Katrina fraud; Atlanta crime; and rail lines
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Thinking Right’s Friday free-for-all. Pick a topic:
• Give state School Superintendent Kathy Cox and the state board credit for the better performance on a more rigorous curriculum and tests. “We’re seeing success because the kids are better prepared, the teachers are better prepared and we’re doing some of the right stuff,” she said. When competent leaders are on the right course, my advice is to leave them be.
• Thousands of state and local employees in Louisiana got both their regular paychecks and unemployment compensation after Hurricane Katrina, according to a state audit, which put the numbers at 5,439 and $10 million. And, by the way, New Orleans Congressman William Jefferson, a Washington culture-of-corruption Democrat, was indicted Monday on charges of racketeering, money-laundering and soliciting bribes. I’m beginning to see how and why crooks such as Edwin Edwards get elected.
• No problem here with laws that prohibit registered sex offenders from lingering, living or working near where children congregate. But when a day care center locates where offenders live or work, it should be the owner’s burden to find out and notify parents, not the offender’s to quit his job or move. The exception would be that once the public is notified that the site will be a day care center, no offender can move or take a job nearby. This case is before the Georgia Supreme Court. It’s the airport test: You move in on it, the noise is your problem. It moves to you, it’s theirs.
• If activists succeed in using the courts to force Medicaid to pay for abortions when the woman’s “health” is at risk, it’ll be a clear-cut example of judges legislating from the bench. The standard now is “life” of the woman. “Health” is the loophole that guts abortion restrictions. The Georgia Supreme Court is hearing activists’ appeal from a Fulton Superior Court judge’s decision to toss their claim.
• Georgia Big Labor leader Richard Ray expresses the sentiments of us all in sizing up politicians — in this case, Dale Cardwell, a TV journalist running as a Democrat against DeKalb CEO Vernon Jones for the party’s U.S. Senate nomination. Said Ray of Cardwell: “He’s got some good ideas. Some I’m kind of shaky on.” Journalists who seek public affirmation of our unpopularity are trolling for rejection.
• Set a withdrawal deadline to get the people out of Atlanta: 110 of them were killed last year.
• An Atlanta area group visiting Vancouver, British Columbia, to discover how to deal with gridlock in Atlanta heard leaders say traffic “congestion is our friend,” reports one of the participants. For those in public office who agree, the ballot box is our friend. Fix it or go.
• A better use for rail lines is not to haul people short distances — say from here to Lovejoy or Athens — but to haul trucks. Norfolk Southern plans a $2 billion-plus rail corridor stretching from New Jersey to Louisiana, through Georgia, to divert truck traffic from highways. If I’m asked to pay a subsidy, my choice would be one like this that could actually reduce highway congestion. Virginia’s kicking in $40 million in seed money.
• Don’t know the mayor of Doraville, Ray Jenkins, but he’s earned a warm place in my heart for his handling of a petition from a group of residents opposed to a proposed Asian shopping center. Residents want stores that sell “traditional American food,” said the petition-gatherer. It’s the kind of phrase that’ll get you pilloried in a politically correct world. When the woman tried to read the petition at a council meeting, Jenkins stopped her. “They meant well,” he said. “I think they just didn’t research before wording.” The petition is no reason to deny the development, of course. I hate it when an ordinary citizen’s ill-chosen words are used to represent a class or a community as bigoted.
• Gov. Sonny Perdue and Faith & Values section columnist Lorraine V. Murray are right in the advice they offer: Pray for rain. But surely somebody will insist that Sonny is guilty of some church-and-state crime or of poor leadership for failing to find a government solution to the drought and wildfires.

Good morning all. Cover up Jim – you offered an argument in defense of “sex offenders.” You are absolutely correct on your logic and on the merits, but that won’t indemnify you from the critics. Like most of our over-legislating, the “sex offender” appellation is so loosely applied that many drunken mistakes in judgment qualify. I know there are some bad folks out there, but I’ll bet fewer than half of the crimes of the “sex offenders” are the sort that would cause a normal thinking person any real concern, at least not if they knew the details. Good thing you are not running for Senate, but sometimes you have to break some eggs to make an omelet.
I have mixed feelings about Medicaid abortions. 99%+ abortions are evil of course, but good conservative girls do not have abortions. Every Medicaid abortion keeps another leftist from drawing on the public welfare. Still, it almost seems Nazi-like to fund the pre-birth execution of leftists that way, almost like eugenics. Strange that only leftists really want to execute leftists that way.
I don’t think I even know what traditional American food is. Mrs. jbmlaw, on our normal Thursday night out, is usually torn between Mexican, Chinese, Italian, or salad bar (although last night I talked her into Ryan’s – I guess the Americans won for a change? Don’t tell the leftists, it will spoil their day.)

Nice Cherry Pick about New Jersey rail Jim.
But you failed to mention that NJT already has extensive networks of people moving trains serving most of suburban NJ. This is done in cooperation with NS.
Take a look at this map:
Two weeks ago I was in the city, and besides being able to move around freely via a subway, I was able to go visit friends in NJ via commuter rail. It would be the equivalent of going from Atlanta to Canton, but without a car.
That was really nice. Too bad Georgia and Atlanta lack leadership and foresight in this area.

That’s funny because I can remembe when the students did poorly, you blamed students and parents alone. But when they do well, Cox gets the credit? That’s a neat trick…

Please cite exactly WHICH grade and subject shows a substantial improvment in CRCT scores? To be significant it needs to be at least 5% higher.

Oh God, yes Jim, just the mention of “Pray for Rain” is going to send all the liberals into an enraged protest! Lol.
You hate it when “ordinary citizen’s ill-chosen words are used to represent a class or a community as bigoted.”
But if some out of touch kook from the left does it you get out your “oh the humanity” routine going in a hurry.
You all should try the prayer Rev Haggard used to use for droughts, here’s a little sample…..
It’s Raining Men! Hallelujah! - It’s Raining Men! Amen!
I’m gonna go out to run and let myself get
Absolutely soaking wet!
It’s Raining Men! Hallelujah!
It’s Raining Men! Every Specimen!
Tall, blonde, dark and lean
Rough and tough and strong and mean
Btw, this year I’m praying for rain and I am also praying that this Christmas everyone says “Merry Christmas.”

Are you kidding me? “fix it or go.”??? Since when?
We just re-relected a Govornor that has done absolutely nothing for Atlanta traffic. Remember all those great things he was going to do before he got elected the first time. One proposal would have computerized the traffic light system in metro-Atlanta. A project that is not glamorous but could provide immediate traffic relief and cut down on gas use and pollution.
Sonny campaigned on stopping the outer perimeter. Fix it or go?
We are certainly not telling our elected officials to “fix it.” We are telling them the opposite everytime we elect a government in Georgia that is anti-Atlanta, Republican or Democrat.
Atlanta’s traffic woes will continue as long as the rest of the State treats this area as nothing but a cash cow.
I nominate Sam Olens to be the next Govornor of Georgia.

This atheist liberal doesn’t mind if Sonny prays for rain and asks everyone else to. In the meantime, I’m getting off my knees and off my behind to conserve water and ensure my community does, too.
And, thanks, Jim, for telling poor women it’s okay for them to emerge from a dangerous pregnancy alive, but not necessarily healthy.
Which is more dangerous, legislating from the bench or diagnosing from the legislature?

Morning, Mr. W…..Check out yesterday’s GET SCHOOLED blog for the low down on those CRCT scores. In GA. “progress” is just a word in the dictionary. Manipulation of numbers is NOT progress. When and if….[it ain’t gonna happen]…. Ms. Cox releases the REAL numbers [see GS blog for specifics], maybe you will be as distressed as we are, not only about the CRCT as a whole, but also about the chocolate dipped, but poisonous presentation to the public.

School test scores up? Not in math and science where Georgia students continue to lag behind other states.
No surprise there, after all, evolution, which is the backbone of biological study, is not in taught in Georgia’s schools as teachers and adminsitrators are afraid of the “guns and Jesus” crowd so common in Georgia.
Its too bad Kathy Cox lacks the courage to stand up and say that teaching science means teaching evolution.
We’ve already got enough home-schooled misanthropes in Georgia, at least let our public school science teachers try and teach actual science to the children of the many Georgians who want our children to succeed and be competitive as adults.

Its time to end the Katrina occupation of the good hearted parts of America. We have paid generously for their laziness.
The government and especially the EPA has LOVED traffic gridock. Sometime ago they decided that making it hurt was the only way to force us to get public transportation. Well we are stubborn and do not want public transportation. Expand the roads and fire the EPA.

Jim’s a Cherry Picker,
As someone who has lived in cities with effective mass transit (New York, Washington, London, and Madrid) and two that don’t (Atlanta and Miami), I agree with your sentiments whole-heartedly.
The other glaring flaw in Mr. Wooten’s advocacy of “truck rail” versus commuter rail is that passenger cars, not trucks, are responsible for congestion on GA 400 and the Connector (where trucks not on a delivery are banned). The irony, here, of course is that prices go down and the environment improves if we get cars off the road to ease the mobility of trucks.
Mayor Bloomberg may be just about my favorite politician currently in office. Between his advocacy of handgun control, a balanced budget, adequate pension funding, telling people to “get a life” when they are obsessing over terrorism, and now in implementing an effective congestion plan with a commuter tax, this is a guy who just makes sense.

A new rail corridor sounds like a good idea, however I’m not sold on the idea of public funding for it especially as it would be built for the exclusive benefit of one private entity. The comment made yesterday by a Norfolk Southern executive struck me as odd. “The railroad also is prepared to invest a lot in this corridor … up to an amount that provides us an acceptable return on our investment.” If there is not a sufficient economic need that would justify the investment, why should you and I be expected to fill that gap? At least I am permitted to use the public roads at will. I doubt I would be allowed to cruise along the new railroad on a handcart.
I agree with the comments regarding Doraville. The petitioners are lamenting the shift in demographics, but there is no place for government to dictate what particular products are sold in a store. The market forces are simply responding to demand as is appropriate. Its not a question of Political Correctness, just a question of the proper limits on the role of government.

jbmlaw, I find your statement on eugenics interesting, and perhaps apt. However, funny how many girls from conservative, right-to-life families (Baptist) with boyfriends who are from conservative, right-to-life families (Baptist) that I know have undergone abortions. Because, in THEIR case, it was NECESSARY, according to them. I wonder if data has ever been gathered on religious leanings of women undergoing abortion? It seems counterintuitive, doesn’t it? Sometimes, however, when it is YOU who have an unwanted pregnancy (not you personally, of course) those ideals and convictions can become superceded by practical or “selfish” considerations. And, as we all have seen, “selfish” frequently rules the day (see Iraq, Cheyney’s military service, Clinton’s adultery, etc.).

Ah, Jim Wooten, I like your subtly this morning, Yep, “set a withdrawal deadline to get the people out of Atlanta. 110 were killed last year.” That’s the only cutnrun of which I would approve.
And Jim, you should know better than to be optimistic about Georgia’s school systems. That is not politically correct.
jbmlaw is correct in suggesting that we like variety in our mealtime choices, even in Doraville. All kinds are a culinary adventure. But, I tell you, ham & eggs & grits are hard to beat. Southern!!
And it looks like the Alabama legislators didn’t get their biscuits yesterday. Either that or things got pretty boring. Get ready for more “Alabama” jokes. Shades of Ben Tillman or whatever that cane-trasher’s name was over in South Carolina’s capitol long time ago.

The mayor of Doraville, Ray Jenkins was out of order. He certainly doesn’t have my respect. This is a free country. The lady should have been allowed to read the petition. It is the council’s duty to affirm or deny after the reading. I seriously doubt she would have been pilloried.
It was Henry Ross Perot, H. Ross Perot, who said that practically all of the great ideas in America were originated by ordinary citizens. I think officials need to do a little more research, soul searching, before denying ordinary citizens the right to address the council.
I hate it when an extraordinary, misguided, individual erroneously think they know what ordinary citizens should and should not say.

This is the same stupidintendent who wanted creationism taught in the schools for God’s sake!
Do some damn research on just how USELESS the CRCT is (some posters above have already pointed out how utterly ABYSMAL we are on tests that compare Georgia students to kids across the nation.)
On the one hand, you talk about vouchers, about how the education establishment isn’t working, then you turn RIGHT AROUND and praise the same establishment that CLEARLY isn’t working.
Go ask Pat Sajak if you can buy a clue. Go sit in a classroom with kids who passed the CRCT. Watch them TRY to read. Ask them about what they just read. And then admit to yourself “Now I know why Terry Shiavo passed the CRCT”

So, we should advocate for the rights of (mostly male) sex offenders to not be inconvenienced over living children. But let’s not allow funding for abortions that might preserve a woman’s health, lest it might keep some neocon wingnut up at night— because they, not a doctor, don’t get to decide what “health” means.
Amazing.
Oh, and RHC @8:28, I would echo your comment, but less in the spirit of “in your face”, but more “no way this current bunch of politicians are going to solve the problem, unless the electorate makes them take logical steps”.

Weve paid more for Iraqs laziness that we now know was a mistake and we are crying about a natural disaster that destroyed an entire AMERICAN city. A natural disaster, not some man made fictional account of what could’ve, should’ve or would’ve been. Regardless if you like the people in the city or not they should get whatever they deserve. We did leave them on rooftops for a week or two, didnt we. I mean we rebuild Missouri and Nebraska everytime a tornado shreds them, so why not New Orleans. Lord forbid something happens in Texas. Southern Democrat,
Yeah, Bloomberg is making some pretty sensible moves up there. He’s on the ground responding to reality, instead of listening to the pie in the sky “think tanks” that Jim and Newt rely on($14 billion for tunnels under Atlanta?).
The lack of leadership here is unbelievable - it’s almost a statistical impossibiltiy that a population this large could be so consistently mis-governed.
Atlanta is a cesspool of cronyism and narrow interest, the counties are either bastions of close minded reactionary politics or flat-out incompetence, and the state is nothing but an arm of the Chamber of Commerce. Excepting those involved in the Hope Scholarship, I can’t think of one state or local leader who has any kind of positive legacy to claim.
Of course, I’m sure that NY and NJ have plenty of all of that, but at least they have a transit system.

It is a disgrace what Jefferson did. And no problem with pointing out fraud among the poor and middle class. But when are you going to express similar outrage over the bloated and someimes fraudulent contracts a lot of the Republicans have engaged in taking advantage of Katrina. Cheney, the current VP, went to the Lousiana area after Gore, the ex VP did. The former FEMA head was busy acting as a liaison to get contracts handed out to Republican buddies. that kind of fraud is a lot more than some measly unemployment check.

Amazing It is in that spirit that my comment was written elected politicians trying to cram a bill that 80% of US citizens did not want. Did they care about the child molesters, gang members, or individuals who have terrorists ties that could apply for citizenship? No!!! Did they care about the costs associated and who would carry that burden? No!!! All they wanted was to pander for the vote. This was clearly a victory for all Americans. But don’t worry, this subject will raise its ugly head again.

congestion IS our friend
we have an advertisement based society that has people convinced that sitting in a fancy car for hours to go from and to a fancy big house way out in the middle of nowhere equates status
only congestion will unblind these morons
its already happening. the poor are fleeing the city beause rich white folks are movign there while the very poor are headed to the exurbs where they belong.
only congestion will cure sprawl traffic. congestion gets bad enough for long enough and people move back to the city.
makeing more congestion by adding more road and lanes will never cure congestion. NEVER. EVER.
and harold is tired of subsidizing congestion. harold would rather subsidize effective public transit.
how much is i75/575 gonna cost? 40 TRILLLION DOLLARZ? you could get a fancy light rail for that. you could volnutarily retire everyone in bartow and cherokee for that!!! how is it effective to spend more on roads than the people “served” by them will ever earn in their whole lives combined???

And of course the Katrina leeches have the very typical example of the black congressional caucus criminal Jefferson who just pled not guilty this morning to 16 corruption charges. I suppose these Katrina leeches think double dipping at tax payer expense is the norm, given the numerous other examples of the endemic corruption that the demoNcrat state of LA keeps on shamefully and gleefully provides so many murderous crack abusing thuggish local leeches in NOLA.
NO MORE tax payer funds for NOLA… they want to rebuild it on a severe flood plain - they pay for it themselves!!!
Some excellent news on the Mexican immigrant front - aside from the senate finally doing the decent thing with their poisonous amnesty bill. A LEGAL Mexican immigrant my wife and I have worked with is getting ready for his citizenship interview. He came for his INS test questions yesterday and in a couple of months should be fully naturalized, finally dispensing with his green card. He and his white American wife have steadily established a flourishing building contractor business since 1999, playing by the rules and not employing illegals. This is EXACTLY the kind of upstanding Mexican immigrant that should be welcomed here with open arms. Leftist bigots on here keep on puking up the sick lie that I am anti-Mexican - not at all … JUST ANTI-ILLEGAL!!!
Hopefully weeping and wailing hysterical footage will soon emerge of the sluttish airhead P Hilton being told to return to court this morning after its sickening cry baby spoiled richbitchbrat lemme outtahere antics in the LA jail. The full sentence, without segregation should be imposed for its cynical manipulation of the system.
GLORIOUS NEWS ABOUT THE POISONOUS PANDERING AMNESTY BILL GOING DOWN IN FLAMES!!! Hopefully Bush will now stop trying to destroy the country and focus on border security and massively stepping up deportations!
Canada’s PM tells the smug self absorbed self appointed third world drooler the vainglorious fenian Bono to sod off - see how Canada has much improved with the change of govt up there.
NO registered sex offenders - like Mrs J M Karr-NAMBLA and aborted foreskin -should have the right to live anyhwere near kids. Although if any kind of kiddie facilities choose to move in to an area where the sex offenders already are legally living its unreasonable to expect them to just move because some selfish moron is too lazy to check things out.
The mayor of Doraville is absolutely right - this kind of mindless bigotry serves no one well.

Following the comments in this blog only reaffirms the basic difference in Left and Right thought patterns and their reactions. The Left is almost exclusively emotionally based and therefore reacts accordingly by attacking the source rather than debate the logic of any issue. Their reaction is to try discredit any position they don’t agree with as being somehow evil, ignorant, greedy or otherwise malevolent. All of the Leftists from Harry Reid to Michael Moore react this way.
When jbmlaw@8:07 opined that some sex offender laws may too broadly defined, our friend melo@10:28 quickly reached for his keyboard to give all of us a quick demonstration of this by suggesting that this was somehow criminally motivated and ergo should be disregarded. Never to debate the logic because this would require logical thought.

The point was already made that republicans and their cronies made more money than the people we are speaking about that got a measly unemployment check. We seem to forget about the waste in Iraq with Halliburton and other no bid contracts. The same no bid contracts were awarded to people that were contracted to reconstruct New Orleans.. Jim, obviously the law of supply and demand dictates where certain things are sold. Had their been a demand for “traditional” American food, (and I am with jbmlaw on this one, just what is that? Not many people can even define American culture), I am sure someone would be eager to supply that demand. It is very easy to see that the woman’s objection was to the ethnicity of the clientle served, and the words “traditional American” sent the flag up the pole. Mayor Jenkins didn’t allow the words to become the ignition point for what could have become a totally off the subject “debate” of a very simple issue.

What I can’t understand RCH is, that Wooten would agree with you (‘cause you’re right) then turn right around and prostitute himself to the Republican Party by shilling for Cox on this.

GOD OF WAR,
Of course this is the land of the free for all who come here legally. But you make a lot of assumptions. Did the lady from Doraville get up and say “I’m a Republican and I like American food.” She didn’t mentioned her politics, just her idea of the kind of food she likes. Maybe her cat was poisoned by Chinese cat food. I don’t know. But politics were not mentioned. Now you have posted what might be considered a bigoted political reply. Why was that?
What a tempest in a teapot. “American food” contains recipes from white, black, brown, yellow and red kitchens. We love it that way. For goodness sake, don’t stir politics into our food. It tastes better without it.

RCH, you are about the most short sighted person that I have ever encountered on this blog. Are you so dense that you don’t understand that for you nativists, xenophobes, and outright racists that this bill was the ABSOLUTE BEST that YOU will get. Do you not comprehend what the battle between the dems and repubs was all about? Think about the Obama argument and the repub argument. If you can think. There is a good possibility that the dems will pick up more senate and house seats in 08 and the White House. Guess what kind of immigration bill you will get then. RCH this is a Pyric victory for you and those of your ilk. You will lose big time on this issue in the end as will the Republican party for years to come. But I am glad that you are so blissfully ignorant. Enjoy your shortlived glee.

However, my point was, seeing passing scores going from 78 to 79% is just not a significant gain, especially given the history of manipulation on the CRCT. I understand about statistical significance slightly, having suffered through several graduate level classes and written a dissertation, but I imagine there are many things I don’t know enough about (yet keep talking anyway :) However, if we see jumps of from 75% to 80% of students passing, my interest would be piqued. Tricky question about Medicaid paying for abortions. As jbmlaw pointed out in a tongue and cheek manner, it would certainly be cost effective, as any child born to a mother on Medicaid is more likely to be a financial dependent of the government in one way or another. So, ordinarily, fiscal conservatives would see this as a wise investment - a few hundred dollars spent on an abortion now to save thousands later. But, jbmlaw also pointed out, it smacks a bit too much of eugenics. Normally, I’m not one to put too much stock in predictions of slippery slopes or the proverbial camel’s proboscis intruding under the tent flap, but this one is genuinely spooky.
And or course, there is the legitimate concern that any abortion is the moral equivalent of murder. I think most reasable people would agree that it’s wrong to perform an abortion five minutes before a child is due to be born. But then how far back is okay? The 8th month? The 5th? The 3rd? It’s not easy to come up with a cut-off point that makes sense in every circumstance. So, from an ethical standpoint, it would seem a safer bet to just forbid all abortions.
But is that putting an undue burden on women? Legally forcing them to donate the use of their bodies to prevent the death of another human being? While doing so should certainly be encouraged and applauded, should it really be forced? We don’t force people to donate kidneys, lungs, and other organs. What makes that fundamentally different?

I got a kick out of reading some of the comments here concerning Sex Offender Registration and the resultant Banishment laws. It’s funny because apparently some of you think that cr*p actually does something beneficial. In REALITY, the laws are worse than just being worthless and are entirely counterproductive. There is literally not a single expert in this entire country that thinks Banishment is a good idea and very few who think Registration is. I know, I know, politicians and the general public are much more informed, intelligent, rational, and unbiased than the “experts” are. Right.
By focusing on this ever-increasing, hysterical, irrational, fact-less witch hunt we are COMPLETELY ignoring what would be good for us to concentrate on —-> preventing sexual offenses BEFORE they happen. For being so freaked-out and concerned about this “epidemic” we are doing damn near nothing about it. The only thing we are doing is making it worse and wasting resources. Ahhh, the moonbats on the left have their hats handed to them on the amnesty bill and now proclaim a defeat for the 70-80% of Americans who oppose the amnesty and unrestrained immigration. Pyrrhic victory indeed!
Perhaps this was more of an indication the death of the conservative movement, as so loudly proclaimed on this blog for months, was nothing more than a statement by conservatives to the Congress and the President. Keep acting like drunken Democrats and we will help elect drunken Democrats.
The bill before the Senate is no more than pandering for votes from the alien community - by both Democrats and Republicans. The bill is a waste of time and effort.
Also interesting is the almost daily indication from one or more of the supporters of the bill on this blog that they are in fact aliens, either illegal or legal. Then these “enlightened” souls refer to opponents as either racists or bigots or xenophobes for opposing the invasion.
Attack the messenger because there is no rational support for the Senate bill unless you are an alien or a politician.
The Republican Senators supporting the bill, Lindsay Graham and the like, will see a significant reduction in their numbers at the next election. Good riddance, for they are the epitome of the “run as a conservative and act like a liberal” so well played by GWB.
Far from the death of conservatism, the last election and the Senate bill will unite the conservatives to bring real conservatism to government.

Slick Willie Jefferson sure isn’t getting much coverage in the MSM. Yet S. Libby, that hardened criminal who did a stupid thing like lie, is raked over the coals. Oh and by the by, Libby was never accused of leaking the name of a supposed CIA agent as was adamantly deemed to be the case with people like Wolf Blitzer. Speaking of Katrina, last week a poll reflected that over half the people who live in the regions still aren’t prepared for a hurricane. Somehow that is Bush’s fault. People have big screen TVs and thumper car stereos yet they aren’t prepared for a hurricane. Idiots that make life choices like that deserve whatever fate nature throws at them..while they pull the lever for Democrats to bail them out of their own stupidity and laziness and poor decision making abilities. Horray for congress beating back that traitorous illegal immigration bill. R or D, no good American worth his/her salt should stand up for giving this nation away. Immigration is not a racial issue unless the blind moonbats make it one. Danny,
Jesus could feed the multitudes with a young boy’s lunch. Neither the United States nor its citizens has that ability. There are fiscal limits to the number of people this country can support.
The US has been a great nation due to one language and one culture, comprised of people who speak many languages and come from different cultures but are willing to become a citizen and recognize the culture and language.
The current crop of immigrants has many who neither seek nor will accept citizenship, the language or the culture. The alien demonstrations openly mock our culture and language and denounce that which has made the US a great country.
An unwillingness to accept such people is not racist, bigoted or xenophobic.

You are not seeing the forest for the trees. Also, do you realize that the primary argument was over what type of immigrant. Republicans want more of the type immigrants that DO take jobs that Americans DO want to do. As for the death of the Republican right wing, another nail went into the coffin. I call BS on JohnD.
In JohnD’s romanticized version of history, the white Europeans he’s referring to quickly dropped their languages, took up English and assimilated — unlike “the current crop”.
Of course, it’s not true. First generation European immigrants commonly lived in sections of town where their fellow countrymen lived (my Mom grew up in the same neighborhood in Louisville, Kentucky, known as “Germantown”, where her parents were raised by her German grandparents) and, just like “the current crop” it often took a couple of generations before the mother tongue was no longer spoken at home, in the local bakery, etc.
Clearly, the deliberately uninformed JohnD is a racist, bigoted xenophobe.

But do us a faveor and get your little stick bud to just spit it out. Tell us exactly what the “American culture” is. He is appearing to be quite the COWARD with his avoidance of key aspects of his argument. He needs to tell us specifically what cultural aspects of our society that he feels so threatended by. If he can’t do that, maybe he should shelve that part of his argument. I personally suspect that it has alot to do with white being the key element.

We have much discussion on this blog, daily, on immigration and the political consequences of a bill, or of no bill. I suggest the net consequences, either with or without an immigration bill, are likely negligible. If this were a left vs right issue, we would not see 50/50 votes in the senate, knowing that there are several conservatives who favor moderating our present immigration bills. Daily readers know I am a conservative who favors open borders. Presence or absence of a bill will not affect my likely vote.
Theoretically Tom Tancredo would the least attractive conservative candidate for me (I say theoretically because there is no real chance he could get the nomination), yet it is inconceivable to me that I would vote for a leftist instead of Mr. Tancredo. Similarly, I cannot envision a leftist voting against a leftist politician who votes wrong on the issue. We are mostly not a single-issue society; we all base our votes on some personal calculus.
I heard Mayor Giuliani talking yesterday on Hannity; I am not a wildly enthusiastic fan of Mr. Giuliani, but his argument – to focus on stabilizing the flow, then to reduce the complexity in the government and process, thus to facilitate the flow of those workers we need – made much sense to me.

One additional argument, the “one language” argument – this is one where I agree with my “xenophobic” friends. The commonality of language is important in our American culture – that allows us to talk to each other about our differences. (I know all about Switzerland, don’t waste my time with an irrelevant argument about language diversity in a country where the political power is held at the “state” level rather than in a central government.)
The ability to speak English is the real distinction between American and non-American resident. Almost anything else goes. To be a good American you have to be able to speak at least marginal English.

Well, so much for homeland security and protecting our borders. Congress caves in on the post 9/11 passport requirement for airline travel. Apparently Mr. and Mrs. FatA$$ America have their bags packed with hawaiian shirts and elastic waist shorts and they can’t get their daggone passports. A few calls to their congressman sure put a quick stop to that requirement.

jbmlaw, wasn’t it you that said yesterday something to the effect that politics is fundamentally unimportant? Now you ponder the political consequences of the passage or death of the senate immigration bill? What difference do the political consequences make when you have a huge economic, homeland security and social problem that needs to be solved? The death of this bill will ensure that the problem will go unresolved for years to come. Are you happy about that?

Jbmlaw,
I find your statement that you would vote for Tancredo (despite his loony immigration stances) over an unnamed leftist intriguing. A bit of a reverse litmus test, no?
I agree with you regarding the English speaking ability. I would also endorse EVERY American learning a second language. I was fortunate to live in Houston for a few years during my youth and started taking Spanish and continued taking it until I was fleetingly proficient. It still comes in very handy.
On another note, this slipped my mind until now, we had a special intention for peace and protection of the military at Mass last week with the opportunity to light candles, so I lit one for my cousin, one for my former student (brand new 2nd Lt. out of West Point), and one for The Ensign. “His-pandering” RCH? This really puts the icing on the cake for me RCH. This statement tells everyone on this blog what your agenda is. Why not India-pandering? And don’t try saying all Indians are legal because a large percentage of them are here on overstayed visas. Came here to visit H1B relatives and never bothered to return to India. RCH, this time I was pretty sure that it wasn’t about politics. Last year it was. The Senate passed an immigration bill last year knowing that it had no chance of advancing because of Jim Nonsensenbrenner in the House. This time I thought that it would go because of the change in leadership. I still have hope that the politicians will show some backbone and do what is right for this country instead of what they usually do - nothing at all.

Ideally legislation is proposed in order to remedy a situation the nation is faced with. However, this immigration bill was proposed specifically to provide a remedy (an out actually) for Congress. If they had been able to quickly pass this abomination it qould have allowed them to take immigration out of the discussion for a few years while effectively accomplishing nothing.
Nothing would have changed. Illegals would continue to come unabated and they could be content to simply continue as is. Where is the evidence of their great demand for citizenship? Why should’t they just continue to work for cash, no taxes, enroll their kids in school, go to the ER for medical services, and life goes on? I believe the majority of them would just say, “We don’t need no stinkin’ badges.”

Inquirer I am limited in time but here are a few things I would recommend. 1)First seal off the border. Fences are great ,but anything built by man can be overcome. Deny any illegal work, housing, social services, etc. Fine any employer 1 million dollars and jail time for the CEO or president of that company.
2) Deal with those here. Criminally and medically screen all illegals. If they do not pass deport them.
3) We wanted them so lets let them become citizens if they so desire. Back taxes, social security, etc. must be dealt with. I believe in the fair tax so all who stay have to pay taxes.
4) If you would like to stay but without becoming a citizen you can. On a working visa. If no work is available you must return home.
5) Anchor baby’s are not automatic citizens. A product of an illegal act is not legal.
6)Establish work centers in countries outside the U.S.. If you would like to come to the United States to work that is were you apply. Companies who desire workers may apply with these firms for those workers. They will already will have been serened can work in the US as long as those jobs are available paying taxes and receiving benifts. When those jobs end they can apply for other work if available or they must leave. after a certain amount of working hours these individuals may then apply for citizenship.
Just a few ideas in a short amount of time. I am sure I left many things out, but it is a start.

RCH, #4 would be the deal killer. The rest doesn’t sound too bad. But you are not seeing the big picture at all with #4. Heads of household will not leave families behind, nor will entire families leave. And you obviously have totally disregarded the issue of their citizen children. Much of the argument that revolves around sending folks home is totally impractical and undoable. You are going right back to your round em up and deport em argument that you tried before. #4 would also be incredibly expensive on the enforcement side. Impracticle. Undoable. The first step in any bill has to be legitimacy for the ones already here. You will get no bill ever that doesn’t deal with that first.

I agree with most of RCH’s rough plan. The real key is to go after employers of illegal immigrants—-after all, most of them didn’t come here to sample our cuisine or culture. They came here for work. And the Republican administration, under George Bush, has been all about “good business”. Illegal workers are great for certain employers. Way to go, Bushites.
I’m not sure how to screen 12 million people, however. That, and sealing off the border seem logistically unfeasible.

The Norfolk Southern rail is an EXCELLENT idea. It puts me in mind of that T.V. commercial where that mighty Oak reaches out; takes a big 18-wheeler off the road, and puts it on a train bound for its’ destination. From an environmental standpoint, it looks very green….just like that Big Oak in the commercial. Who says business isn’t concerned about the environment?
I’ve always enjoyed my food with an international flare, but I’ve gotta tell you Jim; I won’t be eating Asian food for some time.

Last week, I was about to pull out of my driveway and saw a dead deer across the road; all bloated with his legs sticking straight up. I immediately put the car in reverse and called the county to have it picked up. I got back in my car and set out again only to see a very petite Asian woman loading that carcass into the back of her brand new Escalade.
At first I was amazed at how someone so small could lift that dead deer. Then reality hit and I wondered why she had picked it up at all.

Paty,
Touched a nerve did I? I have other things in my life than sitting at a computer just to answer your stunted questions and self-absorbed view of how the country should coddle you and those you support.
The American culture is one that values human life and the rule of law. A culture formed by people of varied backgrounds but with the realization that a great country can only succeed with one official language. See the upheaval in Canada between the French speaking and English speaking provinces.
The American culture does not condone the belief that all must be of one religious faith, or for that matter even have a religious faith. Those, such as the Muslims, who have an unswerving belief that theirs is the only true religion and all others must die, should not be welcome.
The American culture confines those who believe violence is the only answer to problems. No sane product of the American culture would strap bombs to their children and march them into a public place to kill innocents. The sane do not condone solving domestic, civil and political disagreements with violence.
The examples given by other posters regarding their ancestors living in Germantown, or other ethnic communities, and taking a generation or two to become proficient in English only strengthens my position. They became proficient because they recognized the importance, unlike the La Raza demonstrators who proudly proclaimed they had no intention of adopting English or the American culture.
I can go on but I think even you should be able to grasp the idea.
The American culture has grown through the belief that each is responsible for his or her well-being and the willingness to help those who cannot help themselves.
America helps others at a pace unseen before in world history but that does not mean America has the capacity to save, or even help, over 4 billion people.

The type of immigration bill that most of you antis want is comparable with wanting a bill that makes 18 wheelers use truck lanes, outfit them with tach limitors that shut the engine down at a certain revolution (speed) and an enforcement agent comes out with ticket book and restarter in hand, restarts the truck, and writes the Truck Line, not the driver a 10,000.00 ticket. It definately would solve some problems. But like the immigration bill that you rabid antis want it is totally unrealistic. This is the real world folks.

Ralph,
Only a liberal would attempt to put the lost Congressional seats solely on the immigration issue.
The Iraq War and the unrestrained spending by GWB are the reasons the Congress changed hands, the immigration issue had a small, very small, influence on the outcome of the mid-term elections.
GWB ran as a conservative and then conducted himself as a liberal and was supported by the Republicans in Congress. They deserved to lose.
The results do not necessarily indicate the liberals sent a message, on the contrary the conservatives sent the message they will no longer support those who misrepresent their politics.
If a few years of nut-case liberal control are required to emphasize the folly of such political leaning then the conservatives are willing to endure.

RCH,
I would agree with most of your “bill” except change the product of illegals to a non-citizen, not an illegal.
Penalize the workers as well as the employers. Once illegals see others confined and deported they will be encouraged to leave and seek legal entry. Thus you would not have to deport all of the 12-20 million illegals, they would deport themselves.
Restrict legal immigration to 250,000 to 500,00 per year, a number we can employ and assimilate.
Add a provision to end legal immigration if the current law, which is sufficient to curb illegal immigration, is not enforced.
The illegal immigration is a national security issue that must be addressed.
I certainly like your work centers proposal.

In his day Ronald Reagan had the kind of political capital that allowed him to influence members of his own party and unify them behind unpopular legislation. George W has rendered himself impotent over his handling of the war in Iraq. His biography is not looking good right now.
Your American culture description lost me on the second paragraph with your “law and order” statement. If it weren’t for the US’ insatiable appetite for illegal drugs we wouldn’t be fighting a phony war against drugs while paying the traffickers whatever they ask for their merchandise.

I would like to see a bill passed that puts a state trooper every 2 miles on every interstate highway in America. Those 200 million speeders need to be stopped and locked up. Fine em too. They are breaking the laws of our country.
And that’s about as stupid and illogical as John D and RCH’s immigration bill. Totally urealistic.

What about having illegal immigrant parents take their American-born children with them when they return to their home country? The child can then be re-admitted when it comes of age and can live self-sufficiently (probalby this would supply some of our low-skilled workers).
I don’t think folks should be able to apply on the basis of “they are already here”, nor the presence of anchor babies. We need folks with skills, including English, to advance in this country. The idea of babies as products does sound offensive, but think of it this way: a robber should not be able to use the gains of his robbery to pay his lawyer, etc.

Oh my, deegee woke up on the wrong side of the rock this morning. Bah. It sounds like someone is just a teeny bit envious of those who can afford to travel where passports are required. Democrats give away their class envy colours every time. Isn’t envy one of the seven Deadly Sins like sloth? Well there are two for you that Democrats have in full blaring for all to witness. Envy of those who have rather than have not, and love for those or sit on their rumps all day collecting government checks. While we’re at it, let’s also throw in pride and lust. Democrats and certainly liberals pride themselves as being smarter than everyone else, or as usually the case, thinking they are smarter than everyone else. Lust = Clinton, Kennedys, etc., and glutton = Teddy Kennedy, Rosie, Moore, etc. For the record, and I know you underdeveloped libs well and where you would retaliate, greed is not when someone wants to excel in life and earn more and have more than someone else. That’s self determination. Greed is not people wanting to save their own money and build better homes for themselves or drive nicer cars. That’s self-preservation. Greed is certainly not people wanting to take international trips with their own saved money. That’s self-satisfaction. Greed IS definitely taking by force what others have and redistributing it collectively just because a group of collectivist socialists believe it’s the right thing to do. And then we have genius libs like deegee spewing rediculous incredulous comments on this blog. Bah.

The upheaval between rival high school football teams in Odessa, Texas is bigger than the “upheaval” (i.e. debate) between the Canadian French and English speaking provinces. If Canada is JohnD’s evidence that a country can’t succeed with more than one language, then when it comes to the ability to reason, he’s swimming in the baby pool.

Catlady, think it through. How do you think that people that emigrate from their native country learn English? They learn it in school. Those that have had the privelege of being educated in English in their native country are not the kind of people that are willing to come here to clean your latrine. BTW, I have worked with immigrants that speak very little English, quit school in the 6th grade and had better math and reading comprehension skills than my nephews that graduated from a Georgia high school.

He wrote, “The American culture confines those who believe violence is the only answer to problems.”
Hmmm. Seems to me, we invaded Iraq when Hans Blix was telling us that Iraq was cooperating with U.N. inspectors, and that their assessment to date, was that there were no WMDs. Now, with tens of thousands of innocents dead and hundreds of thousands of innocents injured, JohnD writes, “the American culture confines those who believe violence is the only answer…” F*** idiot.

Look at these gays and liberals in Los Angeles torturing this poor woman:
{{{Screaming Paris Hilton Sent Back to Jail}}}
It’s just her luck that she was born a beautiful rich woman with a partying problem, that no pinko® will stand up for, instead of a cutthroat Islamic terrorist that these sniveling Cowards are always trying to free from jail.
I thought you Cowards were against torture?
Tell me you deviants, how is this any different than Abu Ghraib?
Aren’t you the same candy as-ses that were JUST whining about Dick Cheney?
Where is the usual outrage from Cynthia Tucker, are her “get out of jail” sensationalizism just reserved for child killers, racists and the like?

Libby starred in re-enactment of witch trials
The world must have watched the I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby trial with wonder (“Libby receives 2 1/2 years in prison,” Page One, June 6). The law-abiding United States of America has just done a rerun of the Salem witch trials with all its freaks and foolishness.
Take an “innocent” that you don’t like, accuse him of things he might have done, tell him he isn’t telling the truth, imply that nobody forgets, say that he and his “friend” were casting spells, and even if he didn’t “cast ‘em,” he most certainly mentioned it.
To sum it up, you don’t like the conservative company he keeps. Then hustle him off for the toughest punishment allowed because he doesn’t grovel —- same ol’ Salem.
CATHERINE BOONE SHEALY, Atlanta- Letters to the Editor, Atlanta Urinal
And we will remember too.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ®
From the Urinal’s Vent section:
{{{Fred Thompson divorced his wife of many years and married someone 25 years younger. He and Giuliani fit right in with the hypocritical family values crowd.}}}
Oh, I get it, we should follow the example of the leading democrats, Bill and sHrillary, Clinton right?
Fred should be a serial groper and a rapist and his wife would be a bulldy-ke who leaves the corpses of her lovers in Fort Marcy Park?
Is that what it would take to pass the democrat private life and bedroom monitoring smell test?
Geez.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ®.
{{{Mr. Reid fired back at the White House yesterday, saying the immigration bill failed because Mr. Bush couldn’t persuade his own party to support it.}}}
Bush failed.
Leave it at that.
Or we will rid the Republican party of you.
Concentrate your efforts on Iraq, you spineless wonders, win that and maybe we’ll give you the immigration bill as a gift.
And maybe we won’t.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ®.
{{{“Workplace enforcement” of laws barring illegal aliens from holding jobs in the United States is a joke — virtually nonexistent except when the administration decides it is time for a good photo op to show that it is “getting tough” on wayward employers.}}}
If they couldn’t get a job what would they come here for?
Duh.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ®.
Look, the “bumper sticker” is coming to get you:
{{{A suspected international arms dealer was arrested yesterday in Spain and charged with conspiracy to sell millions of dollars in weapons to a State Department-designated foreign terrorist organization in Colombia to kill Americans. U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Administrator Karen P. Tandy said Syrian national Monzer Al Kassar, 61, of Marbella, Spain, along with suspects Tareq Mousa Al Ghazi, 60, of Lebanon, and Luis Felipe Moreno Godoy, 58, also of Marbella, were arrested as they prepared to finalize a multimillion-dollar deal with the Marxist Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, to pay for the weapons.}}}
So which “Americans” to you Cowards think they want to kill?
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ®.
He ruled over you Cowards:
{{{There in London that Tuesday, June 8, 1982, the American president spoke of a crossroads — “a turning point.” “It is the Soviet Union,” assured Mr. Reagan, “that runs against the tide of history by denying freedom and human dignity to its citizens. It also is in deep economic difficulty. … The dimensions of this failure are astounding: a country which employs one-fifth of its population in agriculture is unable to feed its own people.” Here was Mr. Reagan’s foreknowledge of the Soviet Union’s coming calamity, served up when Soviet experts in American universities were claiming the U.S.S.R. was fine. Mr. Reagan, they said, should not be so arrogant.}}}
{{{He struggled to understand those Western leftists who chided him for daring to judge the American experiment better than the Frankenstein monster created by the Bolsheviks: “I have often wondered about the shyness of some of us in the West about standing for these ideals that have done so much to ease the plight of man and the hardships of our imperfect world,” said Mr. Reagan. “Let us be shy no longer. … What kind of people do we think we are? And let us answer: Free people, worthy of freedom and determined not only to remain so, but to help others gain their freedom as well. … Let us now begin a major effort to secure the best — a crusade for freedom that will engage the faith and fortitude of the next generation. … [L]et us move toward a world in which all people are at last free to determine their own destiny.”}}}
Dramatic as those words ring today, they were downright shocking in 1982. Lou Cannon, then the White House correspondent for The Washington Post, recalls that the press derided the Westminster Address as “wishful thinking, bordering on delusional.”
You pinko®s got stomped and lost the fight to save communism just as you are going to lose the fight to save Islamic Fascism, you stupid sniveling Cowards.
(I’ll take another America loving actor^^ in the White House, geez, I long for those days.)

Pray for Rain? Jim Wooten, sir, be thankful your gubernatorially-imbedded potted plant, (who coincidentally also needs a good hosing), didn’t exhort Native Americans to dance for rain.
The Norcross-based Lipsey Mounstain Spring Water Company has the sole contract to deliver bottled water to disaster areas. Follow that money and see the #1 source of corruption within our republic.
No wonder Purdue thinks we should pray for water.

We need minesweepers in Iraq. Where’s the technology wizards to give our soldiers the vision-assist to spot these things. IEDs give off a signature on some specific spectral filters, and I demand we provide these to our troops. Whats the matter, no sole contract to supply them? Surely the Saudis would do it for the kickbacks. (Listening, Dick?)

The Pope has a new book: JESUS of NAZARETH (too bad the Paris thing happened after the publish deadline or he could have included an admonishing forward which would have raised sales)
A catholic writing about The Christ? Must read.
What was Jesus’s obseration? His view of us stringing him up using our state-of-the-art technology: Cat-o-nine tails to scourage him; Iron-alloy nails to secure him to the cross which itself was carved using the latest metallic woodworking utensils….
…and of course, he witnessed our cleverness and creativity when we fashioned the Crown of Thorns. (if crucified today, that same crown would be a beer-can hat, arent we clever).
BTW: Pontius Pilate owned the sole Roman Empire Contract to supply nails, crosses and whips to pagan sacrifices, and rebel insurgencies and pre-messianic transfigurations. Follow THAT money and see the #1 reason why the Roman Empire collapsed.
Imagine an auction today at Christies: the Crown of Thorns. Throw in Pontius Pilate’s Jock Strap and expect a new one-item auction record: 72 quint-quadrillion euros. (That’s more money than they stole at Ocean’s Thirteen)
Stop the Auction!! I think the Crown of Thorns is a fake, you can clearly see where someone sprayed the thorns with enddust to stop preying beetles.

The final episode sunday night.
The final episode.
I havent seen it. I’m not a hollywood insider, but I know exactly what the ending will be: The Same Ending That Every Movie Ever Made Has…..
…theshootoutattheokcorral
I am so sorry that Doc Holliday or Wyatt Earp ever saw a hand gun or a shot gun because then screenplay writers would not ALL be stuck on one end game scenario for movie plots: The Shoot Out at the OK Corral.
Gee, I wonder if Tony Soprano will shoot it out with the bad guys at point blank range?
It dont matter what the movie is about, it could be about nuns on a bus going to toilet-paper a mosque on halloween, you know that at some point in the movie (hint: near the end), one nun is going to pull out a gun and start shooting at the other nuns.
What is wrong with liberal hollywood? Their Politics? NO! their hacks.
HACKS!!!
I’d rather see Bush pronounce obscure geographic names and foreign leader’ names than watch another movie.
But I wont miss “the sopranos” tomorrow night. OK?

deegee, I work with about a hundred immigrant families a year. The adults who learn English do it in multiple ways, but mostly it is by putting themselves in situations where English is spoken, on purpose. We have several groups in our little town that give free English classes, which have some attendance. We also have an alternative high school which gives classes to overage students. However, many, many of our adults make no real effort to learn English. How can you explain someone who has been here 12 years or more and cannot say basic things? Of course, some of the women are less able to put themselves in these situations, because they live an Iraqi kind of life, confined to the house having babies. We see this mostly in the Guatemalan women. However, if learning English were “rewarded” by moving you toward citizenship, we would see more of that happening, too, as it would be in their best interest. The adults that do learn English force themselves into situations that will assist their learning, sometimes at great cost in time, energy, and effort, as I would do if I were in a foreign country.
And we are not talking about ability here: many of the Latino adults I know are among the brightest, most engaging, and hardest working people in the county. Their children certainly put ours to shame on many measures of ability and work ethic. Some of the adults need an incentive to learn, because right now they depend almost entirely on their children to buffer them. I know quite a few 9 year old girls who have been in the delivery room with mama because daddy does not trust the hospital-provided translator, for example.
I think “extra points” should be given to those wanting to get legal status who have learned English, that’s all. There are other things I think should qualify for “extra points” too. And no, those who come initially may be confined to lower level jobs (as many of us are when we start out—babysitting, mowing lawns, flipping burgers), but then they will become more skilled and move up, and other (legal) immigrants, newer to the country, will take their places.

And now introducing a new show, “Fun With the Vent”
Yes, it’s “Fun With the Vent”, that bi-weekly, cross-referential reality blog from the same producer that brought you “Political Foreskin - peeling back the hubris”
Saturday’s Vent has a good opening joke which should read: “I’m really sorry that I bought a waterbed, cause my wife and I have drifted apart”. (this wouldn’t have happened if you had more driftwood, sir)
“Creationists: please explain why you have an appendix”. (only bookies have appendix’s, moron).
“Wouldn’t it have been hot if Paris Hilton had emerged from lockdown with a prison tattoo?” (Give her time; she already has a tatoo anyway and I’ve seen it).
“During watering restrictions, I invite all the children in our neighborhood to have a super soaker fight on our front lawn”. (Okay, JimWooten, Here’s your chance to test the new sex-offender laws)
“Dubya’s presidential library should be built in Baghdad”. (At least it wont get looted).
“I’m allergic to cats, and so I’ll just have to be a crazy dog lady”. (@@ finally got in the vent!)
“I was OK with the first few Harry Potter novels, but the next few seems like she’s making stuff up.” (silly rabbit, magic-tricks are for kids)
“Text messaging, Tv shows and movies on cellphones are producing a generation of mindless, squinty-eyed zombies” (Bush is right: Iraq IS like Korea)
“I have no underwear”. (at least Paris gets internet time in jail. they dont wear hardly nuthin’ ‘neath them prison gowns, you know)
“I could get fined if I’m caught washing my car at home, but it’s OK to go to the carwash everyday. How is THAT conserving water? (wash me)
Well, that’s our show, see you again next week for another episode of “Fun With the Vent”.

Will the RATs like Polly/God’s Trash get out and actually enjoy the day, or will they sit around and fester as usual trying to “dominate” (heh. hahaha. HAHAHAHAHA!) a Conservative blog?
I’d just like to share a comment from another blog about Berger’s treasonous theft and the Scooter Libby NON-OUTAGE OF A COVERT CIA OPERATIVE media/RAT wet dream:
I have found that few folks on the street - especially all of those well read folks who want to blame 9/11 on the current administration (and there is plenty of blame to go around), ever heard of the Berger case. How can that be possible.
Oh, they all hate Libby - even though David Boies was quite clear that the investigation was ill-conceived from the git-go. Yea, Libby plays hard-ball politics just like the rest of them in Washington - D’s and R’s alike. Nothing unusual there. But stealing secret documents and destroying them before your testimony - now - that deserves a bit of media attention. Shh.
Now on the other hand, few Americans ever seemed to know who James Riady was — and if a person or two “sort of” remembers his name, it’s not with any knowledge of the fact that the Reno US Justice Department handed Bill Clinton’s close friend and business associate, frequent White House guest, the largest fine ($8,610,000.00) ever handed out (oh, and expelled him from the country) for illegal campaign activity, violating federal election law.. oh, well read it yourself - looks like 10 more people will find out about this today - the media certainly never hounded Bill Clinton to explain it. Besides, all Clinton would have ever said, is “oh, leave James alone.. you know he just got caught up in that vast right wing conspiracy stuff, he’s a great guy, get over it.”
“…plead guilty to a felony charge of conspiring to defraud the United States by unlawfully reimbursing campaign donors with foreign corporate funds in violation of federal election law, the Justice Department’s Campaign Financing Task Force and the United States Attorney in Los Angeles announced today.
In addition, LippoBank California, a California state-chartered bank affiliated with Lippo Group, will plead guilty to 86 misdemeanor counts charging its agents, Riady and John Huang, with making illegal foreign campaign contributions from 1988 through 1994.
Riady is one of 26 people and two corporations charged by the Campaign Financing Task Force, which was established four years ago by Attorney General Janet Reno to investigate allegations of campaign financing abuses in the 1996 election cycle.”

A Chaldean priest and three deacons killed in Mosul
“Fr Ragheed Ganni, 34, was hit by gunfire in front of the Church of the Holy Spirit. Three deacons, who served as his aides, were also killed.”
“Baghdad (AsiaNews) – An armed group gunned down and killed Fr Ragheed Ganni and three of his aides. The murder took place right after Sunday mass in front of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Mosul where Father Ragheed was parish priest. Sources told AsiaNews that hours later the bodies were still lying in the street because no one dared retrieve them. Given the situation tensions in the area remain high.”
Isn’t that damned interesting? The same media that drools over EVERY BAD NEWS STORY out of Iraq (ESPECIALLY if our troops kill an innocent) amazingly doesn’t report CHRISTIANS being slaughtered in Iraq by islamofascist pigs?
No wonder the diseased liberal RAT pack wants to control the media including radio and the internet. Nazi pigs.

The woman’s finals at the french open in paris sans sharapova: nobody is watching. Why not? Who cares about Ugly Henin, that cap-wearing tomboy half man testosteroned horrid hybrid?
She’s simply unwatchable. Camera to Global Hurling, (projectile hurling)
So what if she can power-serve her way to four titles? Any man could.
Tennis isn’t just about having a muscular arm and the strength to overpower a woman. It’s about woman. The female mystique in skirts hopping around with a racket.
I strongly urge Sharapova’s coach to teach her how to power serve, her serve is only adequate. Concentrate on the serve, and know when to rush the net.

Its always hilarious to see how the should have been aborted liberal filth on here consistently puke up their sick racist lies about the Bush/Kennedy/McCain amnesty for illegal leeches betrayal of this country. Their manic, desperate lies show just how hopeless their destroy America dream has become as the folks realise that the illegal freeloading infestation will simply double under this odious self destructive sell out.

OMG, I agree with Mann Coulter:
“Fox News even brought in Ann Coulter, who complained that the 45-day sentence handed to Hilton was unfair, because it revealed how everyone hates Hilton. Men with Squeegees.
The AJC’s front page today has an article about full service gas stations. Their going extinct like the dinosaurs, (fossil fuels, get it?).
What data did the reporter, Marcus K. Garner, collect during his background research for this article?
That’s easy. He observed the proliferation of men with squeegees at New York City street corners.
I’ve never actually seen men with squeegees in Atlanta accosting cars at intersections. The defense against that, BTW, is to turn on your windshiled wipers and squirt the man with the squeegee in the eye with antifreeze. Works everytime.
That’s also the defense against tailgaters. Simply turn on your windshield wiper fluid on the back of your suv and the guy behind you gets it. Works everytime. (camera to enraged tailgater grabing his legally-concealed pistol and firing at the SUV with the suddenly clean rear window).
Dont worry he missed me. (camera to me taking a drink of gatorade and…niagra falls)
Gates scares me. Keep your eye on Gates. He wouldn’t have been appointed by Bush if he weren’t complicit in the Iraq Scam. “Dont give me a good general, give me a loyal crook”, joked W.
Well, what if Lincoln had wanted a loyal crook instead of a good general like grant? What if he wanted John Wilkes Booth to run the war? Then what would have happened, huh?
There IS a way to win this war, and it’s not celebrating D-Day by claiming that Hannity and Rush dittoheads are the only ones that appreciate or understand the valor of the greatest generation. That’s what right wing radio rant-kings have been bellowing about all week. The Right really is finished.
The last refuge of scoundrels is the blood of heroes. Remember that.
Sic Semper Fee Fie Fo Fum, Dumb Dumb.
The Right’s most conservative factions are aligning themselves as liberals to the point of paying more for haircuts, pointing out the quality of their suits, and professing their belief in a non-partisan caucasian god.
It truly is over for the Repudlickan Party.

Friday’s al Jazeera Urinal, bottom of page A1:
“Was it fog of war, or an act of war, in ‘67 attack?”
“Retired Navy Capt. Ward Boston, the chief counsel for the original court of inquiry, broke his silence on the issue with a 2004 affidavit that said that he and the presiding admiral believed the attack ‘was a deliberate effort to sink an American ship and murder its entire crew.”
Now any moonbat that REALLY believes the Israelis would intentionally murder Americans is probably of the ilk that believes that Bush planned 9/11 so he could “get that oil!”

We Americans have always been too lazy to do backbreaking work. Our founding fathers that we laud could afford to assemble and draft a document that we cherish because of slave labor. Do you think that there would have been a Thomas Jefferson, Madison et. al. if there had not been slave labor? After slavery ended former slave states realized that they had a huge population of idle, former slaves that they could not afford to hire and pay, and thus they were confronted with a “Negro Problem.” We passed Black Codes and Jim Crow Laws that we thought we could keep in place forever. That lasted about a century. As the posterity of former slaves began to educate themselves and move into the maistream we lazy Americans once again looked around for labor. We looked the other way as people south of the border streamed into the country, and now we a have an “Illegals Problem.” Now I ask you, when these “Illegals” assimilate and move into the mainstream where will we turn to for labor? We can outsource, but be careful what you ask for.

In my defense, I was only doing my part in the war on terror. Remember when Bush extolled all Americans to be vigilante, and to concoct attack plans against vulnerable targets, no matter how ridiculous, and notify the FBI if anything sticks?
Well, I took him seriously, and I approached some terrorists in a cell I blundered into over by Peachtree and MLK drive, you know, where it intersects with Ponce de Leon over by the Aquarium where it would only take one small cherry bomb to flood the entire Piedmont region (Katrina style).
Anyway, I approached the obvious terrorist who looked away and then started to run, while screaming something in Islamic Jihad, (ji-bonics?). Good thing I had my secret tape recorder gizmo. When I played it back for an imbedded translator at the FBI, it said, “I didn’t do it. It wasn’t me. It was Ahkmed. He made me help him. I am a peace loving suicide bomber!”
Well, I was awarded the purple sac for my alertness, and the FBI still doesn’t know what Ahkmed supposedly did, but I think it has to do with all that chinese castor oil that’s showing up in all our panda meal (that’s what must have turned poor Mai Len into such a monster).

“The American people hired Democrats last November to ensure that we end this war,” Dean said during the weekly Democratic radio address. “So let me be clear, we know that if we don’t keep our promise, we may find ourselves the minority again….
“We have to face the reality that Republicans in Congress are standing with President Bush as he stubbornly wields his veto pen,” Dean charged. In response, he proposed that the “one way to truly ensure we end this war” was to elect a Democrat as president in 2008.”

Now let me get this straight…a woman having an abortion for health reasons at taxpayers’ expense is too much involvement of the government, especially since a lot of taxpayers are opposed to abortion for any reason. However, the government using its police power to make me help pay for 13+ years of schooling for your spawn is appropriate, even though I may oppose the teaching of evolution. I have been reading this column for the last few weeks, mostly on the weekends. I must say, although I agree with Mr. Wooten alot, I really identify with the posters Wootendull and Markus because they are tough no-nonsense conservatives, yet they are the most gay-friendly of any of the posters on this blog, especially Wootendull, who seems to have a sixth-sense about the problems that gays face in our society, almost like he’s been there himself (although “he” might be a “she”, he sounds real “butch” when it comes to Iraq, I imagine him in his uniform patiently uploading his posts on a secure satellite link somewhere near Fallujah, covered with grit, and lacking a shower for the last few days - be still my heart! - just a stone’s throw from Democracy’s enemies, hunkered down for the USA).
Anyhow, Mr. Wooten, I was wondering if you ever held get-togethers for your posters? I would relish the opportunity to get to know all of your open-minded followers better - there are several guys that I would like to get to know better - jbmlaw, for one. That English guy that posts here - he’s not my type - (while I don’t mind a little man-funk, my experience with Englishmen is that they leave much to be desired in the personal hygiene department - and for me, a resident of the gayest state in the union, Alabama - to say that, it’s like the English have never heard of soap) might be fun to have a conversation with.
Perhaps the next time there’s a major body-building competition in town, you can hold a meeting of the regular conservative posters along with it. There’s nothing like a bunch of tough-talking regular guys (I’m thinking Markus the mechanic, with his slicked-back black hair and his cute potbelly) intently watching greased up muscle-men strutting their stuff to bring out the best in modern conservatism, I must say.
It would be good for conservative America’s morale.

Damn, nailing the drive by media, spoken like a true Conservative.
No wonder you Kandy As-s Kowards think she’s stupid, who cares about those icky soldiers, right pinko®?
Hopefully, this confession wasn’t rendered under torture, I’m sure you brave, courageous liberals have been poking sticks into her cage, teach her a lesson, huh, brave boy?

{{{ U.S., Italy clash over red coral. The United States is leading a push to protect a type of red coral that grows deep in oceans and seas, putting it at odds with Italian fishermen who have harvested the species for generations to make artwork and jewelry.}}}
Doesn’t the United States sound like some rogue nation out to violate Italy’s sovereignty just for the kicks?
And is this not the very first endangered species ever that the Kandy As-s Koward liberals have thrown themselves in front of to save?
Gee, I wonder why?
It just goes to show you, the only reason the liberals care about the environment is when they can score points against the United States or it’s Republican President.
It’s like nobody notices this crap.

{{{But no matter how loudly and vehemently some proclaim their narrow-minded views, those views simply cannot be the basis for public policy. It combines tough border enforcement with a path to legalization that includes penalties. It’s no easy forgiveness.-Queen Pinko, Urinal}}}
Next week, Cynthia Tucker’s column will berate Republicans with the failed health care, even though she wants to invite 20,000,000 uninsured from another country to come eat it up for free.
The week after that, it will be her “narrow minded view” on the “plight” of the middle class in America and their falling average wage, even though she just beckoned the whole entire country of Mexico to come and undercut the earning power of every American citizen.
Maybe we could do a column on slavery reparations, we can give these 20,000,000 indentured servants working for scratch a few good ideas on how to sue us in a few years to make up the difference to a “living wage?”
This Queen Pinko wants to hobble the United States, bring it to it’s knees.

Well, it’s now official; leftists are the equivalent of radical Jihadists, so says the NYT:
“The Guidebook for Taking a Life”
Islamic militants are hardly alone in seeking to rationalize innocent deaths, says John O. Voll, a professor of Islamic history at Georgetown University. “Whether you are talking about leftist radicals here in the 1960s, or the apologies for civilian collateral damage in Iraq that you get from the Pentagon, the argument is that if the action is just, the collateral damage is justifiable,” he says.
Well, there’s war that is unavoidable, and then there’s war against your own country and of your own making.
Another example of an American terrorist; not so domestic, but a terrorist just the same.
Tompkins, 64, is a hero to some for his environmental stewardship. Others resent his land purchases as a foreign challenge to their national patrimony.
Opposition lawmakers in both countries have sought unsuccessfully to expropriate Tompkins’ purchases or put limits on extremely large landholdings.
Tompkins insists he’ll eventually return the land to both governments to be preserved as nature reserves or parks, but will hold onto it for now “as a very good example of what private conservation can do.”
BUT…
Jose Luis Niella, a Catholic priest and social activist, said many poor people no longer have access to lands where ancestors lived freely for generations. “It’s not fair for him to be concerned only with protecting the environment,” Niella said.
I can just see him now; a young Al Gore during the radical 60’s raging against the corporate establishment with this to say:
“Industrial society seems likely to be entering a period of severe stress, due in part to problems of human behavior and in part to economic and environmental problems.”
But of course, nobody cared to do anything until the year 2000. The environmentalists were burning the candle at both ends. Standing in the way while leading the way. Yeah…right!

The bald eagle is officially about to become a “conservation success story” for the U.S. government, which has worked for more than three decades to help the national symbol recover from habitat destruction, illegal shooting and contamination of its food source.
Thank goodness for tree hugging hippies and conservationists!
Seriously, this is a victory for ALL Americans. Not only have we saved our national symbol from possible extinction, we may be saving out national legacy as well.
The ONLY people to lose? The developers who move into critical bald eagle areas, push the birds out and reduce their numbers. There is big money to be made in cutting down and developing bald eagle habitat.
Keep up the good work America!

JH, great post. If one hasn’t seen bald eagles in the wild, one hasn’t lived. But I think you misconstrue “conservationism” and “hippies” there. Torching SUVs and “McMansions” is not American any more than keying someone’s car because someone else thinks it’s harming the environment.

Jim Wooten is conflicted. His ambivalence stems from his abhorrence to witchcraft. The magic words, “No Amnesty”, has made Gonzolez and Iraq disappear. He’s truly conflicted.
The words “no amnesty” is from the conservative-to-lunatic fringe book of charms, spells and hoaxes meaning “they’re not here”. The Democrats are suggesting that 12 million Mexicans are here. The GOP wishes they werent and presto! like an errant Harry Potter, with a wave of the gavel, Gonzolez disappears. Then W and his magic veto pen makes Iraq disappear. The incantation: “The GOP want to support the troops. The Liberals want to support the aliens”.
Abra Cadaver, now it’s a question of patriotism. Are they patriots, or patent idiots? And just what is the counter-spell?
Politics, then, is controlled by magic and fear. We fear Mexicans. We dont like them. They are different. They are brown. They sound different. We dont like their faces or their words.
Therefore, the only motivation for Hispanic Homies is corporate greed. Are houses more affordable? Really? What would they cost if Mexicans weren’t here?
We still live in the Alamo. Walt Disney’s legacy was to brain wash an entire generation with coonskin caps, muskets, and powder horns. I am Davey Crocket, damn it! (fact: After Santa Anna surrendered, the militia under Sam Houston took a full two hours to slaughter the remnants of the surrendered core of that army. It was unbridled and illegal vivisection of a living army. The Mexicans had shot the survivors of the Alamo, it’s true, so I guess we were even).
The GOP has been saved by witchcraft. .
This kind of political relandscaping could only have been accomplished by employing Mexicans. Every time someone proposes a length of fence, someone else looks around and says, “we’re gonna need a bigger fence”.
Amnesty means they’re here. No! they’re not here! No Amnesty! (pop! gonzolez disappears. Pop! pop! Iraq disappears.)
Did you know that Davey Crockett kilt himself a bar when he was only 3?

You are absolutely right, Markus. A couple of years ago when I went home to see my mom in western Nebraska, for the first time, I saw several bald eagles near the Platte River and although I had seen some of these magnificent animals in Yellowstone as a boy, it was truly a thrill!
Conservation is one of several issues that really can unite us. Some things are so important that they trump the things that divide us so. All of us love our children. And we can leave a better world than the one we were left. (Oh the good old Boy Scouts) - liberal vs. conservative, democrat vs. republic, black vs. white, doesn’t really matter, if just put our minds and collective will to it.
And I agree that it is the far fringes of both sides that get much press, but do very little good in actually solving the problems.

al-Gitmo: Actually, it will probably be the Chinese that find the next planet for us to live on.
Our Kandy As-s Koward “space” agency will still be navel gazing at the Earth’s oceans, longing for them to please warm just another tenth of a degree.

When the Chinese government tells people that the Oceans may warm if we humans aren’t eliminated, the Chinese GOP just laughs at them.
Like we should be doing.
If this shuttle flames out coming back to Earth, NASA has killed more people this year than “global warming” has.

Either very uninformed, given to obnoxious exaggeration or truly hoping that the STS blows up, this blogger sounds a tad irrational. The problem with the tile is a minor one and not likely to severely damage the spacecraft.
Many of the astronauts at NASA are trained fighter pilots and in some cases still on active duty. Their education, intellect and courage is unmatched. Disrespecting them is particularly repulsive. The American space program is certainly imperfect but has always offered us one of the truly great hopes for mankind’s future.

In other ways I’m fairly liberal - although I hate these excessive abortion, I’m pro choice. I also tolerate, but don’t sanction homosexuality.
I have voted for Reagan, Clinton and Nader. And I begrudgingly voted for Purdue. So I’m kind of all over the map and don’t give my allegiance to any party or person.

This is scary stuff.
A British company has been closed down after being caught in an apparent attempt to sell black-market weapons-grade uranium to Iran and Sudan, The Observer can reveal. Anti-terrorist officers and MI6 are now investigating a wider British-based plot allegedly to supply Iran with material for use in a nuclear weapons programme. One person has already been charged with attempting to proliferate ‘weapons of mass destruction’.
{{{During the 20-month investigation, which also involved MI5 and Customs and Excise, a group of Britons was tracked as they obtained weapons-grade uranium from the black market in Russia. Investigators believe it was intended for export to Sudan and on to Iran.
A number of Britons, who are understood to have links with Islamic terrorists abroad, remain under surveillance. Investigators believe they have uncovered the first proof that al-Qaeda supporters have been actively engaged in developing an atomic capability. }}}

Shirley, you jest! I just can’t begin to imagine what exactly you are referring to, but would like very much to know specifically what you mean.
I’m thinking more along the lines of the awe inspiring Hubble Telescope that has allowed us to peer to the very ends of the known universe and to gain an even better understanding of the cosmos and how it works.
Also the vast number of technologies that have found practical and beneficial earth bound uses. And I’m not talking about Tang!
And the ISS allows us to do long-term experiments in space in a wide variety of fields from micro-technology to biology to human physiology. And the fact that it is truly an international effort helps us realize that all men are in this crazy game of life together.

Dude: Did you miss the Challenger disaster too?
Check this out, drop the junk science and focus on building a shuttle or some other space vehicle that doesn’t burst into flames during flight, you know what I mean?
Concentrate all of their energies an their stated, tax payer funded mission, instead of playing in the Oceans?
You do realize that these goofballs launched the Hubble into orbit with the wrong lens installed and had to send another shuttle up to refocus it at less than it’s planned capacity?
Just imagine for a moment what that cost.
This is how you define success, the benchmark being a shuttle mission that doesn’t crash land into the Ocean?
Geez.
Me, I’m thinking it’s good that the Russians ran out of money because they would be on Jupiter right now, thumbing their nose at us.
A new study by NASA scientists finds that the world’s temperature is reaching a level that has not been seen in thousands of years. The study, led by James Hansen of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, N.Y In contrast to the Western Pacific, the researchers find that the Eastern Pacific Ocean has not shown an equal magnitude of warming. They explain the lesser warming in the East Pacific Ocean, near South America, as being due to the fact this region is kept cool by upwelling, rising of deeper colder water to shallower depths. Hansen and his colleagues suggest that the increased temperature difference between the Western and Eastern Pacific may boost the likelihood of strong El Ninos.
1) What is this as-shole doing in the ocean? Wouldn’t that be the tax payer funded mission of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration?
2) Why is this as-shole making silly implausible excuses for the findings that don’t fit his agenda?
There is BIG MONEY IN CLIMATE CHANGE and all of these career government goonies are jockeying around trying to seize some of it.
If they don’t have tax payer money, they don’t like get paid?

The Clintons and now Pelosi? It’s a good thing I don’t place much value on polls.
Database company InfoUSA, under fire from a shareholder lawsuit for the millions paid to the Clintons, is pushing its tentacles deeper into the bowels of the Democratic Party.
Nancy Pelosi’s son, Paul Pelosi Jr., was hired by InfoUSA four weeks after she ascended to the House speakership. He is paid $180,000 a year as senior vice president for strategic planning.
The corrupting politics always in evidence around the Clintons has Gupta’s firm recently buying Opinion Research Corporation, which now is the polling operation for CNN. Just in time for Hillary’s presidential bid.
If America’s voters have a shred of dignity, they won’t once again allow the moral offensiveness of the Clinton empire to befoul the White House.
Let’s all keep in mind that InfoUSA is the same company that sold database info on the elderly. Those same databases were later used by scam artists to bilk the elderly out of their life savings.
Shameful…just shameful! and then we have William Jefferson(D)?
Please tell me this isn’t true.
419 scam has links to US
Former vice-president Atiku Abubakar said in a statement that Lousiana Democrat William Jefferson, who is under a bribery indictment in the US, tried to legitimise his business ventures by linking them to Abubakar.

The “science” I referred to was the junk science of global warming
Oh, I see. I had forgotten that NASA was one of the now seemingly countless scientific organizations that believes that the evidence supporting global warming is at least partially explained by man’s addiction to fossil fuels.
And I must admit I’ve never known anyone who used the word environmentalist in such a pejorative manner. Silly me, I always thought that people who protect the air, water, animals, plants, and other natural resources from pollution or its effects were to be commended. Yes, a small minority is misguided and extremist and those are probably the ones you concentrate on. Look for only the bad in people or organizations and I guess you can always find it.
But I think you misunderstand me, Buy Danish. I am not interested in persuading or convincing you that NASA is not one of the bad guys or that their work isn’t quackery and done to gain the good will of the hated liberals. And based on his harangues and asinine assertions that NASA can only look into space and not at the earth, or her volcanoes, oceans, forests etc., I’ve already reached the conclusion that WD is completely over-the-edge hopeless.
So believe what you will. I just think that in spite of your claims to the contrary, you have concocted a great conspiracy that simply doesn’t exist. You demonize everyone, including NASA, who supports this theory that you so clearly don’t. And in so doing, this becomes the utmost consideration and you fail to see the much more important issues and benefits surrounding this organization. I’m sure you have your reasons, but I’ll put my money on NASA, their overall track record of excellence and discovery, their vast experience and knowledge and the best science available.

Wingnut logic on Darfur dictates we should not have saved the Jews from the Nazis.
If the wingnuts would fight in Iraq like they fight global warming is not real, the occupation would be won.
Have the wingnuts ever been right on anything?
I think not.

Uh oh. Iraqis are getting sick and tired of the diseased liberal demoncat’s heroes, al Qaeda. What the hell with the al Jazeera Urinal and CNN have to report with down the road ever do with their Bushwadded pretty pink panties?
“The Iraqi government has long declared its determination to root out terrorists in the country, and its security forces have been fighting Al Qaeda for months. But now, ordinary Iraqis, most significantly Sunni Arabs in Al Anbar province (until now the chief supporters of the terrorists), are putting their lives on the line against Al Qaeda as well.”
Yes, let’s pull out now effin’ stupid idiots.

Nothing like a good fight in ‘Bama. One RAT congressman calls a Republican an SOB and said Republican retaliates with a SWEET blow to the head on the sick RAT. Nice, VERY nice. I love it. To hell with words.

The number 6 democrat candidate announced that he wants to bomb Darfur, now all these Kowards are manning up:
{{{By getalife June 10, 2007 5:34 PM Wingnut logic on Darfur dictates we should not have saved the Jews from the Nazis.}}}
Before this morning, none of the other 12 pinkos knew there was a Darfur, now they got the hots for the U.S. Air Force, which they also knew nothing about before this morning.
Geez.
Anybody want to bet that if Bush were to take Biden’s advice, all of the other dullards would quickly figure out what “enforcing a no fly zone” meant and would promptly freak out?
And start calling for us to cut and run from the quagmire in Darfur?
Geez, you think we don’t remember?
This is an unbelievably pitiful field of Kowards that are running in 08, we don’t even need lazy Fred to defeat these clowns.
If I were a lib, I’d be longing for Micheal Dukakis.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ®.

“Have the wingnuts ever been right on anything?”
Well, I was “right” today to the tune of some $x,xxx. {smile}
But, it’s kinda hard to say who’s “right” about things like Iraq when history is still in the writing phase. You idiot liberals want to rewrite past history and change the course of the future (and jeopardize US security) solely on your selfish and pathetic cause of Bush/Republican hating.

You idiotic neo-cons do realize that virtually the entire educated world rejects your unfounded nonsense and childish claims that mankind has n-o-t-h-i-n-g to do with global warming, right? You have heard that almost everyone now thinks you are ignorant and willfully blind, right? And you do know that all but a minuscule percentage of the experts think you are merely ridiculous simpletons, right? And you losers publicizing your stupidity and venom is N-E-V-E-R going to change that!
Fortunately the world will never be run by 15th century morons like yourselves again. You have N-O chance to win this debate. You are completely ill-equipped and you will never be trusted to speak the truth. You are only destined to fail miserably and the entire world is ignoring your pathetic and futile attempts.
Go burn some books, you cretins.

{{{You demonize everyone, including NASA, who supports this theory that you so clearly don’t.}}}
JoJo,
What evidence do you have of that^^^sweeping theory?
Have you been lurking at this blog for a long time and only just decided to speak up today?
Well since we’re making sweeping assumptions, I’m going to assume that you don’t really know squat about the “science” of “global warming” one way or the other.
