Geez, is that all democrats can think about is men in bed with other men?
Sicko.
~~~~~
When the Atlanta Urinal Constitution takes a totally discredited gossip column and reports it as though it is news, it says a whole lot more about the AJC then it does John McCain:
Yeah, it has reduced violence on Mookie’s army.
Is there anyone one else in the whole freaking world, other than the anti American pantie waists at the AJC, that thinks the United States army in Iraq isn’t prepared to annihilate the Mahdi “army” at the first wormy little sign of them?
I hope Mookie falls for the pinko propaganda.
Well, I had the most wonderful time as chaperone to Andy’s tea party last night. He, I mean she, Andy likes to be a girl, wanted to wear a nighty with depends, so I said that’s fine, as long as it’s covered up.
She and all the other girls stayed up to watch Auntie Mame and then played mahjong until 11, then they fell asleep on the bean bags in the basement.
I had to unplug the PC though, because Andy kept getting up to check some Comment board. She was all jittery until I gave her some valium, but I think that’s why she wet her bed three times.
Oh, well, girls will be girls!
Look a the World of Pinkos, whining and fighting and there aren’t even any Republicans around:
{{{{It has been said that one should never underestimate the Democratic Party’s ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Both candidates for the Democratic nod, while actually trying to win both the nomination and the election, are headed toward what looks like an unavoidable convention battle, at which each will come off looking worse than they did before.}}}}
{{{{While both camps complain about rules they don’t happen to find convenient at the moment, it is not as if the rules are new ones. If Democrats’ leading candidates can’t seem to figure out the rules by which the party operates, Democrats are in for a long summer of what amounts to nothing more than disingenuous complaining.}}}}
And KKKlinton got “serenaded:”
{{{{Ku Klux Rodham was booed last night when she accused her Democratic rival Barack Obama of plagiarism, saying that he represented not ‘change you can believe in’ but ‘change you can Xerox’.}}}}
{{{{Mr Obama dismissed the charge out of hand at a debate last night, then turned the jeers to applause when he countered, “What we shouldn’t be doing is tearing each other down, we should be lifting the country up.”}}}}
McCain’s environmental rating: 0. The League of Conservation voters today rated Sen. John McCain (R-AZ)’s environmental record. McCain scored 0 percent in 2007 (24 percent lifetime) “due to missing all 15 votes scored, including the key vote on repealing tax giveaways to big oil — a measure that failed by only one vote.” The Sierra Club notes: McCain was the only member of Congress to skip every single crucial environmental vote scored by the organization, posting a score lower than Members of Congress who were out for much of the year due to serious illnesses–and even lower than some who died during the term
In Bed with Lobbyists: Just Another Day at the Office for McCain….St. John McVain has a dirty little secret. The vaunted “maverick” Senator who works tirelessly against corruption and undue lobbyist interest in Washington? Sham. He’s been in bed with lobbyists for quite some time. Why do I say that? Well, there’s this: McCain’s campaign staff had more lobbyists on it than any other back in June. And, after the staff massacre in July, the person he hired to be his new campaign manager (resurrecting his position from the failed 2000 campaign)? Uber-lobbyist Rick Davis. Who is Rick Davis? Congrats on being first with the reference! I was wondering if anyone would bring it up. Just too funny from someone who’s been accusing her opponent of lifting lines without attribution.
Ummm, general question. What’s wrong with having people represent certain interest groups (health care for seniors or poor kids, crackdowns on industries who want to weasel around environmental controls, advocacy groups who want to reform FDA drug inspections, teachers groups who want to modify bureaucratic parts of No Child Left Behind, etc) - otherwise known as “lobbyists” - in Washington? Isn’t it another of those “free speech” issues? And if they’re so terrible, why hasn’t the Democratic Congress yet taken action to ban, or at least severely curtail, their activities?
So exactly how did the Clintons manage to mis-manage all those MILLIONS of campaign $$$? Who are Hillary’s financial managers who allowed her campaign to go broke before Iowa even occurred?
And how many Americans would want another president who spends money so recklessly?
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s latest campaign finance report, published Wednesday night, appeared even to her most stalwart supporters and donors to be a road map of her political and management failings. Several of them, echoing political analysts, expressed concerns that Mrs. Clinton’s spending priorities amounted to costly errors in judgment that have hamstrung her competitiveness against Senator Barack Obama of Illinois.
There have been numerous cases of agents doing roundups of illegals (see Swift Meat Packing) and processing them for deportation. However, many had been here a long time, had kids here - and the left hand didn’t coordinate with the right hand - so the young kids come home to an empty house, no parents, no nothing. It’s a forseeable action, some would say ripe for bad publicity - and the agencies played right into it.
The REAL BUSH RESUME:
RESUME
GEORGE W. BUSH 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue Washington, DC 20520
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Law Enforcement: I was arrested in Kennebunkport, Maine, in 1976 for driving under the influence of alcohol. I pled guilty, paid a fine, and had my driver’s license suspended for 30 days. My Texas driving record has been “lost” and is not available.
Military: I joined the Texas Air National Guard and went AWOL. I refused to take a drug test or answer any questions about my drug use. By joining the Texas Air National Guard, I was able to avoid combat duty in Vietnam.
College: I graduated from Yale University with a low C average. I was a cheerleader.
PAST WORK EXPERIENCE:
I ran for U.S. Congress and lost.
I began my career in the oil business in Midland Texas , in 1975. I bought an oil company, but couldn’t find any oil in Texas. The company went bankrupt shortly after I sold all my stock.
I bought the Texas Rangers baseball team in a sweetheart deal that took land using taxpayer money.
With the help of my father and our friends in the oil industry (including Enron CEO Ken Lay), I was elected governor of Texas.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS GOVERNOR OF TEXAS:
I changed Texas pollution laws to favor power and oil companies, making Texas the most polluted state in the Union. During my tenure, Houston replaced Los Angeles as the most smog-ridden city in America.
I cut taxes and bankrupted the Texas treasury to the tune of billions in borrowed money.
I set the record for the most executions by any governor in American history.
With the help of my brother, the governor of Florida , and my father’s appointments to the Supreme Court, I became President of the United States, after losing by over 500,000 votes.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS PRESIDENT:
I am the first President in U.S. history to enter office with a criminal record.
I invaded and occupied two countries at a continuing cost of over one billion dollars per week.
I spent the U.S. surplus and effectively bankrupted the U.S. Treasury.
I shattered the record for the largest annual deficit in U.S. history.
I set an economic record for most private bankruptcies filed in any 12-month period.
I set the all-time record for most foreclosures in a 12-month period.
I set the all-time record for the big
No prob. It’s the concept that counts.
More serious subject. I was struck during the debate by the backpedaling on a border fence and the shift to “let technology do it.” Of course they didn’t say that technology - sensors, drones, etc - requires a huge investment and ongoing personnel and support costs. While a fence takes - not much. They coulda scored more points - Obama, especially - by saying “even Texas’s two senators, Cornyn and Hutichson, took action to stop construction of portions of the fence. I’m the candidate who will work with conservative Republicans to express the will of the blah blah.”
I wasn’t sure if that was pandering to the audience or a real desire. But I daresay there are more than a few moderate Dems who think unfettered border crossings have serious implications - and who may take a harder look at McCain.
Paul,
Well, I think building an actual fence is pointless. A “virtual” fence makes much more sense because even with an actual fence, in order to actually keep illegals out, they are going to need the same technology to monitor it, and actually keep people out.
To me, that’s the whole point - they haven’t been putting $$ into monitoring the borders - they’ve been putting band-aids on gaping wounds.
But either way, it’s still treating the symptom and not the disease (someone wrote that earlier?). An actual fence or a virtual fence is still not addressing the issue of WHY these people are coming in.
Only so much influence over Mexico’s policies - which seems to be to export their low-wage and unemployment in return for money sent home. Check Mexico’s population and estimates of Mexican population (excluding Central and South America) and it’s about ten percent here. Births of illegals are, what, more than births of US citizens in southern Cal? So while we cannot control (italics) the root causes of the emigration we do get saddled with the effects. Check prison population stats in some areas. It’s sobering.
Make no mistake - look at states like Oklahoma - overnight restrictions on illegals does lead to higher consumer prices, slowdowns in construction. Which isn’t all bad - higher wages for these kinds of jobs is a good thing. If produce, other foodstuffs, new construction, restaurant prices increase, well, it’ll be a short-time jump and we’ll settle in and get used to it.
But it’s rather like environmental discussions - lots of polarizing options - do nothing or very little, make’em all instant citizens, or send’em all back - are not realistic. Compromise is going to have to come into play - and the last attempt at that left us with exactly what we have now.
Doesn’t have to be a wall along the entire border. If you’ve ever been to some of those regions you know it’s some pretty daunting terrain. Other enforcement measures there are appropriate. But when all is said and done, walls are cheap. And effective. Just ask N Koreans trying to get into China.
Paul,
I don’t believe there is really a need for a fence.
First, seriously punish employers who hire illegals. If the pain (punishment) is severe enough, they will comply.
Second, punish illegals by incarcerating them, then put them to work. Perhaps the time has come to create benevolent chain gangs. When they finish their sentences, tattoo them, DNA test them, and send them home with the promise that the next time will be much worse.
Sounds Draconian….just a little, huh?
Bosch, Why do you demonize lobbiests? They can never be any more effective than the willingness of our elected officials to take their money or give them preference. Nobody is making any senator talk to them listen to them, take their money, anything. Our elected officials are the problem.
Ever wondered why nobody is talking about building a fence on the Canadian border? Isn’t that one open too? Is the issue really about security or is it really about mexicans coming here illegaly, doing low wage jobs, not paying taxes, and using services the rest of us pay for?
Paul,
Couldn’t agree with you more, except the actual building of a fence.
Politicians have been overlooking this for years. Companies get rich off cheap labor - we pay less. Still the people who get screwed are the consumers, and settling for it, in my opinion, is find of frustrating. We will have to pay more while our income doesn’t keep up. Companies who’ve made huge profits off illegal labor aren’t going to “settle” for anything less than a continuation of their huge profits.
Compromise and sacrifice from all is what needs to happen, but somehow the ones who have to sacrifice are the same ones getting screwed in the whole process.
We need a revolution - bring out the guillotines! Just kidding. Too much coffee.
Fences may be cheap, but if my stupid dog can figure out how to get out of a very well built fence, a determined person who wants to come into this country can figure it out too. It’s a Jedi mind trick - it’s something concrete to make people feel good - they think the government is doing something if they build a fence!
Let me put it this way.
If I was a pro-Obama site, expecting him to face McCain in the general, and if I was aware of Obama’s pledge to go with public financing, knowing McCain had done the same; and thinking Obama could raise far, far more money for a general election fight; but knowing going back on his pledge would cause problems;
then I’d wage an effort to cast doubt about McCain’s eligibility for public financing and force him to go with private financing. Which would remove my ethical problem and give me a money edge.
But John Edwards, her old college buddy and lifelong friend, not only endorses her campaign but is her campaign co-chair and frequent advisor who recommended that she use those lines!
Oh. What? Have I got the wrong candidate? Hmn.
OK, I’ve got the wrong candidate, but Hillary did not commit political plagiarism because despite Obama’s protestation, and boos from the audience, and invitations from the Clinton News Network moderator to change such an obviously unpopular topic, Hillary stuck to her guns and pressed her point, repeatedly, that plagiarism is a legitimate character issue that bears importantly upon this Presidential campaign.
So she could not have plagiarized John Edwards, see? I was right after all!
She could not have exploited anyone’s grievous injury to buy sympathy votes either. That is simply beneath the dignity of a former First Lady of Arkansas and of the United States, and certainly beneath a U.S. Senator with 35 years of experience in helping others to do things.
If you were losing control of your Presidential bid, and losing the bid itself, and losing donors and “friends”, and losing the only thing that holds your very public marriage together—-if you were losing all these things, and were an extraordinarily controlling person to begin with, you’d have a lump in your throat too. I stopped contributing to national parties long ago. Have checked off the box on the 1040s every year for the Fund.
But for other contributions - I give where my interests align with the recipient. Such funding permits the person or organization to work towards common goals.
That’s a tad different than being a member of a group - say, United Auto Workers who didn’t want the fuel economy standards addressed, or a gun owner who wants no more restrictions - banding together and sending in lots and lots of money, letters, and vote threats.
Just ask John Dingell (yup, a Democrat) out of Michigan how it works.
I used Alton Brown’s recipe for the grits - 1 C milk, 1 C water, bit of salt and 1/2 C coarse cornmeal. Stirred every few minutes for 20 minutes. The saucier worked great.
Was in NY last week - stopped by an old haunt for an Old Fashioned - one of the party ordered a specialty of the place - a Midori Sour! So you were toasted.
The bartender shared the recipe. Shot of Midori (I used a shot and a half) Shot of simple syrup Shot of sweet and sour
Pour in a container with ice, shake a little, pour over crushed ice.
Drink. Adjust recipe. Drink again. Repeat until perfection. Or until you don’t care!
Then, perhaps, we should look to the speech writer. I doubt Obama will blame him/her because that would be passing the buck.
Now I understand why McCain’s denials yesterday were so strident. He was trying to make the debate about the NY Times instead of about his actions. His denials yesterday contradicted his sworn testimony from 2002 about activities w/ lobbyists. Newsweek and MSNBC have the story, I’m sure evryone will be leading with it tonite. Mr. Straight Talk is just as phony as the rest of them.
When conservatives decide adultery no longer matters………. Even if the accusation of infidelity were true, this kind of past relationship is hardly disqualifying for high office anymore, given a series of more prurient precedents. An affair between adults is a far cry from President Bill Clinton’s exploitation of an intern, which involved not merely a failure of character but also an abuse of power.
N-GA @ 2:11,
The person plagiarized does not support Barack. The person plagiarized by Hillary last night is John Edwards, who supports neither Hillary nor Barack.
Moreover, the notion that someone need be the victim of plagiarism to object to it is rather odd. I would object to Mike Luckovich’s plagiarizing another political cartoonist, though I be not a cartoonist but only a consumer of Mike’s wares.
Had Rudy Giuliani committed the multiple felonies that IN THE NEWS and the DNC-AJC repeatedly said he’d committed, then I would have objected to Giuliani, instead of to ITN and DNC-AJC, even though I would not have been a victim of those falsely alleged crimes.
As it happened, I was instead a victim of ITN’s plagiarism and of ITN’s and the DNC-AJC’s republication of libel. Giuliani was the direct victim of these unlawful acts, but I too have legal standing for tortious complaint.
So it is with Hillary’s deception, except that instead of seeking damages in court, I seek to do her damage at the polls. My best guess is that a federal judge also would find that the best and most appropriate recourse at my disposal.
Paul,
I don’t expect anyone (even politicians) to be “free of sin”. However, I do expect them to be free of hypocrisy. I detest people who say one thing, but do another.
Both Hillary and McCain literally embrace the status quo of backroom political deals. They really don’t believe that the American public wants honesty in government. Well I, stuck in an altruistic rut, think that our politicians should put the American public first…well ahead of special interests, big business, and religious beliefs.
It’s damn ridiculous to listen to the GOP demand up/down votes on appointments when it suits them. It’s also hypocritical for the Democrats to condemn the Iraq War only to vote to fund it because they are afraid of the political consequences down the road of “not supporting the troops”. As though people are stupid enough to think that some American soldier might die in Iraq because Congress failed to pass a funding bill.
Yes, Paul. It does really aggravate me that politics as usual might triumph over a cry for change. Is it not possible for our government to improve itself? Is it simply condemned to worsen until another revolution comes along?
The Debate Reviews Are In A few debate reviews below….our guy really did great tonight!
Obama won the debate. This was his best debate performance yet!
MSNBC (Jonathan Alter): Obama won.
Hotline – On Call: …Barack Obama wins the night — and the momentum in his direction continues.
Atlantic (Marc Ambinder): … The Debate Belongs To Obama LINK
TIME (Mark Halperin): Mark Halperin’s Grades: Obama B+, Clinton B
NBC (Chuck Todd) : …Obama set the tone LINK
CNN (Donna Brazile): …And look, Barack Obama tonight was exceptional- he was presidential, he was poised, he was calm. He had the poetry, but he also had the prose. He put the substance ahead of, you know, perhaps some of the rhetorical flourishes that he’s capable of giving. He was good; so, you can’t deny him that.
CNN (Gloria Borger): …Tonight, you saw Barack Obama as a very credible commander in chief.
Politico (Ben Smith): Obama has come prepared to talk about substance, and offers detailed personal anecdotes, not more abstract oration, for most of his opening statement, before pivoting to the question of who can unify the country to get it done. LINK
CNN (David Gergen): … Barack Obama is dramatically better as a debater than he was a few months ago. I thought he was excellent.
I Refuse to Buy into the Obama Hype (now a supporter) by Grassroots Mom
From: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/2/20/201332/807/36/458633
….
I went to the Library of Congress Website. The FACTS of what each did in the Senate last year sure surprised me. I’m sure they will surprise you, too. Whether you love or hate Hillary, you will be surprised. Whether you think Obama is the second coming of JFK or an inexperienced lightweight, you will surprised. Go check out the Library of Congress Website. After spending some time there, it will be clear that there is really only one candidate who is ready to be the next president, even better than Gore. If you don’t want to spend an hour or two doing research, then I’ll tell you what I discovered on the jump.
I looked up Obama and looked up Clinton. I looked at the bills that they both authored and introduced. Anyone who has been around politics, and is honest, realizes that there are a lot of reasons why a Senator votes one way or another on bills or misses votes. However an examination of the bills that each of these Senators cared enough about to author and introduce revealed much to me: what they care about, what their priorities are, how they tackle problems. And the list of co-sponsors showed something about how they lead, inspire and work with others. Finally, looking at which bills actually passed is pretty indicative of how effective each would be at getting things done.
Before I get into the nitty gritty, let’s all be honest here. It is damn hard to get anything through Congress these days. And Obama and Clinton care about the same issues and have obviously worked together on a lot of legislation, whatever Sen. Clinton’s campaign may imply. She is a frequent co-sponsor on his bills, and he on hers. They are both completely competent senators.
I started with Sen. Clinton.
I’m not a Hillary Hater, but I certainly didn’t like her much either. I didn’t like her DLC history; her votes on Iraq, Iran or the bankruptcy bill; her characterization of the years she spent as First Lady as “executive experience.” Hillary Clinton is no Eleanor Roosevelt. Perhaps more like Lady Bird Johnson. Hillary claims to have brought us SCHIP (with a little help from Ted Kennedy). Lady Bird
During the Vietnam War college students would go door to door with a petition that read “whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government…” They were generally chased off to shouts of “commie hippies!” So much for the Declaration of Independence.
Hypocrisy is one criteria I look at. And I don’t buy the “Dems don’t care about adultery/morality because they have no values” line. On the other hand, I think many politicians, particularly Reps with the strictures of some of the party core, have serious problems with sex addiction, denial, and attempting to live a life of “perfection.” Some Dems, too. I really think, in Bill’s mind, he did not have sex with that woman. Denial , hiding the self and need for approval can be a real problem.
I look at intent. A lot. A person who’s trying and blows it - I can give them a pass. But I expect them to fess up. And not play word games.
I look at the political families who entered with nothing - Gore’s dad, Johnson many others, who amassed huge wealth while serving the public. Isn’t right. Which is why I liked the intent of the framers, say, for Representatives - serve a couple of years and get back to work. A lifetime career is what the bureaucracy’s for. Which is why I’m for term limits and public financing. But it just doesn’t happen.
So this election is shaping up with a candidate for change who hasn’t really been around long enough to get tainted making the deals and compromises, but with a great attitude, against a candidate who’s been burned by the system and has lurched towards a reformist outlook. But who’s had a long history in the “system.” Just moving through that system strikes me like swimming through a sewer in a wet suit. Can take the suit off but the smell lingers. So people hold their noses and point their fingers.
Time again to watch “Dave” with Kevin Kline and Signorey Weaver. He referred to the Presidency as a temp job working for the people. Good attitude for all of ‘em.
Barack Obama’s Plan to Protect Social Security
Obama is committed to ensuring Social Security is solvent and viable for the American people, now and in the future. Obama will be honest with the American people about the long-term solvency of Social Security and the ways we can address the shortfall. Obama will protect Social Security benefits for current and future beneficiaries alike. And he does not believe it is necessary or fair to hardworking seniors to raise the retirement age. Obama is strongly opposed to privatizing Social Security.
Obama believes that the first place to look for ways to strengthen Social Security is the payroll tax system. Currently, the Social Security payroll tax applies to only the first $97,500 a worker makes. Obama supports increasing the maximum amount of earnings covered by Social Security and he will work with Congress and the American people to choose a payroll tax reform package that will keep Social Security solvent for at least the next half century.
Strengthen Retirement Savings Reform Corporate Bankruptcy Laws to Protect Workers and Retirees: Current bankruptcy laws protect banks before workers. Obama will protect pensions by putting promises to workers higher on the list of debts that companies cannot shed; ensuring that the bankruptcy courts do not demand more sacrifice from workers than executives; telling companies that they cannot issue executive bonuses while cutting worker pensions; increasing the amount of unpaid wages and benefits workers can claim in court; and limiting the circumstances under which retiree benefits can be reduced. Require Full Disclosure of Company Pension Investments: Obama will ensure that all employees who have company pensions receive detailed annual disclosures about their pension fund’s investments. This will provide retirees important resources to make their pension fund more secure. Eliminate Income Taxes for Seniors Making Less Than $50,000: Obama will eliminate all income taxation of seniors making less than $50,000 per year. This will provide an immediate tax cut averaging $1,400 to 7 million seniors and relieve millions from the burden of filing tax returns. Create Automatic Workplace Pensions: Obama’s retirement security plan will automatically enroll workers in a workplace pension plan. Under his plan, employers who do not currently offer a retirement plan, will be required to enroll their employees in a direct-deposit IRA acc
Barack Obama’s Plan Enable All Americans to Serve to Meet the Nation’s Challenges Expand Corporation for National and Community Service:
Obama will expand AmeriCorps from 75,000 slots today to 250,000 and he will focus this expansion on addressing the great challenges facing the nation. He will establish a Classroom Corps to help teachers and students, with a priority placed on underserved schools; a Health Corps to improve public health outreach; a Clean Energy Corps to conduct weatherization and renewable energy projects; a Veterans Corps to assist veterans at hospitals, nursing homes and homeless shelters; and a Homeland Security Corps to help communities plan, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Engage Retiring Americans in Service on a Large Scale: Older Americans have a wide range of skills and knowledge to contribute. Obama will expand and improve programs that connect individuals over the age of 55 to quality volunteer opportunities. Expand the Peace Corps: Obama will double the Peace Corps to 16,000 by 2011. He will work with the leaders of other countries to build an international network of overseas volunteers so that Americans work side-by-side with volunteers from other countries. Show the World the Best Face of America: Obama will set up an America’s Voice Initiative to send Americans who are fluent speakers of local languages to expand our public diplomacy. He also will extend opportunities for older individuals such as teachers, engineers, and doctors to serve overseas. Integrate Service into Learning Expand Service-Learning in Our Nation’s Schools: Obama will set a goal that all middle and high school students do 50 hours of community service a year. He will develop national guidelines for service- learning and will give schools better tools both to develop programs and to document student experience. Green Job Corps: Obama will create an energy-focused youth jobs program to provide disadvantaged youth with service opportunities weatherizing buildings and getting practical experience in fast-growing career fields. Expand YouthBuild Program: Obama will expand the YouthBuild program, which gives disadvantaged young people the chance to complete their high school education, learn valuable skills and build affordable housing in their communities. He will grow the program so that 50,000 low-income young people a year a chance to learn construction job skills and complete high school. Require 100 Hou
I have difficulty when any response to a troubled program (SS, Medicare and Medicaid eat about half of fed spending) is to raise taxes. Even if it is at that income level. Without looking at any other changes, which he has rejected.
Increasing retirement age by six months? Even though longevity has increased? Calculating raises to reflect cost of living for seniors rather than wage growth.
Obama’s first book - offered changing or eliminating problematic gov’t programs. Just a week or two ago on a Sunday News show Russert asked for an example. He was stumped (aside from offering electronic billing for Medicare - which has been law for several years).
So I’d like to see some reductions or eliminations. Not just keeping what we have and layering more on top of it.
I’m starting to get jaded again.
In last night’s Democratic debate in Austin, Barack Obama was responding to a question about his readiness to be commander in chief. After explaining a bit about his approach to military issues, Obama spoke about conditions in Afghanistan for U.S. troops after resources were diverted for combat in Iraq……………. Today, the right side of the blogosphere is all worked up about Obama’s anecdote, which they insist is impossible, making Obama a liar. (Of all the various right-wing responses, my personal favorite was this one, which repeatedly calls the senator an “Obidiot” — far-right humor is just so droll — before concluding, “Thank you lord for making liberals such simpletons.”) So, who’s right? As a rule, the phrase “the right side of the blogosphere is all worked up…” should be a dead giveaway………………………………………………………………………………. ABC News’ Jake Tapper did a little legwork and checked Obama’s story out. The campaign put Tapper in touch with the Army captain directly and, not surprisingly, he backed up Obama’s story. The Army captain, a West Point graduate, did a tour in a hot area of eastern Afghanistan from the Summer of 2003 through Spring 2004
Glenn: Considering that the Atlanta Journal Constitution long ago abandoned any hint of honesty and integrity, why would harassing their Conservative bloggers be a big issue?
Besides, can you post 4 comments in a minute?
Why is Polly not subject to the comment limiter?
Think about it, two years solid, 24/7, never contributing anything of interest, just idiotic blather except for when your name jacking the Conservatives and calling them fa-ggots.
If he don’t work for the AJC then he must be an extreme loser.
Wingnut Brigade Mowed Down At Obama Ridge
Somebody earlier this afternoon muttered something abut it “taking more than one guy”.
That’s a brilliant idea!!!!
Maybe what we need is a movement, millions of people hopeful, vocal and active.
Any idea where we could find one?
ITN,
Yes, in the eyes of the law, the victim of a tort, an actionable harm. Your plagiarism and republication of libel (which was itself both plagiarism and republication of verbal defamation, slander) violates my First Amendment rights because it is published in the DNC-AJC.
Here’s how that works. The U.S. Supreme Court has long held that our speech rights include the right to receive, as well as to disseminate, information and ideas. With this end in view, the Court has recognized that a special latitude is granted to daily newspapers such as this one.
That latitude has its limits, however, and plagiarism and defamation are beyond the limits of that protection. They are unprotected speech, for three reasons: they harm the owner of the stolen material; they harm the one defamed; they abridge the right of the reader to receive information and ideas.
Known lies presented under the masthead of a daily newspaper, in any form, as facts of public import, do not constitute information or ideas protected by the Constitution that guarantees my rights. Get it?
That’s why the combination of you, a child urinating against the buttress, and PoFo, a p!ssing gargoyle in the mask of a watcher, makes for enough urea to blow up a rental truck and the DNC-AJC along with it.
The really special thing is that, as you’ve shown again today, you’re oblivous of these facts.
The only thing wrong with Luckovich’s cartoon is……He should be in the middle, with Obama and Clinton on either side of him. Poor taste and bad manners is too much to ask of Luckovich……..the S-O-B!
The $95,000 charge came at the Hy-Vee store in West Des Moines, a grocery and deli chain that is a fixture in the state, on Jan. 1, just two days before Obama stunned Clinton by beating her in the Iowa caucuses.
Too bad there isn’t a follow up as to whether A) the deli got paid and B) whether it’s even true that Clinton bought all this from them. Sounds like the making’s of a slush fund more than a sandwich.
Actually ITFS I didn’t go to your link so I took it that your plagiarized portion might mean that the GOP was sending out a copy of some drivel Rachel Maddow wrote in an email through a postal mailing.
I sure hope you get what little of a game you ever had back by next week. Your Quixotic quest to attempt to trick Andy or myself with the same trap we always catch your brethren with won’t work because we really are two different posters.
Good luck with it though Don. Say hello to Sancho.
