{{{{NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Times Co. The Times’ revenue also fell 7.1% in the quarter, or 1.7% without the effect of an extra week falling in the year-ago period, to $865.8 million, missing analysts’ expectations.}}}}

Woo-hoo! OBAMA ‘08!

“Senator Clinton has argued, I think fairly, that she has the experience to start on Day One. I think that it’s important to be right on Day One.”

Sen. Obama will deflate McCain’s strength and national security message in November by providing the best contrast for American voters to see — that Obama had the good judgment to oppose the stupid invasion of Iraq from the beginning, and the authorization to invade should have NEVER been given to Bush!

“””Obama: “I Want To End Mindset That Got Us Into War In The First Place”

By Greg Sargent - January 31, 2008, 9:49PM

Obama has been frequently challenged to draw a connection between his early opposition to the war and his current candidacy, and he hasn’t always delivered a solid answer. But he certainly boiled it down into one pithy line tonight: “I don’t want to just end the war, but I want to end the mindset that got us into war in the first place.””””

AND

Hillary: Electing A Woman President Would Change The World

By Greg Sargent - January 31, 2008, 9:28PM

One thing that the Obama campaign has successfully done in recent days — with an assist from the Clintons — is cast his candidacy as the historic one, and Hillary’s as the hidebound, reactionary one. Hillary pushes back on that argument during the debate, telling listeners: “I think having a woman president would be a huge change for America and the world.” It’s an argument that’s gotten lost — again, partly because of the Clintons’ missteps in recent days.

If we have McCain on the Repug ticket in November, his “100 years of more war” rhetoric will have to be hit hard by the Dems:

“Senator Clinton mentioned the issue of gravitas and judgment. I think it is much easier for us to have the argument when we have a nominee who says `I always thought this was a bad idea. This was a bad strategy.’ It was not just a problem of execution.” - Sen. Obama, 2008

AmVet! Howdy! Missed your posts.

I predicted the same for Huckabee a couple of days ago, I just don’t think the wingnuts will go towards the Mormon.

Who do you think will win the Dem delegates?

Oh poor Rudy, Luckovich just won’t cut him a break.

Interesting conversation yesterday evening about overpopulation - I just read some of the posts. I had to scoot rather quickly after my last.

Here’s my take: I don’t think anyone is calling for us to start exterminating humans, but it is a problem that needs to be addressed.

Paul,

I think we are already evolving, and in a very short period of time it’s been. Look at the general population of Americans, and American children - fat as hell, why? Look at what we eat: high fructose corn syrup (corn), and chemicals. It’s causing a huge health crisis and it’s happened in a relatively short period of time, in my lifetime at least. There were no fat kids in my school. Honestly, I’ve been trying to remember, and there just weren’t any.

Go to any WalMart and count the fat people. There are more fat people at Wal Mart because they shop there and buy the poisoned crap from China.

I, too, like what you said, have faith in man kind, but I read this somewhere and I can’t remember where, but our kids are supposed to be the first generation that lives a shorter amount of time than their parents (us).

You also are displaying the famous religious bigotry that liberals have always said was wrong even while they are busy trashing anyone with any religious values or beliefs. I will remind you that the greatest villains of the 20th century were not religious fanatics as you identify them, but atheists. Indeed atheists are the greatest of all religious fanatics because they are so intent upon stamping out all other beliefs as ‘opiates of the people.’

The fact that Romney is a Mormon is not a big issue to any of the conservatives I have talked to. The liberals are the ones who always bring it up to me. The fact is that most of Huckleberry’s votes would be going to Romney and not McCain if he would just drop out.

Mr. Headcase,

I’m touched that you’re glad I’m alive. Just playing around. I have a problem with that particular grammar issue. Nice of you to volunteer for the post of grammar policeman, but you should be careful, because now if you make ONE grammar mistake, well, you know.

You know that Marx phrase when you look at more of the quote, it sounds a little bit different:

“Religious suffering is, at one and the same time, the expression of real suffering and a protest against real suffering. Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opiate of the people.”

You can interpret that in many different ways.

But, you’re right (see, I’m trying really hard to correct the your/you’re thing) - I shouldn’t have called Romney, “The Mormon.” My bad, and my apologies.

Don’t you think it’s kind of rude to call Huckabee, Huckleberry though? I mean, come on, if we are going to be all politically correct here, we may as well, play the same for everyone.

For example, in MSNBC’s Oct. 30 presidential debate, Mr. Obama hesitantly raised his hand and joined with most of his Democratic rivals to declare he opposed decriminalizing marijuana.

But as a U.S. Senate candidate, Mr. Obama told Illinois college students in January 2004 he supported eliminating criminal penalties for marijuana use or possession, a debate video shows.

“I think we need to rethink and decriminalize our marijuana laws,” Mr. Obama said during a debate at Northwestern University. “But I’m not somebody who believes in legalization of marijuana.”

When confronted with the statements on the video, Obama’s campaign offered two explanations to The Times in less than 24 hours. At first, Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor said the candidate had “always” supported decriminalizing marijuana, suggesting that his 2004 statement was correct. Then after The Times posted copies of the video on its Web site, www.washingtontimes.com, yesterday, his campaign reversed course and declared he does not support eliminating criminal penalties for marijuana possession and use.

Hey dimwit. Quick question. Which country do we get more of our oil from, Canada or Iraq?

Follow up questions…

Which is greater, the profit on a bottle of water at QT, or the profit on a gallon of gas at QT?

Which does the government collect more tax dollars on and what % of the price is that?

Which other companies outside of Exxon and Mobil posted record profits last year/quarter? Was the war for them too?

In a 2003 forum on health care, Mr. Obama said he supported the children of illegal aliens’ receiving the same benefits as citizens, “whether it’s medical, whether it’s in-state tuition.” Asked specifically whether he included “undocumented” people, Mr. Obama replied, “Absolutely.”

But in a CNN debate Jan. 21, when Mr. Obama was asked whether his health care proposal covers illegal aliens, he said “no” and that he first wants to cover the U.S. citizens and legal residents without health care.

However, he stopped short of calling for an end to the embargo in a Miami Herald op-ed in August. He said he would rely on diplomacy, with a message that if a post-Fidel Castro government made democratic changes, the U.S. “is prepared to take steps to normalize relations and ease the embargo.”

“Senator Obama has consistently said that U.S. policy toward Cuba has failed,” Mr. Vietor said.

That was quite the debate last night. The only issue they discussed in any detail was one that they both said was an extremely complex one that they had both arrived at multiple different positions on until they ultimately arrived at what they call their final position on this intricate and impossible situation. Hillary came down against it and Barack came down for it.

Was it nuclear proliferation, international geopolitics, economic liberty, government reform, runaway entitlement programs, etc???

No, it was drivers licenses for illegal aliens. Now if that’s a decision they they have to struggle over for months do you really want one of them to be the leader of the free world?

A) The federal government isn’t even in the drivers license business

and

B) It seems like a no brainer that you wouldn’t extend rights of citizenship to criminal aliens.

Hillary also came to her no license decision for a very bizarre reason that neither Obama or the panel questioned her about. She said giving them licenses would make them more subject to being caught.

Too bad the front runner on our side is a power hungry, lying, back stabber that I could never and would never vote for. Let’s hope Republicans come to their senses this Tuesday.

Super Tuesday and the Superbowl. The term “super” is a relic of the excesses of the 60’s. Everything was super this and super that. Actually it was the Superball that the superbowl was named for. The superball was a new rubber ball that could bounce really high, and it completely stupified America.

I propose a new term, the Uberbowl for the Superbowl. I spent the sixties in Germany where everything was “Germany Uber Alles”, (Which roughly translated means: Deutchland over all + Ucan2)

Dont forget to vote on Uber Tuesday. A new comic book called “Uberman” would be a groove. Uber-duber would replace “super dooper”. Well, you get the idea.

More Negative Mail From The Obama Campaign, Another Misleading Attack On Hillary. Hillary never read the classified NIE on Iraq WMD

Sen. Clinton explained to Tim Russert, “I was fully briefed by the people who wrote the NIE. I was briefed by the people from, you know, the State Department, the CIA, the Department of Defense.” Sen. John Kerry, a supporter of the Obama campaign, echoed these sentiments saying, “I didn’t read the full report because I got it from them straight.”

The Obama campaign also fails to mention that news outlets have reported that only a handful of senators chose to read the classified NIE, rather than rely on in person briefing by its authors. A number of those who say they read the NIE, including Sens. Rockefeller (D-WV) and Feinstein (D-CA), also voted for the war authorization.

ML,

You really caught the essence of Rudy…his sneer. He assumes people think he is smiling.

Rudy really thinks of himself as a “hero”. If he had been born a few hundred years ago, he might have been a foppish French king.

If we examine his youth we would most likely find a mafioso wanna-be. But the bigger kids beat him up and he lost all the street cred he needed to shake anyone down for their lunch money.

What a pathetic sidenote to history.

That whole riff was a parody of the 2000 Florida debacle where Democrats kept insisting that they had to magically divine the intent of the voter and the excuse they used was that nobody would bother to go the polls in a Presidential election year and not vote for President. There are lot’s of books and papers on the subject if you want to educate yourself.

In any case it was a patently absurd argument and they knew it. Anybody that’s ever worked a grass roots get out the vote campaign knows that there are quite a large number of people that always go vote for their local candidates but don’t feel they’re qualified to vote for President. It’s easy to pretend that isn’t true, but it is.

Poll: Al Franken Ahead In Minnesota Senate Race!

By Eric Kleefeld - February 1, 2008, 10:30AM

We’re taking a step back from our focus on presidential race coverage to bring this piece of news: For the first time ever, Al Franken is ahead of Sen. Norm Coleman (R-MN) in an opinion poll.

The survey conducted by the University of Minnesota puts Franken at 43% to Coleman’s 40%, hardly a good sign for the incumbent. Previous polls all gave Coleman the lead, initially a wide one when Franken declared, but eventually a much narrower one.

Manufacturers, construction firms and a variety of professional and business services eliminated jobs in January — reflecting the toll of the housing and credit debacles!!!!!!!-Yahoo BS “News”}}}}}

Waaaahhhhhhh, the sky is falling, the sky is falling!!

Uh, buried deep down at the bottom:

{{{{The 17,000 drop was in total payrolls — both government and private employers — in January. The government sliced 18,000 positions, while private employers added just 1,000 jobs.}}}}

Can you believe the pinko distortion attempt trying to mask that the government cut 18,000 jobs?

One thing I find interesting is how we treat politians and what they say. I’m seeing postings here about how Obama said something 4 years ago on healthcare or Clinton said ‘this’ about the war or McCain said ‘that’ about whatever. So all of us, and that includes the media, pick apart politicans for something they said years ago but then out of the other side of OUR mouths we want all politians to take a stand on something and say so. Do you see a double standard here? Do you think we’re making it impossible for a politican to say anything? Maybe that explains why they are so loath to commit on a topic because they know they’ll never be allowed to change their mind. How sad that we do this to the very people we expect to run all of the different levels of government in this country. No wonder politics is all messed up in the country.

So the always delightful Ms. Coulter will support Sen. Clinton over Sen. McCain. What a hoot!

Apparently, she has not yet read the memo - her and her ilk are just about totally irrelevant now. You can put a fork in her brand of politics and slimy pals. Republican “conservatism”, well actually the b******* and incompetent version delivered by Ronnie, Newt and George, is almost officially dead. And not nearly soon enough for this voter.

Worse for Ann, she probably actually sends American voters towards McCain by taking that position. But then intractability and righteous anger is usually more important to these demented extremists on the distant right fringe than reason and results.

I always sensed the girl wasn’t very smart. Or honest. And now the laughter at her kind is building to a roar!

RB,

Seriously, when have you EVER posted factual evidence on this blog? Factual evidence is actual data, not just your word that something is true. Even then, it has to come from a reliable source and not some right wing windbag rag. Reliability simply means the data can be replicated, not that its just something you agree with - AND, it has to be relevant to the point, that’s called validity.

Another question for you:

Why do you assume that when anyone ever comments about profits, that they suffer from class envy?

I think class envy is something waaaaaayyyyy down on N-GA’s list.

Two More Reps Endorse Obama!

Oberstar, Blumenauer back Obama By Aaron Blake Posted: 02/01/08 12:19 PM [ET] Reps. Jim Oberstar (D-Minn.) and Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.) endorsed Sen. Barack Obama for president Friday, adding two more House endorsements to the quickly rising total of the Illinois Democrat.

“This week helped me make up my mind between two great candidates – that I was going to be supporting Sen. Obama,” Blumenauer said.

Oberstar, the 17-term chairman of the House Transportation Committee, had initially endorsed former Sen. John Edwards (D-N.C.), who has dropped out of the race.

Reps. John Larson (D-Conn.), Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and Earl Pomeroy (D-N.D.) all announced their backing for Obama on Thursday. Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-Calif.) endorsed him on Wednesday. All of their states except Oregon will vote Tuesday in the so-called “national primary.”

Here’s your socialist liberal government at work:

{{{{For Party leaders, battling the natural disasters that regularly befall the vast country is a chance to reinforce the need for top-down rule. Floods in 1998 and other calamities provided opportunities for similar propaganda drives.}}}}

{{{{“When one place suffers misfortune, aid comes from all directions,” said the official People’s Daily. “That is the traditional virtue of the Chinese nation and even more it is a vivid portrait of the superiority of the socialist system.”}}}}

Yeah, “superiority:”

{{{{More than 60 people have died, including 25 on Tuesday in a bus crash on an icy mountain road. The snow had lasted 19 days in the central province of Hubei, “almost the worst in a century,” the Xinhua news agency said.}}}}

Where’s “global warming” when we need it?

{{{{ About 11.2 million workers in Guangdong had given up hope of returning for next week’s holiday — often the only bright spot in a year of hard work for low pay — due to the massive traffic snarls, officials there said.}}}}

{{{{“I’ve waited three days here already and it looks like I may not be able to get home in time for the Lunar New Year,” said a migrant worker outside Guangzhou’s main train station.}}}}

Ahh, a veritable “Katrina” set to some rousing state music and speakers blaring propaganda.

Hey, at least they aren’t shooting the travelers in the back of the head.

Yet.

Native American Times Endorses Obama!

US Senator Barack Obama is the choice of the Native American Times to become the next president of the United States. This choice made before the all important super Tuesday election to get as many Native Americans to the polls as possible to push Obama to victory. This is not an anti-Hillary vote but a decision based on what is best for Native Americans.

Alaska will be caucusing; Colorado with the Ute Nation and large Native urban populations will have a primary; the Nez Perce will be voting in the all Democratic caucuses; The Kickapoo, and Prairie Band Potawatomi will be voting in the Kansas Caucuses; The Dakota and Ojibwa people will be voting in Minnesota’s Primaries; Republican Crows, Northern Cheyenne, Blackfeet, Cree and others will be voting in Montana’s caucuses; the Pueblos, Navajos, and Apaches will be voting in New Mexico Primaries; the Seneca, Onondaga, Oneida, Cayuga and other tribes will voting in New York’s primaries; In North Dakota the three Affiliated tribes, Devil’s Lake Sioux, Standing Rock Sioux and Turtle Mountain Chippewa will be voting in their caucuses; Oklahoma with their over 300,000 Indians and over 30 federally recognized tribes will be heading to the polls for their primary; in Utah the Navajo, Ute’s, Shoshone, Paiutes and Goshute tribes will vote in their primaries. Over 1 million Indians will be voting on Super Tuesday and they can have a deciding say in who is the next president of the United States. And one man seems to know and care about that fact.

Obama has started to aggressively reach out to Native Americans in word and deed. In his words he has put together a policy which truly addresses Native problems. In his deeds he has actually gone to Indian reservations to seek our votes. He is also the co-sponsor of the all important Indian Health Care Improvement Act. And he continues to seek the Native vote.

As he explains it, he says he understands to be treated differently and unfairly. Part of the change he proposes is one of justice and equality. He is also proposing sweeping changes in health care for Native Americans that include mental health. While the economy is the driving issue on the national stage its ‘Health Stupid,’ in Indian Country. People are dying too soon, babies are not making it to adulthood, and diabetes is robbing our way of life in ways never imagined. It’s hard to worry about the paycheck when you are too sick to go anyway.<

Feb 1, 2008 12:27 PM Complete MoveOn Endorsement Info Breaking: Moveon Members Endorses Obama 71-29 by: Matt Stoller Fri Feb 01, 2008 at 05:49:04 AM EST

In a resounding vote today, MoveOn.org Political Action’s members nationwide voted to endorse Senator Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination for President. The group, with 3.2 million members nation-wide and over 1.7 million members in Super Tuesday states, will immediately begin to mobilize on behalf of Senator Obama. The vote favored Senator Obama to Senator Clinton by 70.4% to 29.6%.

Senator Obama accepted the endorsement stating:

“”In just a few years, the members of MoveOn have once again demonstrated that real change comes not from the top-down, but from the bottom-up. From their principled opposition to the Iraq war - a war I also opposed from the start - to their strong support for a number of progressive causes, MoveOn shows what Americans can achieve when we come together in a grassroots movement for change. I thank them for their support and look forward to working with their members in the weeks and months ahead.”

Eli Pariser, MoveOn.org’s Executive Director, issued the following statement on the group’s endorsement:

“Our members’ endorsement of Senator Obama is a clear call for a new America at this critical moment in history. Seven years of the disastrous policies of the Bush Administration have left the country desperate for change. We need a President who will bring to bear the strong leadership and vision required to end the war in Iraq, provide health care to every American, deal with our climate crisis, and restore America’s standing in the world. The enormity of the challenges require someone who knows how to inspire millions to get involved to change the direction of our country, and someone who will be willing to change business as usual in Washington. Senator Barack Obama has proved he can and will be that President.”

“With 3.2 million members nationwide and over 1.7 million members in states that vote next Tuesday, we’ll be able to immediately jump into action in support of Senator Obama’s candidacy. We’ve learned that the key to achieving change in Washington without compromising core values is having a galvanized electorate to back you up. And Barack Obama has our members ‘fired up and r

Chicago Sun Times Endorsement Why Obama gets our vote A candidate who is right for America

February 1, 2008

On June 5, 1986, the curiously poetic name of Barack Obama appeared in the Chicago Sun-Times for the first time. Obama, new to us but presenting himself as a “community organizer” on the South Side, was quoted in a news story calling on Mayor Harold Washington to get asbestos out of a public housing project.

Obama was right about that one — the poisonous asbestos had to go — and perhaps we should have weighed in at the time with a strong editorial. It is the job of a newspaper — especially this newspaper — to stand with the powerless against the powerful.

And so today, as we mark the 60th birthday of our newspaper, it is a special pleasure to give Obama this newspaper’s endorsement in Tuesday’s Illinois Democratic presidential primary. Because we believe he’s right again.

Obama is right on the issues, right in daring us to believe in a goodness greater than ourselves, and right in having the confidence to appeal to all of us as one America.

Obama has the power of a celebrity’s charisma and the grounding of a common man’s birth.

There’s been talk of Camelot in the last few days. Back then, that young president said to us:

“Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.”

And once, we had another great leader, who said, “I have a dream.”

Americans took them at their word. They joined the Peace Corps. They marched on Selma. They protested a pointless war.

We need a president and a leader like that again.

Remember, in 1960, voters chose John F. Kennedy, whose own vision was sketchy yet promising, whose political track record was largely as a senator. The country still mourns that unrealized dream of Camelot.

Significantly, the Kennedy family can see the promise that is Obama:

“I want a president who … appeals to the hopes of those who still believe in the American Dream, and those around the world who still believe in the American ideal; and who can lift our spirits, and make us believe again that our country needs every one of us to get involved,” said Caroline Kennedy, JFK’s 50-year-old daughter.

Call us shameless idealists, but that sounds right on to us.

Obama has been op

Primary Endorsement: Barack Obama Although Hillary Clinton might be the natural choice for Yalies, Obama—wise, brilliant and innovative in his conception of the presidency—is the natural choice for the nation

Published Friday, February 1, 2008

It would seem natural for us to endorse Hillary Clinton for president.

She attended Yale Law School — the roots of the Clintonian dynasty are here in New Haven — and left an accomplished and well liked alumna. She has led an inspiring career of public service since.

And indeed, we are grateful for the past 18 years of Eli representation in the Oval Office. Four, or eight, more sounds nice enough.

But the time has come to abdicate Yalie rule over America, at least for now. The past three United States presidents — George H. W. Bush ’48, Bill Cinton LAW ’73 and George W. Bush ’68 — had their strengths. But in the end, they were good presidents (if that) — and not great ones. Too often, they behaved like politicians — and not leaders.

Hillary Clinton LAW ’73 is of the same breed. To endorse her would be to endorse intelligence and preparedness, but also divisiveness and the politics of manipulation. And, as it seems of late, it would be to endorse Bill Clinton, with his own baggage and questionable campaign tactics to boot.

So we turn instead to an honest, and brilliant, man who represents his actual home state in the U.S. Senate, has more years of elected experience than Clinton and gave so many of us chills with his speech at the 2004 Democratic National Convention. His Harvard Law degree notwithstanding, Democrats across Connecticut and the nation should embrace Barack Obama as the next president of the United States on Tuesday.

So many at Yale have done just that.

Take Thursday night. Dozens filed into the Branford College Common Room to watch the Democratic debate. Their eyes locked on the screen when Obama spoke. He seemed genuine. He probably was. Across the street, city politicians and students gathered at the Af-Am House to share, and spread, his vision.

Still lingering, though, is the question of substance. Too often asserted is the notion that one should run for the presidency with a crystal-clear, unchanging slate of party-line policy initiatives. With Obama’s candidacy, however, comes an opportunity to correct this flawed conception of the chief executive as a glorified policy wonk. Our legislative system, after all, is desig

Three weeks later, Bush is taking another stroll, this time with Karl Rove. They see the little girl again with the same basket. Bush says, “Watch this, Karl? It’s really cute.” They approach the little girl. Bush greets her and asks how the kittens are doing, and she says, “Fine.” Then, smirking, he nudges Rove with his elbow and asks the little girl, “And can you tell us what kind of kittens they are?” She replies, “Democrats.” Aghast, Bush says, “But three weeks ago you said they were Republicans!” “I know,” she says. “But now their eyes are open.”

The fact you don’t know what communism is could be part of the problem we have here. Here’s a definition from Webster for you.

“a system of social organization in which all ——>economic<—— and social activity is controlled by a totalitarian state dominated by a single and self-perpetuating political party.”

Sounds a lot like what you want for those mean old oil companies making too much profit. Waaaaaaa. Didn’t Hillary say she was going to get the price of oil lowered? Did she say anything about controlling the price the oil companies charge consumers too? Surely the all powerful Hillary won’t stop at the price of a barrel of oil and will dictate the price at the pump too, right?

It amazes me how a bunch of people who have so much and are so blessed (by God) to live in a nation as prosperous as this one can whine so much when everything isn’t handed to them on a silver platter. Go work for it or quit whining.

Greenjeans,

tough to chose a party sometimes. I always wanted more of a parlimentary system, you know where they have 10 or 12 parties to choose from and then they form thier own coalitions on different issues.

Fiscal responsibility is something lost in electoral politics, it has been reduced down to the phrase “tax cuts” And the average person is infurated by the tax rate they pay, but blind when dollar devaluation and inflation picks more of thier pocket than any tax rate. The nest egg might have the same number of dollars in it, they just but a lot less.

I would like to see any proposed budget deficit proposed in congress to include the funding for the intrest they will incur in the next years budget attached to it. I figure the 4 trillion run up over the last 6 years comes in somewhere around 250 billion dollars each year in added expense for each budget.

Saffron doesn’t have to be a luxury. It’s used in small amounts. Cost per serving for many recipes is quite low. Plus, if you use powdered saffron you can use a third to a half of what’s called for. Start with a third. I speak from experience.

Powdered from good-quality (red) saffron is indistinguishable from threads. Also,it does not need to be steeped before use.

A half ounce powdered will last a long, long time. A source for excellent quality is at:

RB,

What you present on an almost daily basis here is opinion, until you provide the intended audience with source material.

However, most data is collected and simply sits there until it is analyzed where the bias comes to play and collected by those who are trying to prove something scientifically. Data is analyzed however you or others may want it. Very rarely have I seen actual “facts” on this blog. It’s something we all claim to produce, but true facts are very rare.

A true fact is something like Jupiter is the biggest planet in our solor system, or the Earth is 7/8ths water, that is something that is pretty much agreed upon by all, so therefore a fact in its most general sense.

Look in the mirror RB before you start making claims that I or anyone else here only provide “facts” that fit our biased opinions. Everyone here has biased opinions.

Paul is absolutely right in his 4:48. Paul is conservative but has a very nice way of presenting his point in a non-threatening way.

Nice cat analogy - you couldn’t be more correct, well except for the Democrat part. But still, nice analogy.

We all get a little wound up sometimes now don’t we? It’s human nature.

RW-(the original)

My experience is he doesn’t lead with that. You don’t either.

I’ll have to ask him sometime - is it inconsistent to be opposed to preemptive war but be a staunch advocate of massive retaliation?

Interesting points this morning about sitting out the national vote. Given the power blocks that exist in Congress and their ability to ignore or greatly change Presidential proposals, are McCain’s positions such that even given that consideration you could not vote for him?

He said he heard loud and clear from the citizenry and wants to secure borders before deciding how to handle those already here.

Further campaign finance reforms are likely not in the offing. I still think much of his action, as I’ve noted, was driven by his experience in being up against a huge war chest. But if he gets in, it really won’t affect him any more.

His no torture stand? Including waterboarding? Understandable from his experience. But he was in a society that tortured because they enjoyed it. That used it as a means of punishment. Far, far after the North Vietnamese were sure there was nothing left to give, they tortured.

Plus, that position separated him from the pack. I don’t think he did it from political calculation, but that was the effect.

So given that people quite often act much differently politically than they have in the past, sometimes radically so (our current President is a fine example) - are you sure you couldn’t pull the lever for McCain?

RW,

Sorry, used the wrong word I think, not analogy, but nice cat anecdote? Hell, I don’t know what I meant, but the cat story was funny. Cats can also provide additional heat which in my old drafty house is an added bonus.

Totally righteous. I’m with you!

I was just about to write that when your post popped up. LOL!

Your true self is revealed. You are a moonbat…

Maybe getalife will share some 42 Below in a celebratory toast?

Every so often I’ve offered to examine particular issues to illustrate to some of the farfarfarfar left bloggers that on some issues that I could be in favor of, they’d oppose, illustrating they’re really extreme conservatives. At least on some issues. Never a taker. Ah well, if someone doesn’t want to bust their comfort zone that’s for them to decide. I can but offer.

Paul,

I guess it’s all in what your definition of leading with it is. When he used to post here more regularly he would come in guns blazing and then blame it on some other day. It really doesn’t matter to me, but when relative newbies like Bosch start to lecture others on how nice and level headed another poster is it’s worth remembering that it’s not always the case.

As for McCain, there’s not a chance in hell I would EVER vote for him under ANY circumstances and I’ve consistently held that position for years. I’ll let Jackie Mason explain the most recent reason.

Kind of long but he captures my feelings toward the end.

All he’s heard loud and clear is that he needs to say he’ll secure the border if he wants the nomination. He’ll start with that sanctimonious “my friends” we just can’t do it for XYZ reasons if he ever gets in the White House. BTW, when you here McCain say “”my friend/s”” you can bet you’ve just been lied to.

McCain/Feingold is an assault on our individual rights and is meant to protect the insiders in Washington. McCain /Kennedy was to grant blanket amnesty to millions and exacerbate the problem. The gang of fourteen was a power grab to against the Executive Branch and if a Democrat is elected I would still support a simple majority for judicial confirmation because I believe that’s what’s meant by advice and consent.

I could go but you’ve probably gathered how I feel by now. :-)

Thanks for the advice Paul and Bosch, I’ll try to engage the liberals with a more pleasant tone next time.

However, I was having a discussion with the rarely cordial Truthman earlier today when our very pleasant blogger N-GA insterted himself into the discussion with the following:

{{{The stuttering blogger is DEFINITELY NOT smarter than a 5th grade.}}}

His first post of the day.

Now I won’t disagree with you that I should attempt to use a more cordial tone, but don’t give me this crap about N-GA being some kind of a blogging saint. How’s that evidence for you, Bosch? Or do you think that’s merely my “opinion” of what N-GA posted.

To the fact issue, Bosch, I’m still at a loss for your insistance I don’t provide facts. The data posted at 12:53 is a link to the source that gives data of US oil production for many years. Are you arguing the validity of the numbers or what? I don’t get what you need to understand the reasoning TM presented earlier is false as shown by the facts. There’s no opinion involved in that. It’s the facts. What more do you want?

Hey wingbats: There really isn’t a candidate you like in the race is there? Do you realize what a disconnect with this country that represents? The GOP isn’t for america or the american people, they are for themselves, and as such, should be considered cucarachas and stepped on. Squackle.

I’ve got writers block and Kochblock. (the worst of all possible worlds). I havent’ had a good idea in a month. Of course neither have any of you. You know, we all listen to Rushannity. SO we don’t have to read your hacked lipsynch. I listen so that I know what the other side thinks the issues are. I think it’s the duty of any blogger to listen to both sides and see how the language is being formed about the issues and the candidates. But that doesn’t excuse word4word hackery. You guys need to go stick your heads in the toilet, especially RW, but all of you certainly haven’t written one worthwhile phrase in six months. You’re hacks. The worst kind. Take a break. What Still Bugs Me About Barack

Having tried to go head to head with her on whose health care plan is best, Obama was reduced to trotting out his big-gun endorsement. “You know, Ted Kennedy said that he is confident that we will get universal health care with me as president,” Obama said. “And he’s been working on it longer than, I think, anybody.”

Which was Obama’s way of saying: Nyah-nyah-nyah.
