Feel safer with surveillance cameras?

Discoveries over the weeked of two car bombs in London, followed by a firey attack on a Scottish airport, prompted U.S. Homeland Security chief Michael Chertoff to make the rounds of Sunday’s talk shows to reassure the country that the necessary precautions are being taken here.

“I think given what we know now, we’re comfortable that we’re at the right posture” said Chertoff. More air marshals will be added to overseas flights and security will be beefed up over the July 4th holiday “at various rail locations and other mass transit locations in cooperation with local authorities,’ he said. That’s not because of any specific threat, but because more people are travelling.

My favorite former Democrat, U.S. Sen. Joe Lieberman, who chairs the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs, Sunday advocated greater use surveillance cameras here. “The Brits have got something smart going on in England,” Lieberman said on ABC, “and it was part of why I believe they were able to so quickly apprehend suspects in the terrorist acts over the weekend.” That “something smart” is cameras all over London and in other major cities, he said.

“I think it’s just common sense to do that here much more widely. And of course we can do it without compromising anybody’s real privacy.”

I’m curious here on two points. One is whether the weekend’s events in England and Scotland will affect anybody’s travel plans there or elsewhere — or raise concerns about attending events here that attract large crowds? For me, no.

The other is Lieberman’s “common sense” proposal on surveillance cameras. Frankly, monitoring cameras are by now so integrated into everyday life that I’d welcome them in most any public place where they’re used for security, as opposed to revenue-raising, which is done with traffic cameras.

Terrorists, especially those who turn autos into crude car bombs have so many opportunities, that it’s impossible to protect everything and everybody everywere. Cameras that are monitored may not prevent harm, but they do increase the chances of finding the bad guys, as was the case in England.

An anti-terrorism program that concentrates on border security and on matching arrival and departures for visa-holders — who can then be tracked down and deported — is a higher priority than screening fans at a baseball game or every container passing through the Port of Savannah.

The Pope will be traveling to London this weekend. We will be staying about a block and a half from the Russell Square tube station, one of the 3 stations bombed on July 7, 2005. The personage of Our Eminence considers us quite safe, certainly safer than driving around the interstates of Georgia with so many drunken rednecks on the highways.

The nice thing about international travel is that most rednecks don’t have passports, so the truly ugly Americans - like the Woo-ten Klanners - stay home.

However, Woo-ten Klanners, travel broadens the mind, even simple ones like yours. On this most patriotic of weekends, We the Pope suggest that you enlist in our fine army and request a trip to Fallujah.

Good morning all. I respectfully disagree, in part, with the morning thesis. I think I would feel no safer if we had a bureaucracy of 1,000,000 bureaucrats following around 10 million Mexican visa-holders. Indeed, I would deem that a total waste. I would like 100,000 bureaucrats following around every foreign-born who has an Islamic name. I think domestic Muslims are not a grave risk – seems like there was poll a couple of weeks ago that said only 30% of them think suicide-bombing is justifiable, which I assume is close to the numbers for Methodists, Catholics, and Latter-Day Saints. (Ok, that’s a joke people.) To employ an un-pc concept, until we use a little discrimination in our war on terror, waste and inefficacy will be the rule of the day.

Perhaps to comment on Jim’s primary thrust, despite my libertarian inclinations, I have no problem with public cameras since there is no reasonable expectation of privacy - sort of a Moslems-gone-wild rule, modification of the Florida standard. Even in the case of bureaucrats tapping telephones - just keep the traditional standard, that the fruit of warrantless invasion of privacy shall not be admissible in court.

How very libertarian of you to support more government surveillance and increased police powers to follow “suspicious figures” (vaguely defined as anyone with an “Islamic-sounding name”).

Do you think the Libertarian Party will agree with your firmly freedom-loving ideals on this issue?

Guvmint is getting so nosy that pretty soon I won’t be able to pee by the side of my beer truck without being reported and arrested. I say keep the cameras out of my life. Use them downtown to catch Those People when they mug people or rob another bank.

I don’t want a camera checking me out when I grow a little Crop or maybe use some stuff that’s nobody’s business. Next thing you know, the missus will be getting tape showing everything I do when I’m away from home and out will come the big frying pan again.

Wooten is going to get people kilt. If there was cameras all over they might show some guy sneaking from his own house to visit the wife of another guy. Then the husband would get the tape and go gunning for the guy. The divorce courts and hospitles would just fill up.

I’m downright ashamed of Wooten. He’s a trader to good conservative causes. He spends all this time talking about keeping guvmint out of our life and then turns around and wants guvmint cameras to spy on us. And all the politicans would be showing tape of their enemas doing bad things and pretty soon TV would be too dirty to watch. A guy couldn’t even buy some stuff on a street corner without having DEA people waiting for him when he gets home.

But I’m all for deporting illegals. I don’t care how many A-bombs get smuggled in containers at the ports. Just as long as the illegals get deported and my job is safe. That would be real homeland security.

Good morning, Jim,

I left London on Tuesday, just before the Thursday bombing, in 2005. One of the last places I went through before leaving for airport was Edgware Road Station, one of the major targeted areas.

If I had the opportunity, I would visit in London, Glasgow, or Edinburgh anytime. One is just as safe there as anywhere else. The Islamist fanatics (this foolishness about a war on terror demonstrates the shallowness of the Bush administration as well as the Democrats)will hit us in their own good time.

Senator Lieberman’s suggestion that we expand security cameras in public areas, if adopted, would provide some benefit; however, we all know that in such an expansive and mobile society as ours, without an effective national mass transit system, nothing will reach more than 67% effectiveness.

The real solution is to attack the attackers. We need to go after the Islamists with the attitude of blood atonement. Such a solution does not sit well with the American people. We are not, by nature, brutal. Also, the politically correct crowd would have a collective stroke.

I fear that before we really get serious about prosecuting this War Against Islamist Fanatics, we will have to suffer the type of attack that the Jihadists are continually threatening to unleash upon us.

Surveillance cameras?? I protest..

Now some of you handsome gentlemen are most surely the heady Hollywood type. Just strut your stuff.

But alas for some, beauty comes from within and that is where it stays. The soul shines and all that stuff, but nobody is taking pictures of it.

I am not speaking of myself, of course, but no one has ever suggested I go into the modeling business either. So must we film all fair features for posterity? Do we not see enough gangsters on CSI, NCIS and Pacino movies to know a criminal when we see one? But, of course. They all wear pin stipe suits for one thing.

I suggest we spend our money on flying banners behind little airplanes that say “Crime does not pay!”. Then let all convicts work in those chicken plants that nobody loves.

As a former Navy man and old friend used to say in a most charitable way when confronted with the less than beautiful:”That one would scare a cat off a gut wagon!” And we want to take pictures of ‘em? Hmmmm I think not.

Dear Anonymous @ 8:47, why would I – or any thinking person – care what the Libertarian Party (or even the Democrat or Republican parties) thinks about anything? I do not subordinate my thinking to any group. If the Libertarian Party had any concept of what it takes to remain free, I may pay attention to them. Fighting a war against terrorism is like fighting a war against diarrhea. Both are symptoms…not the disease itself. The latter is a symptom of bacteria or virus in the digestive system. The former is a symptom of vermin in the social or theological system. Both can be cured with a strong purgative. Trouble with we Americans is we are using Feenament gum when we really need Castro Oil!

I work at the airport and would like to see more security on curbside roads and on the parking deck and lot. A determined terrorist, even a home grown one would find it easy to pack explosives and do considerable damage. Cameras in those places would be ideal. Like Liberman, i agree with the use of cameras. If you have nothing to hide or no bad intentions, why do you fear?

Lets hope that Mrs Oedipus NAMBLA is swiftly in the wrong place at the wrong time in England which is increasingly the case for so many people now everywhere, not just in the major cities. Assuming it actually goes anywhere beyond S Georgia, I recall last year that pathetic, anally heralded postcard posted from Tifton GA (wasn’t it?).

UNLIKE Mrs JM Karr I have TWO passports, a UK one and a US one.

In the UK thuggish binge drinking by feral yoofs and older men and increasingly women of all races is staggering and these feral yoofs now just casually use knives for stabbing folks on the street the way a Klinton or a Kennedy used to molest women. 18 is the legal age of alcohol use/abuse. Even more predicktably black yoofs, aping their hippety hop heroes over here increasingly now murderously use guns in England the way black yoofs here do to settle moronic petty “dissing” incidents. The social fabric of the UK has all but been destroyed by T B.Liar and NU Labour. Crime is beyond out of control, drug taking is out of control, street crime is out of control, gangs of feral yoofs now routinely beat anyone who challenges them, or just offends them in the street - even folks outside their homes protecting their property late at night. Frequently innocent folks are beaten to death or at least a bloody pulp with virtual impunity. Knives are used where fists used to be 20/30 yerars ago. The local plod in London are now so pathetically politically correct and scared of offending any towel head terrorist that wanted terror suspects have escaped because the cops wont challenge them for fear of mohhamedan screeching about racism.

The mental sickness of liberalism and all its moral relativism, multi-culturalism. restorative justice, weak prison sentences as bad as anything ever seen in VT has infested a once civilised country. Stylish Hollywood violence, slasher movies etc and vicious video games have undeniably helped desensitise these thugs. As has hippety hop thuggishness.

DON’T BELIEVE ME??? Do a search in the Telegraph web site for “knife crime” and for “black gun crime” and read just a handful of the recent stories on just these two subjects.

UK cocaine use by just ordinary non-celebs is now staggering - the Daily Mail has exposed this with recent stories.

This is just one very recent story from one middle class town in leafy suburban Kent.

ok the relevant question here is “did the cameras prevent any bombings” and the answer is No. Incompetence prevented the bombings, and incompetence led to the police questioning the “suicide” bombers. questioning led to arrests. cameras led to nothing.

this had nothing to do with cameras.

if the bombs had been successful we’d be watching grainy useless camera images on the news with them going “this man was suspected in bombings; if you recognize this blur call your police officials”

so what is lieberman talking aboutt? lieberman just wants to be able to spy on brownish people. the democrats should really fire his a*. all the arab-haters became republicans in 2001

The cameras throughout the U.K. were, of course, put up in response to the bombing campaigns of the IRA which were much more extensive and deadly than the recent spate of terrorism. The same goes for Spain’s struggle with ETA… it created an anti-terrorist infrastructure.

I have no problem with increased surveillance. I particularly have no problem with private surveillance. My issue is that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security is the biggest money waster in the entire government (even more so than the Department of Education) and I do not trust it to use the money and power that would go towards building a surveillance network effectively. I would task local law enforcement with the establishment and develop soft and hardware to link federal agencies with local law enforcement. I had the privilege of touring some of NYPD’s counter-terrorist facilities and was very, very impressed with their organization and professionalism. I cannot say the same for my interactions with DHS.

MidSouth Philosopher,

Sorry you don’t think we are REALLY fighting terrorism. In fact, you never even mentioned the War on Terrorism in Iraq. Perhaps you have convinced yourself that we are not fighting terrorism there. That IEDs, mass graves, beheadings, tortured POWs, are just a bit of inhouse unhappiness.

Your suggestion is that we fight the sources. Let’s see. That would entail bombing the Himalayas, the Madrassas in Saudi Arabia full of little terrorists to be, suspicious mosques, all gatherings of Hamas, Hezbollah, Shining Light, etc. etc. Is that what you mean?

As for disliking George W. Bush, I think he has the foresight that few Americans seem to realize. He is fighting terrorism now, where it is, before it aims the full force at America.

The main thing that would help our fight against terrorism would be to throw full American support behind it. There is so much whining about President Bush that our enemies most surely associate that with disconent against fighting them. I am quite sure, and other reports say the same, that discontent with Bush and the war is encouraging terrorists.

I do not “worship” Bush as some will soon say. He has made human errors, mostly by believing in people he thought were competent when they were not. But he has a vision of the future that I believe will be found to be true as time passes. Sorry you don’t see it.

NOPE - the current massive network of cameras were NOT put up because of cowardly racist fenian terrorism against us English. There were of course a fair number of CCTV cameras for security in the more obvious (public) places back in those days - but the huge explosion in the numbers of cameras ALL ACROSS OLD ALBION, installed and monitored by both private business and local councils has primarily come in the sleaze ridden authoritarian but yet amazingly ineffective law and order blowhards of the last decade of the corrupt to the core Nu Labour and Tony B.Liar regime.

B,Liar has now been interviewd by police three times in the Nu Labour peerages for sale scandal. Top Labour govt sleaze bags have even been charged in this somewhat covered up scandal.

Let’s take a look at Georgie Bush’s record.

He started strong in the War Against Islamist Fanatics. The Afghan Campaign was quite successful, but he has become side-tracked in the Iraq War because he (and his stooge, Rumsfeld) didn’t pay attention in 10th grade class on the one day the teacher talked about Islam and the Middle Eastern mindset. Consequently, after winning the military victory over Saddam’s forces, he was a lost ball in high grass as to how to occupy that da*n attempt at a political threesome (Shi’a, Sunni, and Kurd).

His tax cuts have benefited the wealthy and spurred the economy for all of us…no argument there. However, the growth of jobs that he likes to tout have largely been in the low paying service sector. The actual earnings power has declined.

His administration’s handling of Hurricane Katrina was sophomoric at best.

He has NEVER met a SPENDING bill, out of the conservatively dominated Congress (remember the Dems, sorry as they are, have only been in power less than a year), that he didn’t like!

He melded with Teddy Kennedy to support two of the most ludicrous and illogical pieces of legislation that could be conceived by two reformed drunks…No Child Left Behind (No Teacher Left with One) and the recently failed Comprehensive Immigration Reform (Amnesty) Bill.

He has blatantly refused to enforce the existing immigration laws…the one area in which his detractors might have grounds for an impeachable offense…but, then, again,…who in the Hades wants Dickie Cheney any closer to the Oval Office than he is.

In Bush’s defense, there has not been another major attack on American soil since 2001…so his or somebody’s strategy has worked there and, in my judgment that is his one redeeming value. Incidentally, the last attack on America in 2001 was NOT the 911 attacks. We seem to have forgotten about the anthrax assault. Whatever happened to that investigation?

As for disliking George W. Bush, I think he extremely few realizations that Americans didn’t have the foresight to see. He is fighting terrorism now, where he has helped create and empower a full force that is aimed at America.

Another ineffective thing that would help our sloganeering against terrorism would be to throw full American support behind it. There are so many fawning yes men surrounding President Bush that our enemies most surely associate that with disconent (disconnect? discontent?) against maintaining one of our most cherished rights, to petition our government for redress of grievances. I am quite sure, and other reports say the same, that discontent with Bush and the war is encouraging liberty.

And as we all know, if every single American citizen, man, woman and child, threw their unquestioning support behind Bush, the terrorists would simply give up and the war on terrorism would be over.

I do worship Bush as anyone can see. He is a superhuman and has made a couple of minor errors, mostly by pretending to be competent when he was not. But he has a vision of HIS future that I believe will be found to be true as time passes. Sorry you don’t see it.

NOT disputing at all that some cameras were put up to track fenians (and other criminals) in some obvious sensitive areas - but there are now CCTV cameras in virtually every single main st in every city, town and many average villages in England - which was NOT the case even just 10 years or so ago. the fenians did NOT ever attack places like Rayleigh in Essex or Halifax in W Yorks or Marlborough in Wiltshire - just three examples of pretty ordinary (smallish) places that have/had NO strategic fenian importance and have been wired up with cameras that I have seen myself in return trips to what used to be (before Nu Labour) the sceptered isle!

in part its to track the binge drinking/street crime I mentioned in an earlier post. Even small market towns in the shires of England can be just as violent at what used to be closing time (before 24 hour drinking arrived)with drunken yoofs as London’s west end or Leeds or Liverpool.

At 10:22 you stated, among other things:

Your suggestion is that we fight the sources. Let’s see. That would entail bombing the Himalayas, the Madrassas in Saudi Arabia full of little terrorists to be, suspicious mosques, all gatherings of Hamas, Hezbollah, Shining Light, etc. etc. Is that what you mean?

That is exactly what I mean!

It is the notion of blood atonement. For every attack on the West, we respond with a tactical nuclear weapons attack on one of the selected terrorist-centered targets (you know, one where Dickie Cheney knows the terrorists are!)

Due to the negligence of the Clinton and Bush administrations, we can’t do it with conventional forces. So it will have to be with tactical nuclear devices.

Of course, a lot of innocent people will be victims. That is why it is called WAR! What we need is a “Billy” Sherman strategy for dealing with the Islamic Fanatics.

I do not believe, by a long shot, that the majority of followers of Islam are Islamists. Rather, they are cowed by their fanatic brethren. If we implement the blood atonement strategy, and when the law of diminishing returns takes over in the number of their casualties, the moderate Muslims will rise up an put a stop to the fanaticism of the Islamists.

Of course, we are NOT going to do any of this. We are going to sit idly by in our diversified, politically correct, intellectually neutered stupor until we are hit again, and wonder what we did wrong.

but seriously harold has no problem with red light cameras. they address real problems which are jackasses blocking intersections or blazing thru the red at high speed

speeding ticket cameras though.. those things essentially give you a ticket for not having a NAV system in your car. NAV systems tell on those things, so those things are useless except for slowing down the quarter mile before them. put one every quarter mile, harold supposes, and maybe they’ll slow traffic down overall

Midsouth Philosopher,

Yes, let us review Bush’s presidency with an open mind and facts.

USA won the war in Afghanistan. Since 2003, the stabilization of Afghanistan has been under the direction of ISAF(International Security Assistance Force). Troops from over 25 nations are present there. NATO, not just USA, assists there. The country was not deserted.

We disposed of a terroristic ambitious dictator in a central Mid-Eastern country, Iraq. Fanatical islamists have gathered there and the postwar period has become war. We are fighting to preserve the country to whom we gave freedom. It is not easy as post war periods often are. But we have given Iraqis a chance at freedom that they must pursue. That is the dream of Bush, give freedom and fight terrorism in its MidEast origins.

Our economy is good. Jobs are jobs whether high or low. The small number of”rich” put more money into the USA treasury than all the larger number of “poorer” people here. Are you saying that is not fair?

Bush has had an American attack 9/11, a city demolished by hurricane, a world shaking tsunami and earthquakes, two wars against terrorism. increased homeland defense, and you don’t know why he/Congress spent a lot of money? Well, guess!!

An effort to improve education may or may not have worked. Have not heard the final verdict on that one.

Bush tried to improve immigration. His plan was rejected by Americans. That is the way our government works.

I can only say that Republican President Bush has been working solely for the benefit of this country. I see no plans by Democrats to do anything at all, much less better.

Jim, Jim, Jim. You ignorant, Republican shill. On one hand you rail against illegal immigrants because they are breaking the law and don’t have any problem with surveillance cameras to catch law breakers. Yet, you then object that red light cameras because they are just there to raise revenues. What part of ‘breaking the law’ don’t you understand? Running a red light is illegal same as crossing the border into the US. In fact, running a red light is probably the more unsafe of the two. The answer is simple; if you don’t want to be a law breaker, don’t break the law. This just another example Republican neo-con double standards - punish all the law breakers except for me. Why do you hate America so much?

Americans should,

(a) Demand that cameras be removed from public places,

(b) Send all illegal immigrants back home,

(c) Insure that people who prefers to globalize as opposed to nationalize be bound with the chains of the Constitution.

The Constitution of the United States is a Nationalist document and protects its citizens from tyranny of the government. It obviously has no value to a tyrannical government or people who believe in a global world. Cameras protect Americans from terrorist and subversives. Yet they are also a tool to assist tyrannical governments in its control of a populace. The latter is the greater and imminent threat to the freedom of Americans. In the event that the United States government publicly declares to its populace that America has moved from a Republic to Fascist State, the cameras are already in place to insure the safety of the proclaimed fascist government and its declaration. No surveillance cameras in public places please!

MidSouth,

Just read your last piece. Sorry, but I don’t advocate another World War nor the use of atomic bombs or even primitive blood atonement. We are not in the same do or die situation which Truman faced when he made his atomic decisions. We also do not create military for blood atonement. That is not an American goal.

We also do NOT need another depressed “Billy” Sherman burning his way across the Middle East to win a war. General Petraeus has a plan and it is not a blood thirsty one or an incendiary one as you suggest.

I think it is very sad that some Americans cannot support the war we are fighting but want to burn the world with atomic bombs. Atomic bombs are the very last thing to be considered, never an every day option.

Pope redneck,

Have a nice trip in the baggage compartment. Bring your bone along so you can chew on it to prevent air sickness.

Dusty,

While a better job has been done in Afghanistan than Iraq, I think, with the resurgence of the Taliban in portions of that country, it is a bit premature to raise the Mission Accomplished banner just yet. Over the Pakistani border, in that No Man’s Land there still remain entirely too many Islamists (Usama bin-Laden probably among them, if his liver has rotted out yet). This would be a good location for the first blood atonement strike.

Iraq is disaster. It will be a disaster 10 years from now. Georgie and Donnie didn’t know their Middle Eastern history. Iraq was put together by the British as a flipping political convenience! The peaceful Sunni and Shi’s have been slicing each other throats since Muhammed soared off to Allah in the 7th Century. They are NOT going to change. The Kurds like the Sunni and the Shi’a only slightly better than the Turks. It is a cluster ….

As far as the economy is concerned, Georgie Bush is NOT a conservative…he is a corporatist. A corporatist favors the maintenance of the small elite capitalist class…the movers and shakers of the business world. They want a small, pre-World War I (yes I said World War I) sized middle class. They want an even smaller, small business class. Finally, they want a large working and working poor class (about 90% of the population). In the absence of extermination facilities, they will tolerate 5-7% deadbeats, homeless, and prisoners.

With respect to education, if No Child Left Behind is such a success, why do we hear the hew and cry for vouchers?

As to spending money, even if you take out ALL (that is every da*n dollar) that he has spent on the war effort in Afghanistan and Iraq, government spending has risen under George W. Bush more than ANY American President since World War II!

Barring some earth shattering event between now and January 20, 2009, in the legacy of history, George W. Bush will be numbered among such greats as Millard Fillmore, Franklin Pierce, James Buchanan, and Warren G. Harding.

WWII was a disaster until we won. Iraq will either go under or get their Iraqi act together. Ethnic differences are nothing new. Recall Bosnia, etc.? Right now we are fighting to give the Iraqis one last chance at decent citizenship. I support our troops to the last soldier in their mission. They should be told of our support every day by every American.

The elistist corporists are the brains of American who are smart enough to conduct big business. Would you say that the inventor/owner of Microsoft is one of those dreaded creatures? Or may be even our local Ted Turner? Only the communists know how to equalize wealth. We decided a long time ago we don’t like that. What is it you like about it?

We are of two different mindsets. We view the same set of circumstances, yet perceive things differently. Perhaps one of us is correct, perhaps each of us is partially correct, perhaps both of us are wrong.

At any extent, I tip my hat to you. You have argued logically, nobly, and without rancor. On this board that is an achievement.

We are not going to change each other’s minds or perspectives, and only time will validate or negate the positions each of us have asserted. That is, of course, provided some Islamist fanatic doesn’t do us in in some yet to be experienced attack.

At any extent, I cannot devote anymore time to this hobby today. I trust we will duel again.

From a post earlier today, I especially enjoyed these.

Our economy is good. Jobs are jobs whether high or low [paying].

All I could think of when I read that was Homer Simpson, saying “D’OH!”.

We are fighting to preserve the country to whom we gave freedom.

The people in Iraq have never chosen freedom. And they are not now nor probably ever will be in anything remotely close to a state of freedom. And that is because a western democracy can’t simply be slipstreamed into a nation that doesn’t want it! If one really believes that one can “give” freedom away, I’ve got some nice real estate to sell you in Sadr City!

An effort to improve education may or may not have worked.

The No Child Left Behind Act, like Goals 2000, is a half-funded attempt that almost encourages schools, districts, and states to manipulate test results. And one of the never spoken aloud, but more sinister aspects of it is the requirement that the schools distribute the name, home phone number and address of every student enrolled to military recruiters. Somebody should just be slapped upside the head for that one or at least rename it The No Child’s Behind Left Untouched by Uncle Sam Act.

Bush tried to improve immigration.

I’m not even going to touch that one.

I can only say that Republican President Bush has been working solely for the benefit of this country.

But apparently not for the benefit of the PEOPLE of this country so much.

There is no all or none with this topic. There are places where cameras are obviously needed if employed as public safety mechanisms. For example at ATM Machines to get very basic. I agree with Wooten in regard to traffic cams. I will never ever agree with cameras that can in any way form or fashion be employed to generate revenue for any municipality. Look what direction the “war on drugs” took when the law started allowing local law enforcement to keep confiscated properties. The whole process became all about what could be seized. Traffic cams fall into this category.

I took a cursory look at the blogs and needless to say my comments stand head and shoulders over the agent provocateurs.

The truth is always stronger than a lie. Good ultimately triumphs over evil; even if it’s written on paper.

Take a look for yourself.

Americans are twenty three thousand times more likely to be killed by a terrorist than by a meteorite.

We don’t need telescopes.

Let’s compare apples with apples and oranges with oranges. What organization fired the meteorite at Americans, Hezbollah?

Obviously we have moved from the sublime to the ridiculous.

Charles - to quote Mark Twain: “There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics.” Comparing the odds of a terrorist attack and the odds of an automobile accident is nothing more than a meaningless use of statistics.

I am not a big fan of cameras either for preventing terrorism (for other uses, maybe but not terrorism).

I’m so glad, that Jesus lifted me. I’m so glad, that Jesus lifted me. I’m so glad, that Jesus lifted me. Glory Hallelujah, Jesus lifted me.

Christians, do you see the power you have over evil spirits. They can’t bear the wonderful name of Jesus.

surely it is imperative that America attack Hizbollocks with semtex laden apples and oranges - as well as napalm and a judicious - month long at least -carpet bombing of the terrorist areas of the arab snakepit Gaza.

I can’t believe jm agrees with me in regard to cameras not being used to counter terrorism. Yet he disagrees with me pertaining to statistics.

Since jm agrees with me on the important issue, I’m not going to argue the point in regard to statistics.

John McKennedy of AZ is almost out of money and is firing most of his campaign staff and drastically reducing the wages of the remaining idiots!! McKennedy’s rabid advocacy of the illegal leeches amnesty bill and various other leftist outrages have meant that this arrogant snotty tosspot is all but finished with hsi pointless vainglorious campaign for the presidency. Take the hint Johnny boy and quietly bugger off now!!

My God, I feel good today. I hope the Holy Ghost doesn’t descend upon me like a dove while at work. You know what that could mean.

Can’t nobody, do me like Jesus. Can’t nobody, do me like the Lord. Can’t nobody, do me like Jesus, he is our friend.

Pastor Warnock, he heal my body, and told me to run on. Healed my body and told me to run on. He healed my body, and told me to run on. He is our friend.

I’ve got to leave this alone everybody. We are about to have Church up in here, and get some of those avowed sinners out there save, sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost.

By Pope rednecks - Amerikkka's Al Qaeda I

July 2, 2007 4:11 PM | Link to this

The redneck is a fear-based invertebrate, with a big yellow stripe down down its back. It is scared of everything and anything. Osama bin Laden knew this about the scum that elected George Dumbya Bush - since his desperate crimes of 9/11, he has many of the people of the greatest nation in the world cowered and crazy with fear; lathered in an impotent rage (today is Day 2119 of Where’s Osama?) and crying in frustration and fear.

Lord, the redneck is one of Your lower life forms. Evolve him quickly to save Us from his fear and treachery. In Your Son’s Name We pray. Amen.

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

I can sense the moment that Satan betrays his subjects. Pay attention to what the bloggers write now. Some make a vulgar, futile attempt to show resistance or vanish in the wind.

Charles, Dee thinks you’re crazy. Dee thinks you are as crazy as a loon. Dee thinks that maybe you need stronger medication because what you’re currently taking obviously isn’t doing the trick. Dee also thinks that perhaps instead of calling on the lord at your job, you should be calling on the nearest psych ward.

Dee thinks that the little white men in the little white coats will be there to get you by the end of the day. Dee hopes you seek serious help, because Dee feels that you are a genuinely nice person; just crazy as a loon.

Just some thoughts from Dee.

For thee, or Lord a cross I’ll bear. And I’ll go anytime, anywhere. God I’ll be true, give me work to do. And I’ll go all the way for you.

Use me Lord. Use me for thy Glory. Use me Lord. Help me tell life’s story. Make my will obey, and I’ll go all the way. Use me oh Lord, I pray.

Not for name, not for fame, that the world might see. But the glory belongs to thee, in my heart I yearn, thy love to return, for thee oh Lord, the fire burns.

By death to racist yanKKKee dogsqueeze

July 2, 2007 5:02 PM | Link to this

The treasonous perverted yanKKKee paedophile is a vile sick plague carrying rodent with cut and run hate America DNA in its fetid bloated belly and maxine waters sized ritalin addicted brain. Such perfidious yanKKKee rodents need to be mercilessly exterminated wherever they scurry. Gassing these scum is a good start, burning them out of their cesspit yanKKKee homes is another sensible pragmatic vermin control measure. But the very best way to rid the world of yanKKKee human scum is to drop carefully targeted battlefield nukes on ALL liberal/yankkkee states and sit and enjoy the aftermath on Fox News with some extra butter freshly popped popcorn.

Well everybody,

It’s about that magic hour again. It’s time to go home. Five o’clock is quitting time for me.

I’ve given a gallant effort at work today and I know the boss will say, well done thy good and faithful employee.

You all, in the vernacular of the church, get me happy. I loved reading all of the comments but as you can expect didn’t agree with some.

I’ll talk to you tomorrow; God willing.

By SCOOTER LIBBY IS FREE!!!

July 2, 2007 7:16 PM | Link to this

At long last Bush finally does the right honourable thing and (albeit only partially) pardons Libby. He should have wiped the slate completely clean … no fine, no probation. But a weak pandering to leeches president is running skeered of the leftist filth so the weak response to this despicable lynching will have to suffice.

I am really looking forward to the endless hysterical screeching from the treasonous hateful leftists at this glorious, albeit sensible news. Plame and Wilson deserve jail time for lying - they deserve utter life long scorn for their corrupt venal lies and their irrational anti-Bush hate.

CONGRATS TO SCOOTER at this timely and honourable natural justice.
