A Ruger Redhawk .41 Magnum, very nice.

~~~~~~
Like I was saying:
{{{{Global temperatures ‘to decrease’-Global temperatures have not risen since 1998, prompting some to question climate change theory.}}}}
Deal with it.
~~~~~~

Look at what the environmental terrorists have done to the price of corn, one of their idiot “alternatives” to oil:

{{{{Corn prices jumped to a record $6 a bushel Thursday, driven up by an expected supply shortfall that will only add to Americans’ growing grocery bill and further squeeze struggling ethanol producers.}}}}

And guess what; ethanol, a byproduct of corn and when used as a fuel, produces more greenhouse gases than gasoline does, with less energy output.

You know what; I would rather take my chances with “global warming,” than suffer through what the libs have done to us.

~~~~~
{{{{But in October, one of Ms. Sebelius’s cabinet secretaries, Roderick Bremby, denied Sunflower its permits. Using “emergency” discretion, he creatively ruled the expansion an imminent danger to the public - because the estimated 11 million tons of greenhouse gases it would emit each year might contribute to climate change.}}}}
{{{{Ms. Sebelius joined the green regulatory lobby that wants to unilaterally classify CO2 as an “air pollutant,” though it has none of the qualities that have always defined the term under federal or state law. Her effort is also an opening charge for a national moratorium on new coal plants, which is backed by the likes of Democrats Harry Reid, Ed Markey and, needless to say, Al Gore.}}}}
Shut down the power plants in Hairy Reed’s, Malarky’s and al-Gore’s neighborhood, see what the F happens.
Do as I say not as I do demokrats.
{{{{Consider: Senator Obama has the most liberal voting record in the U.S. Senate. He attends a church whose former long-time pastor is the epitome of alienation from even the liberal mainstream and will cause severe heartburn in the hearts of many Reagan Democrats in places such as Ohio, Macomb County (Michigan), or South St. Louis.}}}}
{{{{It is hard to imagine a domestic problem for which Senator Obama is not ready, willing and able to write a really big check to solve. And he is pretty much hard left on abortion and other social issues.}}}}
Can you say Dukakis?
~~~~~

{{{{Senator Charles Grassley of Iowa recently demanded that popular religious leaders Creflo Dollar, Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, Eddie Long of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, and Benny Hinn, among others, comply with an unprecedented congressional request for their financial records.}}}}

{{{{Pro-family leaders I have spoken to tell me they cannot recall a similar previous instance in which a congressional committee targeted major ministries under threat of subpoena. The ministries have been asked to produce financial records and internal documents to disprove their alleged guilt, about what exactly is not clear.}}}}

Ahhhh, but no Jeremiah Wright.

Not too biased.

Or illegal.

~~~~~
{{{{Using Time magazine’s fallacious account of the civilian deaths, Pennsylvania’s Democratic Rep. John Murtha went on a rampage of his own, telling every media outlet that would listen that the Marines had committed “cold-blooded murder.” He first claimed that his information came from a briefing from the Marine Corps Commandant, but when that claim was disproved he admitted that his source was Time magazine.}}}}
Still no apology to the troops.
Mike, you hit the nail RIGHT on the head today. Victor Hill is a real NUT you belongs in a padded cell in a looney bend with the likes of Bill and Hitlery KKKlinton, The Dishonorable Reverend Jeremiah REICH, The Dishonorable Louis Fara-CON and this blog’s resident Minister of MISINFORMATION, that rancid-smelling sack of sh!t lying left-wing slut and hussy, IN THE (Hussein) OOZE.
IN oTHEr NEWS… Word on the street is that our very own IN THE (Hussein) OOZE trained and served in Afghanistan under the antichrist himself, Osama bin Laden. OBL personally trained IN THE (Hussein) OOZE and several other anti-American liberal demoncrats to be a conduit to the American public as OBL and Al-Qadea’s “personal” MINISTER OF MISINFORMATION to try and turn Americans against the War on Terror by turning them against the U.S. Military and the heroic men and women that proudly serve in it thru the strategic cowardly use of constant cutting and pasting in the blogs of mainstream left-wing news organizations. Obviously, a major part of IN THE (hussein) OOZE’s terrorist training and islamafacist brainwashing was constant sexual domination by OBL and his top lieutenants. Boy, that Al-Qadea must have really done a number on IN THE (hussein) OOZE’s brain and backside because the effects really shows in the treasonous and cowardly tone of her postings.
In oTHEr NEWS, did you see…
IN THE (hussein) NEWS’ appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show yesterday as a pregnant transsexual man carrying Osama bin Laden’s “Love Child”.
While IN THE (hussein) OOZE was on the show Oprah presented the confused transsexual a lifetime achievement award for “Un-American Deviant Traitor of the Century” for his/her open and flaming homosexuality and her blatant anti-American propaganda as a backstabbing left-wing moron who hates her country so much as to cheer for its enemies to wipe it off the face of the earth. I seems that the UN Climatologists are predicting Global cooling in 2008. They chalk it up to La Nina in the Pacific, a natural phenomenon. They expect the Earth to start ‘warming’ again when her evil twin, El Nino, returns. The long and the short of it is that they are chalking all of this up to natural phenomena. Certain people can try to keep blaming human beings for natural forces, but it really is rather arrogant and it is also junk science. The long and the short of it is we won’t know for another 20-40 years what the real long term trend is, even if we know then.
By the way, Ted Turner likes to make a fool of himself even more than Al Gore or Jimmy Carter. He only had one marble to begin with and he lost that one a long time ago!
NEW YORK — A new poll shows that more than 80 percent of Americans believe the country is headed in the wrong direction.
The CBS News-New York Times poll released Thursday says 81 percent of respondents said they believed “things have pretty seriously gotten off on the wrong track.” That’s up from 69 percent a year ago, and 35 percent in early 2002.
I am wondering if any of these folks on the school board, the sheriff or the county commission would even score in the ‘normal’ range on an IQ test. And they are talking about bringing Barbara Pulliam back as Superintendant!! Her reign of error is in large part responsible for this mess to begin with!!! I can think for myself and I can make my own decisions. I do not question my own patriotism by not parroting the talking points of the administration.
If you feel that not questioning your government makes you patriotic, then count me out, you can have it. However, that makes you a lemming and weak minded individual. You folks must be horrible at parties or any kind of civilized social event. However, I really think that you are just cowards who would never dream of being so nasty to people face to face… That is probably what is wrong with blogs because they tend to de-civilize people.
Spin the numbers how you will, Devil.
Blame congress if it makes you feel that your point is relevant.
But it’s not.
When broken down (known as seeing things in CONTEXT) the individual Republicans in Congress are still faring worse than their Democratic counterparts.
In virtually every area of the country, excluding significant portions here in the Moron belt.
And it is almost irrefutable that the Democrats are not the Party that is in danger of getting a second consecutive a$$-whipping in this upcoming election.
And I think that is kind of a shame in itself. But that is the reality.
But the GOP is a near total train-wreck now thanks to this administration and thiry years of “conservative” ineptitude, mismanagement, unbridled corruption and unforeseen levels of hubris.
And that helps explain why for the first time in American history, not one single open seat by a political party in Congress (and it twern’t the Republicans!) was lost.
Not one! Shocking! Now that’s got to be one major league burn for the phony conservatives in the GOP.
And virtually everyone I’ve talked with or read believes that the once Grand Old Party is going to lose plenty more seats and probably some more governorships as well, though a few are still too afraid to admit it.
Gawd knows they worked very hard to earn this distinction…
Liberals are NOT Godless. You are an idiot RB.
We are heading in the wrong direction. Your PARTY, and their IDEAS have nearly destroyed this country. You have NO ONE ELSE to blame but yourselves. The republicans have been in power for near EIGHT years. EIGHT YEARS!.
Don’t blame us for your shortcomings. You have been warned time and time again about Iraq, the economy, etc, etc, etc.
You are afraid to look at yourself in the mirror and say, “I was wrong.” You find it easier to point the finger at the troops, Al Qeade, Bin Laden, the Iraqi government, Al Sadar, Iran when all along it was the failed plan or lack there of.
You need to grow up and stop placing your faults and the faults of the Republican Party on to the will of God. You are essentially blaming God for your problems. Do you like using the Lords name in vain in such a way? Does it make you feel more like a man?
AmVet - you lost your argument when you started painting with a broad brush. Calling entire regions stupid really doesn’t get you anywhere. You just proved yourself to be what you are accusing conservatives of being - an ignorant, prejudiced, ill-bred boob. If you call the South the Moron Belt, then you must be including your icons like Bill Clinton, John Lewis and John Edwards.
The fact is that Congress’s ratings are lower than those of the President. Congress is unpopular because when we get down to individual issues, liberalism (socialism) loses with the American public.
I would actually be looking forward to a Clinton or Obama presidency if I did not actually think that the disaster would be next to impossible to overcome. By 2010 the conservative resurgence will be in full swing. 2012 will look like 1932 in reverse and it will take the Democrats just as long to fully recover as it took the Republicans after 1932. You poor, poor fools.
w00t - What has gone to hell? The unemployment rate today is only 5.1%, historically low and considered ‘full’ employment, still. This nation is at war. We would be at war whether or not a Republican were president. After 9/11, any president would have taken action in Afghanistan. All of the major Democrat figures, including the dummest man in America, AlGore, happened to agree with the intelligence that led us into Iraq. Even Tony Blair, the Clinton’s best European friend, had the same intelligence. Even his replacement as PM is keeping troops in Iraq. Find me some people who are starving to death in massive numbers and whole areas outside of Detroit and Gary, IN which look like urban war zones (caused by DECADES of Democrat mismanagement by the way) and then you might prove to me that we have gone to hell over the last seven and one quarter years.
The liberal capacity for doom and gloom and predictions of Armageddon have always left me cold. The irony is that it is the complete opposite of the attitude and philosophy that made politicians like FDR, JFK and LBJ successful. Today you are nothing but a bunch of Jimmy Carter reduxes. Obama talks about hope and then preaches doom and gloom and that only the government can solve our problems. We cannot be truly great as a nation unless our people are considered great by our leaders. As Ronald Reagan said, government cannot solve the problem when government is the problem. Unfortunately, many in the Republican party have lost sight of this central truth. The government which governs best governs least. The trouble with liberals is that you want to stifle economic freedoms and hold everyone’s hands, regulate all personal non-sexual behavior and then claim that because you are for abortion on demand and gay rights, then you are civil libertarians. You are a mass of complete contradiction.
Cogent response devil.
But you predictably avoided the salient point - the Republican Party and it’s fake conservatives are the ones in enormous trouble these days.
Not the liberals. This is a liberal country and the Democrats have always been and will always be a vibrant political, social force. For better and worse. That you hate those two facts, does not change them.
How many more times must this non-conservative conservative ideology get repudiated by the American voters before its fanatics realize “that dog don’t hunt no more”?
This administration and by proxy, all of it’s fervent fans in Congress and elsewhere, have practically NO credibility with the American electorate anymore.
Even you won’t dispute that.
Any guesses why?
Though your off topic argument comparing the President’s horrific approval ratings to those of Congress is typical. Yet you won’t disagree that the Republicans in Congress have lower approval ratings than the Democrats. It OK, anybody paying attention already knows that fact as well.
And you have no idea who my “icons” are.
That you think you do is pretty naive. Like many extremists, when your argument is shown to be weak you simply try to dodge, duck, dip, dive and dodge. (What a great flick.)
And then speak for others rather than rely on the validity of your own arguments. As evidenced by the fact that you will even go so far as to profess you know things about others that you clearly don’t.
So make up quaint rules about debates and broad brushes if you feel you must, and then equate that to “winning”. Ludicrous.
There is an old saying Devil, better to be thought a fool then to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
Thank you. I’m glad that I amaze you!
Now then, about your post. You say that I cited a “radical liberal professor”. I suppose you say that because you believe all professors are radical liberals, or only those who think? BTW, the author of the cited article is Robert S. McElvaine who teaches history at Millsaps College.
Why don’t you read the entire article? Let me help you, a little. The author was citing an informal survey of 109 historians performed through the History News Network.
Perhaps you are right. Perhaps 50-100 years from now people will view Bush (2) as a great man…a man of history…a man who made the planet better for having been president.
And pigs will fly…..
This is for you getalife…
Washington-Bit by bit, the walls are closing in on Hillary Rodham Clinton. By just about every measure, including total votes, total delegates, and money raised, she is trailing Barack Obama in their pitched battle for the Democratic presidential nomination. And in the most important category where she’s still ahead – superdelegates – her lead is shrinking.
ADVERTISEMENT
Thus far this week, three superdelegates – party leaders and elected officials who can support whomever they want at the August convention – have broken for Senator Obama while Senator Clinton hasn’t won any. It is highly unlikely that Clinton can overtake Obama in the “pledged delegate” count – those won in primaries and caucuses – but it is also impossible for Obama to secure the nomination just on pledged delegates. Thus, the superdelegates will decide the nomination.
Thursday’s stunning announcement that Obama had raised more than $40 million in March, with 218,000 new donors that month, dealt another blow to Clinton. Her campaign has not released its own March figure yet, but said it will come in below Obama’s.
So, can Clinton actually still win the nomination? In theory, yes, analysts say. But she would have to win just about every remaining contest, and then persuade enough superdelegates that she has a better chance than Obama of beating the presumptive Republican nominee, Sen. John McCain of Arizona, in November.
The easiest way for that to happen would be for a bombshell revelation or major gaffe by Obama that would cause delegates, and voters – as reflected in national polls – to abandon the Illinois senator. Short of that scenario, Clinton and her team are fast running out of options.
“She would pretty well have to run the table after winning Pennsylvania convincingly,” says Cal Jillson, a political scientist at Southern Methodist University.
“Convincingly” means by double-digits, he says. Then Clinton would have to pull off an upset in North Carolina (May 6) or Oregon (May 20), where Obama is favored. “Most people looking at the last 10 events or so see a bit of an edge for Clinton, but with Obama having significant places to look for wins as well,” Mr. Jillson adds.
For now, though, the trends seem to be heading in Obama’s direction – even in Pennsylvania, where polls showed Clinton with a lea
Perhaps the most significant issue that has arisen in this presidential race has been the need for white, Latino, and Asian voters to ask themselves the question: “When it comes down to my vote, can I really cast it for a black man?”
Unfortunately, there are some who answer the question with a No! More unfortunately there are too many who don’t even consider the question. They would NEVER vote for a black man. But they only admit this inbred bias when they are among their knuckle-dragging, inbred buddies.
This is the elephant in the room, even more than the issue of possibly having a woman as president. Why? because woman have moved closer to achieving REAL equality than have our black (and Latino) citizens. And that is why so many Clinton supporters say they will not vote for Obama if he becomes the candidate of the democrats (IMO).
By Devastator
April 4, 2008 12:14 PM | Link to this
here’s the rest of it getalife…
For now, though, the trends seem to be heading in Obama’s direction – even in Pennsylvania, where polls showed Clinton with a lead in the mid-to-high teens until recently. The latest Quinnipiac Poll shows Clinton with a nine-point lead in Pennsylvania, a figure that makes sense to political analysts in the state.
Pennsylvania’s demographics – large populations of working-class, older, and Roman Catholic voters – play to Clinton’s advantage. But a wave of new registrations in the state could spell trouble for her, as the Obama campaign has worked hard to identify new voters. “[Pennsylvania] is absolutely critical for her,” says Terry Madonna, head of the Franklin and Marshall College Poll. “I think she wins here, but for the first time, I’m thinking he could upset her. It’s a long-shot, but I see a way. Several weeks ago, Mr. Madonna laid out a path to victory for Obama in Pennsylvania in a column on Realclearpolitics. com. The path is, ironically, one that Gov. Ed Rendell – a Clinton supporter – carved out in 2002 in his gubernatorial nomination battle with now-Sen. Bob Casey, who recently came out for Obama.
Governor Rendell succeeded by concentrating his efforts (and winning big) in his base areas (Philadelphia and its suburbs); winning big in swing areas; and managing turnout statewide, in part by registering new voters.
Still, Clinton remains a strong favorite in Pennsylvania – and thus, her campaign is likely to survive at least into May. Ken Smukler, a Democratic consultant in Philadelphia, warns against reading too much into the fluctuations in polls. “My sense is this electorate is very volatile right now,” he says. And, he adds, “the newly registered voters are not being sampled in any poll right now. One could argue they’re Obama voters.
But he also won’t count Clinton out. And he believes, despite Obama’s money edge, Clinton will have enough to match him on TV in Pennsylvania.
The Clinton team is adamant that the superdelegates will, after all the votes are cast, “do the right thing” for the party and for the country. In a conference call Thursday, campaign spokesmen once again argued that Clinton is more electable, citing polls that show her beating Senator McCain in key states, such as Florida and Ohio, while Obama loses.
Also, the people who gave us Prohibition were also called ‘progressives.’ They were the ‘liberal’ elements in society who wanted to control people’s behavior. They also brought us the 16th Amendment - the income tax. They also brought us the 17th Amendment - direct election of Senators. They also brought us the 19th Amendment - Women’s Suffrage. Do you want to go back and take a more thorough history course. You have a right to be an atheist, but please at least try to be tolerant of the beliefs of others. I am not going out and forcing anyone to convert. The atheistic Chinese and Soviets went out of their way to persecute believers of any stripe. I guess that made them good guys in your eyes. getalife - finally you are getting a taste of what Republicans have gone through since the invention of radio - biased, unbalanced and unfair electronic media. (P)MSNBC is rather unapologetically pro-Obama. This cutting off the speech is just typical of the kind of crapola they are pulling this campaign season. CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS and NPR have been doing this for as long as I can remember. Now maybe you will appreciate fair news coverage when it happens rather than editorials disguised as newscasts. Walter Cronkite did it for over twenty years and then Dan Rather did it for 24. Poor little stupid Katie Courric is now trying it. I tried to watch her a few time, but it was just too painful - I actually felt sorry for her.
Have a good time. The fix is in. Hillary will lose. Maybe she deserves to, but I have to admit that she is not getting a totally fair shake. Ronald Reagan got treated like total crap during the 1980 campaign and still won, so maybe Hillary will pull out the nomination, but she will NEVER be President. Too many people who know her just hate her guts!
Good afternoon bloggers!
This cartoon is out of my scope. Mouse ears, bunny slippers, and a gun?
I rescued a dog last week that had been abandoned near my house and I found a home for the little guy last night - a sweet little old lady took him in.
Anyway, last night I delivered the dog to the little old lady and when I pulled up in the driveway and opened the door, the dog jumped out of my car and took off (I forgot the leash, my mistake). So, I’m running through this neighborhood chasing this little dog, running through people’s yards and the whole time I kept thinking, “I’m going to get shot, I’m going to get shot trying to get this dog to this old lady because I’m stupid and forgot the damn leash.”
Half hour later finally grabbed the dog (who weighs about 50 lbs), carried the dog up this giant 1/2 mile hill to the old lady’s house and luckily didn’t get shot. I almost had a heart attack though.
He’s a huge money pit in lawsuits filed. His quarterly flyer (campaign lit for re-election) costs $46,000.00 annually. His huge billboards scattered throughout the county? the cost of those come from taxpayer funds as well. More bad weirdness with Clayton lawn-sign politics, eh? As Daffy would say, “Thimply inexth-PLICable!” It seems that he is wont to breach Constitutional liberties. What an Achilles’ Heel!
Maybe I’ve just got Martin King on the brain, but the thing to do with tinpot Mussolinis like that is to lure them into engaging in unconstitutional conduct in the most public manner possible. A Gandhian trap. Like, say, getting a dozen people to agree to install anti-reelection signs (something like, “Let’s Get Over the Hill!”) on their lawns on the same night on which little stickers and flyers to that effect go up on poles and walls, etc., throughout the area. (They could say something like “Let’s Get Over the Hill!” [only more clever and edgy]; something that would have people wondering to what they refer, so that they could find out by word of mouth. Also, the signs, etc. should bear a logo that’s beautiful, as in desirable. Extra points for catchy humor.)
Then, you wait two weeks while more matching samisdat goes up nightly, in the hour before dawn, mostly in places where it can be posted legally, and thereafter you provide lawn signs to anyone else who’ll have them. But in those first two weeks the original twelve residences and their dwellers become tar babies for Sheriff Hill, with one attorney watching all twelve households for signs, as it were, while meanwhile cameras are fixed on the lawn signs around-the-clock.
Now that is a “naked little fakir’s” idea of good, clean trouble. Mine too. I mean it simply as a thought experiment, mind you. Wouldn’t want to get you in any hot water. Learned my lesson there! /:=)
These people have not been trapped on a submarine for 40 years, no, instead they are afraid, and are trying to save themselves with elitism. Yet, they grow older and suddenly can barely believe their own youth-restoring denials. They will die soon enough, and their offspring, who despise them by the way, are not quite as desperate to own tradition. I spit, like Naomi Campbell, on our expectations about the american dream, until it conforms with The Dream. The dream that a man once stood and spoke about to wounded survivors. N-GA 10:20 I think the summary overstated a bit. Incurious? I don’t think so – look at the books he reads. The difficulty I see is translating what he reads to practical application (not unlike some university professors). “Tax breaks” – while some may disagree, seems a pretty minor point in the eternal scheme to cite as a supporting reason for “all-time worst Pres.” “Compounded terrorist threat” – now there’d be a great one to discuss – accelerated the inevitable, possibly; diverted resources, surely; squandered opportunities, arguably; effective in many areas, also surely; but compounded? How about “made it a lot more difficult than it needed to be”? But I am amazed so many “librul” professors recognize there’s a terrorist threat!  I’d like to read his book – the title is intriguing.
Thanks a lot for the food/wine suggestion. I’d just read a recipe for coq au vin updated for modern chickens. Did make some killer crab cakes – amalgam of several recipes, way low on binding, heavy on crab. With a roasted red pepper/caper/dill sauce. Worked well.
Just when I think “I’d never vote for a black person” just doesn’t sound real, I go to a part of the country or read peoples’ comments… it’s sad. And occasionally confusing – ask’em about Colin Powell and it’s praise, praise, praise. Amazing.
Baker I saw part of the Ted Turner interview on Charlie Rose. Thirty or forty years, global warming will cause temps to rise 8 degrees, massive crop failure, mass starvation and cannibalism. I suppose the lesson here is, left, right, both sides have their wacko nutjobs in high places.
@@,
The A$$(HILL) one is to die for, but I’m especially fond of the black-and-white booty’d babes. Baby bootay may be a mite kinky, like the TV announcer for Jos. A. Bank—-the nutcase known in my house as The Tickler—-but you gotta love the idea of a little blackshirt getting sat on by babybutts. Parents could brush the wee backsides with egg tempera and sit the little radicals on a piece of poster board for a customized message to Herr Gauleiter. As a spin-off you could get people to knit baby jackbooties to hang in protest from their rear[sic]view mirrors. Ah-HA!
Evidently I’ll never forget the night Buddy Hackett sat down in Johnny’s chair with an exasperated cry of “I’m tho THICK of theeing baby’th butt-th on television!” It was a shocking thing to hear from such a sweet man, but everybody knew he was referring to the Great Diaper Wars, in which Huggies and Pampers did nightly battle with ever more telegenic baby bottoms. It brought the house down, and Johnny fell off his chair. It was the most adorable thing I ever saw Hackett do.
Unto the breach, then, armed with the butts of rifles, but with the rifles of butts!
Hi Bosch
Good job with the dog. Karma will flow.
Company left just in time. Five hours to Battlestar. Cylon 12? You can bet the writers are reading the boards and are gonna throw a curve. Couldn’t take Adama as a Cylon, though. The Tigh thing? I just go with what Shakespeare called “a willful suspension of belief” (looking at a male actor playing the heroine and believing it – no actresses). Razor was chilling. The Cylon lab with experiments on humans… Commander Cain – the relationship with the Number 12 explained a lot of the viciousness (hell hath no fury like a woman. Scorned or not). I liked her portrayal much better than Lloyed Bridges in the original. I’m guessing “Earth” ain’t gonna be “Earth.” Except as a concept. Unlike the original series.
60 Minutes last Sunday – had a segment on people regrowing fingers, etc. Sprinkle on a powder cultured from pig bladder, incorporate the person’s material, trigger the regeneration code (that’s a guess, only way they can explain it) and the growth starts. I saw that and said “here comes the Cylon/Terminator possibility.” Fascinating.
Dusty
Did you see McCain on Letterman? Good on Letterman for the way he interviewed. McCain came off well . Letterman spoke of the “100 Years” thing, McCain wanted to clarify, Letterman jumped in with how it’s been misrepresented. It’s amazing – Politico, DNC etc trumpet “Bush lied” as a mantra. Yet they clearly demonstrate they will purposely lie, perpetuate a falsehood, for base political purposes.
Vladimir Putin, in his first and last meeting with NATO as the Russian president, offers the United States and its allies the chance to use Russian territory to ferry supplies to Afghanistan.
In Iraq? Khomeini (Sadr) caved to Sistani (ISCI).
Bush hasn’t surrendered Iraq to Ahmadenijad. Democracy is a reality in Iraq.
I think McCain was confident in the outcome, and that is the reason for his 100 years comment. The ISCI has worked well with the U.S. against Iran. The ISCI will need America to remain in Iraq to oversee a political transformation.
Things are looking good, and….
Paul,
I hate it when people interrupt my BSG time, kids included. My sisters and I knew not to talk to my dad during the Rockford Files or Barney Miller - unless, of course, we wanted to get yelled at. Same with BSG and my kids - company can be great, but not during BSG.
I saw that 60 Minutes segment. I was actually watching it for the German guy who was held at Guantanamo, but I saw that later. I didn’t make the connection, but that is interesting. I need to watch Razor again.
Speaking of Cain, I love that actress who plays her - did you ever watch that show Homicide? That show was amazing - it came on the same time as BSG, now that I think about it.
I can’t see Adama as a Cylon either, but we can be assured of being thrown a curve. Can’t wait. I need to go to the store and get all the essentials (booze, chips) before it comes on.
I saw McCain’s speech at the Lorraine Motel today - said he made a mistake not voting for MLK day back in ‘83.
Has he ever “apologized” for that before?
I respect McCain, I respect him alot, but I’d like to know if he’s ever spoken out before now.
I think that McCain is genuine, sometimes to a fault, but what he says, it’s the truth, much more than Clinton. So I’m inclined to think he meant what he said. It goes to show that things people say or do doesn’t really matter until they are running for POTUS, then everything gets analyzed to death.
One of the great things about this country is that our people rival even Palestinian street mourners and erstwhile Iraqi Saddam worshipers in their bad acting. Everybody in America, it seems, thinks they’re natural-born Helen Hayeses or Morgan Freemans. “I am not an actor, but I watched one on TV!” And therefore you are one?
Remember when the monstrous Susan Smith went on camera to beg a fictive carjacker for the lives of the sons she’d just drowned for interfering with her sex life? She really thought she could ACT in such a demanding scene. It was immediately apparent, from her utter lack of acting talent or skill, not only that she’d made up the story about the hijacker, but that she’d killed her own children and fallen back on her non-existent dramatic abilities. Not content to compound her unspeakable crimes with unforgivable acting, she recited her story as though giving a reading from a South Carolinian’s social script: an N-word did it. And boy, was he big and fierce.
Or take Hillary Clinton’s latest attempt, today, to choke up a tear while reading an actual script of silly, self-absorbed sentiments about a more formidable gentleman than any she’s ever met: Martin King. Her words could not sustain a Hallmark card, nor even a dimestore one from American Greetings. And yet here she was, demanding that her audience “suspend disbelief” and pretend with her that she can (a) act, (b) act credibly sincere and grief-stricken on cue, and (b) stands a chance of getting the nomination.
Hillary makes Chuck Norris look like Brando, and her performance today almost rivaled that of Jon Voigt in “Anaconda”. She cannot be serious. Therefore I conclude that she wishes to convey to us that she wants the Presidency so badly that she is willing to abase herself for our amusement. And our vote. She’s so unutterably bad an actor that one cannot but wonder what else she’d be willing to do to win.
You can wrap your head in knots over this. That’s why tonight’s gonna be a nice, relaxing beer and pizza night.
Before that, though, I’m gonna look for the soundtracks. Sounds like something worthwhile to download. Thx.
I agree, overall, on McCain. A couple things seem inconsistent (you don’t have to go for ALL the tax cuts…) and at first glance the health care plan seems a bit lacking (Senator: just take what you had in the military and apply it, for starters..) oops, that really would bankrupt the country (value of military health care divided by beneficiaries times US population equals the GDP of Europe, Asia and Mars) - but I like the maverick style and the “up yours” to some of the self-styled power brokers.
Butcher/Baker/Candlestick Maker AKA PoliFore:
It’s crucial that you delve into the inner struggles inside Iraq - be they ethnic, political or religious. I’ve never seen you as one who wants to do that. It’s so much simpler when you ask and answer your own questions.
“Simply” put The Grand Ayatollah Al-Sistani has recently formed a close relationship with Hakim of the (ISCI). Hakim has, for some time promoted a federalized Iraq.
Ambassador Khalilzad has been quietly encouraging the Sunnis to consider federalization of Iraq as it possesses benefits for them. He has cautioned them against making the same mistake that the Iraqi Shi’as made in the 1920 when the Shi’as boycotted elections allowing the Sunni Arabs to dominate political control until Saddam was ousted.
The Kurds already enjoy autonomy but are willing to work with the centralized government in the interest of all Iraqis.
Iran has never balked at a federalized Iraq.
The lone hold out was Al Sadr. Guess what! It seems he’s changed his mind. It’s now something he would consider.
I’ll always remember what The Grand Ayatollah Al-Sistani said to Bush after the initial invasion. When Bush asked him to convey his thoughts on the situation, Al-Sistani calmly replied…
“President Bush, the Iraqi people should determine their fate. You are American, they are Iraqis. Let there be an election. Let there be a vote by the Iraqi people.”
It looks like they may be taking a slow path to a Federalized Iraq. Had to do it their way though. It is their country afterall.
So what’s our mission you ask…….and ask……..and ask?
We stand firmly by their side until the democracy THEY CHOOSE is allowed to take hold.
Don’t ask ME again PoliFore. I have no patience for short memories such as yours.
Bottoms up, and have a great weekend buddy!
