A very important message to loyal AJC readers and bloggers:

Andy Sickozellduh is one of the most consistent and loyal contributors to the Mike Luckovich cartoon editorial blog usually being the first to post on the blog every weekday. As we all know, Andy doesn’t have very much that’s positive going on in his life. He lives in his mother’s basement and he’s on heavy medication for mental illness, he’s having to deal with the aftermath of a botched sex-change operation and he’s chained to a radiation for most of the day while intense under suicide watch. The staff of the AJC and the RNC would greatly appreciate if you all would have a little understanding and let Andy have this one thing in his miserable, wretched life. We ask that you let Andy have the only thing that he’s got left. Let Andy continue to be the first to post on the blog everyday while being rude to our distinguished and talented host, Mike Luckovich and downright hostile to fellow bloggers, namely the very informative and insightful IN THE NEWS and anyone else who doesn’t agree with his narrow and misguided viewpoint. Please, don’t take Andy’s blind Republican kool-aid drinking wingnut pride away from him, it’s all that he’s got left.

Sincerely, The AJC Editorial and Managerial Staff

You know, I have no doubt that the AJC Staff wrote the post at 8:05.

{{{{When she wasn’t discussing policy, she came off like a madwoman on the street, hawking paranoid pamphlets. First there were the complaints about Obama’s mailers on NAFTA and health care. Then there was the Captain Queeq-like paranoid outburst over the order of questions.}}}}

{{{{“Well, could I just point out that, in the last several debates, I seem to get the first question all the time,” Clinton whined.}}}}

{{{{She continued, “And I don’t mind. You know, I’ll be happy to field them, but I do find it curious. And if anybody saw Saturday Night Live, you know, maybe we should ask Barack if he’s comfortable and needs another pillow.”}}}}

Oh my, isn’t she insane.

~~~~~
{{{{Speaking on “Squawk Box” this morning, Zell attributed much of the current economic troubles to fear-mongering and politicking by Democratic presidential contenders Ku Klux Klinton and Barack Obama.}}}}
{{{{“Obviously what we have going on is an attempt to create a self-fulfilling prophecy,” said Zell, chairman of Equity Investments Group and owner of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times and other companies. “We have two Democratic candidates who are vying with each other to describe the economic situation worse.}}}}
Think of all the whiny little gloom and doom “news” paper articles you’ve read over the last 3 years and consider that they are nothing but demokrat kampaign propaganda.
Whose interests does this serve?
{{{{Gasoline prices, which for months lagged the big run-up in the price of oil, are suddenly rising quickly, with some experts fearing they could hit $4 a gallon by spring. Diesel is hitting new records daily and oil closed at an all-time high on Tuesday of $100.88 a barrel.}}}}
Gee, I wonder if we should drill?
How many disasters from the environmental terrorists must we endure before we learn our lesson?
Empty drinking water reservoirs, rising food prices, light bulbs that cover your home with cancer causing agents when they break, mini cars that when involved in minor fender benders are engulfed in flames.
Are we really this stupid?
~~~~~~

{{{{Bill Klinton is dutifully traveling from state to state and small town to small town on behalf of his wife’s presidential candidacy. But the growling and snapping Bill Klinton that the country saw before the New Hampshire and South Carolina primaries has been muzzled and leashed.}}}}

{{{{He is being kept as far from the media as possible to prevent any more of the red-faced, finger-wagging tirades and freelance political commentary that polls say cost Ku Klux Rodham a lot of support, particularly among black voters.}}}}

{{{{The reason the KKKlinton Big Dog is on such a short leash is obvious from polling data. According to the latest New York Times/CBS News Poll, only 22 percent of respondents said they were more likely to vote for Klux Rodham because of her husband, while an equal number said they were less likely to support her because of him.}}}}

Gosh, and here I thought KKKlintoon was the “greatest” president ever.

I guess that’s just more liberal nonsense.

Speaking of idiots…what a huge following this empty suit Obama has. It is so easy to get caught up in ‘Change’ rhetoric. But what does it really mean?

Obama has been criticized for not taking a stand early in his career on some hot-button issues, including abortion: He voted “present” on abortion questions seven out of 14 times in the state Senate, including once when the issue was a statewide ban on so-called partial-birth abortion.

…and Obama doesn’t understand a global economy. So easy to say “bring American jobs back to America” and then enact laws in that direction, but Mr. Obama is also proposing to raise tax rates on affluent individuals, as well as on capital gains and dividends. This would also lead to more capital and jobs leaving the U.S..

This rookie scares me.

Even if we drilled it still wouldn’t affect our oil prices unless more refineries were built.

It’s time for the US to get off of its oil addiction. We shouldn’t ask for lower oil prices, we should ask for new technology. Asking for lower oil prices is only prolonging the inevitable, which is little oil reserves left and extremely high oil prices. You’re only denying the ability for the US to be the leaders in world technology if we do not give manufactures reasons to create new energy sources, new cars, or the ability to create new jobs for the future. Why are we letting something from the 19th century drive the technology and economy of the 21st century?

It’s time we moved on to bigger and better things or one day China and India will have that breakthrough, while we’re left in the dust beholden to yet another country for our energy needs.

Unless, you like supporting Middle Eastern country with ties to terrorism with the oil revenue you send overseas.

The “hits to the face” and the “body blows” just keep on “piling up” for the he/she blogger formerly known as Andy in…

“WingNUTS XXX Vol.2, A (G)ay (O)ld (P)arty Orgy” starring the honorable Reverend Ted Haggard, a gay marriage opponent who loves smoking meth while receiving “messages” from gay prostitutes. Also stars Idaho Senator Larry Craig, who likes to play games of “footsie” with total strangers in public airport mens’ restrooms and who could forget the honorable former Congressman from Florida, Mark Foley, who liked to help “break-in” the teenage male congressional paiges on Capitol Hill. Also stars the object of their overbearing and strong-armed right-wing “affection”, Andrea R.W. Sickozellduh in role of total sexual submission! “WingNUTS XXX Vol.2, a (G)ay (O)ld (P)arty Orgy” is Rated XXX for graphic sexual scenes including bloodplay (that ain’t right-wing kool-aid!), total sexual domination, rear-end fisting, fireplay, whips, chains, sex-toys, etc. “WingNUTS XXX Vol.2, a GOP orgy” is not viewing for the faint of heart. mm: I have no objections to new innovation. What I object to is the fact that government is forcing untried and wasteful technology on the private sector without any considerations for energy costs. The American family does not need to be saddled with a government surcharge just so that the environmental terrorists can feel good about themselves.

Hi, it’s me, Andy and I’m blogging this morning to make some very important annoucements about the direction that I want to take in my personal and political life. As you noticed, I now go by the name of “LICKODUH” I will no longer go by the name of “Luckoduh” while posting on AJC blogs. This name change coincides with the recent name change in my personal life from “Andy” to “ANDIE” and I would GREATLY APPRECIATE it if you all would refer to me as either “LICKKKODUH” or “ANDIE” when either talking directly to me or talking about me on any AJC blog. As part of these changes to my personal and political life, I also recently joined the Log Cabin Republicans to reflect the change in the direction and reality of my personal social life and “exploits”. As you all have heard by now, I recently underwent a sex-change operation that didn’t go quite as planned and ended up being “incomplete”, meaning the physical vestiges of my past life as a wannabe red-meat, red-blooded GOP American male are still with me as I speak. As a result of the changes in my personal life, I will make every attempt to be more sympathetic of the daily issues that affect minorities and the homosexual, gay, lesbian and transgendered communities. I thank everyone who has shown me their unconditional love and support and stuck (no pun intended) by me during this difficult transition in my personal and political life.

Jim asks if there is media bias for Obama.

Duh, when CNN reads a Peggy Noonan hit piece attacking President Clinton on the air, it is very obvious.

Clinton obviously crushed Obama in the debate but the corporate media spun it Obama won. They don’t even bother trying to hide it anymore like gop being corporate w-hores. Then they will turn on Obama and help elect McInsane the corporate candidate.

Should be fun next week on the Rezko trial and they will spin it like the lobbyist lover McInsane Times story and blame Rezko.

And people will swallow all this crap like they do with w’s lies. Half of America got punked with Obama, are dumbed down by the media and very gullible just like the RWingnuts.

Then we have the liberal left blogs like Daily Obama and the Obama Post. They have thrown away all credibilty they have established for Obama bias. You see, you cant have a dozen landslides across a vastly diverse, widely separated region of space without there being a tectonic shift in the grassroots on very fertile geo-political grounds.

It was a mathematical certainty a month ago. But America knew it before me, and I bow to America for knowing itself better than I know myself, and together with Obama as president we will make the quantum leaps forward in truth, in justice, and in the global realization that mankind is one and the planet is very small, and who are we to stop billions of people from being themselves too?

Our strategic interests cant be translated as America against the world or we’ll destroy ourselves. (see the long national nightmare that is Bush/Cheney)

It will take a little time to undo Bush/Cheney, you know. Dont expect Obama to take the oath and then all of a sudden oil is back to 11 dollars a barrel, or collateral babies in Iraq stops, or the FBI and the CIA stop hunting for porn surfers on the internet instead of terrorists in caves. No, it’ll take time.

Then there’s the tiny little pesky problem, and I hesitate to bring it up, actually I’m loathe to mention it, forgive me for ruining your near-snowday atlanta, but there is the very miniscule almost unnoticable problem about the…..kurds. I dont think Bush has ever uttered the word kurd. I dont think he dares, because he’s too frightened that he’ll mispronounce it.

the kurds are the key to the planet. Google the kurd’s history. Read for 2 minutes. you’ll know what’s dead ahead for the planet.

Andy goes off again about ANWR. How many times do you have to repeat these false statements?

From the cia fact book, oil production

and oil consumption

This is not a prodcution problem, it is a consumption problem, please stop saying that drilling a few million barrels out of ANWR is going to fix the problem. There needs to be a massive conservation effort to stem the oil disparity. I think it needs to start with diversified car engines, using more battery powered cars so production can be shifted from the pump to the grid. It would be easier to create new clean coal, nuclear, wind and solar than it would be to make a 100mpg gas engine in a car people would feel safe in.

Several times I heard that Obama voted for the energy bill and that Hillary voted no. The $4 a gallon gas is due to the war in iraq, the sanctions against Iran and the threat level of the persian gulf. All these factors reduce supply and confidence and raise prices.

Opec does not cut prices. It can try to increase or keep stable production, but does not set prices.

Can you read? We produce 8 million barrels a day and consume 20 million. Get that. If we double production we would still be 4 million barrels a day short. The problem is that we cannot double production because we do not have the reserves in the ground. There is not enough oil. Two sides to the equation, we cannot increase production to match consumption, therefore we would have to decrease consumption which we can do. At some point, you need to get in touch with reality.

Luckovichis a head case,

here are the proven reserve numbers

See, the US is all the way down there at number 12, behind Canada, Saudi arabia, Iraq, Iran… and on and on. We do not have the reserves to produce as much as we consume. Nice job going right to playing on fear of some dark world though to justify doing nothing aside from drilling more. That does not fix the problem. There needs to be a shift in the way we think about energy and consumption.

Crop prices are rising in a large part due to the falling dollar, this happens in waves. The most fungible and easily transported commodities will rice first, like metals and oil, followed by foodstuffs like wheat, rice, meats and fish. This is more a product of inflation than of an increase in ethanol production. While ethanol is a good idea, it will not fix our oil consumption problem.

By @@

February 27, 2008 1:55 PM | Link to this

I’m shocked that liberals would be promoting world hunger with their “feel good” policies on alternative fuels. We should be promoting domestic drilling while we think this thing through rationally.

Americans, who can mainly afford it, are paying more for food these days, but as a new U.N. report reminds us, there are poor people around the world who can’t afford the rising prices.

They are going hungry, are rioting in some countries ― are even resorting to eating mud cookies in Haiti ― and maybe you are wondering why. Ethanol, that’s why. No, this outrageous U.S. boondoggle ― in which you convert corn into a biofuel at no decipherable advantage to the atmosphere or much of anything else except a handful of special interests ― isn’t the only reason for the price increases.

So powerful is this force that it has helped reverse a steady food-price drop of some 75 percent over the past three decades, according to The Economist. It has also caused experts to scuttle predictions of declining hunger worldwide.

Published reports tell us of two Minnesota professors who once were saying the number of people on the edge of starvation would go from 800 million to 625 million by 2025. They are now saying the number will go up to more than 1 billion by that year.

Tote up the impact of ethanol and other factors, and what you get is the recent U.N. report telling us that a 40 percent boost in food prices this past year is helping to keep stomachs nearly empty in such lands as Pakistan, Egypt, Yemen, Indonesia and Mexico.

Some farmers like it, and investors in ethanol operations like it, and you can score political points by cheerleading for what benefits these interests. Some do.

President Bush is completely behind this charade, and Barack Obama, self-advertised as being free of special-interest influence, nearly swoons over it ― his home state of Illinois is a big ethanol producer.

Owing to presidential caucuses in another ethanol state, Iowa, Hillary Rodham Clinton and John McCain went from being rightly skeptical to being at least qualified boosters.

Taxpayers, consumers, the environment and the world’s poorest people deserve more. They deserve a debate in this campaign season about ethanol.

World oil reserves

For all you ignorant wingnuts, here’s the math.

US reserves - 21.4 billion barrels US production - 8 million barrels per day US consumption - 20 million barrels per day

Even if the US raised it’s production up to the consumption level, we would only have a 3 year supply (based on our known reserves).

Canada is second in the world in reserves but would only last us 24 years, and we would still be buying from a foreign country.

At the current world consumption pace, there are only 44 years of known oil reserves left in the world.

The only answer is a reduction in consumption.

{{Obama departed from his regular stump speech today in Columbus to respond to John McCain.

“John McCain may like to say he wants to follow Osama bin Laden to the gates of Hell, but so far all he’s done is follow George Bush into a misguided war in Iraq,” he said.

Obama was responding, incredulously, to McCain’s suggestion that he’s unaware of the presence of Al Qaeda in Iraq, which the Arizona Senator said earlier today was apparently “news” to Obama at last night’s debate.

“McCain thought that he could make a clever point by saying, ‘Well let me give you some news, Barack, Al Qaeda is in Iraq,’ like I wasn’t reading the papers, like I didn’t know what was going on.” Obama said, leaning into his developing McCain impression.

He then described the context — a hypothetical question from Tim Russert — and said, “First of all, I do know Al Qaeda is in Iraq, and that’s why I said we should continue to strike Al Qaeda targets.”

“I have some news for John McCain,” Obama continued, “That’s there was no Al Qaeda in Iraq until George Bush and John McCain” began the Iraq war, he said.

“They took their eye off the people who really were responsible for 9/11,” he said.}}}

If McCain wants to mock Obama, perhaps he should pick a topic in which a) Obama is mistaken; and b) McCain knows what he’s talking about. This one fails on both counts. What’s striking is that McCain doesn’t even seem aware of how foolish his attack really is.

Most thoughtful people seem to believe we have two problems in this area. One is the possibility that we’re dealing with a finite resource and the other is the geopolitical entanglements we get ourselves into.

Both have merit, but I don’t think the ONLY answer is to reduce consumption. We solve problem number one in the long term with alternative energy sources. While we’re solving problem 1 in the long term we can solve problem #2 in the short term by exploiting our own reserves.

Luck,

Good catch on Zell saying that the bad economy is all the Democrats fault for talking about it. I wonder why they don’t understand that the only reason we had a good economy in the 1990’s was because the GOP all said that Clinton was doing a great job with the economy? Reagan’s economy was good because no lib ever said it wasn’t. I think that this effect on the economy is called the “I’d like to blame something other than my own stupidity and incompetence, so it’s your fault effect.” I think they teach it in the MBA programs at Harvard and Yale.

Of course, it was the GOP’s fault that Clinton lied about the bj’s because the Republicans were always saying he was a liar. Self-fufilling prophecy again.

I mean it makes a lot of sense doesn’t it, just to say that when you say that things outside of your control are a certain way then it has an effect just because you said it? Like Obama saying that Iraq would not go well if we invaded. If he’d just would’ve been positive I doubt that the Iraqis would have even shot at us. Cheney’s upbeat approach was nuetralized by the negativity of Obama. We probably would have never lost even one soldier if we all just said “Heil Bush.”

I just hope that no Democrats start saying that the sun rises in the West. That would really screw everything up.

So much talk of “change” in the election, yet I don’t think most people really do want change. The technology that will begin economic transition either exist already or rests in American ingenuety. It’s time for a paradigm shift in how we see ourselves.

First of all, I don’t profess to be an expert. I have simply done a lot of reading on the subject. But the consensus observed is that the only energy form with any hope of supplanting fossil fuels is solar.

As I understand it, the world’s energy needs could be met with 1/10 of one percent of the solar energy that strikes the Earth each day. That’s one-one thousandth if my math serves me correctly.

As a near term fix read about jatropha. Jatropha grows in tropical and semi-tropical regions on marginal soils (not suitable for agriculture). Jatropha is poisonous and is not a food crop. It’s oil, which can be run in diesel and jet engines with very little if any refining, is harvested at 1,000 gallons per acre in mature fields. India is planting jatropha like crazy as are many other tropical regions.

Again, I think the only real long-term answer is solar which is carbon-free.

It’s kind of interesting, in a nostalgic sort of way.

The last time gold was this high was during Jimmy Carter’s Presidency.

The last time gasoline was this high was during Jimmy Carter’s Presidency.

During Jimmy Carter’s Presidency there was stagnation and high inflation (stagflation).

Didn’t the US have Iran issues during Jimmy Carter’s Presidency?

I guess the little Bush went to the Carter school of “How To Lead a World-Dominant Democracy Into Irrelevance”.

Some Arabs warn Tehran and Damascus that their continued provocation and explosive policy in Lebanon will have negative consequences for Syria, Iran and their allies in Lebanon. They are warning Damascus that its excesses may eventually undermine its own interests, and they are telling Tehran that they are opposed to an American or Israeli military strike against Iran but that the ongoing actions in Lebanon and Palestine may eventually trigger such a strike.

The million-plus demonstrators who took to the streets on Hariri’s third anniversary gave life and determination to preventing the abortion of the unique democratic path in the Arab world. It is a new delegation by the people to the state, the government headed by Fouad Siniora, the parliamentary majority, and the pro-government leaderships which refuse to allow the rule of pro-Damascus and pro-Tehran militias from taking over no matter how much of a Lebanese identity they claim to have. It is reassuring to find Shiite leaders in Lebanon who are willing to raise their voice and make it clear to Hezbollah that it has no right to dominate and control the Lebanese Shiite voice that remains independent from Iran, even if these leaders have not organized themselves to break this dominance.

The story behind the Gulf of Mexico oil story: lots of turmoil in the Mexican gov’t. Pres want to bring in foreign (US) companies – only ones with the technology to recover the oil. Powerful families and the state-run oil company are opposed. Would change the structure of this state-owned enterprise – which is the main source of funding for their social welfare programs. Other accessible sources are due to play out quite soon. Plenty of demagoguing and rhetoric there. Money and power. There you have it, again.

“Both have merit, but I don’t think the ONLY answer is to reduce consumption. We solve problem number one in the long term with alternative energy sources. While we’re solving problem 1 in the long term we can solve problem #2 in the short term by exploiting our own reserves.”

For sure. But there are a lot of single-issue, very well funded special interest groups who want no domestic production, period. And only one or two alternatives considered. Their variation of “just drill for our oil and do nothing else” is “do the one or two things I say, in someone else’s state, and nothing else.

BTW – after the scandals and probs with CA not having enough electricity and buying it from TX – you’d think maybe the Californians would do a little energy self-sufficiency and start building a production grid, right? Yeah, right. They’ve done zilch in that regards. They do some good things with controlling pollution, but as far as taking care of themselves or expecting someone else to….

Modern warfare is fluid. The circumstance under which certain fronts develop do not remain static – new realities develop. Such is the case with Iraq.

I heard Pres Clinton make a very detailed, concise case for Hillary vs Obama. I left wondering why we don’t hear the same from her. Or hear it clearly reported.

I listened for a gasp but didn’t hear one when he said:

There have been gains in Iraq. The Iraquis have held elections, formed a government, adopted a constitution. They have only two big tasks remaining: oil revenue sharing and power sharing. But the presence of US troops as currently configured permits them to dither. Hillary wants to consolidate them in the north and use to hit al Qaeda as needed. That will bring pressure to bear on the Iraqi govt.

Also said a rapid withdrawal (didn’t mention Obama) would be a big problem.

Also said, very clearly, there is a War on Terror. al Qaeda are enemies to America - but the battleground should be Afghanistan. Then he developed that theme.

Pretty amazing guy. Then again, we’ve had many Presidents who’ve been very effective in certain areas while their personal lives have been problematic. Some Senators, too. And a couple of Congressmen. And governors, don’t forget governors.

That’d be sheer speculation.

BUT: Putin has a jihadist problem. Within his borders. Remember the line from the admiral (Fred Thomson character) in Hunt for Red October “Son, the Russians don’t take a d*mp without a plan.” I’ve long thought that’s an area where Putin’s doing a high-wire act. But there may be a few people holding the wire who are also holding wire cutters.

RW I got that. Just wasn’t clear in my musing.

Ever wonder how different media and politics would be if reporters, opponents and hacks asked “excuse me, do you mean such and so” rather than launching “gotcha!”?

Like this from factcheck.org

Obama twisted the words of Republican John McCain, saying he has suggested “war” might “go on for another 100 years.” McCain expressly said otherwise. He said a 100-year presence would be acceptable in the absence of violence against U.S. troops, and later said “the war will be over soon.”

Even having read that, some here will continue the “McCain want War” chant.

Oh well. Who says you can’t count on anything any more?

Paul,

Now you’re asking journalists to be journalists. Do you really think that’s ever going to happen when the #1 response to the question of why are you here when asked to journalism students is “to make the world a better place?”

I part company with you there. All it takes is 4 years to usher in things Universal Health Care, A few more Ruth Bader Ginsburg types on the Supreme Court, raise taxes on the so-called “rich”, and take a cut and run approach to the war on terror.

We could never recover or it could take decades. As loathesome as McCain is in many respects, he’s still a damned sight better than Obama who puts the O in sOcialist.

By RW-(the original)

February 27, 2008 8:09 PM | Link to this

Buy Danish,

McCain would probably let Ted Kennedy pick his Supreme Court nominees. The two most likely vacancies would be Ginsberg and Stevens. It would be hard to get more liberal than them, but you could run the risk of ending up with younger libs.

McCain’s strength is on the war and that’s no small thing, but neither Hillary or Obama are going to pull this full retreat they talk about now.

If the Dem overreached on Universal health care and various other Socialist programs we would have Congress back in 2010 without all the RINOs we have now. If McCain is President he’ll probably cave on most of the Socialist programs to gain support for the war and Republicans will be in the wilderness for the rest of our lifetimes.
