God has unleashed his rath and fury on the State of Georgia and most pacifically, the scandalous, sin-ridden city of Atlanta. This so-called “exceptional” drought is nothing more than a severe and relentless, deserving punishment for Atlantans because of on-demand abortion, rampant, overwhelming homosexuality and hedonistic behavior and the aiding and abetting of atheists. Until Atlantans change their behavior and stop practicing their immoral and demonic ways: abortion clinics on every corner, open-air illegal drug use, blatant gay and straight prostitution, strip clubs, rap music and widely practiced, accepted and city government-encouraged atheism and homosexuality, the godless, deranged communist deviants of inside-the-perimeter Atlanta will continue to be the recipents of God’s unending rath and scorn. Unfortunately, the good people of the State of Georgia will continue to be punished for allowing these unconscionable unnatural immoral offenses against God, Christian living, the American Way-of-life and humanity to go on in its capital city of Atlanta. The godless, hedonistic, sodomistic atheists of Atlanta deserve nothing but God’s scorn and contempt for their egregious sins and crimes against nature. Almost everyone inside-the-perimeter is living their shameful, pathetic excuse of a so-called life as if there is no God…and they think that they’re right, but they’re DEAD WRONG. If Atlantans don’t change their un-Godly, hedonistic ways the people of North Georgia can expect to get hit with fires, locusts, starvation, disease and finally rain…in the form of catastophic floods. {{{{DROUGHT: Waterless urinals one step forward-Urinal}}}}

I got an even better idea, what about an inkless Urinal?

~~~~~~
Just a friendly little reminder:
{{{{Riding the tide of Watergate, the Democrats achieved their largest majorities in Congress since World War II in the 1974 elections. They immediately began clamoring for a withdrawal of all support from the South Vietnamese government. Before the new majority had even taken its seats, Congress passed the Foreign Assistance Act, which ruled that all military assistance to South Vietnam must end by July 1976. Realizing America was not going to intervene, the North Vietnamese continued southward. Although individual ARVN units fought bravely, the government in Saigon panicked and the retreat turned into a rout. Within six weeks Saigon fell. Almost simultaneously, Cambodian Communist leader Pol Pot marched into Phnom Penh, overthrowing the military regime in neighboring Cambodia. The result — as President Bush recounted in his recent speech — was the re-education camps, the Boat People (actually a pogrom against ethnic Chinese), and the Killing Fields, in which one-fourth of the population of Cambodia died.}}}}
~~~~~

Why was the youngest guy in the room the busiest? I was intrigued enough to stop and watch. I noticed there were no New York Times, no CNN, and no Wall Street Journals relating the latest batch of bad news anywhere in his cubicle. There was just a Mercedes brochure, a focused young man who was busy making calls and cementing willing buyers and willing sellers together. Just a kid fantasizing about his dream car, but making the real world steps (lots and lots of phone calls) to make it a reality.

Maybe if all of the Yankee traitor eurotrash pondscum went back home to New Yuck, Fill-lee-delphia, Worshington D.C., Detrollit, Sh?t-cago and all other miserable “secular” points north and all of the homosexuals, deviants and atheists went back home to San Fransicko, Californication and all of the hurricane refugees went back to Florida and Louisiana and left Georgia for the good God-fearing Christian believers of Georgia, then there would be no drought and very little, if any, crime, pollution or traffic. Funny ml…only because IT’S RAINING!

About global warming, Al Gore’s hysteria is breeding terrorists.

(((In addition to frustration, the trend toward more violent tactics is also fueled in part by a sense of urgency. Considering the issues of climate change, habitat destruction and the perceived failure of the capitalist system urgent, the activists in the McDavid case thought they did not have time to wait for government and industry to change slowly. According to Weiner, “We had to meet the destruction of the planet with harsh tactics.”)))

(((Members had also discussed fantastical plans such as attacking a ball bearing factory in an effort to halt the production of automobiles, spilling a tractor-trailer of jam on a highway to interrupt the transportation of goods and storming into a bank and burning all the money instead of robbing it. That said, the testimony of Weiner, Jenson and Anna in this case illustrates a couple of emerging trends in the radical ——>left’s<—— environmental and animal rights movements: the increasing use of violence — specifically the use of explosives and timed incendiary devices — and the growing disregard for human life.)))

Sounds like Al Qaeda to me.

{{{{Not a week goes by without Democrats proposing some sort of tax increase. On Tuesday, Reps. David Obey, John Murtha and Jim McGovern demanded an income tax hike, ostensibly to pay for the cost of military operations in Iraq. Under their proposal, households in lower tax brackets would have to hand over an additional 2 percent of their income, while taxpayers at the top of the earning spectrum would be hit with a surcharge of between 12 and 15 percent.}}}}

A tax increase because “we” are spending too much:

{{{{Whereas Bush seeks to expand the program’s funding by 20 percent, or $5 billion, Democrats want a $35-to-$50-billion expansion. If they succeed, the Congressional Budget Office estimates, 2 million kids now using private insurance will switch into government-run health care.}}}}

Got a mouse in your pocket, libby?

{{{{Psychotic disorders are severe mental disorders that cause abnormal thinking and perceptions. People with psychoses lose touch with reality. Two of the main symptoms are delusions and hallucinations. Delusions are false beliefs, such as thinking that someone is plotting against you or that the TV is sending you secret messages. Hallucinations are false perceptions, such as hearing, seeing or feeling something that is not there.}}}}

The cartoon was okay. Maybe I’m just too close to writing comedy to appreciate it. Seinfeld did a bit where cops used a megaphone to order an elderly man up north to put down his snow shovel and come with them to florida where he should retire cause “it’s the law”.

This drought happened in spite of the 1.6 gallon per flush law that congress passed in 1988. WE were promised that our stopped-up comodes would be worth the trouble if we extended our water supply. But was it? In 1988, charmins invented the triple roll; Kellogs started putting two scoops in their raisin bran; And millions of babyboomers suddenly became aware of the importance of fiber in the diet.

I cant use just 1.6 gallons, sorry. I need miles of pipes, teams of plumbers working around the clock at the teamster level in New Jersey, huge underground caverns and a good flash flood once in a while.

And who flushes just once anymore? You have to flush at least five times if you have any dignity. We use more water, not less, thanx to the 1.6 gallon per flush law.

Repeal the 1.6 gallon per flush law!

{{{{Military personnel all over the world thank God for Rush Limbaugh’s stout defense of our military from these fakes. In 1971, there was no one to defend us from the John Kerrys and the Al Hubbards. Indeed, it is the U.S. Senate that is a Potemkin Village. It is a body whose failure to condemn Hubbard’s and Kerry’s 1971 libels is deafening. It is also a place on whose floor active duty soldiers have been compared to the assassins of the Khmer Rouge (Senator Deck Durbin); people who terrorize women and children (Senator Kerry); and (in close proximity) cold blooded murderers (Rep. John Murtha). Hypocrisy and cowardice are terms too kind for those who demean our soldiers without regard to the consequences to them. This conduct when coupled with the effort to silence Limbaugh a stout defender of the troops, can be best described with two words: What phonies.}}}}

Since my Andy is in diapers I save a least 15 flushes a day. His once every 10 days bath also shows we are doing our part to help save Sonny from the drought.

Why aren’t they putting this into the equation?

Its important to Andy to blog non-stop, the diapers really help. Especially when he eats Spaghetti-O’s and Kraft Macaroni n Cheese all day. The water we save from his not having to “runs” to the bathroom all day is saving us from the deficit!

Goodness Gracious! A little common sense!

If you fail to lead your life according to God you may just find yourself betrayed by friends, falsely accused by neighbors, wrongly convicted, beaten mercilessly and then nailed to a large piece of wood and left to die.

On the other hand if you follow God’s word and join the GOP in its fight against evil it may, one day, be bestowed upon you the honor of hammering those nails instead.

{{{{ The war in Iraq is winding down for over two-thirds of the population. There are fewer than 15 insurgent-related incidents a day in Mosul (down from five times that amount a year ago and many of the current incidents are roadside bombs being found before detonation due to information from the local populace). The attacks in Basra are even fewer, especially now that Iran has backed off, realizing that the B-52s are a presidential phone call away. Even though it is the main insurgent target, Baghdad has seen attacks drop by half — and death-squad killings reduced by 75 percent — as the new Iraqi security services take on a more aggressive and present role. The city where I have lived now for a total of almost three years, has never been quieter. We will continue to see the occasional spectacular car bomb, but this will have no lasting effect on the general movement toward peace in Iraq.}}}}

Though I’m not terribly thrilled about it, it’s looking more and more like the winner in November 2008 will be decided in a race between the two New Yorkers.

Another Clinton juggernaut vs. a NY RINO?

But regardless of the eventual winner, it is certainly going to be fun to watch the GOP further implode over who is, and who isn’t, “conservative” enough!

The good news is that, even if Rudy does pull off the upset, unless he is a closet neo-con, America is likely to see the very last hurrah of this ridiculous and failed political ideology.

And the “Christian” “base” will have much gnashing of teeth and likely again portray themselves as hapless victims, even martyrs, of this evil, liberal, secular American society.

And ironically, just like another failed government - that one in Germany during the last century - the neo-cons were only in power for 12 years. It just seems like infinitely longer.

{Fifty-seven percent of Democrats think Clinton’s the candidate with the best chance to win the White House. That number went up 14 points in September. She also leads as the candidate who best reflects the Democratic Party’s values.}

{What’s happening in the Republican race? Rudy Giuliani’s lead is growing. It’s now 34 percent. Fred Thompson jumped into second place when he got in the race last month, but he seems to have stalled (17 percent).}

{What’s behind Giuliani’s gains? Same as Clinton — electability. Republicans pick Giuliani as having the best chance to win in November.}

{But does Giuliani best reflect his party’s values? Twenty-three percent of Republicans say he does. Twenty-six percent say Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona, does. Twenty-one percent pick Thompson.}

{Giuliani looks like a winner to Republicans. But many Republicans are not sure he’s one of them. That’s not a problem most Democrats have with Hillary Clinton.}

[[At a Congressional Black Caucus forum, Clinton said, “I like the idea of giving every baby born in America a $5,000 account that will grow over time. So, when that young person turns 18, if they have finished high school, they will be able to access it to go to college or maybe they will be able to put that down payment on their first home, or go into business.”]]

[[Clinton’s remarks were reportedly well received by the friendly audience, but Democratic voters nationwide are less enthusiastic—38% support the idea and 47% are opposed.]]

[[Republicans and unaffiliated voters are strongly opposed to the baby bonds. Republicans are opposed by a 76% to 14% margin. Only 27% of unaffiliated voters favor the concept while 58% are opposed.]]

[[Approximately 4 million children a year are born in the United States meaning that Clinton’s proposal would cost taxpayers $20 billion annually. This sounds too much like the “spend and spend” Democratic party of old, rather than the new, more moderate party image Clinton and her husband have tried to project.]]

Bosch, if there is an exact center to the bullseye, you hit it with that 11:10!

The GOP would profit infinitely by returning to their roots and breaking this cozy (sleazy?) bond with these charlatans and frauds cloaked as pious men of tolerance, faith and compassion.

That is but one of the numerous ways in which this “new” GOP has decimated any resemblance to true American conservatism.

But get them to admit that! Ain’t ever going to happen with this crowd. So the nation endures, hopeful that one day they will learn their lessons.

For doing so would require, as you correctly noted, a longer term approach and at least a semblance of vision.

I don’t yet see the first inklings of that in this Republican Party.

That is why I still assert that they are likely looking at another forty years in the political wilderness looking in, at a Democratic Congress and, in this case, almost assuredly a Democratic White House, as well.

But then, they’ve earned it.

Good morning! And what a proud day it is. Our mighty armies continue to win, the surge is greatly successful, we have completely destroyed a country and displaced now 5 million civilians. Our mission? To completely change the culture and religion of an entire nation, to say nothing of thousands of years of its habits, hatreds, rivalries, etc., and to provide them, thru our own lil gang of assorted hillbillies, that great democracy for which they have forever yearned. What a job we’ve done!

Our military leader, Thee Deecider, inherited a balanced budget and a manageable national debt, and in just 6 years has bankrupted the Ewenited States by putting us in hock to the tune of $9 trillion, a sum larger than that accumulated by all the other 42 presidents we had in 2 1/2 centuries. The drunken little man from Texas, beating his own broken drum, has piled up an unparalleled record of failures and disasters without equal in the nation’s long history. Let us remember him and all the vermin who are responsible for his continued existence. Good Murcuns all. Strong, brave, loyal, and true. God bless Murcuh!

James Dobson should try the shower technique on Guilliani to turn him into a good Christian candidate.

Christian soldiers need to do their part. We need to mirror and affirm Guilliani’s maleness. We can play rough-and-tumble games with him, in ways that are decidedly different from the games he would play with Hillary. We can help Guilliani learn to throw and catch illegal aliens. We can teach him to pound a Muslim with a wooden hammer into a square hole in a dungeon. We can even take him with us into the shower, where Guilliani cannot help but notice that Rev Haggard has a pen-is, just like his, only bigger.

Q: What do you get when you cross a neocon with a lemming?

A: Peace.

Q. How many neocons does it take to screw in a light bulb.

A. None. God won’t let their light bulbs go out. And it’s an impertinent question.

or

A. None. George Bush predicts the light bulb will be fully capable of changing itself within 3 months.

George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and Joe Lieberman are all flying over New Orleans in a Blackhawk, surveying the progress that has been made in rebuilding the city and the levees. As they fly over the Ninth Ward, Cheney looks out the window, grins, and says, “You know, I could throw a thousand-dollar bill out the window right now and make one of those poor b******* very happy.”

Bush says, “Well, I could throw ten hundred-dollar bills out the window right now and make TEN people very happy.”

Not to be outdone, Lieberman chimes in, “Oh yeah? Well, I could throw a hundred $10 bills out the window and make a HUNDRED Americans very happy.”

Hearing this, the copter pilot rolls his eyes and says, “Man, I could throw all three of you out the window and make 300 million Americans very happy.”

I’ve been reading some lately about this and posted some info the other day on this matter.

And I agree with Bosch, the GOP should be thankful! HIGHLY thankful!

There is now somewhat of a chance that they can attract more moderates, progressives, independents and yes, even liberals to there heretofore completely misnamed “big tent”.

It certainly makes them more attractive to me IF their leadership concurs that this is a good thing to bring their party back to a more reasoned and reasonable center.

I have great, even enormous, doubts about that though.

But it would certainly be humorous if the religionists can find some poor schmuck to run on their demented “God is on our Side” Party!

You aksi have those “compassionate conservatives” like Bush claims to be, but vetos the SCHIP program - now did he veto the program because he’s being fiscally responsible (LOL at that hypocrisy), or did he veto it because it’s too close to socialized medicine? What cracked me up yesterday was seeing (and it could have been Bush actually, but I don’t remember) folks yack about how people would switch over from private to government insurance if this went through.

Now, these individuals didn’t mention how WalMart actually encourages their employees to do just that. Hmmmm…..interesting.

So that would cost $20 billion/year - and this war costs how much per month?

So we start a program that gives children incentive to graduate from high school and go to college. Call me a crazy liberal, but I think $20 billion/year would be worth that.

Just a thought, but- If more kids went on to college, and got better paying jobs, wouldn’t that lead to more kids able to support themselves, and maybe less welfare?

I wonder how much high school dropouts cost the taxpayers?

Which, on the surface, my friend, would bode well for them.

But again ONLY IF they acknowledge to this country what the rest of America already knows - this relationship with the far religious right - represents, in many cases, the very worst of American politics disguised as tolerance, morality and compassion.

Unless of course, you really do want the law of the land, as viewed by Dobson, Robertson, etc., to once again include forced Christian prayers in public schools, once again American women dying and maimed by back alley abortions, once again pass Prohibition or at least make alcohol as readily available as it is in Muslim countries and the Ten Commandments posted on every street corner.

I’m only being slightly facetious.

This is unquestionably a secular nation.

A secular nation.

And we have already been down the road that these “men of faith” fervently desire again.

And even though these reactionaries won’t face reality, the vast majority of us Americans have repudiated them as an over-influential political power and their inane beliefs about how we as a people should be told to live.

I have said that I am not a fundamentalist, or a Baptist, despite many silly attempts to put all conservatives who are also Christians into one basket.

I am not a single issue voter and don’t believe in cutting off my nose to spite my face.

The purpose is to stop Hillary/Obama/Edwards. Towards that end I will support whomever our nominee is as long as it isn’t that Moonbat Ron Paul.

Bosch 11:26,

The lunatic fringe here is going to pull your moonbat(ic)® card for having the temerity to use your own judgment about me instead of just calling me a fundamentalist nutjob.

Anyway, I can see the James Dobson’s of the world standing on their own principle’s and refusing to support someone that supports abortion rights, but I also think they’re fools to do it when it ensures that a worse alternative will win the Presidency. Seems like they are kind of cutting off their nose to spite their face as the saying goes.

I personally am probably closer to Guiliani on the social issues other than gun rights, I’ve got a lot in common with Thompson on foreign policy issues but am really disturbed by his support of McCain/Feingold. If I were making a choice right now it would probably be Romney, but I want to see how they do in the heat of the lead up to the early primaries. I also want whichever one of them gets through to select Mike Huckabee as the VP.

I think the various state parties are doing this country a tremendous disservice by jamming so many of the primaries together early, so Republicans and Democrats alike may have some buyer’s remorse by the time the general election comes around if the nominee is picked in early February.

My hope is that with all the primaries jammed up early that the delegates get distributed too much to even have a nominee until the conventions, but that’s probably too much to ask for.

Even Newt knows all is lost for this “new” GOP.

And he was the very creator of it!

Well, actually that accolade might go to President Reagan, but Newt certainly did the Barry Bonds with it. (Will there be an asterisk after his name from now on?!!!)

In the past under their tutelage, the most vile tactics were extremely effective and the idiots on the far left responded in kind.

12 years later the nation, at least the centrist and moderate Americans, are nauseated by this vitriol, even though the trickle down theory still remains, albeit on the lunatic fringes, as evidenced by the modus operandi of some here.

But like it or not, reactionaries, times have changed.

And it is unlikely that the smear machines will be nearly as effective this time.

And the hate vote is probably not going to carry the day next November.

So perhaps, the country will be forced to make decisions actually based on issues, rather than on spin and mischaracterizations as advanced by professional henchmen like the disgraced Mr. Rove.

At least I can dream, can’t I?

This entire Newt thing is somewhat perplexing to me.

I mean, here is the guy who was the very commandant of the right wing attack dogs.

And in spite of his recent reasonable comments, I defy anyone to counter the claim that he, more than any other human being alive, was responsible for the lowest common denominator replacing somewhat civil discourse in Washington.

And though it is hard to feel sorry for mean little pr!cks, I sometimes wonder if he has truly had some sort of epiphany and regrets what he did.

I VERY much doubt it.

And though he is still the darling of these hate-mongers on the far neo-con right, most of the nation rightfully looks at him with distrust and disdain.

But it would have been exceptionally interesting to watch him turn up the vitriol one last time to campaign for his inane ideology.

Hillary-Gulianni:

This would be an interesting election for both parties. The funny thing is that I think Hillary being elected would be the best possible outcome for the GOP.

If gulianni is nominated and then elected as president, it would marginalize several strong GOP voting blocks. For 4 years, the phrase “sanctity of marriage” would not be mentioned by the GOP. The christian right and the NRA blocks of the voting public would only get lip service, these are not guliannis values. Big business would stay with gulianni to an extent, but a gulianni presidency would likely lead to further DEM majority increases in the house and senate, they are already at a numerical disadvantage in the number of GOP seats up for senate vs the number of dem seats. Also many long serving GOP senators do not want to serve a full term as a minority party after having been in power, I think 4 have announced they will not seek reelection thus far.

If Hillary gets elected, the chrisitan right and NRA can look at gulianni’s loss to reclaim their value to the GOP. 2008 will most likely see congressional seats go to the dems, but 2010 will be a major backlash year if Hillary is elected. Nothing brings the GOP together like some good old fashioned blame clinton rhetoric, no doubt the budget and whatever wars are started by Bush (afghanistan, iraq, maybe iran) will all have gone perfectly if only Clinton didn’t mess everything up.

Face it, the GOP is best as a minority party of complainors with great campaigning skills, it is how they act after they are elected that is the problem.

The closest parrelel I can find to the chinese system would be 1930s germany, which was primarily war and preperation for war related, but did bring about a great deal of scientific advancement and funding for the government of germany. the Nazis started a war, and the government and it’s form of economy were shut down by 1944, so it is tough to see how it would work long term. There is still a tendency in the EU for this type of government supported capitalism, think DHL and Airbus, both of which are fairly succesful.

Interesting to see how it plays out.

RW,

I hadn’t read her in a while, since the now defunct times select pay site went through.

Usually you see it in movie and tv reviews.

EX:

The half hour news hour is a lame attempt at being humorous, a right wing creation meant to be on par with the daily show but in fact is an moronic, outrageously dissapointing flop.

Review:

Hi Paul,

{Many conservatives have been saying that (the invasion is not in our best interests) for years.}

Though that piece was written in 2002, perhaps, I’ve just missed it or maybe they were just been drowned out by the administration and their dwindling loyalists, but who exactly are these many conservatives?

From what I can see, the rank and file Republican has lined up unquestioningly behind this “grand experiment” and still, to this day, refuses to admit the plausibility that it was a grievous error.

NOT ONE single GOP US Senator voted against authorizing the preemptive invasion of Iraq. NOT ONE!

So either, apparently there are as I’ve asserted, virtually no conservatives in Washington or they have just recently silent on the issue.

In fact only one Republican with any stature I can think of - Chuck Hagel of Nebraska, has loudly and unmistakably voiced his opinion against this “war”.

Yeah, the son is going to learn Farsi, Arabic, Chinese, Korean or who knows what as “the needs of the military come first”!

He laughed right before he shipped out and said jokingly, of course, it was a shame this wasn’t during WWII, as he had two years each of Japanese and German in high school!

BD,

Not much of an experience in China, I mean I have a friend who has been working in China for about a year and a half, my wifes family is from there, and I visited bejing and shanghai 2 years ago.

Amazing place, funny ideas about history, extreme poverty for the people, tremendous growth and construction, palpable govt control in bejing, much more relaxed in shanghai. Horrible drivers, really scary.

There is repression in CHina, a large amount of it is unreported mostly due to local govt corruption and the lack of any popular recourse (civil courts) due to government policy. They have a huge standing army, much of which is occupied with tring to control the local populace. It is tough to get a handle on what the 1 child policy is, when you hear it from this side of the ocean, it is forced abortion by government mandate, when I was in China, the policy was explained as the government will only support 1 child per family, any children after that will be denied state benefits such as schooling and health care.

Tehran: Split between liberal, hard-line

TEHRAN, Iran - The shops are full of Western pop music and movies — the latest Harry Potter film, even “The Simpsons.” Young women stroll the streets in skinny jeans and short coats, their heads barely covered, arm-in-arm with boys in muscle shirts and spiky hair. This is affluent north Tehran, where clerics are rare, lifestyles are relatively liberal and Iran’s growing isolation from the world is a source of deep anxiety.

Ya know if we didn’t have King George continually stirrin up the hornet’s nest, Imanutjob would probably be voted out and Iran saved from religious nutjobs by these “LIBERALS”.

Problem is ya have to start at the source. First the liberals have to save America from the religious nutjobs here, then America can support Iranian liberals so they can save Iran from the religious nutjobs over there.

Fightin em here, so we can fight them over there!!!

Could be a case of reading the same thing and understanding two different things.

I connected “conservatives - agree with Wolfowitz (generally regarded by many as pretty extreme, so here it’s saying mainstreamers must agree with an extremist - I’ve met plenty of cons who thought the Perle/Wolfowitzs were a bit nutty, hence a new term “neocon”) - attack Egypt, Saudi Arabia (who exactly proposed that? Wolfowitz? I’d be shocked if even he was that irresponsible. Otherwise, it seems like the making false assumptions stated as fact so many are fond of doing) -

The writer went far beyond Iraq when he included those other countries.

Interesting the Iraq issue was framed as conservative/liberal.

Then the writer was surprised that members of a diverse group didn’t fit his singular, extreme definition.

No wonder there’s such a gulf.

I’d always thought it more of a conservative principle to mind one’s own business. Personally and internationally. Help out when needed, when someone can’t do for themselves. That argues against broad interventionism. Many, though, seem to think if others are in a bad way, we have to “help” - even if that means invasion.

Sounds as if your son has quite an aptitude. If he got quite a signing bonus, might be the time to introduce him to the joys of mutual funds. I sure hope he doesn’t get the idea all military bases are located in places like Monterey!

RE,

Saw your post,I was in Bejing early last year.

Saw the framework of the new stadium, stood in Tianammen Square, visited the Forbidden City and the Winter Palace.

All those steps wore this old broad out!

I can’t remember exactly where it was, but we walked down a very modern street at night with food vendors lined up under red striped awnings. Everything you could imagine, deep fried and on a stick. Bugs, Birds, Snakes Yum-a-roo!

As I stood at the gate of the forbidden city, the locals lined up to have their picture taken with the red-headed american. I was a bit embarrassed, but the Chinese people were warm and friendly.

It was a marvelous trip and am looking at maybe going back in February.

For reasons known only to him. The whole thing was/is well known throughout the bldg where only the hangers on had use for him. It was quite comical, punk. Newt still has a relative in that bldg and I a couple of friends as well. it’s not at all impossible that Newt and I will meet again. And he will dirty his diaper again. This mean-spirited, tough-talking neocon whom so many adore - dreading each day, morning and night, that he may cross my path. The tough guy. Terrified (his words). Even tho for months I had not bothered to speak to him - always just smiled at him and stared thru him w my beautiful dark blue Scandanavian eyes. Yes, I enjoyed every moment of his obvious discomfort. What is it within him that frightens him so? What could it be? I have photos of him and the midget who followed behind him 10 paces. A strange sight to behold. He had the midget for 10 months. “Stalked” him? Why is it that weaklings like you are so afraid of others?? Just a week or so ago it was either Dust or Duh here who was screaming about having been “threatened” on this blog, asking AJC for assistance. By RE

Sort of;

And it is not filthy poverty, it is actually amazingly clean poverty, there is no trash on the streets at all, not just the cities, the countryside as well. Every resource is recycled, not from some higher calling of enviornmentalism, but from a basic need and scarcity of resources.

And on the history thing, I went to the forbidden city and tienamin square, both had been built almost 1300 years ago (give or take, you can check). Anyway, the thing is if there is an old stucture in the US, say 200 years old, great pains will be taken to keep it in the same condition to preserve it’s original integrity, in China when I was there they were putting new roofs on the building in the forbidden city, they matched the period but were upgraded, and were repainting the walls and architecture. It is like they do not think of these places as museum pieces not to be touched, but as working structures meant to be upgraded while keeping to it’s original spirit.

I think the religious repression is to an extent overhyped. There is a tremendous distrust of any group gathering not approved or supportive of the state, but it is not specifically targeted to religion. But the Buddhist temples were well attended, and quite beautiful. Christianity is not popular there more because of cultural differences, not a state sanctioned ban. China allows christian churches, but keeps them tightly controlled, like everything else.

You’re right on about the old structures in Bejing….

Completely different in Hong Kong.

Great City, but very little “old” stuff. Very little left from the British Colonial period, and at that time they were fighting to tear down the western market.

Also right about how clean it is.

Although, you probably noticed how gray a sunny day is…..the air is very bad.

I gotta get to Taiwan someday Mrs. G, that is the next big trip. When you get into the history of Chang and Mao, it is kind of a toss up of which one would be worse for china. It is also odd how different the US perception of Taiwan- China relations are from the realities when you actually talk to someone from taiwan. A large portion of taiwan considers themselves as a part of china, but would like to keep independant government. Other want a complete split from china. You usually only hear from the latter group in this country.

Yeah, i didn’t know about that part, the great wall is not some flat structure you can just walk along. The thing about China is that the Chinese diet is so perfect, they dont need toilet paper, they simply pinch off a loaf perfectly and it’s as clean and tight as a frog’s patoot! Few westerners know this, and that’s why when the olympics come be sure to bring your own triple rolls, cause you’re gonna need them.

China persecutes Christians. there’s no question. You can be executed if you have a bible. If you dont believe it, then please show up at the olympics with a bible and let chinese authorities see it at the security check. You’ll be shot on sight like a terrorists would be. Fact.

Another little known fact is that the chinese are hosting the special olympics in 2012. They are building dozens of short busses to take the athletes from the dorms to the stadiums.

It is a big problem Paul, and it does need to change. China is pushing solar as much as any other country, again for dependance more than enviormentalism. The air is really bad in China, I am wondering how the olympic runners will deal with that.

I have a problem with the idea that because everyone will not go along, we should do nothing.

Funny watching Bush on Global Warming, we should have a goal set for summer 08, no doubt with a grand plan he will draw up that will just happen to go into effect in 2009.

I kinda get the sense that this is the rental car presidency. He knows he is turning in the keys to the country in 2009, so whatever he does between now and then will be someone else’s problem.
