{{{{Fighting subsides in Basra-Urinal}}}}
I wish I could change fonts so that I could make that headline real small and try to hide it, like the Urinal did.
And I didn’t know “w00sie” worked for the Treason times:
{{{{For al-Maliki, who had vowed that he would see the Basra campaign through to a military victory, the negotiated outcome was seen as a >>>>>serious blow to his leadership.<<<<<< He had said the operation in Basra was meant only to root out criminals, rather than any particular political or military group. But nearly all the fighting involved the Mahdi Army, >>>>which gave up little or no ground<<<< and essentially fought the federal forces to a >>>standstill.<<<-New York Times}}}}
Standstill {noun)- 500 Mahdi fighters lying dead on the ground.
Little pis-s pants NY Times reporters, pouting and angry because their newest anti American hero Mookie ran from the battlefield.
You know, the quickest way to get our troops home would be to accurately assess and report on the Iraqi Security Force performance, they did get the enemy to surrender after all, but do you really believe, after seeing this story, the Code Pinkos care if our troops come home?
Why do you libs hold our soldiers hostage to your wormy little political games?

{{{{USA 2008: The Great Depression Food stamps are the symbol of poverty in the US. In the era of the credit crunch, a record 28 million Americans are now relying on them to survive - a sure sign the world’s richest country faces economic crisis.}}}}
If food stamps are such a bad thing then how in the hell can the United States even consider a demokrat president, every one of them a food stamp mongering dimwit?
Well, anyway, I know that^^ story is nothing but a bunch of anti American bullcrap and here’s why:
{{{{Improving Program Access and Targeting People in Need- Many described how much has been done to increase food stamp participation by eligible persons and families. These testimonials highlighted their successes and commitment to continue to find innovative ways to reach needy nonparticipants. Many also commented on the large numbers of eligible persons (with emphasis on the elderly, disabled, and working poor) who are not enrolled in the FSP.}}}}
This is a Bushie administration success, reaching out to the poor who were eligible for food stamps but for whatever reason were not receiving them.
Isn’t it like a POS liberal to turn that around and use it to hate on good people?
~~~~~
Hey! The Europaen Union has been disbanded:
{{{{Associated Press CO2 EMMISSIONS Delegates from more than 160 countries opened urgent talks in Bangkok on crafting an international agreement by 2009 that can slash the greenhouse gases. When the pinkos want to hate on the United States economy, they have to add twenty some countries but when it comes time to hate on the United states for pollution, they count those same countries separate.
Is conservatism finished?What might have seemed an absurd question less than two years ago is now one of the most important issues in American politics. The question is being asked — mostly quietly but occasionally publicly — by conservatives themselves as they survey the wreckage of their hopes, and as their champions in the Republican Party use any means necessary to survive this fall’s elections.
AND
Why does McCain always seem to be surprised by developments in Iraq? “As he launched a tour here designed to highlight his family’s long tradition of military service, Senator John McCain said Monday that he was surprised by the latest turn of events in America’s current war in Iraq.”
The flat-earthers must be beside themselves that not one single government in the world agrees with their quasi-science.
Not one.
I for the life of me can’t imagine why!
Could it be a track record that dates back three hundred plus years where they have been not only wrong about every single scientific discovery, they have tried to brutally suppress the truth?
Could it be that as little as last year, three of the neo-con candidates raised their hands in front of the entire world in response to the question, “Who doesn’t believe in evolution?”
Could it be that these idiotic global warming deniers are the very ones who as little as a decade ago refused to even believe in the truth of global warming (man-induced or not) despite the over-whelming evidence?
No credibility.
None.
Nada.
Zilch.
Now they will watch from the sidelines where they belong…
{{{{It used to be that we could hide behind the Velvet Curtain, i.e. the religious-secular divide. We could say, with the late, G.K. Chesterton, that one of the redemptive features of faith in the Creator is that we are freed of the primal tug to believe all sorts of arrant nonsense. Those who do not believe in God, said Chesterton, do not believe in nothing, they believe in everything. The late Rabbi Jacob Kanievsky (1899-1985), one of the great Jewish scholars of the recent era, used to marvel at the fact that brilliant scientific thinkers who rejected religion always seemed to have a troll hanging for luck from their rearview mirrors.}}}}
{{{{So it was with global warming, until recently. The intellectual formula that gave us solace was simple. People who do not believe in a Creator are living in a world defined entirely by chance. As easily as it emerged in randomness, it could disintegrate into chaos. Their lives are fragile tendrils clinging for support to the slender reed of a world governed by habit rather than purpose. They are only too easily gulled by the soothsayers, the naysayers, the doomsayers. Although they scorn our mercy, they are more to be pitied than to be censured.}}}}
How true.
IThN (8:11) I’d be surprised if McCain wasn’t surprised by al-Maliki’s actions. How long ago was it there was criticism regarding the length of time it was taking Iraq to develop their security forces – and now they launched a major military operation? Some would see that as surprising. Others would be surprised that the Iraqis didn’t consult – not for permission, but to get a more comprehensive intelligence look to counter the disposition of the enemy forces. Some would be surprised that planners wouldn’t account for unanticipated resistance, which would require coalition air and artillery forces. Some would be surprised in a general offensive that included elements our intel told us were disillusioned with al-Sadr. Of course he was surprised. What would be even more surprising would be if Obama or Hillary said “I wasn’t surprised, I was all this coming.” LOL! Sounds like the NYTimes’s cutbacks as a result of falling sales has resulted in the loss of people experienced in military and geopolitical analysis. Sad part is the number who read their opinions, not in the spirit of evaluation, but solely to accept and repeat.
IThN – multiple I’d suggest replacing “conservative” in your “end of conservative” headlines with “neocon.” Now if we could just do the same with the lalaland libs we’d be making real progress.
The Monster - The Hillary Clinton Scandal(s) Collection
Huffington Post Seth Grahame-Smith Posted March 9, 2008 | 03:37 PM (EST)
She has no idea.
She has no idea how many times I defended her.
How many right-leaning friends and relatives I battled with.
How many times I played down her shady business deals and penchant for scandals — whether it was Whitewater, Travelgate, Vince Foster, Cattle Futures, Web Hubbell, or Norman Hsu.
She has no idea how frequently I dismissed her husband’s serial adultery as an unfortunate trait of an otherwise brilliant man.
For sixteen years, I was a proud soldier in the legion of “Clinton apologists” — who believed that peace and prosperity were more important than regrettable personality traits.
And then she ran for president.
After seven years of George W. Bush, America is hungry for change. Big change.
And let’s face it — Hillary Clinton, the party standard-bearer and former White House denizen — isn’t it.
But even after voters coalesced around Barack Obama, handing him eleven straight primaries (twelve, if you count Vermont), she refused to accept the possibility -though math, money and momentum were clearly against her — that the Bush/Clinton Family Band might not be 1 on America’s Billboard chart anymore.
So, rather than step aside and become the hero of her party, she made a strategy decision to go negative in advance of Ohio and Texas.
Not just negative — personal. She cynically chided Mr. Obama’s message of hope. She played the victim card. The gender card. The Muslim card.
She cried “shame on you, Barack Obama” for his campaign tactics simultaneously floating a picture of him in Somali garb to stir up questions of his patriotism.
She accused Mr.Obama of his own shady business deals (the irony of which nearly ripped a hole in the fabric of space/time).
She accused him of being two-faced on NAFTA, when it was her campaign that had winked at the Canadians. She demanded that he “reject” the endorsement of Louis Farrakhan, but remained silent when Rush Limbaugh stirred up votes for her in Texas.
And she crafted the now-infamous “3am” attack ad — which used scare tactics to highlight Senator Obama’s perceived lack of experience in foreign affairs.
Commentary By Rogers Cadenhead
Watching the Watchers
For days, Hillary Clinton has padded her foreign policy resume with an anecdote about a 1996 trip to Bosnia in which her diplomatic entourage evaded sniper fire and made a dangerous corkscrew landing. Now that video has emerged to prove this to be blatantly false, it may be the biggest blunder of her campaign.
Taylor Marsh, a vociferous pro-Hillary blogger and radio host, admits that the senator’s embellished boast about dodging sniper fire in Bosnia was a huge mistake:
Hillary Clinton trying to prove her importance during her husband’s presidency overreached massively and got caught in a whopper on Bosnia that includes tape. Now to be fair, the trip wasn’t completely safe from danger, but no one cares now. We remember her well received foreign policy speech from last week, which included the words shown above, with the video tape evidence circulating today that blows what she said in a major foreign policy speech to smithereens. It’s a self-inflicted wound that is by no means fatal, but definitely foolish.
As I’ve said before, Clinton should have from the start simply said she was her husband’s most valued adviser. That she was there and learned through their back and forth, as well as from her many trips that span 80 countries, without claiming a war story. It was unnecessary, especially when the blowback certainly won’t be worth it. Besides, no one expects a first lady to have the experience of a president. It’s Clinton’s lifetime of learning that she’ll bring to the job that has real value. Hillary’s life proves different opportunities from a man that needs no apologies and padding. Confidence in a life well lived has its own reward, especially when you’ve seen as much as Clinton has over decades of public policy involvement.
Hillary Clinton never should have campaigned on the premise that her experience as First Lady gave her the foreign policy credibility of John McCain. It’s absurd — she didn’t have a security clearance and there’s a voluminous public record of her globe-trotting, glad-handing trips that can prove they were ceremonial and largely inconsequential. WASHINGTON — Sen. Barack Obama has won the overall delegate race in Texas thanks to a strong showing in Democratic county conventions this past weekend.
Obama picked up seven of nine outstanding delegates, giving him a total of 99 Texas delegates to the party’s national convention this summer. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton won the other two, giving her a total of 94 Texas delegates, according to an analysis of returns by The Associated Press.
Texas Democrats held both a presidential primary and caucus. Clinton narrowly won the popular vote in the state’s primary March 4, earning her 65 national convention delegates to Obama’s 61.
Precinct caucuses began immediately after polls closed primary night and quickly devolved into chaos in many parts of the state because of an unprecedented turnout of more than 1 million Democrats. The state party was never able to provide complete results from the caucuses, which is why the AP withheld nine delegates.
The precinct caucuses elected delegates to about 280 county and state senate district conventions on Saturday. The AP awarded the remaining delegates based on results from Saturday’s conventions, showing Obama with about 58 percent of vote, compared to 42 percent for Clinton.
Obama won 38 delegates through the caucus/convention system, and Clinton won 29.
The final delegate allocation will be decided at the party’s state convention June 6-7, and the numbers could change if either campaign is unable to maintain the level of support they had over the weekend.
Obama leads the overall race for the Democratic nomination with 1,631 delegates, including separately chosen party and elected officials known as superdelegates. Clinton has 1,501, according to the latest AP tally.
Paul, all of the enormously hard work ahead and the details of the effort to mitigate the growing problem of man’s best efforts to ruin this planet are of course, not yet resolved. And there will be MUCH debate about how to proceed.
The flat-earth “conservatives” will certainly have no say in those developments though.
That is a fait acompli.
And the reasons are well known.
We’re talking about a group whose “leaders” are motivated by blind adherence to religious mythology and it’s inherent intolerance, close-mindedness and a long-standing, well documented enmity for anything academia, scientific and reason-based.
This is why they will be excluded.
Since you are unable to read news reports about Basra I will try and give you a little help.
After the suppression of an outbreak of violence in Basra(a hub for oil shipments), led by radical Shiites, the PM of Iraq has said the results are “success”, largely completed by the Iraqi military.
Basra & Baghad are calm two days after radical leader Shiite cleric Saadr( who hides in Iran) called on his fighters to stand down. (Tactical retreat!)
To insure peace in Basra, PM Maliki will add an additional ten thousand Iraqi troops and police. The British will keep their 1500 troops in place.
In Basra, peddlers were back at their street stalls selling produce and men were cleaning the byways.
Of course there are political dealings and statements issued but you have here the basics. Be glad that Iraqis are stabalizing their own country. Don’t cry over the imperfections that always await correction in post war rebuilding.
Please, enough with the “war for oil” refrain. As has been noted, we were getting all the oil we could guzzle before the invasion, at prices people were comfortable with. There was nothing more ominous on the horizon than had been for the past thirty years.
If we’d wanted to invade for oil, we’d have picked a country up and producing, with no sanctions problems. Or we could have save a lot of time, taken over Nicaragua and moved our tankers in (most of their oil production, processing and shipping is co-located on the water). Or just built a pipeline into New Orleans. Much easier. But now Mercedes has cupholders. And a line of suburban SUVs and crossover/oversized station wagon models. Profits trump practicality.
Charles Krauthammer mentioned the Basra attack was being conducted in advance of their elections - Dems do it with caucuses, Iraqis with guns.
I’m not sure Sadr’s position is as strong as some portray. The groups that got to fight again are now whipsawed into another ceasefire. His losses, I think, are heavier than expected.
I’ve commented before about the evolution in warfare. Just read Enemy at the Gates about the battle for Stalingrad. Sixty years ago Basra would have been reduced to rubble, literally, without a second thought or any public outcry. In fact, there would have been outcry if it wasn’t reduced to rubble. Now, after each airstrike, Sadr’s forces broadcast “four civilians killed” (in the house they took over to fight from).
Yeah, we are better than they are.
There’s a big difference between:
1) using the desire to obtain oil as a reason to invade an oil-producing country
and
2) invading an oil-producing country and a few years later realizing your actions have had many unintended consequences for the entire region, therefore using the continuation of forces in the region as a means to keep the oil coming.
Big difference.
I wonder about Obama’s complete pullout, though. Unintended consequences abound. An insurgent takeover. An Iranian alliance. Oil prices through the roof, literally, with horrible consequences. Blaming it on Bush a few years into Obama’s term won’t cut it.
What is newsbreaking is to have a politician, let alone their supporters, admit it.
“Lied” was so misused by Bush’s enemies that admitting to any mistake, misstep or error was viewed as political suicide. Now, at least, Hillary says “wrong” and her supporters agree. But still the “gotchas” keep coming. Several lessons, there.
PHILADELPHIA - Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton walked somberly into a press conference Tuesday and stood before microphones. Reporters tensed, sensing something big might be afoot.
“This has been a very hard fought race,” she said. “We clearly need to do something so that our party and our people can make the right decision. So, I have a proposal.”
The tension grew. Reporters shifted in their seats. Was she dropping out of the race? Offering to join rival Barack Obama as his running mate?
“Today, I am challenging Senator Obama to a bowl-off,” Clinton said, provoking relieved laughs from the assembled scribes.
Clinton carried on, making reference to Obama’s disastrous outing at a Pennsylvania bowling alley Saturday.
“A bowling night. Right here in Pennsylvania. The winner take all,” she went on. “I’ll even spot him two frames.”
“It is time for his campaign to get out of the gutter and allow all the pins to be counted. I’m prepared to play this game all the way to the tenth frame. When this game is over, the American people will know that when that phone rings at 3 a.m., they’ll have a president ready to bowl on day one.”
Well, I’m being a hypocrit now, I did call @@ a pretty nasty name the other day, sorry. Like I said, I try to keep it to a minimum, but sometimes I slip. It happens to us all.
Paul,
I watched those re-cap shows last Friday night. I loved it when the guy from the band Anthrax was talking about visiting the set and he said something along the lines of “that was my proudest dork moment.”
getalife,
If you’ve never seen the show, the first three seasons can be rented, or if your like me, I just bought them - yeah, Tricia Helfer is one fine looking toaster!
Andy,
You might like the show too if your a science fiction type - there’s alot of religious themes in it.
Paul again,
I think Baltar is going to be Jesus when they reach Earth, my whole family is hooked, including my sister, and we’ve come to that conclusion, we’ll see! My sister and I always call each other after the show and have our weekly “BSG dork” discussion.
Gotta run! Pleasant evening all!
Paul,
It was an April Fools day joke.
But the bigger joke is another big oil dog and pony show in Washington.
They will do nothing and here is why:
“Obama accused of using false advertising after accepting money from big oil interests :
“It’s unfortunate that Senator Obama is using false advertising to explain why he can be trusted to do something about energy prices. Senator Obama says he doesn’t take campaign contributions from oil companies but the reality is that Exxon, Shell, and others are among his donors. I wonder if they’ll fix the ad.”
Now that is funny.
{{{{If it tumbles forth from their mouths, that means it is the truth}}}}
Trust me, I’ve had so much tumble forth from my mouth over the years, courtesy of many of our finest “in the closet” GOP operatives, that I absolutely know is and what isn’t the truth. Well, sometimes it tumbles forth from my mouth, most of the time I “swallow” whatever “hard” talking “points” the (G)ay (O)ld (P)arty usually gives me.
