But yet everyday the Doom and Gloom still goes to press, regardless of the trees being ripped from the Earth for the paper, the diesel fuel being burned to transport that paper, the vast amount of electricity required to print this crying rag and house an entire building full of whining pinko “reporters,” the gasoline wasted and smog produced to deliver this left wing propaganda to your doorstep and the overcrowded landfill space heaping with paper waste.
So do the libs lead by example or do they blame you for their fake problems?
If it bothers you so damn much, Urinal, then why not close up shop, stop wasting all of this energy and producing the pollution that you do, put your money where your mealy little mouth is.
~~~~~
If there are any doubts about who is obstructing the energy industry and keeping the prices high, look no further than the Gloom and Doom:
{{{{Environmentalists nationwide are celebrating Monday’s Fulton County Superior Court decision they say will make it harder —- if not impossible —- to build new coal plants.-Urinal}}}}
Now they can MoveOn to obstructing nuclear energy, drilling for oil, gasoline refineries.
What you pay at the gas pump is self inflicted and the easiest way to ease the pain: Boot the liberals out of government.
{{{{Are Obamaland followers hostile to oil? Do they hate SUVs? Do they think you have no right to heat or cool your own home beyond what they consider politically correct? Do they think you should pay $5 — or $6 or $7 or $8 or more — for gas at the pump to ensure you conform to the Obamaland world-view? Yes, they do think all of this and their Obamaland answer is inevitable. They will “use the political process” to stop drilling off shore in its tracks. So too with stopping the use of oil shale or ANWR or anything else that even hints at allowing average Americans their basic freedom to drive whatever vehicle wherever they damn well please whenever they damn well please. In Obamaland it is not only perfectly acceptable, it is gospel from the secular bible that they must use the political process to stop refineries from being built, to keep nuclear power plants from being built, to keep coal from being burned. Use the political process to forcibly mandate the temperature inside every single American home. As a matter of fact, why not just go all the way and nationalize the oil companies —
~~~~~
If socialism is a “utopia” where all citizens work towards the common good of the government, how can government lay them off and where will they send them to if private industry has been forbidden?
{{{{ATLANTA BUDGET: Fire Rescue cutbacks will hurt city-Urinal/DNC}}}}

CAN YOU IMAGINE WHAT WENT ON IN DUH’S HEAD WHEN HE SAW THIS TOON?
I MEAN, HE BELIEVES GLOBAL WARMING IS A HOAX AND SANTA CLAUS IS REAL!
Reporters for Dow Jones and the Wall Street Journal write that an “intense private battle” has broken out between officials at the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the Environmental Protection Agency over “the publication of a document that could become the legal roadmap for regulation of greenhouse gas emissions across the U.S. economy.” A copy of this 150-page document obtained by the Wonk Room reveals why the White House has been suppressing it since December of last year…….Even after major cuts from the December version, this document makes a mockery of President Bush’s claim in April that applying the Clean Air Act to global warming pollution “would have crippling effects on our entire economy.” In fact, after spending all of 2007 working with the Departments of Transportation and Energy to model the effects of motor vehicle greenhouse gas regulations, the EPA found the exact opposite:…..

Clark won’t back down………………… There are many important issues in this Presidential election, clearly one of the most important issues is national security and keeping the American people safe. In my opinion, protecting the American people is the most important duty of our next President. I have made comments in the past about John McCain’s service and I want to reiterate them in order be crystal clear. As I have said before I honor John McCain’s service as a prisoner of war and a Vietnam Veteran. He was a hero to me and to hundreds of thousands and millions of others in Armed Forces as a prisoner of war. I would never dishonor the service of someone who chose to wear the uniform for our nation. John McCain is running his campaign on his experience and how his experience would benefit him and our nation as President. That experience shows courage and commitment to our country - but it doesn’t include executive experience wrestling with national policy or go-to-war decisions. And in this area his judgment has been flawed - he not only supported going into a war we didn’t have to fight in Iraq, but has time and again undervalued other, non-military elements of national power that must be used effectively to protect America But as an American and former military officer I will not back down if I believe someone doesn’t have sound judgment when it comes to our nation’s most critical issues.
AND
The McCain camp, sensing an opportunity, complained that Clark had “attacked John McCain’s military service record.” Of course, Clark had done nothing of the kind. He had questioned the relevance of McCain’s combat experience as a qualification to be president of the United States. This is a distinction that you’d expect any reasonably intelligent nine-year old to be able to grasp.
OF COURSE ALL THE REASONABLY INTELLIGENT MEMBERS OF THE GOP HAVE ALREADY ABANDONED THE PARTY!

Read My Pet Goat or any other children’s book while U.S. military forces await orders from their Commander-in-Chief that can save innocent American lives …………..II. Use the terra test as an excuse to try to bail out his best campaign donor, someone like Ken Lay of Enron, with a huge infusion of taxpayer money ……………..III. Invade the wrong friggin’ country using made up evidence so that he can plunder its natural resources. ………………..IV. Make it even EASIER for the Terra-ists to Attack us again by making More of Them ……………..V. Build a Great Big Government Welfare Pig Trough and invite all his friends to feed at it under guise of helping the War Effort ……………VI. Cripple our intelligence agency and its ability to spy on our enemies by outing covert agents and by attacking them in the press …………….VII. Break the law in every way possible, calling the Constitution just a piece of paper, while proclaiming that Article II of the Constitution gives him the right to do so. ………………..VIII. Call the Deaths of over 3000 innocent Americans in the World Trade Center Attacks a “Trifecta” ……………….IX. Sell souvenir photos of himself associated with the terra attack in an effort to raise campaign funds ………………….X. Tell anyone or have a surrogate tell anyone or even think that another terra attack on U.S. soil would really make his job a lot easier.

It’s curious that in all the bloviating (so far) about this cartoon, no one has yet pointed out that there are no penguins at the North Pole! Penguins are confined entirely to the Southern Hemisphere, with one species living as far north as the Galapagos.
However valid the point about global warming - and the evidence is pretty good - Luckovich doesn’t do much for his credibility by making such an obvious mistake of natural history.

Rupert Murdoch’s black sheepToday, even oil tycoons and financial corporations are working to address climate change, but the Wall Street Journal still denies that the problem exists……..Denialists spoon feed content to the Journal’s editorial pages regularly, and it’s a safe bet the Journal will lend plenty of its column inches to attendees of the denialist conference, despite the intellectually dishonest and suspect nature of the entire enterprise……….Most immediately, this poses a challenge to the NewsCorp brand, which is now defined in part by its commitment to becoming a carbon neutral company by 2010. Murdoch himself has said: “Climate change poses clear catastrophic threats.” The Journal likes to call people who voice such opinions “global warmists” and “alarmists”. None of its editorial writers has yet been imprudent enough to slap the label on Father Murdoch, and so far he has been tolerant of the wayward behaviour of his most recently adopted children………Let’s hope it isn’t too much longer before Murdoch’s patience wears thin. His fiduciary duty to NewsCorp shareholders will require it. Gigot-ism is out of step with history and in financial terms creates fiduciary exposure to maximum risk and loss. The rest of the civilised world is progressing toward solutions to global warming and after the next elections even the United States is certain to join the effort. Continued adherence to denialism - and all the intellectual dishonesty that it implies - will undermine the Journal’s profitability……The business world is in almost universal movement to address global warming, the biggest market failure of all time. You’d think Gigot and his crew would offer sage advice on how to navigate through this changing epoch. Instead they say in essence, “No, no, nothing needs to be done. The market will solve everything,” and lend succour to those who aim to retard progress with pseudo-science and misinformation disguised as constructive free speech.

I’m glad I don’t have to go to the airport today. I hear there’s going to be a gun-slinging show down.
I go to the airport all the time - I’ve never been mugged or felt my life was in danger by anyone - well, except that security guard that one time.
I really just do not understand these gun-toting guys. To live your life constantly in fear that someone is going to jump out and try to bring you harm. Tsk, tsk, tsk.
And my other complaint in all this, is WHY ANNOUNCE TO THE WORLD THAT YOU HAVE A GUN? Doesn’t that defeat the purpose? Hmmmm….this guy seems like a complete idiot to me, but hey, it’s not like I’m going to tell him that now!
I hope that if something does go down at the airport, they arrest him and take him to Guantanamo Bay.

Obama 08: America takes over.
And that’s not true about penguins. Penquins are everywhere, they’re like termites or something. True, they started out in S. Pole, but they immigrated to the four points of the compass. I even have a penguin in my refrigerator. Maybe if you Repudlickans believed in gravity, you’d be more down to earth when it comes to the penguin overpopulation immigration problem. But go ‘head, vote for McCain, who in all probability is a penguin himself. or a penguin lover, which is worse.

The Nation ran a famous series then called “These United States,” in which smug emissaries from East Coast cities chronicled the “backward” attitudes of what today would be called fly-over country. One correspondent proclaimed that in “backwoods” New York (i.e. outside the Big Apple): “Resistance to change is their most sacred principle.” If that was their attitude to New York, it shouldn’t surprise that they felt even worse about the South. One author explained that Dixie needed nothing less than an invasion of liberal “missionaries” so that the “light of civilization” might finally be glimpsed down there. These authors simply assumed, writes intellectual historian Christopher Lasch, that ” ‘breaking with the past’ was the precondition of cultural and political advance.” Even today, writes Time’s Joe Klein, “This is a chronic disease among Democrats, who tend to talk more about what’s wrong with America than what’s right.”
I’ll go with “otherworldly”.
Star Wars creator George Lucas recently proclaimed that it’s “reasonably obvious” Obama is a Jedi Knight.
Mark Morford, a particularly loopy San Francisco Chronicle columnist, says Obama isn’t really “one of us.” Rather he’s a “Lightworker”, the sort of being who can help us find “a new way of being on the planet.”
Self-help guru Deepak Chopra insists that an Obama victory would bring about “a quantum leap in American consciousness.”
Chris Matthews has be entranced by Obama’s Jedi mind tricks. Obamania, he says, is “bigger than Kennedy….This is the New Testament.”

[On the faith-based initiative, Obama’s way isn’t Bush’s way….The notion of the government contracting with religious ministries to provide social services is not, on its face, scandalous or unconstitutional. Groups like Catholic Charities and Lutheran Social Services have partnered with public officials for decades, almost always without incident. There have always been safeguards in place to protect church-state separation, the integrity of the ministry, and the rights of those who receive the benefits. The safeguards were just common sense, and helped make these partnerships legal. Independent religious agencies, not churches themselves, handled the public funds. Tax dollars supported only secular programs, and no religious discrimination with public funds was permitted. So what happened? George W. Bush decided he wanted to re-write the rules. His White House identified those safeguards and renamed them “barriers.”…..when I saw this AP feed this morning, I nearly fell out of my chair.
Reaching out to evangelical voters, Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is announcing plans that would expand President Bush’s program steering federal social service dollars to religious groups and — in a move sure to cause controversy — support their ability to hire and fire based on faith….. Thankfully, this AP feed was wrong, it’s being corrected, and Barack Obama has not completely lost his mind….. I obtained a copy of the speech Obama is going to deliver today, and he specifically outlines a faith-based agenda that in no way resembles Bush’s approach. In fact, it’s largely the opposite…..The AP article had it backwards. Obama has identified the pre-Bush safeguards and strengthens them, not abandons them. ….. By all appearances, Obama’s vision is consistent with what Bush’s plan would have been, if Bush cared about constitutional law, the interests of taxpayers, the rights of families in need, and the integrity of religious institutions.](http://www.thecarpetbaggerreport.com/archives/16056.html#more-16056)

Five years as a POW on the receiving end of the torture, beatings, starvation, solitary confinement, and the other physical and psychological abuse John McCain withstood, is five years of combat, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. His captors had the guns; he was unarmed. His captors had the ropes and truncheons to beat him with.His captors controlled his freedom, communication, food, water.

SPECIALLY FOR “Ben Nelms”
Are McCain’s handlers playing the wrong card?…..John McCain is being hailed by the press as a “genuine war hero.” But is he a war hero in the conventional sense like Audie Murphy and John Glenn? Or is his “war hero” status the creation of a very slick publicity campaign that plays on flag, duty, honor and country?….Accounts by McCain and other writers tell of the horror he endured: relentlessly beatings, torture, broken limbs. All inflicted during savage interrogations. Yet no other POW was a witness to these accounts. A former POW says “No man witnessed another man during interrogations… We relied on each other to tell the truth when a man was returned to his cell.” The U.S. Navy says two eyewitnesses are required for any award of heroism. But for the valor awards McCain received, there are no eyewitnesses, less himself and his captors. And they’re not talking….McCain certainly doesn’t appear to be a war hero by conventional standards, but rather a tough survivor whose handlers are overplaying the war hero card.

Murphy Fine Arts Center in Baltimore — dispute the allegations of cookie-throwing, and accounts of the purported incident offered at different times by Ehrlich, Steele, and Paul S. Schurick, Ehrlich’s communications director, contradict each other. Moreover, the Sun noted that initial news accounts of the debate made no mention of Oreo cookies at all. (((Project 21’s Kevin Martin was present at that debate and an eyewitness. We asked him to tell us what he saw. The following is his full response, unedited:
I was present at the Morgan State University Maryland gubernatorial debate in 2002 where Oreo cookies were present and used as a means of ridiculing then-candidate for lieutenant governor Michael Steele.
When I walked towards the auditorium where the debate was held, I saw a young girl approaching me holding some Oreo cookies. She attempted to hand me some. When I asked her what they were, she cheerfully replied, “they’re Michael Steele cookies.”
I did see an Oreo cookie fly through the air in the direction of Mr. Steele during the event, but I did not see it hit him. The cookies were just part of a wide-ranging intimidation campaign employed against him and Republican gubernatorial candidate Robert Ehrlich that night which included booing, insults directed at the candidates’ families and vandalism of their supporters’ cars. While the thrown Oreo cookies may not have been “thick in the air like locusts” as Paul Schurick, spokesman for Governor Robert Ehrlich, has said, I feel compelled to ask those who are trying to downplay the events just how many Oreo cookies would constitute being offensive?
Good question! ITN….Midori….anyone?
The term Oreo and the symbolism of the cookie is meant to imply that a black person is really wants to be Caucasian and otherwise ashamed of his or her race. The mere mention of them is insult enough. It is outrageous that Michael Steele’s political opponents are trying to deflect their improper behavior by implying the event never happened. It did. MAKE IT SAFE: While you’re drilling in the sea, be sure to make it safe ‘cause your little THUGS and THUGLETTS will need the environment in years to come. Don’t sound off to me! No little Poopie-Dos to leave behind (Thank you Lord).
ATTACK! If we need to attack for OIL, go for it! We NEED THE OIL, or the economy will collapse. Yep, just don’t lie about it! We gotta have the oil.
FAITH BASED INITIATIVES: Who needs DEFACS? We all know the local Happy Clappy Churches will always take care of their own. Golly gee! What kid needs more than a nice Thanksgiving meal? The other 364, he/she’s on her own. We all know if the parents weren’t sorry, they’d be where @@, Dusty, whoever that person called Andy, RB and others are in the scheme of things. You sorry little kiddies!!!! You shoulda chosen your parents more wisely.
BUILD MORE PRISONS: We all know life begins at conception, and ends at birth. Gotta be some way to contain those little criminals. We can’t have ‘em on the streets competing for jobs, health care etc.
DRAFT: I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. We can’t go into WWIII without the DRAFT. That means all. Thugs and Thugletts under 40 years old must go, health permitting. A family? One parent must go. Military families do this all the time. Get off your butts and prove your loyalty to your country.

I would never condone or remain silent after hearing of or seeing oreo cookies being lobbed, tossed, rolled or handed out during a Barack Obama appearance.
I often find myself defending him against some of the outrageous smears that plague his campaign.
As a PERSON, he deserves better than what passes for progressives/liberals on this site.

Nice toon ml! Is that line supposed to your melted north pointing pole?
@@,
Democrats are also masters of doing something like the Oreo cookie stunt and then planting hundreds if not thousands of blog postings claiming it never happened so that when someone uses a search engine they’ll find all the denials. It’s like the returning Vietnam vets that were never spat upon. It most assuredly happened, but you can find any number of stories pretending it didn’t. The same goes for the damages left behind by the Clinton White House staff.

Dang RW! You always come in with a funny post making me laugh thereby restoring my faith in mankind.
I’ve grown to despise what passes for liberals here. My only disappointment in so doing is that it pleases Semper to no end thereby discrediting the little liberal that remains within me.

5:20PM post continuation..don’t know what happened…..AJC nees to hire a computer expert (a dangerous word). Anyhoo 5:20Pm may sound like I’m being ‘cutsie.’ However, I’m DEAD (I hope not literally) serious. We need changes, and some of the changes will be uncomfortable:
DRILL (Keep it safe) DRILL up your whatever; just keep it safe. I’m serious about this. We need the OIL!!!!!
DRAFT: Bring it on! We’re gonna need it! No whining from those who have the Bushie stickers on their autos!!! You’re under the big 40, OFF YOU GO!!! Your country needs you!!!
ABORTION: CUT IT OUT!!! The wingnuts have received more than their fair share of mileage from this one. Fair people are on both sides, so CUT IT OUT! Perhaps we can then concentrate on services for the CHILDREN, the HOMELESS, THOSE WITH NO HEALTH CARE, the ELDERLY, and JOBS!!! Did I say JOBS. You betcha bottom dollar I did! Get off your idiot buttskin and find out what’s happening throughout the country. WE ARE IN A RECESSION (possibly a depression).
We must pull together to get out of this mess, and it appears we will have little help from McBush and company, and maybe Obama and company. Don’t know. Just call me DISGUSTED!!!!!

Naaaaohw, we’re perfectly happy to see Brother Michael show both his mettle and his Steele. In fact we think he belongs in the House. (And yes, we realize that the Senate is not the House of Representatives, but if anyone belongs in the H-O-U-S-E, it’s that boy!) In the meantime, he can always warm his brand on Fox News, beside the happy Juan Williams.
It’s all good.

That Oreo thing, I wouldn’nt fret about it. For one thing it represents a pretty boring schoolyard slang that dates to the Zootsuit Riots, the pigeonholing of each child, on appearances, as “coconut”, or “pineapple”, or whatever. And a little less insignificantly, it really intends the opposite: it wants you precisely to pay no attention to contents or substance, but rather all attention to the bottle, the cover. In that way it’s the most racist outbreak in this fairly racist country in a very long time.
Sad, but historically true.

A little late, but I now get your point!
I found myself a little wrapped up in defense of Michael Steele.
I don’t recall who it was that said I should change my name to “Duck and Bob” last night, but maybe Midori and ITN should consider it as theirs.
The question stands unanswered.
I’m not surprised.

yeah, @@, Steele is a man. That could be a problem were he a Democrat, no?
I’m a man too, though, but what good does that do ME and my fried dataglove? How are American males to become more Steeley men if not with the help of the most prescient American heroines?

Kidnapping, rape, satanic cults…..and they even mentioned in the report the Democrat party affiliation. Of course, I also agree with the man that walked out saying “innocent until proved guilty.’
Power Line also notes that Joy Johnson, the Democratic Party official — well, ex-official — also worked for the Durham People’s Alliance … which formed in support of Mike Nifong and the stripper who broke the law in attempting to frame innocent students of Duke University of the same crime alleged here. Listen to the whole report and let the mind boggle about how Johnson could have ascended to her role in the state party with a husband who advertised himself as a New Age magician, and not as entertainment.

GOOD GRIEF, Mike: first it was St. Peter with butterfly wings (twice!!!) and now it’s PENGUINS AT THE NORTH POLE. Mike, penguins are Southern Hemisphere birds. There are not now nor have there ever been penguins at the North Pole.
You need to hire a research assistant.

Reminds me of the old joke.
Q. Why don’t polar bears eat penguins.
A. Because by the time that they’ve swum from the North Pole to the South, they’re too exhausted to catch them.
