Um, Rudy’s finger is pointing at the 12 minute tick.

Apparently, he has moved on from 9/11, while the cartoonist hasn’t.

~~~~~
The Atlanta Urinal Constitution, in cooperation with Al Qaeda, is somewhat miffed to bring you the following news:
{{{{Agents say ruse used on terror suspect- FBI wants evidence admitted against Roswell man charged in 2006 with plotting with Muslim extremists in Toronto.-Urinal}}}}
The infidels tricked us!
Not fair, not fair!
ACLU, ACLU!
It is a constitutional right to scheme blowing up innocent women and children, uh, that’s what you liberals told us to say, isn’t it?
Let me go, waaaaaa!
~~~~~~

Getting tough out there to find “help:”

{{{{Maj. Gen. Abdul-Jalil Khalaf, Basra’s police chief, said the suicide bomber’s legs were found tied to the steering wheel —- clearly an attempt by the attack’s planners to prevent the driver from running away.-Urinal}}}}

~~~~~~
{{{{Episcopal bishops retreat on gays Episcopal leaders, pressured to roll back their support for gay people to keep the world Anglican family from crumbling, affirmed that they will “exercise restraint” in approving another gay bishop and will not approve prayers to bless same-sex couples.}}}}
~~~~~~

{{{{Though there’s no Outer Perimeter in the plan, officials noticed that if you string together arterials like Ga. 20 and Ga. 92, you get nearly a whole ring around metro Atlanta.}}}}

Oh, great, so now the Outer Perimeter is Ga. 92, wonderful.

The same 92 that is impassable at 3 in the afternoon and has traffic lights “synchronized” to stop the flow of vehicles every few hundred feet, even at 5 in the morning.

And here’s DOT, our very own knights in shining armor, the people tasked with keeping the traffic in metro Atlanta moving, all happy with themselves because they found Ga. 20 on a map.

WE ARE SCREWED.

{{{“Rudy Giuliani Spent 29 Hours At Ground Zero In Three Months”

Here’s what Giuliani previously said about the time he spent at Ground Zero after 9/11: “I spent as much time here as anyone…I was here five, six times a day for four months. I kind of thought of it as living here.” Apparently, he may have exaggerated just a bit.

From the article:

Twenty-nine hours.

That’s the total amount of time Rudy Giuliani actually spent at Ground Zero in three months following the attacks, according to a report in this morning’s New York Times.

Rudy, you’ll recall, recently caused a huge controversy by saying he’d spent as much or more time at Ground Zero than “most” of the 9/11 recovery workers. These new revelations about his time at the site are almost certain to raise yet more questions about his efforts to run for President partly on his performance after 9/11 — and to further enrage the firefighters, cops and rescue workers who despise him for those efforts and accuse him of falsely lionizing his own 9/11 performance. }}}

Says it all don’t it!

That’s funny - with you libs it’s always 9/10. You don’t even like to admit that it happened. We were attacked. Radical Muslims did it. We are fighting them now on two active fronts and covertly. There has not been an attack since. Obviously something has been done right. Even France is taking our side now on most of these issues. Let’s fact it -with you folks it is always ‘hate America first’ and give simpathy, aid and comfort to our sworn enemies, no matter how odious. You also want to destroy our friends, especially Israel. Der Spiegel is just full of good articles today:

[Based on the official list of campaign donors published last Friday, it seems that Big Business has also turned its back on the Republicans. Sixty corporate CEOs who had previously donated primarily to the Bush campaigns — including John Mack of Morgan Stanley, Rupert Murdoch of NewsCorporation and Terry Semel of Yahoo — are now giving more money to the Democrats.

Indeed, it’s already time for goodbyes at the White House. In recent weeks, some of the president’s closest advisors have been so quick to have their names stricken from the government’s personnel files that one might think some deadly disease had broken out in the Oval Office……It is all too apparent that the political energy is seeping out of the West Wing of the White House, which forms the heart of the US adminstration with the Oval Office and the Cabinet Room. Gone are the days when a buoyant president, when asked to name his favorite philosopher, cheerfully declared it was “Jesus.”](http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/0,1518,507662,00.html)

By the way, how does the definition of “neocon” fit with someone that thinks climate change is normal and needs no drastic action taken? It seems to me like taking drastic action in advance of positive proof is the textbook definition of neocon theory. How does it feel to be a weather NEOCON?

SUPPORT THE TROOPS and vote for/contribute to members of our government, who will do more than just talk about it.

Four Members of Congress and TRUE patriots - ALL Democrats, of course - who served during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan:

Rep. Patrick Murphy - Bronze Star, US Army

Rep. Joe Sestak - retired Vice Admiral, US Navy

Rep. Tim Walz - served 24 years and attained the rank of Command Sergeant Major in the National Guard

Chris Carney - A Lieutenant Commander in the United States Naval Reserve, Carney served multiple tours overseas, activated for operations Enduring Freedom and Noble Eagle.

The following three candidates are all Iraq veterans and also have an excellent chance to reach the House of Representatives (John Boccieri, Jonathan Powers, and Adam Cote).

Our troops and veterans desperately need this representation in Congress, and our nation needs these leaders to preserve and strengthen our military and national security.

At the same time, those in Congress who are not serious about supporting the troops and protecting America must be swept out of office.

I.E., Senators George Allen, Rick Santorum, Conrad Burns, and Jim Talent, and defeated Representatives Melissa Hart, Gil Gutknecht, and John Sweeney.

As we all know, this election is pivotal. The vote in Nov. 08 will determine whether we continue to force our military to stay bogged down in Iraq, breaking our Army and Marine Corps, and putting America in danger, or if we’ll go on the offense against al Qaeda and protect America.

We can and will play a huge role in shaping the future.

Now, keeping in mind that most liberals are paranoid morons who need government to look out for their every move in life, lest they should actually, gasp, take of themselves, the horror, most of them would be on the pro government regulation side of the issue, like little federal dhimmis.

The rest of us, not having been blinded by stupid foaming at the mouth hysteria can clearly see that, other than national defense, the government has pretty much been an abysmal failure at anything that it has ever undertaken. This puts us on the pro private industry side.

This is not that hard to figure out:

1) Private industry provides the tax dollars that the government works so hard to frivolously waste.

The government doesn’t grow money on trees, contrary to what you dimwit liberals must think, they have to tax private industry to finance their follies.

So if you cripple private industry with regulation, then who will you liberals turn to for coddling and sustenance if the government has no one to tax?

Duh,

Morning. I find we agree on something at last — traffic in Atlanta sucks, and there is no end in sight. You rode in a deuce and a half, eh? Good. Perhaps you do understand death. I do not drink. Though the disabled tag on my SUV isn’t decoration, I’m anything but a war hero. The use of the term applied to what I did and where I did it is an affront to anyone who served when we were for something as opposed to everything. The MoveOn ad was a vicious slap at a general by idiots of the same mind as those who came up with $9.11 donation fiasco. Both underscore absence of meaningful political debate these days. The pronoun “that” is usually associated with inanimate objects (he skips the cheap shot), whereas “who” is preferred for humans. “Whom” is archaic, though still in use. If you were referring to ME as a POS, “who” is correct. If you were referring to POS, then “that” is sufficient.

Private enterprise might not be a model you’d want to sell at the moment. Cost-plus contracts for shoddy work that seldom gets finished, $28 meals for troops, destroying equipment for lack of a proper tool, mowing down innocent Iraqis without consequence, open hatred between our troops and well-paid civilians they risk their lives to defend. Consider that the same American consumer that harps on government to provide for the “poor,” will happily go out of their way to find excuse to buy the Toyota, usually under the ridiculous premise of a “better product,” and at the same time take benefits away from the American worker, thereby lowering their hourly wage.

I’ve seen this kartoonist take advantage of the good things that GM has done over the years for all of it’s workers, by drawing a kartoon that tries to extort MORE benefits out of GM, and at the same time his “news” paper is rubbing GM’s nose in the success of Toyota.

Wrong, RW. Fascism is from Italy in the 1922-1943 era. You see, Mussolini and his wife, Pussolini, wanted totalitarian right wing nationalistic control over every aspect of Italian lives. That’s why the trains to the shopping malls always ran on time.

Now, Italian Fascism differs from German Fascism in that Heetler unt his frauline Teetler, wanted timely train schedules, yes, but more important, they vanted total control over everything down to the design of the automobiles, and thus the volksvagen bug was born. Also, Heetler wanted control over miller time in Germany, and he choreographed the Leiderhosen Slap Dance which is still performed by drunken ex-nazis today in Munich during octoberfest.

I’m with Luck. We were better off when there weren’t any damn unions, or child labor laws, or worker safety laws, or laws enforcing a 40 hr. week, or minimum wage laws, or food safety laws, or laws meant to make sure drugs are safe, or medicaid, or medicare or social security, or federally funded student loans or pell grants. We were also better off when a business could not hire women or blacks if they chose not to. Back then people were happy to live on the stamps that they made from the coal mine that could be traded for food at the store owned by the coal mine. It looked like indentured servitude but who had the education to know what the hell that meant?

Back then the poorest in society were the elderly. Now they are the richest. We can go to stores and trust that the meat we eat will likely not kill us. Our kids aren’t working in coal mines and steel mills. Our workers aren’t getting their hands chopped off in industrial accidents. Essentially now you can be born poor and apply yourself and become rich whereas back then if you started off poor that’s where you were staying and vice versa. I mean this just f-ing sucks!

Yeah as always you are right, Luck. We were much much better off before FDR. Ever since FDR we’ve been struggling to remain relevant in the world. I’d like to be the world’s only superpower, but we’ll never get there until we get rid of these damn libs and their social programs.

getalife - Clinton is looking at government reform in the same way Lenin did - by having the government do everything! Louisiana will only fix the corruption when all of the Edwards, Landrieus and Nagins are out of office. The legacy of the Long family runs deep and is the child of the Democrat party. Jindhal may be able to do it, but I doubt it as long as your folks keep control of the legislature.

Term limits are a silly idea whose time should never come. Nations like Mexico, Peru and Chile have term limits. Look at what happens in those places! Great Britain has none and they don’t need them. The best kind of term limits are elections! In fact, term limits tend to encourage an entrenche bureacracy to whom the legislators and elected administrators become completely beholden.

Always think through these ‘reforms’ because you might get more than you have bargained for!!!

As the campaigns “move on”, there is a near palpable panic revealed daily now by the discredited Bush loyalists/apologists and party first neo-cons here and throughout the land.

And though they are historically always WAY behind the curve, they are finally beginning to sense what mainstream America has known since last November - they will not evolve and therefore they are quickly going extinct.

YET! These are the blind mice who “think” they got lambasted last November because they didn’t remain true enough to this inane neo-conservatism first espoused by Reagan!

These mental midgets also say the Islamic murderers hate us “for our freedom” and the President is so unpopular because “we didn’t do a good job of getting his message out”.

Look at their sheer desperation and the growing animosity of the writings by the usual suspects here for evidence that they and their repudiated philosophies are again going to get their proverbial clocks cleaned.

So they are rightfully very discouraged and hope beyond hope it isn’t so. And they pray to their god that their autumn is not here, but even they no longer believe it.

All of the other philosophies demonstrated here - those in countless cases that are diametrically opposed to this “new” GOP - Libertarian, Independent, Moderate, Progressive, Populist, Traditional, Green and Conservative - though are steadfastly optimistic and relatively light of heart as they know the far right wing swan song they are hearing is unmistakable.

And the good news comes from an ever widening and growing number of quarters. And I, for one, love being a harbinger of this tale.

There are good days ahead for the nation and the neo-cons are hating it as it spells their own demise.

They can all GFT, Go “Find” Themselves.

Goldie,

If your child is killed by a poisonous toy made by Mattel, pull yourself up by the bootstraps and buy from someone else next time. You see the “invisible hand of the market” cures all. If Company A poisons kids then people will then buy from Company B. Now some libs might say that if the consumer has to fear things on the market that it may reduce spending across the board, but that makes to much sense for my winger mind to absorb.

Also, just because you kid is killed by a poison toy don’t go hiring any lawyers to get paid money for your dead kid. You took the risk when you bought it so just suck it up and move on.

You see we can have one of two things, either a coorporate dominated country where we are all treated as carrion for the vultures to pick over until we’re all used up or we can have communism. What we can’t have is a debate where you have one side which tries to protect the consumer/citizen and the other side which tries to protect profits so that in the end some sensible balance is made between regulation and the interests of business. No you can’t have that b/c it makes too much sense and it isn’t ideological. Its an intelligent and sober debate about what is in the best interest of the most people and therefore it can’t happen.

Duh — This scares me, but I agree with you totally on government inefficiency and believe that private enterprise delivers the best for the buck when properly utilized. Problem is, the mantra remains “Follow the Money.” Skip the China fiasco for the moment, and take a look at the auto industry. If the government had not placed protective tariffs on Toyota, Nissan, Honda — the list goes on — the U.S. auto industry would have folded long ago. We just can’t maintain our standard of living without some government help. There’s a plant in Greenville, Miss., in which a woman worked for three different companies. When one cut and ran to the Pacific Rim, she’d sign on with the next at a lower wage and fewer benefits. IMHO, NAFTA has exacerbated the problem, as have Americans who prefer to buy cheap crap at Wal-Mart — which once billed itself as champion of American-made products. We own two Ford trucks, BTW. Without intelligent government oversight, which may well be an oxymoron, our way of life would be gone rather than severely compromised. Show me a leader who won’t fill his pockets with all the loose change his connections bring him, I’ll help you carry him to the White House and then buy you a beer and myself a Diet Coke. Ain’t gonna happen, my friend, so the best we can hope for is someone who is not too corrupt, not too greedy and not too wrapped up in his Hubris to look out for this country. Find me a person who’ll look out for our schools and give them the priority and a fraction of the money spent in the Middle East. We’re rotting from the inside out, and it’s about time we locate someone somewhere who’ll work as hard to ‘liberate’ the U.S. as we’ve done in Iraq. The Dems don’t have one, and neither can one be found in the GOP front-runners.

Shawny — Huckabee looks pretty good when compared to the rest of the bunch on both sides. He’s a conservative who appears to believe people have a right to make their own choices for themselves, which is about all we Dems can hope for. I’m hoping Gore decides to jump in and informs the debate between Clinton and Obama, neither of whom has one iota of credibility.

Here’s a couple of things about her:

Advancement Project - Los Angeles

These are GOOD!

Goldie — If Bush and VP Halliburton haven’t been disgraced by the last seven years, it’s unlikely they will ever call upon themselves to atone for what their administration has done to this country. The so-called war on terrorism exists in large part to keep us so occupied on foreign matters we forget what’s happening inside our borders. The 9/11 attack was spectacular and made for great video. The depths to which this country has sunk under this pair in much harder to fit into a couple of minutes of TV time. “Do you know how to catch wild pigs?”

“You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground. The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn.

When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming. When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence.

They get used to that and start to eat again. You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side. The pigs, who are used to the free corn, start to come through the gate to eat, you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.

Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom. They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught. Soon they go back to eating the free corn. They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.

This is exactly what is happening to America. The government keeps pushing us toward Communism/socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc. While we continually lose our freedoms — just a little at a time.

One should always remember “There is no such thing as a free lunch!” Also, “You can never hire someone to provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.

If you see that all of this wonderful government “help” is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America and if you think the free ride is essential to your way of life then you will probably call this neocon BS, but God help you when the gate slams shut!

Think about it!

I too believe that Condi’s hands are basically tied by the CIC and his policies. And she is one of the more pronounced Bush loyalists going back to their Texas days together in an administration comprised almost entirely of cronies and sycophants.

But can’t ONE of these Bush yes men/women stand up publicly and say, “NO, Mr, President. Fire me if you must, but I believe your policy in regards to this that or the other is wrong and here’s why.”

At least Ronnie had the guts to hire Jim Baker, a political adversary, and Clinton, the courage to hire William Cohen, a retiring Republican Senator, who during his confirmation hearings, said he thought on occasion he might differ with Clinton on specific national security issues.

Absolutely hysterical!

The ball Barry Bonds hit for his record-breaking 756th home run will be branded with an asterisk and sent to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Fashion designer Marc Ecko, who bought the ball in an online auction, set up a Web site for fans to vote on the ball’s fate, and Wednesday announced the decision to brand it won out over the other options — sending it to Cooperstown unblemished or launching it into space.

Ecko said he believed the vote to brand the ball showed people thought “this was shrouded in a chapter of baseball history that wasn’t necessarily the clearest it could be.”

Getalife,

In reference to the article on biofuel emmisions, i think there is a confusion in terms, the german article refers to greenhouse gas emmisions, specifically nitric oxide. While there may be a lower net CO2 emmision, total greenhouse gas emmision may be increased, not really sure. I am not sure if they included the differentiaition between atmospheric and sequestered Nitric oxide emmsion and CO2 emmision.

Not lying, just a difference in terms.

Bj in ky: I wish it were that simple but I have yet to hear an American automaker ask for government tariffs to protect them.

What I have heard them complain about is their legacy costs, pensions and health care, that the Toyotas of the world do not have to pay.

Think about this, GM sells more autos than anyone else in the world and still loses tens of billions every year.

I’ve always bought American. I had a Ford, way back when, and have owned GM ever since. The last ten years I’ve had one head gasket blow and it was covered by the warranty, with no deductible. My current ride is the damn best looking one on the road hands down, you can’t miss it. It has a 100,000 mile drive train warranty, which is unreal. The new style Tahoe and Escalade are beyond sweet.

Even in the most gruesome days of the Chrevolet Citation, GM still had some fine automobiles, the Buick Skylark and Regal were my favs. Name one year model of Cadillac that anyone would not be proud to own.

All this, and they were providing better benefits to their workers than anyone else was. What excuse did anybody really have for buying a foreign car?

It’s called America first.

We should try it.

Bosch, don’t know much about this Karen Hughes. What little I have read is fairly repulsive.

BUT, absolutely there is no question that Powell was and is one of the smartest, most effective military men of our time.

His military record is impeachable and his accomplishments and awards are truly staggering.

And it is too bad this man of courage, intellect, reason and honor was not allowed to override the numerous neo-cons and chickenhawks in this administration.

{Powell came under fire for his role in building the case for the 2003 Invasion of Iraq. In a press statement on February 24, 2001 he had said that sanctions against Iraq had prevented the development of any weapons of mass destruction by Saddam Hussein. As was the case in the days leading up to the Persian Gulf War, Powell was initially opposed to a forcible overthrow of Hussein, preferring to continue a policy of containment.}

{However, Powell eventually agreed to go along with the Bush administration’s determination to remove Hussein. He had often clashed with others in the administration, who were reportedly planning an Iraq invasion even before the September 11 attacks—an insight supported by testimony by former terrorism czar Richard Clarke in front of the 9/11 Commission. The main concession Powell wanted before he would offer his full support for the Iraq War was the involvement of the international community in the invasion, as opposed to the unilateral approach some of the hawks were advocating. He was also successful in persuading Bush to take the case of Iraq to the United Nations, and in moderating other initiatives. Powell was placed at the forefront of this diplomatic campaign.}

Aside from that, I agree.

Interesting note, the most succesful automakers currently are Japan, Germany, and South Korea. All have some type of govt mandated health care.

You are correct in saying that the healthcare burden of GM, Ford and Chrsyler drags down production cost with “legacy cost”

Here is a little conundrum, if health care responsibility is shifted from the employer to the government and it in turn makes the company more profitable, would that be beneficial? Where is the conservative line on that, socialized medicine might be more profitable to private industry.

Continuation-

{{{{We just can’t maintain our standard of living without some government help.}}}}

Jimmy Carter?

I’m not totally against government providing help when it is really necessary, but no matter what, I am against them assuming control of the private industry. Sarbanes Oxley is a massive compliance cost that may have contributed to the recession in 2002- 2003. And this is a matter for the justice department to enforce, not Congress just arbitrarily punishing everyone.

People actually do look for better jobs when there current ones are unrewarding or lacking in compensation. I’m pretty sure it is all voluntary and the old saw about getting what you pay for is still in effect. If an employer is paying 3 bucks an hour he is not going to attract skilled craftsman, nor will he turn a profit with substandard labor.

It’s the workings of the free market at it’s finest.

{{{{Find me a person who’ll look out for our schools and give them the priority and a fraction of the money spent in the Middle East.}}}}

I understand the thought behind your statement but disagree with your suggestion. Throwing more money at something such as education is not going to solve anything, we have already covered them up with tax dollars.

If you want to “fix” the education system, look at what we are teaching our kids and who is teaching our kids. If we rid the system of the agendas and replace it with actual curricula and actual teachers, maybe we’ll get actual students.

I’m not sure that’s the right description of the ESPN event, but it was the closest I could come up with. It was supposed to be a panel discussion with a moderator, but they did it in front of a live audience and took questions and commentary from the audience. It was pretty strange.

The panel was Terrance Mathis, Neal Boortz, Terrance Moore, some women from the New York Times, and Chuck James moderated by Bob Ley.

I don’t think they ever said the woman was a sports writer and her graphic always just said NYT. She spoke more like a feature/lifestyle writer so she and Boortz seemed pretty out of place.

I thought way back up ^^^ there you started off talking about serving sentences for convictions. It seems to me that was speaking from a legal perspective.

/OK maybe I pulled a little bit of a fast one :-)

Goldie,

The law in Georgia has already been changed and will likely be tweaked more in the next session, but if we’re going to be a country of law we have to operate under the laws as they exist and work to change the bad ones, not just ignore the ones we don’t like.

I am talking about shifting the health care burden from the employer to the government, which seems to be working well in Japan, Germany, and South Korea. Cuts out all the legacy costs and provides real security, lotd of folks who were expecting lifetime pension/ heallthcare coverage from private corporations are getting the rug pulled out from them after they retire. The burden then falls to the government anyway.

Healthcare is an anomoly when it comes to market forces, because as opposed to any other product or service, it does not conform to the laws of supply and demand. Health care is always supplied, but not always paid for. The very poor and those folks you despise as living off the government teet will be covered under medicare, medicade, our some other state/ county program including non US citizens. That shortfall in payments is then shifted back to the people who actually pay for insurance in higher premiums or in higher taxes. I own a business, it sucks to insure my family.

No, RW— I do believe that we’ve both agreed that we have an arrogant, idiot prez who has always had others clean up the messes he’s created… wasn’t that you, or am I confusing you with some wingnut who had a moment of clarity here on the blog?

RE,

If you own a business then you know your insurance is tax deductible which it isn’t for an individual that wants to buy insurance.

Allow everyone to be treated the same under the tax code, rein in the trial lawyers, and open up the insurance industry to competition in the free market and we might get somewhere.

Why are your only choices the employer or the government and why draw the line at health insurance? How about buying everybody a house and car on the “government’s” money?<————Something that doesn’t exist by the way. It’s OUR money.

RW @ 5:18 — the question is why have “health insurance” at all? Why don’t we have “police insurance” that everyone in America has to buy or else they don’t get any services, or they get bills that makes them go into bankruptcy? Why did we let our healthcare system get taken over by the insurance industry to begin with???

I’ll be damned.

I have always contended that when I misspoke or made a mistake I would man up and admit it. And this is one of those times.

I recently sent a letter protesting the vote against the Webb Amendment to Senator Chambliss.

I said I really doubted if he would reply. I was wrong.

He sent me a five paragraph reply stating his reasons.

I sent him a very short reply back saying though I disagreed with some of them, I nonetheless respectfully appreciated the information and his answers.

Agree with our elected leaders or not, you gotta love our representative democracy and this great nation!

Goldie,

Oor health care system wasn’t taken over by insurance companies, it was our thinking we were entitled to employer paid health insurance in the beginning. Once employers started providing “free” insurance the creep began.

The creep was that lawyers saw a goldmine in suing doctors for any conceivable mistake. <——-See John Edwards. The doctors and hospitals started giving every imaginable test and/or procedure to keep from getting sued and we didn’t complain because it was “free.” Insurance claims got to the point that the costs skyrocketed and the cost became too much for the employers to pay and people’s copay started rising dramatically. All of this put us where we are today which is on the path to socialized medicine, because rather than fix the real problems we just want our “free” health care back.

AmVet,

I’ve received a response from every Republican that’s ever represented me when I’ve inquired about something. The only Democrat that’s ever responded to an inquiry of mine is State Senator Curt Thompson and that’s only in cases where he agrees with me. If he’s on the other side he doesn’t respond at all.

Cynthia McKinney never responded to many letters over the years and so far Hank Johnson is 0 for 5.

Hmmm. Dustmite hasn’t experienced much in the way of “heroes.” He classifies drunken Bush as a hero, now Giuliani is a hero as well. What has either ever done?

We hear the word “hero” constantly coming forth from these know-nothings, ever since the first Iraqi military summer-camp adventure. Talk about your dumbed down people.

The moveon ad still makes me laugh when I think about how Reagan once handled a similar event in his run for the California governorship.

Ronnie was endorsed by the John Birch Society then. You remember them, an odd collection of far right wing nut jobs, conspiracy theorists and McCarthy wannabes. (They once called Eisenhower a willing agent of the Communist Party!)

Reagan said that he welcomed the endorsement of ANY law abiding organization that did not infringe on the rights of others.

He also correctly noted in his diary that their support of him did not mean he supported them.

Like him or not, Ronnie was one smart politician!

And today’s Dems could learn a thing or three about having the political courage to NOT let the other side frame the context of the argument.

RW,

No but if watch Lou Dobbs like I am right now, they are still not enforcing the law. State governments are getting sick of it.

The border patrol picked up three drug smugglers, left his vehicle running while he searched theirs, they stole it and went back to Mexico.

Now, they are digging tunnels. No amnesty but no enforcement of the laws, so you could argue it is putting your head in the sand and ignore it.

Maybe if the New York Times would quit putting out a story a day either saying they should have or should not have run the ad the story could die down. They have another article today saying their public editor is full it.

We do need another politician like Reagan. I think it was during one of his races for Governor when he went to Berkley and was well protested. He said the kids were carrying signs saying “Make Love, Not War” and didn’t look capable of either.

Do you think that idiot luckovich ever reads his blog? It would be interesting to see what he thought about Luckoduh noticing right out of the box that the scribbler has the clock saying 9:12 when his entire point was claiming it was always on 9:11. Seems like a fairly significant detail considering the message.

Duh @ 3:03 — With all due respect, you’ve fallen into your own trap. As industry won’t get skilled craftsmen for $3 an hour, neither will public education keep many top teachers for wages paid in that thankless profession. Our problem isn’t pouring tax dollars into our schools, it’s the usual ineptness of the bureaucrats who determine the use of that money. I won’t argue ideology with you; it’s a waste of both our times. But we can agree that you get what you pay for, and even the most dedicated teachers eventually find they have to look out for themselves and their families by taking more lucrative jobs.

{We do need another politician like Reagan.)

Although the poster feels HE does, the rest of the nation certainly doesn’t!

Reagan did some things well but overall he was a total train wreck.

And thank goodness this national scourge known as neo-conservatism, as first defined and championed by RR has been completely repudiated and is now in its death throes.

And the worst of its insulting adherents are being marginalized as they should be.

Unless and until this new incompetent GOP can swear off this disease, they are going to be looking squarely in the face of another forty years on the outside looking in.

But I am optimistict that this country is NEVER again going to let this failed ideology be revived.

Well, actually, when America was the premiere country in education our teachers were working for chump change, something about dedication, commitment and all that.

They cared about the kids.

You can’t really use the craftsman as an example because the higher quality work calls for more skills and that demands more money.

A skilled craftsman can easily find a better job whereas a teacher can’t.
