Both spenders, but one isn’t fixated on past

Grievance activist Jesse Jackson returned from campaign exile this week to the enormous benefit of Barack Obama, demonstrating that in war and politics an adversary’s blunders can deliver great victories.

If the largely vanished Al Sharpton can now find occasion to resurface for the purpose of putting daylight between himself and the Obama campaign, as Jackson did, the campaign’s prospects of appealing to working-class whites will be greatly enhanced. Both are the tired old relics of a bygone era who prosper by denying change. Same world, same problems, same solutions. More government.

Obama offers more government, too, in virtually every speech. Nothing comes without a substantial price tag. But it is of considerable value to Obama, as he attempts to reach working-class whites who peeled away in droves through the late primaries, that Jackson disapproves in memorably crude terms. That is a gift for which the candidate should send thank-you notes.

Jackson’s complaint before an open microphone on Fox was that Obama sometimes seems to be “talking down to black people” in churches when, as he said later on CNN, “the moral message must be a much broader” one. “What we really need is racial justice and urban policy and jobs and health care.”

Either Jackson is not paying attention or objects on style points. Obama does have a knack for recognizing that the world has changed, even when he gets to the solutions that Jackson would offer. An example is a very nicely done Father’s Day speech delivered at the Apostolic Church of God on Chicago’s South Side that was highly critical of men who don’t father their children.

Fathers are critical, and too many are missing, he said. “They have abandoned their responsiblities, acting like boys instead of men. And the foundations of our families are weaker because of it.

“You and I know how true this is in the African-American community. We know that more than half of all black children live in single-parent households, a number that has doubled — doubled — since we were children.”

Those children — 69.3 percent of black, 46.4 percent of Hispanic and 24.5 percent of white babies are born to unmarried women — suffer greatly. “Children who grow up without a father are five times more likely to live in poverty and commit crime,” Obama preached, “nine times more likely to drop out of schools and 20 times more likely to end up in prison. They are more likely to have behaviorial problems, or run away from home, or become teenage parents themselves. And the foundations of our community are weaker because of it.”

At the end, as he always does, Obama has a more-government solution, elements of which have merit.

In getting there, though, he could be construed by Jackson as “talking down.” Black professionals and opinion leaders, with rare exception, are silent (Georgia Supreme Court Chief Justice Leah Ward Sears is an exception) on the harm adults are doing their children, primarily because the Old Guard that Jackson represents has a vested power interest in insisting that discrimination and too few government programs are the primary problem.

After Jackson apologized, an Obama spokesman took the opportunity to note that the candidate “has spoken and written for many years about the issue of parental responsibility, including the importance of fathers participating in their children’s lives” in addition to jobs and justice issues. Jackson specifically chided Obama in the Fox open-mic conversation for his stand in support of President Bush’s faith-based initiatives. It’s heresy, of course, for any liberal to suggest that there might be an alternative to more government. Obama didn’t exactly commit that crime.

He did, however, embrace the idea of faith-based organizations using public money to provide services for the needy. “The challenges we face today,” he said earlier this month, “are simply too big for government to solve alone.”

Under Obama it would be expanded government. That’s a given. Always. He thinks social service spending was too little under Bush and proposes a $500 million-per-year program for summer tutoring, something faith-based organizations could do.

Both Jackson and Obama are for more government. The difference is that Jackson’s world is fixed in yesterday.

What, Mrs. Duhzilla doesn’t work on the weekends?

~~~~~
The hack anti American liberals, having lost the war in Iraq, move their propaganda operations to Afghanistan and start the same tired bullsh!t all over again:
Afghanistan: Airstrike killed 47 civilians-A U.S. military airstrike this week killed 47 civilians traveling to a wedding, the head of an Afghan government commission investigating the incident said Friday- Doom and Gloom/PMS
A whole new fresh platform from which to launch hate stories against our brave troops, eh, Urinal?
Get ready for it, at least until we blow Pakistan off the map, Halliburton, torture, wedding parties, detainees, blah, blah, blah, like we don’t know what’s coming, sure thing.
POS.
~~~~~

Hundreds of followers of radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr took to the streets Friday in the southern city of Kufa to protest a proposed security agreement between Iraq and the United States.-Urinal/PMS

Huh, I thought there was no security agreement, funny how things change so quickly, ain’t it?

It’s almost like those stories last week about Iraq rejecting the agreement and calling for our withdrawal were nothing but lying as-s propaganda.

Just like I said.

Bwa.

~~~~~
Listen to this PMS sufferer at thee Urinal:
‘Kill’ blasts notion of Iraq war glory- HBO has deployed a buzz saw that demolishes whatever vestigial notion viewers had about the glory and romance of war, this one in particular.-Urinal/DNC
I get it, now the TV is real life.
Wonderful, the libs make propaganda films and then get to babble see, we told you.
Get a grip, wanker.
~~~~~

Aahhh, yes, a new feature at thee Doom and Gloom:

BLOGS’ BEST- Recent postings on ajc.com/opinion-Urinal/PMS

Does it not surprise you that they would pick the mindless lib sycophants?:

Mrs. Godzilla: Wooten may be right, but I suspect it will be very close until the end. In 2004, 41.4% of the vote went to John Kerry. Those voters will go Obama. Most of the newly registered will go Obama. Most of the Independents will go Obama. Lots of the GOP will go Barr or stay home. Then there are the Obamacons. . …It’ll be close. (<————-AJC/DNC employee, by the way.)

Add it all up, everyone is either voting for Mr. I Know How To Run Your Life or Bob Barr, but yet, ”it’ll be close.”

Yeesh.

~~~~~~
Maybe Phil Gramm was right:
Enthusiasm was high ahead of the Friday morning launch of the new phone.- Nick Epperson, a 24-year-old student in medical school, spent the night outside the Buckhead AT&T store, keeping his cheer up with bags of Doritos, three games of Scrabble and two packs of cigarettes. He was part of the first group let into the store.-Urinal/PMS
Slam in the middle of a whiny Urinal story about I Phone “problems,” we get an unintended glimpse into that fat pampered cushy anything they want lives of an average American.
Hordes of people waiting outside for the newest toy, a $1500 a year luxury item, so they can check baseball scores and babble endlessly at each other from afar.
Yeah, real tough out there..
~~~~~

Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin announced Friday that she will plug the city’s budget shortfall by not filling 53 police officer vacancies, not hiring 27 Fire Department recruits and closing the city’s oldest fire station.-Doom and Gloom/DNC

Notice how the budget cuts proposed by the libs in government always put you at greater risk but not them?

When you live within the confines of a dhimmokrat controlled seat of power and you hear the pinkos talk about “sacrifice,” you may as well go ahead and grab your ankles.

Cause you’re getting screwed.

~~~~~
So how many times can thee Doom and Gloom say this:
NATION IN BRIEF: Costly gas = safer roads?-Urinal A Section
Study: High gas cuts auto deaths-Urinal “Business” Section
Yeah, let’s get all those stupid poor people off the roads, right, Urinal?
~~~~~

There are some things you just know the AJC/DNC are lying about:

White House rejects anti-pollution approach-Urinal/PMS

I’m getting off subject here but I truly believe that the biggest challenge that America faces, one we must overcome if there is any hope for our future, an even bigger challenge than the war on terror or energy prices, is getting the dhimmokrat party to grow up.

Their whole outlook on important issues has to be reduced to cartoon like proportions, complete with a boogeyman, just so they can understand it or even care about it.

The same way you would teach a lesson to a small child, if you wanted them to remember and take it seriously.

That’s the language the Urinal employs to communicate it’s agenda to it’s stunted readership, just imagine the above headline for a moment, in cartoon form:

Bushie opening the pollution valve back up, dumping gunk straight back into the rivers, forests and climate, with a look of glee plastered upon has face, right?

Really, how infantile can you get?

And I guarantee you the hacks at the AJC/DNC were all proud of themselves when they created this kindergarden headline.

Anyway:

The Bush administration on Friday rejected regulating greenhouse gases blamed for global warming, blah, blah, blah, saying it would hurt the U.S. economy and cause too many job losses.-Urinal/PMS

Gee, the British people are saying the same thing the Bushie said:

The Labour Party got its biggest hammering in 40 years as British voters revolted against carbon taxes. London threw out Mayor Ken Livingstone and elected climate realist Boris Johnson. Labour had “savaged the poor, battered Brits with tax after tax,…” mostly justified by reducing the carbon footprint

The British have been getting hammered for years with carbon taxes with no “results” and have revolted, American style, against their environmental terrorist government.

Make no mistake about it, what Bushie rejected was a dhimmikrat vehicle to “justify” carbon taxes, do you think the poor and needy really need an increase in energy prices?

And I’ll bet you didn’t know, goony AJC reader, that the US and France were the only nations that reduced carbon emissions during the last period:

France - Emissions rates in France are relatively low for an industrialized country, partially due to a high share of nuclear energy.

And then this:

Court scraps law to reduce emissions- The regulation, known as the Clean Air Interstate Rule, required 28 mostly Eastern states to reduce smog-forming and soot-producing emissions that can travel long distances in the wind. The Environmental Protection Agency had predicted it would prevent about 17,000 premature deaths a year.-Urinal/PMS

“The power-generating industry had already invested billions and billions of dollars in anticipation of the trading market,” Bumpers said. “They’re not happy with this development.”

Check it out, instead of eliminating the foul pollution emitted by coal fired plants and replacing it with clean nuclear energy, the libs want to “trade carbon” what ever the hell good that will do.

Like I said, when are you going to grow up and act like a responsible adult?

Sad.

~~~~~~
ENERGY: Oilman pitches wind power- T. Boone Pickens is putting big money behind his plan to cut crude oil imports.-Urinal/Dimwits
Gosh, I wonder if he wants the price of oil to stay high, hmmmmm?
Duh.
Definition: Wootie and the Blowtrolls.
Wootie and the Blowtrolls are the vestiges of the Bush Base, which represents the lunatic fringe, but also encompasses any wet, garish, concealed-tampon-carrying weapons-grade fissure.
Every word Wootie and the Blowtrolls write must make reference to the conservative philosophy no matter how oblique or obscure the connection, because they sold their souls to become journalists. They dont actually feel that way, but if they try to amend their published manifestos, they’re out on their boney b-holes.
Worse, conservatism, like the mission in Iraq, is undecipherable as a movement. They dont even know what it is they stand for even if they could enunciate it. They stand only for themselves. Get it?
It’s just hate speak. Wootie hates other americans, and only expresses hatred in terms of other americans, and in a time of war, is an unspeakably unpatriotic miscarriage of Lady Liberty’s honor.
Just once, I would like to read about wookie’s hatred for OBL, even though woopie is beholden to OBL because without OBL’s survival, there can be no Iraq.
If Wootie and his Blowtribbles were real patriots, they’d have investigated why there’s not one piece of paper that proves W was on the planet during his term in the military. Not a credit card receipt. Not a signed order. Nothing.
The power to obliterate proof of W’s desertion in time of war, (nam), comes from Bush Sr’s CIA connections.
That’s too much abuse of power and I fear it. I fear it as I would fear a God. or a devil. or a traitor with his finger on the button…..
Just what will conservatism do to retain it’s shrinking power? Will they hire blackwater mercenaries to patrol the streets a license to kill at their own discretion and judgement? Fire upon any american walking around in the vicinity of rich people’s mansion compounds?
That’s what Wootie represents: the military coup and control of our streets with armed mercenaries exiled from baghdad and nothing else to do.
What do you do with an army once the war is over? Our real army will go home. Get jobs, (good luck with that). Blackwater mercenaries will hire out to paranoid rich folk who will instruct them to fire first and ask question later, just like the same blackwater dudes have been doing over in Iraq for five years now. They murdered children, under our flag, and with Cheney’s enthusiastic approval, and smirk….the cheney smirk obliterates justice and truth everytime.
Blackwater Mercenaries are not bound by international law, or the constitution of the usa, or any legal jurisdiction, thanx to a secret law Cheney inserted in the bills that were passed to save orphan children who nearly drowned in Katrina and were near death, and our congress had to pass emergency funding to save them, but they didn’t know Cheney snuck in a rider which legalized the wanton slaughter of those same orphans if’n Blackwater said that one of the orphans took a shot at them from their hospital beds as the mercenaries drove past the hospital in their IED reinforced humvees with double barreled .50 calibre machine guns in a turret on top.
That’s the america Wootie and his Blowtribbles want, and are conspiring to get.
Word.
Republican writers like Mr. Jim castigate Democracts with the big government label. Virtually every Republican candidate and office holder for the last 30-40 years has been for less government and less government spending. Yet under Reagan and Bushes leadership government has expanded enormously, far surpassing that of budget balancer Bill Clinton. As a matter of fact, greater than any Democratic administration. Folks, the “righties” are lying to us. It’s time to call their deception. In fact, the tax cuts of R and B’s have really been tax shifts to future generations resulting in massive deficits. The harm R and B’s have done to this great country is immeasureable.
To think of all the mayhem, bedlam, hysteria, conniving and hair pulling unleashed by the goon left on behalf of Joe and Valerie Wilson, all because Cheney said that their two bit yellow cake report was bogus, after all that, it turns out Cheney was right:
550 metric tons of yellowcake uranium worth tens of millions of dollars were shipped out of Iraq to Canada. The material was transported in 37 military flights in 3,500 secure barrels, according to the Associated Press.
The United Nations weapons inspectors were aware of 1.8 metric tons, so even a public school educated pinko should be able to figure out that Saddam bought 448.2 metric tons from Niger.
Isn’t delicious to think that after all that whining and moaning from the left that they are the ones really getting “outed?”
A month after emerging victorious from the bruising Democratic nominating contest, some of Barack Obama’s glow may be fading. In the latest NEWSWEEK Poll, the Illinois senator leads Republican nominee John McCain by just 3 percentage points, 44 percent to 41 percent. The statistical dead heat is a marked change from last month’s NEWSWEEK Poll, where Obama led McCain by 15 points, 51 percent to 36 percent.
Still, to liken the current moment to the Great Depression, or even the early 1980s, as Campaign Economists have, is to whine, just as Gramm said. During the Depression, people lost their homes even though they had borrowed only 10 percent of the purchase price. People losing their homes today frequently have borrowed 90 percent or more. The country approached double-digit unemployment in the early 1980s. This week, even as McCain was trying to talk his campaign past Gramm’s comments, joblessness stood at a historically modest 5.5 percent.
And Campaign Econ has costs. The first is that talk of a downturn — or “mental recession,” as Gramm put — can itself generate a downturn. Keynesian economists say this is so because consumer spending slows when people are afraid. But there’s also a non-Keynesian dynamic. Grumbling leads to costly government rescues that scare markets and slow growth.
And with luck, this fake economic downturn will gobble up one of it’s creators, thee AJC/ Doom and Gloom.
Now consider the Democratic Party. The one-on-one rivalry between Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama lasted only about three months from beginning to end. Their policy disagreements are negligible. For many Clinton supporters, the chance to elect an African-American President represents the culmination of a cause they have been fighting for all their lives. Yet almost half of Clinton supporters tell pollsters that they will not vote for Obama. And Clinton’s big-money backers are deflecting money and energy away from their party’s presumptive nominee.
We’ve all heard humorless America-haters promote themselves by announcing, As Thomas Jefferson said, “Dissent is the highest form of patriotism.”
The first problem with that self-righteous bull is that Jefferson never said it. On the contrary, he warned of the dangers of political dissension carried to extremes.
The earliest traceable provenance of the slogan goes back to an obscure 1960s lefty who just made it up (long before activist-historian Howard Zinn commandeered it).
My fellow Americans, let me ask you: Were Abby Hoffman, Jerry Rubin and Sen. Barack Obama’s Weatherman Underground pals (who bombed their own country) really more patriotic than those who served in Vietnam? Was trashing the campus records office truly the “highest form of patriotism?”
Audacity is for innovators, risk-takers and crusaders - for those willing to stand in the fire of public opinion and tell a million people they’re wrong and here’s why. Audacity’s not for the passive mob hoping government will fix everything (while blaming government for everything).
Hope is the opposite of audacity. It’s passive, an excuse for inaction.
What on earth does the “audacity of hope” mean? Nothing. It just sounds good.
I do have hope, though:
OK, peeps, in spite of this constant and futile baying at the moon by these moronic, myopic and misnamed conservatives (those who coincidentally hijacked and virtually ruined the now dysfunctional Republican Party) we all know what the deal really is in this country.
We’ve got to save it. Along with the rest of the planet.
Our children and their children are counting on us, and sadly the far political right in this nation seems intent of f&cking up everything they touch.
And idle talking isn’t going to get it done.
And there isn’t anyone else. Not your mommy. Not your daddy and certainly not some demented newspaper columnist.
The answer is relatively simple and very straight forward.
Though it is already almost a certain fait accompli, the time has come to remove anyone with the stench of fake conservatism from a position of power. Any and every position. Any and everywhere.
Should Senator McCain win the White House you’ll see no tears from me, as I will not vote for Senator Obama.
But should even ONE other tenured Republican remain in office, it will be because we didn’t work hard enough to prevent the continuance of this ongoing GOP calamity that has been allowed to fester since 1980 and Ronald Raygun.
Throw them out.
This November will be your chance. Don’t blow it…
TODAY’S MIKE LUCKOVICH
Hey look, the Urinal house coward did a cartoon showing all the hacks that used to work for the AJC at his blog, where they all had jobs stalking me.
And Phil Gramm nails it.
Is that you in the middle, SNEWZE?
~~~~~

The race for the White House is tied. The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows Barack Obama and John McCain each attract 43% of the vote. When “leaners” are included, Obama holds a statistically insignificant 47% to 46% advantage. Today is the first time that McCain’s support has moved above 45% since Obama clinched the nomination on June 3. It’s also the first time the candidates have been tied since Obama clinched the Democratic nomination (see recent daily results).

By the way, my goodness it has been nice not seeing sHrillary KKKlinton in the news lately.

~~~~~
Gloom and Doom, blah, blah, blah:
Today’s crunch feels like ’70s- By Michael E. Kanell of thee Urinal “The similarities are there,” said economist Gerald Lynch of Purdue University. “That was a miserable time for the economy. And the clothes were ugly, too.”
It doesn’t surprise me none that the second coming of Paul Krugman, thee Urinal’s very own house hysteric, Michael E Kanell, doesn’t know his economic history very well at all.
1970 income tax rate 70%, 2008 income tax rate 30%.
1970 home mortgage interest 18%, 2008 home mortgage interest 5.5%.
1970 unemployment rate 7.5%, 2008 unemployment rate 5.5%
By any measure you want to use, the 2008 economy is multiple times better than the slog we suffered through with Dhimmi Carter.
Do the goony libs long for thee malaise to return triumphant?
Do they consider economic prosperity to be when the U.S. economy crashes and burns?
WTF is Kanell talking about?
Is the problem the economy or the people whining about it?
~~~~~

Doom and Gloom, blah, blah, blah:

Thee morose, end of the world as we know it headline:

Dumpster diving goes pro as prices rise-Doom and Gloom/DNC

Buried within the story where thee dim readership of the Urinal will never venture:

With prices for aluminum, cardboard and newsprint going up and an economic slowdown putting added pressure on people’s pocketbooks, curbside refuse has become a hot commodity.

Commodities prices have skyrocketed, China and India are booming and need the raw materials, hence high prices.

It’s like putting coin out on the street, and I don’t care if this was the “roaring” KKKlinton economy, people were boosting aluminum and manhole covers back then too.

But even more so, why is government picking up and “recycling” your aluminum cans?

For the cash, duh.

So who’s grubbing for money here, the government that is angry that they are losing a revenue stream or the street corner prospectors?

Who exactly is hard up?

~~~~~~
By the way, I like the picture of Cynthia McKinney in thee litter box liner, it captures the essence of moonbat perfectly.
~~~~~

Thee nerve of Queen Pinko to glom onto the notion of “responsibility:”

While some no doubt see political calculation in Obama’s remarks, he has, in fact, stressed parental responsibility for years. Because he spent his early adulthood as a community organizer on Chicago’s South Side, where many children are trapped in impoverished single-parent homes, he is acutely aware of the problems caused by absent fathers.-Urinal/DNC

Yeah, and they are still “trapped” there, right where the dhimmokrat party put them, even after thee messiah lorded over them, some agent of “change” this Obambi is.

Now he wants to “trap” all the rest of us.

F that.

~~~~~~
Thee AJC/DNC staff has been submitting vents again:
Conservatives said there’s no global warming, but the northern polar ice cap may be gone this summer; they said if we cut taxes on the rich, we’ll all benefit; they said if we invaded Iraq, we’d be welcomed as liberators. Have they been right about anything?-Urinal Vent
Is this the best you can do, lame-O?
It’s 80 degrees in July, the roads are packed with people pursuing capitalism and we won the Iraq war, hands down.
If every american was a conservative self reliant entrepreneur, and could manage to start a business and make a million dollars next year, our GNP would be 300 trillion dollars.
There’s not that much money in Beatle divorce settlement.
The Beatles. I love the way that looks on the page. The Beatles. Everything about the images and sounds we received only a few months after JFK healed us. The Beatles. What a distraction. What depth. You could ponder the Beatles for hours and days and months and still not get sick of them. How we poured over the album covers and wore the albums out. The Beatles were the first group where you actually bought the whole album. Your parents had bought albums, like West Side Story, Dean Martin’s Italian songs, (Great listening), and Percy Faith. But until the Beatles, we only bought 45’s. Albums were played at 33RPM and that was a weird science sort of thing, the old ways and the old days, and 45rpm was just so cool and modern and one eyed, one horned flying purple people eater. My collection of 45s was standard. The McQuire sister’s “Honey in the morning, honey in the evening, honey at suppertime”. The Ballad of the Alamo. Wolverton Mountain. Sherry Baby. Big girls dont cry. Little old Lady from Pasedena. and a comedy short called “Little Blue Riding Hood” and “St George and the Dragonet”. All classic. We also had Jimmy Dean’s Big John. Now Big John’s flip side had a little ditty called, “I wont go hunting with you Jake, but I’ll go chasing women.” Now as 10 year olds we were intrigued. And we thought it was funny, so we played that song alot. One day my dad overheard the lyrics, “…them gals wear clothes that we aint seen beneath them gingham gowns…”
He burst into the room and began shouting at us about our sex records and immorality and sex and WFT? he destroyed the record in front of us in a rage I had only seen once before, when I was practicing my piano, and he thought I was playing too loud. He burst into the living room and began shouting about how I ruin music or something…..What a lunatic, eh? I was eight then.
It’s raining cats and dogs again. I wonder if the Governor is cursing……
“I guess the question I have, and that people like me in this country have, is what can you say to us to make us believe that you actually came to the right position? We want to take you to the dance, we’re just concerned about who you’re going to go home with.”
The audience laughed, and McCain did, too. Then McCain grew serious. “I have to say, and I don’t mean to disappoint you, but I haven’t changed positions.” He defended his vote against the Bush tax cuts and, at some length, reiterated his concerns about global warming. Later, he went out of his way to emphasize his respect for Hillary Clinton and boast about his work with Democrats Joe Lieberman, Russ Feingold, and Swimmer Kennedy.
What a bizarre election year this has become.
Although many of Obama’s recent supporters have been surprised by signs of political opportunism, Preckwinkle wasn’t. “I think he was very strategic in his choice of friends and mentors,” she told me. “I’m not sure that’s the way that he approached his public life—that he was going to try for a job and stay there for one period of time. In retrospect, I think he saw the positions he held as stepping stones to other things and therefore approached his public life differently than other people might have.”
There was also a more general belief that, after Obama won the 2004 United States Senate primary, he ignored his South Side base. Preckwinkle said, “My view is you have to bring your constituency along with you. Granted, you have to make some tough decisions. Granted, sometimes you have to make decisions that people won’t understand or like.
