Aye, that’s a sublime thing of great subtlety, that cartoon. Coming as it does mere months from the actual utterance to which it refers with only the slightest innacuracy. ‘Tis a comforting thing to see that chap from Arizona depicted as General Eisenhower. A mighty nation deserves an Eisenhower more than once.

Which is a lot longer than Al Qaida will be in Iraq.

Just another protest against the wanton, depraved Americans and their bombing bloodlust for little babies, right? And the Urinal just wants to register it’s displeasure with this atrocity too, with it’s whiny headline?:

{{{{More than a thousand people protested against a U.S. airstrike last week that killed the reputed head of al-Qaida in Somalia along with 24 other people in a central Somali town, organizers said.}}}}

Hee, hee! FINALLY someone actually notices the Republican sacrificial candidate for this year! And that’s never a good thing for those who still desperately dream of a GOP victory, or a continuation of Bush’s failed policy.

Of course, McLame never stood a snowball’s chance anyway, but it’ll be good to get him out of the way quickly so Obama can focus on more detailed planning how to restore America. Fortunately, he’s got millions of REAL Americans ready and willing to help snatch this nation back from the neocon psychos that have tried so long (and so transparently) to destroy it.

Gonna be a GREAT election! Wheeee!

Lamb Cannon, Mike’s cartoon is great. All these people want to do, namely those on the right, is to tell each other why their candidate (no matter how idiotic and self-serving he is, is better for our country). McCain has been trailing Barack and Hillary in every poll that has been done for the last 3 months, and yet people like Dusty and Candide see him winning. That shows me how the mind or lack of a mind can play tricks on people. Even with all the mud slinging in the democratic party, mainly from Hillary and her people. The democrats still hold the lead. Just think when the party picks a nominee and all come together, that means double trouble for McCain. There will be a democrat in the white house come November. All this right-wing propaganda is just what it is “propaganda”.

Hillary winning the nomination and then the White House would be the best thing to happen to the Republican Party. In much the same way as the Dems forgot about the white male, if they turn their backs on the young voter by going with Hillary the GOP will sweep in and steal them. The 2012 GOP, made up of these young voters, would then facilitate the next eight year Republican era.

Obama is the only candidate capable of getting reelected to the White House in 2012. A win by Hillary or McCain ensures the rival party’s eight year term starting in 2012.

The Democrats can attribute much of their recent failures to their refusal to acknowlege the white male. If they now choose to give the young voter the same treatment by nominating Hillary, the Party is over.

Dusty, Dusty, Dusty! I think you, like many, have misused the term hero. The definition of hero is, “one that shows great courage”. GMAN - with your discription of Senator McCain, you definitely have earned the sobriquet of ‘pinhead’. I dare to say that Senator McCain, who I am supporting only because he is so much better than the lame-brained alternatives that there is no comparison, is a genuine hero, and he is hardly senile. It took a lot of courage to decline to be sent home and to stay in Hanoi as a prisoner of a brutal regime under inhuman conditions. I daresay that you would have taken the easy out. I have no doubt that I would have given in to that temptation.

I disagree with Senator McCain on many issues, but I do not doubt his courage, his patriotism or his intellect. I do doubt all of those things in those who would cast aspersions on his character and his abilities.

Junk Science: The Great Global Warming Race Thursday, May 01, 2008

By Steven Milloy

Can global warming’s vested interests close the deal on greenhouse gas regulation before the public wises up to their scam?

A new study indicates alarmist concern and a need to explain away the lack of actual global warming. Researchers belonging to the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, or IPCC, reported in Nature (May 1) that after adjusting their climate model to reflect actual sea surface temperatures of the last 50 years, “global surface temperature may not increase over the next decade, as natural climate variations … temporarily offset the projected anthropogenic warming.”

You got that? IPCC researchers project no global warming over the next decade because of Mother Nature. Although the result seems stunning in that it came from IPCC scientists who have always been in the tank for manmade global warming, it’s not really surprising since the notion of manmade climate change has never lived up to its billing

By The Devil You say

GMAN - That is a fact. You can look it up, although I don’t think that you value the truth very much. You just want to be able to spew crap and have people accept it as fact. I thought you liberals called that kind of thing ‘swiftboating’. Because he was the son of an Admiral, the North Vietnamese did offer him the opportunity of early repatriation. He declined the offer. You probably accept Barak Obama’s explaination that he never heard the Most Wrong Rev. Wright espouse such racist and hate-filled views until this campaign started.

GMAN,mm and other American dissenters

I thought you might like a definition of “hero” from the dicitonary since you don’t seem to know who or what one is. This from the American College Dictionary:

hero 1. a man of distinguished valor or performance, admired for his noble qualities 2. one invested with heroic qualities in the opinion of others.

McCain can be described with both of those qualities. He is an American hero.

Too bad you can’t recognize a hero. Being filled with political hate like yours makes one blind.

Tom Hanks announces support for Obama’s presidential bid NEW YORK — Tom Hanks is supporting presidential hopeful Barack Obama.

Hanks has taken to his MySpace.com page to pledge his support for Obama, who is competing to be the first black president. Obama, who faces rival Hillary Rodham Clinton for the Democratic nomination, has also been endorsed by Oprah Winfrey, Bruce Springsteen and Scarlett Johansson.

Hanks, who won Oscars for his roles in “Forrest Gump” and “Philadelphia,” explains his decision: “It’s because of his character and vision, and the high road he has taken during this campaign. He has the integrity and the inspiration to unify us, as did FDR and Harry Truman and John F. Kennedy and even Ronald Reagan when they ran for the job.”

The actor says Obama and Clinton have each “pretended to eat cheese-steak sandwiches and go bowling,” “committed gaffes” and distanced themselves from supporters who could damage their campaigns.

But Hanks thinks an Obama presidency could bring about a “seismic shift,” and “live up to the great promise once shaped by our founding fathers.”

Signing off, the star says: “I’m Tom Hanks, I wrote and approved this message, and I’m now going to turn off the camera.”

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Barack Obama on Monday said if elected president he would examine the strict government oversight of the Teamsters union aimed at rooting out corruption, but denied any blanket commitment to end the federal monitoring.

Obama was discussing a Wall Street Journal report that said he won the endorsement of the Teamsters after privately telling it he backed an end to special federal oversight set up to eliminate the influence of organized crime in the union.

But you wingnuts have tried to make heros out of everyone. The word has ceased to mean anything. Kind of like the way you all use words like patriot, communist, traitor, etc.

I knew if I was patient you’d post a link I’d wholeheartedly agree with.

An observation on Obama:

I used to crack I’d vote for whomever offered me the biggest bribe. For the first time in a long time, it appears we have a candidate who’s not playing the game. Most run on a variation of “what I’m gonna give you.”

Well, Obama won’t “give” us back the gas tax. Says it does nothing to solve a fundamental problem. Tells students he wants to “give” them tuition - but they’ll have to work in public service to earn it. Tells Detroit, and the American public, he won’t “give” them what they want to hear about energy while they drive 12 mpg vehicles - what he will give are higher fuel economy standards.

Maybe he’s giving us a little more thought on some issues - no wonder the media and bloggers default to other topics.

You obviously do not read well. I have already given the “dictionary” meaning of ‘hero’ @2:29 which was a perfect fit for McCain for all your twistings, turnings and purposeful misconceptions.

Your last post did not need a definition it was so obvious. But I will give you one anyway. The American College Dictionary gives this definition of obscene:#1.offensive to modesty or decency *#2, *disgusting or repulsive. That fits your last post exactly.

Your posts do not make McCain less of a hero. They simply show you as a bitter old man who spews political hate like an antiquated whale. I am sorry you are in such a sad state.

Paul said - “Maybe he’s giving us a little more thought on some issues”

Barack Obama’s national plan for voluntary community service clearly illustrates his audacious goal to become the Nation’s Community Organizer.

“Barack Obama’s Plan For Universal Voluntary Citizen Service” is subtitled “Helping All Americans Serve Their Country.” “Universal” and “All” are only slight exaggerations. As president, he’d offer voluntary service programs for everyone except pre-schoolers through 5th grade. A substantial cafeteria of federal programs already serves this cuisine. But Obama plans to lengthen the serving line, considerably.

I was simply commenting on the idea of a politician not continually telling people what he’s “gonna give ‘em.”

On this blog the division seems to be Reps telling Dems they’re the Party of giving everything to everyone, especially special interest groups, while Dems tell Reps they’re the Party of giving to corporations and the well to do.

I illustrated Obama is now talking about giving, not just getting.

Sure, there’s a line between voluntary service and compulsory service. But the idea of people doing for their communities doesn’t strike me as such a bad idea. There’s already a lot of it - through churches, service organizations, etc. Not since JFK have we had a Pres candidate speak much in these terms.

BTW - scanning through the article, I noticed the tuition credit was for 100 hours of service. At the rally I attended, I believe his words were in terms of years, not hours.

I just don’t see where encouraging (not mandating) service is all that terrible a thing. Frankly, anything that gets people out of the “gimme” mentality (however they want to justify it) strikes me as a concept worth exploring.
