Look at what the Urinal buried on page 5:
{{{{Obama outdraws Clinton in lively Maine caucuses-Urinal}}}}
Outdraws?
You mean like crayons?
Geez, you libs are really ashamed of this Obama guy, aren’t you?
~~~~~
Oh cool, now the Urinal is giving in depth analysis of their own anti American propaganda:
{{{{Suspected al-Qaida-linked gunmen and bombers struck U.S. allied fighters, police and civilians across northern Iraq on Sunday, killing at least 53 people.- Your Urinal Today}}}}
{{{{Why it matters- (((So-called))) awakening groups of local Iraqi fighters who have joined forces with the Americans against al-Qaida in Iraq have been credited with a major role in the drop in violence in recent months. (((Attacks on these groups and their towns))) —- and civilian deaths at American hands —- threaten that cooperation.}}}}
So, let me see if I have this straight, al Qaeda attacks on the Sunnis caused the Sunnis to band together to fight al Qaeda but attacks by al Qaeda on the Sunnis could cause the Sunnis to stop fighting?
Huh.
Leads me to believe that the scumbags working at the Urinal are “so called” journalists.
~~~~~
My goodness, I thought it was supposed to get “warm:”
{{{{It was so cold Sunday in the Upper Midwest, and visibility was so poor in blowing snow, that church services were called off in parts of Michigan. At noon, thermometers in one North Dakota town still registered only 20 below zero.}}}}
{{{{The windy, bitterly cold weather blanketed a region from the Dakotas across much of Minnesota into Wisconsin and Michigan. Subzero temperatures at midday extended into northern Iowa, the National Weather Service said.}}}}
You liberals are so ridiculous, it isn’t even funny.
Brrrrrrrrr, damn, it’s cold outside.

{{{{Last month a Hispanic pollster employed by the KKKlinton campaign pitted the two groups against each other by telling The New Yorker that Hispanic voters have “not shown a lot of willingness or affinity to support black candidates.” Mrs. Ku Klux Rodham then seconded the motion by telling Tim Russert in a debate that her pollster was “making a historical statement.”}}}}
{{{{It wasn’t an accurate statement, historical or otherwise. It was a lie, and a bigoted lie at that, given that it branded Hispanics, a group as heterogeneous as any other, as monolithic racists. As the columnist Gregory Rodriguez pointed out in The Los Angeles Times, all three black members of Congress in that city won in heavily Latino districts; black mayors as various as David Dinkins in New York in the 1980s and Ron Kirk in Dallas in the 1990s received more than 70 percent of the Hispanic vote. The real point of the KKKlinton Kampaign’s decision to sow misinformation and racial division, Mr. Rodriguez concluded, was to “undermine one of Obama’s central selling points, that he can build bridges and unite Americans of all types.”}}}}
~~~~~
{{{{McCain and his campaign know that the conservative uprising poses serious practical problems as well. A senior McCain aide, who didn’t want to be named talking about the campaign’s woes, cites the difficulty in fund-raising that the candidate faced a year ago when GOP critics targeted his compromise position on immigration reform. (McCain championed a bill with archliberal Ted Kennedy that would have allowed illegal aliens to participate in a worker-visa program. He later retreated.) Campaign donations quickly dried up—particularly among small donors, whose checks are looked upon as an indication of how much grass-roots support a candidate is getting. Aides privately worry that more barking from McCain’s critics could create a similar scenario—a devastating financial blow in an election year when Republicans are already being outspent and outraised by Democrats. “We can get past people bashing us—even [George W.] Bush got some of that,” says a McCain adviser, who declined to be named discussing internal strategy. “But if it starts affecting [the money], it’s a problem.” Coulter tells NEWSWEEK that she herself was “rather surprised at how ferocious and immediate the support was for my preferenc
But yet the liberals still whine:
{{{{Contrary to what the liberal media would have you believe, there is almost no shooting going on in many of the US-patrolled provinces for the very good reason that the Taliban are afraid to begin attacks that only end in their annihilation. The Taliban have not even won an engagement against the Afghan National Army in Regional Command East since April 2007.}}}}
{{{{The CIA, Hayden said, has not employed waterboarding in “just a few weeks short of” five years.}}}}
~~~~~
These people can’t wait to surrender to al Qaeda:
{{{{House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said twice Sunday that Iraq “is a failure,” adding that President Bush’s troop surge has “not produced the desired effect.”}}}}
Purely political scumbag rhetoric, they don’t care about America’s safety, only their own White Power.
{{{{Al-Qaeda in Iraq faces an “extraordinary crisis”. Last year’s mass defection of ordinary Sunnis from al-Qaeda to the US military “created panic, fear and the unwillingness to fight”. The terrorist group’s security structure suffered “total collapse”.}}}}
{{{{These are the words not of al-Qaeda’s enemies but of one of its own leaders in Anbar province — once the group’s stronghold. They were set down last summer in a 39-page letter seized during a US raid on an al-Qaeda base near Samarra in November.}}}}
{{{{The US military released extracts from that letter yesterday along with a second seized in another November raid that is almost as startling. }}}}
{{{{That second document is a bitter 16-page testament written last October by a local al-Qaeda leader near Balad, north of Baghdad. “I am Abu-Tariq, emir of the al-Layin and al-Mashahdah sector,” the author begins. He goes on to describe how his force of 600 shrank to fewer than 20.}}}}
Yeah, a real “failure.”
Look, we even got al Qaeda whining just like a pinko does:
{{{{“We were mistreated, cheated and betrayed by some of our brothers,” he says. “Those people were nothing but hypocrites, liars and traitors and were waiting for the right moment to switch sides with whoever pays them most.”}}}}
Bwa.

WHAT”S GOING ON IN THE GOP BRAIN - How Conservatives Can Manage McCain …
AND
Bush Begat McCain How we got here. -On Super Tuesday, John McCain secured the Republican nomination. How did that happen? Simple. In the absence of a compelling conservative, the Republican electorate turned to the apostate sheriff. The story of this campaign is how many Republicans didn’t care, and felt that national security trumps social heresy The other half of the story behind McCain’s victory is this: There would have been a far smaller Republican constituency for the apostate sheriff had there been a compelling conservative to challenge him. But there never was.

Hey Duh, Have you noticed how the libs wave the flag of global warming when it’s hot for a few days/weeks in August, but discount the bitter cold across the northern plains as just “variations in the weather”?

Off to keep the economic engine of the nation humming along (and to pay for the occupation).
But quick observation before I go. Reaganism is dead. Except to those who are brain-dead. And McCain’s insincere overtures to it mean nothing. He is much too smart to keep trying to get that dead horse to pull the load.
That neo-con wing of the party has proven itself immoral and incompetent and is beyond redemption. The hope of the GOP now lies in the McCain, Guiliani, Schwarzenegger wing.
In other words the non-phony conservative wing.

That would be a powerful argument—IF it were true. Of course, knowledgeable people don’t consider seasonal weather patterns indicative of larger climate issues at all… which is why nobody goes around claiming that a stretch of hot weather in August is “proof of global warming,” as you pretend.

Where did all of the money go? You guessed it! To the military industrial complex. Talk about wealth redistribution!
For all of you LuckoDUNCE clones, Bush Jr has not only carried on the Reagan/Bush Sr spending but has raised it to a new level. One that puts this country’s national debt approaching $10 trillion.

About Obama…I have a question:
(((Two days ago (Monday, February 4, 2008), The Standard, a Nairobi-based national newspaper published on its front page the heart-rending picture of the Kenyan Minister of Special Programmes, Dr. (Mrs.) Naomi Shabaan, carrying a two-day old baby, John Nduati, who was born at one of the very “inhospitable and squalid camps” where hapless Kenyans, brutally displaced by the insane political crises that have engulfed their country for more than a month now, have sought refuge.)))
(((This tender child never asked to be born at this time. He neither knows President Mwai Kibaki nor Mr. Raila Odinga, whose bitter quarrel over the disputed December 27 polls have continued to exact enormous toll on their once beautiful and peaceful country. Hopefully, someone would preserve a copy of last Monday’s The Standard and show it to this hapless boy when he grows up. I doubt if he will forgive all those who had plunged his nation into such horrible crises and caused him to be born in such an inhuman condition that brings tears to the eyes of even the most hard-hearted.)))
(((Standing in a makeshift camp with 300 other displaced people, mostly Kikuyus, David said he was chased from his home in late December by a mob of Luos and Kalenjins supporting opposition leader Raila Odinga.
(((Almost every member of Kibaki’s Kikuyu tribe fled the city as people from rival ethnic groups took the streets. No Kikuyu-owned shop or business remains open — all have been smashed, looted and burned. They have been stripped even of their corrugated iron roofs.)))
(((Now that the town has been emptied of Kikuyus, gangs are looking for new targets, residents say.)))
(((Haroun Wandalo said young men armed with machetes have demanded to search his house three times in the past weeks even though he belongs to an ethnic groups that voted for the opposition.)))

Democrats are fighting over power. Meanwhile the GOP is fighting over whether they like power more than principles. Nominating McCain, who they all hate but was the only one with even a prayer of winning the White House, gives us the first answer to that question. Clinton and Obama are both carrying the flag of the progressive party, and the Democrats see no problem with either. For us it’s who’s the best leader. For the GOP it’s “can we push through someone we hate because he’s nominally one of us”. If GOP had any principles they would never nominate McCain. Obviously they don’t.
By RW-(the original)
February 11, 2008 10:22 AM | Link to this
rushncap,
If you’re actually up for a discussion your analysis at 10:05 has some merit, but also some significant flaws.
Let’s take McCain first. He isn’t hated by the GOP he just has serious problems with each segment of the GOP, but also has a strength that ties him to each segment. For instance the national security conservatives are very upset with him over immigration, but extremely pleased with his staunch position on continuing the fight against Islamic extremists. He’s a mixed bag to be sure, but not widely hated.
The other place I think you miss the mark is thinking the Democrat electorate as a whole would be equally happy with Obama or Clinton. The youth vote is much less likely to turn out for Clinton and the moderates that overwhelmingly are supporting Obama would be more inclined to move to McCain in a race against Clinton. There is also the very real phenomenon that many of the Obama followers have become something of a cult and aren’t likely to ever support anyone else in this race.
Bottom line is I believe we’ll either have a President Obama or a President McCain, but not another President Clinton.
Your thoughts?

I asked two questions which no one has answered. I was on a fact-finding mission. The reason there are no sources sited (Atlas Shrugs was mentioned in one of my quotes) is because they were multiple and ml doesn’t allow multiple links. I’ll go back and see if I can reconstruct the sources.
I’ve always told you guys that I research multiple sources.
I am more concerned with Obama’s lack of judgment. I can HOPE he knows what he’s doing but that and a dime won’t get me much, if anything at all.

Obama has won many States but the delagates are too close to call. The timing of Clinton replacing her manager was brilliant. The MSM is covering it more than Obama’s wins to try to stop the big mo.
Big State primaries go to Clinton and with Florida and superdelegates, she should win.

Come on get with it! Cult and Messianic are so yesterday. Really.
Impossible anyway. Didn’t Saint Ann of Coulterville tell you we were GODLESS?
The problem with a serious discussion of the cult of personality is that it is a matter of taste.
I like Obama. He’s a hero.
I didn’t like Reagan. He was a zero.
Have we not heard “the house that Reagan built” as frequently as the word “change”? I have heard Reagan fans talk about him as if he were the second coming.

Observations of the Obama supporters being like a cult are coming from other Obama supporters? What? Please explain.
Bush has given millions of relief to Africa. That’s good.
Accomplishments are all relative. In your book, Clinton and Carter did nothing right while in office.
You can deny it all you want, or choose not to see it as well, but the neo-con movement, highlighted in past years by vehement Bush followers in this country, has been much more cultish by definition.
Although I will admit that the Bush worship has seemed to die down now that he is so unpopular, and no candidate for the GOP wants to be near him or even have his name whispered in the same sentence with their own.

I don’t think “cult” will fly past the primaries, if Obama beats Clinton. But the point is, the Repubs need Clinton to carry the Dem primaries, otherwise they reeeeeally have no shot. Bosch,
It’s kind of a silly game to blame or praise a President solely for everything that happens in our lives or the country. So when you get to a laundry list like (m)ental (m)idget laid out you would have to take a specific decision and see how other events as well as Congress factored in.
Clinton did sign welfare reform which turned out to be a very good thing and is really his signature achievement, but he had also vetoed essentially the same bill twice.
Carter was good for sweater sales.
(m)ental (m)idget,
Are you saying that all of those things/people have been destroyed by a specific action of President Bush?
Aren’t people primarily responsible for their own lives?
This one is probably over your head, but most any policy decision will impact someone negatively.

Any army needs a mission in any war. That mission is necessarily formed by the strategic vision of a country which itself is a direct result of the founding purpose of that country.
SO what is the mission of US troops in Iraq?
I’ve posed that question for five years on various blogs and have never received an answer. The GOP is too afraid to answer me. They have no idea what the mission is, in fact, they never knew an army needed a mission to fight a war with. They think life is just shoot em up and steal the gold.

Dusty,
Allow me to answer your question:
Its a cult when a president, according to both past and present evidence, lied to his countrymen and allies and lead them blindly into a war with innocent civilians that distracts said countrymen from the perpetrators who launched attacks against them.
The evidence of this is the lack of verbal support from his constituants of the same party who are trying to replace him and one of the lowest approval ratings in American history.
Clear?

RW,
So, if it’s a silly game to blame the president solely for things that happen to the country, why do Carter bashers have no problem in blaming him, and him alone, for the economic downfall in the late 70s? Are you sure it was Carter that was good for the boosting of sale of those sweaters or was Congress to blame for some of that too?
I’m not sure about this, but maybe Clinton vetoed those welfare reform bills because there was garbage attached to it. That’s usually the case for both sides.
I was bummed to hear about Roy Scheider too. “You’re gonna need a bigger boat” - classic.

The bill was hammered out in a compromise with the Republican-controlled Congress, and many Democrats were critical of Clinton’s decision to sign the bill, saying it was much the same as the two previous welfare reform bills he had vetoed. In fact, it emerged as one of the most controversial issues for Clinton within his own party.
According to Dick Morris there was no real difference in the bills. The only thing that was different was that polls showed it was extremely popular and another veto could have cost Clinton his reelection.

Now, you may not like that but I am all for freedom from terrorism for us and Iraqis and citizens of Afghanistan. I gather that you don’t care. But Americans are going to elect a man who will protect our country, not an anti-war Obama or a flip flopping Hillary.

Ho hum. I guess you will ask again tomorrow because you are anti-war even if terrorists try to take over our country. That is their plan now.
But go ahead. Sleep through it. Maybe your children and Obama’s won’t mind suppression. I plan to fight it now and not leave it for mine.

ITN, in regards to your 9:42, I was thinking today about the consequences of this “new” GOP’s massive misgovernance.
That they may well lose the White House is not in dispute.
Nor, I think is the likelihood that they may lose MANY more seats in Congress.
That 25 Republican US Congressmen have already jumped ship, really exemplifies the blowback against “conservative” incompetence and lack of ethics. (Only 4 Dems are planning on leaving Congress so far).
And 5 senior Republican US Senators are bolting - 4 cut n run neo-cons and one who is probably truly disgusted with his party for the right reasons - Hagel.
(And though we live in the Moron Belt, and the chances are not likely, ousting that “courageous” Saxby Chambliss would be the greatest of the many November presents for Georgians.)
And the number of GOP defectors is almost certainly going to go (much?) higher.
But I, for one, don’t think the Dems having that much control is necessarily a good thing for the country. At least historically it hasn’t been, but perhaps they can demonstrate some real change themselves.
We just may get the opportunity to see.

Iraq is a base. an army base. We have sent excursions into the civilian population of Iraq and secured neighborhoods, but they’re no more effective than our excursions into indian territory from our forts in the old west. We slaughtered some indian families, but it didnt’ change the fact that the indians were still indians or that they’d slaughter the pioneers if we left. Once we invaded indian territory, we could never leave it.
In Iraq, the surge’s success is being spun by the Bush Base as changing the fabric of Iraqi society so that we can point to an eventual victory and peace with a democratic government in our wake.
The surge has made superdelegates of the Sunnis. the surge has made a congress out of the shia. they are no longer competing sects, but rather a parliament of polite discourse and reasonable ombudsmen.
And there’s still about 25 or 30% of americans who believe that saddam was the pilot in all four 911 hijacked planes that flew into the WTC and the pentegon, and who, disquised as mild mannered Osama bin laden, still fights a never ending battle for sheep, terror, and the unamerican way!!!!

All you need to comprehend Republicans is embodied in the ‘KKKlinton’ language of the last vestiges of Dixiecrat bigots ala Luckoduh.
Many Republicans now understand that a majority of our society sees them for what they truely are, bigots who have become ashamed of their own ideology and who must hide behind rhetoric to try to convince the gullible that they are not rascists, they are just misunderstood and really want the best for people of color through ‘tough love’.
Now the problem with that thought is that Democtrats are running an African American and a woman candidate while the Republicans continue to exclude minorities from their ranks. It will take more than lip service to convince America’s minorities that Republicans are not bigots. It takes the thing that Republicans have never been able to find the backbone to do… take ACTION.

I have heard the word “cult” thrown around a lot today.
So far as cults go, the republican cannonization of Ron Reagan gets a little freaky at times. How many times at debates do GOP candidates reference Ron Reagan. I Understand it though, they need at least on GOP president to look back upon fondly, before Reagan you would have to go back to lincoln for a good GOP president.
But Obama supporters as a cult? I don’t think so. When looking at the candidates, I know what to expect from clinton, a 50%+1 strategy with a divided country, more of what we have had for the last 28 years. She would be capable as president, she would make some good decisions, some bad, the divide between rightwing and democrats would still exist and be as nasty as it ever was. With McCain, I see a more united country with a true patriot who has dedicated his life to his country, the divisions between left and right would still be there but not as nasty as it would be with clinton.
So with Obama, I do have hope that he may be able to bridge the gap and unite the country. It might not happen, but I hope it will, maybe the people in this country can step back and see themselves as americans again. So if my choice is between a proven divisive candidate, and an unproven candidate who might be able to work for common american goals, I say take the chance, don’t settle for less because it is what you are used to.

True, no one could know for sure that this Alabama battle tested CIC would completely botch this entire episode, needlessly costing the nation thousands of her most precious sons and daughters lives and billions of dollars, but given his past resume, reasonable people should have presumed so. I did. (In the days following Sept. 11, one of my earlier thoughts was, “OH NO! NOT WITH THIS MAN IN THE WHITE HOUSE! ANYBODY BUT HIM!”)
None of us can peer into the hearts of these people who initially supported this worst foreign policy blunder in US history, and it is possible that some did in fact later have their epiphanies. But I just doubt the sincerity of Clinton et al who NOW see the invasion as the wrong move. This is but one of the reasons I will not vote for her.
And sadly to this date, I don’t know of one single Republican, other than the combat veteran Hagel, who has had the courage to speak the truth about how this invasion and occupation was deceitful and wrong for any number of reasons. Gutless all.
These “leaders” decisions have us all on the line and we simply can no longer trust those, in either party, who will rubber stamp terrible, deadly and incompetent ideas just for political expediency.

Sgt. Evan Vela, 24, was found guilty of murder without premeditation, of aiding and abetting in planting an AK-47 on the dead man’s body and of lying to military investigators about the shooting. He had faced a possible life sentence. “This was an accident waiting to happen,” Culp told the jury of seven men and one woman in his closing argument. “These men were extremely, extremely sleep deprived and nobody was thinking clearly.”
So are troops are saying that the reason that atrocities such as this keep happening in Iraq is that Republicans have over-extended their duty assignments past the point of safe operations. Republicans continue to abuse and harm our soldiers in combat. Republicans do not honor our troops…they USE them. Even dogs are treated better than Republicans treat our military.
WASHINGTON - Multiple new efforts aimed at stemming suicides in the Army are falling short of their goal: The service anticipates another jump in the annual number of soldiers who killed themselves or tried to, including in the Iraq and Afghanistan war zones.
Congratulations Republicans, our soldiers would rather kill themselves than continue to do the duites you ask of them. Cowardly Republicans ask others to fight for them then do not plan for victory, support, armor, supplies, personael protection, reconstruction, potable water, etc. Those are not the actions/inactions of someone who cares.

How many blacks have Republicans run for the office of Ptesident? How many women have Republicans run for the office of President.
Nice thing about facts is that they are difficult to twist by Rovian Republicans.
The FACTS are that Republicans have not run even ONE woman or person of color for the office of President…and they won’t until they absolutely have to in order to stay a viable political party.
And that is the ultimate irony, that Republicans must now swallow their own bile and refuse to fess up to their rascist leanings, heritage, and principles.

It is good to see Republicans have to swallow their rascism now and claim they are inclusionary. Welcome to the 21st century bubbas.
Those pesky facts keep getting in their way, though. Republicans still haven’t run a minority for the oval office in 2008 while Democrats have proven they inclusionary stance since they ran Geraldine Anne Ferraro, D in 1984.
Democrats ran a woman to serve in the oval office over a quarter century ago. Republicans still try to drag their feet and live lives of exclusion as long as they can possibly get away with it. Thankfully, the days of bigotry are numbered in the Republican party, as they were in the Democratic party in the early 20th century.

While it is history day at the Duh Report, let’s us examine some lessons from long ago:
Anybody who thinks the Civil War wasn’t about slavery is a pud puller, or a demokrat, one.
It was started by southern demokrat slave owners specifically because of Republican Abraham Lincoln’s election in 1860.
{{{{The immediate result of Lincoln’s victory was declarations of secession by South Carolina and other states, which were rejected as illegal by the then-current President, James Buchanan and President-elect Abraham Lincoln.}}}}
In 1864, Lincoln was hated (yes, there were surrender monkey pinkos in 1864,) because of the war, by an overwhelming majority (no Zogby numbers, sorry.)
Sound familiar?
{{{{In early 1864 Lincoln felt he was unlikely to win re-election, the war had not yet been decided. Despite this fact, the Republicans unanimously renominated Lincoln. The Democrats nominated General McClellan. The platform of the Democratic party called for a cease-fire.}}}}
And Lincoln was fighting for the slaves!
It just goes to show you that history is not decided by the cry babies of today.

RB,
You are so predictable. I knew you’d be the first to say, “Well what about 9/11”. I guess you disregarded the rest of my post.
I know perfectly well where the planes took off from, RB. I also am perfectly aware that there are probably terrorist cells here in this country. I am also keenly aware that we probably, in all likelihood, have not seen the last terrorist attack on US soil. I am awake, wingnut.
I do not however believe, that the terrorist will take over our government and our nation at large, take over our neighborhoods and invade our cities.
“And they don’t need to militarily take over the government, you’ll vote them into office.”
You’re not only paranoid and delusional, but absurd to the highest degree.
It is very disingenuous and very dishonest of you to insinuate that anyone would vote in a terrorist as POTUS.
“You’re already more tolerant and welcoming of Islam than you are of Christianity”
RB, I am a Christian, however, I welcome and am tolerant of all people and religions. Your fear and hatred of all things Islamic is very apparent, and you shouldn’t blame others who are tolerant for your own bigoted misgivings of Islam. It is not our tolerance of this religion that will be the downfall of our country as you would believe.
I don’t believe that I’ve personally placed anyone in Washington D.C. who has sworn those things.
However, your ignorance of Islam is very apparent, as you are again, very dishonestly trying to say that is the Koran’s objective.
If you are referring to Keith Ellison, I believe he was democratically elected in the state of Minnesota. Are you trying to say that we should only allow democracy in this country as long as the people elected fit into your narrow view of who is qualified and who is not? Are you saying that if people vote a Muslim into office, then their voice should be overruled by the Christian majority government?
You dare call liberals socialists on a regular basis, but are blind to your daily fascist rants.
Unbelieveable.

{{{Oh yeah, it’s not pertinent to the argument at all that the suicide rate for the military is LOWER than that of the general public.}}}
The change in the military suicide rate during the Republican administration has nothing to do with civilian adolescdent rates, whatsoever.
If you were comparing military vs civilian suicide rates it would indeed be relevant and your data is testament to the fact that military personnel are far more fit psychological subjects than the general adolescent population.
That doesn’t change the FACT that military suicide rates are NOW up because Republicans have used and abused our troops then tried to hide behind them in order to avoid the blame.
As I said before, always SEE what a Republican actually DOES. Never take their word because they live in a world in which they are blameless of everything they do. Republicans will continue to play the apples n oranges game as long as they think they can fool all of the people all of the time.

Let me make this perfectly clear. I never said that Obama was an Islamist. Louis Farrakhan’s support of Obama certainly gives one pause though.
I only questioned his personal relationship with Odinga. Turns out Odinga does want Kenya to adopt Sharia as the one true law.
When you go to CFR to check into the conflict in Kenya, it seems that neither Odinga or Kibaki are good for what ails that country. The country is majority Christian though, so majority rules. Kibaki is an ally to the west.
Getalife is right. These associations may present a problem for Obama. We’ll have to wait and see. I guess it wouldn’t be any different than the disdain that leftists have towards Christianity and anyone who believes in it.

As the CURRENT report indicates, most of the suicides are not in the combat theater. Instead, they are the results of the toll that overdeployment takes on the lives and relationships of our servicemen and women. @@’s link is to a partisan blog, is dated, and does not reflect the reality of what our soldiers are facing in Iraq or the fawning platitudes but lack of respect and support they receive from the administration that placed them in harm’s way.
Ritchie said Thursday, as she did last year, that officials are finding that failed personal relationships are the main motive for the suicides, followed by legal and financial problems as well as job-related difficulties.
Our soldiers are not killing themselves in order to sway political ideologies. They are killing themselves because the current Republican administration only gives them lip service and photo-ops while abandoning true meaningful support for them both on and off the battlefield.

{{{Dr. Rothberg, (——>appointed by KKKlinton, duh<——) a civilian}}}
Duh, neither page of your linked article staes that Dr Rothberg was appointed by Clinton. I must again ask for your source if you have one or is this just another obfistucation?
This still does not change the FACT that Dr Rothberg is a civilian employee of a governmental agency controlled by an administration that quite zealously protects itself from anyone who criticizes it (Plamegate, etc).
YOU may believe that if Dr Rothberg did not say what the Bush administration wanted him to that he would still have a job. I think most americans would disagree in light of the Bush administrations’ past actions.
In light of these facts, Dr Rothbergs opinions can only be seen as biased and self-serving.

RB,
Those events you speak of are from the radical fringes. Christianity has that too, you know. Ever heard of Eric Rudolph or the nut from Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas? Catholic priests being investigated for child abuse ring any bells?
I know these things are happening, but they are the fringes and do not by any means represent the majority of Muslims in this world. Just like the nutjob in Westboro does not represent all Baptists.
Of course I do not disregard these incidences as meaningless. I think these incidences have, however, increased because of our presence in the region.
And we are supposed to take statements like this:
“you’ve already put 1 man in Washington who took his oath of office on the sacred book of a religion who’s objective is to become the one and only religion by force if necessary and to have government answer to it”
to mean that you are just oh so trusting of Islam and not afraid of it?
Please, your backpaddling is rather apparent and to be honest, quite pathetic.
And to answer your last question which again, shows your complete disregard for others who do not think like you:
My priests, all of them that work at my church, do, in fact, believe in heaven and hell.
By that last question, are you really that arrogant as to think or even assume you can or even have the right to judge who I am and evaluate my belief system?

If I might interject, there’s some truth to your fringe argument, but mainstream Christians speak out forcefully against the fringe element within their religions while very few mainstream Muslims do. JFK was not born a hero but was heroric when fighting for his country during wartime and then serving as President.
President Bush served his country during war time. The National Guard was seldom sent overseas during that time but were the home protectors. Then Bush has served as president during some of the most dangerous times in American history. It has not been easy but he has protected America and freed two countries from dictatorial rule. Those are heroic actions by him and our military.
I think all Americans should want to protect our country whether they are in the military or not. That is the point I make. Right now, anti-war words are like encoragement to our enemies. I will not support any actions that are so close to cowardice or worse.

Bosch,
I wasn’t arguing the larger point that RB brought up, but aren’t the governments in countries with Sharia Law basically subjected to the religion and not the other way around?
That’s certainly the case when radical Islam takes over a country, but it seems to me that it’s also mainstream in the Islamic world. If that’s the case then it’s not much of a stretch to get to RB’s point and only rests on how large the radical fringe is and how passive western democracies are about letting it spread.

Where in the article does it say that Clinton appointed Rothberg in 1996, Duh? If you are referring to the 1996 statistic that was quoted, that is not the appointment date or the appointer of the good Dr Rothberg.
I invite everyone to read the article for themselves and to see if THEY can find anywhere in it the mention that DR Rothberg was appointed by Clinton, remember to read the second page too. Here is the link again
From Duh’s own article: {{{But a detailed report of a study by Dr. Rothberg and others, published by The Journal of the American Medical Association in 1990}}}
So the good Dr Rothberg was around in 1990 before the Clinton administration. Duh, your credibility is showing. You appear to be a LIAR. It, also, appears that you do not read your own posted articles before you LIE about them.

Are the mosques in the US who toss people out for speaking up radicals too? Is the silence from the mainstream muslims as deafening for you as it is for the rest of us?
Eric Rudolf’s actions are wrong. I don’t think you’ll find too many Christains who won’t say that. Sure there are fringes who think his motives justify his actions, but not many. He was wrong!! And so are Catholic priests who molest children and their leaders who protect them.
You keep trying to make paralells of those issues, but they just aren’t the same.

You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than you earn.
You cannot build character and courage by destroying men’s initiative and independence.
And you cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they can and should do for themselves.
A little something for everyone. No doubt the leftists will zoom in on #6 and #8 and disregard all the others.
I’m pretty sure it was meant for the individual and not governments.
I know….Boetcker was a minister, so nothing he says is relevant.

getalife,
The one flaw in your theory is that even though the electorate has something of a throw the bums out feeling right about now, that’s 29 nominally Republican districts that won’t have an incumbent to throw out. It seems to me that makes it easier to elect a new Republican, especially when we’ll be going on two years of Democrat control with nothing being accomplished.

Is that the same JFK who roped in the Communists alongside his best congressional friend Dick Nixon, and alongside Joe McCarthy, Bobby’s boss? The same secrecy-averse JFK whose Justice Department tapped MLK’s telephones?

PoFo and CO, I think a much better question, oft asked by yours truly and still to this date unanswered, is, “What is conservative?”
My experience is one single “conservatives” over at Luckovich’s trotting out one slogan that said nothing. (Peace through Strength)
But with this serious query I ask, “What are the specific elements and hallmarks of American conservatism?”
With so many still desperately clinging to the term, it seems like it would be a slam dunk for them to, at length, describe it’s characteristics and details, no?
No.

Curious Observer,
Most of us that proudly call ourselves conservatives have been conservatives for most of our adult lives. What’s neo about that?
The actual self described neocons are disaffected liberals that are overwhelmingly Jewish. It seems to me that people that use the term to describe any Republican just aren’t willing or capable of understanding the difference, but if they do they’re trying to hide their bigotry.

It’s not like I haven’t asked many times before over at Luckovich’s and none of you posers have demonstrated the courage to respond.
Here’s your chance, True American Conservative and Patriot! But that you have responded to my initial question with a childish mirror-like one of your own, I think already answers it.

Blowhard,
I’m sure you think it’s cute to make believe you’ve had some lingering question on the table.
Yes, lying POS it is on the table and STILL you act like “What me?”.
So again puhssy, quit pretending I haven’t asked YOU numerous times WHAT IS CONSERVATIVE?
Just answer it and show us your vast “conservative” intellect. If you have the nads. (You don’t).

Yes, I fondly remember driving my SUV through Embarrass during the blustery year of 1888:
{{{{The temperature also fell to 40 below in Embarrass, 80 miles southeast of International Falls. That’s just one degree above the all-time record in Minneapolis, 250 miles to the south, that was set in January 1888, the weather service said.}}}}
If this keeps up, we are going to NEED global warming and fast.
~~~~~
{{{{But not many 21-year-olds start their Monday with a personal breakfast with Chelsea Clinton, as Rae did this morning at the student union at the nearby University of Milwaukee.}}}}
{{{{Rae got the one-on-one treatment from the former — and possibly future — first daughter because he is a Democratic National Committee member from Wisconsin and thus a “super delegate,” one of the 796 free agents who can back any candidate in the race for the Democratic nomination.}}}}
That’s not too unethical.
Like mother, like daughter.
But don’t call it pimping!
~~~~~
{{{{Democratic Sen. Ku Klux Rodham KKKlinton denied Monday that her campaign is in trouble after losing to Sen. Barack Obama in four states this past weekend and replacing her campaign manager.}}}}
I didn’t know Ku Klux Rodham was still a candidate.
It seems like so…..yesterday.
{{{{“I’m still ahead in the popular vote and in delegates,” KKKlinton said, though the numbers do not fully support that statement.}}}}
And isn’t she just brimming with the truth?
{{{{Pledged Delegates Obama 1134 KKKlintoon 1128}}}}
By the way, al-Gitmo, the only way the super delegates will nullify the vote of the people would be if they were allowed to don their traditional robes and pointy hoods, which wouldn’t surprise me any.

Anyone who admires Chief Houston can be Kahuna in Washington anytime.
None of this “English Only”, though. His wife had pretty good French, I thought.

Thnaks Blowhard,
So why did you leave out the part where you were asked what a neocon was BEFORE you asked me about conservatism? And why did leave out your refusal to answer?
Name call all you want, but answering the question would save you a lot of time. Now be a good little stooge and go cut and paste that part.
Or answer, Jew hater.

Damn, AmVet is HUGELY irritated today, both here and at Wooten’s.
Jock itch perhaps?
Although conservatism has been through numerous transitions over time, I’ve always seen it as a political philosophy that emphasizes the value of traditional institutions and practices. Conservatives prefer institutions and practices that have evolved gradually and are manifestations of continuity and stability.
But that’s just me and my opinion.

Ms. Rickie, when you courageously decline to describe any conservative attributes, I’ve got plenty for you and your cretinous pals to chew on.
But again, just in case you phony conservatives pretended to miss it:
“A true historical American conservative has NEVER been and is NOT now even remotely interested in replacing centuries of science in our public classrooms with religious mythology. Nor are they invested in “adding” it as a faux scientific alternative. At ANY level of government you Cobb Country cretins!”
Read and heed Curly. Strike one in you shameful claim to being a conservative.

Right. Biology teachers want to go on filling in the gaps with magic saltations, and making cosmological claims based on the almighty power of Evolutionary Biology as a Grand Theory of Everything.
No, no. This never happens. High school biology teachers and their professors in the teachers colleges are professional scientists, and never would stray from the physical evidence. Never.

Blowhard,
You seem quite proud of that paragraph. Who did you plagiarize it from?
I don’t know of anyone that wants to take science out of the classroom and replace it with religion. I also don’t see why someone confident that their view is the correct one would be opposed to letting students know that something being taught as fact is really still a theory. One with only the very barest of evidence at that.
So there’s your first example of my conservatism. I think all subjects taught to our children should be done in the most complete manner possible and the religious dogma of Darwinism should never be substituted for the scientific fact that it’s an unproven theory.
I really don’t think our government should be involved in the teaching either. Now I consider that a common sense conservative value, but many will put that in my Libertarian column.
Now what is a neocon, Jew hater?
Polly,
My clock doesn’t work and I have a comment box. Is it time for that restart yet?

**“The Ten Cannots” by: William J. H. Boetcker
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot bring about prosperity by encouraging the hoarding of wealth among the few
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot strengthen the weak by allowing the strong to take advantage of them
You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer. You cannot lift the wage earner by lowering his wages
You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot help the poor by helping the rich
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. Unless it is hatred for lower classes
And you cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they can and should do for themselves. You cannot help men at all by preventing others from doing for them what they cannot do for themselves.
