Immigration; race; schools; intown life

Thinking Right’s Friday free-for-all. Pick a topic:

Quote of the week — this from U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts: “The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race.” End of story. Or it should be. But won’t. Despite Thursday’s 5-4 decision striking down race-based school assignment in Louisville, Ky., and Seattle, this is but another small step on the journey to the destination Roberts defines. Creative school administrators, convinced of their moral imperative to find just the right “Kodak diversity” mix, will be back.

Secure the borders, build credibility and return to immigration after President Bush leaves office. U.S. Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) nailed it. “Americans feel they are losing their country … to a government that has seemed to not have the competence or the ability to carry out the things that it says it will do.” (U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, incidentally, won re-election this week with his immigration votes.)

A transplant from Florida is said to have purchased a Peachtree Street loft because he was “pleased by the growing urban sophistication of the intown areas.” I can’t crack that code, but apparently it’s something that stops at the river.

I suppose it is true, though. Years ago, most of the gentlemen consuming wine in the urban alleys were stuck on MD 20/20. Now their palates enjoy Thunderbird, Wild Irish Rose and Night Train Express, too. Very sophisticated.

These are “Profiles in Courage” days for Georgia’s Attorney General Thurbert Baker, who’s been given the bum’s rush to ignore the law as written in the Genarlow Wilson case. If a fraction of the energy and attention devoted to this case had been spent promoting marriage and responsible fatherhood, untold millions of young men might be spared his plight.

If your 45-foot wind turbine is so unattractive that it diminishes the value of my property next door, that’s taking — and the neighbors are due either compensation or removal of the offending object. A little neighborhood spat develops among liberals in Grant Park over whether one should be sensibly “green” or fanatically “green.”

Unions, unsuccessful in the workplace, turn to Congress. Legislation that would allow union representation when 50 percent of a work force signed cards, failed in the Senate, 51-48. Sixty votes were needed to move the bill, which would have eliminated the secret ballot in organizing elections. Chambliss and Sen. Johnny Isakson voted right. All six Georgia Democrats in the House signed on with the union bosses as co-sponsors.

I don’t know which is cuter: Emory students planting a “Sustainable Food Initiative Education Garden Project” or intowners paying $145 for their little rain barrels to keep alive squash that can be purchased at the supermarket for a dollar a pound or less.

Country boys dress up in camouflage to go to the Piggly-Wiggly. City boys boot up and trap rainwater and plant sustainable food initiatives. All to demonstrate our incredible survival skills. Me, I’m still hoarding freeze-dried bananas — and don’t dare try to take them. I’ve got camos and I know how to use them.

Holy cow. A questioner asked AJC Q&A researcher Sharon Gaus whatever happened to Tom Stimus, the Forsyth Ford dealer who blanketed TV with commercials years ago. She details a litany of misfortune: bankruptcy, criminal charges later dropped, divorce. She concludes with this further evidence of the poor man’s fate: “and he now lives in Ohio.” Ouch. Surely not Cleveland.

Cobb School Superintendent Fred Sanderson wants to spend $4.4 million to equip seven schools with the latest in electronic equipment, described as interactive electronic whiteboards, electromagnetic digital pads, high-tech speakers, student response systems, etc. For those who came along before the urban area gained its sophistication, those would be chalkboards, notepads, microphones and kids raising their hands.

I’m glad I have a friend who knows the latest wines for drunks - I still thought MD20/20 was the king, unless you were sophisticated enough to drink Raspberry.

harold has seen electronic whiteboards in action. they are virtually always a case of ESO: Equipment Superior to Operator. They’re the biggest waste of money there is.

A 45 foot wind turbine is no bigger than Georgia Power’s utility poles found EVERYWHERE. No uglier either. This is a case of erection envy pure and simple. Other folks dont want to have to buy their own when they cant sell their house due to the Georgia Power monopoly infinitely raping whoever buys it.

However, Harold is worried about the people who erect this wind mill. It’s big. It’s metal. It’s as good as stolen by crackheads for scrap. Hope Harold doesnt get banned here for saying that like on the original story’s blog.

Morning Gene, Harold, others to come. One of these days, Gene, I should arrange a tasting for would-be suburban sophisticates who have allowed their palates to grow stale.

To harold: jim found the blackboard, or chalkboard as it later came to be known, adequate for displaying my math and other subject ignorance. jim agrees with harold that electronic whiteboards would be equipment superior to the needs of most operators.

Don’t know about Saxby Chambliss gaining my vote for his re-election bid based on the email I got in response to expressing my concerns over illegal aliens.

He seems to think that the border security and path to citizenship issues and separate and distinct in the voters minds. He is wrong.

Leak proof borders (including Canada and the coastlines) are a priority for sure. But, millions of illegal aliens who chose to violate our laws as a path to entry along with the business interests that knowingly employ them should be punished. Period.

Allowing these people to stay will have an enormous socio-economic impact on the rest of us. We are the ones that will have to asimilate, not them. You are a fool if you believe otherwise.

Oh, where to begin. “U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, incidentally, won re-election this week with his immigration votes.” WHAT? Whatever! He’s still dirty as they come (been bought and paid for by special interests and Dale Cardwell will total expose him for the slimeball he is in the upcoming election that Saxby will lose).

Blaming “liberals” for the spat over in Grant Park is a.s.s.inine - even for you Jim. Tell me, did you go ask everyone their political affiliation? I happen to know a couple of the loudest ones there are die-hard Bush fanatics. Try a little fact checking before you post your filth online.

Of course you’re against unions. In your mansion you couldn’t care less about real working people. We all know you’re against poor people, blacks and anyone else who isn’t rich and white. Pathetic.

And I’m sure you do laugh at the Emory students. You are a totally wasteful Republican. You don’t recycle, buy low gas-milage cars, laugh at global warming and are totally wasteful in all areas of your life. Obviously you don’t care what happens to other generations once you die. Truly pathetic.

Chambliss may have secured re-election by his Cobb county supporters, but his votes will certainly be remembered by those who deal with the real world of immigrants. There are a god number of vegetable growers in is home area who depend on immigrant labor to remain in business. Without expanded legal work programs, and now with the threat of being labeled felons for being good businessmen, I doubt they think his position was good for ALL of Georgia. You arm chair conservatives need to get out of the Metro area and see what goes down in the real world.

now about securing the borders..

clearly the pacific, atlantic, panama canal and the bering strait are the only secure borders. we have to create a north amerikan union so we can have secure borders.

the north pole will still be unsecured, but if the mexicans can make it here that way then they are probably really hard workers anyway and we should keep them

we will have a bit of a job in the winters though when the bering strait may still freeze (does it still or did we fix that in the name of national security) keeping the commies from coming over from russia. on the plus side huskies are super dogs

I second every single word Morris just said. Close the borders and then prosecute the employers who hire illegals, as well as the people who drive by day labor sites and pick up illegals for the day’s work. There’s no need to send the illegal aliens home. They’ll go on their own as soon as the job opportunities dry up for people who came here illegally.

Thursday’s 5-4 decision striking down race-based school assignment in Louisville, Ky., and Seattle is a good first step in undoing the damage caused by the Brown vs Board decision over 50 years ago. They finally are starting to realize it wasn’t the schools that were different, it is the students. I’m afraid the damage is done though.

What is it with Cobb County schools and their infatuation with technology. Teachers are trying to teach the future validictorian, who is sitting next to the future felon, who is sitting next to some illegal alien who cant speak a lick of English, who is sitting next to a special ed student who is borderline retard. Until you fix THAT, you’re throwing money down the proverbial drain buying the latest technological gizmos.

Chambliss and Isaacson lost my vote when they first sponsored the amnesty bill. All they proved was that they follow the party line until things get too hot at home.

“…intowners paying $145 for their little rain barrels to keep alive squash that can be purchased at the supermarket for a dollar a pound or less.”

Yeah, and that elk meat I brought home from Wyoming last year cost me about $25 per pound. Go figure.

so one last comment from harold.. harold actually has some work to do today.. the people in grant park could more easily sell their neighbors on their wind mill by declaring that it makes them safe from terrorism. when the terrorists attack, the public electrical grid is a target or its failure might just be a byproduct. the way of the future is everybody having their own wind turbine(s) so the terrorists cant take out our entire city just by attacking some totally unsecured Georgia Power coal fire pollution station

so.. wind turbines help make america safe from terrorists.. there ya go. one turbine will result in more REAL safety than 8 years of bush and rove oops cheney combined

WTF is that supposed to mean? Did you forget your pills for dementia again?

These are “Profiles in Courage” days for Georgia’s Attorney General Thurbert Baker, who’s been given the bum’s rush to ignore the law as written in the Genarlow Wilson case.

You may have stepped in it there. The state’s leading expert on habeas law, Donald Wilkes of the University of Georgia, says Baker is wrong.

“I totally reject any claim that the judge did not have the power to resentence the person,” Wilkes says.

It’s not clear why Baker felt compelled to appeal this particular habeas decision but has declined to appeal others that he lost, including a 2002 ruling in which a Chattooga County judge set aside a Fulton County manslaughter conviction.

Baker maintains that he has no choice but to appeal the Wilson ruling to prevent real child molesters from using the decision to their advantage. However, as Baker knows, a habeas ruling by one Superior Court is not binding on any others. It does not set any precedent.

Profiles in courage huh? Try profile in stupidity. It’s a shame that Baker doesn’t realize, like Chamblis and that other guy, that if you pi$$ off enough of your core support, then your chances of getting re-elected again are NIL. But, I bet he’ll learn this soon enough.

Dear Mr. Wooten, As a Proud Black Republican I salute you sir. Another guy at my job called me an unle tom yesterday because I told him the truth about conservatism. We don’t need an amnesty law. Do you know what happened the last time we gave full citizenship to millions. The civil war of 1861 people! You don’t want to slide down that slippery slope again, now do you?I have a comfortable life, I’m up for a promotion again, and I did it without affirmative action. Like I said yesterday, with all of this talk about health disparities, and employment disparities, and educational disparities, give it some time people. It will balance itself out. We don’t need any government programs to help balance that out. We just need hard working Americans.

Speaking of windmills…

I’m looking out my window and there’s not enough breeze blowing to make the leaves on the tree move, much less turn a windmill.

You’ve got to have a pretty good breeze to do anything more than power up a toaster. I don’t think Ga Power’s got anything to worry about.

Windmill - $50,000

Amount of power from windmill - about $20 per month.

Watching an environmentalist go broke by going green - priceless.

The next great revolution in education will NOT come with the support of GAE, PAGE, MACE, or any of the educrats.

But it will come.

The next great revolution in education will be making the homeroom exactly that: a HOME ROOM. This revolution will do away with school buildings and their related infrastructure COMPELTELY and DRAMATICALLY reduce the cost of the education system in this country while ensuring that ALL students have access to the SAME technology, the SAME lessons, and the SAME standards - and that ALL are taught in the EXACT SAME WAY.

The technology exists NOW, my friends. Indeed, the ENTIRE system can be delivered STATE WIDE in as little as two years.

Only educrats and politicians stand in the way.

DO NOT let them block this. We do so at our own peril.

Good morning all. Did I beat the name-jacker today? As a resident of the great state of Georgia for less than 10 years, some of Jim’s entries this morning are outside my cultural acquaintance. Mr. Justice Roberts has cobbled together a working majority to reduce (or at least constrain growth of) the overall “government footprint” in our lives – more power to him.

Although I support “amnesty” for our Hispanic guests, I agree that Mr. Chambliss voted as necessary to win election next year. I will vote for him too, as I am not a single-issue voter. I’ll have to work a bit harder to sell my “small government” views on immigration.

I’ll vote for Mr. Baker too, and my analysis is much the same as my view of Mr. Chambliss. There is an appropriate process for such matters. There is no suggestion that the miscreant Wilson was guilty of the charge, and there is no evidence of remorse for the bad behavior, and there is an abundance of evidence of questionable legal advice flowing his way. Sexual misbehavior creates heroes for our “progressive” friends, so perhaps Wilson should use his spare time writing his autobiography.

I don’t have any real problem with my neighbor erecting a 45 foot wind turbine’ presumably he will not object to my 50 foot brick wall at the edge of the property.

I can understand the Democrats’ opposition to secret ballots in union elections – it is much harder for the thugs to break the right arms if they don’t know who is opposing them. Since I do my shopping at the Korean supermarket, I don’t think much about planting a victory garden.

Two quick thoughts: The windmill issue is not a taking, as it is not the government taking or diminishing your property values, it is a private citizen doing something with his own property. Huge distinction and not one penny of compensation is due, so long as all covenants and codes are being complied with. Second, Chief Justice Roberts is right: the way to end discrimination on the basis of race is to end discrimination on the basis of race. (Same with gender). The goal of providing good education to all children is worthy. The goal of teaching children that all races are of equal value is worthy. The methods being used were bad. Again, huge distinction.

dont the grant parkers realize the windmill may be rather useless for its owners but it makes the neighborhood WAY more attractive to greenie types? nothing could increase property values more than being the neighborhood so green somebody has a windmill

if only those grant park infill homes werent shoddily built and then sat there for a year or two unsold until some republican type buys it on foreclosure and moves in. there goes the neighborhood. yes, there are repsublicans in grant park. look inside the terribly built infill homes with crooked door frames and crooked molding and 4 small-car garages with the SUVs parked in the driveway because they are too long.. heh. those are the grant park republicans. they know something around there is good, and they want in on it, but they just cant damn figure out what it is that’s good about grant park

a wind mill might generate $20 a month of electricity for you at today’s dollar value, but dont forget that georgia power charges you a monthly for the privilege of being their victim uh customer. that’s about $50 as far as harold can tell. so that thing will save them $1000 a year even if it only makes $20 a month of electricity. and it wont charge them a 3x higher price per megawatt in summer either like georgia power does

some things are done for satisfaction. not giving another cent to goergia power would be very satisfying. we have subsidized their expansion all over the damn world. they make countless billions in other states plus south america and africa. we should all be getting our power for free from them by now, but no, instead the corrupt georgia government keeps letting them jack up our rates ever higher and higher

if harold had a spare 50k, harold would erect a wind mill too. your wind mill doesnt petition the PSC to raise your rates every 6 months “because of oil” or whatever lame excuse they use for why their coal plant is suddenly more expensive today

Actually, under my plan it would be natural born Americans teaching ALL subjects/ classes.

The difference is there would be NO more full time teachers (the lessons would be developed each time the standards are changed, but it would be a one-time deal with a standard flat fee paid to the person who developed them), FEW full time graders (I’m thinking MAYBE 1 per 100 students per subject - if that many… might bump it to 1 per 500 students per subject), and virtually NO administrative overheard (particularly at the local level. other than the graders, the only full time people at the local level would be tech support).

We can go from spending BILLIONS on education each year and FAILING to spending MILLIONS and being a world leader again.

Well, that guy with the windmill is just wasting his money. He needs to hook his stuff up directly to the power line and bypass the meter. That’s what I done at the trailer. No bills and all the power I want to use. It just about knocked Joe Bill silly when he was trying to get rid of a wall heater and thought he turned the power off by turning off the meter. Went right through the wall when he touched the wire. Good thing his head went first.

We finally got good conservative Supreme Court judges that will get rid of this integration silliness. I don’t want my grandson little Sonny Zell George going to school with Those People and now he won’t have to. It’s one reason I moved to north Forysth County. Why would I move here if I was going to have to put Sonny Zell George on a bus and ship him 30 miles to some place with alot of Those People? The other reason I moved was to stop drinking someone elses pee. The city people just flush and then drink it again after the water people run it through the pipes.

The people that run the schools are just wasting good hard-earned tax money with all the gadgets they want to use. All they need is a good piece of board to whack the students upside the head when they don’t listen. Anyway, they don’t need more than 5 years of schooling. I never made it out of 5th grade and it never hurt me none. I think the same way as jbmlaw and tftt and they wasted lots of years in school just to think the way I do about things. I was a redneck to start with. They had to go to school to learn to be one.

Of course Saxby has got reelection in the bag. Who else are we going to vote for? Some librul or a crazy libraratarian that wants to get rid of Law and Order and just let people run wild because they don’t have no govmint?

Well, I got a heavy run to make. The Baptists come out of the churches after getting bored by preachers and they have a mighty powerful thirst on Sunday. This is a reminder to crazy Harold to stock up on booze by Saturday night because he sure won’t be making a mockery of my holy day by buying on Sunday.

You want more urban sophistication? Try North Dekalb. There is a funny, funny story there that deals with another funny problem. Like Georgia Power ignoring all zoning laws and using their power of Imminent Domain so they can build a 1 acre sub-station that is literally in the middle of a residential subdivision! Hilarious!

Lots of urban sophistication. Like the power Georgia Power has to build anything it wants wherever it wants without regard to the property values or aesthetics of the neighborhood. Ha!

Lots of urban sophistication. Whatever the code word for “not-in-my-backyard-Republican voting-McMansion-Gadget,-gadget,-Air conditioning,-No-tax,White,- Electric, Dunwoody homeowners” is.

Urban Sophistication. The Georgia Public Utilities Commission doesn’t even know if they have any say or power over what or where Georgia Power builds! “Its never come up.”

LMAO! Why couldn’t Georgia Power put that sub-station in Grant Park!

• These are “Profiles in Courage” days for Georgia’s Attorney General Thurbert Baker, who’s been given the bum’s rush to ignore the law as written in the Genarlow Wilson case. If a fraction of the energy and attention devoted to this case had been spent promoting marriage and responsible fatherhood, untold millions of young men might be spared his plight, said Jim Wooten.

Jim, we should pause a moment to reflect, observe African Americans. The women adorn their hair with clownish colors, red, gold, green, yellow, orange, blond, etc. The men wear earrings in their ear similar to women; their learned men and women are disconnected from reality and void of understanding. This bizarre outer appearance is a reflection of the inner turmoil within.

To suggest if a fraction of the energy and attention devoted to the Genarlow Wilson case had been spent promoting marriage and responsible fatherhood, untold millions of men might be spared of Genarlow’s plight is extremely short sighted or misleading.

Let’s face reality. A person has to be disconnected from reality to seriously challenge the decision of people who feed, clothe shelter, educate, and employ a whole ethnic group, African Americans. Meeting the basic needs of your own people is a sacred task. It is a tie that binds individuals to their respective groups. Whoever takes on that task for another group in them we live, and move, and have our being.

When African Americans allowed other people to supply their basic needs via integration, they sacrificed the right to have respectful participation in America and among nations of the earth. Presently, none has worth to society. They have succumbed to orchestrated successful individuals who mislead the masses for money, fame, jobs, status, security, under the cover of integration, coming together.

African Americans should build institutions capable of meeting their basic needs. Institutions provide credible African American leaders the power to socialize and transform the masses of black people.

Obviously, if a people don’t have the ability to socialize and transform the masses through their institutions, and orchestrated leaders don’t understand the significance of socialization through institutions, no amount of positive instructions can alter or abolish their present plight.

sure jeff, under YOUR plan it would be all white americans teaching english, but once the computer facilities are in place for the teacher to be so much as down the hall, they might as well be in india costing pennies on the dollar. there is no stopping that. if you can tell somebody EXACTLY what needs done (ie a lesson plan for teachers), you can outsource their job and save big money

so.. make electronic classrooms and you’ve given our kids Dell Indian teachers. Around here that is probably better than what they have, but the teachers union sure isnt going to like it. This is why teachers pretend not to be able to learn how to operate technology. Many go as far as to break it intentionally.

Dang Jim, are you saying that black & white photography is back in vogue? It does tend to cover the flaws.

Amen to Senator Corker. I want reassurances that the promises already made will be kept before being asked to trust in the new ones. What’s old is new again don’t cut it with me. I don’t give my old stuff to “the goodwill”, I carry it to the “Salvation Army”.

So which area of the city is it that’s trendy? Uptown, downtown, or intown? I’ve never been able to keep that straight. I’m “out-of-town” where nobody gives a fashionable rat’s tail.

Ooohhhhh noooooo! Are you telling me that there’s a “green nimby” on the loose in the Grant Park area. Has anybody checked the zoo to see if a gate was left open. A rare creature, that one….nocturnal I would assume.

Jim, you CAN buy squash under a dollar a pound, but you have to drive to the market to get them. Figure in the cost of gas and the impact on the environment and you’ve got yourself a green thumb-ing your nose at the liberals. Try to be more consciencious, spend $145 for that “petroleum” by-product plastic barrel. Save the planet…grow a squash.

Are your frozen bananas black Jim? Mine are. They make great banana bread.

$4.4 million to equip seven schools with the latest in technology. When was the last time you visited a classroom? Before long that electronic whiteboard will be covered with all means of assorted crap. I swear…too much visual stimuli in the classrooms. Is it any wonder so many children suffer from ADD and ADHD?

Being a conservative Black person, I abhor the notion of Affirmative Action or any other quota system. However, we all need to remember why these policies were instituted. My Father grew up in the Segregated South, was forced against his will to attended sub par schools, was raised by ignorant people since Blacks, for decades, were denied quality education. Without Affirmative Action, he would not have been able to get a decent job, which allowed him to adequately take care of his family. Was he qualified for the job? Probably not, but he grew into the position and did well. When he retired, the company had to hire two people (both were white by the way) to do all the work he did.

Fact is when a country authorizes racism against certain people, separates those people from the mainstream; a sub culture of ignorance will be created. That ignorance will last for decades even after the laws are changed. Any sociologist will tell you most people remain in the same social structure where raised. Affirmative Action or any other quota system will not work if the hearts and minds of people don’t change. Generally, Blacks still distrust Whites and Whites still have vestiges of that old racist way of thinking. We really need to face the fact that one the pillars of American society is racism. I hate Affirmative Action but what really gets under my skin is the white mainstream thinking that everything is equal since the laws have changed. BASED ON EXPERIENCE, I WOULD RATHER BE RAISED IN THE MAINSTREAM WITHOUT AFFIRMATIVE ACTION THAN IN THE BLACK SUB CULTURE WITH AFFIRMATIVE ACTION. I am not saying I want to be white ( I really like being who I am), but what I am saying is most whites don’t realize their advantages.

Isakson and Chambliss are dishonest mental midgets whose initial despicable destroy GA/USA vote was ONLY reversed out of fear when real Americans who care about their country and its future deluged their tax payer funded offices with threats of permanent angry electoral disaffection. If a better, less cynical, less cowardly GOP senate candidate emerges for either seat we’ll definitely vote for him/her.

Funny how the leftist scum noisily screech about SCOTUS only when they lose. When the court panders to and supports liberal causes/issues everything is fine and hunky dory - HYPOCRITICAL LEFTIST SCUM!! Crackpipe’s pathetic racebaiting puke this morning is most pleasing. Manufacturing and imposing diversity is a vile public policy. The evil racial spoils blacks don’t give a sh!te about diversity - all they care about is how deep their gimme gimme snouts sink into the racial spoils trough - and how much party of hate one sided UNFAIR media lies/distortions they can wallow like preening bigoted hogs in. I can (almost) hear the black screeching now if there was a new group in Atlanta called Concerned White Clergy.

Watching inbred rednekkk’s cowardly pathetic racebaiting poison this week has been mildly entertaining. NO - I don’t “hate” you inbred. Happily I don’t know you and hopefully never will, except from TV footage one day as your anti-black racism finally bubbles up into some kind of nazi like murderous outrage. I naturally despise your unremitting racism and anti-black hate which is undeniably heartfelt and very typical of far left liberals who just use blacks and pander to them to get power and then ignore them or patronise them.

The sluttish narcissistic celebutard trollope P Hilton lied through its perfect pearly white teeth on Larry King’s nearly alive about its blatant drug abuse. It also couldn’t even muster one bible quote, giving the lie to its self serving “I got religion in jail” bollocks. Funny how the leftist CNN dogturds completely ignored all this and much more - just to get the 9pm ratings boost.

Bruce Willis has absolutely the right idea about how to treat the sick and twisted eco whacko giant lying hypocrite alBOre … mercilessly ridicule it. Bruce hilariously (wearing a battery operated windmill on his head on LIEtterman) suggested he had a new film to watch called “An Unappealing Hunch” - hilariously parodying the alBore’s worthless deranged Goebbels like lies and propaganda that unthinking liberal lemmings fall over their supercilious queer loving gushing selves to gush like broken sewers over.

Now the dust has settled from the glorious George I sullenly ignore the American peoples’ will on immigration Bush defeat and the equally pleasing leftist GOP traitor senate scum humiliation on the illegal leeches bill its time to start rounding up the leeches and swiftly throw em ALL back to Mexico and the other (mostly) THird World dumps they slithered in from.

Who cares what leftist turds want/do in midtown or Grant park or wherever!! Let them ruin the place and fight with each other to the eco whacko death. Its just what lefties do!! It would be freaking hilarious if (at least) one INSHALLAH of them ended up swinging from an eco windmill as yet another moronic GreenPEE (gedditt??) protest or whatever!! Make a great prime time Sundance movie … The selfless pointless Death of a windmill loving smug leftist lentil munching global whining drooling wanker!! YAWWWWNNNNNNN!!

We need to thank the mental health authorities in VT for finally taking Oedipus NAMBLA’s poisonous stolen laptop from it. Mercifully it hasn’t (at the time of this writing) yet puked up its usual bile.

Seevn more years or so for the hippety hop lovin’, video taping pervert Wilson to serve … at least justice is seen to be done in this case!!

Saxby, how can you be on both sides of the fence? Besides leaving a mark, that’s gotta hurt!!

Thurbert “I AM Hair club for Men” Baker, Mr. McDade, and the wishy washy Judge, to the letter of the law, they are right. However, if this were some upper echelon young male, IT NEVER WOULD HAVE GOTTEN THIS FAR!! McDade, cannot sit there and try to look “innoncent” what purpose did it serve to bring the young man up on felony charges? Mr. Baker, as the senior legal counsel in the State, you could have been proactive and reigned Mr. McDade in. But instead, you’ve created this firestorm. My Sweet Jesus, are we trying to get as much ink out of this as possible. We know what the law states, but the initial overreation by the prosecution and its obvious zeal to deal with an obvious “felon” has caused this major phuck up. So I think the good citizen’s of Georgia would not mind a little sensibility on the part of our officials in resolving this modern day lynching. Question: Will the media and our officials treat the Barbie bandits the way they’ve treated Mr. Wilson? Oh, they got sent home from the lock up BEFORE trial because roberry isn’t as felonious as being charged with a rape (that was consented too), and having received oral sex (from a willing participant who even her monther has said her child was willing). And you wonder why the nation refers to Atlanta as a town fraught with ignoramuses. Way to go Thurbert, maybe they’ll extend your membership to the Hair Club. You certainly have earned it.

Lets all ensure that Saxby Shameless is one and done.

Like Gingrich and Barr, he is just another Republican embarrassment to Georgia.

Think not? Here’s just part of his stellar resume.

During the Vietnam War, Chambliss was given a student deferment so he could attend law school. (Great! Just what we need - ANOTHER lawyer).

After that, he received a medical deferment because of a “bad knee”. (At least like another GOP chickenhawk, Jack Kemp, he didn’t “soldier” on as an NFL quarterback for 8 years with that malady).

And let’s NEVER forget those Rove-inspired television ads that paired images of Cleland and Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein.

Or the coward’s questioning the courage of his opponent, a triple amputee and decorated Vietnam veteran.

And what did the ONLY 2 non-draft dodging GOP US Senators say?

Republican Senator John McCain of Arizona said of one ad, “It’s worse than disgraceful, it’s reprehensible.”

Reprehensible! He’s much to classy to call Chambliss a scumbag.

Republican Senator Chuck Hagel of Nebraska said the ads were “beyond offensive to me.”

I get the feeling Hagel would still like to drag old Saxby behind the Capitol building and kick his teeth in.

And ANYONE who gets a 100% approval rating from the Christian Coalition needs to be thrown the hell out of Washington DC at the very first opportunity.

descent - derivation from an ancestor; lineage; extraction.

Regarding UNIONS, I can see it now.

Billy Bob stops Stan in the parking lot and tells him to either sign his card or get a broken arm.

Sounds like the 50’s again. Bring back Jimmy Hoffa.

The secret ballot is a just and reasonable tool. It is the bases for our elections and should never be abridged, for anything. If the Unions can’t convince enough workers that they need a Union, then maybe they don’t.

Personally, I quit the last union I belonged to. They lied to my face and I quit the next day.

Unions are an anachronism. Something to be thrown on the trash heap of mankind.

Good morning all, I am a long time lurker who must give Debbie a little information about R. Kelly.

Mr. Kelly indeed was nominated and given an Image Award AFTER the child molestation charges. Until that happened I was a supporter of the NAACP. That day I vowed the organization would never see a dime of my money or time.

As a black woman, I have conflicted feelings about the Wilson case. It is time that young men learn that you can not objectify women and get away with it. I am not sure that he nor his advisors comprehend the magnitude of what he and his friends have done. Their behavior was unexcusable. It was more than just sex between two teens.

On the other hand, do I believe he should get ten years? No, that is too much time in jail for the ages of the teens in question.

Until we (the community WE) teach our teens that they are accountable for their actions and that actions have consequences, situations like the Wilson case will continue to happen.

He is now reaping the consequence of his action. It’s a hard lesson to learn.

Also, I am not a conservative nor super liberal. I tend to learn libertian since moving to Georgia.

I proudly and sensibly despise moderates as much as I do the far left… they are incapable of thinking out issues, they have NO core beliefs, no moral compass - just an obsessive envy and disdain for those who have core values/beliefs.

judging from your own rabid hyperventilating on here you are just yet another should have been aborted leftist despicably posing as a moderate to make your nasty sick treasonous worthless points!!

I very reasonably inferred from your black racist/bigoted dribble which included the unsupported assertions that “generally blacks dont trust whites” and that (paraphrasing) “whites are still (often enough) racist” that you’re a bigot/racist.

people who openly boast about their socioeconomic status on blogs are usually nowhere near having achieved what they claim … if you have then fine - good for you … but its a puerile pathetic nauseating way to sullenly make a weak racebaiting point.

my own “racist language” …HA HA HA merely very fair pragmatic comment mate. I do NOT consider blacks to be “inferior” which is the ‘original’ PRIMARY meaning of racist. Black hippety hop culture is undeniably thuggish, racist, sexist etc. black on black crime and the 70% black bastard rate etc is something few black leaders ever do anything about. the sullen racoal spoils agenda is despicable as is the demand for racist quotas - as demanded by pandering liberals purely for vote buying reasons.

I hardly ever go to Alpharetta - its full of nasal whining smug noxious yanKKKees. :)

*You may have stepped in it there. The state’s leading expert on habeas law, Donald Wilkes of the University of Georgia, says Baker is wrong.

“I totally reject any claim that the judge did not have the power to resentence the person,” Wilkes says.*

As others have already said, Mr. Wilkes is sitting in his office at UGA. The esteemed professor can toot any opinion he wants out of his bunghole, he’s not the one doing real work. He’s not the one who will have to deal with the fallout if real child molesters file habeas based on Genarlow’s Get Outta Jail Free Cause We’re All Worked Up card.

There is a crowd right now who will be satisfied by nothing less than a complete discarding of the legal system just to prove their power to play the race card. I admire Baker for not jumping on that bandwagon. He offered a deal to basically release Genarlow now, and not have him listed as a sex offender. That’s not enough for his mob, they want open season for African-American girls for young African-American men.

jct: I too am a black woman who knows that we as women also have to suffer the consequences for our actions.

Yes, Wilson and his buds were wrong; but is it a greater wrong than the two young ladies who agreed to participate in the behavior?

As you stated earlier, you, just like a large portion of the black community, myself included, are conflicted about certain aspects of our culture that seems to contradict our strict moral upbringing. On our radio stations you can here a 3 Deep Mafia song and a Kirk Franklin song played back to back; without anyone consciously realizing the glaring disparities of either genres being played at the same time; on the same show. That’s part of our culture.

There’s a blues song that says “The eagle flies on friday and saturday I go out to play, sunday I go to church and kneel down and pray.” Because black america doesn’t hide its inconsistencies, as some other cultures do, nor tries to apologize for what we are, we are often seen as being “substandard” because we don’t wish to act, talk, or think “European”.

Yes. Mr. Wilson was wrong; but as I stated earlier, if he and the young lady in question had consentual “missionary position” sex, he’d never have been convicted in the first place.

This moral outrage, IMO, is misplaced and basically he, Wilson, is being sentenced because we, the people, didn’t like his behavior, which didn’t hurt anyone, not even the young lady in question.

It is hugely amusing, to use a phrase coined by the vile racist tftt, to see the nativists and rednecks gloating about their temporary victory over the immigration bill.

While they vainly hope for a savior who will initate a deportation that will put the Nazis’ roundup of the European Jews to shame, every day children of the illegals are born as legal citizens. And every presidential election, another two million of those citizens become eligible to vote. While the deriders of the immigration bill sip their five-dollar double lattes and toy with their laptops in Starbucks, the illegals are producing even more U.S. citizens. Meanwhile, the Hispanic vote in this country just shifted from 60-40 in favor of Democrats to 80-20.

Enjoy your temporary victory and your conservative Supreme Court while you can. You are going to hate ‘08, and you will hate ‘12, ‘16, ‘20, ad infinitum, even more. Soon, the rumblings of conservatives will sound as quaint as the 18th Century arguments of Edmund Burke. Prepare to be the permanent minority.

If you had been listening to the news, other than CNN or the democrat talking points, no conservative has called for immediate deportation of anyone.

We want the borders sealed to illegals Penalties for the employers hiring illegals and the illegals for using false documentation to get a job. If an illegal is convicted of a crime, they get deported and no path to citizenship for the illegals currently here.

It is about self esteem, character, peer pressure, acting in a way that honors your body spirit, etc.

See there are things that I can’t accept as status quo. I won’t listen to those radio stations that you mention. I have a teen age son who is not allowed (channels blocked) to view MTV or BET and other channels unless I unlock it.

I believe we are in agreement in some respects. I agree with your comments on Hip Hop, so called “Black Leaders” (don’t assume all Blacks are in agreement with these people) etc. My comments are based on 41 years living in America and achieving my current economic status (BTW, if you think I am lying does not matter to me). What I am attempting to do is outline some basic facts of race relations in this country. I lived in an all Black environment for the first half of my life and mostly white for the second half. I can tell you from experience blacks do not trust whites and Whites still have vestiges racism. You would know this if you experienced the dinner conversations and other social situations in the black community. Also, I have been around whites when, for some reason they forget I am present, the “N” word is used and other racial comments are made. no race baiting here. just stating the facts based on my experience.

Immigration Reform has hurt all of America. We have our elected officials fighting for the rights, liberty and the persuit of happiness for illegals and right at their back door on the Hill, you see more homelessness and people from their own states; yet, they are not on the floor battling for their rights! We need a Changing of the Guards immediately on the Hill! Every school here in America needs revamping, it should have been done a long time ago…and, it should never be waiting in line because of the thousand of children who wants to learn and make decent people of themselves. Actually, we have cheated our children and america has cheated itself. But, we can’t even do that either! Race, we all come from different backgrounds, something we can’t help. We have those who want to be other than what their race says they are; and we have those who are henpeck about their race. We even have those who will use the “Race Card” as necessary. None of that will do anyone any good because we are who we are and no matter howe you try to change it, you can’t! Intown Life, its what people want to do. We make our own decisions, good or bad. We must live with them after we have made them. Don’t wait for help because its not coming to you, nor will it take center stage. Beause of high fuel cost and long commute, people are moving back and giving up Urban and Country Living. Its what America do! I can’t give a world view; I live, work, play here in Georgia. We are in a world of hurt. We have murders, crimes, and people can’t work to have a decent way of life beause of so much indecent things that is going on. We have not even tryed to pull our resources together and we have fail eachother by not giving them an opportunity to work for a decent wage and to take care of their families. What we have done is hire everyone who is not an America and pay them wages in order to keep the bucks in our pockets. A sad day in America is begun to show!

Two Friday funnies -

Voinovich got ripped to shreds on Hannity’s radio show on Wednesday. The moron couldn’t even estimate how much the amnesty bill would cost US taxpayers, and himself admitted that he really didn’t even read it. The punch line? As an electrical engineer at Tech I feel obligated to say that all of this ‘cutting edge’ school technology is a waste of money. Simply being around a lot of technology doesn’t help kids learn any better. Sure projectors and such make it a lot easier to take in front of a 200 person lecture hall, but if we’re talking about a high school class of 30 people then a chalk board will work just fine! Save the millions of dollars that would have been wasted on gadgets teachers wouldn’t use and kids wouldn’t appreciate, and use it to pay for higher quality teachers and books.

The Judge got the race issue right on the money. You can’t cure racism with racist policies. And the immigrant amnesty proposal is the dumbest idea this government has ever had. Since when do we throw up our hands and embrace criminals? There is a huge difference between a free America and a lawless America. And if a business cannot sustain itself with legal workers, then they need to shut their doors and consider taking their businesses to Mexico where they need the help apparently.

RCH,

When I lived in Alpharetta, my house was in the Colony Glen subdivision off of Jones Bridge Rd. Slavery in African terms was different than in America. In Africa, slaves had rights and owners could be fined if mistreatment occurred. Slaves could also own other slaves themselves and could purchase their freedom. In America, a slave had no rights and was the subject of rape and other mistreatment. My comment was directed towards the treatment blacks received after 1865 (the year slavery ended). Again, blacks did not start that.

African Americans can’t have white people acting racist. They have got to feed us. They have got to clothe us. They have got to shelter us. They have got to employ us etc.

Charles,

Your comment “African Americans have problems with so-called racism because they can’t provide for their basic needs”

may have some truth to it but it is way to general. I have no problem supplying my needs but still deal with racism.

When I lived in the North suburbs, I was driving along and a white man on the side of the road fell. I stopped and three or four other cars (white people) stop immediately to help this guy . A year later, I was out jogging and hurt my foot. I hopped and crawled almost two miles before any one stopped to help me. Based on my experience, how could I think that not receiving help from my neighbors was due to anything other than racism? Many of you need to pull your heads out of the sand, take off those rose colored glasses and see the reality of the race in this country.

So, now that the “young lady” is 19 and an unwed mother we should just assume her mother’s lack of parenting is all that is responsible for her plight in life.

Let us recap. At 15 she was drunk and being used by older boys as a sex toy at a party. At 19 she is unwed and a mother who will most certainly instill the same values in her child.

I live in one of Atlanta’s forested neighborhoods (much like Grant Park)….I don’t get direct sunlight on my house for more than 30 minutes on any one spot. A few weeks back I went out to Hall County to pick up some granite rock. It was a new subdivision, where they scraped all the trees off and put up McMansions. At one construction site they’d dumped a bunch of refuse granite rock in a big pile and I’d asked if I could have it. The builder said, yeah, take it…I’m just going to bury it anyway because it’s trash. So, I went out there with my truck and spent about an hour sifting through rock. And I have never been so freaking hot in my entire life. The sun was just beating me down and baking my skin into a crisp.

And then I got home, where my truck’s weather station told me it was 10 degrees cooler than up in Hall County.

Talk about an ignorant stereotype of a city!

DebbieDoRight@12:03 .” Because black america doesn’t hide its inconsistencies, as some other cultures do, nor tries to apologize for what we are, we are often seen as being “substandard” because we don’t wish to act, talk, or think “European”.

You seem to take an almost perverse pride in saying that “standards and values may be fine homilies but don’t expect us to actually live up to them because we don’t want to appear European.” Everytime I hear the casual dismissals of deviant behavior as being “judgmental” I have to wonder what values do stand for something? If you are content to live in a community where no one is to account for themselves, fine however there are consequences.

When everything is overlooked and excused, could there be any relation between that the casual approach to values that you are so proud of and the disproportionate crime levels of your community. Or would it be racist to suggest such a thing?

Harold…you’re not 100% right. There’s a bunch of us 30-40 year olds who deliberately move ITP from OTP because we want to raise our kids with the right set of family values.

OTPers live where they live because it’s what they can afford. And then they justify it by coming up with thread-of-truth stereotypes of ITP to make themselves feel better.

I used to live OTP because I bought into the suburban dream.

And realized I really wanted an urban one.

Adam@2:54,

You have nailed the problem. Until the Lil Debbies of the world recognize that cultural differences just for the sake of claiming a cultural difference is a waste of time and counter-productive there will not be “equality”.

The reports of blacks accusing their fellow black students of “trying to be too white” when they make good grades is disturbing. Does that then mean to be black you must be an academic failure or you do not fit in?

Along those same lines the black community seems to be saying in the Wilson case that the behavior on the videotapes is “just what we do in our culture” - or lack thereof.

The outcry over the Wilson case seems to be supporting an idea that a 15 year old girl is capable of consent when in the presence of older boys and young men whom she sees as someone to look to for acceptance. Ply them with alcohol and then use the 15 year olds is acceptable?

Do you think she sat by the phone for a few days wondering why they don’t call?

This uproar over the case is a poor commentary on the culture and the “leaders” who dismiss this as “just oral sex among teenagers”. Sad, sad, sad.

I lived ITP for over 25 years and would never consider going back. Crime, corrupt government, high taxes, and a rotting infrastructure are more than I could stand.

I live now in one of Harold’s hated, gated communities in Forsyth County and I can hardly imagine Atlanta is any more diverse. All races and religions are present and we have a strong social program that excludes no one.

ITP or OTP is just a matter of choice and the people in one are generally no different than the other. The Atlanta crime is, I imagine, more a result of density and opportunity due to the poverty that is more prevalent ITP.

I guess they have clear video evidence showing who the car bomber was in London. London Police have issued an arrest warrant for Farfour, the Islamic Mickey Mouse seen on Al Jeezera in a terrorist’s Romper Room show.

Farfour received global attention when he was broadcast teaching young Islamists how to rig silly putty to explode using only leggos and an easy bake oven.

Police claim the video clearly shows a diapered Farfour staggering from the Mercedes he had just parked in the market square in London.

He’s a bad mouse. He’s a VERY bad mouse.

If this is what’s left of the global war on terror, then we’ve won. The cars were parked illegally and immediately drew attention. The suicide part of suicide bomber has apparently proved too much of a sacrifice for dumb upwardly mobile shia terrorists (Dumbshiites) enjoying the good life that freedom and democracy provide in the west. “Yes, I want to kill and maim, but I dont want to get bloodied up, after all, there is a one day sale at Bloomingdales on Wednesday……. What?”

Remember that video of al queda leaders dispatching teams of terrorists to all points of the compass last week? This couldn’t have been them, because they wouldn’t have abandoned those cars. This was homegrown weekend terrorists who think they’ve got too much to live for to actually blow themselves up.

That’s a good sign. If Osama’s alive, he’s probably ranting about the good old days when they didn’t have any fancy mercedes or high tech detonators, no, when they wanted to blow things up, they’d pour gasoline on a bunch of baby seals, set them on fire, and turn them loose in an oil refinery. That’s the way it was and they liked it!

Does anyone else find it funny that both political parties are pinning their hopes on two New Yorkers who are trying very hard to portray themselves as something other than what they really are?

One, A RINO is the GOP front runner and the party faithful are just praying that he doesn’t forget how to act Republican.

Next is another Christian RINO, this one from ultra-liberal Massachusetts. His problems? His religion isn’t Christian enough for the “base” and he is opposed to the public stoning of gays.

Then another part-time RINO who is both a war-hero and a wimp who wouldn’t stand up to the Rove slur machine. He is desperate to close the gap though, so he’s off to Baghdad for photo ops with the troops.

Next, a quasi-Libertarian from Texas, is the only candidate (and only 1 of 7 GOP congressmen!) with the guts to have voted no to authorize you-know-who to do you-know-what. So at least he is worthy of respect for that. But not nearly rabid enough on most conventional GOP planks.

And there is also great Republican hopes that two “imaginary” candidates can somehow save the day. One, an apparently lazy actor, is envisioned as our next national savior, I mean Ronald Reagan. And the other is a bright but notoriously nutty congressman from our very own Georgia.

I give the following odds to win the nomination:

Rudy 5-2

Mitt, Newt 9-1

McCain, F. Thompson 15-1

Brownback, Huckabee, Tancredo, T. Thompson 30-1

Tancredo, Gilmore 50-1

JH@6:01pm yesterday:

Are you suggesting Wilson is in jail as a result of white bigotry? Or, that the number of blacks in jails is a result of white bigotry? Or, that the higher crime rate in black areas is a result of white bigotry? Are you suggesting the Attorney General is a white bigot?

You and DebbieDoRight are of the same voice. The evil white man is responsible for all of the negatives the blacks have to endure.

No personal responsibility for their crimes, no recognition of the enduring cultural problems in the black community - as Debbie said the black culture is proud of their “differences” and simply recognizes their little issues as something for which to be proud.

The Wilson case is not an injustice but a classic example of the failure to recognize an endemic evil in the black community. The black community seems to revere their own Mothers and objectify all other women. Ply a 15 year old girl with alcohol, use her for sexual gratification and then move on with no regard to the damage to the girl or to society.

White bigotry indeed!

You and DebbieDoRight are of the same voice. The evil white man is responsible for all of the negatives the blacks have to endure.

Nice leap of faith Einstein. And excellent hyperbole! Very powerful indeed. Too bad for you that it is just completely fallacious.

Not that my opinion is all that relevant, but I believe that all people are responsible for their choices and consequences. Good and bad, black and white, rich and poor. We all create our own destinies. And promiscuity among minors, to me, is just plain stupid and but one example of really poor morals.

And the people in black communities who have made terrible choices are indeed responsible for their fate. Just as is true for all other people in all other communities.

But of course, your credibility just went in the toilet with your asinine assumptions about “the evil white man is responsible…blah, blah, blah”. But I get the strong feeling that won’t stop you from continuing down that road.

Picture this scenario. A bright WHITE student with a promising athletic career, amongst others, gets a hummer from a 15 year old white girl at a party.

Of course, the girl still gets vilified as a sl-ut. Doubly so had she been black. The boy? Who knows? Probably congratulated. Or at the very least, in most cases, his transgression would be ignored or swept under the covers. But 15 years?

Are you of the belief that all of our racial inequities have been eliminated in this nation and that the table has been completely leveled in terms of whites and blacks? And that there now exists this magnificent Utopia, where justice is truly blind and where whites and blacks are always treated the same in the USA?

And where is all of your righteous indignation and “analysis” of the white communities crimes and shortcomings? Will that be forthcoming any time soon. I think not. But you certainly seem an expert on noting the “endemic evils” of blacks.

But the reality is that if minors engaging in consensual oral sex is against the law, it’s against the law. And if people don’t like it they can work towards changing it.

But just as important a point in all of this, is that I don’t recall it EVER happening to a white kid in Georgia, do you? So actually a better description of it would be “selective racial justice”, don’t you think?

And quit relying on irrelevant red herrings such as black kids being chastised for acting and speaking too white as that has NOTHING to do with this case. Nor the position of people who try to justify it. And your heavy use of stereotypes and ad hominem attacks on the The black community seems to…objectify all other women is also shortsighted and worthless. Some do, many don’t. So what?

So in closing, quit doing your Ann Coulter imitation and stop trying to put words in other people’s mouths, including my own. And then wake up and smell the coffee about the state of race relations that still exists in 2007 Georgia.

But just as important a point in all of this, is that I don’t recall it EVER happening to a white kid in Georgia, do you?

More than half of the nearly 190 people in Georgia prisons sentenced for aggravated child molestation when they were younger than 21 are white, according to state Department of Corrections statistics.

JH,

Well, I guess I have been rightly put into place.

Please forgive me for the misunderstanding.

How was I to know that where you are from, “White bigotry, white bigotry, white bigotry in a white run system” is just intelligent repartee? Just another way of making a well thought comment on a great social injustice.

Then just as your entire diatribe, the most egregious charge you made about no whites being charged, is summarily refuted by another reader.

Oh yes, the “white run system” part is laughable. The AG following the letter of the law in the case is - black. So, following your astoundingly deep train of thought, the only chance young Wilson had was to commit his crime in Atlanta and/or in Fulton or DeKalb County, where the political structure is BLACK RUN.

I hope you will at least do enough research to find that white and black criminals have been ignorant enough to video their crimes. In all the cases of which I have knowledge the film stars were convicted and sentenced for their lack of morality compounded by a lack of intelligence.

The points I made in the post to which you refer were all made in news reports on the subject, and the points were made by other blacks.

Commenting is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. M-F
