Yep, like putting lipstick on a pig.

No matter what color you choose, it’s still a pig.

~~~~~~~
It hadn’t rained in Atlanta for three weeks. Sonny prayed. That afternoon, rain fell into the Lake Lanier watershed. Last night, Atlanta Metro got a half of an inch.
Why do I have a feeling that this won’t be proof enough for the God hating dimwit liberals?
Thank you Sonny.
~~~~~~

Democrats know absolutely nothing about warfare:

{{{{The government has not decided whether to prosecute Blackwater Worldwide bodyguards for the Sept. 16 shooting of 17 Iraqi civilians, several law enforcement officials said Wednesday. The officials spoke in response to reports that the FBI has concluded that the shootings of ——>14 of the 17<—— victims were an unjustified use of deadly force.-Urinal}}}}

So three were justified and there was a threat to the convoy, eh? It wasn’t just marauding Americans driving around looking for innocent children to slaughter for kicks, like the Code Pinkos said?

And why is there no acrimony towards the three terrorists that chose to conduct an ambush among innocent civilians?

Are you libs on their side?

~~~~~~~
Democrats playing games with our troop safety:
{{{{The legislation, passed 218-203, was largely a symbolic jab at Bush, who already has begun reducing force levels but opposes a congressionally mandated timetable on the war. And while the measure was unlikely to pass in the Senate —- let alone overcome a veto —- Democrats said they wanted voters to know they weren’t giving up.-Urinal}}}}
Giving up on what, an Al Qaeda victory over the United States?
What silly, stupid little POS.
Beautiful caricature of Hillary, Lucko!
Hillary is always making sure she appeals to “mainstream” sensibilities and therefore she will draw many Repug women voters into her camp, if she is selected by the Dems for the General Election. After all, who on the Repug slate has shown any interest in promoting issues that are important to educated women voters?
Go Hillary. It is great to see so many of your haters in the press and on the so-called news channels. Just goes to show what type of people live in this country. Do the haters hate because you are a woman? Do the haters hate because you are married to Bill? Or do these people just plain ole hate for hate’s sack?
Yep, the Dems support victory for the U.S. by bringing our combat troops outta Bush’s occupation of choice. After all, our combat mission in Iraq has been over for almost 5 years now. All that is left to do there is for the democratically elected gov’t to stand itself up and start leading their own people into their own future.
Imagine how the U.S. would have felt if FRANCE, our main ally during the war against the Brits, had occupied our country 5 years after we had won the war — there would’ve been an American insurgency to remove the FRENCH from our soil!!! Instead, we Americans started working out our own future for ourselves and the French KNEW that their work was done here.
It’s a shame that Bush has never studied American history enough to know these things.
By Luckoduh
Now, with the surge in Iraq working, Democrats are completely demoralized. Al-Qaida was counting on them. We know the surge in Iraq is working because it is no longer front page news.
{{{{In a tape released in early September, Osama bin Laden bitterly complained, “You elected the Democratic Party for this purpose” — of ending the war in Iraq — “but the Democrats haven’t made a move worth mentioning.”}}}}
{{{{Musharraf has declared emergency rule in Pakistan, shut down the media and sent Supreme Court justices home. What’s not to like about a guy who orders policemen to beat up lawyers? I bet he has a good plan on illegal immigration, too.}}}}
~~~~~~

{{{{There should be one more participant, a man who won’t mince words about the Age of Aquarius—Nicolas Sarkozy, the new president of France. When Mr. Sarkozy was campaigning in April against the Socialist Ségolène Royal, he said: “In this election, it is a question of whether the heritage of May ‘68 should be perpetuated or if it should be liquidated once and for all.” He described the political Left born out of that period as “cynical” and “immoral.”}}}}

To say the least.

Blah, blah, blah.

Is idiocy not a common trait among Code Pinkos overwhelmed by their stupid emotions?

America is fighting against and achieving victory over foreign terrorists in Iraq, assorted scumbags from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, Iran, Chechnya, Egypt and all the other breeding grounds of virulent hatred of freedom and slavish adherence to a false religion that oppresses women, uses rape as a punishment, slaughters innocent women and children, kills homosexuals, shoots people for selling “male” and “female” vegetables at the same vending table.

In other words, as always, America stands for human freedom, as we have all through our history.

And to be maligned by some dimwit like Golduh is the ultimate in irresponsibility, to shelter your stupid, filthy little mouth within the safety and freedom of America and have the nerve to spread lies and pervert Code Pinko propaganda about those who risk everything to keep this country free.

FYI to Mike @8:20am… People dont hate Hillary. We dont trust Hillary. She doesn’t have any experience as a leader. Besides, when she is pressed on her views, she trys to be on both sides on the issue. Additionally, when she was asked questions about her role during the Clinton presidency, her answered ranged from; ” I dont recall, I’m not sure about that, I dont have any recollection of that being the case.” These are the same statements you would never hear from a true leader.

Hillary. Tell me what you think. I may just vote for you.

Looks like Sonny needs to call out for the Native Americans who can perform a rain dance these days — his prayer vigil was woefully inadequate. Maybe north GA is being punished by Sonny’s vengeful God because of his lack of meaningful leadership:

While almost all of metro Atlanta got some rain, most rainfall totals were only around a 1/4 to 3/4-inch - not nearly enough to put a dent in the drought.

I have said it before. If Hillary is the Democratic nominee I will support her fully.

But she is not my first choice.

Why?

Mike captures it in today’s toon. She does vacillate.

I’m not sure where you draw the line between listening to the people/polls and standing your ground on an issue. If she listens to the polls she’s accused of pandering. If she doesn’t she’s accused of being an elitist.

Sounds a bit like damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

Certainly, Romney and Guiliani are equally as guilty of vacillation. There’s been lots of flip-flop press on both of them. They are in the same situation.

How much listening do we want our candidates to do? Who should they listen too? Can they admit to shortsightedness and change position?

It is a puzzlement.

Hillary alone is qualified, among all the candidates of the top tier in both parties, to be president. But the real question is: will she do the bidding of the Israel Lobby and attack Iran? Or will she drag the Israelis kicking and screaming to the peace table? That is what needs to be done or we whall have a middle east war much worse than the Iraq war. I think Hillary may be able to do this. Bill did not always give in to the Israeli Right wing the way Bush has.

Not only is Hillary an old bag but she’s got baggage. On her latest flop to flip-licenses for illegal immigrants:

{{{{The other candidates had more time to compose an answer, so they were spared the embarrassment. It was the pummeling she received from Barack Obama and John Edwards during and after that debate (and from moderator Tim Russert) that brought her husband, former president Bill Clinton, into the campaign, with the charge, as he put it, that “those boys have been getting tough on her lately.”}}}}

{{{{The former president’s intervention — volunteered during a campaign appearance on her behalf in South Carolina — raised the second, and largely unspoken, issue identified by my friend from the Clinton administration: the two-headed campaign and the prospect of a dual presidency.}}}}

{{{{In his view, which I share, this is a prospect that will test the tolerance of the American people far more severely than the possibility of the first female president — or, for that matter, the first black president.}}}}

{{{{As my friend says, “there is nothing in American constitutional or political theory to account for the role of a former president, still energetic and active and full of ideas, occupying the White House with the current president.”}}}}

{{{{No precedent exists for such an arrangement, and no ground rules have been — or probably can be — written. When Bill Clinton was president, the large policy enterprise that was entrusted to the first lady — health-care reform — crashed in ruins.}}}} as will Hillary’s chances to become president.

That having been said, as a conservative I want Hillary to win the dem nomination. The Bush dynasty made their way into politics first. The American public will not accept a Clinton dynasty in its wake.

This country will elect a Republican president in ‘08. NDAI!

Just like you, bosch@10:56

I would not give up my citizenship. I’d be a true patriot with DUAL citizenship. You can tell us how that works and still be a loyal citizen to both. Don’t skip over it, bosch. Explain it. BOSCH HAS DUAL CITIZENSHIP.

Actually, I wouldn’t really go to Canada. Somebody might think I was acting like a liberal!

Dusty I implore you to reconsider that move to Canada. Did you know they have gay marriage there. If thats the reason you are moving there in the first place let me tell you something that may change your mind.

My Church has a gay conversion therapy program. We can get you converted for about $50,000.00- American. (If you prefer Canadian dollars that works even better.)

That reminds me, My church is hosting another anti-gay march on the steps of the Capitol. Go to www.prophetCenter.com to find out how to help.

Dusty,

You can figure that out for yourself. I don’t help unpatriotic cowards who would move to another country based solely on the fact they didn’t like our president.

Especially when you spend day in and day out calling us libs unpatriotic scum bags who help support the terrorist because we don’t like Bush and all that other garbage you spew constantly. At least we are still here fighting for the preservation of our Constitution!

You can’t back track now. Try if you must, but you said it - you would move to Canada just because you don’t like whose president. My, my Dusty.

BOSCH WILL NOT TELL US ABOUT HIS DUAL CITIZENSHIP.

bosch, I have never called anyone a scumbag. That is your type of language. And I would never move to Canada. That was a sarcastic reflection of liberal behavior. Unlike you, I will never have dual citizenship. Just the USA for me.

I do think liberals like you undermine the country. You have called our elected President a “traitor”. You have spoken against the war in Iraq which works against our military. Such things are not said by a patriotic citizen. Because the President makes choices YOU do not like, does not make him a “traitor”.

You continue to make such statements and then proclaim your great patriotism. Doesn’t work, buddy. You have a right to say them but it portrays your anti-American feelings.

If you want to insult people many times, you better get use to receiving the same. It works both ways.

I imagine anyone strongly against dual citizenship has not lived in another country. Just a guess.

Hey, what is going on with the GOP candidates lately?

Fred thompson is rapidly approaching footnote status after his much hyped enterance into the race.

Huckabee was supposed to be a throwaway candidate, and is now getting some traction.

McCain was supposed to be done months ago, and now after taking a look at everyone else running, voters are starting to come back to him, I guess level headed policy and an actual record of serving his country is appealing, even to republicans.

Romney is still funding his own race, sinking a bunch of his own money into it. I swear this guy is the closest to the politician refered to in the “omen” than anyone else. He will say anything to get elected, he looks like he came from central casting, and he is the son of satan.

Gotta love guliani. GWB has combined the economic accumen of Carter with the integrity of Nixon. Guliani is going to have the foriegn policy of GWB along with the checkered personal life of bill clinton. Any bets on him announcing his next divorce during a state of the union?

And how about that Ron Paul. He was supposed to be washed out and the joke of the field, and now he is running 4th or 5th in the races, and outpacing most candidates in fundraising. This guy gets demonized by the GOP establishment, but he is the only real “strict constructionist” constitutional candidate that has been run since Thomas Jefferson.

What are you talking about?

How can I keep in touch with the dead?

I never said I had a family member die in the World Trade Center. Show me where you think I said this.

There is a big difference between having friend die in the WTC and a family member die fighting for the freedom of others in Iraq, I totally agree with you.

My friend’s death was an unspeakable abomination, children were on that plane, all he did wrong was show up for work that day, he did absolutely nothing to deserve what ever it was that happened to him.

“Your” “son” volunteered for his service, as I once did, and unless you are trying to tell us he was stupid, he knew EXACTLY what that service meant. I know a lot of veterans and to a man, every single one of them understood completely that they could lose their lives and still chose to risk everything because they believed in freedom and they believe in the greatness of the United States and they knew that none of this came without a price and that others had valiantly paid that price before them.

To use his death and his brave service to demean their mission, to use it to surrender the Iraqi people to the Islamic slave masters, scumbags that will murder them, is a selfish, disgusting way to belittle and slander his honorable sacrifice.

But since you are a lying POS liberal and not a “gold star mother,” I used your BS fake post as a wonderful opportunity to expand on a few thoughts and I thank you for the providing me the opening.

In my intermittent visits to the blog, I look for particularly insightful and intelligent things to comment upon. Since Luck is able to take time out his very important schedule to make sure to be first blogger every single day, I usually don’t have to go far before finding something particularly remarkable. (Some may suggest that his ability to be first everyday suggests that he must be a loser with no life, but who am I too say that this behavior is sad enough to use the term ‘loser.’) Anyway, today I found this gem from Luck:

“Democrats know absolutely nothing about warfare.”

I agree completely. Dick Cheney learned all he needed to know about warfare prior to getting 7 deferments. He found out that you could die and decided that it was better if someone else did that. Give him credit, that’s smart.

Bush learned all he needed to know by flying outdated planes on booze and cocaine. That’s a real challenge and one he certainly was up for. I’m sure that he would have rather done sorties over Hanoi but there was no guarantee that they’d give him the booze and cocaine.

Further, as implied by luck we have only been successful in foreign wars when republicans were in charge. I’m sure we all know that FDR was a raging right wing loony Republican when he whipped the Nazis and the Japs in 3.5 years. And of course, Woodrow Wilson was right of Attila the Hun when we were victorious in WWI.

Meanwhile a Democrat named Nixon was in cahrge when we left Vietnam in defeat. The only foreign war we’ve lost was when a lib occupied the White House.

Further the only large scale war that the Democrats were ever successful in was the so-called Civil War when that damn liberal democrat Lincoln tried to force his liberal social policies down the throats of the South. The only war the libs ever one was against their own people. It reminds me of that lib Herbert Hoover sending out the army to kill dozens and run off thousands of WWI veterans who were protesting at the Capital. Yeah the libs are only really good at killing other Americans.

Good research and grasp on history there Luck. You are as always an informed and brilliant individual.

Oh by the way can you tell us the tales of how the GOP stared down Kruschev during the Cuban Missle Crisis?

Also remind me of the GOP President who was in Office when we won each foreign war i

I know it makes you libs feel better about yourselves to call me names or to think your smarter than me because you can “only hit the post button once”, but next time you post, could you please tell me what’s not true about my 3:38 post. Wasn’t it one of your own fearless leaders in Washington who said if things improve in Iraq, “Well, then we have a problem”? It seems it’s not just my opinion now is it?

So, based on that logic, isn’t Gold Star’s son dying a good thing for your party? How do you look yourselves in the mirror…..

First and most obviously, the death of one our Servicemen is not a good thing for any party. That comment is gratuitous and petty. It reflects poorly on your character.

Whether or not the war in Iraq “improves” the reality of HOW we got there, WHY we got there and how INEPTLY it has been played out remains front and center.

A politcal party that could so readily involve us in a “vanity war” once, surely wouldn’t have a problem doing it again.

The American people now know this. The American people won’t have it.

The Iraq occupation will be a part of the election mix in 2008.

That will only be one of the ingredients.

For the largest number of people in this country, the economy SUX. There are only signs that it will continue to get SUCKIER (technical term). We see billions of dollars in outgo, and very little income. I predict this will be the big issue. HUGE.

We see all the children left behind by teaching to tests, rather than teaching social studies, geography, civics or critical thinking skills.

We see friends and neighbors losing their homes.

We see our mee-mee’s and paw-paw’s struggling to make the choice between medicine and food.

We see kids and adults who can’t afford to see a doctor.

We see failed CEO’s walking away with humongous golden parachutes and carpenters with no work.

Our fish are full or mercury. Our beef is full of hormones. Our tween girls are developing too early.

The canadian dollar is worth more than a good old american greenback.

We pay mercenaries 100G’s and grunts maybe 30?

Our injured servicemen are coming home to a nightmare.

What would George W. Bush and Dick Cheney be saying today if they were campaigning politicians running against a President Clinton (either one of them) who had outsourced our responsibility to retaliate against Osama bin Laden for his 9/11 attacks on our homeland?

“What would Karl Rove have been whipping up for Bush to say and what would Cheney (who needs no Roving ambassador) be saying on his own about a president from the other party who had chosen to allow al Qaeda’s leader to escape into Pakistan’s northern tribal areas of Islamic militancy? …

“What if the reason a President Clinton hadn’t teamed up to launch a joint military operation with Pakistan to capture bin Laden was that he/she had over-extended the U.S. military and gotten the troops pinned down in Iraq — and had to divert resources from efforts to crush the forces that attacked America’s mainland in 2001 so that in 2007 he/she still couldn’t complete the retaliation he/she had pledged to lead? What if a President Clinton had actually allowed bin Laden to remain at large, videotaping his taunts against America, whose president had vowed to get him, dead or alive, many years ago?

“We all know the answer: What Bush-Cheney-Rove and company would have done to either Clinton would have made what they did to one-time Vietnam War POW John McCain, triple-amputee Vietnam veteran Max Cleland and Vietnam Purple Heart medalist John Kerry look like a Crawford, Texas, picnic. They would have accused either Clinton of selling out and ducking out, of cutting and running from the vow to get Osama bin Laden and crush al Qaeda…”Bush-Cheney-Rove would have had America believing that a President Clinton who had done all of the above had sold America and our Star-Spangled Banner to the terrorists. They would have had us distrusting and despising a president who had been so weak after talking so tough.

“And they would have been right.”

Goldie,

Life’s full of surprises!

Well, the official religion of Saudi Arabia is one of the most virulent forms of radical Islam - Wahabbism. Not to go conspiracy theory on anyone, but the royal families (only about ten thousand cousins, here) have pumped money into the US for decades in the form of think tanks, Islamic studies departments, institutes - small wonder so many viewed the country as benign for so long. Of course, their conspicuous consumption doesn’t do much for a view of them as zealots, either. I suppose hypocrisy knows no religious boundaries.

I’ve long advocated taking steps to eliminate our need for Mideast oil. I know, people will come back with “world markets, can’t trace source, etc” - but such steps would greatly reduce petroleum consumption - which is the bottom line.

The liberal baby-killing chameleon is trying desperately to change his spots, so it would seem:

Giuliani Woos Conservatives on Judges

Presidential contender Rudy Giuliani has been winning over some conservative Republicans by promising to appoint judges in the mold of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia and others who might seem likely to limit the reach of the Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion.

Judges he named as New York mayor, however, could never be mistaken for Scalia.

Many anti-abortion activists are unmoved by Giuliani’s promise to appoint conservative judges.

“Rudy Giuliani has not changed his position _ he is running as a pro-abortion candidate; he’s been consistent with that,” David N. O’Steen, executive director of the National Right to Life Committee, said Tuesday, when the group endorsed Giuliani rival Fred Thompson, a former Tennessee senator.

I think Wolf may tell the Clintons to eff off and look to getting really good ratings for CNN for a change.

As a result, he said that he is faced with the undesirable task of preparing to cease operations at Army bases by mid-February, and lay off about 100,000 defense department employees and an equal number of civilian contractors. A month later, he said, similar moves would have to be made by the Marines.

Here’s an idea. Check the internet activity of your employees at the Defense Department and just flat out fire the ones that are posting on or reading blogs all day. In fact we could probably extend that over the entire Federal government and eliminate the entire national debt in no time.

{{{{No one, of course, can know the ultimate outcome of this long war. But the vaunted “facts on the ground” now at least admit a trend leading to what might reasonably be called victory: a suppression of the insurgency; a steep reduction in the level of domestic, sectarian violence; the existence of a constitutional government not unfriendly to America; a gradual reduction of American force presence with diminishing American casualties; and the assurance for a period of a continued base of operations from which to handle other possible contingencies in the region.}}}}

This ain’t “victory” in Harry Reid’s weird little world:

{{{{‘It is not getting better, it is getting worse,’ Harry Reid says…}}}}

So if it is getting better for America and worse for Al Qaeda and Harry Reid, which side would Harry be on?

Look, al-Gitmo is already wasted, in anticipation of the great Shrillary Flame Out debate:

Paul:

You read the same Stratfor articles I do but for the benefit of everyone else who thinks they know ALL the details but don’t, there’s more:

(((Under Prime Minister Gordon Brown, the United Kingdom has become far more willing to support punitive sanctions, and perhaps even to nudge the situation toward a military resolution — a shift that has left Germany as the only major European power arguing for a softer line.)))

(((Conversations with French President Nicolas Sarkozy pressed home to Merkel that if sanctions were successful, a war could probably be avoided. So while sanctions would interrupt German economic gains, they would certainly be the lesser of two evils. After all, should the Americans go war with Iran, they certainly are not going to stop bombing if they see the “Made in Germany” label on a power plant.)))

(((The United States did offer a sweetener. During Merkel’s Nov. 9-10 visit to U.S. President George W. Bush’s Crawford ranch, Bush — very unofficially — signaled that if the issue of permanent German membership on the U.N. Security Council came to a vote, Berlin could count on an American “aye.”)))

A lot goes on behind the scenes. It’s the kind of stuff we’re not supposed to know about.

Frustrating to some but patience prevails.

I think Sarkozy’s for real. Like a Gaullist without the contempt. And the Germans seem to have gotten the chip off their shoulder from their having dropped a few pegs as a result of reunification. They set a good example, one we should follow when we get humbled after the Social Security tab comes due.

RW,

I thought cons were fiscal cons, they should shrink the rest of the waste.

Gates is on the right track because of the wasted and stolen billions of the Iraq disaster.

Downsize government, it is broken.

Thanks for the fill-in. I hadn’t read the article that came out today - if I get done with projects before the debate I’ll check my in box.

Isn’t it amazing - how papers can print stuff we’re not supposed to know about (classified operations) but won’t print other things we’re not supposed to know about - but would give a better understanding of how we get “there” from “here.”

Couldn’t be one reflects poorly on select politicians, the other doesn’t. Nawwwww…….

In just over an hour, the country will watch the latest Democratic debate.

And it strikes me that the next President of the United States will almost certainly be on that stage tonight.

I’m not sure how I feel about that.

BUT…

Given that the for years now we have had to endure the worst, most incompetent and duplicitous administration in our history, and enabled by the likes of Rove, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Delay, Frist, Craig, ad nauseum, what choice does America really have?

There is simply no way the vast majority of us are willing to take another chance on this awful Republican Party.

No way.

Deal with it, neo-cons. Your demise is at hand.

getalife, not ruckusology. The question is whether they substantially interfered with the free expression of those who were there playing by fair standing rules. That’s for a court to decide. It’s one of the best things courts can do, decide such cases. It’s beautiful, man.

And I am not a coward, really. Not exactly.

Not here anyway.

Not at the moment.

It was a mistake. We’ve all done things we’re not proud of. I’ve learned from this, and pray for the strength to move on. It’s never happened before, and I intend to see to it that it never will happen again.

Might some say “we voted against Reps in 2006, thinking we’d see progress by a Dem Congress, and didn’t. So we’ll refine our outlook and recognize many running today aren’t running as Bush proteges, but as Reps (whatever that is!).

Is pouring concrete on train tracks to block military shipments just an innocent example of free speech, or is it fair to classify it as sedition?

Paul, IMHO, not one of these GOPers, who you assert are not running as proteges of GWB, are believable.

Why?

NOT ONE Republican has looked the nation in the eye and said, “It is true, this administration has done a horrific job of leading the nation. No excuses, no apologies. I will not follow in their foot steps.”

And then outline how they would lead differently/effectively.

Credibility.

Other than Hagel, it is sorely lacking in the free-falling GOP these days and I don’t see the nation getting duped once again by these posers, even though the Dems are merely a slightly better choice.

Letting cement do the dirty work beats having the cojones to lie down across tracks in front of trains moving munitions. That’s what they did in ‘73 to protest the bombing of Cambodia. Ah, those were the days when protesters were more than vandals.

Sedition? Sounds right. Conspiracy to commit murder? Maybe. One gets you the noose at Leavenworth, the other maybe 20 years in the nearest federal prison. Either way, it completely trashes the legacy of civil disobedience and the whole idea of CD.

What’s the point of this kind of thing? Does this come out of boredom, a need for affiliation with other H. Clinton-haters, or simple mean-spirited-ness? It’s such a tired concept that it is no longer clever. Here’s a challenge: instead of resorting to this old cliche, how about thinking about what Hillary Clinton and the candidates are saying?
