Nancy, Whitney and happy conservatives

Thinking Right´s Friday free-for-all. Pick a topic:

How could a conservative be unhappy? The two Republicans vying for leadership sound the same themes. “Republicans need to get back to our core principles and rededicate ourselves to the reform mindset that put us in the majority 12 years ago,” said Majority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio). The GOP drifted from principles, noted conservative challenger Mike Pence of Indiana. “We are in the wilderness because we walked away from limited-goverment principles that minted the Republican Congress.” Music. Pure music.

Whoa, Nancy! Pelosi is saved from her own bad judgment in endorsing and vigorously campaigning for John Murtha of Pennsylvania to be the next Majority Leader. Murtha is significant only because he´s a decorated veteran who gave cover to liberal Democrats opposing the administration in Iraq. Otherwise, he´s a pork-barreler who was caught on FBI tape a quarter-century ago. When offered $50,000 from a supposed Arab shiek looking to gain residency and seeking investment opportunities, Murtha replied, “I´m not interested…at this point.” He wasn´t charged. The caucus wisely chose Rep. Steny Hoyer of Maryland, an old Pelosi adversary.

Get used to it: The proposed commuter rail line to Lovejoy is $11 million over budget. It´s now projected to cost $120 million. And this grates, too: Taxpayers will spend $54 million to upgrade Norfolk-Southern´s rail. We´ll “own” the improvements; N-S will own the rail. Or, they own the pig, but the squeal belongs to taxpayers.

What´s the big deal about the Cobb County Commissioners agreeing to let MARTA provide roundtrip service from Atlanta to downtown Cobb — that being the Cobb Community Transit bus station near Cumberland Mall? Again, it´s not MARTA that´s the problem. It´s the MARTA-union contract and the MARTA board politics that I don´t want merged into Cobb. No problem here with the vehicles or drivers.

A country that´s serious about addressing the problem of illegals will employ any number of approaches that send the message that we don´t wink and look the other way. A proposed ordinance in Cherokee County that would fine landlords for renting to illegals is one of those. The U.S. sent a thousand messages that we welcomed illegals. Now send those that say we don´t. No mass roundups. Messages. Over time, they work.

Gutsy move by U.S. Air to acquire Delta. The hope here is that it´s unsuccessful. Coke, Delta and Rich´s were Atlanta.

I´ve been away from Atlanta for two weeks. I haven´t missed anything important in the lives of the Pandas at the Atlanta zoo, have I? Or Whitney and Bobby?

I´m going to be sick. Fox plans to give airtime to OJ to tell how he would have done it had he done it. I think the world knows the answer already.

San Francisco´s board of education votes 4-2 to get rid of Junior ROTC programs in the city´s high schools over the next two years to protest the military´s “don´t ask, don´t tell” policy. That policy violates the system´s equal rights policy for gays, school officials say. Cut ém off. Not a dime in federal money to the San Francisco school system. This is one of the problems Democrats have with Nancy Pelosi as the future Speaker of the U.S. House. San Francisco´s politics get nationalized.

Milton Friedman, the economic guru whose work shaped the thinking of Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher, and whose efforts to introduce competition will revolutionize public education, is dead. “His writings and ideas have transformed the minds of U.S. Presidents, world leaders, entrepreneurs and freshmen economic majors alike,” the Milton and Rose D. Friedman Foundation said in a statement. “Even at 94, he kept fighting to bring educational equality to all of America’s children,” work the foundation will continue.

A new guy on the Chamblee City Council wants a quote by President Bush removed from the wall at City Hall. The quote is this: “We will not waver; we will not tire; we will not falter; and we will not fail. Peace and freedom will prevail.” Here´s an idea: Let´s go through Metro Atlanta removing the names of insignificant figures, most of them politicians, from buildings, rooms, roads and bridges. And when we get done, let´s all gather at Chamblee City Hall and remove insignificant ones there.

Welcome back, Jim.

Glad you are back. Some of the “children” here ran wild while you were away. But I see you are all perky and positive so let the good times roll.

Yep, the Pandas are kissing and hugging.

Whitney & Bobby are not kissing and hugging and have lost each other and two of their mansions in the meantime.

Nancy Pelosi, now number one sweetheart of the Democrats (Hillary is second) has already made one boo-boo. Murtha is biting nails from the back row and no longer throwing kisses. But everything is going to be sweet, gracious and Pelosified.

A pox on the Chamblee City Council!! What a shame to show the whole world how to be stupid. I am going to make a wild guess that he is a liberal.

So you are going to be busy, Jim, getting all these things straightened out. But hurry! It’s fall and time to gather nuts.

Good afternoon, Jim. From my posts over the past 24 hours, everyone knows how much I admired Milton, so I’ll not persist there.

I suspect nobody really wants to hear it, but I heard one plausible, inside-baseball argument for OJ’s innocence. It has nothing to do with the evidence presented at trial, but more on the nature of the crime. At the outset I acknowledge (1) that I consciously avoided watching or reading anything about the trial so I know nothing about the evidence, and (2) that I wanted OJ to be innocent.

The whole problem with the crime is the horrific nature of the killing. Husbands angry enough to kill their wives use guns. Wives angry enough to kill husbands – much rarer – use poison. The slashing bloody murders do not fit any normal pattern of domestic violence.

On the other hand, when incredibly violent bloody things happen, there is almost always a soured, male homosexual relationship at the center of the crime. (And I don’t dislike gays, please don’t read that; every homosexual I have ever known was a thoroughly decent, kind person who threatened nobody.) I choose not to recite examples of my postulate, as I wish to not feed anti-homosexual sentiment. The target of the crime was the waiter who was with Mrs. Simpson, not Mrs. Simpson. And the killer was not Mrs. Simpson’s ex-, but the ex- of the waiter.

Or debate the issues. Americans, 86%, favor an increase in the min. wage. Raise it.

If the Republicans could get back on the old track, they would certainly best liberal Democrats. However, the neocons are just to naziistic to appeal to the average American.

I understand why Nancy wanted Murtha. He was her mentor and she wanted to do something for him as well as having somebody she could look up to in support. I have to admire a man who walked away from ABSCAM, but I’m glad Hoyer was chosen.

Why should any local school system be forced to accept ROTC? As a wife of a former recruiter, I know loss of access to schools makes recruiting quotas (oops, goals) much harder to reach. However, that is a local governmental decision. Seems only the big government proponents care what a school system decides. As for cutting off funds; the Department of Defense is totally separate from the Department of Education. The Department of Defense is not one of the main branches of government, but a mere agency on equal terms with Education. Without the enactment of federal law to force local compliance, there is no standing for Education not to provide equal funding. Personally, I don’t like seeing military uniforms in a public school environment; it reminds me of “Hitler’s Youths”.

Jim,

My problem with your suggestion regarding the San Francisco schools and supporters of enforcement of the Solomon Amendment is that it runs counter to the other argument that conservatives constantly put forth: the legislature is the closest branch to the people and is where the will of the people is most clearly reflected. If people disagree with the Council, they can vote them out and elect candidates who will reinstate JROTC, right? I don’t hear gun control advocates calling for the federal faucet to be turned off to Kennesaw for its mandatory gun ownership law or the tobacco lobby demanding New York not receive funding due to its smoking ban. Similarly, rigid enforcement of the Solomon Amendment would harm innocent students who depend on federally-subsidized financial aid. Boy, would I have been upset if my choice of college or law school was limited by the government (I depended on financial aid). If you want kids and students to be more “respectful” of JROTC and/or military recruiters, do the HARD thing politically: institute a draft, don’t cut funding.

How about a compromise? Change the Bush quote to something more appropiate. Something that says ” Now thats my W.” I suggest:

“As you can possibly see, I have an injury myself — not here at the hospital, but in combat with a cedar. I eventually won. The cedar gave me a little scratch. As a matter of fact, the Colonel asked if I needed first aid when she first saw me. I was able to avoid any major surgical operations here, but thanks for your compassion, Colonel.” —George W. Bush, after visiting with wounded veterans from the Amputee Care Center of Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas, Jan. 1, 2006

or

“There’s an old saying in Tennessee — I know it’s in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can’t get fooled again.” —President George W. Bush, Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 17, 2002

Now thats our George! Not some sissified city slicking nice sounding googley gook, thats easy to understand and half way dignified.

Well let’s see. Last night I had my fellow successful Conservative Republican friends over for a dinner party. This morning I woke up to a beautiful autumn Atlanta blue sky morning. Hmmm… there are still no liberal demoncrats in my personal life (except those that wash my cars and serve me food in restaurants), I am still successful with plenty of toys, and I still have a bright future ahead of me. Nope, after a self-assessment, my personal life still hasn’t changed since Pelosiwitch & Rats came to power.

Anyway, on with it…

Pure music indeed on the Reagan Conservative wakeup call. I wanted to see the Republicans get a scare not a slap out of power. That said, if anything, I think this motivational factor will stir the base once again. For several years I have expressed displeasure in the way Republicans have acted, and that definitely includes Bush & Co. who pandered to the left as if they were never out of power in the first place: handing over airport security to Daschle, handing over education reform to Kennedy, handing over campaign finance reform to McCain & Feingold, and a host of other “niceties” of reaching across the isle. As if the Democrites would have done that if the Republicans were in their position at the time. GAG ME. Wake the hell up Republicans, you will never be liked by your opposition, so learn how to fight like a dirty Brooklyn street punk like those bastards. A lot of people out there are sick of you guys being pushovers. Yeah that especially means you Hatch. The downside to this is we may have a liberal bench-warmer for a Supreme Justice, and John Bolton, the man with a backbone to tell the UN to go fluck themselves sideways with their corruption and anti-Americanism and anti-Semitism, may be replaced with some pansieassed spineless liberal yes-puppet.

Heh. “The Running Man II” Murtha got the jackboot from his own party. Gee, I wonder why that is? Could it have anything to do with his potential fraudulent shenanigans that cost several Democrites their jobs 25 years ago? Uh-huh… they are walking on eggshells because they know all the attention has been on Republican scandals over the past four years (while ignoring that highly suspect shady Sin City land deal of Reid, Sandypants Burglar’s stealing classified intel documents relating to 9/11 from the National Archives which were NEVER recovered, etc. etc. etc.). Well, look who’s in the limelight now.

Commuter rail line to Lovejoy: just another feel-good policy for politicians to use taxpayer dollars and make it appear they are doing all they can to alleviate Atlanta’s traffic problems. As if Atlantans want to give up their independence of car ownership (and their suburban houses where rail lines don’t go); as if Atlantans would pay the proposed $3-$6 one way fare (yeah.. ONE WAY). This is the life the Al Sores of the sickness of liberalism want us to live like: cramped cities with no cars, just public transportation, and equal sized housing for all… no rich, no poor, everyone has the same amount of “stuff,” and everyone is equal economically. Ah yes, the liberal socialist demoncratic wet dream Utopia.

Illegal immigration? Face it: neither party has the guts to really deal with the problem. The Republicans propose building a wall, and the Democrites laugh. The Democrites propose… uh, well, hmmm… they haven’t proposed a damn thing. The bottom line is that Mexicans are already calling those who are against illegal immigration “racists.” Politicians won’t touch that potato with a ten foot poker.

According to the race whores, OJ is “innocent” of murder because he was found innocent of murder among his peers. Try to argue with one of those race quacks on this matter and they’ll scream at you like a broken record: “He was found innocent by his peers. That means he’s innocent.” Of course, no it doesn’t, but you can’t reason with race whores who’s sole purpose in life is to stoke the race fire (and the AJC has some writers amongst them that keep the embers glowing hot… WHAT? No black representation at the CMA Awards??? How DARE they.).

Everyone who cares about the military knows the hatred that San Freaksicko has for our military. Earlier this year in a radio interview a politician on the Sicko city council said that we need to get rid of the entire US military and let the police and firefighters take care of the security of this nation as well as the UN. No, you can’t make this crap up. This is the same Sick City that turned away an aircraft carrier that returned from Iraq support missions for exhibition purposes. This is the same city where teachers in schools have told their students that military airshows are shows for and by murderers and to never attend them (actually some horseass liberal hog on this blog [hey, that rhymes… hmmm…] said something similar about Delta pilots recently). What I find funny more than anything though is that prior to Election 2000, the Jackal Party Democrites didn’t give a rat’s @ss about the military or whether one served in it, and now suddenly to them as well as jackal beady-eyed libokooks on this blog it seems important. In any event, if memory serves me correctly, “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” was Clinton’s idea. Why didn’t those Sicko gutter RATs pitch a fit over that when Clintoon was in orfice? Yank the federal funds out from under those anti-American jackals.

If any names and phrases need to be removed from Atlanta, the McKinneyrats should be the first to go. Bother are an embarrassment to this city and state like the old flag was… and both come from the same timeframe mindset.

And now, my second Saturday contribution for the day:

Here’s To The Individual, Not The “Group.”

·Here’s to the individual who makes things happen, not the group who wishes things happened to them.

·Here’s to the individual who pays the taxes, not the group who benefits from them.

·Here’s to the individual that elects to better him or herself and rise above the status quo of the group.

·Here’s to the individual who perseveres under an ever-increasing tax burden on that benefits the group.

·Here’s to the individual who gives up the $30,000 Maxima, PS3, and other gottahavits and instead elects to pay $100-$300/mo. for healthcare coverage instead of expecting the group to pay for it while enjoying those gottahavits.

·Here’s to the individual who takes care of his or her own health and doesn’t have to rely on the government warning about smoking, obesity, and other health killers, and then blaming corporations when it goes bad.

·Here’s to the individual who has a Roth IRA and other personal investment accounts for retirement, and not relying on the mandatory paycheck-reducing federal social security system as the group does.

·Here’s to the individual who got laid off and chose to get out there and find another job instead of going on unemployment that the group pays for.

·Here’s to the individual who reads beyond the headlines of today’s newspapers, gathers more information than what CNN chooses to give, and makes his or her own decision on what to think instead of following the group.

·Here’s to the individual who saves for and elects to send his or her child to a private school system that the group is jealous of.

·Here’s to the individual who’s not afraid to say “Merry Christmas” and worrying about offending the group.

·Here’s to the individual who declares war on poverty by contributing donations to worthwhile causes instead of the group forcing others to do it through government policy.

I’ve got $1,000 that says the liberal neomarxist demoncrats like Pelosi are looking at all the madness surrounding the PS3 release and obscene profit-making on eBay and figuring out a way to tax the hell out of their spoils. After all, it’s not fair that the average “working Joe” (as if an accountant or corporate executive doesn’t work or something) can’t cough up $600 and turn it into a quick $5,000. If the RATs get in charge long term, we WILL have an internet tax. These jackals would tax a toilet flush if they could figure out a way.

Plan W: We will not fail. We will prevail. Didn’t Underdog say that in episode 37? Sounds like someone bought the boxed set.

Democrats new slogan is no longer cut and run. It’s Devil take the Hindmost. W to Pelosi: Go ahead, make my day, blink. Pelois to W: How I learned to stop worrying and love Islam.

Either we respect Islam’s sanctuaries or we dont. Shakespeare was quite clear on this. At Agincourte, the British hanged sanctuary violators.

Possible bit here: One day inside Notre Dame cathedral: “How’d you get a lead on the sanctuary violator, Frank? Well, Bob, I played a hunch, a lucky guess, sometimes a hunch pays off, sometimes it doesn’t, I was just lucky, I played a hunch.” (actual conversation occurred in 934(ad), or (o)c=B on the Neanderthal Calender.

The neanderthals had Year of the Rat type names for the zodiac birth cycle. There was the coveted Year of the Bath. I think the least desirable was Year of the Cheek. (They kept pinching each other. It was sad).

Plan W: The Droppings of a Malaprop

W proclaimed a crusade to Al Jezeera, (Yiddish Language Al Jezeera, (copyright2003).

There’s no record of W ever having been one of the Children’s Crusaders.

The communiques from those island-stranded Japanese Soldiers (they still keep finding) are more reliable than one bit of data from Bush about the reality on the ground in Iraq. The poor sod they found today was still waiting for his turn with the captured geisha. They had to pry his fingers loose from the……nevermind.

I demand the surrender of Osama Bin Laden. I demand that we take immediate and permanent steps to convince Islam that we respect and revere Islam, (as much as we revere our own spin…or we’re finished).

No two men agree on theology, The nuances are to die for). It’s our soul’s fingerprint.

Possible bit here: Show two guys who have agreed on everything in the bible, the koran, saddam’s war powers act, and they’re down to the last sentence in OJ’s book, when they finally come to a disagreement and both pull pins on hidden grenades strapped in clever locations on their bodies.

At our core is our self-congratulation about our presumed effect upon god of our own life, prayers, and death. St. Pete to you: make my Year of the Wing. (They kept fluffing each other….it was sad).

At least in GA they don’t obsessively grovel to white pond scum - the KKK king of snouts in the trough tax payer pork a.k.a. the vile senile corrupt n. word abusing hateful narcissistic DNC Wizard D Byrd in naming roads, bridges, court houses, public toilets (where rednekkks does most of its business), W.V. high skools and kolleges etc.

Maddox was clearly not a very nice racist maggot, like almost all older southern demoNcrats but Zell is still one of the few true intellectually honest demoNcrat visionaries in America. Ex- congressman Ben Jones is another quite acceptable demoNcrat. Sadly there are almost no other decent honourable demoNcrats alive or dead in GA.

Sadly in and around Atlanta the demoncrats have obsessively and disproportionately grovelled to blacks, especially when naming roads and other public structures. Honouring the plagiarist and serial adulterer MLK is reasonable enough - but most of the other meaningless black spoils renaming gestures are just repugant racial pandering.

Why not, just to balance things out rather more honestly in say Fulton (but not the future Milton), Clayton and Dekalb Counties have a Drive By Boulevard, a CarJack Avenue, a Crack House Street, a Cripps and Bloods Parkway or a J. Jim,

Why are the conservatives just now discovering, “’Republicans need to get back to our core principles and rededicate ourselves to the reform mindset that put us in the majority 12 years ago.’” The electorate could have told them that years ago, as the recent election demonstrates rather emphatically. If the conservatives do not soon determine who they are and what they have to offer the electorate, they can expect the same results, or worse, in 2008. You term this belated discovery “music.” Sounds much like a gasp to me, a gasp of belated discovery and agony. It is no wonder that the electorate has become so disaffected with so-called conservatives. They’ve been feeding off the pork barrel so long that their eyes are glazed over. I’m not convinced that the slight bump in the road they encountered on November 7 was sufficent to jar the scales from their eyes.

You claim, “The U.S. sent a thousand messages that we welcomed illegal immigrants.” How true, how true. Only now have the conservatives discovered that the welcome mats they put out have fallen into disfavor by their electorate. Sounds like the conservatives are running hard just to catch up with the electorate. I find the whole debacle amusing. Welcome, welcome, neighbor — go away! go away! The conservatives have much work to do just to find out what it is they really stand for. They have become drunk with power. They’ve been giving the same mixed message to the electorate for Lo! These many years! and the electorate voiced their dissatisfaction with the obfuscation in the last election.

Jim, having a quotation from George W. Bush about peace and freedom on a public building is rather like having a quotation from Larry, Moe, and Curly about dramatic interpretation inscribed on the doors of the theater.

On the other hand, if Madame Speaker doesn’t rally her troops into a united front soon, the red tide will sweep them out to sea. Electorate dissatisfaction? You haven’t seen anything remotely resembling what we shall see in ‘08 since ‘68.

It’s a desk that I can put in the classroom I teach, the sides of it extend back and you can close a little door behind you.

This way I can take off my pants and no one will ever know.

Now all I need to do is move little Bobby from the back of the classroom to front and center, if you know what I mean.

Thirteen percent of the US Senate is now Pro Israel Jewish, and a similar number in the House. FYI, the jewish population of America is less than 2 percent. So Israel is over represented by a factor of six. Muslims are 4 percent of the population, and only one member of congress is muslim.

The pro israel lobby doesn’t use force where they can out smart and work behind the scenes. They do use force of law in keeping secret the amounts of money and weapons transfered to israel per year, and preventing muslim americans from contributing money and knowledge to Arab countrie. Several investigative report’s careers have been ended because they published reports showing approximately how many hundreds of billions of american tax dollars have gone to israel, much of it under the table. One of the best scams reported on was the granting of large loans to israel by the us govt, loans that were quietly forgiven several years later by riders on unrelated bills. The lobby and the co-conspriators destroyed the career’s of the reporters involved, and hide much deeper the money trail.

The apostles knew better than to violate sanctuary. The commercial facade of the temple so angered Christ that he actually used a whip during his sit-in protest thingie.

I always pictured Mary Magedelan as Anna Nicole Smith at the oscars. I’d have let her wash my feet too. If you know what I mean. I mean think what a slut she had to be, to play Monica Lewinski for a bunch of old jews…..you’d probably have to first get her drunk, and then off to the side in the shadows….you could do it….it was possible………but the apostles must have lived in fear of the next time they happened upon a whip anyhwere near that confounded Temple…..

was judas delivering a restraining order to christ and the soldiers just happened to be there? We’ll never know but i like it. I think so.

You wonder how good Superman would be with a whip. Then you wonder how good Christ would be with a whip. It certainly seemed to keep the apostles at bay after that.

I wonder how close the whip was when they fell asleep during the Agony in the Garden. Wouldn’t want to be those sleeping dogs, or were they sitting ducks? I figure I’d go for the face first, then Id start ripping. That’s the way I figure it near enough, paw.

Markus and Akbar, et al.

Actually it was in 711 that Moorish general Tariq ibn-Ziyad conquered Al-Andalus and set up Moorish rule in the Iberian peninsula. The culture of Moorish Spain was the epitome of civilization in medieval Europe, which was not reconquered by the Christians until 1492.

“During the time of Islamic rule, Córdoba was the largest city and arguably embodied the most sophisticated culture and the most developed bureaucracy in Europe.” “During this time large populations of Jews, Christians and Muslims lived in close quarters, and at its peak some non-Muslims were appointed to high offices under the some of the more lenient Muslim rulers. At its best it produced exquisite architecture and art, and Muslim and Jewish scholars played a major part in reviving the tradition of classical Greek philosophy, mathematics and science in western Europe, whilst making their own contributions to it.” Moorish Spain was certainly far above the semi-barbaric state of Charlemagne (742-814).

All of this from the Wikipedia entries on Spain, Andalucia, Moors, Charlemagne, and Cordoba.

Jim:

You have only to watch Nancy Pelosi’s justification for supporting Murtha. She did it because he, like her, advocates the immediate withdrawal from Iraq. Yet, the American people have repeatedly said that would not be a wise decision. I guess that bright red suit she wore was her way of saying she’s all about working together. Me? I saw it as a “red flag”. The bull is loose. Watch out Nancy…

The O.J. confession? Maybe that was his way of saying thank you to all those people who supported his innocence. The man is a narcissist. No remorse for murdering his children’s mother or Ron Goldberg. And now…no remorse for making his supporters look like idiots. The media should hand down the death sentence to O.J.. “No coverage.”

Luckovich offered up a good cartoon on the topic. What kind of message does this send to our children?

He’s fat too. It puts me in mind of the “Hamburglar”. Make that a juice and a whopper to go.

Renting to illegals? I thought that was already tried and failed in one county. Something about law enforcement overstepping the boundaries. Forced entry to determine citizenship. The one that really got me was how a real estate agent isn’t required to inform a prospective buyer that the house they’re selling had been a meth lab.

Now that one is a real killer, don’t you think?

And yes Jim, the fog over Frisco is rolling out to sea. Revealing the absurdity that supports Pelosi speak.

The Chamblee City Council? They’re the thought police now? Yessiree…the liberal writing is on the wall.

Jim,

Why are the conservatives just now discovering that, “’[We] Republicans need to get back to our core principles and rededicate ourselves to the reform mindset that put us in the majority 12 years ago.’” The electorate could have told them that years ago, as the recent election demonstrates rather emphatically. If the conservatives do not soon determine who they are and what they have to offer the electorate, they can expect the same results, or worse, in 2008. You term this belated discovery “music.” Sounds much like a cry to me, a cry of agony. It is no wonder that the electorate has become so disaffected with so-called conservatives. They’ve been feeding off the pork barrel so long that their eyes are glazed over. I’m not convinced that the slight bump in the road they encountered on November 7 was sufficient to jar the scales from their eyes.

You claim, “The U.S. sent a thousand messages that we welcomed illegal immigrants.” How true, how true. Only now have the conservatives discovered that the welcome mats they put out, rather than raising the minimum wage, have fallen into disfavor with their electorate. Sounds like the conservatives are running hard just to catch up with the electorate. I find the whole debacle amusing. “Welcome, welcome, neighbor — go away! go away!” The conservatives have much work to do just to find out what it is they really stand for. They have become drunk with power. They’ve been giving the same mixed message to the electorate for Lo! These many years! and the electorate voiced their dissatisfaction with that obfuscation in the last election.

On the O.J. fiasco. It makes me sick that there will be enough willing to call it “entertainment” to make it worth the time to publish.

Jim, having a quotation from George W. Bush about peace and freedom on a public building is rather like having a quotation from Larry, Moe, and Curly about the ethos of tragedy inscribed on the doors of the theater.

On the other hand, if Madame Speaker doesn’t rally her troops into a united front soon, the red tide will sweep them out to sea.

Electorate dissatisfaction? You haven’t seen anything remotely resembling what we shall see in ‘08 since ‘68, but you are probably too young to remember that turmoil.

The four stages of life:

Inter-Continental Ballistic Missile

Decay Preventive Dentifrice

Incontinental Ballistic Projectile

Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo

Notice how closely in verbal syntax the Pledge of Allegience is to the crest Toothpaste slogan? “Crest has been shown to be an effective decay preventive dentifrice when used in a contientiously applied program of oral hygiene and regular professional care.”

Coincidence? Or did they steal from the intonations we make when we recite the pledge of allegience, the dirty rats.

Spot the grammatical error? Decay preventive dentifrice: Preventing communicates better here- a decay preventing dentifrice. This was the zenith of sophisticated jingle writing in the 50s and 60s….and is still the summit of man’s knowledge about gum disease and the Pledge of Allegience. (thank you, sir, can i have another)

Have U Hugged a Mullah today?

Hug a Mullah!

When mullahs have a phrase that is self contradictory they call it a oxymullah. The only word W will accept as not an oxymoron is disenfranchized mullah, and thats not a nice thing to do to an already nice mullah. We want to do nice things to the nice mullahs so W needs 2GO!

A wartime economic expansion is a brutal expansion. A peacetime economic expansion requires expanded diplomacy. Yes, you can still drive humvees but take your mullah to lunch, a mullah maybe somebody’s mother. She was a mullah, my mudder. (abbott and costello, if 911 was Pearl Harbor…..doh!)

Diogenes,

Those “intelligent” remarks that Cynthia Tucker made lack a certain, shall we say “practicality” to them.

Who IS going to pluck those chickens and do the other jobs no one wants?

The best solution that I’ve heard is for the Feds to contract with private employment agencies. The agencies would be responsible for vetting workers who would be let in on an as needed basis by employers.

Jobs would first have to be offered in the open market to Americans. When jobs are unfilled the agencies could then go to temporary workers.

We would have the workers we need and we would know who and where they are at the same time.

Of course any proposals of this sort would immediately be met with Democrats demanding that these private agencies be made in to government entities and temporary workers would be given all sorts of “rights” to bennies that should be reserved for American citizens.

It time to put up or STFU.

McCain’s son enlisted and Rangel will reintroduce the draft:

(Rangel) said having a draft would not necessarily mean everyone called to duty would have to serve. Instead, “young people (would) commit themselves to a couple of years in service to this great republic, whether it’s our seaports, our airports, in schools, in hospitals,” with a promise of educational benefits at the end of service.

Getlife,

This^^sounds like he wants to reinstate slavery to me - albeit on a temporary basis. Most of the things he is talking about are privately run businesses.

And who will be left to flip burgers at McDonalds? Can we say bye-bye to the need for a minimum wage?

Great way to keep the economy booming too. At a time of near full-employment, you take a huge percentage of workers out of the workforce and make them work for free.

Where are they going to get the tax revenue to fund the military? Who pays for this slave labor?

This kind of idiotic and unsupportable suggestion is exactly why it’s dangerous when Socialist Democrats are in the majority.

Ok, so if Rangel wants to re-instate the draft (it would never pass in Congress), I say the Republicans accept with one stipulation:

The able-bodied individuals living off welfare and food stamps be forced into four years of community service and ship them all to the Gulf Coast and New Orleans to help rebuild the areas.

If Mr. Rangel wants to mouth off about the “rich” not fighting wars, then the Republicans need to mouth off about the poor not getting off their @sses.

Sounds fair to me.

I don’t recall saying anything about Cynthia Tucker’s column so I’m not sure what point it is of mine that you claim to see.

Now that I’ve read it, it’s nothing more than confused liberal drivel. She wants all the “undocumented workers” to be given all rights of citizenship, but oh by the way make sure they can’t possibly get a job. Then she goes on to say that not letting them work will wreck our economy.

Bottom line is they are ILLEGAL ALIENS and need to take the proper steps to enter this country legally. Her silly idea of solving the problem by checking for code violations won’t work because all eight families living in a three bedroom house tend to keep the outside looking pretty good. Do you think she wants to allow random bed checks?

Instead of cursing your opposition like a blathering, slobbering idiot, why not provide a substantial argument?

Since you are incapable of doing so, let me provide one for you:

The conflict in the middle east is between muslims and jews. The US government’s involvement in (specifically) Iraq is due directly to the reprehensible (and borderline treasonous) influence of foreign interests (e.g. AIPAC, PNAC) upon it.

In case you still aren’t convinced or don’t get it, perhaps we should have a wide-open public debate on israeli and jewish bullsh*t which serves its interests at the expense of American blood and treasure. What say you? Rate it:

That Rozen article basically just says we should pick a Shia militia to back and wipe out the Sunnis, but presumably our Shia militia will then have to fight the other Shia militias. I didn’t really see much value to that article either.

The link I gave you at 5:00 will take you straight to the article, no signing in. I quoted one sentence above that I thought significant. Here’s her thesis sentence, “AS SECTARIAN violence rises in Iraq and the White House comes under increasing pressure to revamp its strategy there, a debate is emerging inside the Bush administration: Should the U.S. abandon its efforts to act as a neutral referee in the ongoing civil war and, instead, throw its lot in with the Shiites?”

Your comment, “He [Jim] has a position that won’t work very well, but what is he supposed to “defend”?

Cut-n-Ran -

“Maybe that’s what they want?”

In order to defeat the enemy, you have to learn how to think like the enemy. See, these people think that they can just tax the hell out of corporations (no mention about the profit margins of banks compared to those of oil companies, but anyway…) and that minority of 10% of the “rich” in this nation to pay for all of their neostalinist socialist causes.

What these socialist liberal mindless midgets fail to understand is that it all rolls down hill, and that definitely includes taxation policy… for better or for worse. That’s what happens when you let your emotions overload your @ss, as liberalism always does.

Buy Danish,

I lack secondary verification on whether or not this is a serious proposal. If it is, then Pope George II is taking this Crusade in a direction which will please neither the “cut and run crowd” or the “victory is possible group.” To me the most ominous portion was the final statement which I quoted above, “it would be a decision taken in the dark, outside the realm of public debate.”

What is your freaking point? Let’s say hypothetically that you had read RWs position on Cherokee County’s illegal immigration law (which you didn’t) and he had taken a position that disagreed with it - now what?

Are you suggesting that that is the only possible solution?

By RW-(the original)

November 19, 2006 06:10 PM | Link to this

Diogenes,

I’ll give you that part about us not seriously tackling the issue from either political perspective. The Cherokee County plan is an attempt to take it seriously.

As for the sentence you find so ominous from your other article, you can’t fight a war with every detail and strategy held up for advance public discussion. I think the idea Rozen outlines is foolish and hopefully it isn’t under any serious discussion, but no matter what field level strategy we take, it can’t be placed in front of a focus group first.

The executive branch is Constitutionally tasked with war fighting and with good reason. All we need is Jay Rockefeller (D-WVA) calling in all our battle plans to the enemy in advance, like he did for the war itself.
