Those other two asterisks go on the end of Hillary Clinton’s Iraq war position, hahaha.

{{{{For the first time during 110th Congress, the Blue Dog Coalition — a 47-member grouping of self-described moderate and conservative Democrats — defied House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic leadership on a critical national security issue: Saturday night’s vote on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), where 41 dissident Democrats, nearly all of them Blue Dogs, provided the margin of victory for President Bush on the issue of terrorist surveillance.}}}}

Scumbag liberals:
{{{{IRAQ DEVELOPMENTS- An American raid and airstrike killed 32 ——->people<—— in the Shiite stronghold of Sadr City on Wednesday in what American military officials described as the latest assault on a network linking Iraqi militants with deadly roadside bombs from Iran.}}}}
“People” just like you and me, going about their daily grind of working on bombs that kill innocent civilians.
And the big bad evil American military intruded on their “peaceful” little existence.

From the “Vent:”
{{{{Most of the conservative Vents are merely plagiarized material from conservative talk radio. Original thinking has never been the strong suit of those on the right.}}}} Coming from the same liberals that brought us “political correctness.” At least we don’t have to hold seminars on how to become Christians and other schemes designed to trick our voters. And shouldn’t you at least check and make sure you aren’t doing the exact same thing you’re whining about?:
{{{{First we destabilize the entire Middle East. Then we sell them all cutting-edge weapons. Isn’t that a lot like getting teenagers good and drunk and giving them the car keys?}}}}
Duh.

{{{{If the actual economic data, the views of professional economists and the self-proclaimed personal financial situation of a majority of Americans have improved this much, why are people so worried about the economy? Why do people assume they are the exception rather than the rule? One answer is that people gather knowledge about the rest of the economy, the part they cannot see, from watching news. As a result, it could be that the format behind most business journalism skews perceptions and creates pessimism.}}}}

ML - There has been no proof presented that Bonds knowingly took steroids. What the Balco people and Bonds’ trainer told him was in those injections and salves is only known by them, and they aren’t accusing him. The Balco chemist who created the chemical says that he believes Bonds used his designer steroid, but backs off from first hand knowledge of his statement. Until then, perhaps you should leave the accusations to others.

Nice, original twist on the homerun ball The Juice hits is an actual asterisk.
But nobody talks about the (aster)RISKS of steroid abuse. Is this what kilt the Babe? How long has The Juice been juicing? Even if you juice, does that make you quicker, more alert, and improve your eye-hand coordination to make you a better batter?
If The Juice (Bonds) was betting he’d be a better batter is he bitter that his betters banned his best batch of bombs as a botched bout of bootlegged booty? That’s bogus!

Ooooohhhh Noooooo! Say it ain’t sooooo…
(((“Well, the fact is I don’t take PAC money and I don’t take lobbyists’ money,” Obama said, touting his work on an ethics reform bill that just passed Congress. “That’s the kind of leadership that I’ve shown in the Senate. That’s the kind of leadership that I showed when I was a state legislator. And that’s the kind of leadership that I’ll show as president of the United States.”)))
(((In Obama’s eight years in the Illinois Senate, from 1996 to 2004, almost two-thirds of the money he raised for his campaigns — $296,000 of $461,000 — came from PACs, corporate contributions, or unions, according to Illinois Board of Elections records. He tapped financial services firms, real estate developers, healthcare providers, oil companies, and many other corporate interests, the records show.)))
In addition, Obama’s own federal PAC, Hopefund, took in $115,000 from 56 PACs in the 2005-2006 election cycle out of $4.4 million the PAC raised, according to CQ MoneyLine, which collects Federal Election Commission data. Obama then used those PAC contributions — including thousands from defense contractors, law firms, and the securities and insurance industries — to build support for his presidential run by making donations to Democratic Party organizations and candidates around the country.
(((In the Democrats’ previous debate, on July 23, Obama was unequivocal when challenged by former Alaska senator Mike Gravel about who his donors were.)))
I remember Gravel hurling that accusation at Obama. I found Obama rather indignant. Gravel always has this grin on his face after he delivers. Gravel’s a hoot.

At no time in our country’s history has the abuse of power by the executive branch been more flagrant and more dangerous to democracy. In just the past month, the Bush administration has ordered employees to ignore congressional subpoenas, asserted broad new parameters for executive privilege and issued an executive order that could permit seizing assets of Americans deemed at its discretion to be hurting the war effort in Iraq. Meanwhile, the administration continues to spy on its own citizens, including widespread data mining of telephone records and emails. Since taking office, Bush has pushed his authority past the bounds of the Constitution, and now a new group is ready to push back.

I love baseball and watching the Braves is a treat. But Bonds has introduced an element that is like throwing a stink bomb into the party. He says he didn’t do it but the ugly aroma keeps rising.
It was fun to watch Henry Aaron achieve his goal by super athletics and drive. Besides that, he is a man of character and a good example for generations of young athletes.
I wish to hear no more about Bonds. Let him glory in his own achievements by any means. That is not the stuff of heroes.

Dusty, I heard a story about Hank Aaron’s run for the record on NPR the other day. It was really a great story, I posted something about it the other day. I never realized he had a lot of death threats, and he even told his friends on the Braves not to sit near him in the dug out because he was afraid they might get shot. That’s so sad, but I’m with you. I’m tired about hearing about Barry Bonds. What you said about Hank Aaron is absolutely true.
People like Barry Bonds and Mark McGuire are the reason I stopped watching baseball years ago.

How predictably great is the news from Iraq? Fabulous as expected. Just as Bushie and his fellow gutsy intellectuals always knew it would be. And the new “surge” is spectacular. An entire country of multi-millions which has always been eager to embrace our definition of so-called “democracy.” Eager to throw out its thousands of years of culture and experiences and thoughts and habits and beliefs and religions. Forever obsessed w being “Americanized.” And now their dream is finally coming true. All it took was a tiny handful of heroes with guns and bombs and planes to intermingle with the average Iraqi citizen who rejoiced at their arrival. Now Iraqis can finally have that relaxed, quiet, comforting peace of mind they’ve always desired, even as their country grows into the modern, highly developed land that is the envy of the civilized world. They have forever been just like good, decent, God-fearing Americans. They are every bit as are we. Now they can emerge from their closets, act like us, be like us, and spread their new-found paradizical lives throughout the entire Middle East. We already see it busily working its magic into nearby states. Never has America stood taller. Never have we had more reason to fill our hearts with pride. I wish to thank our Savior for the wisdom He has thrust upon our great President Bush and all those who have had the intelligence, insight, patriotism, guts, raw knowledge, courage, and good, decent personal and family values needed to support that extraordinary human being. He and they are what America is all about. These are people deeply steeped in everything that is good and honest and righteous within the world. God bless America!

My question is: how many of the pitchers whose balls Barry drowned in McCovey were juiced as well? I have a hard time believing that in the one position where power is measured directly — miles per hour — everyone was clean, while the hitters around them lined up with their bottoms facing the needle.

Funny since each city he played, the police knew it as well as the baseball commissioner and the rest of baseball management at that time. Please continue to hate on Barry. Buy Danish says: “Or are Americans the only ones who are expected to give up their culture (which is grounded in Western Civilization)”
Of course we have to discard the shackles of Western Civilization that brought us egalitarianism, seperation of powers, habaes corpus, seperation of Church and State and the notion that we are endowed by our Creator with the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. All of these values are pre-9/11 ideas. To try to suggest that they are relevant in a times such as these is to forget the lessons of 9/11.
Western Civilization led us to a place where we were free, largely wealthy and also in many cases immoral, materialistic and shallow. Sometimes even homosexual. As conservative writer D’Souza and conservatives like Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell pointed out it was these by products of freedom that either invited or caused the attacks.
So what we have to do is to go with an Eastern philosophy that promotes theocracy and totalitarianism. Once we have joined religion with Government so that acting immoral can be punished with death we will be free from the terrorists and the liberals alike.

Duh says: “Yeah, tell that to the million and a half babies that you liberals drilled holes in their heads.”
That is exactly my point. We have to restrict, or get rid of, individual freedom because we can’t trust what people will do with it. Many times people will act immorally when they are free. Much of the immoral conduct can’t even be punished in a free society like strip joints, porn and adultery. Essentially so called victim less crimes against God but between consenting adults are off limits from State interfernce. That is crazy and its what led to 9/11.
In addition, a lot of times people use their freedom to say things that embolden the enemy. Is that really a freedom that we can live with? I don’t think so and glad that you agree with me.
Back to the original point, we must get away from the Western Civilization values that put the individual above God’s laws. You see the Constitution was written with the concept that God gave us natural rights that protected the People from the Government. That is what leads to 9/11.
What we must revert to is a situation where the Government is synonomous with God and we are subservient to it so that the masses can be protected from individuals. We have to turn Western Civilization inside out. In short, we must have a Government like Iran, but only with Christians.

{{{We are for a Bible-based totalitarian state that does not allow room for immorality or dissent.}}}
Nut Job,
Speak for yourself, you ridiculous clown.
{{{Accept it or go be a damn liberal who values individual freedom over the health, safety and welfare of the State.}}}
You must be confusing the word “licentiousness” with “Freedom” and concepts of “liberty”.
“Licentiousness: Acting without regard to law, ethics, or the rights of others.”
AND
“Excessive freedom; lack of restraint: dissoluteness, dissolution, libertinism, license, profligacy. See restraint/unrestraint.”
Last I heard we can’t even choose to do things like eat Trans Fats, allow conservatives to speak at Universities without being shouted down or physically assaulted, voice scientific disagreement over “global warming” without risking your job, or use words like “HO” without risking arrest for “hate crimes” anymore, so your claim that Liberals believe in individual freedom over the welfare of the State is nothing short of farcical.

“Last I heard we can’t even choose to do things like eat PEYOTE, allow LIBERALS to TEACH at Universities without being shouted down or physically assaulted, voice scientific disagreement over “CREATION” without risking your job, or use words like “Bush should be Impeached” without risking arrest for “Disturbing the Peace” anymore, so your claim that Conservatives believe in individual freedom over the welfare of the State is nothing short of farcical.”
It is every bit the same. However, I would agree that there are certain aspects of the left that would be very comfortable with our eventual destruction of individual liberty. There are people on both sides who want things their way and no other. Of course, the guys on the left are smoking weed and eating Cheetos while our guys are running everything so I would say that we have a better chance at actually being successful in stripping individual liberties than the damn hippies. They can hold up a sign or rush a stage but can they ignore a federal law like FISA, which is a felony, without any repercussions? Hell no. These people couldn’t get out of a speeding ticket.

Moreover, the idea that Liberals have been constrained from speaking or teaching at our universities is just one more farcical statement by a clown.
Here’s some news for you all:
Murder charges against a US Marine accused of killing three Iraqi civilians during an alleged massacre in Haditha two years ago have been dropped, the military said on Thursday. /A statement released by the Marines at their Camp Pendleton base in southern California revealed that three charges of unpremeditated murder against Lance Corporal Justin Sharratt had been withdrawn. …Sharratt was accused of shooting three Iraqi men execution-style in what prosecutors alleged was part of a rampage that left 24 civilians dead following the death of a Marine in a roadside bomb in November 2005.
How many of you Moonbats gave this Marine the benefit of the doubt, as N-GA asks that we give Barry Bonds?
As I recall there was quite the rush to judgment from the “We support the troops but noy the war” crowd.

Buy Danish,
Didn’t the Univ. of Colorado just fire Ward Churchill? Of course, he should have been shot, but the point remains.
At what point exactly does “Freedom” become “Licentiousness”?
Is it at “I’m not sure the war was such a good idea.” Or “The war was a really bad idea”? How do you draw the distinction? Or is any comment that is not Pro-war “Licentiousness”?
Should strip bars be made illegal?
Should people be thrown in jail for adultery?
Should porn be criminalized?
How do you decide that weed is bad but porn, cigs and booze are good? Or is it really not the job of Government to make those distinctions?
I think what I am trying to say is that once you decide that Government has any busines in controlling the behavior of adults that isn’t actually harming anyone but themselves aren’t you saying that the rules can expand and retract as the circumstances change?
In a post-9/11 world I would argue that they should be contracted completely so that the rules are clear: be supportive of Bush or die. That way we really don’t have to draw fuzzy lines around what is “Licentiousness” and what is “freedom.” In the final analysis if you want freedom you are going to have a lot of “Licentiousness.” And my question is can we risk that when the stakes are so high?
I think the gut instinct of most of my friends on the right is that the risk is too high and the value of the freedom to low.

With respect to the Haditha Marines and anyone else over there serving. I can tell you this as a person who opposes the war:
There should never ever be any crimes charged against anyone who is over there, period. For anything. The guys signed up to protect America and they got dragged into Bush’s theoretical fantasy. Are some of these guys gonna lose it and do something they shouldn’t? Sure. Are we gonna have a bunch of troops who have lost their soul over there coming back killing people or themselves when they’re done with this crap? Absolutely. Comes with the territory. I had an uncle who laid on the RR tracks after he came back from WWII. War screws people up and that’s one of the many reasons it should not be undertaken as lightly as it was in this case.
But when I see our kids being sent to prison or facing the death penalty just so that we can impress Maliki it makes me sick. The liberals aren’t having these guys arrested the C&C is. I say give ‘em all a medal, bring them home and put Bush and Cheney on trial.

There are many resons why John Kerry’s picture is in a Viet Nam Anti-War Protestors Museum.
He served four months in the war, later becoming a vocal critic of the Viet Nam War.
His 1971 book “The New Soldier” was a collection of anti-war statements by veterans. But the cover was the most objectionable. The cover pictured anti-war protestors with an American flag flying upside down. Many thought it was a “put down” of the famous Iwo Jima flag picture.
In 1971 he joined a group of war protestors and threw the medals he had received in Viet Nam over a protective fence at the US Capitol. Later he confessed that he only threw “copies” of his medals.
Communist Viet Nam appreciated his help for their side and put his picture in their museum as American Anti-War Protestor. The picture is one of Kerry being greeted by the General Secretary of the Communist Party.
If you would like more information, go to Google and call up ‘John Kerry Anti-war Protests Viet Nam.’

Any opinions on any of this? For example, do you support taxpayers paying all college costs (room, board, tuition, fees) for all veterans? Doing away with the current system, where military contribute towards it? For all veterans, even those who served a 4-year hitch spent entirely, say, working in public affairs at Robins AFB in Georgia? For any college they can get into, from the local community college to Columbia (over $50,000 a year?). As far as the quote from the vet’s lobbyist, do we really want to encourage vets to leave after one or two enlistments, rather that going for a career?

It was apparently taken as Kerry took part in a delegation President Clinton sent to Hanoi in 1993. Dusty, In the News,
If I may interject, from the History News Network a couple of years ago, full article at the link (oh, and it’s called “psychological torture” - you know, the torture so many accuse the US of doing to those poor jihadists) -
“many American veterans and their families deem Kerry’s past public excoriation of U.S. troops as unforgivable acts bordering on treason. As a result, veterans have formed several groups opposing Kerry’s presidential ambitions. The root cause of their anti-Kerry sentiment is summarized by the publication U.S. Veteran Dispatch , which notes that Kerry’s aforementioned testimony “occurred while some of his fellow Vietnam veterans were known by the world to be enduring terrible suffering as prisoners of war in North Vietnamese prisons.” Indeed, Senator John McCain has stated that his North Vietnamese captors had used reports of Kerry-led protests to taunt him and his fellow prisoners.”

You are welcome, Dusty. They are intertwined - political protest, enemy propaganda efforts, acting upon conscience (or hatred). Just as those who have heartfelt opposition to a military action have a right (or duty) to oppose the action, it is also their responsibility to consider how their words or actions may be used against the military forces in whose name they profess to protest. Likewise, those who support a military action should consider how not offering critiques, suggestions or criticisms may delay the outcome or lead to a less than optimum conclusion.

Q: (((Can anyone please tell me how voicing a dissenting opinion on the war can undermine our troops in any way?! Please!)))
A: (((It’s not what you do or say, it’s how others use it.)))
Al Zawahiri has been mentioning the U.S. and its’ dissenting voices in his videos. I’m guessing it serves as a motivational tool for the jihadists.
Didn’t some psychiatrist at Harvard recently do a study that found 1 in 5 VietNam vets initially suffered PTSS, and in later years it was reduced to 1 in 10.
PTSS isn’t exclusive to veterans of wars. PTSS can occur after auto accidents, sexual assault, near-death experiences, emotional or physical abuse in a child or adult. It’s an equal opportunity disorder.

Or is bonnie just ranting, an ala finchie psychotic rant?
Can anyone tell?
I’m going out on a limb here and saying that my facts were challenged, we will proceed from there:
Bonnie was right! I was wrong:
{{{{NY TIMES ARTICLE – SEPTEMBER 18, 2005 ON ABORTION More than one in five pregnancies end in abortion. More than 25 million Americans have had abortions since Roe v. Wade in 1973.}}}}
It’s 25 million, not a million and a half.
I was thinking per year, not total.
Thanks for straightening me out bonnie.

Getalife,
AHA! You caught me in a typo and “not” became “noy”. That is not at all the same thing as the serial misspelling of “separation” as “seperation”, particularly from someone who is obsessed with the “Separation of Powers”.
NUT JOB,
Ward Churchill was fired for plagiarism, fabricating research, and sub-par scholarship.
I don’t doubt that you think that is an infringement of his “free speech rights” and that the things he was fired for are perfectly acceptable for college professors…and ML’s Moonbat bloggers.

{{{{By Concerned Citizen August 9, 2007 6:41 PM Don’t you ever suggest that our military could ‘lose’ in Iraq again. They won.}}}}
You know I didn’t have a post in between these two of yours, which one am I supposed to respond to?
I guess you’re still babbling about 3:08, that was pretty good, wasn’t it?
Anyway, this may come as a surprise but Bush is Commander In Chief of the armed forces. If he won, they won and vice versa.
And I agree with you, they have won the war in Iraq.

BonScott should have read RW’s link on Barry’s arm brace.

Duh, There you go again kissing Bush’s butt again. That’s all you really care about anyway.
Our military has never and will never lose a war. Politicians have lost 2 because they put us in position of fighting for something that the people weren’t willing to do for themselves.
Vietnam was winnable if the South Vietnamese had wanted to win. Iraq is winnable if the Iraqis want it. The problem is that they didn’t and don’t. We should never put our soldier’s destinies into the hands of others. Never.

NUT JOB,
Since I AM interested in scholarship, here are some specifics as to why Ward Churchill was fired:
…The allegations included misrepresenting the effects of federal laws on American Indians, fabricating evidence that the Army deliberately spread smallpox to Mandan Indians in 1837, and claiming the work of a Canadian environmental group as his own.
That smallpox thing is very popular with the Left since they love to portray Americans as deliberate, genocidal killers. Indeed, I’ve heard it repeated right here at MLs by people like DebbieDoRight.
Not to worry though - Ward Churchill isn’t the only proFessor spreading these falsehoods, so you Leftists still have your Academic Army out there doing yeoman’s work for you.
