What is it you think you are winning with Obama? Do you think he’s gonna invite you to his table at the White House?
Nope…No President does that….Don’t expect different with him if elected.
Got news for you. Obama is just the face of a bigger democratic plan… A plan that is no good for America. Great debater? Eloquent speaker? Intelligent? Yes…..
A track record of leadership? Integrity, Judgement? Proven service? No…….
On the subject of Obama’s wife (who holds alot of influence over Obama) she reminds me of “The Real Houswives Of Atlanta” commercials I have seen…. If that is the pressence and contribution she brings to the table…NO THANKS!
Lastly……. John McCain does not need to wear a symbol of support, such as an American Flag. * He is a walking, talking, living symbol by his very being.*
* Have some respect for the only PROVEN patriot in this race.*
For God sakes, you Obama supporters would trample the American Flag yourselves if it mean’t electing Obama.
What a shame…. Americans are supposed to be better than this no matter who you vote for.

Barack Obama was exposed for the true Marxist that he is in last nights debate. Barack Obama has every intention to redistribute YOUR MONEY to the losers, tyrants and the lazy do nothings of the world. It is now common knowledge that Obama will tax us into a major depression within three years of assuming office. What John McCain did not mention was the current US Senate Bill S2433 that Barack Obama is sponsoring. Obama’s S2433 Senate Bill will cost American’s an additional 845 Billion in new taxes. The money that is fleeced from us by Obama’s S2433 will be given to the corrupt UN, specifically for the “UN Global Poverty Act”. Your money will then be REDISTRIBUTED to third world dictators mostly in Africa. To take money from people who earned it the hard way and give it to those that did nothing to deserve it is Marxism in it’s purest form. I don’t owe third word tyrants a dime, do you? Joe Biden is also on board for this massive step into Marxism. Google: “Obama’s S2433” and read how Obama plans to redistribute your hard earned wealth. Make sure you afford Obama’s “Change” before you vote for the terrorist loving, Marxist Obama. Truthfully, Eli Jones

McCain wants to lower taxes for ALL AMERICANS. Why is it you dont want that too. After all companies are the ones who creat jobs that pay your salary and allow you to live. McCain is right, lower corporate taxes and it will create jobs and raise revenue. I just dont know what the problem is with you democrates wanting to raise taxes on the people that employ you.
Point, Obama will raise taxes and give the middle and lower income a tax credit. This credit may be 500.00. Ok so now you have dumped thousands of jobs and your getting a 500 dollar check. How many of these checks do you think you will get? And yes Obama will tax the 500.00. Tax rebates are always taxed and will last you what 1 day. Oh and lets also state a fact that most of the people that will get this check have no tax liability anyway. So whats this prove. It’s funny. Those people who are so committed to Obama would not acknowledge that McCain did a good job, much less actually won last night’s debate, even if Obama said he agreed with everything McCain said and withdrew fromo the race. I think the most telling thing that came out of last night was the snippet on Obama’s conversation with Joe the Plumber, during which he said spreading the wealth around is a good thing. That should be the most damning thing in this election. Apparently, liberals have forgotten how this country was made great in the first place. Individual effort, hard working, and enterprise. By taking from those who have abided by those principles and giving it to those who have not, it is indeed socialism. Then again, keeping the masses in their place, telling them they cannot succeed without the intervention of the Demnocratic Party, and the “rob from the rich give to the poor” mentality is what’s kept the Dems around for decades. Key to success boys and girls? Stay in school, get as good an education as you can, find a decent job (because you’re educated) and work hard. Don’t get in huge debt. Save and invest. Is it easy? Nope. But it works. Or at least it used to before Obama might get elected.

No question about it, Jim, John McCain won the debate and began a process which should help him win independent voters. Obama looked nervous and unsure - characteristic traits for Sen. Government.
Clearly, McCain pointed out the deception and semantic gamesmanship that Sen. Government plays. Ultimately, it came across quite clear to the ‘thinking class’ that Obama will play whatever tune his Dem masters want him to fiddle as he is but little more than a disingenuous mouthpiece.
McCain gets it.
I don’t want higher taxation. Just add up the normal tab for each year. Here’s what the government confiscates from you annually. Here’s what the ‘slave class’ pays: federal Income taxes, state Income taxes, Property taxes, Sales taxes, Ad Valorem taxes, Motor Fuels taxes, Social Security taxes, Medicare taxes. Did I miss any?
The typical middle-class family making $75,000 per year with a mortgage is paying $20,200 - $25,000 in taxes annually. That’s up to one-third of their income each and every year. Now, I don’t begrudge the military, or certain other necessary government functions, but McCain seems to understand that government must not be in the business of redistribution.
And don’t get me started on federal takeover of our healthcare but suffice it to say if you like public housing, you’ll love public healthcare.

Love her or hate her she is absolutely right. In EVERY election since Carter, the media has had democrat presidential candidates winning by large margins.
EIGHTY-FOUR PERCENT SAY THEY’D NEVER LIE TO A POLLSTER
by Ann Coulter
With an African-American running for president this year, there has been a lot of chatter about the “Bradley effect,” allowing the media to wail about institutional racism in America.
Named after Tom Bradley, who lost his election for California governor in 1982 despite a substantial lead in the polls, the Bradley effect says that black candidates will poll much stronger than the actual election results.
First of all, if true, this is the opposite of racism: It is fear of being accused of racism. For most Americans, there is nothing more terrifying than the prospect of being called a racist. It’s scarier than flood or famine, terrorist attacks or flesh-eating bacteria. To some, it’s even scarier than “food insecurity.”
Political correctness has taught people to lie to pollsters rather than be forced to explain why they’re not voting for the African-American.
This is how two typical voters might answer a pollster’s question: “Whom do you support for president?”
Average Obama voter: “Obama.” (Name of average Obama voter: “Mickey Mouse.”)
Average McCain voter: “I’m voting for McCain, but I swear it’s just about the issues. It’s not because Obama’s black. If Barack Obama were a little more moderate — hey, I’d vote for Colin Powell. But my convictions force me to vote for the candidate who just happens to be white. Say, do you know where I can get Patti LaBelle tickets?”
In addition to the social pressure to constantly prove you’re not a racist, apparently there is massive social pressure to prove you’re not a Republican. No one is lying about voting for McCain just to sound cool.
Reviewing the polls printed in The New York Times and The Washington Post in the last month of every presidential election since 1976, I found the polls were never wrong in a friendly way to Republicans. When the polls were wrong, which was often, they overestimated support for the Democrat, usually by about 6 to 10 points.
In 1976, Jimmy Carter narrowly beat Gerald Ford 50.1 percent to 48 percent. And yet, on Sept. 1, Carter led Ford by 15 points. Just weeks before the election, on Oct. 16, 1976, Carter led Ford in the Gallup Poll by 6 percentage points — down from his 33-point Gallup Poll lead in August.
Reading newspaper coverage of presidential elections in 1980 and 1984, I found myself paralyzed by the fear that Reagan was going to lose.
In 1980, Ronald Reagan beat Carter by nearly 10 points, 51 percent to 41 percent. In a Gallup Poll released days before the election on Oct. 27, it was Carter who led Reagan 45 percent to 42 percent.
In 1984, Reagan walloped Walter Mondale 58.8 percent to 40 percent, — the largest electoral landslide in U.S. history. But on Oct. 15, The New York Daily News published a poll showing Mondale with only a 4-point deficit to Reagan, 45 percent to 41 percent. A Harris Poll about the same time showed Reagan with only a 9-point lead. The Oct. 19 New York Times/CBS News Poll had Mr. Reagan ahead of Mondale by 13 points. All these polls underestimated Reagan’s actual margin of victory by 6 to 15 points.
In 1988, George H.W. Bush beat Michael Dukakis by a whopping 53.4 percent to 45.6 percent. A New York Times/CBS News Poll on Oct. 5 had Bush leading the Greek homunculus by a statistically insignificant 2 points — 45 percent to 43 percent. (For the kids out there: Before it became a clearinghouse for anti-Bush conspiracy theories, CBS News was considered a credible journalistic entity.)
A week later — or one tank ride later, depending on who’s telling the story — on Oct. 13, Bush was leading Dukakis in The New York Times Poll by a mere 5 points.
Admittedly, a 3- to 6-point error is not as crazily wrong as the 6- to 15-point error in 1984. But it’s striking that even small “margin of error” mistakes never seem to benefit Republicans.
In 1992, Bill Clinton beat the first President Bush 43 percent to 37.7 percent. (Ross Perot got 18.9 percent of Bush’s voters that year.) On Oct. 18, a Newsweek Poll had Clinton winning 46 percent to 31 percent, and a CBS News Poll showed Clinton winning 47 percent to 35 percent.
So in 1992, the polls had Clinton 12 to 15 points ahead, but he won by only 5.3 points.
In 1996, Bill Clinton beat Bob Dole 49 percent to 40 percent. And yet on Oct. 22, 1996, The New York Times/CBS News Poll showed Clinton leading by a massive 22 points, 55 percent to 33 percent.
In 2000, which I seem to recall as being fairly close, the October polls accurately described the election as a virtual tie, with either Bush or John Kerry 1 or 2 points ahead in various polls. But in one of the latest polls to give either candidate a clear advantage, The New York Times/CBS News Poll on Oct. 3, 2000, showed Gore winning by 45 percent to 39 percent.
In the last presidential election the polls were surprisingly accurate — not including the massively inaccurate Election Day exit poll. In the end, Bush beat John Kerry 50.7 percent to 48.3 percent in 2004. Most of the October polls showed the candidates in a dead-heat, with Bush 1 to 3 points ahead. So either pollsters got a whole lot better starting in 2004, or Democrats stole more votes in that election than we even realized.

In another astonishing exchange, Mr. McCain acted as though he was the truly aggrieved party, insisting that he had repudiated all of the attacks on Mr. Obama by surrogates and “some fringe people” at rallies. He didn’t mention that his running mate, Sarah Palin, is one of the loudest attackers, and he certainly didn’t repudiate her absurd, repeated charge that Mr. Obama has been “palling around with terrorists.”

I thought McCain had a great debate last night. I was offended listening to Hillary Clinton on CNN after the debate when she repeatedly referred to Obama as “President Obama”. I thought this was deliberate since she said it more than once. Also, soon after that interview, I saw her on Fox News and she did not make the mistake of saying “President Obama” and appropriately referred to the candidate as senator. I know the Democrats are winning, but it is quite offensive to declare a winner when I, a Republican, have not even cast my vote yet.

Are you aware that the report that came to that conclusion only used a select number of votes to determine how liberal or conservative a member of Congress is? To get an accurate outcome, you would have to review every vote. It’s just common sense.

So many people here talk about the experience factor with Sen. Obama. W was not only experienced, but he came from a politically experienced family (father=prez, brother=governor). How’s that working out for everybody? Sen. Obama has incorporated some of the same group of economic advisors used by President Clinton, the same president that took us from a budget deficit to a budget surplus. The same president that tremendously reduced the deficit. Sen. Obama has actually expanded on what President Clinton did on taxes. Clinton had a middle class ceiling of $100,000. Sen. Obama has it at $250,000. But I digress…All of this is inconsequential. Neither candidate can really know what they are going to do until they get in office and see the extent of the mess left by the great “W”. But I like my chances a little better with Obama.

Mr. McCarthy, I imagine that you would not put anybody on that list.
Santorum holds STRONG neoconservative stances in regard to foreign policy, which has further alienated many conservatives of a more traditional nature. He is particularly known for his stances on the U.S. invasion of Iraq, Social Security, intelligent design, homosexuality, and the Terri Schiavo case.
But that is not why he is on the list. Just read about him and you’ll see why he is.
But you, sir, easily hold the infamous record for having to be told the same thing time and time and time again.
I have personally reported to you on more than one occasion, much less countless other times for others here, that I will under no circumstances vote for Senator Obama.

Moron Jim said: John McCain, speaking to Joe, a plumber who had questioned Barack Obama’s tax proposals, explained to Joe the differences in his tax and health care proposals and Obama’s. “I want to tell you,” McCain said to Joe, “I’ll keep your taxes low…I will not stand for tax increases.”
This just proves how stupid and far out-of-touch McCain is with reality. The fact is there is nothing to cut from the budget and the government is spending trillions on both Bush’s reckless and unnecessary Iraq war and failed economic policy. So McCain will either continue to borrow money from others increasing the deficit and the debt or print more money causing the value of the dollar to fall. The falling dollar was the primary driver behind the record oil prices which resulted in huge jump in inflation. McCain will just be more of the same old failed Bush policies. McCain may not raise your taxes, but his policies will certainly lower your standard of living. They say insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome. Voting for McCain (or any Rethuglicon) would just be insantiy.
What is the real driver behind the anti-Obamainsanity crowd? Pure and simple racism. They don’t want to turn their White, Anglo, Christian country over to someone who isn’t white, isn’t Anglo, and isn’t Christian. That’s why they keep pushing this specious link with Ayers (a “terrorist”) and that he’s a closet Muslim (because he attended an international school). It makes their racism appear justified. To paraphase McCain said, you can put lipstick on a racist, it’s still a racist.
When you vote Rethuglicon, you vote against your own best interests. And John McCain’s stupidity on taxes is living proof.

From TIME’s Amy Sullivan:
In politics it is generally not considered a good sign when voters are laughing at you, not with you. And by the end of the third and last presidential debate, the undecided voters who had gathered in Denver for Democratic pollster Stan Greenberg’s focus group were “audibly snickering” at John McCain’s grimaces, eye-bulging, and repeated references to “Joe the Plumber.”
The group of 50 uncommitted voters should have at least been receptive to McCain—Republicans and Independents outnumbered Democrats in the group by almost 4 to 1, and they started the evening with much warmer responses to McCain than to his Democratic opponent, Barack Obama. But by the time it was all over, so few of them had declared their support for McCain that there weren’t enough for Greenberg to separate them into a post-debate focus group. Meanwhile, the Obama supporters had to assemble in two different rooms to keep their discussion groups manageable.

Why are we STILL talking about things that have no benefit to the American people’s problems?? If MCcain wants to keep cutting taxes, how does he expect to pay for his war(s), let alone bring the economy of this country out of its present doldrums? Mcain/Palin keeps talking about things that won’t help the “AVERAGE AMERICAN.” I don’t know why we have to be Democrats or Republicans in these times, especially!! Why not just be “AMERICANS” and see where that takes us. Division has done nothing to help this country!! God help us if cooler heads don’t prevail and I mean real soon!! In my opinion if you want to be president of these United States, you should act like it! Stop acting like a spoiled child when things don’t go your way, all of the time. Things change, get over it!! MCain is still thinking he is a “HERO.” My hero’s never made it home alive from Vietnam, and to my knowledge, not one of their family members keep telling people how much of a HERO they were!! MCcain is living in the past still!! Life moves on! Move on MCcain!!

Obama swept the debates and deserves to win.
At the beginning of this cycle, I said w screwed up so bad, that it is likely the first AA or woman can be President.
This was before the economic crisis with a taxpayer cost of over 2 trillion and w’s socialism for the rich.
Enough of government for the rich with no accountability. Once again, we must elect the dems to clean up a bush mess and govern for the rest of America.

why don’t republicans support our troops and our military? you know, a standing army is a form of socialism, and since you think socialism is so horrible, how can you say you support the troops. and remember, if you hate socialism, don’t drink any of that clean water running from your tap, don’t flush your waste down the toilet, don’t call the police, don’t call the fire dept. and definitely don’t send your kid to a public school, all socialism. yes folks, the new york fire dept. that it is so cool to be seen supporting is a socialist organization. and just what is so wrong with helping americans? what is so wrong with every american having healthcare? a stronger ans healthier america could defend against it’s enemies more easily.

For God sakes, you Obama supporters would trample the American Flag yourselves if it mean’t electing Obama.
What a shame…. Americans are supposed to be better than this no matter who you vote for.

“Gator Joe”, good suspicion sir. Both sides of the Globalist Elite’s controlled coin (DNC & GOP) use such subterfuge quite frequently. However, no doubt “Bacrock Obuma” has strong Marxist leanings (on the surface), whereas below lies his Globalist core.
As for “Juan McAmnasty”, he’s a Neocon/RINO at best at a total Globalist puppet at worst. He’ll no doubt continue (fellow phoney “conservative”) “Jorge Boosh’s” massive spending & taxpayer (fiat) dollars being squandered. Bottom line, neither on of these pawns will truly abide by or support or Constitution, & thus neither have any business as our President!

Jim:
What I saw last night was a McCain responding to the people who wanted to see him fight for them. My gawd, the man has fought for them, suffered for them, risked his life for them.
There’s no doubt in my mind, that behind-the-scenes in Washington, McCain does fight for the average American through his battles against government waste.
Fighting in the public arena is something he’s not comfortable with. Unfortunately he’s been left with no alternative. With the left-leaning media covering for OBlahMa at every turn, whether it be his radical associations or his misleading rhetoric, McCain was forced to step outside his principles of integrity.
I wish McCain had elaborated on OBlahMa’s abortion stance. Last night when confronted with his vote against the “Born Alive Infant Protection Act” he said:
“With respect to partial-birth abortion, I am completely supportive of a ban on late-term abortions, partial-birth or otherwise, as long as there’s an exception for the mother’s health and life, and this (bill) did not contain that exception,” Obama said.
OBlahMa has promised that within his first year as president, he will sign the “Freedom of Choice Act.”
Nowhere within the FOCA is there a clear definition of what constitutes a risk to the “health” of the mother. So let’s examine the possibiities, shall we?
Mom’s it’s unhealthy for my hormones to be this out of whack. I’m crying a lot in my ninth month.
Mom’s it’s unhealthy if the expense of this baby hinders my shoe fetish.
Mom’s it’s unhealthy to be obese six months out of nine.
Mom’s it’s unhealthy for me to go through delivery alone. The father just bailed at the last minute.
Mom’s it’s unhealthy to have swollen feet.
Mom’s it’s unhealthy to have dry skin and blemishes.
Mom’s it’s unhealthy that my boobs are swollen and tender.
Just as in OBlahMa’s support for comprehensive sex education in kindergarten, the bill is left wide open for interpretation.
OBlahMa doesn’t stand on principles. He has none. He stands radically to the left of Middle America…..he just doesn’t want us to know it.
A hidden and hollow heart best describes the democrats’ candidate.

Heehee… this has been funny to watch, as I hoped.
Wooten’s desperate pretense that McCain is viable after last night’s stumbling performance…
The fact that his “greatest line” was DISTANCING himself from the failed and disgraced Bush…
The tone of terror that the hysterical right-winig has adopted in their tired old lies about “socialism” and “baby killers” (Jeez, guys, get a new script sometime)…
And best of all, a TOTAL inability to point to ANY reason to vote for their own candidate! No, not “against Obama;” FOR McCain! Got anything to offer—anything at all? Of course not.
McCain’s campaign (if you can still call it that) consists entirely of attacking Obama and hoping to win by default. This strategy is failing over and over, all across the country. But they can’t come up with anything better!

polls, perceptions, and even votes are mutually influential, both rising and falling.
frequently, they can be influenced or seeded by some other conditions or events — seemingly big or small.
acorn played a part in this, and might be the component responsible for whatever edge obama seems to have retained.
an extreme number of fraudulent voter registrations by democACORNrats is a two edged sword that cuts in only one direction. they will produce fraudulent votes for obama. and, they already contribute to a perception of popular support that is not really there. sheep will follow an apparent (tho fraudulent) leader/winner, which will produce some real additional votes.
eight years of bush is a big one. but, mccain is not bush, and he certainly overcame that to have garnered the support he has.
mccain/palin were certainly helped by the disgracefulness of the dnc and disgusting history of obummer (while else the sealed records, transcripts, etc.) — in spite of the obscene amount of money democRATS have dumped into this campaign.
i voted for mccain/palin for their positive attributes, and equally for the many negative ones of obama/biden.

We don’t need Cotton Hill as President! There was a moment in the debate (during the split screen)that John McCain materialized (in my eyes) into the ranting and raving Cotton Hill of King of the Hill. For those of you who don’t know who that is there is a animation show on FOX called King of the Hill. The main character is a sympathetic simple man named Hank Hill. To cut to the chase one of the many character’s of the show is the father of Hank Hill and his name is Cotton Hill. He is a slightly deranged World War 2 war veteran who had His shins blown off in WWII and his feet were reattached to his knees, resulting in a short height and stilted gait. Despite his disability, he eventually reached the rank of Colonel in the State Militia, and is addressed as such by his friends. After divorcing Hank’s mother, he marries a much younger, dimwitted blonde.Cotton also demonstrated a rough, demanding and often abusive but at times inspirational leadership. He admits to Hank that he always wanted to win in battle but accepted defeat when his men did their best. I bet When they created this character they had no idea or thoughts of John McCain but Cotton’s mannerism’s and McCain’s are unmistakable. I’m calling him Cotton Hill from now on.

just think how mad republicans would be if this financial meltdown happened during a democratic administration, but no, one of their own did it so it’s ok and they get a pass. just like when reagan and ollie north sold guns to our enemies the iranians, another pass. god is great, but i don’t want a religious government. in a religious government there is no freedom. a religious government in america would be totally un-american. if your are a true patriot, you will always put america first before any political party and that is not happening from the republicans. when someone hurts america and they are a republican they get a pass, not patriotic! and for all the people that want to create boogeymen to use as scapegoats, just how many liberals and democrats were there among the executives of these wall street firms? and why is it that the people that preach united we stand are always spending so much time dividing this country? why is it that the people who call themselves great americans always spend so much time blaming things on ordinary americans, you know the ones, joe six pack, hockey moms and joe the plumber? why not blame the people that are causing the problems? like the religious fanactics, oil companies and corporate ceo’s. why is it that every person that lost their house is a lazy slacker that deserved what they got? why aren’t the people at the top that caused this mess be blamed? why is it that the same people that say playing the blame game is bad aare the ones that blame others the most? america is sinking and we don’t stop polarizing ourselves and start working together it’s gonna go under. and for people that say they care so much about children and our children’s children they sure aren’t showing it! no spaces, no capitals in my writing, you don’t like it, lump it!

I contend that the GOP, more than the Democrats this election, are voting for the lesser of two evils, or as Ralph Nader calls them the “evil of the two lessers”!
Your average neo-conical caveman, well represented here, could give a hoot about John McCain.
Nor his valorous military service and sacrifice.
They loathe him because Karl Rove, Rush Limbaugh and Mann Coulter do.
They loathe him because of “Comprehensive Immigration Reform”.
They loathe him because of “Campaign Finance Reform”.
They loathe him because they think he is an anti-2nd amendment gun grabber.
They loathe him because in 2000 he called the repugnant Falwell and Robertson “agents of intolerance” and “unAmerican”.
They loathe him because he mentions Kennedy and other Democrats as people he has worked with.
They loathe him because they don’t trust him - as in 1999 when he said, “I’d love to see a point where Roe v. Wade is irrelevant, and could be repealed because abortion is no longer necessary. But certainly in the short term, or even the long term, I would not support repeal of Roe v. Wade, which would then force women in America to [undergo] illegal and dangerous operations.”
They loathe him because in 2000, he won the endorsement of the Log Cabin Republicans. (The Advocate called him “notoriously pro-gay.” And In 2004, McCain was one of only six Republican senators to vote against the Federal Marriage Amendment.)
They loathe him because he is too much of a Teddy Roosevelt pro-conservation and good steward Republican.
But they will swallow their festering tongues and vote for the loathed RINO because they absolutely HATE the mulatto.
And exceptionally few Americans are going to pity them when their nightmare scenario unfolds soon…

Sen. Saxby Chambliss called into the local Republican talk show this morning to join in the bashing of Jim Martin.
Chambliss said the attack on the FairTax was to be expected because it’s all they have. He called Obama a socialist, something I don’t disagree with. Boortz interjected that Republicans have done a lot to grow the government, including the nationalization of financial institutions. Chambliss responded that the spending has been defense related to prevent future terrorist attack.
Wrong, Sen. Chambliss.
Non-defense discretionary spending skyrocketed under the Bush Administration and a Republican-controlled Congress. You can cut taxes all you want, but it doesn’t mean much if you aren’t balancing it with spending cuts. That’s the reason we are running $450 billion deficits and why the dollar has gone to hell. I want the tax cuts, but I want spending cuts too. You failed that test, Sen. Chambliss.
Sen. Chambliss has crowned himself as a small government conservative. That is absurd. Chambliss has never gone against the Bush Administration on spending. He voted to add another entitlement to Medicare, which was already a ticking economic time bomb because of massive unfunded liabilities, with the prescription drug benefit. Chambliss voted to add another $9 trillion in unfunded liabilities to it. That burden will ultimately come down on taxpayers. This entitlement was referred to as “the most fiscally irresponsible piece of legislation since the 1960s,” by former Comptroller General David Walker.
He voted for and supported the veto override of the pork-laden farm bill. This bill hurts Americans by jacking up prices at the grocery store. He supported the Gang of 10 plan to increase taxes by $30 billion on oil companies.
If Saxby Chambliss is the model of a small government conservative, then Barack Obama is a moderate. Really, Democrats should love Saxby Chambliss. He has helped bring the big government that Clinton and Cleland promised but never delivered.

WASHINGTON (AP) - The FBI is investigating whether the community activist group ACORN helped foster voter registration fraud around the nation before the presidential election.
A senior law enforcement official confirmed the investigation to The Associated Press on Thursday. A second senior law enforcement official says the FBI was looking at results of recent raids on ACORN offices in several states for any evidence of a coordinated national scam.
Go ahead Obamanites. Say it all together now since the FBI is going after ACORN for fraud: RACISTS!!!!!

Last year Biden made $319,853 and gave $995 to charity. Over the past decade he has given a total of $3,690 to charity, a time when he never made less than $210,000. Why do stingy, Joe?
Obama gave $240,000 of his $4.2 million income and McCain gave $105,000 of his $405,000 income to charity. These are more patriotic sums. Again, why so stingy, Joe?

Fo after the frauds. Let’s do what the pathetic left did in 2000. Except this time, the proof is all over the place. Stick it to the pathetic frauds.
COLUMBUS: Ohio’s top elections chief has asked the U.S. Supreme Court to intervene in a dispute over whether the state is required to do more to help counties verify voter eligibility, a spokesman for her office said Thursday. Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner, a Democrat, filed an appeal the high court late Wednesday, said spokesman Jeff Ortega.

Obama and Biden are just two politician’s/lawyers, that is the absolute bottom of the totem-pole. You would certainly expect them to win debates, heck they are trained to win court cases by sounding good and never telling the truth. McCain is definitely a poor debater. Mitt Romney would have destroyed Obama in the debates. Alas, the better candidates rarely make it to or through the primaries. Mr. Teflon Man has learned well at the pulpit of Slick Willy. If Joe the plumber is really interested in being an entrepreneur then I don’t think he’s going to make it if he is concerned more about paying 3% more in income tax on income over $250K than in being in business for himself. the fair tax is an entitlement program for the rich. each month I spend all my money to survive. I would get tax on almost all of my income. but a rich person doesn’t have to spend but a small portion of their money to get by each month. why should a rich person get taxed 5% and me and ordinary Joe six-pack be taxed on 95% of my income? a big black market will arise and governments will have trouble getting revenue. then we will see a big increase in roadblocks, DUI’s, speeding tickets and we’ll even get toll roads. and while we’re on the subject of entitlement programs. name one entitlement program the Republicans have eleiminated. that’s one of their biggest platforms. they’ve had Republican Presidents and controlled Congress at more than one time during those years. why haven’t the Republicans eliminated any entitlement programs when they had the opportunity?

Wooten .. Get over Joe the Plumber nonsense…Here is who Joe is actually.
It’s no wonder John McCain was so happy to use “Joe the Plumber” as a debate prop last night — he’s a partisan Republican who also happens to be a member of McCain’s old friends, the Keating family.
Turns out that Joe Wurzelbacher from the Toledo event is a close relative of Robert Wurzelbacher of Milford, Ohio. Who’s Robert Wurzelbacher? Only Charles Keating’s son-in-law and the former senior vice president of American Continental, the parent company of the infamous Lincoln Savings and Loan. The now retired elder Wurzelbacher is also a major contributor to Republican causes giving well over $10,000 in the last few years.

According to ABC News, it was recently revealed that Joe the Plumber would actually get a tax cut on Obama’s plan. See, he doesn’t make $250k a year. He is trying to buy a plumbing company for $280K. Joe mistakenly thought that if he bought a business for over $250k, he would be taxed.
Also, the plumbing company isn’t a sole proprietorship. So even if the plumbing company made over $250k in revenues, he would still have no tax increase.
And the proof is this: Did you look at his house? If he made $250k a year, do you think he would live like that?

For God sakes, you Obama supporters would trample the American Flag yourselves if it mean’t electing Obama.
What a shame…. Americans are supposed to be better than this no matter who you vote for.

Gee Jim….McCain is Soooooooooooooo OLD…..who wouldn’t wonder if Sarah Palin is qualified to run the country…….?????
For one thing Jim………You have never said Sarah IS qualified…….I guess you never said it, because she isn’t !

I came across some Republican logic while rereading some Beckett today. It read…and having heard …that when a man in a forest thinks he is going in a straight line, in reality he is going in a circle, I did my best to go in a circle, hoping to go in a straight line, for I stopped being half witted and became sly, whenever I took to trouble. And my head was a storehouse of knowledge. And if I did not go in a rigorously straight line, with my system of going in a circle, at least I did not go in a crcle, and that was something.

I’m John McCain and I approve the repression of women under every circumstance possible.”
Well McSogynist! Where’s your reason? This is actually what McCain said:
Asked if he wants the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling to be overturned, McCain said he thought it was a “bad decision.”
“I think that decisions should rest in the hands of the states. I’m a federalist. And I believe strongly that we should have nominees to the United States Supreme Court based on their qualifications rather than any litmus test,” he said.
McCain said it’s important to “change the culture of America.”
“Those of us who are proudly pro-life understand that. And it’s got to be courage and compassion that we show to a young woman who’s facing this terribly difficult decision.”
One of the laws that the FOCA would invalidate is the laws requiring parental notification or consent, or judicial authorization, before an abortion can be performed on a minor daughter.
Now can you elaborate (in that special way you have) on ^^^ that one as well as the black on black racism? The insecure man with two earrings?

He will redistribute the money…whose money?…our money!…and share it, appropriately, with the scum who sit on their ases and draw checks from the government. Hell, maybe it is time I became one of those.
Now you may not be familiar with Clayton County, but we just defeated our sitting Sheriff, a little black fella, who’s been nothing but trouble for us over the last four years. He was and is an idiot — not because he’s black, but because he suffered from “little man” syndrome. Anyhoo, in the general we have the choice between a qualified black candidate and an unqualified white candidate.
So, I’m on my way to vote and I’m saying to myself “I’m gonna vote for the white guy just to see what it’s like to vote on race alone.” Couldn’t bring myself to do it. Voted for the black candidate. Now, to the point of why Mid-South’s post made me chuckle and reflect.
We here in Clayton County haven’t seen our little black sheriff since he was defeated in the primary. I wonder if he’s collecting his salary? His term isn’t up until January. I’ve no doubt that a “bigger man” than our Victor has assumed his responsibilities.

Peter- Let me define who needs a “license” in the case of Joe the Plumber………..
Do you understand what it costs to become a “certified plumber” or a “Master Plumber”?? Alot of money my friend, and most who have attained these certifications do it at their own expense. Most don’t have a large company that they work for that can afford to foot that bill for every employee.
This is why the business owner carries the license (or in some state they have to have a ratio of Master to certified, and certified to Journeymen Plumbers + apprentices employed to maintain their license).
Again, The business needs the license, not the employee working for the business
If Joe buys the business at some point then he would be required to hold the license you are so misinformed about
* Can a Plumber have his own license and be employed by a pumbing company that has their own license???* YES
Is it necessary or required?? **NO
Clear enough for you??? Good. Next point…….
Joe the Plumber has an interest in using the money he has earned, and maybe (or maybe not) some loans of some kind, to one day by the business he works for…. Maybe the present owner is looking to retire, or wants to pursue another endevor, whatever…. Not the issue.
What is at issue: is, Joe the Plumber is a real person (and an example of others accross the country) regardless of his/her profession and how much he makes, is trying to plan his future……
He wants to know the impact of a post Jan. 2009 Govt. if Obama is elected.
Why are you and others trashing/slandering a guy for taking some individual intiative??? Are you jealous that he is contemplating such a move?
The guy has worked his butt off to have an opportunity to possibly buy a small business. He may want to grow it/employ more people and use it to ensure finacial security for his family. He wants to know what the future is going to cost to do this. That is the American dream where most who are not looking for handouts come from.
Maybe one day you two will have the opportunity to contemplate such a move. If you do, I am sure you will not want governemnt dipping its hand in your business & pockets to take money you have earned and redistribute it to people they think are more deserving of your sweat equity.
If you disagree why don’t you go donate the amount of those taxes now……. Go get a head start being charitable…Or is it that the rules should not apply to you……
All Joe wanted to know was “How Obama’s tax plan was going to impact the business he was considering purchasing

Corporations collect taxes. On that we can agree.
Yes, Obama is an unknown quantity. But I’ll take my chances with him rather than someone that doesn’t have the demeanor to be president, and doesn’t have a clue about the economy, health care and even national defense. You need great communication skills to be a great leader. I’m very impressed by the advisors he has assembled. We know he can talk, let’s hope he can listen as well.

it is funny listening to all this talk about government “redistribution of wealth” when the reality is that the government is borrowing the money in the first place - mostly from overseas. what is even more funny is that the US is borrowing money from other countries only to turn around and give that money to some other country.

Here is what I don’t get.
America is so deeply divided we can’t get our heads wrapped that if we do not come together the country and our form of government will not last.
It is no longer about Obama and McCain. No matter who is elected the power in this country lies in the House and Senate. They have worked hard to make it that way. If all of you remember it was Roosevelt’s fourth election as President that got Congress to pass a Consititutional Amendment to limit the President to two terms. Yet, there has never been legislation even proposed to limit their service…why? POWER. Now, we have Kennedy, Byrd, Lott and all these “representatives” that have made being a professional politician their careers. Doesn’t anyone believe that a changing of the guard is in our best interest? I do. I see the corruption that led to one man making over $90 million as the head of Freddie Mac in just 6 years and we are hearing he cooked the books to make his bonuses. I don’t care if he is green with purple polka dots this man should be tried for embezszlement of federal funds. Not today because he is an advisor to one of our candidates. Corruption being rewarded has got to go…as do these lifers that sit on the public dole under the guise of public service. Let’s truly reform government. Pass term limits and the fair tax. Let’s stop these folks from beginning to campaign for re-election right after getting elected. This would force them to work for the interest of the country and not their pocket books. Let them see how we live and live like we live having to hold down a job. I think you would see reform very quickly.

Also, spreading the wealth is taking $$ out of my hard working pocket and sharing it with the lazies of the world who are allergic to work. No thanks pal.
If Obama gets elected, just wait and see how much worse it will get. The man is not qualified to run the greatest country in the world. Hey bphilb — great points. Having just been sacked by the Alternative Minimum Tax I am 100% for a Fair Tax.
On that note has anyone seen the ads showing that certain Republicans wanted to raise sales taxes to 23%? For those who are shocked by a 23% sales tax, please note, this would be in lieu of the other taxes you pay, not in addition to them. For me and mine that would be a 23% reduction in taxes. For 40% it would be a 23% increase.
We really do need a place to go and find the facts, not facts skewed in partisan ways…on both sides.

The repeat hitting the button because this blog unlike most on the web takes several minutes to post ( a little like the McCain lethargy and senility in general) was confined to the first couple messages.
Glad to see though, that like the voting challenges that waited until the last minute after years to make them, you are reacting in characteristic McCain fashion. It’s over and the mute button will be there for a reason when the whining starts from the out of a job McCain surrogates come Nov. 5.

As of this morning Palin continues to be a heavy drag on the McPalin ticket. Back in the day when kids used to be assigned to read Classics (none of them do anymore—they just waiste time on My Space and texting illiterate trash) there was a term English teachers explained called “comeuppance” which evolved into a term called “payback” in the ‘80’s.
The irresponsible and dangerous stupidity of McCain putting the mush brain wingnut darling Sarah (I’m an idiot without a script from Rick Davis to deliver) Palin on the ticket so she could deliver a Georgette Wallace racial hatred meme.
As of today, Palin’s favorability rating has dropped 9 to 30% and her unfavorables have gone to 43% a gain of 11.
She has been denounced clearly by Conservative stallwart columnists who have an infinitely wider circulation than Wooten as well as major Bush campaign strategists.
Mathew Dowd, David Brooks, George Will, Christopher Hitchens (a staunch supporter of the three trillion dollar fiasco that keeps the unphotographed out of sight out of mind Dover coffins in business), Christopher Buckley (booted from the magazine his dad founded in times laced with more comity), and Kathleen Parker have given voice to what a moron Palin is.
Putting Palin on a national stage is like putting a high school sophomore who is a quarterback from a small Georgia town in a starting position in the NFL.
Appropriately it’s helped McCain lose, and is also a drag on the ticket for the following embattled Bush Senate ditto heads:
McConnell, Chambliss, Dole, Coleman, Stevens, Smith, Sinunu, Schaffer. In the 14 other races the Dems are 100% safe.

Reaper here’s a newsflash. I understand you want to shun anyone who has paid a price and done time as is the US custom—from jobs, housing, educatonal opportunities, and their right to vote.
The vast majority of prisoners get out of prisons or jails whether they were rightfully or wrongly convicted. They live in the same world you do, and they pay taxes and work. Voter eligibility is decided to a large degree on a state by state basis, although there is some impact from federal appellate opinions and federal law.
In the coming elections in November, 5.3 million convicted felons will not be able to vote—but millions who have complete their sentence will be able to vote.
Georgia, characteristically legislatively stupid in many instances, has a Constitution (Article II) that says people are prevented from voting if they’ve been convicted of a felony involving moral turpitude.
That’s an interesting phrase. Although he wasn’t convicted of a felony, was AG Mike Bowers practicing moral turpitude when he conducted an affair with his secretary, Anne Davis, former playboy club waitress or was he just extending and spreading his family values to his secretary? The story was first broken in George Magazine.
The state appellate court in California has just restored the voting rights of 100,000 inmates—and I hope that causes you to open your favorite cognac and toss back a couple for me. The California AG has declined to appeal the opinion.
In Ohio, state officials are alerting the inmates of their legal voting rights.
In many states, people incarcerated in the federal or state system (it’s up to about 1/100 in the US—who are way in the lead in prison population and oil consumption) and soon we can probably incarcerate every man, woman, and child.
In Georgia, individuals are eligible to vote after completing their sentences, and from what I’ve seen here, many of them are far better informed as to politics, domestic and foreign policy, and US history than many affluent North Side Atlantans. Income sure as hell is no index into political insight. There also is the element that many who sit in prison are “caught” and some wrongly convicted, while many who don’t haven’t been caught or wrongly convicted.
Is Ted Stevens a prisoner? Not yet but he may be soon. How about Tom Delay whose case is stalled in the Third Circuit state court in Texas. There are two potential prisoners who are poorly informed as voters.
And a shout out to the elderly ladies (Wooten chickies) who lol are attacking twenty something’s chanting “Obama” who team up 15 at a time to inflct black eyes. That’s the ticket—those black eyes are going to get Sarah mushbrain real close to the White house. The only White House for Moroncuda is going to be an igloo in 18 more days.

It is intriguing that McPalin called Ayres a “washed up old terrorist” last night, yet he wasted millions of dollars this morning in targeted phone calls and the total subject of the phone calls was Bill Ayres. Every single metion of Ayres or Wright by McPalin costs McCain votes and boosts Obama’s more than 100 electoral vote lead with 19 days to go.
“Joe the Plumber” aka Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher of Holland, Ohio is not licesnsed and he’s not a plumber. But that didn’t stop McPalin. Maybe he can unclog your john. He makes 40 grand a year. His boss makes 100 grand a year. Both stand to gainfrom Obama’s tax cuts. He is the proud owner of 15 minutes of fame, and 15 satellite trucks outside his house. Before the “debate” finished there were 3 satellite trucks outside his home. Maybe he can deploy them to unclog your drain.
And when “Joe” questioned Obama on his street on Sunday, he lied and inflated his 40 grand income to 260 grand. But lying is a fine Republican virtue isn’t it?
“Joe” is eligible for Obama’s tax cut, and if he did make the money he lied to Obama and said he made, he’d qualify for a 50% tax credit to pay for his employees’ health care and have a zero per cent capital gains rate.
But those details confuse a lot of Republican shills.

“Maybe one day you too will have the opportunity to contemplate such a move. If you do, I am sure you will not want governemnt dipping its hand in your business & pockets to take money you have earned and redistribute it to people they think are more deserving of your sweat equity.”
Joe was told point blank on the street what he purported to want to know by Obama himself the other day. That’s where “Joe” came from as I’ve explained. He was told what would happen to an employee who was actually Joe, and what would happen to the employer he pretended to be. Fantasy seems to be an integral part of the Republican psyche alternated with a rich cascade of pure lies.
Here’s a cold shower. This Republican White House has socialized banks, and is pouring billions of money into banks and AIG an insurance company who continues to stage luxury junkets and luxury hunting trips costing hundreds of thousands of dollars with the poor schnook on main street’s hard earned money. And the moroncuda has as much grasp of it all and would be as prepared to navigate through it all as she would be to stand in an ER and treat all comers. But your candidate wanted to thrust her into a hypothetical direct line to take it over if something happened to him. He has refused any full disclosure of his medical status just as he has refused full disclosure of Sugar Mama’s taxes (one the American people are fully entitled to have).
That soon is not going to matter because as I keep reminding you in 19 days, McCain will be off the national stage, and Sugar Mommy will be back to her half million charge cards presiding over her 200 million dollar inherentance. She has frantically been calling her investment advisors trying to figure out how to protect the millions her husband’s party has now position her to lose.
All gibberish and tangential to the point. I really don’t care if “Joe the Plumber” is licensed or not. I was establishing who he really is. He actually talked to Obama not McCain because McCain has been safely trying to rile up the rabid clueless base at rallys where people are carefully screened unlike Obama’s and where the candidates take no questions.
None of you want to talk about how stupid and unqualified Palin is to be President or VP, or how they are shielding the moron from taking spontaneous questions from either reporters or voters. No one qualifies Hannity and Van Sustrin @ Fox as legitimate reporters.
The point is that “Joe” lied to Obama posing as the owner of a $250,000 business that Obama would tax. He actually makes $40 grand. He would beneift from Obama’s tax scheme (that all of you forget would still have to be approved by a closely divided congress as would the actual owner of his business.
This particular Joe has little mathematical prospect of buying the business which has little mathematical prospect of grossing $250 grand in both Joe and the owner’s lifetime—particularly now after Greenspan, and Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee for 12 years Phil Graham ran the economy into the ground with a cast of thousand supporting actors. And the next shoe to fall is going to be salaries. They are going to be low and frozen low. In case you haven’t realized it, President Obama is going to inherit a depression made by Republicans.
The other issue the Rethugs pretend doesn’t exist that has both domestic and foreign implications is the 3 trillion in the toilet fiasco in Iraq. It’s going to be stopped by Obama, although not soon enough. Obama and the probable 60 Senate majority that Wooten and the Rethugs pretend isn’t coming in about two weeks, will not be bound by any unilateral and stupid agreement the Bush administration is trying to wedge in during the last 3 months of this administration.
Greenspan, the 3 treasury secretaries during the Bush adminsitration (one of whom wrote about his experience honestly after leaving in Susskind’s book), and Phil Graham took a parmenant whizz on that long ago. I don’t hear McPalin invoking his puppeteer Phil Graham in pubic much these days, but he remains the goofball behind the inconsisent McPalin economic policies.
I’ve been donating many thousands of edollars of my services for every year of my adult life not to mention countless hours a week answering questions for free oon the phone for years and I’ve been reimbursed for none of it as have many of my collegues.
You’re forcing me to repeat myself. Joe was told straight up by Obama. If he made 40 grand a year as he actually does he saves at least $500. If he actually owned the business which is what he lied to Obama and said, and the business did make 250 plus grand a year (it actually makes 100 grand and Joe does not own it in realit) than there would be considerable capital gains tax saving as I’ve said now twice. That’s what Obama who was actually the one on the street in Ohio with “Joe” the plumber told him to his face.
I profiled the real person including his name, the lies he told Obama, and the savings he would get in his present real status, and the status that he lied to Obama about pretending to be an owner of a fictional 250 grand business. It’s strange that you’re trying to inform me that Joe is a real person when I profiled him with his real name.
**“Joe the Plumber” aka Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher of Holland, Ohio is not licesnsed and he’s not a plumber. But that didn’t stop McPalin. Maybe he can unclog your john. He makes 40 grand a year. And when “Joe” questioned Obama on his street on Sunday, he lied and inflated his 40 grand income to 260 grand. But lying is a fine Republican virtue isn’t it?**
8 more years of someone who voted with Bush a collective 95% of the time and actually almost never “took on” the administration is being rejected out of hand by the voters. We aren’t having it. It would decimate any American dream you invoke.
Government dipped its hand in my main business long ago and has made a mess of it. That’s because since Raegan, the Rethugs were owned by lobbyists for the major components of that business as well as some Dems who left the Senate to become multimillionaires lobbying for Big Pharma and others. Can ya spell John Breaux and Bill Frist, M.D.?
The government continues to stupidly put its hands in my pocket.

Fannie made billions while Raines was CEO, even after the earnings were restated.
There’s only one thing wrong with the Fair Tax, it’s unfair. Especially to retirees that have scrimped and saved for 40 or 50 years and have already paid taxes on those savings. Our income tax liabilty would go from $2, to about $5,000. And the tax on our health insurance alone would be about $2k, not to mention car, home owners and life insuance. Chad What the business is today, and what he wants to grow it too if he buys it, are 2 different things…..
Please do not get that twisted, and then insert all these other “diverionary topics”. Stay on point.
Buying interests in banks is somewhat connected, but at the other end, and Gov. Palin/Sen. Biden have no place here in this discussion.
Joe has said in follow up interviews he would ask the same questions of any candidate he came accross. he just so happened to be in proximity to Barrack Obama.
So he asked…..
Americans looking for real answers to these and other questions, are coming to realize that liberals, scared of a truthful, understandable answers to issues Joe raised, are trying to paint Joe as some kind of a “GOP plant”.
Who is doing the fear mongering now.
If he buys the business, don’t you think he is doing it with the intention of making as much money as possible? Who among us would buy a business to set a “ceiling” on what the business (and just to clarify the word business is meaning the busines itself and its owner(s))earns.
The goal of most businesses is to earn as much as the free markets, quality of work, and reputation will allow.
In other words if Joe buys that business and gains an excellent reputation for what his business provides, hires more people with appropriate skills and initiative to keep the trend moving in that direction, he could very well make more than $250k.
Should he or anyone else be penalized (ie; excessively taxed so that the money can be redistributed to people who leach off the hard work and initiative of people like Joe) for running a business that serves its community in this manner? NO.
Should government develop incentives to encourage businesses to run in this manner? YES.
Do not forget the economic cycle…. Busines pay taxes on income, and they pay them when they buy supplies/inventory. They pay salaries, and their employees are taxed accordingly. Less people employed means less income tax, and less of the population spending a paycheck.
Also…..Alot business and employees make charitable contributions in their communities and to causes they believe in.
Its not just the George Soros’s of the world that enable charities to do the work they do…….. The majority of giving though it does not get the headlines of a Soros philanthropic endevor is hard working regular American familes. If you contribute to a charity, go look at where the bulk of the donations come from……..
What do you think will happen to charitable contributions if a higher tax burden on the people/small businesses that employ people across this country?
Say what you want about the term “trickle down” but the effect will be less charitable giving by the segement that is most important to charities for survival.
The same thing happens when you apply that example to the economy and anyone with any successful business experience knows it.
Neither candidate is perfect Chad, but on taxes John McCain has the vision and plan that is required at this time and for the forseeable future.
If you have ambitions about making real money and not just an hourly wage, you should appreciate this.

If you analyze the current tax structure under the Bush administration, what has resulted is that large companies pay no tax, or proportionally negligible taxes in many cases, and abundant tax shelters, some legal and some illegal for the very rich have been allowed to flourish.
And although they are reached for like air you breath, the terms liberal and conservative have become fairly meaningless in these discussions. Conservative government in the US is now very much a socialist government. Your friend Hank Paulson now is buying banks on behalf of the US government.
There is not one dim prospect that the people who are being forced to pay for these bailous, and they now total near 2 trillion dollars with a 3 trillion dollar fiasco continuing to drain the economy in Iraq with Iraq refusing to use their oil revenues ($79 billion in a NY bank recently) to pay for the hemorrhaging debt in Iraq.
And besides the stupid slogan “we are going to stay there until we win” Right Wingnutws cannot define winning and on the key issues the Iraqi government has still not come to major decisions, and won’t until years after we get the hell out of there.
I don’t object to people working hard and investing in a business. But the tax structure has never been equitable for the little guy, including small business owners.
It will be considerably more equitable under Obama despite your efforts and Rethug efforts to conflate it. The affluent don’t want to pay their share of taxes.

How can a plumber and an lady who shoots and kills moose be so dominant in the decision of selecting a president(both are fakes). If Obama were white, these issues would never come up. How can a man with so much ability be caught up with so many negatives(experience, integrity, religion, honesty, personal associations, etc.)? How can there be so many undecided voters at this late stage when the economy is in the tank? The answer is racism. Yes, I am playing the race card because it will trump everything else. Obama will not win because of his race unless Blacks, Latinos,non-racist whites and young people vote in high numbers.Hilary Clinton was right when she said that she had the best chance of winning the election.

Chad- We are not talking about large corporations…………
We are talking about small businesses.
Large multinational corporations have some similarities in argument, but are a different discussion on many others.
If you agree with my points on small business taxation, just say so…Its ok…. If you do not justify your point on this specific subject. I don’t want the money any small business of mine earns to be redistributed, by someone else in governement. I should have a right to control my own destiny. Not have my destiny limited because I have to pay taxes for a social program I or my family will never use or get no benfit from……Thats it…….
Thanks,

Tell it like it is- I agree racism has a part to play here…
So does reverse racism….
There are alot of people that will not vote for Obama because he is 1/2 black eventhough they agree with his platform (I don’t).
There are alot of people that ARE going to vote for Obama, with little knowledge of what he stands for, and do not care. Its just that he is African American (or half…whatever).
Both situations are pur BS.
My vote is based on who will not dip in my pocket…. Which candidate will best protect( at home and abroad) my albility to prosper so that my family can reap the benefits of my hard work and initiative.
While Obama has alot of attributes, and potential, no Fortune 500 Company would hire him a CEO with the experience he has.
Why then, should he be President of the most powerful country on earth? This is not even going into his ability to slip and move around the questions regarding his assocaitions and how they influence his beliefs…
While that concerns me, we all have sketchy ppl. we have known in our pasts…
Gotta get past the black white BS… and blacks need to do it just as much as whites.
Its about money, and who wants to roll up the sleeves and earn, really earn some scratch, and keep what they earn.

You flat rate taxers are really stupid. Don’t you realize that this year the rate might be 10% but the government would find an excuse to raise it to say 12% next year then 16% the next and so on. We would never see the end until it reached 100%. Leave the tables alone so we can get ahead of inflation. By the way I can’t believe you people didn’t notice that obama never says anything different to me he’s the black mans tony robbins. Saying the same rehearsed thing over and over using a slight change in words.

Barack Obama missed an oppurtunity to draw a distinction between his running mate and that of John McCain’s A candidate for President should exercise the judgement to choose a running mate that is as qualified if not more qualified then the candidate to be President. I did that, John McCain clearly did not, or if he thinks he did, then that reflects more on him.

Sarah Palin’s qualifications as governor is impressive. BUT when you realize that W was also a governor, you just cringe. Look where that got us! What’s incredible is that Palin has less knowledge than Bush, yet she comes accross as arrogant. If she had the intelligence to back her arrogance, I wouldn’t have a problem with her. It’s embarassing that she isn’t allowed to give interviews. That’s how little the Republican party think of her. The other trait that Bush and Palin have in common is that they are DIVIDERS of the country NOT uniters!

Chad my boy…you are so full of hate and fear. You throw around insults, covering up your lack of knowledge concerning politics, issues and McCain/Palin. You sir are a hateful bore incapable of carrying on a decent conversation. Check your facts before beginning your endless, mindless jabbering. And don’t count out McCain/Palin just yet. Don’t be afraid.
