Ahh, yes, Bruno’s corpse lurches aimlessly about:
{{{{Clinton will support a proposal to get the party’s rules and bylaws committee on May 31 to recommend that the delegations be seated regardless of the rules.-Urinal}}}}
And thee innocent villagers are terrorized by thee shambling monster:
{{{{Less than half of Mrs. Clinton’s backers in Indiana and North Carolina say they would support Mr. Obama if he were the nominee.}}}}
~~~~~
{{{{Regardless of marital status, income or church attendance, right-wing individuals reported greater life satisfaction and well-being than left-wingers, the new study found.}}}}
{{{{Conservatives also scored highest on measures of rationalization, which gauge a person’s tendency to justify, or explain away, inequalities. To justify economic inequalities, a person could support the idea of meritocracy, in which people supposedly move up their economic status in society based on hard work and good performance. In that way, one’s social class attainment, whether upper, middle or lower, would be perceived as totally fair and justified.}}}}
In other words, we live in reality.
Bwa.
~~~~~
My rule of thumb for gauging how bad the United States is beating the terrorists in Iraq is by seeing how loud the Urinal whines about it all:
{{{{Entire sections of Baghdad’s embattled Sadr City district have been left nearly abandoned by civilians fleeing a U.S.-led showdown with Shiite militias and seeking aid after facing shortages of food and medicine, humanitarian groups said Wednesday.-Urinal}}}}
We must really be kicking the terrorist’s as-s.
Does anyone else not remember, not too long ago, when the pinko media was taunting us with the “lawlessness” in Baghdad and Basra? What did they think that would lead to?
And now that we are cracking down like they must have wanted us to, why is this an “atrocity” now?

We all know that John McCain famously remarked that he didn’t know much about economics. Given that, who are the people advising McCain? Today I’ve chosen three members of McCain’s “Brain Trust” to highlight. Let’s take a look:

Well I do declare. Andy (the Lying Bedwetter) sniped me last night. I shouldn’t be surprised. Once again his jealousy emerges. He thinks “thou shalt not covet thy neighbor’s goods” just doesn’t apply to him. Just another Christian in his own mind.
I notice he took a shot at someone else. Was it Daniel? In any event, he tried to shed the sobriquet that so defines him - the Bedwetter - by referring to someone else as the Bedwetter. Now how can he ever hope to distance himself from the descriptive bedwetter when it fits him so well? I think we’ll just let him keep it.
Was it yesterday? No the day before, I believe, when he made the observation that homosexuality is a sin. Well, who made him God for a day? Before you know it he’ll start quoting the Christian history book to support his case. But then if you ask him the question: “Bedwetter, what is sin?”, he will define it in Judeo-Christian terms. Philosophy is just a word to him.
Perhaps he should study “tolerance”, then try to practice it.

Aahhh yes ml…the Political Porker signing off.
(((McCain, who has refused to request spending for projects in his home state of Arizona, has ——>long been a vocal critic<—— of earmarks.)))
(((Clinton and Obama announced this week they favor the ban, despite their own use of earmarks.)))
(((McCain said the ——>Democratic presidential candidates are late to the anti-earmarks position,<—— saying both have requested earmarks using taxpayer dollars “that are absolutely outrageously wasted.”)))
Agreed! Let’s take a look…we know McCain’s requests were ZERO, but
Obama’s total requested earmark funding was about $330 million.
Clinton grabbed $342 million worth of earmarks last year, ranking her 10th highest on the list of senators, according to the budget watchdog group Taxpayers for Common Sense.
WOW, “the newly minted” Obama really hit the ground running on earmarks. Some kinda CHANGE, eh?
I’ve often wondered how McCain continues to get elected when he doesn’t deliver the pork to Arizona. Must be something about his character…something about his straight talk approach.
“Charming” just doesn’t cut it for me.

Just an observation - I’ve never seen anyone making the “homosexuality is sin” case address this: are you speaking of self, of a characteristic (such as gender or hair color) or of behavior? What of the person who declares himself or herself homosexual but who leads a chaste life?
Always thought it might make a good sermon, too - (okay, got my joke for the day out of the way - wait, today’s a twofer - the soldier porn case was first).

Paul,
Perhaps you should pose the question about homosexuality to Andy. He is the one who posted that it is a sin.
Makes one pause for a moment and wonder about a gay Catholic priest (chaste, or otherwise) preaching a sermon about Onan. Or is the priest even gay if he just has feelings, but never acted on them? Maybe Onan had the solution?
Then again, I wonder if the men of ancient Greece (pick any city-state of the era) thought of themselves as homosexual, bisexual, or in the ovine sense, omnisexual.
That’s enough humor from me for the day.

LOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!
The question about Obama is a natural follow-on. McCain admitted that learning is a lifelong endeavor - that there is always more to know. For that, Dems attack him.
So it follows, as they don’t attack Obama, they think he “knows it all.” Or apply different standards to him than to McCain.
Just saying, be careful in what you launch against McCain as it can easily be turned back against Obama.
Same with the “I expect McCain to tell that independent group to not just tell them to not run that ad, but to compel them.”
Regarding the porn thing, just wondered how gutsy your sites were in taking up a hot-button issue that couldn’t be spun to anti-Bush or anti-McCain.
I see it as a free speech issue and treating adults as adults. I know, that can be difficult for sites that regularly refer to soldiers, Marines, airmen and sailors as “kids.”

Well, the other material’s not ready yet, so back for a few -
ITN 9:16
The military sets the standards for what criteria soldiers need to meet to be considered deployable. Haven’t had a dental exam in the previous year? Nondeployable. Haven’t completed some briefings - sitting in a classroom learning about how to behave? Nondeployable.
Everything’s not a crisis.
Goldie - ITN
There are some clear differences between McCain and Obama that, I think, mean far more to many people that a reliance on personality - which really strikes me as a modification of the religious right’s values and standards test.
Take health care. McCain proposes a $2500 tax credit for people to get insurance. Half of households don’t pay income tax - so a credit? Appears out of touch. Doesn’t do anything about being deemed uninsurable.
Or foreign policy. Forget the 100 years line. In spite of DNC Chair Dean’s protests, it comes across as quibbling and misrepresentation. Obama’s cochair is a retired AF 4-star who’s spoken (and written) extensively about the realities of a superpower’s overseas commitments. So let Obama come forward with a new basing idea, or a revision to “the way it’s been done since WWII.” Would make lessen the effectiveness of the lack of experience charge.
I’m just amazed that so many sites that bemoan the lack of substance continue to generate so many links that are so… unsubstantive.
BTW - McCain’s on O’Reilly tonight. Be good to tune in and compare to Hillary’s interview and see what’s in store for Obama.

Goldie - it is too bad that the Democrats do not know what kind of damage their poddy has done and will continue to do if you are given the chance. This is the party of Andrew Jackson, the man who ordered the greatest American genocide. He founded the real Democrat party. (Jefferson’s party died out and was never called Democratic-Republican anyway. It was called Republican). Hillary and Barak even made speeches at the Jefferson/Jackson Day Dinner a few days ago in Indiana. Jackson also institutionalized the spoils system and this was the party of the Dred Scott decision.
This is the party of Tammany Hall and the Chicago political machine. Read ‘The Jungle’ and ‘Gangs of New York’.
This is the party of Woodrow Wilson who officially segregated Washington, DC. This is the party of such race baiters as J. William Fullbright, to whom William Jefferson Blythe Clinton gave a Presidential Medal of Freedom and Robert Byrd, who like Fullbright signed the Southern Manifesto and who was also a memeber of KKK.
This is the party of Lyndon Johnson. Need I say more about that kind of corruption?
I won’t go into the corruption of the Turman Administration, but it was rampant.
The Palmer Raids took place during the Wilson Administration. FDR was responsible for the imprisonment of thousands of innocent Japanese-American citizens. I always thought we were fighting the Nazis and the Japanese for precisely that kind of thing.
Johnson’s Great (haha) Society gave us perpetual welfare and a plethora of useless social programs which have never improved anything and the poverty rate is still where it was and illegitimacy has sky-rocketed.
Jimmy Carter was a disaster, period. He still is. We today are still suffering from his bad energy policies and the fact that the DemONcrats have blocked every effort to drill for oil in this country. President Bush and other Republicans foolishly went along with the farm lobby and the DEMONcrats to further complicate the situation and start diverting food production to ‘fuel’ production. Biofuels are NOT green and they are expensive to produce and their very production causes inflation in food prices - and the poor and middle class. Ted Kennedy, John Kerry, John Edwards, Al Gore and the Clintons never know the difference.

What’s cold is making the accusation that the military sends tens of thousands of troops who aren’t fit into combat. What’s cold is accusing senior military officers of hating our troops by doing so.
Reality is providing a couple of examples of the plethora of criteria the military uses and illustrating that when the real world intrudes on the theoretical, some of the criteria dreamed up by the headquarters beancounters may not be all that “critical.”
C’mon, second time you’ve defaulted to the “why do you hate the troops” line. Don’t you remember our previous conversation and what such a nonsensical comment leaves you open to?

I meant worldwide basing. The reason we maintain military forces - as opposed to, say, civilian aid forces. Or integrating Obama’s “service” theme. As noted the other day, we have military in 135 countries. Some are in small numbers, but still, 135. Out of less than 200 countries?

I really think that a man with such a stellar electoral record and such a sterling record as President should be a man to whom a major political party looks for advice!
I’m telling you younger folks, this thing is looking more and more like 1976 - Carter was vague and had ZERO foreign policy experience too. His time in the US Navy was spent on manouevres, so he could not even brag of battle experience. He did graduate from the Naval Academy, but Grant graduated from West Point, and Gore graduated from Yale. (He flunked out of Harvard Divinity School and Vanderbilt Law School). Where does one begin. Perhaps it’s best to start at that point when a blogger new to this blog, and a self-described Democrat attacks Obama (I think she referred to him as a bomb-throwing terrorist - sorry if I get that wrong), and is challenged by another blogger who observes that Obama would certainly be better than what we have now…she then responds about how much more money her husband (not her) is earning, her 2 luxury cars and big house…and this is how she measures the success (or failure) of this administration, it kinda makes you wonder about a lot of things. Is she a DINO? Or is she simply another racial bigot looking for an excuse not to vote for Obama? And does her family’s apparent economic success typify the rest of America? And is that the primary (or sole) criterion that she uses to evaluate this administration? Then again, what if three years ago her husband was under-employed or in school? Then tripling his earnings really wouldn’t mean much.
All that to say that she doesn’t paint herself in a flattering light.
BTW, Bedwetter. A couple of years ago when I first started blgging here, I mentioned my economic situation solely to put a perspective on a position I was taking concerning health insurance. Ever since then you have never missed an opportunity to use spin that fact using terms like “boast”, “brag”, and “parade”. That simply makes you a disingenuous liar…kinda like Rush Limbaugh. I know, you’re flattered.
Remember Bedwetter, you are getting Left Behind!

The Democrats’ budget Would raise taxes on individuals earning as little As $31,850. “Under both Democratic plans, tax rates would increase by 3 percentage points for each of the 25 percent, 28 percent and 33 percent brackets. In nominating Don McGahn to replace David Mason on the FEC, the White House and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) have chosen an individual whose past record shows disdain for the FEC and little interest in the proper enforcement of campaign finance laws. McGahn is counsel to the NRCC. He previously served as a campaign finance and ethics lawyer for former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, and as a member of DeLay’s legal team, representing him in legal and ethics issues regarding the Jack Abramoff affair.

“Cold is not placing resonsibility were it belongs. 43000 not medically ready by military standards. (That’s the reality dude)”
So why not ask the miltary commanders, majors up to generals, the Centcom commander, Gen Petraeus, why they hate their own troops? After all, they are the ones who make the “go, no-go” decision. They have the authority to waive criteria or apply them. Serious question, ITN. They are the ones with the responsibility. So they are the ones you, and your sites, need to ask that question to.
The real issue is, the sites take a not-to-big deal, or one with a simple explanation (not that there’s only one explanation) and use it as another “hate the troops” launch point.
I can’t believe you used the “occupation for oil” line… the cliches just keep on coming.

I read over her comments from last night, and I feel your assessment is pretty much on target.
It’s always been odd to me that as a primary defense mechanism, people feel the need to talk about how much money they have - in their minds having money equates to success, and that somehow legitimizes or makes their positions stronger. Very odd.

I meant the Dem commercials stating, or implying, McCain says 100 years of war is okay with him. That’s the kind of misrepresentation Obama’s campaigning against.
He did say a long-term occupation, as we do in Europe and Japan, is okay with him.
Gen McPeak - Obama’s cochair, has written on the realities of this.
So refining it to “continuing the policies of the past 60 years” (which is accurate) could be an effective campaign point for Obama.
I’ve said in the past - this country should be on a crash course to change current consumption practices; generate more energy (traditional and alternate) from within our own country; do what we need to do to reduce our reliance on petroleum to a point where we can meet our requirements without reliance on Middle Eastern sources.
That eliminates one strategic interest leading to basing. The other’s jihadists - and while we may need forces stationed in the region to deal with that, I think the way we do that can be greatly changed from the traditional way we’ve done things.

Bosch,
Carter ranks anywhere from 19th to 34th in presidential rankings. Not stellar but about the same as his predecessor.
But there is no doubt in my military mind that GWB, the fighter pilot hero of Alabama, will finish DEAD LAST.
The difficulty with trying to keep it simple vis a vis dealing with Dustbomb is that it reduces the conversation to the level of “See spot run”!
But I still contend your comment about anti-stupid war was dead on.
And Bushco’s senseless and deadly invasion/occupation of Iraq certainly fits the definition.

AmVet,
I look at Carter this way. He was president for four years. Four years of his life. Who cares is he was a bad president? He’s even said he was a bad president. He admits his mistakes.
Those who criticize him, and have nothing to say except he was a bad president, to me, are not worth arguing with, because they are too narrow in their scope to even deal with. People who criticize his efforts with Hamas are simply being rascist, plain and simple. They do not want to see these people as human beings, which is the basis for their frustrations and lashing out with violence.
If you look at the history of many Israeli leaders, they make Hamas look like nothing, and to ignore the same type of violence perpetrated by the Israelis against the Palestinians is outrageous.
I have a friend who is a devout Jew who just got back from a tour of Palestine. He’s outraged at the Israeli government, and believe me, for this man to feel that way, that’s saying ALOT. You don’t find anyone more Jewish than this guy, believe me.
I feel this meeting with Hamas, will win him yet another Nobel Peace Prize, as it should.
Real peace and real negotiations take some hard internal questions and some real talk - this administration is completely incapable of this, or simply doesn’t want to. They claim to be the crusaders of freedom and peace in the ME, when their actions speak for their real intent.

I ask all of my fellow democrats to help the people of Florida and Michigan to ensure that our votes count. It is very important to the democrat party that all voters are allowed to participate in the nominating process for the party’s presidential candidate. Let us not slip back to the days of the poll tax, counting blacks as only 2/3rds of a person and women’s suffrage.
Florida Democrats knew the consequences of setting their primary early, and they were warned repeatedly about it. Then, aided by gleeful Republicans, they went ahead and violated party rules anyway. Now, they want their delegates to be seated anyway, regardless of the fact that no Democratic candidates campaigned in the state and all agreed that Florida delegates would not be seated. I wonder if the writer would be advocating the same action if Obama had won the vote. Sounds like a Hillary backer to me.

This is certainly not fool proof, but generally I look to the source, to determine whether an assertion is credible or not.
If ANYONE truly believes Carter is anti-Semitic, there must be serious doubts about their connection with reality.
Ditto for the fallacious argument that Chuck Hagel is a liberal.
Both claims are absolute rubbish.
The geopolitical reality is that the Middle East is a long term nightmare.
Solutions to the problems are agonizingly slow in coming and happen in fits and spurts. Carter was one brief shining moment in that history.
And this administration as fronted by Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld and Condi (a third rate amateur according to Donald Trump) has been a major debacle.

Sorry it seems in circles. Let me rephrase - couple issues going on, here.
McCain did not say he’s fine with 100 years of war but implied he’s okay with forces there if no one’s getting hurt. DNC gives false impression and continues traditional attack ads. And it plays to the short-term advantage and ignores the long-term.
Obama could have an excellent counter to a 100-year occupation theme, without misrepresenting McCain. Great chance to set out new vision for how America will conduct itself, and position itself, in the Middle East and throughout the world.
I’m NOT happy with the idea of American troops in the MidEast for 100 years - as that implies we’ll have done nothing to achieve energy independence by then. Or take effective steps to counter, or minimize, jihadists. That’s the kind of noncreative thinking that concerns me about McCain and his advisors.
I’m NOT happy with the idea of American forces in most of those other countries around the world, either. Some say there are political realities for it. I’d say much of it is inertia.
I DO think it’s possible for this country to take steps to produce, conserve and invent our way out of reliance on MiddleEast oil - and to do so relatively quickly.
Same with counters to jihadist ideology. Not as quick, but possible.
I’ll stick my neck out and say, I’d be pleased if we had as great a presence, and interest, with the Persian/Arab world as we do in, say, Botswana.
I hope that’s clearer.

AJC Management says:
”{{{{Conservatives also scored highest on measures of rationalization, which gauge a person’s tendency to justify, or explain away, inequalities. To justify economic inequalities, a person could support the idea of meritocracy, in which people supposedly move up their economic status in society based on hard work and good performance. In that way, one’s social class attainment, whether upper, middle or lower, would be perceived as totally fair and justified.}}}}
In other words, we live in reality.”
What other reality is there? Do people really think that the rich stay rich and the poor stay poor based on any other factor than hard work? That is like suggesting that Bush got into Yale on the basis of factors other than merit. Does any one really believe that? What kind of stupid world do the libs live in anyway?
If you think, as I do, that a kid raised in the projects of Atlanta or in a trailer park in Hawkinsville and going to public schools has as much chance at being successful as a kid raised by millionaires and going to private schools, then you are living in a right-wing reality-based world. You may point to statistics that say that I must be f—-ing insane and that may be true, but what those statistics won’t tell you is that the poor want to be poor and that the rich, generation after generation, earn their way to the top. That is the real world as understood by right-wingers.
Given this sort of horse sense, don’t you want us in charge of defeating the terrorists who “hate us for our freedoms?”
And don’t tell me that you think that they don’t hate us for our freedoms. If you don’t think that Bin Laden is sitting in a cave fuming about First Amendment Rights you just aren’t living in a right-wing reality based world, like me and Luck.
Also with respect to Myanmar. What did they do to upset God? My right-wing rationality tells me they must have done something pretty bad. Makes you wonder whether God really hates gays though? I mean you never hear of a hurricane in San Francisco.

According to who? Us? That’s certainly one of the U.S.’s perspective, but I think the efforts are worth it.
The patience of these people are just not understood in our world. We want everything done right now, and quick. It just doesn’t work that way over there.
