Evacuees, Iraq war plan, traffic mess
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Thinking Right’s Friday free-for-all. Pick a topic:
• Good news is bad news: Gas prices falling. But … drivers may return to driving habits deemed to be socially undesirable.
• Speaking of “buts …” Guess the next word to follow in the first sentence of this good-news story about the deficit: “The deficit picture has improved …” And what’s the next word? You got it. There’s a “bleak reminder” that no good news is.
• Good news, bad news: You’re Time’s Person of the Year. But … it’s your fault that kidnapper Gary Steven Krist went bad again and took to cocaine smuggling. You wouldn’t let him practice medicine. He’s very mad at you.
• One thing I don’t like about programs such as American Idol: It’s cruel to exploit people for amusement, especially those who are desperate.
• A state employee who can get as excited as archivist Gregory Jarrell of Morrow was in discovering the state’s only official copy of the Declaration of Independence not only has found a treasure — but is one.
• An ethics complaint based on “common knowledge” was, and should have been dismissed, against Georgia House Speaker Glenn Richardson (R-Hiram). The Democrats who ran Georgia for 134 years surely do not want to establish “common knowledge” of “inappropriate personal” relationships as the standard for indicting either the living or the dead.
• The Georgia Lottery has the best public relations machine in the state — better even than the panda. Press releases focusing on how much money it raises “for education” are read or reported almost verbatim by most news organizations. They never say how much Georgians “lost” to state-sanctioned gambling. Of course, I don’t mind gambling when the winners are working people such as David Wayne Sharpton, a Barrow County service technician, who still works after winning almost $4 million with scratch-offs. Everything about his life, including the way he gambled and the way he managed his life after winning, is evidence of somebody who has his head screwed on straight.
• Seventeen months after Hurricane Katrina, a New Orleans evacuee in Atlanta sits in his Midtown Atlanta apartment, insisting that taxpayers, through the Federal Emergency Management Agency, owe him $6,000 in rental assistance, and waiting for his old job and a place to live. He has no plans to look for work. “The only requirement I should have is that I’m an evacuee,” he said at a gathering of Katrina evacuees. “Don’t tell me to work on somebody’s job when I’m planning to go back to New Orleans.” Seventeen months. No job. Not looking.
• AJC.com headline: “Man dead at church.” Of starvation? I’ve survived sermons that pushed me to the brink.
• Show us the way. U.S. Sen. Jim Webb (D-Va.), in giving the Democratic response to the State of the Union, said President Bush should take the “right kind of action for the benefit of the American people and for the health of our relations around the world.” Those are not necessarily the same. But Webb continued: “If he does, we will join him. If he does not we will show him the way.” Starting, one supposes, with a Democratic plan to succeed in Iraq. Right now they’re looking for a face-saving way to run.
• Republicans who vote for the Democratic resolution to block an increase in troop strength in Iraq, in whatever form, should be defeated. It is a resolution that speaks directly to the enemy.
• What government touches. … China’s one-child policy to combat global warming, oops, over-population leads to too few marriageable girls. In some areas of China, 130 boys were born in 2005 for every 100 girls. Now China is considering incentives for couples having daughters and punishment for gender-driven abortions. Incentivize desirable behaviors, discriminate against undesirable.
• A Fulton Superior Court judge approves the sale of up to $200 million in tax allocation district bonds for the proposed Beltline rail line in Atlanta. Local governments should check or even halt the expansion of tax allocation districts until their impact on other property-tax payers is fully assessed. All those kids and all that traffic and all the other services have to be paid for — and for decades, mostly by taxpayers outside the district.
• President Bush asks for a 20 percent reduction in gasoline use within a decade. OK. Fix gridlock — so that traffic actually moves, thereby reducing our fuel consumption.

Good afternoon, Jim,
I didn’t see this posted until 5:30 P.M.!
Let me add another subject for “Thinking Right…Friday.”
I am no fan of Dick Cheney’s, and I approved of Wolf Blitzer’s grilling of him about Iraq on CNN this past Wednesday. However, when Blitzer got into the issue of Mary Cheney, the Vice President’s pregnant, gay daughter, he crossed the line.
If Blitzer was a politician and running for office, I would go into his district and campaign against him!
Unfortunately, he is an example of the post-modern journalist. When doing a “news” story, instead of seeking the story, uncovering the truth, and getting at reality, he wants to mold the news by editorializing within the interview process. I thought the Vice President restrained himself quite well. I felt like smacking Blitzer myself.
In The Situation Room, “Wolfie” should stick to straight reporting and leave the editorializing to Jim and me! Of course, he could always contribute to the Thinking Right blog.

When you belong to a group seeking to deny rights to another group which your own daughter - who has campaigned for her father openly thus placing herself squarely in the public politically arena - belongs to, the issue IS fair game.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush’s father accused the news media of “personal animosity” toward his son. “It’s one thing to have an adversarial … relationship — hard-hitting journalism — it’s another when the journalists’ rhetoric goes beyond skepticism and goes over the line into overt, unrelenting hostility and personal animosity,” former President George Bush said.
We’ll see how much the libs value the old man’s opinion today, won’t we?
Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates said yesterday that Congress’ push to oppose President Bush’s troop increase in Iraq “emboldens the enemy” and undercuts the commanders in the field. Sen. Edward “Swimmer” Kennedy, Massachusetts Democrat, called Mr. Gates’ statement “a desperate attempt” to bolster the president’s policy.
I can think of a better use for the phrase “desperate attempt,” like what was not given to save Mary Jo Kopechne’s life.
2 charged in school scandal involving students, troops. A South Carolina National Guardsman and a former high school cheerleading coach allegedly had sex with students, They do not face sex charges because the teens were old enough to consent.
Old enough to consent, eh?
Because all the students involved were 16 or older, none of the adults will be charged because the teens were old enough to consent under state law, according to the sheriff’s reports.
How quickly the lib’s story changes when there is a teacher involved:
WASHINGTON (CNN) — The top three Republicans in the House assailed Rep. Mark Foley Saturday over his e-mails to a teenage male page and said his resignation was not enough.
Remember that?
What else do you libs apologize for or cover up?
Military alters account of 4 GI deaths in Iraq U.S. first reported that 5 soldiers were killed in raid by terrorists in disguise. It now admits 4 were captured and taken away to be shot in another province. Urinal Front Page, so proud aren’t you?
Huh, so they weren’t read their 5th amendment rights, taken to their lawyers and freed after a few hours?
Like we do with the killers of innocent women and children, every day?
I thought tip toeing around Iraq would earn us “some respect in the world?”
Just more liberal BS, as usual.
Minority Leader John A. Boehner of Ohio on Thursday identified Iraq as “first and foremost” why Republicans lost their congressional majority in November’s midterm elections. Mr. Bush told members he understands the war poses a political difficulty for them. “That reminds people he really does get it,” Mr. Putnam said.
In other words the Republicans could immediately improve their domestic political opportunities if they abandoned the troops and the war on Islamic Fascism, like the democrats have.
But they don’t.
America is more important to them then some stupid political office. It’s called Courage of Conviction, which is something a lib knows nothing about.

Joe L,
You would expect the Vice President’s daughter to campaign for Hillary!?!
Mary Cheney, were she not the VP’s daughter, would be an inconsequential.
Getalife,
It just seems to me (and remember that I am NOT a Cheney fan) that Blitzer, by going after a purely personal situation that is not going to save one life in Iraq or make the country one iota stronger or safer here at home, made himself and the professional of journalism look petty. In fact, one could reason (though it would be a hell-of-a stretch) that Blitzer was being anti-gay in his inquiry.

Mid south? The evangelical right rose to power on guns, gods and gays. The issue is implied in every interview with the right.
I wish gay marriage was our only serious problem. However, there is evidence of a new front in the war on terror.
The execution of four US soldiers who were kidnapped during a raid in Baghdad exposes sophisticated, multi-tiered inter-factional collusion. Think about this: The enemy knew where and when. The raid went with clockwork precision, like it had been rehearsed over and over. The enemy acted like there was no risk to themselves or their suvs. How could the enemy have such resources and intel at their disposal? Also, the raiders spoke like americans. That means that the enemy has a repertoire of different soldier-types to choose from when planning raids.
This is evidence of a new front in the war on terror: an insidious, military/political network of Iraqi revolutionaries with the potential to identify and torpedo any evolution toward a self-sustaining, self-governing Iraq that can defend itself.
The most alarming aspect of this raid is that it indicates that it’s very possible for disquised Iraqis, acting and looking like americans, to cross the border into iran and massacre innocents, with surviving eyewitnesses all swearing that “it were the gringos what ate their babies”.
This raid has removed any shadow of doubt that the middle east is on the brink of a wider war, which will cost us trillions, and yet do nothing to stop the 911 conspirators who are still free to strike us anywhere, anytime.
Gay marriage? Yeah, that’s a real problem. Can our country survive? Yes, but only if we declare “Marsha- Marsha-Marsha Law”. (three mommies?)

I’m against asking the VP about his gay dotter, who is in the fambly way. Course, if it was that Pelousy woman, I’d be for it. These libruls all want to make us conservatives look bad. Cheney can be a proud grandpa and still be against gay marriage. Last I heard, his dotter ain’t married to that woman that got her in the fambly way. So there’s no problem.
Them New Orleans bums need to get to work. Instead of waiting for a handout from us tax payers. I’m sick of paying taxes to support Those People. And that’s what the New Orleans people are.
And I’m against libruls bringing up affairs of god-fearing Republicans in the state house. So he fools around a little? I bet he goes to church on Sunday, and that makes everything all right. You can do a lot of bad things and go to church and get forgiveness.
Well, it’s a good weekend. Me and Jim Earl is going to watch the snowmobil races on TV. NASCAR ain’t started yet, so we got to make the best we can out of a bad situation. Anyway, I hope TFTT and Markus and Realist and MidSouth and Dusty and Van and all the other god-fearing conservatives give the libruls a good tanning. Don’t forget to stock up on booze today. I wouldn’t want nobody to make a mockry of my sabbath by trying to buy it on Sunday, like that librul getalife wants to do. If you ain’t got sense enough to lay in a few cases today, you got no business drinking. And none of that cheating by trying to run it by the self checkout cash register. You got to respeck my religion, we are the majority. Sister Dusty, Joe Bill says he’s got a big rattler for you to handle tomorrow morning. That fella ain’t got a chance. He’ll be begging to get out of that church when you start giving him a ear full.

WootenDull,
Speaking of Republicans standing up for what’s right rather than what’s expedient, John McCain actually did the other night after the SotU speech.
I’ve long held the feeling that I could never vote for McCain and I still tend to feel he’ll backstab anyone along the way, but the other night when asked if his support for the troop surge could cost him the Presidency he said that sure it could, but it was far more important to win this battle than to win any political office. He may be able to gain my vote after all if he manages to stay consistent with that kind of thinking.

Jim Webb….just another Democratic “loose cannon” aimed at President Bush instead of our enemies.
Jim says the price of gas is down. Excuse me while I take the Cavalier (American made GM car) over to QT and fill it up. But I shall drive very conservatively to help the president cut that 20% gas usage. I may even fly more to cut down on my driving. Cheers!

I don’t think we’re all that different from China when it comes to kids. Kill them before they’re born or kill them with neglect after they’re born. It’s the communist way. No appreciation for life until it impacts the social order.

I guess Madame Speaker wants to try to demoralize the troops one soldier at a time if need be.
Instead, with her eyes firmly fixed in the rear-view mirror and on domestic politics, Pelosi seeks to lure the analyst into a discussion of the intelligence from five years ago that led to the decision to go to war - something clearly outside the soldier’s areas of responsibility or expertise.
This is not “fact-finding” - it’s an attempt to use our brave soldiers as extras in Pelosi’s political stunt film. Has anyone seen a MSM report on Pelosi’s attempt to exploit the solider for political ends? Neither have I.

If this administration wants to rein in the Shia death squads in Iraq (not sure how to deal with the Sunnis), they need to stop wasting their time with al Maliki (sp?) and speak with Sistani. Sistani is the one person who all the Shia in Iraq listen to. He was the reason Bush had to hold the elections earlier than he wanted to. Funny thing, he refuses to speak with anyone from the US because he wants us out of their country. I bet if the US was willing to give him a timeline on a departure, he could get most of the Shia to stop fighting. Of course, since the Saudis (remember them, they along with China gave President Bush the credit card he is using the pay for this boondoggle) don’t want this, so it will never happen.

Jim Wooten writes; “Show us the way. U.S. Sen. Jim Webb (D-Va.), in giving the Democratic response to the State of the Union, said President Bush should take the “right kind of action for the benefit of the American people and for the health of our relations around the world…If he does, we will join him. If he does not we will show him the way.” Starting, one supposes, with a Democratic plan to succeed in Iraq. Right now they’re looking for a face-saving way to run.”
Mr. Wooten has drawn a line in the sand.
While I do not condone the spineless Democrats who, to play it politically safe, supported the unnecessary attack on Iraq, it is the puppet Republican party under the neocon leadership of George W. Bush who are responsibile for the mess that is today’s Iraq. And for that matter, failed American policies in the Middle-East.
Although under a dictatorship, prior to the Bush attack, Iraq was reasonably stable and America was getting its oil with NO LOSS of American military lives.
Whether Democrats can do it or not, I don’t know. But let’s admit, Mr. Wooten, as American soldiers are STILL DYING, it is the Republicans who are, AND SHOULD BE, looking for “a face-saving way to run.”
The only thing Bush and the Republicans can come up with is to propose more of their same failed “face-saving” policies.
We’ve lost this war, Mr. Wooten.
Bring the soldiers home.
You don’t have to be a blind conservative not to see it, just an ignorant one to deny it.

I am a voter that neither party wants. I am too much in the middle. I split the issues and refuse to be polarized by one specific issue, such as the war in Iraq. I refuse to demonstrate over abortion rights, either way. I belong neither to the religious right or the atheist left. I refuse to accept 20 pages of plank from either the Democratic or Republican Party and support every single issue in automaton fashion.
I believe in the death penalty. I believe in a woman’s right to choose. I believe in the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman. I believe personal morals and ethics matter, no matter which side of the aisle you sit on. I believe in a strong military presence that discourages our enemies and encourages our allies. I believe a country as rich as the United States should be open to opportunity for all of its citizens. I believe that immigrants should only be here legally, and that the criminals who come here should be incarcerated and then deported permanently. I believe in the goodness of the American people to help each other, and that it should be encouraged domestically and abroad. I do not believe that any president who has not served in the military, or who dodged the draft, should be allowed to be commander in chief. Non military veterans should be banned from serving as Secretary of Defense and military veterans should not serve as Secretary of State. I believe that public expression on issues of national security should be done cautiously with a view of the consequences of those actions. Just ask General Giap what those are. I believe that our leaders need to be held to the standards of cowboys: my word is my bond, my family name is sacred, I will be a straight shooter and cowboy up. I believe that the terrorist threat to the United States will not come from 90 year old Caucasian or African American grandmothers entering airplanes. Profiling is effective in Israel, and should be used here. I believe that no terrorist group that uses women and children as weapons, or hides behind them while firing weapons, deserves a seat at any table. Talking to or negotiating with these groups should be against our laws and our conscience. Finally, I believe the United States is actually in great shape, not withstanding the impression the idiots we elect or our “free press” want us to believe. Life is cyclical, and we have been here before and we will be here again. The ride is up and down, not straight line. That is called dead.

RW-(the original: I guess it must be a liberal thing to want to go after the people who attacked us and their sponsors, like Bin Laden, the taliban and Pakistan (the taliban’s sponsor). Not to mention Saudi Arabia, where a lot of Al Queda’s money came from. Then again, since they are our pusher (both for oil and for the debt that President Bush is racking up), we have to do what they tell us. I guess the conservative approach is to divert our resources and invade a country that did not pose a threat to us and had not attacked us. Meanwhile, the taliban is having a resurgence, opium production is at record levels and Bin Laden is sitting in a cave somewhere laughing at us.

jm,
Think about how silly it sounds when you say Bin Laden is sitting in a cave laughing at us.
I bet the monkeys in the zoo think we’re the ones that are trapped too because we’re wandering around outside of a nice cozy cage.
As for the rest of your leftist drivel you have no vision whatsoever of what it will take to defeat this enemy and I’m afraid there are too many like you for us to win it. Once you are successful in getting the US to surrender our efforts in the Middle East the consequences will be dire and simply a matter of time. Aren’t you glad that you and those that want our destruction are in this together?

Bin Laden has released a new video, and I just happen to have a transcript of the text:
“Good evening, Ladies, Gentlemen, and Germs. I just flew in from Kabul, and boy, are my wife’s arms tired! My arms are tired too, not from flying, but from beating my wife during the flight. I had to beat her. She would not believe it wasn’t me who put the anthrax in her douchebags. I did not do it. Why wouldn’t she believe me? Anyway, I’ve been thinking that it’s not a good idea to conduct bio-chem warfare anymore. Why? Cause last night my wife contracted the inhalation form of PMS! It was terrible. I had to beat her again!
You know, I miss the good old days when I was anonymous. I could go anywhere, even to New York. Not that long ago I visited Broadway. I’m still trying to decypher all the coded messages in the Vagina Monologue.
Oh well, time to go, I hear the B-52’s overhead, and they aint singing love shack, baby.”

By silver January 27, 2007 12:39 PM Silver is male, rich, and burns american resources like they were paper. Silver is correct, as the dollar is just a piece of green paper soon to be worthless, but for now it buys gasoline for silver hummer, his boat, and all his other toys. When the dollar is worthless, and it will be one day soon, silver’s investments in Europe and Asia, and his physical holdings of gold and Silver in Candada will still guarantee Silver’s plush life style. As for the rest of you, learn to walk and live on beans, because that is all you will have in say five years. So 12:14 was a guilt trip, loser? Sort of like going to Church and confessing your sins, only except you skip the Church part?
Isn’t that so much like the way of the pinko, laid up in the most powerful, freest and richest country in the world, lavishly enjoying her freedom’s, except for that tinge of silly a-ss elitist liberal guilt, knowing full well that they she’s not earned any of it and insanely wishing the rest of us back into the fields, toiling all day in a socialist worker’s paradise, somehow paying “slyvia’s” penance for her?

TW,
Look who doesn’t want us to take any action against the Iranians:
A senior intelligence officer was more wary of the ambitions of the strategy.
“This has little to do with Iraq. It’s all about pushing Iran’s buttons. It is purely political,” the official said. The official expressed similar views about other new efforts aimed at Iran, suggesting that the United States is escalating toward an unnecessary conflict to shift attention away from Iraq and to blame Iran for the United States’ increasing inability to stanch the violence there.
Gosh, do you think this person could be a liberal? It’s clear that this person doesn’t want us to quell the Iranian-fueled chaos in Iraq - that would be bad for the Democrats.

Still spreading lies and disinformation, I see. Typical. So very, very typical.
after reading this thread, I come away more and more gratified and thankful that the American people woke up and voted the Republic Bush enablers out of office this past November.
As a matter of fact, after reading the daily ignorant rantings, ravings and bleatings of the herd of cheerleading sheep, I grow more grateful to the clear-thinking American populace.
You people (read: Bush Bots) are disgusting, delusional, ignorant and just plain all around stupid and dangerous.
you never met a fact that you didn’t twist, or a truth that you don’t ignore. The reality-based community obviously has left you behind.
I’m quite sure RW will respond with his ever boring and equally stupid “parrot” comments, but that’s ok, as he only reinforces my point. But then again, when faced with the truth, what else can he say? It’s much easier to resort to the childish pet names than to face the truth about himself and the loser that he constantly tries to prop up as a “leader among men”.
I just wish he’d update his material. Maybe Fox News can help him out in choosing some more “pet names”? Or Rush? Hannity? I’m quite sure they have a treasure trove in their dumpsters of limited imagination that he so enthusiastically likes to dive into.

No I don’t give him a pass on that. I’m part of the group that doesn’t approve of the way we’ve been fighting the war in Iraq. The ones that jm naively thinks are on his side.
There are quite a few of us that think we haven’t been fighting the Iranian and Syrian influences hard enough. I’m glad to see that is changing and hope we’ll see it through because the war we are fighting in Iraq right now doesn’t have as much to do with Iraq as it does with the overall war against Islmofascism.

Ah, that was a refreshing power nap. Ah see the peasants have been misbehaving during my post coital slumber. Silver believes you people are idiots, the world is not divided just between liberals and conservatives, actually most people are something else. Silver is part secular humanist, part hedonist, and part psychopath (but aren’t we all?), but Silver does try to repress the psychopathology until the situation is right for a real fun romp. More than anything else, Silver is a realist, and he recognizes the lies of the neocons for what they are, self serving memes. Frankly, Silver enjoys war, Silver hopes America remains at war forever and a day. Silver feels no guilt, no shame, no fear, just the thrill of opportunity. The death of american money and power will leave a void that can be taken advantage of in many ways, and Silver plots daily to take unfair advantage at the most opportune moments. Silver supports the surge of troops into Iraq and Afganistan, as that drain on american resources plays right into Silvers investment strategies. Silver also supports an invasion of Iran for similar reasons. Silver suspect Cheney and his ilk are thinking along the same lines, and they have positioned themselves to profit also. The memes they utter are just for the stupid ditto heads to repeat into the public ear. Silver supports the draft, as it will rid him of those pesky 20 something males who seem to get all the hot babes, not that they deserve or can afford them. Silver hopes the draft will result in a reduced cost of pleasure units, and many more choices.

Funny thing about those iranians supporting the shia in iraq. After the first President Bush encouraged them to rebel against Saddam (who based up current Bush definitions for the middle east would be considered a “moderate”) and then abandoned them, it was the iranians who provided them aid (and in some cases shelter). As long as the US is occupying Iraq (we are no longer liberators, we are occupiers in the iraqi’s eyes), the iraqi shia will take the iranian assistance. But, if RW had studied his history as well as his koran, he would also realize that the arabs of iraq and the persians of iran, while both shia, don’t exactly get along. Based upon history, it is extremely unlikely that a shia led iraq would become a satellite of iran. An ally maybe, but not a puppet.

Cheney keeps referring to the success of the Iraq War. He gave a detailed list of how much success we’ve achieved in Iraq to Chris Mathews. Last sunday. “Removed Saddam”. etc.
Cheney thinks Saddam would now be involved in a nuclear arms race with Iran if we didn’t step in. Imagine a nuclear exchange between Iraq and Iraq! What were we thinking?
Cheney is getting weirder by the day. That low-key squawked monotoned delivery is starting to scare even me.
The only possible answer is that they are hiding intel about something really horrendous so that we all dont panic. There has to be a hidden motive to the Iraq War which has yet to be revealed.

Silly Rabbit, the fear you see in Cheney and his ilk comes from three sources: 1) they know the american dollar is doomed, and that they have done much to doom it sooner rather than later; 2) they know american military power is over rated, and only our nuclear weapons allow us to continue the illusion that we rule the world; 3) the oil situation is much worse for us than for the rest of the world because of 1) above, and the fact that we consume 25 percent of the worlds oil. Mexico is pumping the last of its super giant oil field, with nothing to replace the lost production. They are our second largest source of foreign oil. Domestic oil production is droping daily, with nothing to replace it. All that is left is mid east oil as our salvation, and we can only have that if we maintain the status quo, that is the current corrupt old men in Saudia Arabia must remain in power and accept more and more of our paper dollars for their valuable oil. We can’t guarantee the status quo, and everday it appears more and more likely that the arab world will break free of american domination. The Arabs have China and Russia and Europe as customers even after the dollar dies. So we are screwed.

TWit,
There are plenty of vulgar and arrogant leftist “patriots” like Silver, Sgt. Badass, and PoFo the Rabbit to practice your “debating skills” with.
Include me out.
Thanks in advance.

By RW-(the original) writes @ 02:38 PM | Dennis, “We’ve been getting attacked by radical Muslims since at least 1983 so it’s more than a little silly to be blaming President Bush for it and claim that he and his cronies cooked it up for the military industrial complex.”
I can quickly admit that we have been attacked by radicals before GWB. But perhaps unlike you?, I also can admit our own acts of terrorism whenever it has suited the purpose of our “military-industrial” complex and still does.
There’s more to terrorism than just killing and blowing up people and places. It’s all well documented including here at home if you are not afraid of looking at it as a man with an open mind.
Therefore, you might want to answer your own question; “Do you guys ever back any of your accusations with fact [that it’s always been “them” and “not us”] or is the accusation [of the ilk of GWB/Cheney] enough for you?”
You don’t have to be a blind conservative not to see it, just an ignorant one to deny it.

Sorry RW, but I find it hard to believe that the sunni insurgency has continued all this time with the weapons that Saddam, whose only religion was the cult of Saddam, had stashed around the country. Especially, when you consider the satellite and fly over the surveillance the country has been under since the end of the first Gulf War.
As for al Queda, like al Sadr and the Mahdi Army, they have President George W. Bush to thank for creating the power vacuum that allowed them to gain a foothold.

Sgt. Badass,
Would you mind cleaning up your act?
In the first place, you are one big phony as everybody knows.
You’ve got a mouth that a sewer would reject.
You are someone’s alter ego here who doesn’t want us to know what a dirty mind he has and tries to conjure up a conservative. What a joke!
Here’s your white flag. Now march off into the sunset with silly silver rabbit and the rest of your liberal cut’n’run crew.

Dennis,
Nice rant and not a single fact, episode, or link. No wonder our kids are having a tough time learning anything with morons like you “teaching” them.
I don’t buy your idiotic moral equivalence or your insinuation that we deserve to be attacked for perceived wrongs. Islamic radicals are attempting to build a world wide caliphate so how is the US causing that?
TW,
Where don’t we “invest?” Local tax, State tax, Federal income tax, medicare, the ponzi scheme known as social security, sales tax, gas tax, “sin” tax on whatever the government feels they can get away with, property tax, school tax, ad valorem tax and a myriad of other taxes. Then when you need any government service you have to pay fees for document copying, usage fees, license fees etc.
So when some dumbass liberal comes along and wants to call it an “investment” so we’ll feel all warm and cozy about being taxed up to our eyeballs, don’t expect a pleasant reaction from small government conservatives like BD or myself.

They didn’t just come in during a power vacuum and immediately have arms, contacts, and safe houses. I’m sorry that you are so blinded by BDS that you can’t see that.

Sgt. Larda-ss: You don’t have to knock, good buddy, besides I’m old and senile and can’t hear very well any more. Just press your palm and four fingers firmly against the front glass, this will set off the motion detector and I will answer the alarm.
Be sure to stand directly in front of the door, this way I will know it’s you pal, and I will let you have it, er, umm, in.

Rw, do you want to discuss anything, or do you just want to argue?
Our foreign policy is based largely on ideas expressed by George Kennan in a Policy Plannig Study 23 (PPS23) Foewign Relations of the Unitred States (FRUS), 1948.
“We have about 50% of the world’s wealth, but only 6.3% of its population…. In this situation, we cannot fail to be the object of envy and resentment. Our real task in the coming period is to devise a pattern of relationships which will permit us to maintain this position of disparity…. To d so, we will have t dispense with all sentimentality and day-dreaming; and our attention will have to be concentrated everywhere on our immediate national objectives…. WE should cease to talk about vague and…unreal objectives such as human rights, the raising of the living standards, and democratization. The day is not far off when we are going to have to deal in straight power concepts. The less we are then hampered by idealistic slogan, the better.”
That’s the policy.

So should I see what I find when I look up “foewign” [sic] or “Unitred” [sic]? Let’s give “foewign” a shot.

Ahhh, the dark side of TADs. Too bad Wooten didn’t use his pulpit to raise the warning before the city saddled us all with the Beltline. Just three months after giving up millions in tax revenues to that TAD, the Atlanta Schools upped the mill rate. Plus they even admitted the percentage increase had to be higher since they had fewer parcels to collect it from because of all the TADs. For once Wooten knows about what he speaks.

Casey Sheehan…HE paid the ultimate price, HE made the ultimate sacrifice for his fellow soldiers and his country, HE IS THE REAL HERO not his star struck, media hungry mother. Hell she couldn’t bother to get her son’s grave a headstone, it took two years and the media attention before she did anything about it and then she complained and blamed the Army for not paying for it…all she had to do was ask the Veterans administration would have done it. And what about his father’s story and why doesn’t anyone in the media shine a light on Casey’s story and his incredible life. The fact of it is their stories are not as politically correct as Cindy’s is.

It is always nice to see so many good patriotic amuricans talk down about anyone who has a different opinion or outlook on situations which are going on in this country and abroad. I guess if you dont have a conservative slant on things then something is wrong with you. And this is what you people wish to spread to other countries.
