Oh my, the Urinal/DNC is treating Bruno like she’s the Republican:

{{{{Clinton wins Kentucky, but Obama touts delegate lead-Urinal/DNC}}}}

She stomped his guts out, stomped the crap of the dhimmokrat presumptive nominee:

{{{{Clinton, 413,500, 65%, 28, Winner.}}}}

{{{{Obama, 189,312, 30%}}}}

Bring back Bruno!

{{{{My colleagues on The Times’s editorial page called the bill “disgraceful.” My former colleagues at The Wall Street Journal’s editorial page ripped it as a “scam.” Yet such is the logic of collective action; the bill is certain to become law. It passed with 81 votes in the Senate and 318 in the House — enough to override President Bush’s coming veto. Nearly everyone in Congress got something.}}}}

{{{{The question amid this supposed change election is: Who is going to end this sort of thing?}}}}

{{{{Barack Obama talks about taking on the special interests. This farm bill would have been a perfect opportunity to do so. But Obama supported the bill, just as he supported the 2005 energy bill that was a Christmas tree for the oil and gas industries.}}}}

{{{{John McCain opposed the farm bill. In an impassioned speech on Monday, he declared: “It would be hard to find any single bill that better sums up why so many Americans in both parties are so disappointed in the conduct of their government, and at times so disgusted by it.”}}}}

Great article from Joe Lieberman.

Like the cartoon, Mike Luckovich! Especially the perfect deployment of the signature Luckovich Hand, with palm excised—-in this case rendering Hillary’s a mere pom-pom in search of something about herself worth cheering.

But the Energizer really makes it. Back when the Bugsy Berrigan Five were all the rage, my favorite always was the little guy on skins. Maybe it was the shades, I dunno, but somehow he just seemed so…cool.

So years ago McCain introduces legislation to restrict lobbyists and clean up the process. Regardless of the consequences for his future plans. But both parties united to defeat his proposal.

So now we do not have a law that would prohibit these excesses. Instead, we have people saying what a candidate “ought” to do because “I think this is the moral thing to do” (there’s that parallel with the Religious Right imposing morality, again).

And because McCain does what the law permits, with a situation Congress took action to not prohibit, he is denounced.

You don’t see a problem with this?

Shawny 8:24

I still think Sen Lieberman would be an interesting VP pick. Care to guess which Party would give him less grief as their candidate’s choice?

Also, if caring about the Constitution, ending stupid, pre-meditated, oil-driven wars and returning to a country of laws an individual freedoms makes many of us radicals, I say “Thanks for the compliment!”

ITN at 8:49. Yes, I see a problem with it. It is fundamental to how Washington operates. The problem is that those that like their pockets lined will never align with an idea that is moral in nature, therefore, it is a losing proposition.

Paul….I agree, and I suspect that McCain will pick Joe L. In that ticket, I would vote for them. My choice in 2000 was Lieberman (for either party), but ‘preacher’ Gore was a little more animated and likable, kind of like this Obama dude. Quite a speaker. Look at the Urinal/DNC getting all “religious” this morning:

{{{{{{{{Arthur Bruce Tesler’s acquittal on two of three charges Tuesday may have spared him a long prison term for his role in the killing of a 92-year-old woman —- but a spectator at his trial said the Almighty would have the last word.}}}}

{{{{“I put it all in God’s hands,” said Esther Woltz as she waited on the Fulton County jury’s verdict for the Atlanta police detective.}}}}

The libs can’t pin the murder of this elderly woman, WHO TOOK A SHOT AT THE COPS WITH HER REVOLVER, on one of the brave souls who risk their lives to protect us, so instead they throw a huge fit and placed a hex on his as-s.

GFY (good for you.)

~~~~~
Screaming Urinal/DNC headline:
{{{{Pastor gets 9-year term!!!!!!}}}}
Pastor?
{{{{A Kennesaw pastor was sentenced to nine years in prison Tuesday for her part in a profitable multistate scheme to encourage illegal immigrants to file untruthful visa applications.}}}}
{{{{The Rev. Emma Gerald, 56, was convicted in December of helping mostly Brazilian immigrants in Cobb County for temporary residency, work permits, and travel permits.}}}}
{{{{Gerald ran a small local church and conducted her scam in immigrant churches across the country.-Urinal/DNC}}}}
First of all, I welcome the news that the AJC/DNC has now decided to crack down on illegal immigration, here I thought they would never come around.
Second, how would you like to be a virtual left wing savior of the illegal, doing the good works of the DNC, but still have your as-s handed to you in the kangaroo court of public opinion, just because the Urinal cannot resist taking a potshot at religion?
If you are a liberal, be sure to wear a crash helmet because these pinkos will throw you under the bus at the first available opportunity.
I’ve just been struck by how many times, recently, when McCain’s been shown, Lieberman’s in the picture. As important as evaluating advisors (in this case, I have more reservations with some of Mccain’s than I do with Obama’s - but that does not mean advice gets translated into action, if the past few weeks are any indication) so in this cycle is the VP of significant importance.
If the “center” is what wins elections, that’s be a formidable ticket.
AJC/DNC,
The local newspaper is not responsible for “cracking down on illegal immigrants”. Their job is to simply report the news (except on the editorial page).
As far as the newspaper “getting all religious”, they were simply reporting what other people said about a trial verdict. Yet you just can’t resist a weak, petty, peurile comment.
Perhaps you should just link to these articles instead of spinning them with your twisted logic.
The ‘preacher’ Gore comment stems from the “talk” he gave at Ebenezer Baptist Church during his campaign in 2000. He went on ranting and raving just like he was a black preacher, instead of a presidential candidate. It was so phony and an obvious attempt to play to a specific constituency, that it totally turned me off to him. Otherwise, I think he wasn’t too bad.
I think his ‘global warming’ alarmism is too much to swallow. First it caused the heavy hurricaine seasons, then it is causing excessive wind shear, which is reducing hurricaines…what next?
Maybe this is why we haven’t heard about any of the Obambi/ William “Eric Rudolph” Ayers from them, you reckon?
I am not naive enough to believe that the Urinal/DNC all of a sudden found a low level criminal and decided to drag them through the mud based on the fact that they were helping illegal immigrants scam the system, considering how much blubbering and moaning I have seen over the years from these same people about the “plight” of illegals, that seems so, let’s say, ironic.
And then to reference this person’s fake church twenty times?
“Why? Will it accomplish anything?
Will it change your opinion or mine?”
I thought battling against futility and working for change was the point of the campaign. Or is progress made only when the OTHER party comes to a new understanding?
I try not to engage in the “yeah buts” - it’s consistency I’m looking for. If it is wrong for McCain to go against stated desires and utilize lobbyists, is it also wrong for wealthy Democratic Senators and Representatives who condemn “low” marginal tax rates for the super-rich to not voluntarily pay the higher tax rate, as they’ve stated is the fair thing to do?
Mostly I just wanted to see if someone who’s a staunch Left antiRight would ever allow that much -
Controlled or influenced - I think it comes back to underlying conviction. But I also think it’s critical to see new opportunities and have the flexibility to act. Nixon going to China was one - drove the Right nuts. And Reagan’s Berlin call to Gorbachev - drove the establishment State Dept and some of his key advisers nuts.
ITN 9:35
I really wasn’t trying to be snarky - but I did find the exchange quite enjoyable. I try not to take much of this so seriously as to remain awake at night thinking “If my guy doesn’t win we’re doomed.” I have faith in the country can survive quite a bit. Heck, look at the last eight years!
I hope the upper-level cuts aren’t permanent, too. But I also hope we can do some serious (boldface, underline, italics) cuts and reduce the overall tax burden (all levels) while still meeting our responsibilities to others. I really think it’s possible.
But as far as expecting the top leadership to pay more tax voluntarily - I don’t think so. Eastwood’s perspective is worth quoting -
Everybody’s trying to talk her into folding, but it doesn’t seem like the spirit of Americana,” Eastwood told Politico…
“Put yourself in the place of [Clinton]: You’ve gone out there and made a thousand speeches, and you’ve shaken a million hands and you’ve been out there working your a* off,” Eastwood said. “And then somebody comes up and says, ‘Why don’t you just drop out of it?’”
The actor/director/producer/jazz aficionado… said Clinton’s fortunes could change: Barack Obama could trip over himself again, as he did with the controversies over his association with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Obama’s remarks about working-class voters clinging to their religion and guns.
“I watch Clinton and feel kind of sorry for her and wonder, ‘What are all these people telling her to run away for?’” Eastwood said. “She’s showing her strength by hanging in there.”
Shawny - The fact is that the ‘science’ on global warming is all over the place. Therefore, it is NOT science. Any decent history student could tell DumGore that if he would listen. But he is a man of marginal intelligence with a rock-star complex, so he needs an agenda, facts be damned.
Just an example of how much warmer the Earth has been in recorded history: The Battle of Hastings was fought on October 14, 1066, on the beach at Hastings, England. The battle site is commemorated by a large stone monument. This monument is ONE MILE from the present shorline. Obviously ocean levels have receded since that time. In fact, at that time, grapes were grown in England and wine was a major export. Grapes cannot be grown in England today. It is too cold.
Climate, just like weather, goes in cycles. That is a fact. The Earth may be getting warmer, but only time will tell. Man has little effect one way or the other. During the 1970s these same ‘scientists’ were claiming that these carbon fuels and the gasses they produce would push us into another ice age. They even made cartoons about it.
I think that if the term “permanent” had never been used the tax cuts would be “permanent” by now. Too many people believe permanent means they can never be changed, but all it would take is new legislation.
The Obama campaign supplied plastic beach balls that were batted around the crowd. Rock music blared, a few people danced, and volunteers handed out cups of water.))
Some in the crowd said they’d already voted for Clinton.
Sasha Varma-Arora, 26, of Portland said she wanted to be part of —->”the vibe<—- he sets up for people.”
—->”We just wanted to see him,”<—- said Norman Yoshida, 64, of Portland. “We —->need<—- somebody who can be inspirational, and —->he inspires.”<—-
Devin McClain, 23, flew up from San Diego to volunteer for the campaign and see the speech. She said the campaign meant a lot to her personally because —->like Obama, her father is black and her mother is white.<—-
All the Zionists like Ed Koch will support McCain with money, votes, and quotes. They are terrified of having to listen to the US government instead of dictating to the US government.
Without US support, Israel will have to give back the Palestinian territories it now occupies. Then heaven forbid, there might be some progress toward peace in that part of the world. None of the other strategies has been successful.
Maybe President Obama will place some conditions on the $2-3 billion/year aid the US gives to Israel. Hell, Israel is the only recipient of US military aid that is not required to buy any US-produced military hardware. They use our money to develop their own weapons. And their people have a higher standard of living than many in the US…subsidized by the American people.
Yep, the Palestinians really know where the USA stands. And so does Jimmy Carter.
cityofdecatur,
Israel didn’t “declare its independence”! It was created by an act of the United Nations from the British Protectorate.But before then, the British occupied it:
{{{With the British Mandate and the Balfour Declaration of 1917, in which Britain recognised Jewish demand for a homeland, the Jewish population increased from 10% in 1918 to 30% in 1936. In 1937 it was decided to partition Palestine with Jewish and Arab states.}}} That decision was suspended because of WWII.
Would you like some more “free” education? How about the fact that total US aid to Israel exceeds $3 billion/year at present.
You also need a history lesson about the 1967 War, and the 41 years of occupation since. Maybe you would like a list of the many U.N. resolutions condemning Israel’s actions against the Palestinians.
There is so much you don’t know. Or to put it another way, there is so little you do know.
That’s a real sore point with you, isn’t it?
It should be noted the UN created two entities - a Palestinian state and a Jewish state. The Arab world rejected the idea of a Palestinian state and attacked shortly after Israel was created.
Most all countries today were taken, stolen, bought, traded, imposed or what have you from someone else’s land. Israel’s nothing special in that regard (except for the fact the action was done by the UN).
Both sides, as is true with most, have done good things, and bad things. Israel has shown a willingness to live in peace, as have some Arab states. The peace treaties with Israel, Jordan and Egypt, with mutual state recognition, testify to that.
As far as I can tell, the Arab world hasn’t been all that great on action to create a Palestinian state. I think Israeli troops, indeed, all Israelis, including settlements, withdrew from the Gaza. Yet the rockets, they just keep on a’coming. I know, I know, Israeli policies haven’t helped - and I think the reasons for those policies are lost on most.
So peace is possible - it’s been achieved with some. But the “we will kill you all” rhetoric doesn’t engender confidence. Nor does the “we’ve compromised all we’re going to.”
As far as the financial support - well heck, just ask anyone who’s ever adopted a kid!
BTW - some of those weapons mods have been pretty impressive. When the Bek’a Valley was more heavily fortified in the 80s than anything we faced in WWII or Vietnam, the Israelis developed some great recce drones. That recent criticism by SecDef Gates to the AF and Navy - particularly the AF - for their lack of vision, foresight and creativity? Stems back to the 90s when he was CIA and approached the AF to develop drones like the Israelis had. AF said “what? no pilots? are you nuts? forget it!”
Anyhow - with both sides nursing historical hurts and animosities, with the memories of some living of near extermination and others threatening to finish the job, well, it’s not exactly the best atmosphere.
You’re right to the MAX. But the P.R. machines of the last 50 years don’t tell Americans the whole story. Israel has more than 200 illegal “settlements” created on Palestinian land. There are very strong opposition movements in Israel, but they get almost zero media exposure here in the USA.
As far as continued violence, that is what caused Israel to return the Gaza strip, so I guess some Palestinians think it will work on the Golan Heights and Jerusalem. They know with absolute certainty that Israel won’t return them under any other conditions.
Funny though…Israel was created by a UN action, but has ignored well over 100 UN resolutions. And the USA has vetoed almost every Security Council sanction against Israel. Verrrrrrrrrry interesting!
If my memory is correct, the settlements are West Bank. Interesting observation about the efficacy of violence. That’s a new example of the concept “foreign.” Trying to get inside their heads is a challenge.
West Bank, the entire Jerusalem question, will be thorny. But I’d like to think with the proper security guarantees those settlements will go the way of past settlements.
Israel’s getting more complex. Twenty percent of Israelies, I believe, are Arab. Many of the recent arrivals are about as Jewish as many Americans are Catholic. Thank you Mr. Gorbachev.
Correct, too, about the PR machines. But it’s not all that different than what we see here every day, is it? Can’t concede for one moment that “my” side may have a fault. It’d take time away from pointing out “your” side’s faults.
It’s probably not all that mysterious about the UN votes - just examine the blocks of nations, those comprised of or sympathetic to, Arab states, the motions they introduce, then compare to Israeli allies. I can kinda understand why some resolutions get passed and vetoed, passed and vetoed.
But in all seriousness - I believe the US and Israel should press hard for a settlement. Even one less than optimum. Having that off the table with hopefully increased ties among the countries - and maybe even Israeli assistance in establishing non-petroleum based economies? - before fundamentalist states with nuke ambitions develop into something more than bluster, could only be a good thing.
Sorry Paul,
I’m trying to put together a Brunswick Stew while blogging. Not easy.
Just because the P.R. machines are no different than what we have here doesn’t make what israel does moral or even a little bit “right”. The Israeli PR machine declared all-out war on Jimmy Carter when he told the truth in his book!
Yes, we need to help implement a lasting peace. Jimmy Carter tried to do it. Even Bill Clinton tried. They had to negotiate with Arabs (most of whom are Muslims). This administration only talks to Israel. When Hamas is democratically elected, our government won’t talk with them. Where has that gotten us?
The Israelis, I believe, really wanted Jerusalem and won’t give it up without…..what? The United Nations has always demanded that territory acquired in a war be returned. Israel, created by the UN, refuses to return these lands and, in fact, builds settlements on them. What message is sent to the Palestinians, Muslims, Arabs, Coptics, Syrians, Egyptians, Jordanians, Iranis, Iraqis, Libyans, etc. (pick one or more)?????
Until someone twists Israel’s arm, little progress will occur.
Andee, it might help your cause (if, by some remote chance, you actually ARE a conservative activist) if you didn’t exaggerate so blatantly.
The number of abortions performed in the United States dropped to 1.2 million in 2005 — the lowest level since 1976, according to a new report. - Washington Post, 1/17/08
Being off by almost a factor of 5 isn’t just a slight error. It’s an intentional, hysterical lie. Propaganda designed to titillate and horrify citizens into thinking abortions are far more prevalent than they really are.
I’ll go out the door with you, except that outside I’ll have this reservation, and I’ll say it to you only once: when our Abba said that he’d made us in His image, He wasn’t referring to our smiles or fingernails, or even to our ability to move us to emotive political positions—-because He was referring to US, to such as WE!
Andee, my bad. Or my typo. Your abortion stats were off by a factor of 50.
You truly have no shame.
Miss Fonda: Yes, the proper use of the word “allude” eluded me.
And I was referring to the so called “blue light laws” in general, what, pray tell, does this have to do with North Georgia’s meth problems?
Is there something that only a wino like you would know?
{{{{And the last thing I need from you is some lame suggestions about what I should do in the community. You have no idea.}}}}
Oh I’ve got a pretty good idea of you, reciting chapter and verse propaganda from the Urinal/DNC and totally clueless about the meager church attendance in your own place of residence.
But I could be wrong, maybe you are some kind of community leader, just a real sorry one considering all of the meth heads you got hanging around up there, hahaha.
Bozo.
RW,
I didn’t say that 74% of registered voters actually voted. I said 74% of the people who voted went for Bush.
You twist facts…you’re too smart to be doing it inadvertently, so you must be lying. No surprise.
finch,
Don’t look now but your own stats back up Andy’s claim of 50 million. You do know how to multiply don’t you? Even if 1976 to 2005 had static numbers of 1.2 million you’d have 34.8 million. However those were the low points during those 29 years and you’re leaving 1973, 1974, 1975, 2006, & 2007.
In fact Andy’s numbers might be on the low side.
{{{{By bon scott May 21, 2008 7:00 PM The number of abortions performed in the United States dropped to 1.2 million in 2005 — the lowest level since 1976, according to a new report. - Washington Post, 1/17/08}}}}
bonnie: That’s 1.2 million a YEAR being referenced in your news blurb^^.
I’m right on the money, as usual.
Bedwetter,
Unusual for you to admit your flawed education. But not surprising for you to hide behind nuance (Blue Laws?) when caught in an error of fact!
And calling me a wino? At least wine is legal. Your Bad Conduct discharge was for what? Pot? Don’t ask, don’t tell? C’mon…..everybody wants to know!
{{{{{74% of these meth-fueled rednecks voted for Bush…I see a pattern.}}}}-N-GA @ 6:02
Sounds like I’m right again. Did you know that when your words disappear off the top off your monitor they haven’t vanished into cyberspace?
