There may be an upside to not impeaching these bastards right now. Just a little while longer and their approval ratings will be in the teens (or lower). Hopefully that will dash any hopes of ever naming airports, etc. after these menaces to our country.

Tony Snow is saying that we’re really just at the “starting line” for the surge in Iraq. Just another “starting line” in a war that’s been going on for over four years — with no plan to end it coming from Bush.
Sorry Chimpy - it started illegally 4 years ago and needs to end NOW!

Question for Mike Luckovich and the Left, (who are very funny with the cartoons and puns): Describe a scenario under which we can leave Iraq, that is, describe the conditions the day we leave, six months later, and then two years later.
Why cant even one of you left-handed, left-brained, left-leaning, left-out-when-god-was-handing-out-brains liberals think this damn surrender-monkey, fund-cutting withdrawal-timeline through just one time for God’s sakes? What are you people? Tin Bloggers? Someone has to DO something. Why wont someone DO something? We’re all doomed. Dont you see? We’re all going to DIE!!!!
(the ajc has injected a cyber-sedative into this beserko-blogger, and his stutter-double is now blogging in his place, thank you)
PS. Did Mike Luckovich miss a “Young Frankenstein” reference in the cartoon? The movie’s filled with classic moments, certainly one would have worked. (maybe one of the middle american couple holding a violin, about to play, with a desperate look on the face).

Pull out the US troops, NOW! In 6 months Iraq is still chaotic, but its middle eastern neighbors have to step in. Iraqis become more united because there is no longer an occupier; they won’t stand for Al-Qaida. Iran and Saudi tussle for control, who knows what will happen then, it is up to the Iraqis; it is their country.
Leave troops. Troops continue to get slaughtered. Iraqi citizens continue to get slaughtered. This continues for years until the US thinks Iraq is stable and begins a pull out. Within 2 years after the withdrawal Iran controls Iraq.

Senator Clutnrun, wannabe president:
{{{{{{{That is why we propose to end the authorization for the war in Iraq. The civil war we have on our hands in Iraq is not our fight and it is not the fight Congress authorized. Iraq is at war with itself and American troops are caught in the middle.}}}}}}}
How would she know what war she voted for?
{{{{{{{Records: Senators who OK’d war didn’t read key report- WASHINGTON (CNN) — A new biography of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton has once again raised the issue of whether members of Congress read a key intelligence report before the 2002 vote to authorize war in Iraq.}}}}}}}
How naïve can one be to not know that we are fighting Iran, Syria and every foreign fighter that Al Qaida can send to Iraq and that the only “civil war” is the one raging between the Sunnis that are terrorists and the Sunnis that aren’t terrorists?
Which is exactly what America wants, Iraqis turning against the terrorists.
So as soon as the surge strategy starts to work, why are Democrats so desperate to stop the progress, even knowing what the results will be?
{{{{{{{{New York Times: Americans must be clear that Iraq, and the region around it, could be even bloodier and more chaotic after Americans leave. There could be reprisals against those who worked with American forces, further ethnic cleansing, even genocide. Potentially destabilizing refugee flows could hit Jordan and Syria. Iran and Turkey could be tempted to make power grabs. Perhaps most important, the invasion has created a new stronghold from which terrorist activity could proliferate.}}}}}}}}}}
Democrats have lost their minds, no doubt about that and are providing aid to our enemies:
{{{{{{{The bad guys are well aware that every savage market blast, every blownup G.I. patrol gnaws away at America’s national resolve that much more. That’s their plan. It works.}}}}}}}}

Drive-by Media - Nobody can predict exactly what will happen when we leave Iraq. One thing is certain. And it’s THE most important thing. Our troops will no longer die for a sham that was thrust upon us by a gang of lying bastards. More of our troops will live to see their children grow up. We still stop wasting money on a mission without end. We will never be able to settle the differences between the Shia and the Sunni. That is who we are fighting.

So Cindy is suggesting that Iraq’s neighbors have to step in? Cindy, THAT is exactly what we have to prevent. In other words, you havent’ thought this through. Dont be ashamed. Most of our congress haven’t either.
Here’s how to deduce Iraq without US troops: Google the Kurds and read for two minutes. You’ll know what why how when and where.
Then google “the shia superstate”. This is a term that I coined years ago when I reasoned that the Persians are all Shia, and they may join in with their 10K year old rivals, the Iraqi Shia, (theirs is a ethnic rivalry, not a sectarian one).
The first thing liberals must do is to understand the difference between sectarian and ethnic rivalries in the middle east. One is 14 hundred years old, one is 14 thousand years old.
We know little of either because we are know-it-alls. We cant be bothered with reality-on-the-ground geo-political history.
We are stupid ugly jokes of americans, and the world stopped laughing decades ago. Trust me on that one.

Funny, the casualties of war are not on the option table of future destiny in Iraq if we leave. If we leave, there are no US troop casualties.
I’m asking you, sir, describe Iraq the day we leave, six months later, and then two years later.
If you can do this accurately, then you will know why we are stuck there forever. (at least six generations).
Hint: We will be forced to fight our way back in if we leave. We are stuck. Accept it. But learn why. Once Americans understand exactly how badly Bush blundered when he overthrew Saddam’s regime of order, Bush/Cheney will have to flee.
But let them go, my fellow americans, we have our a country to save, and a world to convince.

So let’s try to summarize this Iraq thing:
The USA preemptively attacks Iraq because Iraq has WMD’s.
The authorization is based upon a United Nations resolution, even though this administration discounts the UN.
No WMD’s are found, but thousands of coalition troops die while hundreds of thousands of Iraqis die.
The administration now explains that the invasion was justified because we are bringing democracy to the Middle East, conveniently forgetting the fact that our Middle East allies (Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, the UAE and Saudi Arabia are not democratic nations.
Then the administration explains that we needed to get rid of Saddam Hussein, a despotic dictator. No matter that there are numerous despotic dictators that rule over countries that have no oil.
Now the administration insists that the USA must stay in Iraq because if we leave, the Middle East will collapse into wholesale slaughter and anarchy.
If it wasn’t so pathetic, I’d LMFAO.

It would be nicer if americans would learn by themselves about persian history. America should know about how similar the Kurd’s history is to the Jew’s history and how they were mistreated by the same damn arabs that mistreated the jews. (Jews and Kurds and Persians are not Arab)
They have 10K year old outhouses in Iraq. Do you really think we’ll ever understand all the intersecting subsets of alliances and rivalries that extend all the way back to adam in time, and all the way to china in tribal links? (this was before charmins invented the triple roll)
When Iraq was drawn on a map after WW1, the tribes were split arbitrarily, so that they suddenly became Syrians, Turks, Iraqis, or whatever the map called them. Thus, any reunion of any tribe would become a defacto invasion of one country into another, thus assuring perpetual war for eons and eons. Churchill was much worse for the middle east than Saddam ever was. Churchill wanted Iraq for the oil because his navy was switching from coal to oil. That’s why he chose iraq. Check out that story before you try to understand why we are stuck in iraq forever. and ever.
Iraq is our 51st state, New Alabama. It’s a red state with a green zone. I nominate Martha Stewart to sew the flag.

Drive By - IMHO,Yes, when we leave, the whole country will explode in a bloodbath the likes we have not seen since WWII. Also, IMHO, thousands of innocent men, women, and children will be slaughtered.
Two years from then, the people will either view al-Qaeda (and the likes) as a group that can save them, and we will be right back where we started, or they will grow weary of their terroristic ways and force them out themselves.
Is that unfortunate? Yes. And as you said earlier, the Bush/Cheney machine has blundered this operation into epic proportions, and I think the American people do know that. That is why they are horribly dissatisfied and want our troops home.
About two years ago, I thought well, we are there, we started this mess, we can’t leave these civilians to slaughter, so we must finish what we started. Unfortunately, there is no finish to the start. Despite the warnings from many experts, the Bush/Cheney machine marched on through, and every dire prediction critics of the war made have come to be - the blood of these people will forever be on their hands.
There is no finish to this mess, and Bush will have to face himself in the mirror for the rest of his life knowing what he caused.
We need to bring our troops home and hunker down for the worse.

The terrorists are already here. IMHO, it’s just a matter of time before we have another 9/11. I think something will happen right after the ‘08 elections which is another reason I want our troops home NOW to hopefully prevent something like what happened in Madrid, London, and Glasgow - and to add more security to our borders.

Or, I think that there will be some kind of terror plot carried out (hopefully unsuccessfully) right BEFORE the elections so that people will panic and keep the neo-cons in power.
Terrorists need panic, they need terror and fear — hence, their name, and they need people in power, who will perpetuate that fear to the people.
Personally, I equate insurance companies with terrorist. They perpetuate the same fear, that the absolute worst thing in the world WILL eventually happen to you, and you must pay us to help ease that fear - and heaven forbid if it does happen - how many of you have had to battle with an insurance company? Hands everyone? Get my point?

liberals are so full of “duhs” this morning I believe some of them have a speech impediment. I won’t mention the brain part.
Or maybe they need a vacation like many conservatives are enjoying. And let me say that I am so sorry that you liberals cannot afford to take a vacation. But, if you live near Atlanta, there are lots of nice parks that are FREE. The government takes care of them and you know how liberals like that. There’s also the Silver Comet Trail where harold hangs out. That’s FREE also.
And the CARTOON?? At first glance, I thought it was little Mikey Luckovich doing the hokey-pokey with Mrs. Godzilla. But, of course not. It is a bad drawing of the President. Ho hum. So what’s new? Nothing from Luckovich. Same ol’ same ol’.
And the great awakening!!! Democrats did not read CIA reports. Democrats did not REALLY approve the war in Congress. American troops should be sent home NOW. There’s not ONE terrorist in Iraq!! Saddam was no more evil than Katie Couric. Of course, this can be boiled down to Democratic SURRENDER, CUT AND RUN, not to mention scaredy-cat!!!
Of course, Democrats ALL support the troops. They make the troops feel like dirt and try to paint a yellow stripe down their backs, but Democrats SUPPORT THE TROOPS. Halleluia and pass the ammunition!!

Bosch, the least of the global consequences that would occur if we ever leave Iraq is Iraqi bloodshed. The consequences of US ever leaving are complex and multiple and far reaching.
You have to understand the geo-political history of every border state, and the present theo-political stability of each border state.
Socio-theology is different in the middle east. The “Theo” got mixed up with the “Socio” long ago and now it guides the “Politico” which directs the “Milito Roboto domo arrigato” etc.
Just know we cant ever leave now. The world is truly at stake in little old Iraq. Al Queda is a factor, but only one factor in many factors which explain why we cant ever leave.
The greatest moment this country will ever have is about to occur. Bush is about to spill. He’s going to level. He didn’t know that he was condemning our army to a perpetual occupation. We’ve got to believe that, he’ll plead. But the fact is, he’ll explain, we dont dare leave. In fact, we need more troops. We may require a draft, he’ll say, with a mighty pause.
When Bush levels with America, we’ll see the man he is. Hillary will get elected because Americans will finally grasp that it’s OUR country and we need to save it. Healthcare is straight ahead. There’s going to be a socio-cultural revolution in this country.
How can we afford Iraq and Healthcare? by stopping pork fraud perpetuated by cronyism, and regulating how many layers of subcontractors for a single appropriation can be financed with tax money.
THE PROBLEM: I get money for a federal contract. I keep some money but subcontract the rest to my brother, who keeps some and subcontracts to his friend, who keeps some money and subcontracts to his friend etc etc. That’s where 99% of the waste of our taxes go.

DriveBy - You are exactly right - Iraq is now just a fraction of the chaos in the geo-political chaotic mess we call the Middle East.
But I disagree that we cannot leave, in fact, I think we need to get the hell out of there right now - WE ARE the BIGGEST problem in the Middle East. No one wants us there. Yes, they want our weapons, but they don’t want us physically there - we are infidels. We need to leave and when they beg us for weapons - tough s**!
All regions in the Middle East need to work out their own problems. They have milked our resources for so long, they don’t know how to deal with it, and of course, there is the Israel factor, which I say, hell, they are part of the Middle East, let them work out their own problems with the rest.
And, there is also the matter of oil. Yes, the oil. Well, we need to get off the Middle East oil t** - the time has come, and I think most Americans realize it, and are slowly but surely doing something about it.
Ironically, I think that this whole mess will eventually make us come up with alternative fuels, which will cut into oil profits here (like the Bush family) and they will loose money. I feel one major factor in this war was for oil control and it has backfired — yes, sweet irony.
Watcher, Yes, fear is a vital component in neo-cons blood, it’s like plasma, they can’t function without it.

Funny morons, Good point. Yes, how will it be any different if/when we leave? And the violence is spilling over into other places like Gaza, West Bank, as always Israel, Pakistan. Like Drive By mentioned these places have been fighting for eons, and sadly enough it’s over religious beliefs. It’s like Bush has taken a stick and stuck it in a honey bee nest - we need to take the stick out and let the bees settle back down before they all sting each other into extinction. And personally, I don’t want any more of our troops “stung” in the process.

Bush did it for OIL, my friends. Yes sir, I am “poor” so anybody rich is EVIL. So goes poor lib losers without any evidence whatsoever.(Bush did it.)
Every MidEast conflict such as Palestine, Gaza strip and Lebanon is caused by evil Americans fighting in Iraq. We know it was not Hamas, Hezbollah, alQueda or any other terrorist group ‘cause Democrats said so.(Bush did it.)
Then, almost new,…we want our troops home so we can have better healthcare. Whoopee! It will be FREE!! We can have better healthcare just like Cuba. And we would raise taxes on wealthy Michael Moore and do it BUT…..(Bush did it.)
Well, I would stick around for more junk in the blog yard sale but I must leave.

Drive-by— you should be Mike’s edtitor for a day! Your idea of adding a violin-playing dog to today’s ‘toon is brilliant.
I see Andy’s back. There’s a plus to that. He makes Dusty sound positively rational. In fact, both she and @@ almost sound rational sometimes. Almost. I’m reluctant to personally critize either of them. They’re not dumb. No way. And I don’t question their patriotism, which in my dictionary, is a badge of honor, not a dirty word. But when it comes to BushCheney & Co. and Iraq, they can’t see the forest for the trees.
Blame Churchill? Well, the apocryphal story goes that Winston and his cronies were drunk as skunks when they carved up the Middle East post WWI, dividing tribes with arbitrary lines with no thoughts about conflicts and alliances predating Christ. Alcohol supposedly accounts for those jiggles in the otherwise straight as an arrow borders defining Iraq, Syria, Saudia Arabia, etc. How tragically funny is that?
And as for the “we must fight them there or we’ll be fighting them here” argument? Horsefeathers. They’re already here. It’s a matter of when, not if. Look at London and Glasgow. They’re recruiting doctors and aeronautical engineers, for G-d’s sake! Time to bring the troops home and prepare for the inevitable.

The more informal word for goodbye is “Tschüß.” I see people embarrass themselves all the time saying “aufwiedersehen” thinking they’re being so cool, but on the inside, the German is really thinking, “idiot” and I wouldn’t want you to embarrass yourself when you say good bye to a German speaking person.

Yes, there will surely be more bloodshed when/if we leave…but why should we help them kill each other? With this US occupation they’re just killing each other with more sophisticated weapons…so we don’t give them weapons…they may be reduced to killing each other in the streets hand-to-hand…yes, it will be horrific…it is horrific that we (the greatest nation on earth)have instigated this new wave of violence in the ME. If George Bush and Dick Cheney are not impeached for these crimes against humanity…our nation has lost all moral compass and perhaps we need to have our a$$’s kicked and level the country and start all over again…I’m sorry, that is how I feel. We have a responsibility as human beings to right this wrong to the best of our ability…unfortunately, I don’t think its within our capabilities to indefinately occupy this nation, even though it is our mess to clean up. If we don’t pull our troops home and turn our attentions to our failing government the world will continue to see us as a Goliath that needs a David…and we just might get one. The best way we can help the ME right now is to give our nation a great big attitude adjustment…much like the one Andy and Dust ball needs.

The Webb Troop Readiness Amendment, although emotionally driven, would appear to leave our troops in Iraq undermanned and more vulnerable.
While Webb’s amendment isn’t targeted at Senate Republicans or Bush, it is targeted at Bob Gates, Rumsfeld’s successor. Kinda leaves you with the impression that nothing Bush does (replacing Rumsfeld) will appease the Democrats.
It’s very similar to Murtha’s previous proposal, just a sneakier approach.
The Levin-Reed Timeline amendment?
Well, it IS the one supported by the rabid leftists.
It’s political purpose?
Straight from the link:
(((Political Purpose: The big enchilada: getting out of Iraq by a date certain. Many Senate Dems clearly think that the public has coalesced around withdrawal, and even in defeat, they’ll get the opportunity to distinguish themselves from Bush and the GOP going into 2008 while hanging the war around their opponent’s necks as an albatross.)))
Those ^^^ are two misguided individuals if they think the American people will “embrace” being defeated by a bunch of radical, extremist headcases who, for the most part, have been ostracized by the Iraqi people.
If the left wants to contract “bird-flu” this one will do the trick. The problem being, the winners in America won’t want to hang out with the defeated Democrats of the Vietnam era.
The Feingold Funding Cutoff?
Again, it leaves our troops vulnerable, something that the American people have already rejected.
The Clinton Deauthorization?
Political cover from a presidential candidate who voted FOR the war. Are the American people going to buy that crap, and are they going to want a CIC who rides this country’s bicycle backwards for a purely political advantage?
Return to the Iraq Study Group?
Absent the established pull-out date (a clear message) to the enemy, this plan already seems to be in play.
Bush has put forth a reasonable request; wait until September for the report from our Military leaders. Let our military fight this war. Hell, the Democrats/politicians can’t even do that.
Political one-upmanship, that’s the objective of the Democrat’s/politician’s war games.
Done for the day guys, or maybe not. (I like the way Dusty does that.)

I agree with @@ that all the Democratic ideas are terrible. Let’s trust Bush to make the decisions. He’s done a great job so far! The Iraqis will step up soon enough if for no other reason that I think they feel bad about taking all the free security. I think they’d rather do it themselves. Wouldn’t you rather have your own family members risk their lives providing security than letting someone else do it for you for free? I see this as something similar to let’s say Houston sending its entire Police and Fire Dept to New Orleans after the hurricane and not charge the City of New Orleans for the service. Just because Houston’s departments are better trained, better equipped and free doesn’t mean that New Orleans would dawdle about getting things straightened out so that they could pay for it themselves. I mean its basic human instinct to not accept free stuff when you can do it for yourself. This is why us Republicans were never against welfare. We knew that the recipients would get off as soon as they could. The Iraqi government will soon grow tired of our free security that keeps the government in power and all the money we are throwing around for infrastructure. I can see them clamoring soon, “please, please no more money! No more free stuff!”

Saddam had a link to Al-queda (we havent found any link)
Iraq has weapons of mass destruction (never found those)
To remove Sadaam Hussein (We did that)
So since we have reached all these goals so to speak, we should leave Iraq now. But i take from your question that you live in the neo-con pipe dream about building a democracy. Glad you admit you belong to the party of hypocricy. Glad you supported Clinton at the time but your facts are way wrong on who cut and ran in Somalia. Just to refresh your memory here are the great members of your party who cut and ran from Somalia:

Lies,
Maybe this will refresh your memory:
House Republican Leader John Boehner of Ohio portrays himself and his colleagues as brave patriots who would never accept anything less than victory in war. But in 1993, when things got tough in Somalia, he voted for withdrawal. John McCain likewise favored “defeat” in that conflict. He opposed a timetable for withdrawal not because he wanted U.S. forces to stay but because it would take too long. Our soldiers, he insisted, should leave “as rapidly and safely as possible.” Or, you could say, cut and run.
They also favored an outcome short of victory in the Kosovo war of 1999, when the GOP-controlled House voted down a resolution supporting the president’s air campaign. Most House Republicans also supported a measure calling for the withdrawal of American troops from the Balkans.
Back then, House Republican Leader Tom DeLay said, “The bombing was a mistake,” and urged Clinton to “admit it, and come to some sort of negotiated end.” Can you guess the title of DeLay’s new book? No Retreat, No Surrender.

Washington, DC (AP) — Congress today announced that the office of
President of the United States of America will be outsourced to India as of July 1, 2007. The move is being made in order to save the President’s $500,000 yearly salary, and also a record $521 Billion in deficit expenditures and related overhead the office has incurred during the last 5 years. “We believe this is a wise financial move. The cost savings are huge,” stated Congressman Thomas Reynolds (R-WA). “We cannot remain competitive on the world stage with the current level of cash outlay.” Reynolds noted.
Mr. Bush was informed by e-mail this morning of his termination. Preparations for the job move have been underway for some time.
Gurvinder Singh of Indus Teleservices, Mumbai, India will assume the office of President as of July 1, 2007. Mr. Singh was born in the United States while his Indian parents were vacationing at Niagara Falls, NY, thus making him eligible for the position. He will receive a salary of $320 (USD) a month but no health coverage or other benefits.
It is believed that Mr. Singh will be able to handle his job responsibilities without a support staff. Due to the time difference between the US and India, he will be working primarily at night, when few offices of the US Government will be open. “Working nights will allow me to keep my day job at the Dell Computer call center,” stated Mr. Singh in an exclusive interview. “I am excited about this position. I always hoped I would be President.” A Congressional spokesperson noted that while Mr. Singh may not be fully aware of all the issues involved in the office of President. This should not be a problem as President Bush had never been familiar with the issues either.
Mr. Singh will rely upon a script tree that will enable him to respond effectively to most topics of concern. Using these canned responses, he can address common concerns without having to understand the underlying issue at all. “We know these scripting tools work,” stated the spokesperson. “President Bush has used them successfully for years, with the result that some people actually thought he knew what he was talking about.”
Bush will receive health coverage, expenses, and salary until his final day of employment. Following a two week waiting period, he will be eligible for $140 a week

Following a two week waiting period, he will be eligible for $140 a week unemployment for 13 weeks.
Unfortunately he will not be eligible for Medicaid, as his unemployment benefits will exceed the allowed limit.
Mr. Bush has been provided the outplacement services of Manpower, Inc. to help him write a resume and prepare for his upcoming job transition. According to Manpower, Mr. Bush may have difficulties in securing a new position due to a lack of any successful work experience during his lifetime. A Greeter position at Wal-Mart was suggested due to Bush’s extensive experience at shaking hands, as well as his special smile.

Why? Cause Bush didn’t know what he was doing, he truly didn’t understand that our army would get stuck forever in Iraq.

I mean…he was right, and…possibly, if the Bush Administration hadn’t blown him off (or the daily briefing warning of Bin Laden’s plans to attack the US) maybe, just maybe…9/11 could have been thwarted.
Then Bush would not have had the political capital to invade Iraq, 3600 soldiers would still be alive, the Republicans would not have been thrown out of Congress, Bush would not be mired at a Nixonian 29% job approval, and maybe, perhaps, the Republicans would have a chance in 2008.
But, alas, no…the Bush Administrations’ incompetence and lack of morals has resulted in a sad chapter for this country (and an even sadder chapter for Republicans).

The Battle of Mogadishu aka Black Hawk Down was fought on 3 and 4 October 1993. On 6 October 1993 President Clinton announced the American surrender and made the commitment that all troops would be extracted by 31 March 1994.
Now if this slobbering goonie would have told you that a few Americans remained almost a year longer than the 31 March date he wouldn’t have been lying to you, but to try to pretend that President Clinton only announced a pullout a year after Black Hawk Down, presumably after all sorts of pressure from evil Republicans, is a bald faced liberal LIE.
