Obama words, Obama words, Obama words..

Barack Obama is a guy who picks up words and phrases from Category A and Category B briefing papers so that he sounds knowledgeable but says nothing.

An example comes from Wednesday’s panel discussion on national security at Purdue University. Part A is understandable: “As long as nuclear weapons exist, we’ll retain a strong deterrent. But we will make the goal of eliminating all nuclear weapons a central element of our nuclear policy.” OK. Fair enough. That’s a defensible policy position, even though the idea of a leftist community organizer from Chicago making those decisions makes me exceedingly nervous.

The trap I fear is that he’d be so eager to produce results that he’d give away the store in return for promises and illusions. But I’ll grant that he’ll have access to some adults, like Sam Nunn, and may be persuaded by more seasoned counsel.

At the Perdue session, after offering one phrase from Category A of the National Security Dialogue, Obama turned to Category B and said this:

“The danger … is that we are constantly fighting the last war, responding to the threats that have come to fruition, instead of staying one step ahead of the threats of the 21st century.”

Walk down the street. Stop a liberal and/or a wino. Ask him about the problem in the military’s conduct of war. All together now: The problem is “that we are constantly fighting the last war” blah, blah, blah.

I will note that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld pursued a small force/high mobility strategy in Iraq that was not an example of the tendency to fight the last war — and he got creamed by the critics, including John McCain, who argued for a much larger force.

Anyway, I’d defy anybody to take Obama’s charge that we should respond “to the threats that have come to fruition instead of staying one step ahead of the threats of the 21st century” and translate it into a policy that conveys anything. It’s just words from Category B.

Rumsfeld’s Doctrine of light and lean, but quick and hard was the correct way to get OBL in Afghanistan in 2002: send in a lean smart force quickly and strike hard at Al Queda which had been tree’d by CIA led efforts. Rumsfeld was a great general, man. But enough about reality.

In the new reality-free zone of the 2008 presidential campaign, Wooten now is dissecting improvised campaign rhetoric and suggesting that either candidate might could possibly maybe just maybe, baby, be an incompetent, treacherous, or traitorous president. He poses ‘what ifs’, instead of dissecting the provable, knowable past. He’s accused Obama of everything except violating the neutral zone. (against federation rules). Wooten may as well write that it was really the Germans who bombed Pearl Harbor after all.

Wooten wont write about anything real. This entire campaign is fantastic spin about non-sequiturs. Wasn’t there a Twilight Zone episode where a journalist would dream the headlines and then voila it would be news?

How did that voice-over go…”You’re traveling in another dimension of Space, the final frontier, (McCain’s 1000 mile gaze at a recent press conference), …..to boldly go where no mind has drifted before, (McCain’s thought processes without a script)…….”

The longer they employ the conservative cloaking device of disinformation and spurious allegations, the larger Obama’s lead will grow. Fool me twice (2000,2004), shame on me, fool voters three times, shame on liberty.

Good morning all. I registered myself this morning at the getdrunkandvoteMcCain website. Sure, we can all sign onto a policy of unilateral disarmament – worked for Chamberlain in the 1930s, and for Jimmy it in the 1970s after we lost our inordinate fear of communism. (I know, Obama and Iran will dicker over “you first” until Israel is nuked.) How do you tell a leftist whiner from a wino? The wino knows what he wants out of life, and takes rational steps to accomplish his goal, but believes he has no right to steal from others to further his purpose.

Really, Obama has learned the great lesson of politics, you sell the sizzle and not the steak. Our leftist brothers pretend that the world is a “more dangerous place” now that President Bush’s plan has wiped out Al Qaeda. Our leftist brothers remind us that we “cannot drill ourselves out of the energy shortage,” which is akin to saying we cannot educate ourselves out of high school or grow enough crops to prevent famine (remember they really did say the latter back when the “population bomb” was the equivalent of global warming?) Remotely related, Chairman Ann today has a funny routine on the leftist energy “policy” for those among us possessed with a sense of humor.

So Obama gives us the Oprah feel-good while glossing over the details. Either he will renegotiate NAFTA (bad idea) or he won’t (good idea). Either he will close off illegal immigration (bad idea) or he won’t (good idea.) Either he will remove all military from Iraq in 15 months (bad idea) or he won’t (good idea.) Either he will raise taxes on the wealthy (bad idea) or he will raise taxes on the wealthy (bad idea – I did not say he was flip-flopping on every issue. He is congenitally wrong on some.)

Advance copy from Obama’s speech next week: “My fellow Americans, we must move forward not backward, upward not forward, and always twirling, twirling, twirling toward freedom.” Inspiring.

Perhaps Jim, you missed this:

Today, we will focus on nuclear, biological, and cyber threats - three 21st century threats that have been neglected for the last eight years. It’s time to break out of Washington’s conventional thinking that has failed to keep pace with unconventional threats. In doing so, we’ll better ensure the safety of the American people, while building our capacity to deal with other challenges - from public health to privacy.

But whatever you do, don’t talk about McCain’s lies as discussed at GOPUSA.

Or what a tough couple of days he’s had.

Just Another Day for John McCain

After Voting For Education Cuts, McCain Touts Education Reform At NAACP

Conservatives Peddle Hurricane-Spill Lie For Entire Month…..

McCain was against additional U.S. forces in Afghanistan before he was for it.

McCain opposed gay adoption before his campaign concluded he didn’t really mean it.

In the Senate, McCain opposed a variety of measures on equal pay for women, and endorsed the Supreme Court’s Ledbetter decision. In July, however, McCain said, “I’m committed to making sure that there’s equal pay for equal work. That … is my record and you can count on it.”

Few House Republicans have contributed to Sen. John McCain since he clinched the Republican nomination at the end of February.

Good morning Jim,We do get more cynical as we age, don’t we?

I like your liberal/wino comparison.I believe that most winos vote liberal.I really like the idea of having an adult supervise Obama.I never realized what was missing until I saw it in print.

Senator George Mitchell was always credited with never having had an origional idea.Enter Obama.

On the lighter side:Maybe consumer attitude is starting to affect the price of oil.

A pipe line is going to be built between The Alberta oil sands and Port Arthur,Texas.I forget the exact number of billions it’s going to cost.Another is in the talking ? stage between the oil sands and Maine, later to be transported by ship to the Gulf coast.I don’t understand that pipeline, but who am I?I hope it’s our Gulf coast.

So, your point is then, Mr. Wooten, that Barack Obama is infringing on George W. Bush’s monopoly of “I’ve got my tongue wrapped around my eyetooth and I can’t see what I’m saying”?

You don’t have to be a blind conservative not to see it, just an ignorant one to deny it.

Jim:

I don’t know that I’d be relying too heavily on Sam Nunn to be offering grown-up advice to the naive, idealistic child, Obama

From a speech Nunn made in Germany:

The bottom line: The world is heading in a very dangerous direction.

With these growing dangers in mind, former U.S. Secretaries of State George Schultz and Henry Kissinger, former U.S. Secretary of Defense Bill Perry and I published an op-ed in January 2007, and a follow-up piece in 2008, in The Wall Street Journal that called for a different direction for our global nuclear policy with both vision and steps.

The four of us, and the many other security leaders who have joined us, are keenly aware that the quest for a nuclear weapons free world is fraught with practical and political challenges. As The Economist magazine wisely said in 2006: “By simply demanding the goal of a world without nuclear weapons without a readiness to tackle the practical problems raised by it ensures that it will never happen.”

We have taken aim at the practical problems by linking visions of a nuclear-free world with a series of steps for reducing nuclear dangers and carving a path towards a world free of the nuclear threat.

Without the bold vision, the actions will not be perceived as fair or urgent. Without the actions, the vision will not be perceived as realistic or possible.

We don’t believe our example is likely to inspire Iran, North Korea or al Qaeda to drop their weapons ambitions, but we believe it would become more likely that many more nations will join us in a firm approach to stop the proliferation of nuclear weapons and materials and prevent catastrophic terrorism.

It’s all about the VISION…….REALITY be damned.

Withdrawing troops from Iraq and increasing in Afghanistan.

Is w using Obama’s positions?

The dems should compromise to get w to release the oil reserves and he gets to drill.

Then use Obama’s idea to invest 150 billion in alternative energy.

” Even though the idea of a leftist community organizer from Chicago making those decisions makes me exceedingly nervous.”

Yeah Wooten, like having a man with a bad temper in his 70s with the power to nuke the entire world doesn’t make me nervous. It’s not working this time Wootie; your party has screwed itself and no amount of fearmongering is gonna gin up any votes in your favor this time. These Republicans can call Obama every name in the book; Hussein, Osama, Muslim, Black Panther, Liberal, it doesn’t matter. All of that is still better than having Bush in office now and another Republican in office in ‘09. Doesn’t matter, and when you and your party finally realize that maybe you all can actually sit down and draft a platform that has everyday citizens in mind and not your Corporate friends. You have diehard Republicans on here like Dusty that are left with nothing more than namecalling as their defense on why Obama shouldn’t be elected. They can’t exactly say the country has been prosperous under Bush now can they? Can’t say he’s kept us safe when 9/11 happened while he was reading My Pet Goat, and in 7 years still hasn’t caught OBL. Remember he had OBL on a poster, WANTED: DEAD OR ALIVE. Yeah right. With all the money this country spends on the military-industrial complex and all the technology the military has at its disposal (I watch the Military Channel), we should be asking for our money back if they can’t find this guy.

Instead of fear, how about you come back to reality and stick to the facts! Isn’t that what REAL journalists do? Bush said that the economy is “still funamentally strong.” Banks are failing, Fannie and Freddie are being bailed out with my money, inflation is at its highest in over 25 years, 600K jobs lost this year, and the economy is sound? I left out $4 gas by the way too. You and W. must be smoking the same thing. How about you talk how your boy McCain can correct the damage BushCo has done. One, it does not matter one iota what the Wootens of this country and his myopic, inane enablers here think, say or do. This hijacked, non-conservative GOP has been emasculated to the point where they are now completely irrelevant and totally impotent.

Secondly, no matter their plaintive and excessive gum gnashing, Bushco has ensured that the far right nut jobs of the Republican Party are going to get decimated for a second straight election, thus ensuring that their ideology of failure and immorality slips further to the fringes where it rightly belongs.

Do you on purpose respectfully call Mr. McClain Senator McClain but yet cannot call Senator Obama his correct title?

Can you call Mr. Obama Harvard Law Graduate?

Can you call Mr.Obama President of the Harvard Law Review?

Can you call Mr. Obama 2 term Senator from Ilinois?

Can you call Mr. Obama U.S. Senator from Illinois?

Can you call Mr. Obama a senator who reached accross party line to create a bill to prevent nuclear prolicafication?

Because we are trying to get Iran from going Nuclear!

Can you call Mr. Obama who passed a bill to fund quick response for national outbreaks of bird flu and other potential epedemic diseases in the United States!

Can you call Mr. Obama the U.S. Senator who outsmarted the most famous Democratic family in the Democratic party.

Can you call Mr. Obama a manager who has changed the way the DEMOCRAT PARTY WILL go about winning elections by not being just on the left but able to change to get to the center for what is best for this country.

Can you call Mr. Obama a smart man to not vote for drilling in the Colorado Mountains because their is already a lack of water resources and drilling takes a lot of power to get oil of the oil shales.

Water Shortage, Water Shortage will prevent the south and west from Receiving Nuclear Power.

Can say Mr. Obama is wise to believe speculation is at the root of the oil price increase everytime we threaten Iran or if a refinery is down the price of oil foes up even though the AMERICAN consumer has cutback 2 percent which is 1 million barrels per day!

Mr. Wooten do you have anything to say about senator McClain?

My two cents worth:

Getting rid of nuclear weapons would be a good thing but the knowledge is out there and it can’t be put back in the bottle.

I don’t agree with Obama’s positions and I’m not going to vote for him.

However the saying “we’re always fighting the last war” is true throughout world history. This is why weapons always move ahead of tactics. The War Between the States and The First World War would be prime examples of weaponary being far ahead of tactics. In the War Between The States it took generals of both sides a while to learn this. Some never did learn it.

On one hand liberals don’t know how to fight a war. On the other hand, Rumsfeld screwed up. Perhaps, you are finding that many of these issues are not as simplistic as some choose to portray. Maybe, they are complex. Maybe, there are multiple right answers (and wrong ones). Maybe, just maybe, that’s what makes them complex issues. DUH!

And you can’t tell me the country would’ve been better off with Kerry in control, so don’t even think that. Bush was the ‘lesser of two evils’ at the time.

McCain is the lesser of two evils now. He has no foreign policy, he has nothing to fix our current problems.

Last night,

I watched with no small amazement as a CNN reporter asked Obama how the candidate might “refine” (pivot, flip-flop, change-his-mind-after-someone-told-him-too) his Iraq strategy. You know, THE OBAMA STRATEGY of removing all U.S. troops from Iraq in 16 months. Period.

It was scary.

Obama looked like a very immature deer (no rack, yet) in headlights for about 3 seconds (wait, did I get the latest policy update from campaign staff, crap…) before mumbling something about bloodshed in Afghanistan and the need to talk with somebody.

Apparently someone forgot to tell the candidate he’d changed his position again. Oh.

Someone needs to tell the candidate to grow a rack before he gets involved in big-boy business.

HERE ARE SOME OBAMA WORDS FOR YOU THAT HE WILL BE SAYING ON JANUARY 20, 2009:

I, Barack Oabama, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

You’re right, dirtbag - words are important. President Obama’s words, that is.

In Iraq, Mixed Feelings About Obama and His Troop Proposal

Former insurgents turned against the militant group, but local authorities still rely heavily on Americans to keep the peace; the Iraqi Army, largely Shiite, is not allowed to patrol in the area, Mr. Alousy said.

“Al Qaeda would rearrange itself and come back, if the Americans withdraw,” he said. As for Mr. Obama’s plan for withdrawal, “It’s just propaganda for an election.”

Smart fella that ^^^ Mr. Alousy.

Most Iraqis dislike the fact that their country is occupied, but a few well-educated Iraqis who have traveled abroad say they would not oppose a permanent American military presence, something that Mr. Obama opposes. Saad Sultan, the Iraqi government official, said his travels in Germany, where there have been American bases since the end of World War II, softened his attitude toward a long-term presence. “I have no problem to have a camp here,” he said. “I find it in Germany and that’s a strong country. Why not in Iraq?”

I wonder if Saad Sultan went to Princeton with The OBumbler.

So……do you leave Iraq’s future to the troubled masses or to those who are more educated?

I say move the troops out of Germany and into Iraq.

Mrs. Gawdzilla @ 12:26

The article you cite in your post is as fine a backhanded endorsement of Obama as a Washington socialite like Larry Hunter can muster. Hunter’s political equivocation on the Obama endorsement could hardly be more evident.

And I quote:

…when it comes to domestic issues, I don’t take Obama at his word. That may sound cynical. But the fact that he says just about all the wrong things on domestic issues doesn’t bother me as much as it once would have.

And here’s another nugget from the article:

When it comes to health care, I am hoping Obama quietly recognizes that a crusade against pharmaceutical companies would result in the opposite of any intended effect.

And, again, later in the article:

Over the last few decades, economic growth has made Americans at every income level better off. For all his borderline pessimistic rhetoric, Obama knows this. And I believe he is savvy enough to realize that the real threat to middle-class families and the poor - an economic undertow that drags everyone down - cannot be counteracted by an activist government.

And, le moment supreme in this endorsement “drive-by”:

If economic damage from well-intentioned but misbegotten Obama economic schemes is the ransom we must pay him to clean up this foreign policy mess, then so be it.

Gee, with endorsement friends like this…

Tray @ 1:16 PM EDT - You are correct…”McAmnasty” is the lesser of two (Globalist Elite controlled) evils…but only on the surface. At their core, they are both shills for the Elite.

As I’ve stated on prior blogs/discussions, the GOP & DNC “leadership” are two sides of the same Internationalist coin. There’s no true, core difference (only superficial) between “Bacrock Obummer” & “Juan McAmnasty”. To quote patriot & Constitution Party candidate Dr.Chuck Baldwin…“Both Barack Obama and John McCain will do nothing to secure our borders and ports. Neither will do anything to quench the thirst of our federal government for intrusions abroad and meddling within. Neither will do anything to stop the machinations and lust of the power-elite for globalism and corporatism. They will do nothing to stop the NAFTA superhighway or the burgeoning North American Union (NAU/SPP). They will do nothing to rid our country of its dependence on foreign oil, and neither will they do anything to stop the infatuation with spending billions and billions of taxpayer dollars on foreign aid. Elect either John McCain or Barack Obama and it will be business as usual in Washington, D.C.”

Regarding McCain list of accomplishments

what would McCain say his greatest legislative accomplishments were? I took a look at the “About” page on McCain’s website, looking for accomplishments. It touts his “record of leadership,” but doesn’t include a single reference to an accomplishment from McCain’s quarter-century as a member of Congress…..Well, “About” pages tend to be kind of vague, so perhaps I was looking in the wrong place. There’s also a timeline of the important milestones in McCain’s life on his website. (It skips over some of the personal details, such as his adultery and divorce.) It’s a lengthy review of McCain’s awards and key moments, but it lists just one piece of legislation: “May 20, 2002 - Final passage of John McCain’s trademark McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform legislation, which reformed the influence of money in political campaigns.” This, in and of itself, is kind of interesting. After more than 25 years in Washington, McCain mentions just one landmark bill — which he now no longer wants to talk about, because the Republican base hates the legislation. Indeed, it’s also worth considering the fact that McCain no longer stands by his only landmark legislation, and has flip-flopped on some of the provisions of his own bill…..If the race comes down to legislative accomplishments, I think McCain’s in trouble.

What in the name of heaven has McCain been doing over 4 terms in the Senate??

I tried a number of searches my self…and cannot find a comprehensive list of McCain’s accomplishmenst anywhere.

C’mon Righties….this should be YOUR homework - WHAT ARE MCCAIN’S ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Served honorably in Vietnam…..then what?

Seriously, THEN WHAT?

It has taken McCain 24 years in the Senate to decide that it should change?

It took Obama 2 years!

Didn’t you just pull your own “pull words from Category A and then Category B”? On one hand, Obama offers a sensible approach to nuclear disarmament, on the other hand he doesn’t. DUH!

Dear getalife @ 10:19, “Using diplomacy in Iran and the warmongering has stopped to lower oil prices.” Was it that, or was it a unilateral presidential termination of restrictions on drilling? Jim Wooten, it takes an adult, a thinking person, to appreciate what you’re talking about. Our organization has exposed and conquered that kind of category speak among black people for the past forty five years. Most so-called educated integrationist Negroes can make a statement in category A and the next sentence out of category B is a total contradiction to A. But it sounds good, intelligent. They are usually oblivious to the contradiction. And should anyone attempt to expose it, you will be charged with negativity or racism. Can you imagine what speaking out of categories without real knowledge does to the mind of a child during the formative years? They will be completely confused.

A typical example of Category speak among Negroes is evident in the following example.

“Let’s celebrate the life of our leaders of the past, the honorable Marcus Garvey, Malcolm X and W.E.B Dubois, Martin Luther King Jr. etc.” These are obvious contradiction; an obvious classic example of speaking without the benefit of knowledge.

Jim Wooten has argued in the past that black families need fathers in the household. Seventy percent of black children are born out of wedlock. And having fathers in the family would improve the lives of black children, etc.

I have argued that having fathers in the black family is not the answer altogether. The overwhelming majority of black people, ninety percent, are suffering from a N**** mind. Marriage sounds good, but it won’t have a positive impact on the state of black families. But an individual finding an organization possessing the power to kill the N**** mind is the key to solving the problems of the black family.

The good news is that God, in his infinite wisdom, has not left Negroes hopeless. There are black adults with sound minds in our community that’s competent, able, and ready to lead. And you can find them if you search with all of your heart.

This is the problem America has when we replace opinion with fact; wacko fringe elements like Tray, or Boortz, or Hannity, think their ignorant opinions stack up against people who actually UNDERSTAND what they’re talking about.

Hint: You don’t. Facts are immune to your beliefs, and the FACT is that the Constitution applies to more than just U.S. citizens. Ask any lawyer or judge—i.e., someone who knows what they’re talking about—and you might learn something that upsets your prejudices.

BFKaJ @ 2:33PM EDT - Allow me to further clarify…I don’t have hostility to the illegals themselves. I understand they’re trying to earn a better living for their families & I respect that (in & of itself). However, I have much hostility to the traitors on “Crapitol sHill” & the White House who want to implement a police-state (airport security for “terorists”..ie - shakedowns of elderly women, etc.), yet leave our southern borders wide open. The hypocrisy of implementing an Orwellian police-state while allowing a massive wave of illegal immigrants is quite disturbing.

BTW, NAFTA has been absolutely devastating to the U.S. manufacturing base & cost Americans thousands of jobs (due to mass outsourcing). In addition, NAFTA is the foundation for the planned/forthcoming & all-too real North American Union (NAU). The NAU will eliminate U.S. sovereignty & borders and implement a EU-modeled bureaucracy with Mexico & Canada. In conjunction with the NAU, a common currency (the “Amero”) is indeed being planned to replace the “conveniently” falling U.S. dollar. As an avowed Constitutionalist, I want NO infringement on U.S. sovereignty or borders. I also expect our elected officials to put the best interest of We the People above Corporate-welfare, foreign handouts, mass outsourcing of American jobs & insourcing of 3rd rate H-1B labor. If you truly value freedom, then you’ll not cast a vote for those who trample our Constitution…ie - “McAmnasty” & “Bacrock Obummer”! I’d suggest looking into Dr.Baldwin further or perhaps Libertarian candidate Bob Barr.

Mrs. Godzilla, if you really think the price of oil dropped just because we may send some diplomats to Iran, you need to learn a bit more!

Flat out, price dropped because upon the announcement of opening the shores for drilling, the ‘speculators’ knew an increase in supply was coming.

We get the same amount of oil from Iran. Opening ‘diplomatic relations’ didn’t increases the supply. Being Iran’s best friend won’t increase the supply. Americans drilling their own oil-that will increase supply.

And for the people who say it will take 10 years before any drilling will help-in 10 years from now, would you rather be paying $15 a gallon, or $10 a gallon?

I thought so!

Also, we know how to drill, so that’s a process we can start NOW. If we ‘explore alternative energy’, well, that’s all we’re doing-research/exploration. Nothing will be “built” within 5 years, just a bunch of research. At least with drilling we can start now, and it will take far lees than 10 years, probably 3 to 4.

And if there really is that much oil, the US can export what it doesn’t need and we can start making money from other countries selling it to them! Saudi Arabia will run out eventually, and the WHOLE WORLD will look to the US for an answer, like it always does…

Sorry, copyleft, but you’re the wrong one. you really do need to do your research.

First off, anyone who is not a citizen of the US, still has to obey our laws while here. Being an illegal immigrant already puts you in violation of those laws. Being a terrorist also puts you in violation. They do not have rights as non citizens! While the U.S. formally gives them those rights, it doesn’t have to.

To counter your argument-why is the world court pressuring the US to not put to death illegal immigrants that violated law in TX? They state that the US didn’t give them (illegal prisoners who committed murder; could’ve been your kid killed, think about that)a chance to talk to a Mexican diplomat.

Guess what, by US law (the country they were in when they committed said crime), they technically should’ve been deported immediately because they HAVE NO RIGHTS HERE. However, they committed a crime, we ‘lended’ them rights-to an attorney, to remain silent, so they could face a fair trial. Had they not committed murder, they simply would’ve been deported because they have no rights as a non citizen.

We do not have to extend those liberties to anyone not a citizen; we do, however, because it is morally more correct to do so, not because we’re bound to.

It’s also morally correct to apologize to me…I’m waiting

There are many reasons for the small drop in oil prices. One reason is that speculators are a little scared of what they’ve done, maybe. This is a rand new ballgame and they’re worried the whole thing may blow up in their face so they procede with caution.

Another reason is the American consumer.Pushed too far, this consumer is going to demand, and get, an alternative.Electric cars, fuel cell cars, hybrid cars are now in demand.Should this demand grow loud enough due to high prices, oil will be somewhat worthless. This can happen relatively quickly.

There is loud talk about outlawing oil speculation. This could happen very quickly if enough people demand it.Opinions are very divided on the effect of speculators. The experts don’t agree on the effects of this issue at all.

I don’t believe that possible diplomats to Iran or maybe some new drilling someday is having any effect now.I also don’t believe that an additional 3 millions barrels in the reserve had any effect either.

I don’t know Mrs. G, would you have had President Bush rush the negotiation process just so you could save money at the pump?

I can think of several other reasons why the price has come down.

A pending strike by oil workers in Brazil.

Kidnappings and attacks on oil fields in Nigeria.

Cash-strapped banks selling off energy assets.

Bush threatening to lift the ban on offshore drilling.

Speculators have a tendency to get really nervous.

Just because they didn’t invite you to sit in on negotiations doesn’t mean they haven’t been going on since day one. Sometimes negotiations are ugly. It’s part of the process.

Dear Mrs. Godzilla @ 2:47, on those two days – the days that the nominations of Messrs Roberts and Alito were approved – I noticed that Obama was doing all he could to protect child rapists. The real issue is not that McCain is so great – he is not – but that Obama is willfully destructive of American values, as evidenced by his votes to reject John Roberts and Sam Alito – unintelligent and uninformed votes. I neither forget nor forgive stupid votes on no-brainer issues.

Dear Copyleft @ 2:58, “the FACT is that the Constitution applies to more than just U.S. citizens.” So long as you really mean “applies to” and not “protects” we can find a place to agree here. We would agree that leftists believe more, that the Constitution confers meaningful Constitutional rights on noncitizens, and we would agree that conservatives think that argument BS. I respectfully suggest you re-read Article 2, Section 1 to note that the Constitution differentiates rights of aliens from rights of citizens. Or maybe the 14th Amendment, Article 1.

Dear Saver @ 2:59, I can agree with much of your argument on immigration, I withdraw my snide comments. I think you err on NAFTA, but both of our positions are essentially immeasurable, based primarily on belief. I note that the Clinton administration had no policy initiative with any potential effect on the economy of the 1990s other than the ratification of the NAFTA treaty, and I note the economy performed well for the subsequent half dozen years. I am a disciple of Schumpeter, and celebrate the creative destruction wrought by NAFTA.

Hey fearless fosdik,

Yeah, I’m well aware that congress (currently Democrat controlled) has to also open the shores before it can happen. By Bush stating it needed to happen, that was enough to lower the price. I’m not proud of Bush, and i can’t name much he’s done in 7 years, but can you name anything Obama’s done in 2?, 4?, 6 years?

How about answering why the price went up when the Dems took over?

How about Obama flipping on every issue just for votes?

I never said Bush did good, and in any post of mine you will never see that. McCain is still the lesser of the 2 evils, with experience.

Obama is the greater of the 2, without any knowledge of how the white house works. (check out the 1:03 PM post for that fact)

You tell me who can be more dangerous for this country and the American people?

Ladies and Gentleman, Obama’s general overall lack of knowledge about running a country is going to bring this country into WWIII. He’s going to talk about something he knows nothing about, offend some countries, and BAM!

Personally, I’d like to stay away from that, and the best wat to do it is
