Some creative ones, indeed. Give ol’ Lucko a run for his money.
The comparison of deer hunting to dog fighting is pathetic, though. Deer hunters pursue a single kill, using it for food primarily. Just as we would eat cows and chickens, except we let others do the killing for us.
Dogfighting serves no purpose and kills multiple animals in a “sport”.

Here comes the latest round of pinko lib scare mongering:
{{{{Feds get tough on Alabama nuclear plant- Screaming Front Page Urinal Headline}}}}
Let’s see here, no one has ever died in the United States because of nuclear energy, meanwhile scores die every year in coal mines, a massive amount of oil is burned to get the coal from the mine to power plant where it can be transformed into the smog being belched out of the smokestacks.
Not to mention coal ain’t cheap.
So what is the hidden agenda, Atlanta Journal Constitution, are you 1) for ruining the environment and killing coal miners, 2) against electrical power production in general, seeing how your “news” paper printing press could be run by hand crank, I suppose, 3) a mass of hysterical sheep bleating about nuclear energy based on what you saw in a Hollywood movie, even though you libs can’t spell “cat” even if you were spotted the C?
(Does anyone realize that by making the movie “The China Syndrome” and sitting on a North Vietnamese anti aircraft gun, that Jane Fonda has done more harm to American strength and prosperity than even Osama Bin Laden? Add up the damages if you don’t believe me.)

{{{{ One Atlanta resident wrote in to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that “As a new substitute teacher, I just received a letter from Fulton County schools warning me not to correct ‘grammer.’ “}}}}
Can you spell “duh?”
{{{{ For many years now, the quality and objectivity of our school textbooks, tests, and teaching materials have been gutted by special interest groups demanding changes and wimpy state legislators who bow to the pressure. The publishers end up altering the textbooks to accommodate the various left-wing (and some right-wing) grievances so that they don’t lose fat state contracts. The real losers in this, of course, are our children. History and literature are distorted through content manipulation. Language is altered in ways that are just plain goofy. Words such as snowman are banished from reading materials in favor of the non-offensive snowperson. Heaven forbid the word devil appear anywhere in a textbook. Depictions of women as traditional housewives are no-no’s. And don’t even think about using a drawing of an American Indian in traditional warrior garb.}}}}
If you want indisputable proof of the harm done by this PC nonsense, just listen to any of these liberals on this blog.
Why do you think we call them dullards?

{{{{Clinton’s campaign in New York is now scrambling to get a handle on just how much trouble Hsu has caused. “We still aren’t sure just how bad this situation is,” says a Manhattan-based political consultant working for Clinton. “Hsu obviously brought in a lot of money, but he also brought in a lot of people and some of those folks were bundling funds too.”}}}}
If I were HSU, I would be reading the story of Vince Foster right now, and pay special attention to the part about suicide.
Eerily familiar, isn’t it?
{{{{Along with campaign finance violations there are the Clintons’ other scrapes with the law — all go back to Arkansas and will continue as long as they are in public life. The Democrats could save themselves a lot of disappointments by finding a cleaner presidential nominee than Hillary. The press cannot be manipulated forever, can it?}}}}

Germany’s unwillingness to impose further sanctions on Iran has pushed the United States closer towards a decision on a military strike, FOX News reported on Wednesday…….. According to the report, Germany’s decision has spurred senior US army officials to try and convince US Foreign Secretary Condoleezza Rice to abandon once and for all the diplomatic route of preventing a nuclear Iran. The report further stated that the date of preference for an attack against Iran is in eight to 10 months - after the US presidential candidates for both the Democrats and the Republicans have been chosen, but before the major presidential campaign kicks off.

On NPR’s Morning Edition today, Petraeus explained — or tried to explain — the numbers:
I want to ask about the reduction in troops that you’ve talked about. I want to first make sure that I understand the numbers that you’re talking about. It’s been said that what you’ve described is a reduction in 30,000 troops. Is that, in fact, what you –
[Petraeus] What I’ve described is a reduction of five brigade combat teams, Army brigade combat teams, the Marine Expeditionary Unit, which actually is coming out this month without replacement, and two Marine battalions. Now, we want to take out other –
That’s a little less than –
[Petraeus] Well, we have to do the math, candidly. We’ve got – I have not yet said how many thousands of troops.
So when people have said 30,000, they’re not quite accurate. It might be 30,000 — it might be quite a bit less.
[Petraeus] Well, we’ve got to determine what it can be. The mission so far, in a sense, was to figure out how to bring these down while sustaining the gains that our troopers and Iraqi troopers have achieved, and also, then, to figure out the larger picture of where else can you reduce forces — which is something we want to do anyway.
They have to do the math, all right. Bush is going to give a BIG SPEECH to the nation tonight accepting the Petraeus plan when Petraeus hasn’t done the math on his plan yet.
No wonder no one believes Bush anymore.

Poor Gen. Petreus — having to take all the blame for Dubya’s disaster from here forward… don’t our generals “answer” to the Commander-In-Chimp and follow the Chimp’s orders?
The war in Iraq has diminished the reputations of many of its generals. As Petraeus returns to Baghdad to continue carrying out President Bush’s strategy, his image has changed as well. Like it or not, he has become a political player, and more than ever before, the U.S. venture in Iraq has become his own.
“Up until this week, it was Rumsfeld’s war,” said retired Army Lt. Col. James Jay Carafano, referring to former defense secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld. “Now, for better or worse, it’s Dave’s war.”
And I don’t care how much Dubya tries to push his slime onto someone else, this war is HIS — and RUMMY’s — and CHENEY’s — and CONDI’s — and ROVE’s…

{{{{During last year’s presidential campaign, John F. Kerry was the candidate often portrayed as intellectual and complex, while George W. Bush was the populist who mangled his sentences. But newly released records show that Bush and Kerry had a virtually identical grade average at Yale University four decades ago. In 1999, The New Yorker published a transcript indicating that Bush had received a cumulative score of 77 for his first three years at Yale and a roughly similar average under a non-numerical rating system during his senior year. Kerry, who graduated two years before Bush, got a cumulative 76 for his four years, according to a transcript that Kerry sent to the Navy when he was applying for officer training school. He received four D’s in his freshman year out of 10 courses, but improved his average in later years.}}}}

“Regarding the testimony of Gen. David H. Petraeus and Ambassador Ryan C. Crocker, it is important to remember that these two men, however honorable, serve at the pleasure of the president, and were sent to Congress to sell the president’s war strategy. Dubya’s surge is only 4 years too late — and apparently his Neo-con admirers have no problem with that or the continuing loss of American lives, and don’t care that it would take millions of troops to secure Iraq properly:
“We have failed in Iraq because our vital national interests have never been at stake, and that has always been the dirty little secret regarding this horrific foreign adventure. We could win in Iraq. We have the resources to do so. It might take a draft and two million men in country, but of course this is not about to happen.— Our Iraqi predicament has never been about a lack of will by the American people as some on the right have suggested, but rather a war that was not worth our will. It is a shame that the arrogance of the neocons and their boy prince prevented them from learning the only lesson worth remembering from Vietnam: Never fight a war unless our vital national interests are at stake, and then do whatever is necessary to win.”

The troops were coming out anyway. Tonight, President Bush will spin the drawdown of surge troops to the status quo ante as “progress.” In fact, the pullout is simply a natural result of the fact the military is overstretched. Gen. David Petraeus acknowledged this week that the 30,000 troops were coming home anyway. “Yes, the surge forces were scheduled to go home between April and mid-July, that is absolutely right,” he said.

Do the math. Locked into the fate of one of America’s most unpopular presidents in history, with the national mood favoring a tidal wave of change, with Republicans plagued by endless scandals, and with a president pushing a disastrous war onto the desk of his successor, 41 Senate Republican seats are in jeopardy in 2008 and 2010….. If Republicans are smart, they will listen to Sen. John Warner (R-Va.), meet with Reid, respect the true opinion of the majority of military leaders, fight to change the policy in Iraq, and recognize that the carnage in Iraq is not only bad for the nation but a cause of the carnage that is headed for the Senate Republican Conference like a freight train coming around the bend.

Doesn’t it figure, a woman democrat from California telling us we might as well get used to being suicide bombed? Why is that Jane, cause there are no real men left in government anymore?
Whatever happened to the notion that government would provide for our common defense, you know, the whole reason it was created in the first place?
And haven’t we come so far in the democrat party, from Kennedy reminding our enemies that we will do whatever it takes to defend America to this freaking woman Harmon, with Al Qaeda listening, advising us to stick our heads between our legs and kiss our as-ses goodbye?
F her.
This is the whole reason that we cannot allow these liberal democrats near the White House, who needs Rose Garden press conferences announcing how good the fire fighter’s radios worked at the neighborhood school bombing, too bad about those thousand kids, we’ll try to be more nicer to Iran.
You libs may have issues with George W Bush but at least he let the terrorists know that there are real consequences to bombing innocent Americans, that being two Middle Eastern countries swarming with soldiers of the U. S. army.
Listen up, Islamic Psychos: This POS woman does not speak for me or for America.
Dear Pakistan: One school bombing, one blown up church, one apartment laying in ruins, the very next day you will be a suburb of India.
Gracious Friends of Saudi Arabia: Send anymore suicide squads our way, we will have a very special treat for you- Imagine if you will, the entire Israeli Defense Force, complete with American strategic airpower, frolicking through your palaces and setting up their camps in Mecca and Medinah.
One dead American child, whole dead Middle Eastern country.

And, you Neo-con cheerleaders love the idea of killing all those innocent children in the Middle East, especially those that live in Iraq, where they have the audacity to live on top of our OIL… you Neo-cons have no problem with choosing any country you want as your “war on terror” even if that country had nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks. President Bush is sticking with his failed plan in Iraq simply because he has to.— He can’t back down after years of blustering about fighting them there so we don’t have to fight them here and other long-discredited rationales. But that’s not all. He can’t back down because the policies of his administration have led to the deaths of almost 4,000 American men and women in uniform and the maiming of tens of thousands more. Changing his mind, even if it would prevent further casualties, would make the previous deaths and injuries seem in vain. He’s in a corner of his own construction with nowhere to go.— It takes courage to own up to mistakes. Bush has never shown courage. Stubbornness, yes. Courage, no. So we’re stuck with a policy that will be handed off to the next administration to fix. That’s par for the course for a man who failed to serve his country during Vietnam, got into Yale as a “legacy” student, rode the coattails of his daddy’s fortune and position through various business enterprises — all failures — and then called on those same daddy figures to help him govern disastrously from the White House.

Alright ml, I’m gonna weigh in on the cartoons. I know it won’t endear me to anyone (so what else is new?) but my favorite is “Peachy”.
For some strange reason the “Izzy” mascot kept coming to my mind. “Is he” a thug? Don’t know…don’t care.
Michael Ramirez is my all-time favorite. Talented artist and his satirical humor is unsurpassed.

Izzy with lowrider pants.
Izzy tapping his foot.
Izzy works in any modern setting, and look how easy ideas are in comedy.
I think everyone is funny. I think everyone should do open mike comedy and make it a thing, like bowling or golf, open to one and all. We would have so much fun explaining ourselves to the world. I’m telling you, it’s the only way to live.
Whose with me? Who will meet me tonight in my van?

The Atlanta Journal Constitution, in cooperation with Al Qaeda, is pleased to announce the following blessed news:
{{{{Iraqi police said security contractors opened fire in a predominantly Sunni neighborhood of western Baghdad, killing at least nine civilians. The U.S. Embassy said contractors working for the State Department were involved in an incident but provided no further details, saying an investigation was under way.}}}}
“Iraqi police?”
That’s good enough word for you?

{{{{Clinton, of course, is risk averse to a fault. She’s got a big lead in the primary polls and probably can’t be beat unless she beats herself. She greatly reduces the chances of that by avoiding anybody carrying a camera or a notebook. But something is lost - say, credibility - when the candidate can’t be bothered to answer tough questions or gives the impression she’s afraid of them. For somebody who has a good shot of being President, it’s time to start acting like one.}}}}

Just like I said:
{{{{What it did produce, stoked by “The China Syndrome,” was a widespread panic. The nuclear industry, already foundering as a result of economic, regulatory and public pressures, halted plans for further expansion. And so, instead of becoming a nation with clean and cheap nuclear energy, as once seemed inevitable, the United States kept building power plants that burned coal and other fossil fuels. Today such plants account for 40 percent of the country’s energy-related carbon-dioxide emissions. Anyone hunting for a global-warming villain can’t help blaming those power plants — and can’t help wondering too about the unintended consequences of Jane Fonda.}}}}
The direct result of a blooming idiot’s hysteria-
{{{{In the United States, an average of 33 coal miners are killed each year. In China, more than 4,700 coal miners were killed last year alone — a statistic that the Chinese government has trumpeted as a vast improvement.}}}}

Having clearly been dragged there against their will by their activist wives, I noticed that the men generally avoided making eye contact with one another. An elderly woman on stage strummed an acoustic guitar and belted out something that sounded like a rightwing parody of a feminist folk song: “Women of birthing; Women of dying; Gather the women; Let the circle begin,” she cooed. I’ve heard some bad music at antiwar protests, but this was by far the worst. I quickly fled the scene.}}}}

{{{{ANSWER had billed the die-in stunt as a major act of civil disobedience. But, in fact, it was nothing of the sort. I lit a disappointment cigarette.}}}}
{{{{I think it was the desire to redeem themselves after the embarrassment of the die-in that caused the protestors to turn militant. They stood up, pushed toward the wall, and chanted aggressive slogans at the cops. “Who do you protect, who do you serve?” they demanded. At several points along the wall, the cops pulled over and arrested a few belligerent protestors. The crowd booed the police and cheered their detained comrades. The anarchists pushed their way to the front.}}}}
{{{{The police showed great restraint. Then, when two young men danced a little too long for the crowd on top of the wall, the police hit them with pepper spray. Blinded and choking, they went over the wall anyway. A protestor taunted the cops, yelling “Ha-ha, they won.” I suppose if you define “winning” as getting gassed and arrested, then yes, the two men won.}}}}

Doom,
Your list is great and I’m truly honored to be your enemy (high 5’s to getalife and raisedanidiot).
It’s also extremely hilarious and witty that you attempt to insult me and getalife by calling us “gay”. I menan, how ingenious it is to label people that you don’t like as being attracted to members of the same sex.
Let’s talk about you Doom. You continue to post drivel on here under the guise of a comic book character. You label people with whom you disagree as “homos” and then in the next post you say how much you love Jesus. A little childish, no? Methinks your sexuality may be in question. Not necessarily a question of whether you’re homo or hetero, but more of a question of whether you’re getting laid. You profile and MO leads me to infer that you have a sex life as deprived as a Catholic priest in an all-girls school.
More importantly, your political commentary is lacking any sense of logic or clarity and views are rather obtuse.
But if there’s one positive thing about you Doom, I must say that you inject sophomoric humor into serious discussions on this blog making you the Flavor Flav of this blog. Keep on clockin’ and shockin’, Doom!

Andy:
Here’s a logical assessment from Stratfor re: the incident involving Blackwater Security.
(((When a convoy is attacked, the contractor’s first priority is to get its charges out of the area as quickly as possible. The long duration of the firefight suggests that the attackers were able to block the escape route or keep the convoy pinned down with heavy direct fire. This suggests the ambush was complex, well planned and well executed. When the shooting was over, at least eight civilians lay dead.)))
(((In this case, the Iraqi government indeed claimed that the Blackwater specialists used excessive force in responding to the attack. However, a 20-minute firefight involving automatic weapons can expend a great deal of ammunition and cause a tremendous amount of damage. A shootout that results in only eight noncombatant fatalities suggests the Blackwater security specialists employed a fair degree of control and discipline.)))

Dear Ann Landers,
I have a problem that I’m a bit embarrassed to discuss, but here goes.
I post on a political blog in my hometown newspaper’s website and met a charming, coquettish young(?) lady there who goes by the name @@. (Don’t ask, I don’t know).
I made the mistake of befriending her once, but I think she misread my intentions.
She is obviously infatuated, maybe even obsessed with me, as she constantly makes unsolicited replies to my post. Mind you, I don’t encourage her in any fashion, but she singles me out for her attentions almost every day.
And though I am a godless heathen, and she is somewhat of a Christian, it has never been a problem for her until recently, when she accused me of having a gd complex. A gd complex! I thought good! Maybe she finally sees that we are like the proverbial oil and water.
But, alas, I think she still harbors deep, if not mixed, feelings for me.
And now on top of everything else, she delusionally thinks I’m cheating on her! She has begun making repeated claims that I post using multiple names.
I swear I am not, but I don’t think I can get her to believe me!
Fortunately, there is a new kid in town, Doom, who is a very slick talker and I think he has tried to move in, (or is it moveon?) on her, but she seems uninterested in him.
Needless to say, I am not sure how to get rid of her. What can I do?

Lack of brains (luckoduh)
Ha huh:
On April 15, former Carter administration staffer Gary Sick gave added weight to the ‘October Surprise’ theory — the allegations that officials in the 1980 Reagan-Bush campaign cut a deal with Iranian revolutionaries to delay the release of the fifty-two hostages until after Reagan’s inauguration — with a 2,000-word op-ed piece in The New York Times…. The day Sick’s piece appeared in the times, listing dates and participants in suspected meetings between campaign staffers and Iranian clerics, none of the network evening newscasts even mentioned the story… there were a number of newsworthy developments…
