DAMN YOU LuckoVICK! You’re nothing more than a cheap two-bit good-for-nothing left-wing bomb-throwing political hack who is out to do nothing more than further the socialist secular agenda (more like communist-atheist agenda) in America! Rudy is a real leader who can lead our country to victory in our critical and deadly battle against islamafacist tierny and barbarism. Rudy has proved his worth as a strong leader, first as a Federal Prosecutor in the Reagan Administration taking on the mob and the totalitarian communist menace, then as a tough-as-nails mayor cleaning up the mean, crime-ridden streets of the city of all cities, New York, then as a natural-born fighter leading NYC and the nation through the devastating and catastrophic aftermath of September 11, 2001. The left’s preferred candidate, Hitlery Clinton, is nothing more than an opportunistic power-hungry carpetbagger who will stop at nothing to acquire as much personal power as possible and impose her marxist/stalinist political views and overbearing personal will on the American People while neglecting national security. All hail Hitlery? Not if Rudy has anything to do with it. Mike, change your diaper, pull up your panties and pull down your skirt because your political bias is showing and IT STINKS!!!

Damn, I agree with cartoon boy:
{{{{Mr. Thompson effectively countered. “Mayor Giuliani believes in federal funding for abortion. He believes in sanctuary cities. He’s for gun control. He supported Mario Cuomo, a liberal Democrat against a Republican who was running for governor; then [Mr. Giuliani] opposed the governor’s tax cuts,” Mr. Thompson enumerated, adding, ————->”And he sides with Hillary Clinton on each of those issues.”<————}}}}
~~~~~~
{{{{But much more importantly, I think Thompson has assessed that breaking these rules could win him support. People outside the Beltway, whose daily lives are not regimented by the news cycle, appreciate that the perpetual campaign has reached a point of asininity. Accordingly, a candidate could win supporters over in the real campaign by claiming that he ignored all of these rules, which essentially mandate twenty-two months of nonstop campaigning. This is a twist on running against Washington. It is running against the Washington press corps. A Republican candidate can do this all the more. After all, the perpetual campaign is mediated by the press, which conservatives loathe. Instead of saying that he broke the media’s rules, a candidate instead can say that he broke the Drive By Media’s rules. That is a great way to win conservatives over: run against the Drive By’s.}}}}
Do we really want the pinko press deciding who are candidate should be?
The determining factor in our selection should be the one the libs hate the most.
Florida Fandango October 22, 2007
Republicans tangle with each other and the facts on torts, taxes and health care, and refuse to shed some old myths.
Summary
Tongues were sharpened before Sunday night’s GOP presidential debate in Orlando, with the candidates drawing blood right out of the gate. We found them factually challenged in several areas:
Giuliani stretched till he broke, in calling Thompson “the single biggest obstacle to tort reform” in the Senate.
Romney boasted of his Massachusetts health care plan and criticized Hillary Clinton’s, although her plan is strikingly similar to Romney’s Massachusetts program. He also falsely accused her of favoring “all-government insurance.”
Giuliani claimed the price of health insurance would drop more than 50 percent if millions more people purchased it directly, a statement unsupported by any evidence he’s offered so far.
Thompson said the most affluent 40 percent of Americans pay “about 99 percent of the taxes.” Actually, they pay less than 85 percent, and also have nearly 74 percent of all the income.
Giuliani made an inflated boast about bringing down crime in New York “more than anyone in this country – maybe in the history of this country.” But the decline started before he took office, continued after he left, and even the FBI itself warns against attributing crime statistics to any specific cause.
{{{{This, it seems to me, is what the global-warming scare and scam are all about — frightening Americans into transferring sovereignty, power and wealth to a global political elite that claims it alone understands the crisis and it alone can save us from impending disaster.}}}}
Kinda of like Y2K.
{{{{We are told global warming was responsible for the hurricane summer of Katrina and Rita that devastated Texas, Mississippi and New Orleans. Yet Dr. William Gray, perhaps the nation’s foremost expert on hurricanes, says he and his most experienced colleagues believe humans have little impact on global warming and global warming cannot explain the frequency or ferocity of hurricanes. After all, we had more hurricanes in the first half of the 20th century than in the last 50 years, as global warming was taking place.}}}}
{{{{“We’re brainwashing our children,” says Gray. “They’re going to the Gore movie (“An Inconvenient Truth”) and being fed all this. It’s ridiculous. … We’ll look back on all of this in 10 or 15 years and realize how foolish it was.”}}}}
Money quote:
{{{{Gray does concede that for a scholar to question global warming can put his next federal grant in mortal peril.}}}}
That is what it is all about, fooling a ignorant government system that rewards scare mongers.
{{{{Whether it’s hunger, poverty or homelessness, in the end, the poor are always with us, but now we have something else always with us: scores of thousands of federal bureaucrats, and armies of academics to study the problem and assess the progress, with all their pay and benefits provided by our tax dollars.}}}}
For years, perhaps decades, Gray has been ascribing all sorts of climate changes and hurricane cycles to fluctuations in the Thermohaline Circulation (THC), an overturning circulation in the Atlantic ocean associated with formation of deep water in the North Atlantic. None of the assertions are based on rigorous statistical associations, oceanographic observations or physically based simulations; it is all seat-of -the-pants stuff of a sort that was common in the early days of climate studies, but which is difficult to evaluate when viewed as a scientific hypothesis. The THC is undoubtedly important to climate, because it transports heat from one place to another. However it cannot do magical things. It cannot created energy out of thin air (or thick water), nor can it make energy mysteriously disappear. Thus, Gray’s statement that “The average THC circulation cools the ocean by about 3 W/m2” is a scientific absurdity.
Gray’s paper begins with a quote from Senator Inhofe calling global warming a hoax perpetrated on the American people, and ends with a quote by a representive of the Society of Petroleum Geologists stating that Crichton’s State of Fear has “the absolute ring of truth.” It is the gaping flaws in the scientific argument sandwiched between these two statements that are our major concern.
Great Post!
Didn’t mean to steal your idea.
Let me add this:
[After arguing with him for a few minutes, it became clear that Bill Gray has no scientific theory of his own why the water vapor feedback is negative, and no data to support his non-theory. He has no manuscript describing his non-theory and no plans to attempt to publish it. After I pointed out all of the evidence supporting a positive feedback, he looked confused and finally said, “OK, maybe the feedback isn’t negative, maybe it’s neutral. I’ll give you that.” I quickly concluded that he has no idea what he’s talking about. I wish everyone that considers him credible could have witnessed this exchange.] (http://blogs.chron.com/sciguy/archives/2006/08/billgrayrevis.html)
Now, I know what you “values voters” are saying right now: “Why would we listen to you, Bill Maher? You’re a bachelor from heathen California. What do you know about family values?” Well, I know enough not to get married and live in Kansas.
And I know that if you can look at the war in Iraq, the melting environments and the descent of America into “idiocracy,” and still think our biggest problems are boobies during the Super Bowl and the “war on Christmas,” then you don’t have values, you have issues.
If you had “values,” you’d draw the line at torture. But a startling number of people who call themselves Christians don’t. And I’m pretty sure if you asked, “What would Jesus veto,” it wouldn’t be health care for sick kids.
Why, it’s almost like “values voters” don’t really believe Jesus was right about anything. “Jesus Christ: wrong on gays, wrong on taxes, wrong on torture, and wrong for America.”
Note to liberal history revisionists…
There was in fact a history in this country BEFORE 2000. In that history, our federal government wasted money left and right, could not account for money paid in many areas/projects/programs, and basically operated at a level that would put any private company out of business. Government waste and incompetence is not a democrat or republican issue, it has spanned every administration, including King Clinton’s. It did not start in 2000 with this Bush presidency and it will not stop in 2008 with whoever wins the next election. Your attempts to blame every lost nickle on Bush himself are just plain STUPID and show your inabiliy to see things for what they are.
But I’m sure they’ll do much better with your government run healthcare system…
BTW, the people we’re fighting over in Iraq hated us before Bush too. They’ve been bombing us for years prior to 9/11. But if you want to continue to think it’s because of Bush’s policies, go ahead and be stupid. It is your right under the constitution.
did you all know that if our bodies were composed entirely of cancer cells, then we would live forever? Cancer cells have immortality, that is, they can divide forever. Cancer should not kill us. Cancer cells should die in just a few days, but they have conspired with chemicals in our reproductive tract to cloak themselves in immortality. That’s where we should be fighting cancer. All cancer cells become immortal by some sort of interaction with our reproductive system. That’s where we should introduce poison pills and booby traps.
This idea of living forever in paradise makes Islamists cancers on the species.
Cancer cells are intelligent. They conspire to overcome the bodies own defined limitations. It’s actually a miracle of sorts, that cancer cells dont ever die, unless you kill them somehow. Cancer cells become what humans can not ever be or every produce. Our cells divide a number of times and then die off to be replaced by new cells . An entire human body replaces itself that way every ten years, each time a less accurate less perfect copy is made and thus we age.
Cancer cells hold the promise of immortality in the future, if we can just figure out how they’re doing it.
We have no clue as yet.
Advisers to the major Republican presidential candidates are developing a consensus on what role President Bush should play in the 2008 campaign—little or none.
“President Bush can be helpful if he stays out of the way,” says a senior strategist for a top-tier GOP candidate. And he could hurt the eventual nominee, the strategist says, if he gets too aggressive in promoting the policies that have driven his job-approval ratings down, such as renewing his call for partial privatization of Social Security or pushing anew for overhauling immigration laws.
“The @ is used as an alternative political spelling for typing in some Romance languages as a gender-neutral substitute for the masculine “o” in mixed gender groups and in cases where the gender is unknown. For example, the Spanish word “amigos,” which could either mean male and female “friends” or all male “friends” would be replaced with “amig@s.” The character is intended to resemble a mix of the masculine letter “o” and the feminine “a”. The usefulness of this is debated; in Spanish the masculine grammatical gender may include both males and females, while the feminine gender is exclusive to females, and there is no neutral gender for most nouns. Some advocates of gender-neutral language-modification feel that using the male grammatical gender as a generic gender indicates an implicit linguistic disregard for women. Many Spanish speakers feel that this use of the @ degrades their language, and some allege that it is an example of cultural imperialism. This construction is generally only used in informal writing. There is no established pronunciation of this writing.”
“In online discourse, the @ is used by some anarchists as a substitute for the traditional circle-A .”
What Luckonitwit does not understand is what the Democrats also don’t get. The Republican party is about broad principles and NOT narrow, one-issue politics. That is why pro-choice speakers are allowed at our conventions and are appointed to high positions in government - e.g. Colin Powell and Condoleeza Rice. The Democrats don’t even let pro-life politicians address their conventions because that would not be ‘towing the p.c. party line.’ E.g. Gov. Casey of Pennsylvania. Giuliani is probably one of the most conservative re: economic issues of the major GOP candidates. He is also opposed to judicial activism. He believes that the courts should not force changes upon law and society, that is why we ELECT legislatures! I am actually a Thompson supporter, but I am perfectly comfortable with Rudy, as will be almost any Republican when faced with a choice between Hitlerian (Clinton) national socialism and a ‘Rockefeller’ Republican. What does it say about this free falling/imploding GOP when the four front runners are:
1) A social liberal and RINO with a past that would make Zsa Zsa Gabor herself blush, disguised as a tough guy mayor who takes credit for everything good that EVER happened in NYC. Notorious supporter of baby killers, anti-gun peaceniks and homosexuals. And he’s much too short to win though he perfectly exemplifies the party’s angst-filled identity crisis. The probable winner.
2) Though tall enough, he’s a flip flopping social liberal and another RINO disguised as a “family values” man, but he stood shoulder to shoulder with the BoSox loving gays and lesbians and he also has a sordid past of supporting the baby killers. And watch out! He’ll raise your taxes just like he did in Taxachusetts! Gaining big mo with the Bible thumpers though, who may have no choice but to ignore his heathen Mormonism. Good second place bet.
3) Large by human standards, the third candidate, Senator PAC, is trying to run as the TRUE neo-con. Called dumb by Tricky Dick, he inadvertently botched things further for his beloved GOP during the Watergate hearings. A Ronald Reagan wannabe (but why?!!) he plans on moving the White House to K Street (uh oh, another connection with those baby killers!), or maybe Haiti, where all of his drinking buddies hang out. Hates tort reform as it is bad for lawyers. Possible big payday for those who bet on long shots.
4) The final candidate, “The Maverick”, a distinguished military man of enormous valor and courage is loathed by the mainstream GOP as he has sponsored gun control legislation, authored the McCain-Feingold Campaign Finance Reform Bill, supported legalizing the status of illegal aliens (BIG UH OH!) and affirmative action, his unwillingness to be anti-environment and his opposition to President Bush’s $350 billion in tax breaks over 11 years. Though they love him for his pro-war in Iraq stance. Has the same chance for victory as that of a liberal not being sexually molested at a RNC meeting.
Thompson’s daughter, Elizabeth “Betsy” Thompson Panici, 38, died in 2002 of an accidental drug overdose, according to the Nashville, Tenn., medical examiner’s office. She had been diagnosed as suffering from a bipolar disorder.
Thompson’s remarks indicated that his daughter had been on life support, although his campaign declined to provide further information, saying the matter was too personal. Panici died on Jan. 30, 2002, six days after being brought unconscious to a hospital emergency room. {{{At the time, then-Sen. In the most recent GOP debate, Mike Huckabee said this:
“When our founding fathers put their signatures on the Declaration of Independence, those 56 brave people, most of whom, by the way, were clergymen, they said that we have certain inalienable rights given to us by our creator.”
Now obviously that is factually wrong and is in fact not even close to accurate. However, it is demonstrative of how great it is to be a winger: You get to make up your own facts. Not only that but then your conclusions about policy are then driven by facts that don’t exist.
Question: Why can the Government prevent people from doing that which is immoral under God’s law?
Answer: Need I remind you that most of the signers of the Dec. of Independence were clergymen.
You see this is living in a non-reality based world, which has its benefits. I mean can you imagine anyone thinking that an Iraq invasion was a good idea if they were living in a reality-based world? Of course not. Great things are done by dreamers who dream up their own facts.
Here are the final candidates for that train-wreck of a political party:
5) A Baptist Preacher who was one of three who raised his hand in the May 3, 2007 Republican candidates debate when asked “Is there anybody on the stage who does not believe in evolution? Begrudgingly admits that the earth is not the center of the universe. “Pro-life” and pro death penalty. Big spender (Cato Institute gave him an F) but wants a Fair Tax. Will be pal-ing around a lot with Bill when he moves back to Hope.
6) The San Diego DOD stooge wants to bomb Iran (NOW!), ban abortion, bring back lots of school prayer and step up the war on drugs. The perfect chickenhawk, he seems p!ssed off at the world and scares people.
7)Colorado Rep. who supported the Vietnam War, but when it was his turn to go, conned the Army doctors and got a deferment for “depression”. A Reagan stooge, he wants to bomb Mecca (???). Jeb Bush once told reporters, “What a nut. I’m just disappointed. He’s from my own my party. He’s a Republican.” after this Colorado chickenhawk called Miami a “third world country”.
8) Ron Paul. The GOP’s biggest embarrassment. Passionate, outspoken, controversial and truly an agent for change in Washington, he was openly laughed at by the other candidates during a recent debate. Apparently does not fit in the big tent. Challenges the very power structure in DC and therefore is a pariah.
More desperation. Climatologists and Meteorologists are Atmospheric Scientists.
{{{Some atmospheric scientists work in research. Physical meteorologists, for example, study the atmosphere’s chemical and physical properties; the transmission of light, sound, and radio waves; and the transfer of energy in the atmosphere. They also study factors affecting the formation of clouds, rain, and snow; the dispersal of air pollutants over urban areas; and other weather phenomena, such as the mechanics of severe storms. Synoptic meteorologists develop new tools for weather forecasting using computers and sophisticated mathematical models of atmospheric activity}}}
Climatologists study climactic variations spanning hundreds or even millions of years. They also may collect, analyze, and interpret past records of wind, rainfall, sunshine, and temperature in specific areas or regions.
Now perhaps you can enlighten us as to Al Gore’s credentials.
It appears, that you cannot be trusted to post the truth.
I still stand in support of Rep Stark’s comments - Yes, even if he has backed down. In fact, had I the opportunity, I would change the word amusement to enrichment.
I still think most Americans were not in the least bit offended by Stark’s statement. In fact, I suspect most said at long last a spine!
As far as the CNN American Morning poll - perhaps it was slammed by liberals. Perhaps not.
Conserviatives don’t watch CNN and they don’t use CNN.com or whatever source the poll was on for their news. An authentic statesman and eminently qualified candidate. Too bad we live in an age where that matters so little, but IMHO he is, hands down, the best person for the job from either party.
WASHINGTON — Bill Richardson, who often cites his diplomatic experience as he campaigns for president, began airing an ad Monday featuring praise from two Americans he helped free from prison in Iraq.
In the 60-second ad, running in Iowa and New Hampshire, Bill Barloon and David Daliberti, mechanics who had been working in Kuwait, recall their capture after they accidentally drove into Iraq, then controlled by Saddam Hussein.
Barloon, an Iowa native, tears up as he recounts how Richardson told the two in 1995 that they were going home. The men had been sentenced to eight years in an Iraqi prison.
Richardson, a congressman from New Mexico at the time, traveled to Baghdad, met with Saddam and worked to negotiate the release.
“He was the only one willing to, to leave his family, his wife behind, travel to a dangerous section of the world, for two men he didn’t even know,” David Daliberti’s wife, Kathy, says in the ad.
The interview with the Dalibertis was filmed in 2002 for Richardson’s gubernatorial campaign. David Daliberti died in January 20004.
“Here’s this big guy _ he is a pretty big guy _ and he’s got a heart as big as he is,” Barloon says of Richardson, his voice breaking.
Richardson has been promoting his extensive resume as congressman, governor, Cabinet secretary and diplomat throughout his campaign. He trails the three Democratic leaders in the presidential field _ Hillary Rodham Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards _ but has made some inroads in polls and with fundraising.
The ad shows Richardson meeting with Saddam and then standing with Barloon and Daliberti, their arms raised as they were freed.
The testimonials represent a new type of ad for Richardson, who has promoted his experience in the past with humorous ads that depict him as a job seeker confronting an unimpressed job interviewer.
RB says “BTW, Craig, we’re not fighting the citizens of Iraq over there you dumba$$.”
Yes RB that is the thing that the left wing media never tells people i.e., that there aren’t any Iraqi’s shooting at our soldiers or bombing them. We haven’t had to even put one Iraqi in jail for insurgent or terrorist activity. Everyone we have killed has been an Iranian and everyone we’ve jailed has been an Iranian.
(Please note that much like Huckabee’s earlier assertion I referenced earlier, this is entirely made up. The fact is that well over 95% of all resistance (killed and jailed) to US presence in Iraq has come from Iraqi’s themselves. Moreover, while there have been some Iranians detained, there aren’t any records of Iranians actually participating in fighting US forces. In fact the largest foreign contingent is from Saudi Arabia, the same people that did 9/11. However, because I am a winger I am entitled to my own facts, as is RB. If we want to just make stuff up, we will. And we will put troop’s lives in jeopardy based on the nonsense we invent in our own head. This is why we are superior to libs. Your thinking is constrained to reality whereas we have the ability to win any argument simply by making up facts which support our pont of view.
Another example: Government doesn’t work. It only hurts. That’s why people over 65 yo are the poorest segment of society whereas before Government interfernce they were the richest. Again, my premise, which feels good to me, is based on really, really bad facts. The truth is that in 1960 the poorest segment of society were those over 65. By 1970, and ever since, they are the weathiest. You see, the facts don’t work for me here so I just make them up. As is my right, as a winger. It is also my right to never ever admit I was wrong even in the face of overwhelming evidence.)
There are signs that Blackwater USA, the private security firm that came under intense scrutiny after its employees killed 17 civilians in Iraq in September, is positioning itself for direct involvement in U.S. border security. The company is poised to construct a major new training facility in California, just eight miles from the U.S.-Mexico border. While contracts for U.S. war efforts overseas may no longer be a growth industry for the company, Blackwater executives have lobbied the U.S. government since at least 2005 to help train and even deploy manpower for patrolling America’s borders.
There are things about him that appeal to me, and I think he makes a lot of sense on some of the issues, but I don’t know enough about him YET to make any real distinctions.
Though to the covert bigots on the far right he must scare the bejesus out them!
It looks like the really good news to come from all of this, is that it APPEARS that another died-in-the-wool neo-con will not have the chance to screw this country up further.
Too bad it probably won’t happen the other way around, but it’s obvious it thankfully won’t be one of the inept Republicans, who will have to fall on their swords for King George II’s many blunders.
And even that really weird Dick Morris (the class act who let a prostitute listen in on his conversations with the Prez) knows the neo-cons are toast.
Political strategist Dick Morris says Hillary Clinton will “cruise” to the Democratic presidential nomination – and probably choose New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson as her vice presidential candidate.
In an interview with the Winston-Salem Journal in John Edwards’ home state North Carolina, Morris was asked if there was any scenario that could lead to Edwards gaining the Democratic nomination.
“He is dead in the water,” Morris opined. “No, there is no scenario…
“His last hope was that he had a residual lead in Iowa, because of his campaigning there in 2004 and his obsessive attention to the state since then. But that lead has now vanished, and Hillary’s ahead and I think she’s going to have an easy cruise to the White House…
Morris said “single moms” will be the deciding factor in the 2008 election, and they lean toward Hillary.
Asked if Clinton can bring out enough single moms to carry red state North Carolina, Morris told the Journal: “Yes, I do. I also think she’ll probably put Richardson on the ticket with her, and I think she’ll attract many more Hispanic and Latino voters to come out.”
Has nutroots insanity gone mainstream? I’m open to another explanation if anyone cares to provide one.
A naturalized US citizen from Kuwait named Tahmeed Ahmad tried to attack Homestead reserve air base in Florida and this is the result:
One of the guards fired at him as he rushed the base gate but didn’t hit him; he was quickly arrested and is now charged with assaulting a US government employee. Also according to the story, the man had long been on a terrorist watch list, but authorities had concluded that he was mentally ill and therefore not a terrorist threat. He had recently been in a mental institution and had told his mother that he wanted to kill himself but “didn’t know how.” He’d also been recruited to teach math at a Miami area high school.
Republicans taught me that a persons character is all important as regards their political worthiness.
If Bill Clinton lying about a blow job is worthy of impeachment proceedings, then Fred Thompsons failure to raise his daughter in a manner such that she does not act criminally (suicide, drug violations) is unquestionably germaine. Additionally, Drop Dead Freds LYING about the nature of her death should also be an impeachable offense!
My point earlier was not to disparage Thompsons pitiable excuse for a daughter or to keep him or her from working at whatever discipline pleases them. It was to call attention to the fact that Thompson LIED to the american public about the nature of his daughters death ostensibly because he was embarrassed. What ELSE will he LIE to the american people about if he is elected and his policies become embarrassing?
Yes the tactic is disgusting and vile, but Republicans are the party that made such talk a vital and neccessary part of the political lexicon. Now they want the other side to just lay down and allow them to call light to the embarrassing and sordid shortcomings of their rivals personal lives while their own remain unchallenged.
In the words of the inimitable Flo, they can ‘Kiss My Grits’!!!
Republicans opened Pandoras Box, now they can wallow in it along with the rest of us.
Has anyone else noticed the extent to which the liberals will attempt to attach the label “liar” to any and every Republican since Bill was impeached for lying to the American public? Bush lied, Cheney lied, Petraus lied, everybody on the right lied. But when you ask them to tell you what they lied about, they quote the tired old liberal lines or change the subject, but they never come up with facts. Now we have people calling Thompson a liar. Enough already.
FACT: If the liberals really thought Bush has lied about something, they would have attempted the impeachment hearings you all want so badly. They have nothing, therefore they haven’t. Get over it.
Having a disabled child die from an overdose is no comparison to getting blow jobs from interns half your age in the oval office and then lying about it. And if you think Monica was the only one and Paula and the others were just making it up, you’re and idiot. And if you think Hillary “stayed with her man” because she’s a dutiful little Christian wife, you’re a bigger idiot. Obviously, I had heard about the Schiavo case,” Thompson said Monday afternoon after touring the Port of Tampa, when a local reporter asked him if he wanted to revisit his answer from September. “I had to face a situation like that on a personal level with my own daughter. I know this is bandied about as a political issue, and people want to make it such and talk about it in the public marketplace a lot. I am a little bit uncomfortable about that, because it’s an intensely personal thing with me. These things need to be decided by the family.”
Sounds about right to me. I do not see anything wrong in what thompson has done, and his position is right. The terri shiavo thing was insane, the husband has the right to decide, not the parents, and the government needs to stay out.
Amvet,
I would agree on the inept comment, but not the morality question.
I view the actions of Bush, Cheney, Gonzales and others as the morality of the zealot. I believe that they are doing what they think needs to be done, no matter the morality of the individual action, the final goal is of more value. That final goal overshadows any other consideration, and provides justification along the way for moral failures pertaining to the final goal (such as torture), as well as the incidental infractions along the way (such as making a few bucks).
I don’t think a suicide bomber views themselves as undertaking an immoral action when they kill themselves and others using much the same type of zealous morality. Same for enviro “terrorist” groups who damage property and vehicles. Or for partisans who will attack politically an opponent on a matter that should be above them.
I particularly recall little children drawing pictures and explaining that it depicted George Bush who “wants to destroy the planet”.
Oh look! Obstruction of justice too
So why was denying private citizen Paula Corbin Jones her day in court such a huge priority? If Clinton would have just settled that early on like he finally did later it would have been far in his past before Monica ever flashed her thong at him.
After a series of mythologists trying to replace science with creationism in the classroom, my much panned home state finally has some great news to report.
Victory: Kansas Coal Plant Rejected because of Global Warming
In a huge victory, Kansas rejected a massive new coal-fired power plant, citing concerns that the global warming pollution from the proposed plant would threaten public health and the environment. This landmark decision was followed Monday by a report from an international panel of scientists which found that new coal plants were the “single greatest challenge” to effectively fighting global warming. Scientists tell us that we need to reduce our global warming emissions 80% by 2050 — a do-able 2% a year. But as scientists and public health officials across the country and around the world are realizing, we cannot meet that goal if we continue to build new coal-fired plants.
The point was that when discussing body parts there are men who appreciate modesty from a “young” woman.
I have never been modest but appreciate it in others.
A rushncap woman doesn’t express her views. The only sound she’s able to make is a squeaking sound. He likes it that way.
Presidential candidate Rudolph Giuliani hired a Catholic priest to work in his consulting firm months after the priest was accused of sexually molesting two former students and an altar boy and told by the church to stop performing his priestly duties.
The priest, Monsignor Alan Placa, a longtime friend of Giuliani and the priest who officiated at his second wedding to Donna Hanover, continues to work at Giuliani Partners in New York, to the outrage of some of his accusers and victims’ groups, which have begun to protest at Giuliani campaign events.
“This man did unjust things, and he’s being protected and employed and taken care of. It’s not a good thing,” said one of the accusers, Richard Tollner, who says Placa molested him repeatedly when he was a student at a Long Island, N.Y. Catholic boys high school in 1975.
Anybody see anything weird about a guy who really likes to cross dress having a best buddy who is a child molester?
I know that we could name Rudy the candidate most likely to bomb non-white, non-Christian’s and while that’s a real plus for a winger like me. But I mean really.
BTW: If a Democrat were in the same position they’d be out of the race almost immediately. Why? Because thats how we wingers roll.
I’m guessing that if this story gets any traction some winger radio host will claim that the victims were begging for it thereby changing the debate into what a scumbag the radio host is and then the radio hosts friends will claim that the statement was taken out of context and then the issue will magically disappear. That’s also how we roll.
LuckoDuh,
Thanks for the update on Petreaus. BTW: has he revisited his testimony that he had no idea whether success in Iraq made Americans safer?
You and I know that if we don’t create a Jeffersonian democracy in Iraq we’re all gonna die. We know that because that is what Bush tells us. So has Petreaus caught up with this logic yet? I mean won’t he take his job more seriously if he knows that our nation’s very existence depends upon his success?
Moreover, why should we trust this mission to somebody who is so stupid that he has no idea that success in Iraq is the prerequisite for our nation’s survival? And if he is that dumb, why should we listen to his updates on the war? It seems to me that he has shown himself to be a demonstrable moron simply by not seeing that winning in Iraq is the only thing that will keep us alive.
What are your thoughts on the lead Gen. appointed by the president to oversee this mission not knowing instinctively that success in Iraq makes us safer?
I mean you really only have 3 choices:
1) He’s an idiot 2) He;s right and Iraq has very little to do with our national security 3) Ignore the facts because they aren’t helpful.
I’m guessing that you’ll take #3. All the wingers do. It really is better than confronting reality isn’t it.
Oh I forgot, choice #4 is “he was taken out of context.”
While pondering this question don’t worry that nearly 4,000 US troops have died and over 30,000 have been seriously wounded on the premise that invading Iraq made us safer even though the lead general in charge won’t say that. I mean if you do, you might think, if you have a soul (which I doubt), that you may in part be responsible for these deaths and injuries which have no rational relationship to American security. At least not one which can be discerned by the lead general in charge. I just wouldn’t go there. I’d just wave your flag, close your ears, shut your eyes and scream like a Rhesus monkey while throwing feces until these questions pass. It is the winger defense mechanism which protects us from responsibility for the coffins, the dismemebered limbs, the mutilated faces, the severe brain injuries and the mental trauma suffered by our troops in the defense of what? The good general hasn’t thought about it, right?.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Tuesday ordered tougher oversight of private guards in Iraq, including tighter rules on the use of force, following deadly shootings involving U.S. security contractor Blackwater.
The State Department said other measures included improved training and clearer rules of engagement for private security guards and better coordination with the U.S. military as well as cultural sensitivity training for contractors and more Arabic speakers, the State Department said.
Five years into the Iraq campaign, King George decides that it might be a good idea for the people carryin guns to be trained and to have oversight.
Shiite, who’s gonna be left to kill and intimidate the private citizenry in order to win over the hearts and minds of the Iraqi people?
