Ahhh, some of the “change” that democrats have in mind for us:
{{{{Eliot Spitzer obviously has major issues - and I don’t mean the kind they debate in the Legislature. Only someone with a huge screw loose could do business with a prostitution ring, as Spitzer reportedly did, while relentlessly posturing as a holier-than-thou politician.}}}}
{{{{And all the while, the man who claimed to believe so completely in his crusade to save state government was insanely - it’s really the only word - risking everything, Bill Clinton-style.}}}}
~~~~~
{{{{The KKKlinton campaign immediately began sponging Spitzer’s name from the Senator’s campaign website. New York Governor Eliot Spitzer had to be dragged onboard the Hillary Clinton for President campaign.}}}}
{{{{Now, he’s another headache for Clinton.}}}}
~~~~~
{{{{Some of the ironies are simply delicious. As this press release from the archives of the New York State AG’s office reminds us, on April 7, 2004, then-AG Spitzer announced the indictment of 18 people linked to a ritzy escort service.}}}}
{{{{“This was a sophisticated and lucrative operation with a multi-tiered management structure,” Spitzer said. “It was, however, nothing more than a prostitution ring, and now its owners and operators will be held accountable.”}}}}
{{{{It never mattered whether companies or individuals actually did anything illegal, because his cases rarely made it to court. Wall Street investors abhor uncertainty more than anything else, and when publicly traded companies watched their stock prices crater amid a barrage of Spitzer-generated negative headlines, it was always in their best interests to reach a settlement to put the scandal behind them. On the few occasions when his targets did fight back, Spitzer’s success rate was far less impressive.}}}}

Hi, this is Andy and I’ve got a very special message for all my fellow bloggers and peers at the AJC. As you all know, lately I’ve been unfairly cowering behind and using the screen name “AJC Management” to continue to insult those who openly express their disagreement with my narrow and misguided poltically hackish viewpoints.
I’ve had to hide behind the “AJC Management” screen name because I can dish it but I can’t “take it”, not like a man anyway. When I’m faced with the same pointed criticism that I like to dish out, willy-nilly, to others I uncontrollably wet my pants endlessly and start bawling like a baby. To address this problem I have decided to be recognized by several different new screen names that expand on my recent decision to be recognized as the insatisable “LiKKKoduh”. From now on, in addition to being recognized as “LIKKKODUH” I will also be known as and respond to the screen names of: “SICKKKODUH”, because I’m clearly a “sicko”; “PSYCHODUH” aka “PSYKKKODUH”, because as you can tell from my rants I’m clearly an obsessive psycho who has chosen Mike Luckovich and my fellow bloggers as my latest obsession; “Yuckoduh” aka “YUCKKKODUH”, reflecting what the ladies have thought of me my entire life; “Ickkkoduh”, “Knuckle(head)duh” aka “KKKnuckkkleduh”, because I’m clearly a knucklehead; “Hackoduh” aka “Hackkkoduh”, to reflect my non-existant status as wannabe right-wing political hack; and last, but certainly not least, “Suckoduh” aka “SUCKKKODUH” because as we all know, I Andy Zellduh, loves to suck anything that is right, white and purely republican. P.S.: I almost forgot, I will also be known as and respond to the screen name of “Fukoduh” aka “FUKKKODUH” to reflect my childhood name and what I like to do to myself while locked in my mommy’s basement and chained to the radiator while on the computer hurling insults at others all day. I also would like like to continue to thank you all for your continued support in helping me to deal with the botched sex change. Gee, I hope that Gov. Spitzer will still be on for tonight after he finds out that they didn’t quite take all of my equipment like they were supposed to in the surgery. Lo

‘Exhaustive’ Pentagon-sponsored study finds no Saddam-Qaeda link….. As is well known, President George W. Spitzer needs to resign. It is not a matter of forgiveness, or trying to excuse his actions by suggesting that everyone has human failings. It is simply a matter of hypocrisy. Spitzer pursued criminal behavior relentlessly, using his position as a bully pulpit attacking corporations as well as individuals. As long as he was in the right, he was fine. But now he needs to exit stage left…..

So breaking the law isn’t doing anything wrong?
I believe you’re referring to “victimless” crime - two consenting adults engaging in an activity that has no ill effects on anyone other than themselves. Argument’s used to push for legalization of prostitution, drug use, etc.
Prosecutors use the “can’t pick and choose” rebuttal. Defense that uses “it’s against the law but no one was hurt” lose cases.
What he did wrong was break the law. What compounds it is he made a name for himself by prosecuting those who engaged in the same activity.
Whether or not prostitution should be unlawful is another question. I’d expect Dems would want to legalize prostitution. Just think of all the tax money they could collect…

As I said earlier, I think our country is completely obsessed with people’s sex lives, but Spitzer has harmed his family by behaving in a way, that he knows damn good and well would cause them tremendous pain if his behavior was ever discovered. Did he think he just wouldn’t get caught?
Two. He had sex with a prostitute - albeit it a very high priced one, not some junkie, street w*******, but still a prostitute. Paying someone to have sex is, at least in my book, a universal wrong.
Three. He is a hypocrit. That to me is the only issue. Hypocrisy, to me, is another universal wrong.
I personally think prostitution should be legalized, along with drugs. If you want to smoke crack and have sex with a diseased ridden, filthy w******* (man or woman), that’s your business, and your risk.

Well Mr Oil does have a point. Its the homosexuals that are to blame for the rising price of oil. Ever since the homosexuals were allowed to engage in their deviant behavior they have driven the price of oil to the current price which is right around 110 dollars a barrel.
How? Its very simple. Millions of homosexuals have been stockpiling vast amounts of Vaseline and KY Jelly to maintain their addictions. All these products are petroleum based, which in turn has caused supply problems that naturally lead to higher prices.
God wants an amendment to prevent these perverts from destroying our society and our economy. America needs an amendment to bring us back to the days of 35 dollar a barrel oil.
Do it for the children! Do it for God! Do it for cheap oil!

Bosch: Actually, you’re assuming that Spitzer’s behavior “harmed his family.” How do you know what kind of relationship they have? Of course, if he hid it from his wife, it’s very likely he HAS harmed her in that way… in which case, appropriate action belongs within that family, not with the voters or the media.

Copyleft,
I agree. This matter belongs within the family and not in the press, but he’s still harmed his family. He may not have thought he’d get caught, but he knew the consequences and what would happen if it did.
It’s my opinion that it’s a universal wrong to pay prostitutes for sex. I know that some see it as a way women (or men) can be self-sufficient and empowering, I don’t. I think it’s demoralizing to those who do it. It doesn’t matter how much you get paid, at the end of the day, your job is to have sex with people you don’t know or love.
About being a hypocrit? Well, I don’t know if he specifically spoke out about prostitution, or prosecuted those who have participated in the practice, so I see your point.
I do agree with your assessment of some laws.
I guess I could see it this way, he prosecuted alot of cases, and certainly sent some “bad guys” to jail - Gambinos, uncovered a good bit of corruption, or wrong doing, in Wall Street. It’s all about perspective. Hey, wait a minute, maybe HE’S the victim.

What IF Spitzer was a Republican?? Cynthia Tucker would be having orgasmic fits of exhiliration, sharpening her pens to write her next Pulitzer Award winning piece.
PBS and Bill Moyers would have a grave piece on oh how bad those mean, nasty GOP people are…..
NYT would have a savage editorial talking of hypocrisy and how the little guy was being screwed by the evil, public servant who sucked upto the corporate types, who was in the pockets of the oil companies.
Did anyone see James Carville last evening on CNN, with Wolf Blitzer, brazenly saying he saw something “deeper” in this than what was out there — overtly implying that Spitzer’s political enemies had something to with all this, giving Spitzer a complete pass on what head he used to judge his actions! Disgusting b*d….

This is interesting. They put up a “blog” on something like this but don’t on the two thugs that killed those sweet, innocent white girls that they did not even know? I guess the reason is because nobody is surprised. I am though. I know blacks are good at killing each other but to go out of their way and kill two beautiful white girls? I mean we all know when there is a murder a black did it 99% of the time. Imagine the country without black people. Silly you. You can’t talk about Black people killing white people. It just isn’t done.
Last year, a white couple was car jacked and the man was shot and killed in front of his wife. The local news media would not give a description of the murdering thug because they would need to describe a BLACK man.
I dare not imagine what the country would be like without Black people. I would love to imagine what City Hall would look like without Black People.
The City is 70 million in debt and it is a huge surprise, but not one person has lost their affirmative action job because of it.
What a surprise.
We are sick of it. Want to know how much? Run a Black Man for president and see what a landslide victory his opposition will have.

Bosch - you really are full of it. Please name ‘those on the right’ who have been defended by conservatives when caught up in these types of scandals. To the best of my memory, it was a Republican Senate that forced Bob Packwood to leave his seat - and he was just goping behinds. Foley was forced out immediately. Everyone, and I do mean everyone, has called for Craig to step down. He is not allowed to attend Republican Conference meetings now. Vitter has also been excoriated. However, I will have to say almost any Louisiana politician is almost expected to be a world class hypocrite/dunce - in the tradition of the Long family. Just let me know how the Republicans have defended any of these hypocrites. Maybe I missed it somewhere. And give me facts. The last time I heard a Democrat excoriating a Republican for this type of thing it was Elliot Spitzer making false charges against Bob Barr - accusing him of hiring a prostitute. It was proven false and he never apologized for his slander!

I don’t like Spitzer, but I do admire his work against the wall street crook. That said, this reeks of the feds using the information gathered by the National Security Agency to counter terrorism for POLITICAL PURPOSES. The Fat Bald and Ignorant feds went to great lenths to explain that the BANK reported unusual currency transactions of less than 5,000 dollars. Well banks only report transactions of ten thousand dollars or more, and most of those are just ignored. This reeks of the NSA listening in on Mr. Spitzers phone calls and then matching up his banking records with the phone calls, clearly illegal but being allowed by the Fascist Bush SCUM BAGS, may they all rot in prison for the rest of their worthless lives. Investigate the NSA and the FBI, their crimes in this matter are far greater than mr spitzers, and damage all of us.

Mr. Headcase,
I’m so full of it? Full of what? Wisdom? Yes, I get that alot, thanks.
I’m not talking about the OUTCOME of the scandal, I’m talking about the initial response of the politician, which in many cases, their intial first response is “Oh, it’s a political smear brought on by my opponent.” Tom Delay and Mark Foley both did that among many others before and after. Sometimes it IS their opponents attempt at a smear campaign, and sometimes it isn’t.

Truth - you are missing the point. Most of the third party candidates in American history have been bigger charlitans than the mainstream candidates. The following examples are ones that may or may not be familiar to you: Norman Thomas, Eugene V. Debbs, John Lemke, Henry Wallace, Strom Thurmond, Harry F. Byrd, George C. Wallace, John Schmitz, Eugene McCarthy, John Anderson, and (drum roll) H. ROSS PEROT! Almost all of them kooks. The fact is that Hitlery is a crook, Obama probably is (Chicago political machine et.al.) and McCain is just all over the map ideologically, but is not a crook, at least that has not been asserted.

I don’t care. I didn’t give him “my vote” of confidence. The Democrats in NY State did. He did cross state lines however, so the Commerce Clause could be put into play.

However you are right that that is usually the cry of most politicians when they get caught. That is the only redeeming thing about this situation, Spitzer did not attempt that one, unlike HillandBill who blamed the vast right wing conspiracy for his piccadillos. I also remember that David Vitter did not blame anyone either. He just has taken his lumps. Goldie,
Didn’t get to respond the other night, ran out of time. That was a neat experience you related about being interviewed after the rally.
I’d observed, one thing that to me carries a lot of weight when evaluating Obama: there’ve been questions about his foreign policy judgment/experience/qualifications. Just saw a commercial of endorsement from one of his campaign co-chairs, General Merrill McPeak, past Chief of Staff of the US Air Force. If he’s past comfortable and onto endorsement, that should allay a lot of concerns.

Dammit, that does it, Obama is toast. (Again, as I roll my eyes).
Sorry, but you forgot this part of that article which is right below what you quoted:
But the memo said nothing about the names of potential board members being presented to Obama or the other officials
I went ahead and linked the WHOLE article so the other posters can read it and apply context. Gee, the article isn’t about Obama’s relationship with Rezko although he’s mentioned twice, but rather about Rezko’s trial.
And another thing, are all the other officials who were consulted being accused of a potential crime like Obama? Just curious, the article didn’t mention that.

With the upcoming GOP convention being held in St. Paul, I thought I’d check out the record of their senior US Senator, Norm Coleman (R) as he is up for reelection this year.
Turns out he was quite the wild child at Hofstra but has turned more “conservative” with age.
His voting record is quite mixed and by GOP standards (I know, I know!) he is fairly liberal and quite green.
Yet he has been a pretty good foot soldier for this President and many in Minnesota must be watching him very closely now. And certainly, some may be inclined to throw him out with the rest of the Republicans for that misplaced loyalty. Especially as Minnesota has a long tradition of educational excellence and liberal politics. (they do go hand in hand don’t they?)
So I wonder if the convention being there helps or hurts him.
It looks like his competition may just be Al Franken. he who is beloved by Bill O’Reilly and other Republican “conservatives”!

Yikes! Double-zing. I heard Cheney speak, years ago, was out of gov’t. He related an experience where he was in a small town (Bosnia area), got to the High Street, there was a demonstration. People chanting. His guide told him it was time to leave, not safe for any not locals. He asked the guide what they were saying - it was a variation on “never again, revenge.” Guide told him many there had relatives who’d been killed by the other local group. Cheney said he asked when, the guide said “900 years ago.”
He concluded by saying there are some places we should just stay away from.
I still wonder what happened to him.
The valuable person isn’t the one who knows everything inside out (function of experience) - it’s the one who knows where to go to get the answers and is able judge the merits of the argument - and the people presenting them.

Good on you John McCain!
“Conservative”, fear-mongering scumbags like this apparently have not yet gotten the memo.
It is this very brand of Newt inspired politics that is causing this disaster that is unfolding for the GOP.
If they had any integrity or nads (hat tip @@!) the GOP power brokers would tell King to stfu and to quit “helping”!.
DES MOINES, Iowa — An Iowa Republican congressman on Monday defended his prediction that terrorists would celebrate if Democrat Barack Obama were elected president, despite a rebuke from John McCain, the GOP’s apparent presidential nominee.
“(Obama will) certainly be viewed as a savior for them,” Rep. Steve King told The Associated Press. “That’s why you will see them supporting him, encouraging him.”
King said his offices have been bombarded with calls _ positive and negative _ since he said Friday that al-Qaida “would be dancing in the streets in greater numbers than they did on September 11 because they would declare victory in this war on terror.”

No deal nadless sporto.
The AP found a vast array of pharmaceuticals - including antibiotics, anti-convulsants, mood stabilizers and sex hormones - with unknown health effects - in the drinking water supplies of at least 41 million Americans.
The AP reported that even though U.S. waterways coast to coast are contaminated with residues of prescription and over-the-counter drugs, there’s no national strategy to deal with them - no effective mandates to test, treat, limit or even advise the public.
Now, how did we get to this point in our history?
In 1974, Ralph Nader was instrumental in getting passed into federal law the Safe Drinking Water Act.
The idea was to ensure that the water we drink is safe and regularly and publicly tested for heavy metals and other contaminants.
But years of budgetary neglect by the corporate controlled two parties has eviscerated the law and undermined enforcement.
The corporations and their political puppets have made regulation a dirty word.
And, so, here we are.
Time to bring back some law and order for corporations.

Ah heck, I’m not gonna assemble this puzzle piece by piece. I was stringing you guys along with one article in bits and pieces to test your ability to think beyond the headlines.
The article I was referencing is here.
Pay close attention to this excerpt:
(((Islamic Revolution of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, through pro-Iran leaders like Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, Shi’ite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, Abdul-Aziz Hakim, leader of the Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council (SIIC) and the ——>Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani.<—— These were the leaders with whom Ahmadinejad met during his visit to Baghdad this month.)))
There’s a reason I pay such close attention to the Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani. He has an interesting history. He’s Iranian but has been living in Iraq for the last fifty years. He has some serious dislike for the Ayatollah Khomeini in Iraq. He was the force behind reigning in the opportunist Al Sadr upon the initial invasion. He is highly respected throughout the Muslim world and has worked successfully with the coalition. They consult him on Iraq.

I like this, a wormy pinko that thinks he is above the law gets snared in his own tangled little web and all of the free marketers celebrate:
{{{{Dow 12,156.81 Up 416.66}}}}
Imagine what would happen if we got rid of the whole entire demokkkrat party.
Gee, who could argue with that?

I’ll argue that 200 billion in corporate welfare had more than just little to do with today’s rally.

(((No deal nadless sporto.)))
Well it was to be expected ShamVet for you are NO gentlemen. Never have been, never will be regardless of what you would have us believe.
So be it. You can carry Ralph’s “water” and hope there’s no spillover. I’ll leave you with your chosen candidate. It’s only right.
Now on with my puzzle. Two conservative sites with totally different takes on the Ahmadenijad’s visit to Iraq story.
FRONTPAGEMAG.COM
Townhall
It’s amazing how the conservatives don’t follow in lockstep ain’t it?
I’ve been following this story as it unfolded. Many different accounts.
Liberal media celebrates what they believe is a surrender to Iran.
Bottom line….no picture of Ahmadenijad with Sistani to my knowledge. It would have been the ultimate coup that Ahmadenijad DID NOT receive because Sistani refused to receive Ahmadenijad.
Ahmadenijad made no progress in Iraq. He’s all alone out there and he’s just now coming to realize it. He’s desperate and trying to boost his image. That’s all.
Checking in on the upcoming elections in Iran, the people aren’t too happy with him. His economic policies have left them wanting something better and better is available. He’s doing everything within his power to make sure “better” is not offered in the elections. Something to do with a stupid 12 man council dictated to by the Ayatollah Khomeini.
I’ll see if I can find the article about the elections.

Only in the delusional world of curly economy could the NY governor’s trouble account for the rise in the markets.
What was that? A wobble in the earth’s orbit?
No wonder there is global warming!

and I ain’t no lady AmVet.
Like I said your NADer is Ralph as well he should be.
You and he can “play through” and I won’t look.
Alright this is not the article I wanted but it was just too good to pass up.
the pro-Ahmadinejad group of candidates promises voters a parliament that, according to campaign posters, ——>”feels your pain.”<——
Oh my! Ahmadenijad is quoting Clinton.
(((Reformers say they enjoy the support of a silent majority, and that apathy hurts them the most. To boost turnout, posters of the main reformist slate plead with voters, “Join us, friend. This shared pain can’t be cured if we are apart.”)))
The “Silent Majority” eh? We had one of those in the U.S. if I recall.
We’ll see our “Silent Majority” speak loudly and clearly in November.

By “class” I meant how Obama handles himself when the misrepresentations and nasty stuff start flying. Or as he would assist Hillary with getting out of her chair after a debate. Little character things like that. Blowing one’s nose is a natural event – rather like having to burp. It’s how one handles it. Try a poll sometime – ask the men you know if they carry a handkerchief or not. If they don’t…. get the idea?
And I know you were just having fun. Girls just gotta. Have fun. Like Tiffany. Or Debbie Gibson.

That’s the rest of the story. Money laundering to pay a prostitute? Uh-huh. His wife still found him out.

Or Cyndi Lauper. I was once on a jitney bus in Nassau when that Girls Just Want to Have Fun song of Cyndi’s came on. It was quite the hit with the locals and the whole bus was shaking with the dance moves.
Paul,
Sometimes I think you deliberately miss the point because I’m fairly certain you’re smarter than to think Spitzer set up shadow corporations for wire transfers just to keep his wife from finding out. There’s a LOT more to this and I’m sure Spitzer will be thrilled if he can get this ended with nothing more than the impression that he had sex with a few expensive hookers.
IT(H)FS,
I won’t be here much tomorrow either, but be sure to see me in every shadow.
BOO!!!
