Children’s health care, and the deceit
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Thinking Right’s weekend free-for-all. Pick a topic:
• Immediately after Congress passed expansion of a children’s health insurance entitlement, the interest groups took to the cameras. Up promptly was a 9-year-old Baltimore girl “who survived brain injuries from a car accident.” Interesting that none of those paraded before the cameras were 25-year-olds declared to be “children” for eligibility’s sake. You’re not likely to see illegals before the cameras, either, though they too could be beneficiaries.
• You won’t hear this in advocates’ press conferences either, but the bill projects the cost as being $14.25 billion in the first six months of 2012, before “dropping” to $1.75 billion in the second six months. Deceit, smoke and mirrors. No wonder 89 percent of Americans think Congress is the pits.
• U.S. Rep. Jim Marshall (D-Macon) appears to have learned the Max Cleland lesson: Go to Washington, vote as a central-casting national Democrat and Georgians will bring you home. Marshall was the only Georgia Democrat to vote against the big-dollar expansion of the campaign-fodder health insurance entitlement. He’s in a competitive district.
• United Auto Workers President Ron Gettelfinger is the most interesting figure in the American labor movement. One day he may rank among its giants. In an industry on the brink and locked in global competition that could devour both company and jobs, the Gettelfinger-led UAW negotiated a bold deal with GM on retiree health care that could be a major turning point toward revival for both company and union.
• Half an hour before U.S. Rep. David Scott (D-Atlanta) voted for the resolution condemning MoveOn.org for the “General Betray Us” newspaper ad, he voted against it in committee. He was one of 11 John Kerry Dems who were against it before they were for it.
• Thinking Right’s Special “Murder and mayhem are on the rise” edition: My favorite prison sentence of the week: Phillip E. Hill, a white-collar criminal, was sentenced by a federal judge to 28 years in prison and ordered to pay more than $41 million in restitution for running a massive mortgage scheme that generated $112 million in fraudulent loans. His take from the scheme, involving inflated sales prices to straw borrowers who paid him kickback, was $14 million. If my band of right-wingers need to work a few hours overtime to pay for his prison upkeep, send the bill. I hate armed robbers, child abusers and white-collar crooks. Armed robbers have made up their minds that they’ll kill you before they walk in the door.
• Good riddance, too, to Marla Nicole Wells of Union City, given 30 months and a $220,000 fine for recruiting and helping others to file false tax returns, for which she netted $225,597, money she used to buy a Mercedes.
• Substitute the language in O.J.’s Las Vegas words of rage and think of wife Nichole and Ron Goldman: “Think you can’t steal my s—- and sell it?” Methinks this is a guy who knew he belonged in jail, and has found a way to get there.
• Ah. So now we know the money source of Hillary’s campaign sugar-daddy, Norman Hsu. Federal officials in New York charged him with operating a massive Ponzi scheme that swindled at least $60 million from investors nationwide. Hillary’s returning the $850,000 Hsu raised. If convicted, he could do 20 in the slammer. Unless, of course, he’s pardoned.
• More good news on the legal front: Melvyn Weiss, co-founder of a New York law firm that collected $250 million from filing class-action lawsuits against big corporations, has been indicted on charges of conspiring to pay kickbacks to people who agreed to be plaintiffs. He was added to an existing indictment of his firm and other lawyers.
• A motorcyclist, with passenger, is clocked at 135 mph on Ga. 400. We don’t need hate-crime sentence multipliers. We need stupid-and-reckless multipliers. This one would fetch a lifetime motorcycling ban. And why do we have non-racing motorcycles capable of 135 mph speeds? My liberal, sensitive side would impose a $100 per mile buyer’s tax on every mph capacity beyond 85.
• No more Michael Vick stories for me. Too depressing. I hate stories, even in the movies, that force me to bear witness to a talented or promising individual’s self-destruction.

Jim and his band of conservative ladies were all outraged - OUTRAGED - over the MoveOn ad last week. I wonder if they will be as furious with Limbaugh, who has opined that any soldier who disagrees with him is “phony”. Including, of course, a few who gave their lives in Iraq.
No? You mean Republicans are simply nasty political opportunists? Who’d have thought it?

Right where your goddess hillary and her cheating husband thought they were? Oh yeah, we forgot about the fact that the Dems, reading the same reports as the President and independently coming to the same conclusion, thought Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. Were they too spineless to question the president or were they the victims of bad intelligence (a system established by that cheating husband) just like the prez?

Greetings, Satanic Woo-ten Klanners, and decent folk, it is We your Pope. To Our many followers, thank you for your prayers and concerns, it is not easy being a spiritual leader in a time of such great deception and epidemic stupidity. But We are fine, so We pray today for the incarceration of all of America’s white collar criminals, starting with the Chickenhawk-in-Chief, a chimpanzee residing at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington DC.

Newt Ginrich claims that he will base his prez-run in Cobb County, but will reside in Virginia. “I want to stay very active on national security. I live 11 minutes from the CIA. I live 18 minutes from the Pentagon. I spend 40 percent of my time on naitional security.”
Newt should live in virginia, cause there he lives only 2 minutes from a McD’s, four minutes from a dunkin donuts, and three+1/2 minutes from an all-U-can-snarf chinese buffet megaplex. (where he spends the other 60 percent of his time.)
See? We pray that Newt gets the funding to run for prez. The jokes write themselves, and I nominate him for the best set-up man in the biz.
Go newt! WE love you, Newt! Newt ‘08.
BTW: newt’s claim of juxtoposition to CIA and Pentagon headquarters is funny by itself. “I live four minutes from a police station, two minutes from a firehouse, and only 30 seconds from a phone, so I should be president of the neighborhood watch!!!!”
See? It’s almost no fun it’s so easy.

You won’t hear this in Iraq war lovers’ conferences either, but Bush projected the cost as being $147.25 billion in 2008, then “added” 47 billion more nine months later. Deceit, smoke and mirrors. No wonder 70 percent of Americans think Bush is the pits.
The Bush administration said earlier this year that it probably would need $147.5 billion for 2008, but Pentagon officials now say that and $47 billion more will be required. Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates and other officials are to formally present the full request at a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing Wednesday.

Good morning all. Thanks to Jim Marshall, for restoring my faith in the existence of centrist Democrats. I had begun to believe they were in a class with Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy. Closely related, the WSJ has a shocking and totally-appropriate praise for Hillary today, http://www.opinionjournal.com/editorial/feature.html?id=110010664
Jim’s rant on armed robbers explains why I support death penalty for them, and for almost no other. Armed robbery is never a crime of passion or impulse or expediency. I have some empathy for second-degree murderers (ok, maybe not much), much more for nonviolent thieves; none for armed robbers.
I wish I had conceived Jim’s punch line on the boy named Hsu. But I disagree with our guru on the motorcycles essay; Darwin award winners are a self-correcting lot. Ron Mexico is in that class.

Another reason the American people are upset with congress…….
Senator Larry Craig (Republican) voted yesterday against adding protection for gays into the federal hate crimes law, just a few short months after pleading guilty for attempting to have sex in a public restroom with a male undercover officer. Here is a geo-political test. Take it and see where you fall on the idiot spectrum of nitwits:
Q: Would any commander in chief send 130K men into a combat zone where one nuke could wipe them all out?
1) No
2) yes
3) Maybe
4) You mean if Saddam had nothing to lose he’d have nuked all our men?
5) Somebody woulda stopped him. they always do.
6) Newt Gingrich, who lives only 11 minutes from the pentagon, coulda saved us all with one phone call.

Newt is very smart but it will not be smart for him to run for prez. Every voting female I’ve talked to remembers how he was doing another female while his wife lay in the hospital dying of cancer. Women will come out in droves to vote against him if he somehow gets the nomination. Back then, he should have thought with his big head instead of his little one.

• No more Michael Vick stories for me. Too depressing. I hate stories, even in the movies, that force me to bear witness to a talented or promising individual’s self-destruction said Jim Wooten.
Jim, here is another depressing story of talented and promising individual’s self-destruction caused by the integrationist Negroes.
The Bible records that King Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord and caused all Israel to sin. He made two calves of gold, and said unto them, it is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt… King Jeroboam made a house of high places, and made priests of the lowest of the people, which were not of the sons of Levi…
In other words, by the permissive will of God, Jeroboam devised a scheme to insure that Israel could not receive the proper leadership and would remain divided; although it would allow him to rule Israel. King Rehoboam ruled the house of Judah and Benjamin.
Practically all of the so-called African American leaders and prominent people have elevated themselves with the support of others over the masses. This is the cause of personal self destruction in the African American community. The masses of our people are not integrationist. Yet, they are indoctrinated with this integrationist scheme by enemies within and outside of our ethnic group. The lowest of the people in every way have been awarded degrees, certificates, honors, etc., and are thrust in the stead of people who have the genuine interest of African Americans at heart; and would provide proper leadership and excellence.
The masses of African Americans must discover this great deception or they will continue to experience so-called individual self destruction clearly caused by their so-called integrationist leaders. Let’s be candid here, if African Americans continue on the path of integration, dependency, others selecting our leaders and prominent people for the benefit of others, and to the detriment of the masses of African Americans, the world will bear witness to the removal of promising and talented African Americans from the face of the earth via so-called individual self-destruction. We will be removed as a man takes away dung; it is removed until there is none left.

If syria had wmds, they would have used them to retaliate for the recent israeli invasion of syria. I still believe there is a secret tunneling operation going on under syria and norther iraq, paid for by america, to bring kurdish crude oil to haifa. It has long been an israeli wet dream to have pipelines for oil, fresh water, and connection to the european electric grid. As with all israelin wet dreams, the american taxpayer is forced to foot the bill. Perhaps syria was about to detect the sounds of this tunneling operation, hence the secretative attack. Regardless, that was an act of war, and syria would have been totally justified in nuking, gasing, or bio attacking the israelin aggressor. Since Syria did not, the conclusion must be that they did not have the wmds for such a mission.

Friends -
Longtime readers know that THE Captain’s postings are rigorous in adhering to the topics about which Mr Wooten urges us to Think Rightly. However, in light of the minor stroke that seems to have afflicted our host today, leading him to non-sequiter egrigiosity heretofore only imagined (e.g, “I hate white collar criminals, and I hate child molesters, too. Especially child molesters, they are very bad, let me mention a few more white collar criminals, hey look at that priest over there, what’s he doing with that little boy?”), THE Captain will take liberty and post about something Mr Wooten would have mentioned had it not been for his unfortunate transient ischaemic attack.
There has been much kerfuffle over Bill O’Reilly’s innocent remarks regarding the relative civility of our Dark Skinned brethren and their not-male servan women. The crybaby liberals suggest that Mr O’Reilly — one of the leading lights of True Belief and White Christian Male Leadership — is somehow racist because he pointed out that the Nigras (well, a few anyway) no longer eat with their fingers and smack their lips loudly over fried chicken and watermelon.
I mean really, Who Knew? Mr O’Reilly has performed a great service to those of us who are rarely exposed to the darkies other than on the Fox News Documentaries like Cops and The Jeffersons.
In that spirit, THE Captain would like to return the favor to those Dark People who never actually see Real Americans other than on their televisions that are not — contrary to popular belief — always paid for with food stamps and inflated welfare checks.
So, for our non-White Americans:
Mr O’Reilly is a fine exemplar of the amazing transformation of the Irish immigrant. This man is usually not drunk by 11 a.m. His diet often consists of something other than potatoes, and he has not been in a bar brawl since he and Al Franken mixed it up in 2002. (Talk about personal restraint!) Further, when Mr Bill dines at his favorite eating establishment, the Lucky Shamrock, he is surrounded by people who use napkins instead of shirtsleeved to wipe their chins. And you hardly ever hear one of these surprisingly civilized patrons declare, “Give me another whiskey ya fookin’ gob$hite ‘fore i give ya a few vinegar strokes up the rasher.” They behave just like real people.
THE Captain hopes this little bit of field research has proved informative and educational.

Paul…another issue impacting the US is the increasing number of oil producers who no longer accept US dollars as payment…they now accept Euros, gold, and soon, the Yuan. These countries, of course, have every desire to see the US suffer.

If currency isn’t a safe investment, and real estate is on a down slope, where do you put it? I also went big on emerging market funds.

Dusty@10:49 - when you mention what W the incompetent, the CIA and the British knew, are you referring to the “mobile chemical weapons labs” (which were actually used for weather balloons) or the aluminum centrifuge tubes (that ended up being for artillery).
Also, if (and that is a big if), Saddam shipped any WMDs out of the country, the more likely destination would be Saudi Arabia (you know, the home country to most of the hijackers on 9/11).

My neyber Homer has a 25 year old boy that needs guvmint health care. Course, the boy is kind of slow and gets lost all the time if he gos outdoors. All the other kids need to pay for their own. We’ll just give them a tax credit. Course, they don’t make no money so they don’t pay no taxes, so I guess they’ll just have to do without. I figure at 10 billion a year guvmint health care for kids just cost too much. Especially since we need 190 billion a year to fight the war.
Glad to see the woman with the double a-hole and Sister Dusty are giving the libruls the what for. Those two must be pure heck to live with. They are the first to carp and nag and attack. I guess their husbands will go straight to heaven when they pass because they’ve spent their time in hell on earth.
At least the Dems finally come to realize the war is going to last another 10 or 20 years till we kill every towel head over there. I wonder if I could get one of them oil pipelines to my trailer. We use heating oil in the winter and it cost a fortune. Even more than gas.
Well, I been busting my butt all morning laying in a stock of beer for the good GA Baptists. I better get back at it. You don’t need me anyway. Pretty soon tftt will wake up from his haze and get on here and start cussing and hissing at the libruls. And jbmlaw will just blast anything that’s like to cost him any money. I see the far left hate America IMBECILIC anal obsessive

The VT based serial child molestor rednekkks ‘Oedipus’ NAMBLA shamelessly pukes up its ‘overt’ sicko yanKKKee paedophile filth again. At least its had the decency to absent itself for a little while, as the retarded venal leftist yanKKKee filth, the venal leftist western scum and southern venal black/liberal racebaiters gleefully destroy the last vestiges of proper congressional rule.
ITS WAY PAST TIME TO DUMP Bobby Cox -the Braves have oh so predicktably choked yet again - and its not even post season.
The human scum dog killer Vick is the perfect sullen poster boy for unremitting hippety hop thuggery. Hopefully it will fail another drug test and have its bail revoked!!
Watching the venal black racebaiting bigot jackasson finally have the balls to face O’Reilly on FNC was just hilarious!! This nasty gimme gimme black racist just couldn’t bring himself to admit that its the deply shameful 70% black b astard rate that is the SINGLE worst ‘factor’ in the unending decades of violent black crime!! jackasson pathetically desperately waffled around all kinds of ‘excuses’ whilst O’Reilly disgustingly refused to address jackasson’s life long blatant racial shakedowns, greed, hypocrisy, false tax returns, bigotry, vainglorious racial spoils lies etc.
RABIDington hilariously pukes up its frenetically dishonest bollocks about how yours truly posts “vile right wing” stuff on here. Yet RABIDington NEVER EVER answers the factual points made!! It just hides behind the usual black racial spoils smokescreen and dissembles or just cuts and runs from the cold hard awkward truth about hippety hop thuggery and the UNENDING black crime epidemic!!
Not ONE white mayor RABIDington anywhere has asked for 10,000 white boys to act as ‘volunteers’ to stop white yoofs slaughtering other white yoofs. Exact same problem on a slightly lesser scale in Cleveland OH is NOT a white thang either. And numerous other ‘black’ and ‘black run’ cities have the same black violent crime too.
Yet when honest black liberals like Juan Williams and Bill Cosby actually step up and start pointing out the cold hard truth about thuggish violent black (yoof) culture all they get is black racist scum racially abusing them on CNN!!
So long as these professional black racists keep blaming whitey for everything and can cynically keep black hate focused on simmering racial hate of “the man” NOTHING will change. These black racists/bigots WANT to keep the racial spoils industry going - its where their MONEY/POWER COMES from. And undeniably and quite despicably ordinary black folks/victims are the BIGGEST losers!!!

The sad and pathetic Islamoliberalcommie getalife continues to confuse the basic issues regarding the neo-Nazi slander group MoveOn and their Soros/Zion-funded hate program. (Though THE Captain is admittedly confused about how this non-Gentile conspiracy can reconcile their pro-Zion program with their basic anti-Semitism vis a vis their criticism of the proto-Jewish neo-conservative cabal. perhaps jbmlaw can explain.)
The Godly Rush was mocking the honor of cowards who volunteered to serve in our military. Real Soldiers march to their fate without question, and know that it is the Right Thing to do. The Phony Soldiers referenced by Rush the Brave have committed the unforgivable sin of thinking about the war from the perspective of someone who has actually seen battle. Real American Heroes — like Rush, Cheney, Dusty, THE Captain, and Our Leader Bush — are unencumbered by the clouded thinking that results from seeing your friends die in a bloody splatter, from being shot at by enemies you cannot see, and by killing women and children terrorists who made the mistake of being swarthy desert people. Only those whose minds are uncluttered in this way, and who were wise enough to avoid service in the first place, have the right to direct our troops, or to criticize those Generals who have strayed from the straight and narrow (traitors like Shinseki et al).
The ad mocking the honor of Gen Petrayus was beyond the pale. Here is a man who is following his orders like a good soldier, a man like Colin Powell who is unafraid to flush his integrity and human decency down the swirlie for the chance to advance his own — and Our Leader’s — personal ambition.
General Petrayus is a Man we can count on, and THE Captain for one looks forward to the day when He runs for President.
Um, meaning the general running, not THE Captain. Just to be clear. THE Captain knows his place in this Permanent War is here at the keyboard, helping Sister Dusty and Miles Apart fend off the advance of fifth column Islamobloggers like getalife.

The Israeli air force scrambled war planes Sept. 27th after its radars detected Syrian helicopters approaching Israel’s northern border. The IAF jets returned to base after determining the Syrian helicopters had no intent to attack.
This marks the third time over the past two weeks that the IAF has sent warplanes to the Syrian border because of false alarms. On Sept. 21st they scrambled to intercept a potential airborne threat from Syria, only to find out the “enemy” was a flock of migratory birds.
This is NOT typical behavior for the IAF regardless of what the Israeli media is saying.
The Syrians have been steadily building up troops in forward positions on the Golan Heights for two weeks now. Routine behavior for Syria while Israel’s jumpiness is not. On Sept. 6th Israel bombed something just over the Turkish border into Syria. Everyone involved has been very hush hush on the attack. Syria does not have the capability to take on Israel militarily and Israel knows this all too well. That’s why it has launched it’s attacks without fear of reprisal.
There were reports of a chemical explosion in Syria on July 26th which released chemical agents including mustard gas, VS gas and sarin nerve gas. Israel has indicated through undisclosed meetings that it has no beef with Syria but are probably more concerned with the possibility that Syrian control of these chemical weapons could fall into the hands of the Iranians operating across Israel’s northern borders.
There was evidence of biological and chemical agents in Iraq. Those agents, along with ballistic missiles were what was shipped into Syria.

jack@11:39 - once again, WMD means WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. Neither mustard gas nor sarin are capable of mass destruction. They work well in small areas. Saddam’s worst attack using mustard gas killed an estimated 5,000 (wounded an estimated 65,000). A weapon of mass destruction is something that kills in the 100,000+ range. Nuclear weapons do that, biological weapons do that. As nasty as mustard gas and sarin are, you would need a heck of a lot of it to kill on that scale.
Based on your logic, any weapon could be considered a WMD if you use enough of it.

He made two calves of gold, and said unto them, it is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt…
King Jeroboam made a house of high places, and made priests of the lowest of the people, which were not of the sons of Levi…

Dusty@12:21 - the way intelligence works is that you are trying to put together a puzzle, only you have the pieces from a million different puzzles to choose from. Rarely do you ever get a complete picture. Contrary to what you might believe, there were a lot of people in the intelligence community (I think even Colin Powell had his doubts) who had doubts about the extent of Saddam’s weapons program prior to the invasion. Bush and Cheney chose to cherry pick the data to fit their conclusion and based upon that false conclusion, decided to invade Iraq.
I stated at the time I felt this to be the wrong war at the wrong time for the wrong reasons and nothing over the last four plus years has happened to make me change my mind.

More hyprocrital musings from Jim Wooten.
The big “deceit” about healthcare in America is the conservative BS that Americans can use the market to shop around for the best prices on medical care.
Earth to Wooten: Doctors, hospitals, clinics, etc., do not make their prices for various procedures available to the public beforehand. They are not required to do so — and if an individual knew what their specific problem was they would not need diagnostic tests.
It is plain idiocy to believe that the market will take care of all problems. What the market will do is separate winners (healthy persons with insurance) from the losers (poor and soon to be dead people without insurance).
Maybe the plan is to cut off all access to health care for the poor, if they die early that takes care of social security and medicare shortfalls.
Now that sounds like a plan the GOP and Wooten would embrace — but not admit it.

WMD DEFINITIONS:
1: “Generally refers to chemical, nuclear, biological agents or explosive devices.” Source: www1.va.gov/emshg/apps/emp/emp/definitions.htm 2: “a weapon that kills or injures civilian as well as military personnel (nuclear and chemical and biological weapons).” SOURCE: http://wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?s=wmd
Your comment about chemical agents or biologicals not being WMDs is factually incorrect. What if a WMD killed 99,999—is that NOT a WMD but one that killed 100K IS? What if someone deployed a nuclear device in a desert but nobody was nearby and no one was killed—would that NOT be a WMD?
Don’t try to use logic or facts to win your arguments. Stay with emotion and name calling—for that is the stuff of which liberals are made.

jm,
So you invented (fabricated) the 100K number, didn’t respond to my comments, and confirmed that “weapons of mass destruction can be high explosives or nuclear, biological, chemical, and radiological weapons…”
Then you wrote “your serve, Sparky.” To you people, fighting terrorism IS indeed tantamount to a game of tennis and you take that responsibility no more seriously than a tennis game.
Saddam’s generals believed he had WMDs. If CIA had infiltrated Saddam’s government to where an Iraqi Army General relayed intelligence to the U.S., that general would have stated that Saddam had WMDs—and we would have acted as any responsible nation would have. If his own generals thought he had WMDs, why would you hold your own country to a higher standard?
Fighting radical Islam is not a tennis game.
It’s interesting that liberals want the war in Iraq to be ended because its duration is about 5 years. Yet, we’ve fought the War on Poverty for 50 years and yet we continue to pour money into solving this problem. Liberals have endless patience for social programs but almost none for national security and defense. Their recent blasphemy of a decorated Ph.D. general really says it all. I’ve yet to hear a Democrat propose or even advocate a more efficacious war strategy. I’ve yet to hear a Democrat propose a post-Iraq strategy—what to do when the genocide occurs. No major Democrat presidential candidate will commit to doing what they say President Bush won’t do—pulling all troops out of Iraq. The Democrat party is weak on the most fundamental responsibility of our federal government—the protection of its citizens.
Liberals say 2 things: (1) “We want to bring our troops home”. (2) “We want to fight terrorism”.
The only way to accomplish that is for our troops to fight terrorism on our soil.
That is what you want, jm, isn’t it?
Go back to your games, son.

VoR, sir, U R passionate, but U do not persuade. Terrorism is a red herring. The enemy we created in Iraq by invading is the same enemy that Iran fought to a stalemate for 8 years. Confused yet? Confusius say, man who blow donkey on hill not on level….

VoR@2:31 - as I stated earlier, anything can kill a large number of people if you use enough of it. By that standard, anything can be considered a WMD. I use the bombing of Dresden as my baseline (about 100,000 people were killed there using “conventional” weapons, not WMDs) for WMDs.
Whatever gave you the idea that I supported the War on poverty? Like the War on Drugs, it is an open ended program that exists solely to drain the treasury of funds.
Since you feel free to label me liberal because of my opposition to the Iraq War, then I will feel free to label you a delusional paranoid who is apparently afraid of his own shadow.
Also, what makes you think I support the attacks on General Petreus? He seems a reasonably capable General, who is ambitious (as is anyone who achieves that rank) put in a no win situation.
As for an effacious war strategy, first you have to define what constitutes victory. Bush and Cheney have redefined it several times. Can you define what constitutes victory?
Terrorism is a tactic, one that even the US uses when it suits them. You do not fight a war against tactics.
Your serve, Sparky.

Gentlemen, gentlemen! We’ll not solve anything with a circle jerque du soleil, instead we must blog on toward a daily conclusion which I will presume to establish with this caviat: Healthcare would have been affordable if we hadn’t invaded Iraq, but that trillion dollars is in a hole in the sand.

I AM curious, though, when we are going to intervene in Myanmar. Based upon our leader’s past four State of the Union addresses, we have a moral obligation to support those who seek democracy in the face of tyranny. Here is a perfect example. I sincerely hope and pray that there is no more bloodshed.

Sorry, Wooten, I don’t believe your story about the cost estimates. You sure didn’t complain when Bush put out those completely imaginary numbers to justify his tax cuts. You have already parroted the $83,000 figure which is false.
You’ve written about Norman Hsu many, many times. How about the Republican fundraisers that are under indictment? Ones that actually work for the campaign directly, not contractors? Come on, show that you are not just a political hack and do some juicy stuff about them.

The “one thought wonders” such as Reason, Law and Order, getalife, Miles Apart (could they all be the same troll?) offer little and subtract much from any discussion here.
None of these deep thinking liberals have answered the question posed often here about the comments from Bill and Hill, as well as members of the Clinton Cabinet, regarding Saddam and the WMDs. During the Clinton administration all of those listed above, along with Kerry and Kennedy, made public statements regarding the danger Saddam presented to the world, his WMD programs and the need to take Saddam out of power.
Where are you LIBERALS? Do you have a response? If these Learned Liberals all thought Saddam had the weapons 10 years ago why do you doubt the WMDs now?
I will await your thought provoking answer.

Just a suggestion (or two):
Type your genius in the little AJC box, then concurrently (that is at the same time) strike the Ctrl key and C.
Minimize the window and open MSWord, or something similar, and in the new window concurrently strike Ctrl and V. The word processor will check your spelling and grammar.
Reverse the process.
You are welcome.

I am not a liberal, nor am I a conservative: both parties are fully owned and operated by the pro israel lobby. I Jack thinks he is super duper secret agent Beur, then I suggest he investigate the take over of the American Federal Government by agents of a foreign power. Of course Jack is not a secret agent, he is just a big mouthed idiot. At least I have a purpose in my posts, to alert people to the take over of Washington by the pro israel lobby, and the looting of America by jewish americans loyal only to israel, imho. DemsDems4Ever@4:09 - While many in the Clinton and the first Bush Administration believed that Saddam had WMDs, there were also many in the intelligence community who had their doubts (particularly after operation Desert Fox). There were several instances when the US was asked by UNSCOM to share the intelligence they had on Saddam’s WMDs. For the most part they were rejected. While UNSCOM was unable to prove the existence of WMDs, they also were unable to prove that they had been destroyed (which was the key sticking point).
In any case, if what Colin Powell presented to the UN was any example of the intelligence the US had, it is no wonder they did not share it with UNSCOM.

Demdems, I won’t try to speak for the ones you mention. But your premise is facetious, and I expect you know it.
Dems let Repubs put them on the defensive too much. MoveOn comes out with a hard hitting ad, Repubs howl with faux outrage, and 22 Dem Senators cave. Limbaugh impugns the patriotism of soldiers who disagree with him, some of whom have actually given their lives for us, and the wingnuts rally around him. And this is a guy who avoided service for his country ‘cause he had a wart on his butt.
So no, demdems, when wingnuts like you say stupid things, the best strategy is to choose not to respond.

“The question that he quoted at the beginning is from Drew Westen at The New Republic:
The question Democrats have never asked Republicans since the war began is the only one that really matters: Would you send your own child to die in Iraq? And if so, have you done everything you can to convince your children that, if this is truly the war you say it is–for our freedom, for our very way of life, to keep the terrorists “over there” so that we don’t fight them “over here”–they should drop their lucrative investment banking careers and be all they can be in Baghdad?”

Sooo, Craigo@4:34,
Repeating the comments of the Clintons, his Cabinet and Kerry and Kennedy is stupid? By your logic then those individuals are less intellignet than even that no-college, no-National Guard, no-business sense, knuckle dragger in the White House.
Craig, despite what seems to people like you to be a high road answer to my question (the best strategy…) is actually just a simple duck because to answer would be to admit you Lefties have been nothing but liars about the false intelligence position you have taken.
The premise is facetious? Exactly how is quoting your beloved leaders facetious? Whoops, maybe you are correct since referring to each of those Democrats as a leader would in fact be a joke.
Nice try LOON but that was not thought provoking - you only proved you do not think. YOU FOLLOW!

jm@4:31,
I agree and that essentially is my point. Politicians on both sides of the aisle, assuming there is an aisle, believed there were WMDs, that Saddam was a threat to the world and that Saddam should be removed from power with military action if necessary.
So then, for the same Democrats to now cry “the intelligence was cooked” is, IMHO, simply disingenuous and nothing more than political posturing to achieve power.
In other words, “Damn the consequences this is a means to an end for Democrats and we do not really care how many soldiers are killed, how many Iraqis die, or the amount of money wasted, as long as the Democrats take over Congress and the White House.”
Throw the R’s and D’s in Washington in a pot and stir, you will not be able to tell the difference in any of them when you pour the stew. They all have one goal, no not statesmanship, POWER.

Will she prohibit Bill’s contact with interns, with the wives of prominent Democrats, with female bureaucrats, teenagers, the daughters of friends, actresses, the Russian Womens Volley Ball Team, the Bulgarian womens weight lifting team, and anything in a skirt?
Will she have him followed and video taped as she did in the 70’s and 80’s?

getalife@5:35,
You provide nothing of substance to this blog. You seemingly sit on your tush searching liberal web sites for something to cut and paste. That is hardly provocative thought.
You are a one-trick pony. All negative on conservatives and never met a liberal, socialist or communist you did not love.
Your obsessive attention to “pooproom stalls” and the actions of homosexuals tends to convince me you are that which you condemn. Married? That is certainly no proof you are hetero. I really do not care what you do except for the waste you post here under what seems to be an ever-growing list of blog names.
Your constant name-calling is growing very tiresome - much like the nonsense you post. In response, I am sorry to stoop (would that be kneel?) to your level, but “go back under your bridge, troll”.
