Excellent cartoon Mike, right on target. If James Dobson of “Focus On The Family” fame and the bigots on the religious right want to cut their own throats in 2008 because of an uncompromising and unwavering commitment to an unreasonably rigid and illogical ideology, then so be it, but they’re making a big mistake in writing off a candidate who could be so strong on national security. How could the religious right, in effect, “right-off” Rudy Guiliani who knows what happens when national security is taken very lightly or even totally ignored as was seemingly the case before 9/11?
As Mayor of NYC on that fateful day, Rudy literally survived two burning 110-story skyscrapers falling on his head. It looks as though the religious right is willing to let their fanaticism get in the way of their common sense. What happened to that “big tent” of diversity that the GOP supposedly stands for? (That “big tent” remark is a Senator Larry Craig dirty joke waiting to happen, but I digress) I guess that for the far right-wing of the GOP in 2008, diversity doesn’t apply to those who don’t think exactly like and look exactly like the typical member of the religious right (fanatically anti-abortion, supposedly anti-gay (see Mark Foley, Rev. Ted Haggart and Larry Craig) Southern evangelical middle-aged white male, but as they say, the Republicans’ loss (general election) is Hillary Clinton’s gain (Presidency)…

Just another shameless attempt by the dirty slimy spineless communist pinko pro-Al-Qadea liberal maggots to subvert and manipulate the American voting process by trying to divide-and-conquer the GOP. LuckoVICK and the HITLERY-OSAMA crowd just want to fix the election for a Soviet-style totalitarian dictatorial power play on the White House.
Oh, and by the way, GO SCREW YOURSELF IN HELL TAR HOLE. You little cowardly leftist slimes are just trying to play up a little family disagreement into a major GOP split drama for PINKOCRAT/democrap gain. In your highly-medicated liberal straightjacket lucid demented dreams Tar Hole and LUCKOPUNK. Haven’t you run out of manure-based ink for your little sick left-wing bomb-throwing sketchings, yet? Though your daily hand-drawn leftist psycho-babble does make a great lining for kitty litter boxes, pig pens, doghouses, horse barns and slaughterhouses all over the South.

As a proud member of the Religious Right, and although I’m not a left wing pinko “expert” on the subject, allow me to say that SHrillary Klintoon scares me far more then Giuliani does.
That “woman” is down right horrifying.
She even scares you libs, hahahaha.
~~~~~~
{{{{Bush administration officials say they are confident they will win approval of the broadened wiretapping authority that they secured temporarily in August as Congress rushed toward recess, and some Democratic officials admit that they may not come up with the votes to rein in the administration. As the debate over the N.S.A.’s wiretapping powers begins anew this week, the emerging legislation reflects the political reality confronting the Democrats. While they are willing to oppose the White House on the conduct of the war in Iraq, they remain nervous that they will be labeled as soft on terrorism if they insist on strict curbs on intelligence gathering.}}}}
Don’t worry, you libs have already been labeled as “soft” in the head.
And spineless too.
~~~~~~
{{{{The notion that the U.S. goes around unnecessarily “torturing” people without any rationale whatsoever is so absurd that it is almost never stated explicitly. But it is equally awkward for the Administration’s critics to admit that the “coercive” methods listed in these memos to induce cooperation from al Qaeda operatives may actually work. Former CIA Director George Tenet (slam dunk) has said explicitly that they do work and have saved American lives. But rather than face these hard issues directly, the scolds fall back on generalities about our “values.”}}}}
~~~~~~
{{{{That kind of disconnect with press coverage and the debate back home is a constant theme. The Senate recently passed a resolution sponsored by Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., calling for splitting Iraq in three. A colonel here scoffs that the Senate managed to agree on the one step that basically no one in Iraq wants to take.}}}}
Rudy: Worse Than Bush?
By IN THE NEWS
October 9, 2007 8:06 AM | Link to this
Being President of the United States means making judgement calls. It means making tough decisions about the lives of millions of people and billions of people around the world. Presidents are remembered by their ability to make tough decisions - FDR’s presidency was defined by one tough decision after another, resurrecting a battered nation and going to war for the survival of democracy. Richard Nixon chose to engage in bribery and dirty tricks and it resulted in a constitutional crisis. Especially following George W. Bush and his failed presidency, the issue of who can and cannot make tough decisions for the right reasons is the central issue of the 2008 election. By that measure the conduct of Rudy Giuliani with Bernard Kerik, a man to whom Giuliani entrusted the lives of millions of Americans, clearly disqualifies Giuliani for the presidency.
Rudy made tremendous mistakes with his handling of the ‘93 attack on the WTC, in that he did NOTHING to guard NYC from the consequences of another attack. Putting his command center right there in the WTC was tragically stupid, and many first responders are dead because of the decisions (or lack of) he made.
….What all this comes down to is that George Bush should never have become our President. He is not just a bad President but the worst one we could have had, the worst our country has ever seen. This is a judgment that many Americans have come to but which our political establishment and media, even after 6 years, have yet to acknowledge, accept, and act on. This is the tragedy and crime of our times.
November 2008
After the impeachment and war crimes trial of former Vice President Cheney, and the ensuing appointment of Rudy Guiliani as Vice President the outcome of last nights election was all but given.
The Democrats took the White House with the largest numbers ever seen.
A historic election.
Further, of the 22 senate seats republicans had, all were taken by the Democrats!
Also, Now that the House of Representatives has only 5 republican left the Democrats are free to change the direction of this country.
First of, will be the indictment of Bush, Rumsfield, Ashcroft, Rove and Petrseus.
Planes are lined up to bring our troops home immediately. Member of Blackwater and other contrators have been called back into the service as privates (with correct pay scales) and will stay in Iraq for the next few months to cover our troops as they withdraw.
The new All American Non for Profit Health Care bill Passed with 100% of the vote.
Senate Majority Leader Russ Fiengold says interment camps for the last of the neo-cons is off the table.
In other news, Rush Limbaugh and Bill O’Reilly are still realing from the revelation of their long term love affair. Sales of oxycontin and loofahs have hit the bottom.
Anonymous is right! Guilliani would make a fine president. You see, there’s things he wants to do that only a first lady can do. Guilliani was the first to note that Blackwater Mercenaries will follow us home from Iraq if we leave. Guilliani could be the only candidate still in a stupor from the personal impact that 911 had on him. He could be suffering from shell shock, or delayed trauma syndrom. His symptoms include disassociation from current events, as displayed by his answering a cell phone call during a campaign speech. He’s detached. There’s a thousand-miles-away look. Fully armored? Would he have disbanded the Iraqi army and let them take their weapons? Would he have allowed the looting of Bahgdad?
Would he have appointed Chalabi? How about Bremer or someone similar?
What about dabaathification? Or the oil law?
What would he have done once the pictures from AbuGhraib came out? Would we even be in that situation?
Would he have hired private contractors? And then not allowed them to be held accountable?
Would he have allowed Walter Reed to fall into disrepair? Would he have extended tours of duty or multiplied them by two or three or four?
Would he have taken his eyes off of bin Laden?
Just what do you think would have been so bad about a Kerry administration?
If that’s the way you feel, then why didn’t you say it to Doom himself instead of waiting until he’s gone, coward!
HEY DUMBA$$,
I said that conservatives were upset with the big government aspects of the Bush Presidency, but knew it would be worse under Kerry.
Is it really that hard for you to see that with Kerry promising that the Federal government would cure every perceived domestic ill with rivers of Federal cash that government would have been much bigger?
Kind of like what you’re all pushing for now, although I haven’t heard the Silky Pony promise that he would get Christopher Reeve walking again if we elect him…yet.
RW,
That’s just a bait statement and you know it. And that’s not what you originally asked - having a right to do or not do something and making something illegal are two different things.
How big of an epidemic is partial birth abortion - do you have any statistics? How many are performed each year? I’m talking about late term - after 20 weeks.
But just to answer your question, NO, I do not personally believe partial birth abortions should be performed.
The problem lies in whether you think the government should tell a person what they can do or not do - whether or not the government can or should make that choice for someone.
How so? The only way the government takes away your “”right”” to do something is to make it illegal so they are one and the same.
We’ve posted stats on PBA numbers here many times, but the original point isn’t about PBA’s. It’s that we had a bunch of pious liberals telling us that they would never mistreat another human in any way, yet they support this gruesome murder of an innocent baby.
“Kerry promising that the Federal government would cure every perceived domestic ill with rivers of Federal cash” ?
It is rather general. A bit broad.
What programs are you talking about? Where did he promise to pay for them all with rivers of federal cash? How does that square with the “Pay as you go” budget rules that Kerry supported?
Can you provide anything more specific than your opinion?
Oh, and by the way, calling people “dumba$$” is not any way to facilitate debate.
With best wishes for your continued good health.
RW,
The “gruesome murder of an innocent baby”? Oh, I’m not going there.
“It’s the hypocrisy you might say.”
Yes, RW, from both sides - do you support the death penalty? Do you support this war? What about the babies of parents who can’t afford health insurance? It’s just not that black and white.
You have a point about the only way to take a way a right is to make it illegal, I’m not a legal scholar, I don’t know. But I’m usually very hesitant to agree to making something illegal without solid evidence it’s detrimental to our society, or that it even exists.
Gay marriage is another issue - why make it illegal when there is no proof that it has a negative, detrimental effect on our society - why change the Constitution of the United States to take away the rights of some citizens.
I personally think that partial birth abortion as you defined it, is a ghost story, a scare tactic designed by the ultra-right wing Christians as a first step to making all abortions illegal (which I do not support).
Do I have any proof of this? No. It’s just a hunch.
But I am pro-choice. While I do not personally believe in abortion, I do not feel that the government should make those choices for people.
I do not feel the government should make moral choices for people at all because morals can not be governed. What’s good for you isn’t necessarily good for me.
{{{{By Hey RW October 9, 2007 12:43 PM I see that you think things would have been worse under John Kerry.}}}}
Allow me to cover all of the democrat presidential scenarios:
John Kerry: Would have deferred the foreign policy decisions of the United States to French leader Jacques Chirac. This would have stopped any invasion of Iraq, as France was too busy scamming billions of dollars off of “Oil for Food” while they were stealing food from the mouths of Iraqi children.
al-Gore: Would still be doing an pre invasion environmental impact study of Iraq.
SHrillary Klintoon: Would have nutted up in front of the United Nations because Iraq was ignoring their resolutions. The United States would have invaded Iraq, but, under the orders of Secretary Of Defense Jack Filthy Mouth Murtha, would have fled the battlefield after the first few casualties.
No matter which of the above scenarios played out, in 2007, Saddam would have screwed a nuclear warhead on to the top of one of his array of missiles and took out Tel Aviv with it.
To which the pinko president would have voiced “grave concern.”
Shooh, I sure am glad that the U.S. wasn’t that stupid to elect some lib for president.
