Pretty good cartoon boy.

~~~~~
{{{{One Obama supporter on Root.com apparently didn’t get the memo. That is the great threat to the Clintons, the number of young and independent Democrats who haven’t received the memo about how Democrats speak of the Clintons. Writer Mark Q. Sawyer: “If Obama won’t hit back, I will. Why aren’t we talking about impeachment, Whitewater and Osama?”}}}}
That’s exactly right. Billy had his shots a Has Bin Laden, BEFORE 9/11, and he passed on them.
This is the kind of “experience” we want answering the “red phone” at 3 a.m?
~~~~~

I told you this a long time ago and, as usual, I was right; the demokkkrats are going to lie, cheat and steal until they are rid of the black man:

{{{{Countdown 2008: ROAD TO THE WHITE HOUSE: New votes in Michigan, Florida —->urged.<—- Another option could count delegates that had been nixed because of early Democratic primaries.-Urinal, URGES!, Urges!!! I tell you, geez.}}}}

Making up the rules as you go and unrepresented superdelegates, all designed to keep the uppity black man I n his proper place.

Watch and see, as what I say unfolds.

{{{{When it comes to creating new jobs, Obama looks to government again and still more spending. He proposes to spend $150 billion supposedly creating 2 million jobs building new “green technologies” for which there is apparently no market demand.}}}}

So the government is going to create a demand for “green technologies” and with it form 2,000,000 new government jobs with a budget of “15 billion.”

Huh?

{{{{Hillary’s response to this litany of big government spending programs is to accuse Obama of stealing all of her best ideas.}}}}

An unprecedented expansion of their beloved bureaucracy is all this is.

~~~~~
{{{{Can someone quote me an original idea by Hillary Clinton upon any subject of diplomatic or military interest? The fact that she went along with some of our tough stands in Afghanistan and Iraq just shows she can listen to reason now and then; it does not crown her as a genius. What else is there to cite in support of this putative wisdom? When has she stood out from the pack and made a unique mark for herself with any inspired initiative, save the health-care catastrophe in 1993? Say what you want about John McCain’s positions, but they do show individuality.}}}}
~~~~~

{{{{The definition of insanity: speeding up when there is a sea of brake lights in front of you.-Urinal Vent}}}}

Definition of a traffic jam: Maintaining a distance of a half of a mile or more between yourself and that “sea of brake lights.”

Do your brakes not work, moron?

Did this car “speeding up” crash into the “sea of brake lights” or did they stop in time?

The very obvious that the very clueless are unable to comprehend: If you do not go then neither do the 500,000 cars piled up behind you, mouth breather.

{{{{What do I think is the biggest reason Mrs. Clinton came back? She kept her own spirits up to the point of denial and worked it, hard, every day. She is hardy, resilient, tough. She is a train on a track, an Iron Horse. But we must not become carried away with generosity. The very qualities that impress us are the qualities that will make her a painful president. She does not care what you think, she will have what she wants, she will not do the feints, pivots and backoffs that presidents must. She is neither nimble nor agile, and she knows best. She will wear a great nation down.}}}}

{{{{I end with a deadly, deadpan prediction from Christopher Hitchens. Hillary is the next president, he told radio’s Hugh Hewitt, because, “there’s something horrible and undefeatable about people who have no life except the worship of power … people who don’t want the meeting to end, the people who just are unstoppable, who only have one focus, no humanity, no character, nothing but the worship of money and power. They win in the end.”}}}}

{{{{It was like Claude Rains summing up the meaning of everything in the film “Lawrence of Arabia”: “One of them’s mad and the other is wholly unscrupulous.” It’s the moment when you realize you just heard the truth, the meaning underlying all the drama. “They win in the end.” Gave me a shudder.-Peggy Noonan}}}}

{{{{Second, Obama can’t “test” Clinton the way she can test him. While she likes to claim that she beat the Republican attack machine, it’s more accurate to say that she survived with heavy damage. Clinton is a wildly polarizing figure, with disapproval ratings at or near 50 percent. But, because she earned the intense loyalty of core Democratic partisans, Obama has to tread gingerly around her vulnerabilities. There is a big bundle of ethical issues from the 1990s that Obama has not raised because he can’t associate himself with what partisan Democrats (but not Republicans or swing voters) regard as a pure GOP witch hunt.}}}}

Yep and when he does, which he surely will and has already started to do, it validates everything that the Republicans said in the 1990’s.

Candide - if Obama or Clinton is elected, then the country will survive, just as we survived the Dummy Carter (mis)Administration and the Clintax years. Their ineptitude and inability to actually push through their hair-brained schemes will doom them, as it did in the past. The Republicans will come roaring back in the mid-term elections and in the presidential elections afterward. It will be like 1980 and 1994 all over again. We will survive because we are the greatest and most resilient people in the world because we believe in freedom.

Also, I read here yesterday and confirmed by doing a little research that when election day has been on the 4th of November since 1924, the Republicans have won (and handily) each time, and they have also won the succeeding election as well. So fear not, we shall prevail!

I hate to say it Bill Paul but I would rather have a president who is willing to talk and solve problems diplomatically, rather than be a war-monger. If Obama would be willing to sit down and talk rather than fire missiles that shows he has a brain in his head, and knows it is more sensible to negotiate rather than fight. It says he can use common sense (unlike another president I won’t name). It says he is not willing to go to war killing thousands of men, women, children and American soldiers. If he has those qualities.
THEN HE”S GOT MY VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I see Headcase is still doing situps under parked cars. That’s the only explanation for his endless embrace of the talk-radio lies, in this case about Susan Rice’s comment.

“He hasn’t claimed that he’s been in a position to have to answer the phone at 3 o’clock in the morning in a crisis situation. That’s the difference between the two of them. Hillary Clinton hasn’t had to answer the phone at 3 o’clock in the morning. And yet she attacked Barack Obama for not being ready. They’re both not ready to have that 3:00 a.m. phone call.

The question is and what Barack Obama raised is, when that phone call is received for each of them for the first time, who’s going to make the right judgment? Who is going to make the right decision?”

In other words, NOBODY is ready for that call. It’s not possible to be. The only thing you can ask is, who’s best qualified to use good judgment when that call comes?

Of course, carefully quoting Rice out of context gives the talknazis another handy soundbite to screech about… and for their braindead fans, like Headcase, to lap up and beg for more.

You would rather have Neville Chamberlain than Winston Churchill. You would rather have Charles Lindbergh than Franklin Roosevelt. You would rather have Walter Mondale than Ronald Reagan. You would rather talk yourself into surrender than defend your freedom. To call those who will fight rather than just surrender ‘war mongers’ is really rather inane. Please read a good history book.

“You would rather have Walter Mondale than Ronald Reagan. You would rather talk yourself into surrender than defend your freedom.”

Ah yes, I remember how Reagan immediately launched an invasion of the Soviet Union rather than contain them and pursue diplomatic and economic pressures.

Yessir, that Ronnie Reagan was a TRUE war-hawk, all right—he had no time for thinking when it came to nukin’ the commies! That’s why we have all this radioactive fallout around us every day.

In Headcase-Land, that is. The land where the only options are “fight” or “surrender,” and anything in between (like containment, sanctions, economic and political maneuvering, etc.) is just a code-word for “more surrender.”

And then he chafes at the label Inane Warmonger? It must fit too well.

Reagan did NOT talk to the Soviets for a very long time and he showed them that he meant business by placing missiles in Western Europe and willing to go to the brink. luckovichisadummy, Are you saying there is never a time to negotiate just FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT. I notice you did not mention Kennedy and how he handled himself during the crisis we all know as the missiles of October. When everyone around him was saying STRIKE he played it cool. At a time when it looked like war was inevitable, he did the right thing. Just think of what he avoided, millions of dead, sick and homeless people. He showed what a little diplomacy and style can get you. All we have is an idiot tap-dancing on the white house car port. Trust me I live in the real world, it’s people like you who only know how kill and destroy. You get some kind of sadistic joy out of hurting people you know can’t defend themselves against this country. Iran has posed the greatest threat to this country for years. But I don’t hear you, W or the rest of the republican war machine beating your war drums against them. {{{{Petraeus said, “..it’s been difficult to tell, frankly. We do, with a pretty high degree of confidence, we know that the Iranians continued to train militia extremists, the so-called ‘special groups’ that are supported by the Iranian Qods Force, that are literally funded, trained, equipped, and directed by the Qods Force with help from Lebanese Hezbollah. And you may recall, we captured the deputy commander of Lebanese Hezbollah Department 2800. We captured the head of the special groups. We’ve captured other very senior leaders in those organizations in recent weeks. There’s no question but that that training continued until very recently.}}}}

McBushie will give Iran a little of the old “you reap what you sow” by bombing these as-sholes like they so desperately need to be.

It should be a national priority to destroy Iran’s ability to kill American soldiers and Free Iraqi’s and we are not going to do that by running from Iraq like a bunch of spineless Cowards.

No I wasn’t surprised at all. But my reply is always the same - he picked the wrong cowboy to screw with.

That anyone here may choose to write like a juvenile delinquent is their choice.

But one thing I will not tolerate is to be intentionally misrepresented. By anyone. Ever. In this case, by one of the more rabid, whose writings appear to be a peculiar mixture of insult-filled diatribes and completely inane and unsubstantiated and unprovable opinions as facts.

C’est la vie.

But as I do not attempt to put words in other’s mouths, I require the same of them.

Further, some goofy analogy with Abraham Lincoln was later attempted but was so far off the point as to be ridiculous.

My point, my ONLY point, easily inferred, was that Chambless is a gutless lying POS for portraying a highly decorated combat veteran, Max Cleland, as lacking courage, when if ANYONE’S is in doubt, it’s his isn’t it?

I grew up in a crazy fundamentalist church (until I was around 12)- and was told what, when, and how to think, never ask why, and if I didn’t, then I’d go to hell. Those crazy people had me so scared and anxious that I had to go to therapy for a couple of years just so I could sleep at night without fear that the rapture would come while I was asleep and I’d be left on Earth with demons and the AntiChrist. I had some serious issues about religion back then (and now)!

I also love when mistaken assumptions are made - like, for example, you support universal healthcare, so you must be a socialist! Oh yeah, like that makes sense.

Bosch, I have read with some interest your references to your religious past and present (and your wife’s).

Sadly, I believe yours is a VERY common story in this country.

Ironically mine is almost the opposite. Both of my parents were raised under strict, even oppressive, religious parents. My mom, Jewish and my dad, Church of Christ. Both rebelled and had no use for the dogma the rest of their lives. I was never exposed by them to ANY gods.

When I was 15 or so I met a very charismatic Baptist preacher, and was soon up to my eyeballs in Jesus Fever! It caused great strife in my family, I can tell you!

Fortunately two years later I was in the military and began a new more “earthly” adventure!

No regrets, but I have searched and questioned this matter my entire life and found Christianity, Judaism, whatever to all be sorely lacking as the source of my reason for being or even my ethos.

Bosch your point about Saxby’s supporters is a very good one.

I know I hammer on many public figures, particularly Bush, Cheney, etc…

But it is not with malice.

But IF there is one man I find truly despicable it IS Chambless.

And your point attests to a state with such numbers of the “faithful” that they elected Saxby’s kindred spirits - Newt Gingrich and Bob Barr.

I have found them all to be an embarrassment for the Peach State.

Great point, Apocalypse! I really enjoy your intuitiveness!

There is no doubt when I was young I framed many of my my ideas in the context of the examples I saw. (i.e. the rich guy in town was a b@stard, ergo rich people must all be b@stards.)

As I matured I very much moved away from this constraint, but nonetheless watched VERY closely those around me.

And though many were not, sadly, SOME of my original suspicions were accurate. (BTW I too had a couple of horrible, IMHO, chemistry teachers but it did not deter my fondness for the sciences at all!)

I’m not saying I’m correct on these matters, Apocalypse. I’m just saying NO One else is either. Or at least, no one can be sure, no matter how much they protest otherwise…

AmVet,

I believe that the media plays a huge role in our “demonification” of certain groups of people. When was the last time you saw a rich guy who wasn’t a bast@rd in a movie? The poor down to earth guy always gets the girl. I wouldn’t have a problem with that if it were realistic.

A wise man by the name of Michael Corleone once said, “This contempt for the rich is just a trick by the rich to keep the poor without it.”

Hollywood demonizes rich folks because it is mostly poor/not so rich folk who buy their tickets. Meanwhile, they become richer as we feel better.

Amvet,

You just made me laugh because the other Bosch and I have always said that the only way our kids could rebel into something we couldn’t tolerate (and I mean this lightheartedly, not as me being intolerant here) are fundamentalist Jesus freaks.

My mom saw what was happening to me, among other things, and got my sisters and I out. It got to the point where I seriously couldn’t sleep at night and it had some pretty ill -affects on my health - a small kid-size nervous break down if you will.

My dad is agnostic, and he didn’t like us going there anyway.

I agree with you, religion has very little to do with what shapes me - ethos, good word, haven’t seen that one in a while.

You know what is scary about Bob Barr? He actually makes a little sense now - alot more than he used to. I read this columns and I agree with alot of what he says. He exagerates some, but he’s mellowed out. He was my parents representative during his time.

Ralph,

What do I think of religion? Got a few hours? It took me a very long time to come back to it, but I did, sort of. I think that religion is a great thing for a lot of people. I think there are many religious organizations that do very good work, and I commend them. I think there are more Christians than not, that haven’t a clue about who Christ was and what he taught. The more religious fervent a person is, it seems to me, they lean more towards Paul’s teachings - not Christ’s. I think religion provides comfort for a lot of people - but I think mostly it gives people solace and peace about a very scary thing to most - death. I think if you conquer your fear of death, religion isn’t so necessary.

It’s also nice for people who have lost loved ones to think about them being in a nice place instead of in the ground being eaten by worms and bugs. That’s not so nice.

But if you truly love someone, you’ll remember them forever, and you’ll tell stories about them, people will remember you for being a good person, and that, at least to me, is what eternal life means. A loved one who has died will be with you forever in your mind.

But, I really don’t care what people believe - I think whatever spiritual journey people take is their own business and I hope that everyone does. But everyone is different, and everyone chooses a different spiritual way, so let them be.

I don’t think many people acutally THINK about religion, and when you start to actually think about it, and learn some of the historical context, etc. there are alot of things that just don’t make any sense, at least to me.

But, hey, I’m all for religious freedom, just don’t force yours on me - or tell me I’m wrong, or NEVER what, when, or how to think.

All those terms do is let the world know that we’re not muslims or Jews. They speak nothing of the relationship we are to have with each other or with God.

I am a follower of Christ which is to say I strive to be like him and do as he has demonstrated we are to live.

I’m not trying to trivialize the effects on people who’ve lost loved ones, not at all, sorry you took it that way. I think those effects are a huge part of life - no one is ever the same after they’ve lost someone.

I’ve said before that I don’t believe in heaven and hell, I believe that a person’s spirit lives in those that are alive. I could be wrong, but I don’t think Jesus talked about heaven and hell very much and I don’t think he gave a definite description of what heaven is and isn’t, but I like to think about it that way, as in not a tangible place.

Apocalypse, Again, not to make fun here, but here’s some problems I’ve always had with heaven and hell.

Heaven: what are you going to do for eternity up there? Gaze at God’s wonder? That makes God seem a little arrogant, and I don’t like to think of God that way.

If getting into heaven is as simple as you just have to believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God and rose from the dead and ascended into heaven, then I’m sure there are alot of bad people who believe that. Are they going to get in? Wouldn’t that kind of diminish the quality of life in heaven?

Aren’t there some just universal goods in the world? What if you’re a really evil person, but you still believe that about Jesus and God? It just doesn’t seem right that you should get into heaven.

Hell: I don’t like to think that God would torture people for all eternity in fire pits. That just doesn’t fit with what I think God is - a more loving a merciful being.

Talk about hitting the nail on the head but then missing the point entirely.

Allow me boil it down this way: Think of the question that all dimwit liberal “philosophers” will always ask after long periods of their degenerate ponderings- “what is the meaning of all this?”

Now think that there is “no meaning” and we really are just maggot bait.

What would be the point, the purpose?

To deny the existence of God is paramount to saying that the beautiful and life affirming birth of a child is nothing more than hopeless futility.

And it is not a “mental condition” to see the hope and gift of life whenever that child takes their first breath.

It is to understand completely.

What is the meaning to all this? Don’t know, couldn’t tell you. I don’t think anyone is supposed to know completely what it all means. That’s God’s job. I think too many people miss the point completely by trying to search and find the answer to that question and forget to live.

“Talk about hitting the nail on the head but then missing the point entirely.”

But see Andy, this is exactly what I’m talking about - who are you to tell me that I’m missing the point? Your not God, and by telling me I’m wrong about what I believe is putting yourself in his shoes, so to speak, and that to me is simply deplorable.

…But he’s missing the point that meaning and purpose are things we invent for OURSELVES. No gods are required. If you’re so scared that you couldn’t come up with a purpose to your existence, Andy, that’s fine. But that doesn’t mean a god HAS to exist just to satisfy your insecurities.

It is nothing more than that.

Wow, did Bosch just describe my expeprience with religion.

A couple of twists here: One, the church that I was born into and that my family attended until I was around eight or so was all about service to others and family involvement. Almost forty years later, I still have vivid memories of church dinners, wonderful singing, service projects.

Then my familiy moved to a nearby town and we began attending another church; some of our old church family had relocated there as well. At first it seemed like our old home, but more…strident. We were discouraged from going to movies, they frowned upon women wearing pants and encouraged subservience to the males (something my mother transcended rather easily!).

When I was about 13 years old, all of a sudden the church put in a “Christian Academy.” I even remember my parents discussing the fact that there were no qualified/certified teachers, and my sister and I continued on in public schools.

All of a sudden, the church began to split - you were either good Christians and attended/supported the academy, or were Sunday Christians - the in or out crowd, with us or against us.

In the Sunday bulletin of my graduation year, they even segregated the graduating seniors’names - mine along with two others appeared with an asterisk at the end of the program.

There were deeper issues that I won’t go into here, but basically I began my college years and adulthood with the feeling that I would forever burn in hell upon dying, and that my life on earth wasn’t worth much of anything until then.

You bet I rebelled. Later I was able to fire that God, come to understand the difference between spirituality and religion, and really appreciate the essence of Jesus’ teachings and life example - in addition to beautiful, life-and-hope-giving aspects of other faiths.

The last couple of decades have been painful for me to witness -extremism, misunderstanding, mistrust. This week a poster here wrote something to the effect that libs hate/fear God because they can feel the Presence and know it’s real…and I thought to myself how sad that things have deteriorated to the point that someone would truly believe a broad-brush untruth like that.

Apocalypse at 2:30 - question not for me, but the answer is yes.

Bosch,

You seem to be responding to people’s incorrect assumptions that life is just about going to heaven or hell. They’re wrong but that does not negate heaven and hell’s existence.

What are good people? Am I good because I feed the hungry? What if I do that,but starve my own kids, or steal from someone. Classifying people as good or bad is almost impossible if you look at their lives entirely. That’s why God gave us Jesus. The good news of the gospel is no matter how you’ve behaved, you still have an opportunity for salvation by accepting him in our hearts.

If going to heaven was reserved for “good” people, no one would go because what may seem good to me might not be good to you. In God’s eyes: Sin is Sin. A crime is a crime.

As far as hell is concerned, God does not torture us there, the devil does. Hell was created for him. Hell was never created for us to be punished in, we go there to be with the one who has tepmted us to do the things that send us there.

God is more of the police who has to obey the law by serving and protecting. He doesn’t want us to go to hell no more than we do.

I just finished reading the site today. It’s amazing how little got discussed today.

Bosch:

It’s amazing to me this aversion you have to “religion”. I wanna share some scriptures with you, and then ask you to go back up and read your statements on the topic. Notice, how others pile on at your invitation, to share their horrible experiences.

The word of God is living and active. Hebrews 10:12

The word is near you’ it is in your mouth and in your heart. Romans 10:8

And Jesus said unto His disciples, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Mark 16:15-16 (To be damned means to be separated from God or not to have a relationship with God.)

Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. Matthew 7:16

You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Matthew 7:17

Therefore by their fruits you will know them. Matthew 7:20

Tell me, how would any kid seeking to believe, without the benefit of a parent’s example view the church based on your personal testimonial? I just don’t see it happening, and thereby you may have turned away a kid who, may very much be in need.

Talk about “the burning bush”…
