And the goonies attack! A minority!:

{{{{Justice inquiry targets Gonzales-Urinal Front Page}}}}

You know, I could see how these libs would be upset with Gonzales if he had actually done his job, like opening federal investigations of Dianne Feinstein and Jack Murtha for steering federal tax dollars to campaign contributors, or maybe Hillary Clinton for campaign finance fraud, but he didn’t, unbelievably.

No all that Gonzales has done wrong is to be a minority and a Republican, and all pinko bets are off.

Go ahead and call him a serial liar, stupid, he’s just like all those people are, a born felon, right?

I’ll bet all of you Mexican national are just so proud of the treatment that your countryman has gotten from the drive by lib media, for what exactly?

Hiring his own people?

Must be a racist thing, huh?

~~~~~~
Geez, and I thought Saddam Hussein didn’t have chemical weapons, imagine the surprise of finding out the United Nations was hiding them for him:
{{{{U.N. weapons inspectors discovered a potentially hazardous chemical warfare agent that was taken from an Iraqi chemical weapons facility 11 years ago and mistakenly stored in their offices in the heart of midtown Manhattan all that time, officials said Thursday.- Urinal}}}}
So Phosgene is a “potentially dangerous” chemical, one that killed thousands in WW1, and are time clocks are set to year 2007, making it “11 years ago,” instead of 6 years ago when we invaded Iraq.
Why must you parse your words and dissemble, AJC? Is this a “potentially dangerous” finding that could damage your Aesops Fable about Iraq WMD programs?
Gee, what other “potentially dangerous” chemicals got misplaced?
Gee, if the United Nations can’t keep track of Iraq’s WMD, how can we trust that they verified it’s “non existence?”
~~~~~

{{{{Craig lied in airport sex arrest-Urinal}}}}

Umm, not defending a homosexual pervert here but which would you consider to be worse:

a) Lying about a homosexual cruising for gay sex?

b) Lying about carrying a loaded gun into the chamber of the United States Senate, like Jim Webb did?

Now you tell me, which one has the AJC made a big stink about and which one have they never said squat about?

Intentionally misleading:

Pentagon disputes assessments of Iraq- Urinal Blaring Headline

The Pentagon is against Bush’s rosy scenario, yeah!!

Well actually, read into the very first paragraph of the story, which the AJC is counting on the common dullard liberal to find to be too much of a chore and a hassle, and it says:

{{{{Stung by the bleak findings of a congressional audit of progress in Iraq, the Pentagon has asked that some of the negative assessments be revised.}}}}

Now ask yourself, if the AJC will go to such great lengths to promote their agenda, is there ANYTHING that you can trust them to give you straight?

Um, no.

Well, Gonzales did serve in the military. Gonzales grew up in a family of 10 with an alcoholic father. He stood his ground in favor of affirmative action against the President’s advisers, so what’s your problem ml?

Oops! My bad. It was because he couldn’t remember whether his grandparents entered the U.S. legally or illegally. CNN’s Ol’ Wolf Blitzkrieg just couldn’t nail him down on that one. Grrrrrrrrr!

I wouldn’t worry too much, faithful Republicans. I’m sure the President can find another crony, I mean AG, who isn’t terribly interested in representing the people but will instead pay the appropriate fealty.

One blunder after another after another with this administration. They just keep coming.

Many would agree that Bush is absolutely killing GOP chances for any kind of real success going forward. Has a sitting president ever been run out of office, by his own political party?

Did you get out of Itaq the way Nugent got out of Vietnam?

{{{ As patriotic as Uncle Ted claims to be, he pulled a nasty stunt to evade Uncle Sam during the Vietnam War. In a July 15, 1990, Detroit Free Press interview, Nugent crowed about how he managed to dodge the draft. He claims that 30 days before his draft board physical, he disavowed personal hygiene. The last ten days he ingested nothing but junk food and Pepsi, and with a week to go until the physical, he stopped using the bathroom altogether. When the big day came, he had been living in excrement-caked and urine-stained pants. Always the hero, however, Nugent reassured the Free Press, “But if I would have gone over there, I’d have been killed, or I’d have killed all the Hippies in the foxholes. I would have killed everybody.”}}}

This bit about AG (Alberto Gonzales Attourney General), note the similar initials, ag, ag, that’s probably the criteria bush used to select him, and is there one person who doubts that?

The depth of W’s ignorance and shallowness is stupifying.

How can his nomination of Harriet Myers go undebated? He choose a typist/receptionist/cleaning lady for the supreme court.

How can we pretend that this county has any leadership whatsoever?

We are adrift in an imperfect maelstrom with a toy captain steering a dummy wheel.

We are at the mercy of the eddies in a hate-festering backwash of ambush, attrition, and retribution.

The war in Iraq will toss and turn unpredictably as the end game narrative grows impossibly complicated and unfixable.

World War One started out like that, with newly formed alliances forcing sober men to make cold blooded decisions.

Well,

If Diogenes were still around, I think he would find Alberto Gonzales the honest man he was searching for. THAT was the downfall of Gonzales. He was TOO honest.

When asked by Congress why Justice Department attorneys were fired, he should have said “I was following Clinton’s superb example of dumping most of them.”

Or when he honestly said he did not remember a statement made at a conference, he should have said “agreed” or “disagreed” which ever one was the best answer to please. Unfortunately, he told the truth and said he did not remember.

Now the last thing a Congressperson expects to hear is an honest answer. Their “suspect” bells go off immediately that some sort of honesty is in the room. So they hasten to rid themselves of such contamination.

When Gonzales mentioned quite honestly that some of his subordinates made decisions…Wrong! Wrong! He should have fallen to his knees crying out that no one was to blame but He!! Gonzales!! Then he should have added quite sweetly that “Now, I have found JESUS!” There would have been sobs and hugs throughout Congress.

But NO!! Gonzales told the TRUTH. Bad boy!!!

Democrats, Republicans or Independents.

WE ARE ALL AMERICAN CITIZENS.

All this hate, yes hate, for Democrats or Republicans smacks of childish behavior.

The important thing is this country needs to move forward. But we have people who want to blame parties.

But if I recall, this country has it’s citizens actually elect people to represent us and legislate.

This country is not better off than it was prior to 9/11. This country’s standing in the world community has been lessened. This countries economy is worse. The United States has still not recovered from Katrina and the levees are still not up to snuff.

We have racism, abysmal SAT scores and families struggle for daily existence.

But yea, it’s easier to blame the democrats and republicans.

It’s time that the citizens of the USA woke up and realized that we are losing the ideals this country was founded on.

Malaki has asked all factions to stop killing.

Both of these guys could have done this months, no years ago. But they waited until there was a strong probability that the US government would be forced to begin withdrawing troops.

Is it that difficult to understand their motivation? THEY DON’T WANT US TO LEAVE!!

Let’s not believe for a second that they want us to stay because they like us. Maliki wants us to stay because if we leave, he’s a dead man! Sadr wants us to stay so that he can help defeat the Great Satan!

{{which would you consider to be worse:

a) Lying about a homosexual cruising for gay sex?

b) Lying about carrying a loaded gun into the chamber of the United States Senate?}

Most/all moral people are repulsed by a US Senator lying about soliciting sex in a public bathroom.

And to compare “the lack of media coverage” to this?!!!!!

A top aide to Sen. James Webb was charged yesterday with trying to carry a loaded pistol and extra ammunition into a Senate office building, U.S. Capitol Police said.

The staffer, Phillip Thompson, told police that the gun belonged to Webb (D-Va.), authorities said. Thompson also said he forgot that the gun was in a briefcase and meant no harm, they said.

Thompson, 44, a longtime friend of Webb’s and the senator’s executive assistant, was jailed pending an appearance today in D.C. Superior Court. He was charged with carrying a pistol without a license and possessing an unregistered firearm and unregistered ammunition.

READ THIS CAREFULLY ANDY:

“I don’t think he intended to harm anybody,” Schneider said. “He was quite cooperative.”

A Senate official familiar with the incident said Webb gave the gun to Thompson as Thompson drove the senator to an airport earlier in the day. When Thompson arrived at the Senate building, he forgot he was carrying the weapon, the official said.

Another source said that Webb’s gun was in a briefcase that was supposed to be dropped off at a location in Virginia before Thompson came into the District.

AND THIS:

Webb, a first-term senator and former Marine, regularly uses a gun for target practice at the National Rifle Association shooting range, the source said. Webb was an expert marksman as a Marine and once taught marksmanship using a .45-caliber handgun, the source said. It is not clear how regularly Webb carries a concealed weapon while in Virginia.

AND THIS:

During his campaign last year, Webb, an advocate of gun rights, pulled out a permit to carry a concealed weapon as a sign of his commitment to the right to bear arms.

So though a few may consider it an equally small transgression for a US Senator to try and “get some” in an airport stall, the rest of America sure doesn’t.

And so, some again refuse to grasp the concept of degrees of error; and that is remarkably telling.

My good thoughts with you and your wife. No telling which way these things go. A family member goes in for the same type of surgery next week - she’d spoken with a friend who was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer, spread to her shoulder, couldn’t do anything but operate followed by chemo/radiation. Couldn’t do reconstructive surgery. That was 12 years ago. Good does come -

N-GA 10:34

Good clarification. That was from the Think Progress link where Rep Tauscher said she “added her name to a list of lawmakers and analysts.” I zeroed in on the “analyst” part - struck me as soooo incongruous - that the HahaLOL wasn’t directed at anyone. Just represented the laughter I was experiencing at the remark!

I’ve seen her interviewed several times. Strike me as being from the “I know what I believe don’t confuse me with the facts” school.

My point was not (emphasis) that Gen Petraeus is motivated by the same “values” as politicians - the point was that Rep Tauscher’s assertion of Gen Petraeus’ character struck me as the same as some cynics’ characterization of many politicians’ motivations - and the fact she doesn’t see him as a selfless individual doing what he thinks is correct is a shame.

BTW - Inthenews link at 8:43 linking to the New York Times article - it’s excellent. I’d hope many here who follow these things will take the time to read the six pages. It’s quite thought-provoking.

Mr. Hey Paul 10:37

The [[Golly gee, would that include the generals the Dems like to trot out who criticize the Pres with their “not me” attitude?]] referenced the half dozen generals (Batiste, Newbold, etc) who criticized yet who came across as either not being part of the process or as part of it but unable to do anything about it. Hey Mr. Paul 11:01

“Opinion masked as fact.”

Not quite. Dems like to cite the generals who criticize the Administration? I’d kinda go with fact on that one. I don’t think they hate it.

Did the generals say they really couldn’t do anything? Yup, fact.

Did they portray others as the responsible party? Yup. Did they take any responsibility for their own actions, or lack of action? Nope.

So my //opinion// is these guys aren’t of the same caliber as a General Petraeus. Or even some captains cited in that New York Times article.

Who to believe? Petraeus, Batiste, other generals? The President? The voice in Congress?

Having come of age, and serving during the Viet Nam era, my take is this - I have always loved, even adored, the United States. But I have also always had a reasoned and reasonable semi-distrust of BOTH the government and the Pentagon.

Both have demonstrated many reasons for me to do so during my lifetime and like getalife said, “Fool me once…”

It is odd how so many Americans buy into this idea that the government is the absolute worst organization in the country (and god knows, there are numerous examples of bureaucratic bungling and incompetence), yet somehow the Pentagon and the military always get a complete pass in this regard. (As does the sometimes equally screwed up and self-serving private enterprise). For those of you who have never served in the US Armed Forces, trust me, it would be a real eye opener if you did.

Like the late, great Marvin Gaye sang “People say believe half of what you see, son, and none of what you hear.”

What other people think and say, 1:06, is not a problem unless you make it one for yourself!

But your original post got me thinking about a possible answer to some of our problems.

As we all know, the leaders of the Democrats/liberals can be self-obsessed mean little pr!cks. But there is also an abundance of self-effacing and very humorous people in that camp.

The Republicans/neo-cons on the other hand fit that description as well but with a complete dearth of self-effacing humor.

Therefore, the nation will prosper with more Republican humor and GOP comedians who don’t take themselves and their beliefs so damned seriously all of the time!

Oh wait! If Dennis Miller and that inane show on Fox are representative though, this could be a really bad idea.

But hey, lets give it a try anyway!

(((Whether Mexico implements reforms that will begin to reduce the need for massive migrations to the United States depends largely on the will of the Mexican government. However, the current dip in remittances is on the government’s radar and could give Mexican President Felipe Calderon ammunition as he takes his case for further economic reforms to the public. The expected decline in remittances could serve as an impetus to make fundamental changes to Mexico’s economy that might set all parts of the country on an economic trajectory of job growth.)))

If both Tavels are the same vintage, toss a coin. I’ve found them to be generally consistent. However, rose’ is best drunk young, so go for the more recent vintage if that is a choice. Serve chilled, but not as cold as a soft drink. The colder a wine is served, the less you can experience the fruit. Take the time to experience the taste from the front of your palate to the back. Typically the finish will not be very long.

But then just get into it. Chilled rose’ is not a sipping wine ; it is a quaffing wine!!!!

Here ‘ya go, a little something from Stratfor on the China/Russia alliance.

(((China is making a bid for Central Asia’s energy resources — a move that will ultimately expand into a bid for geopolitical control of the entire region. Russia is waking up to the threat and starting to take countermeasures, setting the stage for a broad Sino-Russian conflict in Central Asia.)))

(((So, in the Russian mind, rhetorically China is a Russian ally that is theoretically committed to building a multipolar world to hedge in U.S. power. As Russia is discovering, however, the key words in that sentence are “rhetorically” and “theoretically”; China looks out for China’s interests, and it is in China’s interests to have a strong economic relationship with Washington and ever-closer economic and political ties with Central Asia.)))

(((China will remain at the mercy of U.S. foreign policy for its industrial, energy and trade policy. Since China desperately wants to avoid a confrontation with Washington so it can focus on its internal problems, the only way for China to square the circle is to develop a wholly land-based energy supply system that is out of the reach of U.S. fleets. Simply put, China’s strategic imperatives dictate dealing with Central Asia.)))

(((The bottom line is that the geopolitical imperatives of Russia and China — always uneasily tolerating each other — are now grating against one another in what is truly a zero-sum game. Only one of them can have Central Asian natural gas, and whoever controls that gas ultimately controls the region.)))

Global strategies…

Getalife & Bosch— I’m a leftie, too. My dad spent many a day putting the crayon in my right hand to draw, and as soon as he turned his back, I’d switch over to my left hand. My kindergarten teacher told him to just let me be… he then learned to go with the flow and love me as a leftie!

Touched his whiskers, stroked his back, held onto his flipper while we glided through and under the water.

Sounds like my date with Senator Craig in his favorite toilet in the Macon bus station…

{{A gated community called something like Republican Gardens and all the houses are closets! What do ya’ think?}}

Bosch— I like your toon idea! What if they were “water closets”, or is that too much?

@@,

The fundamental difference between the PRC and the US is that the PRC is content to wait a long time to attain economic and political objectives whereas the US typically requires immediate gratification.

The PRC may be somewhat dependent upon the US for energy, trade, and industrial policies, the fact that the PRC is moving to solidify energy sources throughout the world (i.e. -central Asia and Venezuela) shows that they are unwilling to play second fiddle to the US in that arena.

Industrial and trade issues are closely intertwined and I suspect we have reached a state of mutual dependency. In fact, Germany now exports the manufacturing of high-end forged cutlery to the PRC. The next time you are in a store selling Wustoff or other carving knives, look at the blade for the country of origin and prepare to be surprised.

And let me summarize by the recent veiled threat by the PRC to attack the US dollar by selling off the US debt that they had purchased with excess $$$ reserves.

All I’m trying to say is that perhaps it is too simple to suggest that the PRC is dependent upon the US for much of anything at this point. I know a couple of small manufactureers who tremble at the thought of losing PRC manufacturing facilities. Think of all the unsold airtime when the infommercials had no products to sell!
