Are Hillary and Huckabee done?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee acknowledges that he “may be killing my political career” by remaining in the Republican presidential race after it’s long been evident that he won’t win the nomination.
Campaigning at the University of Wisconsin in Eau Claire, Huckabee said he may be finished in national politics “but I know this: if we don’t start thinking in terms of solving some of America’s problems, we’re killing all of your careers.”
Later when asked to elaborate, Huckabee said: “I’m just saying there are a lot of people who say I’m staying and creating problems for the party, and there are obviously people in the party who are unhappy that I’ve stayed.”
Staying didn’t matter much in Wisconsin and in Washington Tuesday. John McCain won easily in both and managed to split the conservative vote with Huckabee in Wisconsin.
On the Democratic side, Barack Obama socked away two more states — Wisconsin and Hawaii — putting his string of wins at 10. Hillary Clinton may be about a week away from finding herself in Huckabee’s position — under a great deal of pressure to concede for the party’s sake. She badly needs Texas and Ohio on March 4. Win those and she could make a race of it into the convention.
Her assaults on Obama are having an impact. A three-day Gallup tracking poll finds that she has cut his lead nationally from 7 points to 1. That covered the period where the Clinton campaign has accused Obama of plagiarizing speech material from Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick
She needs some good news. Exit polls in Wisconsin reveal an erosion in her support among working-class whites and women. Hillary does best among the less-educated and the elderly. Obama has solid leads among independents, the well-to-do, voters with a college education and those who are very liberal.
Two questions here, one for those who expect to vote for the Democrat in November and one for those who intend to vote Republican. It’s strongly evident that the two parties represent sharply different directions for the country so nobody who’s been paying attention could be in doubt.
For Republicans: Is it time for Huckabee to pull the plug? I say let him go on; he’s no threat.
For Democrats: Is it over for Hillary?

Well, Jim Wooten, I agree with you. Let Huckabee go on. I would not vote for him but he has given us a lesson in perserverance. If you believe in what you are doing, do not give up easily even when the odds are against you. Yes!!
Huckabee will decide on this issue. Let him! (Besides, he can play a guitar which is more entertaining than throwing water bottles.)

The primaries are there to “sell” yourself to the voters. As far as I’m concerned, there are two slots for sale — President and V.P. Maybe it’s time to differentiate between these two slots. Let the parties compete for each slot independent of each other. Now that might bring a little sport back into the game.

Interesting, eh? It’s like adding vinegar and baking soda — a lot of froth initially with a neutralized substance remaining. Too bad Georgia did not end up with Perdue being neutered — I mean, neutralized — by a Democrat Lieutenant.

The only good news is this Hillary woman is being beat like a rented mule. Its all those Republicans crossing over to vote against her. The librul Democrats like to brag about the turnout for their primaries, but come November the godly Republicans will come home and the Democrat votes won’t even come to half of the Republican votes.
Its just nice of all those states to give us Republicans a say in who the Democrats run. Kind of like being allowed to pick who you are going to fight. Me, I would go for the midget in a wheelchair. That’s pretty much what the librul Democrats got in this Osama guy. When us godly White Southreners show up at the polls in November, you can bet your paycheck we won’t be punching no screen for one of Those People. Here in GA, it will be about 90-10 for McCain.
The Rev. Huckabee needs to stay in the race. He gives us godly conservatives a way to show we ain’t happy about having our party took away from us by the moderates and libruls. Bunch of Traders. Just because we run up a few trillion in debt and shipped a few million jobs overseas and give the tax cuts to the rich people that pays the taxes in the first place they want to take over.
We’ll never get the 10 Commandments put up everywhere and prayer in schools and abortion outlawed with somebody like McCain on the ticket. We’ll be watching his every move and hounding him every time he trys to get palsy-walsy with the librul Democrats. Then we’ll take over again in four years by electing the Rev. Huckabee as the next President and leader of the party. We may have to wait four years, but we will become a godly Christian country again.

Good Morning. Glenn, Senator Clinton was raised in Illinois, so insulting the good folks of Arkansas in order to take a swipe at her is inaccurate on both sides. Unlike you, mon vieux - perhaps a second cup of coffee is in order?
Senator Clinton’s campaign was over before it started, with the clods starting to fall when she failed to keep the Big Dog on the porch in South Carolina. Smarts and strength of will nothwithstanding, no candidate can be elected nationwide with a negative rating over 50%. Senator Kennedy found that out when he tried and failed to finesse Chappaquiddick in 1980, and his effect on the party was the same as Senator Clinton’s: enough star wattage to discourage more able candidates from running, or undermining lesser-known but more qualified candidates’ campaigns (see Governor Richardson).
Unfortunately, her media appeal having drowned out all but another ‘media-friendly’ candidate, the Democrats are left with a charismatic guy who lacks sufficient experience, either executive, legislative or hard-knuckle political, to win in November. It is now immaterial when Senator Clinton bows out. Her implacable ambition has had its effect, and we’ll have at least four more years of Republican executive power.

Jim, wingnut candidates have been done since the New Hampshire Primaries. Wingers still don’t get it. Mainstream America declared war on the wingwackos and have effectively eliminated you freaks as a voice in the Republican party for decades to come. If George W. Bush accomplihed one thing in 8 years it was to provide the catalyst for the death of the radical wing of the Republican party. VIVE LA BUSH! Real Republicans have said it loudly and clearly. Wingwacks, talibaptist, xenophobes, nativist, bigots, and racists are no longer wanted in the Republican party.

Hillary and Huckabee should both stay on. Keep the arguments going - educate the American people to both sides of the issues. Sad to say, but so should Ron Paul stay on. He would never get elected, but he made us stop and think. Limited government is the best government. If either the Dems and Pubs can actually accomplish that, I will vote for them.

The point most are missing is that we need to elect someone regardless of race, (that is so old now)that is not as influenced by the lobbyist. Sure he has some but it’s not as severe as it is now. Bush took care of his friends by increasing gas prices for us poor folk that have to drive everywhere to work, take our children places and still have to put food on the table. So when I pull up to the pump, there goes that Friday/Saturday night out with the kids. What I don’t get is how can you people not focus on all the crap that has been a result of the GOP’s actions and not say, hey, something just might be wrong here or am I the only parent in this country that can’t occassionaly spurge for his family because of the high gas prices, living in a neighborhood with foreclosed homes and high prices for the basics. Is it me or what?

If Hillary Clinton cared at all about her party, she would be dropping out of the race this morning. Instead, we will be treated to some party-splitting shenigans at the convention—an effort to get the disqualified delegates from Michigan and Florida seated, accompanied by an effort to allow the superdelegates to assure her nomination.
I agree with Shar, and I’ll say it for the fourth time in the past six months: no candidate with a 50% negative rating can hope to win the presidency. If Hillary continues with her little game, she will cripple her party and drive independents and many moderate Democrats to vote for McCain. Hillary is like the proverbial ghost—she’s dead, but she either doesn’t understand that or else she chooses to ignore it.
Meantime, McCain will have plenty of time to consolidate his party and gain national support while Hillary is gumming up the works on the Democratic side.

I feel sorry for you. You’re part of the dependent Democrat class who believes a single individual (President Bush) can set gasoline prices. The concepts of world markets and world demand elude you. That most of the oil reserves are not held by U.S.-based companies is a foreign concept. That all of Europe pays higher gas prices than the U.S. is a concept unfamiliar to you.
Since you profess to understand how gas prices are set at the pump (by President Bush), take a moment to write on this blog how this takes place. Does Bush actually go to the convenience store and change the numbers himself? Oh, that’s right, VP Cheney and Karl Rove do it—I forgot.

I think any demand or even suggestion for any candidate to drop out is contrary to democracy. It borders on vote suppression, especially for the states that have not yet voted. The demand or suggestion is often made by those whose own candidate is too weak to stand on his own two feet.

Dusty, mainstream Americans and mainstream Republicans declared war on a bunch of imposters that for too many years had successfully hijacked the party from true Republicans. Calling anyone that doesn’t share their hateful views liberals doesn’t work anymore. Real Republicans have taken back their party and put the hijackers in their place. There is no room any longer in the real Republican party for the trash that stole the term “conservative” and used it to foist their messages of hate. Deny that the overwhelming support by real Republicans for the “liberal” John McCain doesn’t say that loudly and clearly. If you don’t understand that Dusty, you don’t understand much of anything. Keep being an apologist and an enabler of right wing trash if you wish. Real Republicans have put you in your proper place. No doubt about that. And by the way Dusty. I am a West Point grad. No, M. Howard, it’s not you, it’s those of us without the insider clout to have wildly benefitted under the worst Administration in the history of this country.
Back in medieval times (that boasted the kind of democracy Dick Cheney has worked so hard to reimpose), there was a strict heirarchy to eating at the lord’s table. Lacking tableward, the lord himself and his cronies ate the richest meat off of “trenchers”, pieces of bread that served as plates. Their most valued associates were given the trencher after the lord was full, and thus could eat whatever meat was left plus the bread and the fat it had absorbed, a valued source of nutrition in those days (thus today’s expression “trencherman” for one who eats bounteously). Everyone else ate enough porridge to survive and scrambled for any scraps that the priviledged might have overlooked.
Loyal Bushies and their enablers, like Haliburton and the oil companies, feast on meat. Trusted and necessary lieutenants, like Blackwater, are the trenchermen. The lack of sufficient porridge for the rest of us is becoming apparent.

Bring back the CCC. I’ll go for that. Put all those government employees to work doing something useful — something other than figuring out new ways to tax us. Put them to work building dams, building bridges, building dam* bridges. Let them build bridges for us tax-paying Americans. Let them build us more bridges to nowhere. That’s where we are going — nowhere. Nowhere except deeper in debt trying to finance these government employees with their plans. Their plans to gather more taxes and tax more people. Tax them for building more bridges and tax them for thinking about building bridges — more bridges to nowhere.

After Obama has been elected, you will eat all of those words. He will not be perfect but will make changes in the system that even a dumb-bell will notice. Just compare the taxes. www.taxfoundation.org/publications/show/151.html If you want to know just how effective the mainstream media is, it is amazing how many people that fall into the categories above think Bush is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever. If any Democrat is elected, ALL of them say they will repeal the Bush tax cuts and a good portion of the people that fall into the categories above can’t wait for it to happen. It’s been over for Hilllary. Ten in a row, and most of those were landslides, across widely separated sections of the country, make it a mathematical certainty that Obama will be the nominee. He’ll sweep on March 4 too.
Obamamania is real. Hillary has been using the phrase “hard work” in her speeches lately. Big mistake. Hard Work is Bush’s description of war, and the phrase he uses ad naseum. Hillary’s writers are simply letting her down. If she cant see how obnoxious the phrase, “hard work” is to America, then she doesn’t deserve the nomination.
McCain has no chance against either Obama or Hillary, but certainly no chance against Obama. He set fire to an entire aircraft carrier, he’s a fool and an idiot, and a clumsy, accident-prone nincompoop, just like all the vestiges of the bush base.

Yes, Hillary should bow out for the sake of the party. There are not many policy differences between Hillary and Obama. The difference is the ability to get the policies executed. As part of a church group, I helped make and serve 2,500 peanut butter and jelly-based meals (recipients got one to eat at the table and one to keep for later, no more), and we didn’t have enough of them to meet demand. Two Party Player- I see where you are going with this. I liked what Ron Paul stood for in a lot of his “limited government” approach. I also liked his way of interpreting and governing BY the Constitution. He simply won’t be elected because there is a snowball’s chance in Hades that the public will elect another Republican from Texas. That being said, he is a totally different camp than Bush is. The difference in the two camps is as clear as the difference between Ronald Reagan’s saying, “Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem,” and George W. Bush’s saying, “We have a responsibility that when somebody hurts, government has got to move.”
That latter is just not true. It’s not Bush’s fault that 09/11 happened. It’s not Bush’s fault that Katrina happened. It IS Bush’s fault for the government response to it.

We should have a nationwide primary day, count the popular vote, then have a run-off between the top two vote getters in each party.
I’m all for it—anything but these caucuses, which blatantly violate the concept of the secret ballot. Since when are mob rule, transportation options, peer pressure, and enthusiasm substitutes for voting?
A national primary and runoff system would also serve to eliminate the cross-voters—people who have no intention of voting for a party in the general election but are allowed to help determine the candidate of that party in the sequential primaries and caucuses. You might as well have the Republican National Convention name the Democratic candidate, and that, I fear, is close to what we have now.

Oh yeah.. one more thing. Last time I checked, we were a REPUBLIC, not a democracy. When we all realize that, things just might flow a little smoother, get a little better, and represent the public’s interests. Chances of that actually happening? About as good as Hillary being on the cover of Maxim magazine.

Huge I proudly hate leftist scum snigger
This is just too freaking funny. As I generously and thoughtfully explained to the knuckle dragging liberal surrender monkey anal warthogs on here a while back. BOTH the far leftist cut and run scum Barak Hussein the magic big eared vacuous cliche spewing half-black negro and Sh!tllary, the vilest most venal lesbovampire lard arsed lying feminazi in US history are merely p!ssing away hundreds of millions of pinKKKO scum donations in an utterly futile race to get fabulously humiliated again by a GOP candidate. Although this time its gonna be by a nasty shameless leftist illegal mexican type leech panderer called McLiar from AZ.
The notion that the US will in November actually vote for a simpering vapid half-black far left PLAGIARISING surrender monkey cut and run elitist is like asserting that Kerry the haughty snotty wind surfing gigolo wasn’t a chickensh!t gutless whiner in Vietnam or that the other beaten by Bush in every single count in FL - the blubbery hectoring rabid eco-wacKKKO nutter and giant energy guzzling hypocrite alBore - would have been an unmitigated disaster Jimmy KKKarter type.
And as Sh!tllary is very very happily now all but finished yet is anally and doggedly doing a truly superb job of exposing just what the remaining worthless hate mongering hate America vermin liberals and demoNcrats are like as serial losers the fantastic fun on cable news is a never ending litany of whining bleating leftist turds.
And as the sullen black cow Mrs Barak Hussein the vapid magic negro has NOT EVER been proud of this country until just the other day - her exact unpatriotic implicitly racebaiting words - we have another snot nosed black bigot like Coretta Scott King to sit and laugh at and heartily despise!!
You just couldn’t make up just how pathetic and worthless and unelectable the demoNcrats are this year if Karl Rove himself had written the plot. All the ephemeral manic magic negro hysteria - after Sh!tllary gleefully instigates the sullen loser convention riot - will just quietly dissipate as the folks in the autumn focus on this far left half-black vapid surrender monkey teleprompter moron. Assisted by the UNASSAILABLE FACT that the magic negro has not ONE major political achievment to its half-black, half mohammedan cliche spewing name!!
And McLiar will replace Bush with likely (at the very least) the senate (if not the house too) back in GOP control as the demoNcrat landslide, happily reminiscent of McGovern/Mondale/Du Carcass like defeat is joyously celebrated by ALL TRUE AMERICANS!!

It doesn’t matter what Hillary says or does. She can even grab the Fla and Mich delegates if she wants. It wont change the reality of how America is speaking out during this astonishing campaign.
We want Obama. I toyed with the idea of a woman as prez, and i like that idea alot, but a black man as prez? That’s even better. It’s justice. The lift it will give black children, who are going to be the future of this country, is promising. I remember how the nuns celebrated when JFK was elected. I was in the 4th grade, and the nuns were exclaiming how great is was to have a catholic in the white house, and how great it is to be catholic, and I was happy and proud and felt my future was unlimited, as a catholic. Why, the nuns even passed around some communion wine, and I got my first buzz. (and I liked it).
This country is not the same country it was for Reagan, or Bush. In 2000, and 2004, we were split in exactly into halves. Half wanted a theocracy under bush, half wanted a republic under Gore, and the other half wanted their mommies. That’s why the Supreme Court was enabled to commit treason to annoint Bush in 2000 and why Ohio republican dirty tricks made the difference in 04. But it doesn’t matter what the GOP does in any state, the America that stepped up in the last few months is The America that will have Obama as it’s representative to the world.

I find it amusing that people are wasting their breath trying to get Huckabee out of the race. Why is it so important for him to get out of the race? What kind of democracy gives people only one choice? Plus, Ron Paul is still in this race, as well, but no one wastes their breath trying to say that Ron Paul needs to get out or he is doing this on an ego trip.
When I think about Huckabee and Paul, I think of two people with strong principles and convictions. They are running to win the chance to be the Presidential nominee, but moreover, they are also providing the voice for those that feel disenfranchised and pushed to the side.
The media perpetuates their own thoughts and depending on the people that are listening, they will either fall in line or vote for their convictions. Huckabee and Paul supporters know why they are voting for their candidates and it is based on where they stand on issues important to them that is being marginalized.
Just because things seem to be sewn up by the first few states does not mean that the states that are voting later don’t have an equal right to vote for who they want without making people fall with party politics. It’s not about what’s best for the party, but what is best for the country.
So if people have strong convictions about who they are voting for whether it is Huckabee, Paul, McCain, Clinton or Obama, then let them stand by their people instead of media trying to skew the results by saying - give up, give in. Why would we want a President that is a quitter and gives up when all odds seem to be against them? I’d rather have one that is resilient and can show that they are able to have grace, but firmness in the midst of seemingly overwhelming odds.

still LMFAO!!!
This is what some putrid puss filled abortion bucket escapee union official said about the big eared vacuous half-black magic negro in WI last night at a Sh!tllary rally for defeat … fawning right in front of the pardon selling Arkansas rapist’s lard arsed lesbian partner.
I have to say though ITS ACTUALLY PRETTY FACTUAL AND VERY ASTUTE … PERFECTLY FAIR COMMENT!!!
But what a truly doltish maggot like name “Buffenbarger” is… sounds like a typical ACLU paedophile’s online id …
This is from a DNCTV blog today!!
Buffenbarger called Obama a “thespian,” and he sarcastically referred to the junior senator from Illinois as a “wunderkind.” He compared Obama to “Janus, the two-faced Roman god of ancient times.” And he pleaded with the crowd to boo Obama’s labor record.
Early in his speech, Buffenbarger asked, “So now we have a decision to make. Will we rely on the Harvard Law Review editor? The silver-tongued orator from Kansas, Hawaii and Illinois? The man in love with the microphone?”
Taking off the gloves, he said, “Barack Obama is no Muhammad Ali. He took a walk every time there was a tough vote in the Illinois State Senate. He took a walk more than a 130 times. That’s what a shadow boxer does. All the right moves. All the right combinations. All the right footwork. But he never steps into the ring.”
But it was Obama supporters for whom Buffenbarger saved his most vitriolic contempt, and he proved that the Democratic Party’s coalition is nothing if not fragile. Channeling Howard Beale from the movie “Network,” he yelled into the microphone, “Give me a break! I’ve got news for all the latte-drinking, Prius- driving, Birkenstock-wearing, trust fund babies crowding in to hear him speak! This guy won’t last a round against the Republican attack machine. He’s a poet, not a fighter.”

I have my finger on the pulse of real americans. I know the trend people are feeling before they feel it themselves. Why? How? Because I AM America. I never sold out. I talk to people as equals. I know what she’s feeling cause I feel it, and I know how to form the language that makes her feel good, and makes her understand that we’re all in this together as real americans, not an elite minority of fatbellies, pirates and evangelical jackals.

How could Hillary have won? First, she should have sent Bill and Chelsea on an around the world tour for peace or to save the baby seals, or fight aids, or whatever, but last fall, she should have kissed him goodbye.
Then, all alone, she should have stayed on message: healthcare, education, and attacked bush’s eight years hard and heavy, and exposed some of the more aggregious acts of evil that horrid man perpetrated on the american people.
But, the way America is shouting Obama, and they’re shouting it out their windows, I dont know if Hillary could have done anything right to win

Huckabee should get out of the race!
Many would question whether Mike Huckabee is a true conservative; I would question whether he is even a true CHRISTIAN! For an ex-Baptist preacher, the man sure has a potty mouth! “You want to come tell us what to do with the flag, we’d tell them what to do with the pole”, said Mike Huckabee on January 17, 2008, in the lead up to the South Carolina primary on the issue of the Confederate flag. www.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Huckabee
Mike Huckabee says he is for family values despite the risqué music/song lyrics used by Huckabee and his band, Capitol Offense. Imagine the pastor of your church singing H*y Tonk Woman or Devil With a Blue Dress (song lyrics would be offensive to most conservatives). www.irdial.com/blogdial/?p=909
Huckabee has a history of corruption and lack of ethics and is one of two republican presidential candidates on the list of TOP TEN MOST CORRUPT POLITICIANS of 2007. Hillary Clinton is #1 and Huckabee #6 on the list. www.judicialwatch.org/judicial-watch-announces-list-washington-s-ten-most-wanted-corrupt- politicians-2007
One example, after being married for 30 years, Huckabee set up a WEDDING registry at Target for him and his wife to receive gifts for their house. The wedding registry was a way to avoid ethics laws prohibiting gifts to politicians.
Huckabee raised a son who stoned and hung a dog to death. David was fired as a Boy Scout’s counselor for disobeying the “Be Kind” scout’s creed . Daddy Huck hindered the police investigation of David for animal cruelty. This should bring pause to anyone thinking of voting for Huckabee. Family animal cruelty issues often times indicate other problems as well. www.newsweek.com/id/78241
Mike Huckabee does not appear to have good judgment. He pressured the Arkansas Parole Board to free a convicted rapist, Wayne Dumond — who then moved to Missouri and raped and killed two more women. Worse yet, he lies to this day about it, denying he had a role. Huckabee’s former lawyer — referred to reporters by Huckabee’s own campaign, to support his story — actually said that the governor called Dumond’s sentence “outlandish” and “way out of line”, and that Huckabee pushed for Dumond’s release. Huckabee refuses to release the documents from his office concerning the case. A former aide has said that Huckabee’s staff discussed how to make sure that documents about the case, especially the letters from other Dumond victims, could be kept secret. When he left the governor’s office, Huckabee spent the entire governor’s emergency budget - set aside for hurricanes, tornadoes and the like — destroying the hard drives of 100 computers in the governor’s office. www.realchange.org/huckabee.htm
Huckabee commuted or pardoned over 669 prisoners, including 12 murderers — 10 times as many as Bill Clinton did over 9 years, and more than all of the larger states surrounding Arkansas put together — as long as they claimed to be born-again Christians, or worked at the governor’s mansion, or played in the prison band. www.realchange.org/huckabee.htm
Huckabee could never win in a general election. Imagine his Confederate flag flap being played over and over in the Dem’s TV ads. And he wants to amend the Constitution to his religious agenda. This would alienate many moderates and independents. Americans don’t want to be ruled by an extreme religious leader. Huckabee underperformed in every state that didn’t have a strong base of evangelicals, even loosing to Ron Paul in five of those states.
Keep in mind Huckabee may be an ex-preacher but ACTIONS ALWAYS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS! Please do your homework if you’re thinking of voting for the smooth talking Huckaphony!

Huckabee needs to quit. He’s irrelevant. The only demographic that he can speak to is fundamentalist Evangelical Christians, IMO.
He says he’s only in it for the people but I beg to differ. Huckabee’s ego is HUGE! He can’t admit when he’s wrong and every statement out of the guy’s mouth is like a sales pitch from a used car salesman (or a preacher - is there a difference?)
Huckabee spends most of his verbal energy on platitudes that speak to everyone’s desire for the ideal but he’s not a serious contender.
The reality is that he doesn’t have a better offer yet. He’ll be unemployed after he quits and the thought of him not having a national platform is too hard for him to face right now.

I am running way late today, Jim.
It may well be that we are on the verge of a “new day” in America. It may not be a “great” day. It may not even be a “good” day. But I see the status quo…the “liberalism of Hillary” and the “corporatism of Romney”…being threatened. What replaces it…the “ultra-globalism of Obama” or the “maverick approach of McCain” may not be any better, but it da*n well is going to be “change”!
If you end up not liking it, blame Georgie W. Bush. He lied his way into office claiming to be a “conservative”. He them proceeded to spend more money…not even counting the expense of the Iraq War…than any President since World War II. He violated his oath of office by failing to defend the southern border of the United State from illegal immigration, and he aped-up with Kennedy and McCain to try to allow the cheap illegal labor force to continue to exist with little or no sanction. What a piece of work this man was. January 20, 2009 can’t come too soon!

It looks like the 50% of America that vehemently dislikes the Clintons have spoken over the last few weeks. What, everyone thought the Clintons were so loved around this nation or something? Well, maybe to the 42% that voted for Bill in 1992 did.
The white males have spoken; the minorities have spoken; the poor and working class have spoken. Obama is the man. Both Clintons are heavy baggage to the Dem party, and if the Dem party thought ahead (they never do), they’d cleanse themselves once and for all of the Clintons and really move on. Then, we can get down to business and expose Obama for what he truly stands for.
On another note, I always knew Google was run by a bunch of extremist left wing kooks. They are well known for posting a modified Google logos with holiday reference symbols, even one about the Chinese New Year, but didn’t do anything for President’s Day. CHICAGO — A cluster of cramped cubicles, tucked away in a rear corner of Senator Barack Obama’s campaign headquarters here, serves as the heart of a fund-raising machine that has reshaped the calculus of the 2008 election.
Mr. Obama’s finance director, Julianna Smoot, who has helped him raise more than $150 million so far, does not even have her own office. A Ping-Pong table is the gathering spot for Friday lunches for her team.
The setting, which has the feel of an Internet start-up, is emblematic of how Mr. Obama, of Illinois, has been able to raise so much money. On Wednesday, the Obama campaign will report to the Federal Election Commission that it collected $36 million in January — $4 million more than campaign officials had previously estimated — an unprecedented feat for a single month in American politics that was powered overwhelmingly by small online donations. That dwarfed the $13.5 million in January that Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York is expected to report Wednesday and the $12 million Senator John McCain’s campaign said he brought in for the month.
Mr. Obama’s startling success, however, has also now put him on the spot, tempting him to back away from indications he gave last year that he would agree to accept public financing in the general election if the Republican nominee did the same. The hesitation has given Mr. McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee whose advisers concede he would most likely fall far short of Mr. Obama’s fund-raising for the general election, fodder for a series of attacks.
“This type of backpedaling and waffling isn’t what inspired millions of people to invest in Senator Obama’s candidacy,” said Jill Hazelbaker, a spokeswoman for Mr. McCain.
Under rules of public financing, a candidate has access to $85 million from a taxpayer-financed fund for the general election, a substantial amount to spend for the roughly two months after this year’s conventions. But this election cycle has shattered fund-raising and spending records and upended expectations.
The details of Mr. Obama’s January fund-raising illustrate just how much his campaign has been able to chart a new path for the presidential race. He brought in $28 million online, with 90 percent of those transactions coming from people who donated $100 or less, and 40 percent from donors who gave $25 or less, suggesting that these contributors could be tapped for more. (Donors are limited to giving $2,300 per candidate during the primary season.) More than 200,000 of the campaign’s nearly 300,000 donors in January were first-time givers to Mr. Obama.
The campaign’s success over the Internet has freed Mr. Obama from having to take valuable time off the trail for fund-raising events for major donors — just $4 million in January came from traditional fund-raisers.
“We know we don’t have to get him in front of as many major donors now,” Ms. Smoot said.
Mr. Obama has done just a few traditional fund-raising events in January and none in February, in contrast to the Clinton campaign, which has been keeping up a steady diet of fund-raisers with either Mrs. Clinton or her husband, former President Bill Clinton.
Mrs. Clinton’s operation has also been pushing to improve its efforts online, with her campaign saying Tuesday that it brought in $15 million over the Internet in February, with donations jumping after news broke that she had lent $5 million to her campaign.
Mr. Obama’s January surge surprised even members of his finance team. When Meaghan Burdick, who works on Mr. Obama’s online fund-raising efforts with Joe Rospars, the campaign’s director of new media, drew up a set of projections in December, she came up with three possibilities for January in the event Mr. Obama won Iowa, finished second or third, with a victory expected to draw $10 million to $15 million over the Internet.
At the center of the Obama campaign’s online effort is an e-mail list, which now numbers in the millions but started out with fewer than 50,000, culled mostly from Mr. Obama’s Senate run.
That list grew as Mr. Obama’s many rallies drew thousands of people, where attendees gave their e-mail addresses to the campaign, as well as other initiatives to draw more people into the campaign’s orbit.
But tapping small-money donors can be a balancing act. Campaign officials say they believe they have gotten better at calibrating efforts at making sales pitches for cash while also trying to encourage people to participate in other ways. As a result, a recent e-mail message asked supporters to write letters to superdelegates making their case for Mr. Obama.
The campaign’s online donors have also come to form the backbone of its vaunted grass-roots operation across the country, with information about new donors quickly transmitted to organizers on the ground to enlist for phone banks and other volunteer efforts.
“We want to make sure that the experience people have with us is not solely around money,” said David Plouffe, Mr. Obama’s campaign manager.
After Mr. Obama’s victory in Iowa, the campaign collected $2.8 million online. But it was the two days after Mr. Obama’s stunning loss to Mrs. Clinton in New Hampshire that campaign officials point to as when they began to realize they were in for an extraordinary month.
On the evening of the primary, Mr. Obama’s finance staff settled in to watch the results from their cubicles. When the television networks called the race for Mrs. Clinton, their spirits sagged. But Ms. Burdick was staring at her laptop, watching a graph showing how much money was coming into the Obama campaign over the Internet. Within minutes, it was shooting upward.
“This is crazy,” Ms. Burdick said, calling over to two of her colleagues sitting near her.
Within three hours, the campaign had cleared $500,000. In the morning, when Ms. Burdick checked again, the campaign had raised $750,000. Over the course of two days, Mr. Obama collected $4.4 million online.
The campaign sent out an e-mail message from Mr. Obama to donors the morning after the New Hampshire defeat.
“I know you just made a donation, but we are about to enter the most decisive period of the campaign,” he said, signing his name at the end, “Thank you, Barack.”
In Birmingham, Ala., Matthew Lane, 38, logged into his e-mail and received that message. Although he earns less than $20,000 a year as a storyteller in public libraries and as a freelance writer, he decided to give $25 on top of a few small contributions he had made dating to March 2007.
“The campaign has been so incredibly grass-roots, it does sort of feel like you are making a difference,” Mr. Lane said, “even in giving in small increments like that.”
And this month, after the Feb. 5 primaries, Mr. Lane decided to tack on another $25 donation.

Hey, I minored in Psyche.
Look at Wooten’s insights today: He first says that Hillary’s attacks have had an impact, and points to a gallup poll that has a 7 point obama lead shaved down to 1 point, and then the real america speaks and it’s an obama landslide. Polls are valid for fifteen seconds.
Dont believe in gallup polls, believe in the american people when they ring the bell of freedom and yes, that bell of the free tolls for thee 2, (yes, it even rings 4 a Saudi lovin’ diehard like you).
Cause Obama’s America is every american’s america, (not just foreign lobbyists) and now it’s on to Ohio and we’ll win there!!

Teamsters Union to Endorse Barack Obama
By JESSE J. HOLLAND
WASHINGTON (AP) — Sen. Barack Obama is slated to pick up the endorsement of the powerful Teamsters, the second major union endorsement for the Democratic front-runner in a week, union officials told The Associated Press on Wednesday.
Obama will meet with Teamster President James P. Hoffa in Austin, Texas, on Wednesday. The endorsement is expected to come soon thereafter, said the officials, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the planned formal announcement.
The Teamsters represent 1.4 million members.
Union support will be key in the Democratic primaries in the next few weeks, particularly in Ohio on March 4 and Pennsylvania on April 22. Ohio and Pennsylvania have some of the nation’s largest number of union workers, with more than 15 percent of the workforce unionized in Pennsylvania and just over 14 percent in Ohio.
The endorsement from the Teamsters is Obama’s third from organized labor in a week. The 1.9-million member Service Employees International Union endorsed the Illinois senator last Friday, and the smaller United Food and Commercial Workers endorsed him last Thursday.
Obama also has two AFL-CIO unions in his corner in the Transport Workers Union and the National Weather Service Employees Organization. And with a Teamsters endorsement, he will have four Change To Win unions in his corner: the Teamsters, SEIU, the United Food and Commercial Workers and UNITE HERE, who gave the Illinois senator his first national endorsement from a union.

By all means yes, Hillary, do have your husband shut you up, after he himself shuts up. And you, Barry, keep talking. Your wife too.
We want everyone to read this statement: “For the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country.” We want them to read this statement, and approve it, and adopt it, and recite it. Twice. In public. We want them to try to say these words right now, in the privacy of their own cyberspace.
We want them to see how it feels to say such words, even when others do not hear them. We want them to see whether they honestly mean anything good, to anyone other than a postsecondary Marxist filled with generosity by her conviction that her country, at long last, wishes to establish Socialism.
We want her husband to put substance to his vaporous speeches, and to recite at great length the trillion-dollar shopping list of items he will give unto his American People at no cost other than wealth redistribution on a massive scale. We want him to explain how the essence of his hope is that this, yea even this very redistributionist gospel, will be preached in every hamlet and metropolis, until all the nation is united.
Keep talking.
Preferably for 45-minutes at a stretch.

Yesterday, the people of Wisconsin voted overwhelmingly in favor of a new kind of politics.
They rejected an onslaught of negative attacks and attempts to distract them from the common concerns we all have about the direction of our country.
No doubt we’ll hear much more of these attacks and distractions in the days to come.
But the noise of these tired, old political games will not drown out the voices of millions calling for change.
You can help bring a new voice to our political process. By giving through our matching program, you will double the impact of someone giving for the first time this year.
We’re nearing our goal of 500,000 people giving so far in 2008. You’ve already donated to this campaign — but now you can help push us over the top and bring in someone new.

We won’t know until late tonight the results of today’s Hawaii caucus, but we’ll let you know how that turns out tomorrow.

Thank you for making this possible,

Apocolypse, may I interrupt your campaigning and soliciting for a little breakdown?
(1) This is a Georgia-based blog. We’ve already voted in our primary. Obama already took the state’s delegates. I need my money right now, thanks. (2) Contrary to the corporate Republican media, MOST Democrats are not all that divided. We were thrilled with the entire field of candidates, and will vote for our nominee no matter who it is. WHY are you creating more discord where it’s neither necessary or helpful? (3) I will vote for Obama, but he would have gone a lot farther toward being “my hero” had he not allowed his people to twist some BS in SC and accuse the Clintons of being racist. That was a racist thing to do, IMO, because no one really believes they are unless they WANT to believe that, and it was done by his people to get votes there… period. (Carnies blow up and twist balloons and call them giraffes, but they’re not giraffes, they’re just bits of rubber blown up and twisted. Same thing.) (4) Do you really think you’re putting your talents to their best use right now? UNITY is a two-way street, Dude. Think about it. Thanks for listening.

Jackie - you’re not paying attention. The reason the “numbers” were large in the primary is that many of us conservatives voted in the Democrap primary so that we could throw the election and get in the candidate that is easiest for the Republicans to beat in November. We have no intent of voting for the Democraps in November - you’ll see a big change in the numbers then.

Sometimes it’s interesting, sometimes not, that Political Foreskin never asks someone whether he is gay, but instead labels him as such as though the label were the ultimate insult. For him the worst thing in the world would be a Jewish homosexual.
I’m guessing that most gay Jewish American men probably are pretty smart fellows—-an amalgam of stereotypes, perhaps, but if so then also a fairly educated sociological guess. I’d further speculate that very few of them would be, like PoFo, stupid enough or deceitful enough not to recognize that the reason for Barack Obama’s elusiveness is that he and his wife are arch-redistributionists several degrees to the left of the Left Wing of the Democratic Party.
Yeah, they’d probably get that fact in a heartbeat. They’re in the main pretty good at seeing through people’s artifices.

JK, may I interrupt your unwarranted critique of my posts for a little breakdown?
(1)Obviously you should know that I am aware of where this blog is geographically located. Therefore this question should enter your mind: Why is he blogging here? I’m glad you asked JK. The reason is there are a lot of people here who claim to not know Obama’s specific positions and, assuming you’ve seen my past posts, I have provided them. This is necessary so that they will not be armed with that excuse when we approach the general election. Also, there are a lot of people including myself that are aware that since money doesn’t grow on trees, we will continue to put action with our support.(2)I agree that Clinton’s statements weren’t racist, but it was the media who spearheaded that accusation not the Obama camp. They may have mentioned it, but it was MSNBC,CNN, and Fox news who were responsible for most of those charges.
Finally, you are absolutely correct. Unity is a two way street, so why don’t you lay off attacking me in the presence of the opposition so that our unity will be evident.
Thanks for listening.

Here’s an interesting note from the latest ARG poll:
George W. Bush’s overall job approval rating has dropped to a new low in American Research Group polling as 78% of Americans say that the national economy is getting worse according to the latest survey from the American Research Group.
Among all Americans, 19% approve of the way Bush is handling his job as president and 77% disapprove.
I don’t think any Pres has ever hit as low as 19% (maybe Nixon). Yikes. This can’t be good news for McCain, since he is running as the more-of-the-same candidate.

Barack Obama’s Plan Protecting Our Chemical Plants
Chemical plants are attractive terrorist targets because they are often located near cities, are relatively easy to attack, and contain multi-ton quantities of hazardous chemicals. While a number of plants have taken voluntary steps to improve security, there are still major gaps; and the federal government has never established meaningful, permanent security regulations. Senator Obama worked with Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) to introduce comprehensive chemical plant security legislation that would establish a clear set of federal regulations that all plants must follow. The bill requires chemical facilities to enhance security, including improving barriers, containment, mitigation, and safety training, and, where possible, using safer technology, such as less toxic chemicals.
Keeping Track of Spent Nuclear Fuel The nation has 103 operating nuclear power plants which annually produce over 2,000 metric tons of spent fuel that remains highly radioactive for many years. A report by the Government Accountability Office found inadequate tracking and security for spent nuclear fuel rods. Nuclear plants in Connecticut, Vermont and California have reported missing spent fuel in the last five years. Senator Obama introduced legislation to establish guidelines for tracking, controlling, and accounting for spent fuel at nuclear power plants.
Evacuating Special Needs Population in Emergencies One of the most devastating aspects of Hurricane Katrina is that most of the stranded victims were society’s most vulnerable members - low-income families, the elderly, the homeless, and disabled Americans. Too many states and cities do not have adequate plans in place to care for special-needs populations. Senator Obama introduced and passed legislation to require mandatory planning for evacuating people with special needs.
Reuniting Families After Emergencies After Hurricane Katrina, thousands of people struggled to contact family and friends following evacuation. Evacuees were forced to comb through dozens of databases in an effort to reconnect with loved ones. Senator Obama introduced and passed legislation to create a centralized, federal database to allow individuals displaced by an emergency to call one phone number or go to one website and post their location and condition. Family members and law enforcement officials would be able to use this same secure, centralized system to check the status of missing loved ones.
Keeping Our Drinking Water Safe There are almost 170,000 public water systems in the United States. An attack on a drinking water system could contaminate or disrupt water service, thereby disrupting society, impacting human health and compromising critical activities such as fire protection. Senator Obama introduced legislation to provide $37.5 million over 5 years for drinking water systems to upgrade their monitoring and security efforts.
Protecting the Public from Radioactive Releases Following reports that nuclear power plants in Illinois did not promptly notify local communities that tritium – a byproduct of nuclear generation – had leaked into the groundwater, Senator Obama introduced legislation to require nuclear plants to inform state and local officials if there is an unintentional leak of a radioactive substance. Chronic exposure to high levels of tritium can increase the risk of cancer, birth defects and genetic damage.
Barack Obama’s Record There have been tritium leaks at other nuclear plants, though none so extensive as at Braidwood. The uproar over Braidwood prompted the Nuclear Energy Institute to outline a voluntary policy for monitoring tritium leaks and reporting such incidents. Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) has vowed to continue to push for federal legislation that requires reporting. “The nuclear industry already had a voluntary policy, and it hasn’t worked,” he said. Exelon’s past actions have helped to prove his point.

America’s number one enemy is not Al Qaeda, but the commercial media, because those who control the media place making money above the welfare of the country. They turn the election into entertainment by trying to reduce the contest to two candidates as fast as possible. They assume that those with the most name recognition and the most money should be the favorites. But a national election is about leadership ability and the future of the country, not who is best looking or who can raise the most money. I would take the job of informing the public away from the commercial media and put it the hands of patriots who are tied neither to the establishment nor anti-establishment groups. Then America might get the leadership it needs to survive in today’s world.

Regarding the election, you sound like you KNOW the electoral process will be hacked and defrauded again. Is the Alabama Sec. of State also the Elect McCain chairperson this year, as was the case in Florida 2000 and Ohio 2004? Or is the hacking at a higher level this year?
You’re right; if McCain wins I will never believe a fair vote is possible in the United States of America. As it is with our bogus delegate primary system and electoral college, I believe “democracy” really is only an illusion we cling to. Money still buys, owns, and buries the truth in America.

I love the backward names the right-wing loons cook up for themselves: “Realist,” “The Truth,” and so on. I guess they were inspired by the example of their lying masters: “Clear Skies, Iraqi Freedom, Healthy Forests….”
Funny stuff. Ultimately useless, of course, since they can only win in the imaginary world they’ve cooked up—the one where everybody admires Bush, and the Iraq War made us safer, and America isn’t going to vote overwhelmingly Democratic this November.
Let’s tiptoe away and leave them to their childish daydreams, shall we? No need to spoil their fun just yet.

Well, Bernanke finally admits that unemployment is getting worse and inflation is going up. Too bad he can’t see that he should have left things alone. All that easy money he has been throwing out is being used to buy commodities and run up prices. That’s right. Bernanke’s policy is making things worse. People are still losing jobs, house values are still going down, foreclosures are still going up, credit is even less available and now we have higher inflation on top of that. I know. Let’s borrow more money and give everyone a rebate of $600. Wow. Doesn’t that make everything all better. The only thing we need to do now is raise taxes to bail ourselves out of this mess.

I’m a staunch Huck supporter and want him to stay in until the convention, whether he gets the nomination or not, he has proven to be a man of integrity and a true conservative. He is running to give the voters a choice and a voice.
Think how well he did with EVERYONE (media, Republican elites, talk radio, even some Christian leaders like Robertson)against him. He was a late bloomer that didn’t get the recognition he needed until it was too late. Everyone already had made up their minds of who to endorse, and mislabeled him a “liberal” early on. In 2012, it will be a different story.
McCain is going to get smashed in the general. He is too moderate/liberal and provides hardly any contrast on issues with the Dems. Plus, he has the personality of a dead person. McCain would do well for himself to make Mike his running mate. That would be his only way to win. Otherwise, I’m writing in Huckabee for the general.
GO HUCK IN TEXAS and OHIO! Send McCain a message!!

The only reason Mike Huckabee is still in this race, is because over 1/3 of Republican voters believe in him and want their voices heard.
Isn’t it odd that he had absolutely no National Media hype, GOP support or Wall Street money telling us how to vote, going into Wisconsin, yet he was still able to get 37% of the vote. That’s nothing short of a MIRACLE. The average American is speaking through Mike Huckabee. Just think if he actually did get some support from the big wigs who think they can buy America.
The Republican Party was founded in 1854 to abolish Slavery, and it needs to get back to it’s roots and values for us to become united again.

DavidE7,
At least a couple of us agree with you that the media are a clear and present danger, a fact made manifest in this already interminable election cycle. Yesterday we were saying that media people also are expressing your concern, from within their own weird bubbles. Any ideas as to what to do about it, other than to find a buyer & nutcutter for the DNC-AJC?

When are Obama’s supporters going to wake up and realize he’s just pretty words, with nothing to back it up? The guy’s running a sunshine and lollipops campaign. I couldn’t be less an evangelical- I am voting for Huckabee because of the FairTax, and because he actually has a solid plan to rid this country of illegal aliens.

Muqtadar El Sadr, the Shiite cleric that controls the Madr Army, has threatened to break the 6 month ceasefire in Iraq. The number of US fatalities are expected to rise and the US military has spent more than 5 years “training” the Iraqi military. The surge is not working and we spend close to $38 Million per second in that country. We are faced with a faltering economy and rising unemployment and Dubya protests that the House will not give him retroactive immunity to cover his crimes, so the terrorists are coming to get us. Afghanistan, is getting ready to boil over; Pakistan is slowly moving Musharref out of the picture. All the missteps by our government are starting to create major problems for us. By the way, all monies borrowed from China goes to build their military. Is that our next axis-of-evil?
By Chris Taylor
February 20, 2008 5:54 PM | Link to this
Jackie, the next “axis-of-evil” is already here. Their names rhyme with Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
We need a Commander-In-Chief to win this war and come home honorably; not a Dem who’d rush the troops home and leave Iraq and Afghanistan a mess. This would absolutely dishonor the troops who have already died for the cause.
I’ve flown missions in both Afghanistan and Iraq. I know first-hand what we are doing there. It is my job to support our ground troops and keep them safe, including those I know and serve with. (I myself will be doing a ground tour for a year). It is a noble campaign (what we are doing there) and it’s the troops out there dieing to keep you free to voice your flawed positions.
Freedom isn’t free! Troops are dieing and you are more worried about our financial losses?!

Yep, get, if W plunges another four or five points, he’ll be right down there with Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic House.
Jackie,
I sure hope China is the regarded as our enemy. They aim to take us. And their spying on our shores and interference in our affairs has been out of hand for too long.
Not only the financing we get from China, but also a portion of the proceeds from the purchase of all Chinese goods, goes to feeding development and deployment of countermeasures over against our national defenses. The country is set up as an organized crime racket, with the “mob” being the military junta that runs the country with its minions, in uniform and in mufti, who among other things sit as plants on every board of every business. It’s a protection racket, a shakedown.
Only in the Chinese racket the U.S. loses its protections.
I vote for whichever candidate shows the most hatred for those murderous pigs who are desolating that great culture and making war on freedom wherever they find it. I also think the U.S. government should confiscate the passports of people like Haig, Kissinger and GHW Bush, who flack for the junta as though it were General Motors.

Well said, as usual Glenn. You drive the moonbats batty. They keep getting more vitriolic. You would think winning congress in 2006 would have calmed them down. Apparently not. They are more angry and vitriolic than ever. You regurgitate the standard wingnut talking points very nicely. How do you keep the koolaid down when you puke up the rest of that cr@p?
As with the GOP, I find no reason to respect a person just because they serve in the military. As such, I am wearing a purple bandaid in your honor and smirking at your service. I will also be launching a Keyboard Kommando investigation into your actual exploits in the Iraq and Afghan theatres, as I am certain that your story does not add up. Something about the kerning of the typeface in your post makes me most suspicious. How dare you presume to speak for Our Brave Men and Women in harm’s way, you make believe soldier.
That’s the way the wingnuts play it. Good for goose and gander, eh guys?

TAFKAH,
Here’s a bit more for you to chew on to help shut you up:
As for aircrew doing ground missions; it is a reality. The program is called Individual Augmentation. It basically takes people from all services out of their normal jobs, retrains them to a specific job set to perform 6 months to a year in various places, but mostly Iraq. Members can volunteer or be volunteered, but it is happening. Many from my squadron from the officer to the enlisted are participating. This is to help spread the Army/Marine Corps with low manning.
If physically able and not too old, why don’t you join and help the cause?
