REMEMBER THIS:
By RW-(the original) June 22, 2007 2:41 PM | Link to this Do you think Truth?man and Unfunny Moron are going to be embarrassed when they find out Dick Cheney is right about his Office’s place in our government or do you think they’ll just pretend they never mentioned it.
NOW SEE THIS:
With a vote looming in Congress on Thursday to defund the Office of the Vice President in the White House’s annual appropriation, a report at The Politico claims that the White House will no longer advance the argument that the Vice President’s office is not a part of the executive branch.

Everyone agrees Ann Coulter will do anything to sell books and get noticed. But she is more indicative than that. She is an example, extreme to be sure, of what the GOP has been doing since 1932 — using the tactics of Joseph Goebbels to win elections and denegrate its opponents. The GOP acts like the Fascist party of America and Coulter is its Eva Braun.

The real Ann Coulter and the blog Ann Coulter must have not been hugged as children. As adults, they feed their insecurities by attempting to bring others DOWN to their levels. Ann thinks if she constantly directs her vituperative utterings towards others, the world won’t notice her own flaws.

{{{{{{Since when was the OVP not part of the executive branch? ———->Has Dick Cheney ever even read the Constitution of the United States<———-? You know, the one he took an oath to uphold and protect?-By Silly Moron}}}}}}
Now it’s probably a good idea to quit advancing that claim because of all the other entanglements, but the only duty the Vice-President has that is Constitutionally mandated is to act as President of the Senate. The Vice-President also DOES NOT report to the President in a boss/subordinate relationship like the cartoon Silly Moron linked to the next day.
It would have a very interesting case and one I very much would have liked seeing the Supreme Court take up.

@@, I read through the blog last night and saw your response. So, I’m going to attempt to respond back.
First of all, comparing Grady to a private non-profit school is like comparing apples and oranges. Yes, in your case, fundraising does work for schools, it also works for Grady, I’m sure they receive tons of grant money, both private, state, and federal. In fact, any of their budget that comes from the state or federal sources ARE grants. Any kind of money that is allocated through a government agency, is in response to a grant program.
Any grant money that is received via a Fortune 500 company or any private corporation does not come without strings attached. Corporations and private foundations have agendas and they fund money to places that fit their agenda, but when they fund the money, it is a legal contract, kind of like that institution is employed by them - which is why I don’t feel that severl private donors or contributors is a good thing for Grady - it’s like having too many chiefs.
So, like with anything, I think the solution to Grady’s problems is not going to happen with one thing, it will take a combination of actions to get them out of this trouble.
I am not a healthcare management expert, so I’m not going to even pretend that any specific solution I come up with will work.
However, I think that like any corporation, when they are failing, the management needs to go and be replaced. I know that conservatives believe in less government (except of course when it comes to social issues), but there are some institutions that require the governments involvement - at least that’s what I believe - and two of those are healthcare and education.
Yes, I feel that many of the “government” officials at Grady are corrupt, and I think that many of Grady’s problems are because of uninsured patients and illegal immigrants getting medical help. But because of that, I feel we need to look at the bigger picture and figure out WHY there are so many uninsured patients coming in, and then maybe Grady and other hospitals like them, can work on the solutions to fix the problem.
Oh, and also, a gatekeeper would be nice.

Mann Coulter should be in prison. Has the Secret Service investigated her yet for wishing John Edwards to be assassinated? Oh that’s right, Bush’s Secret Service only investigates liberals, while conservative man-w******* like Jeff Gannon are given free rein of the White House without even getting the basic background checks required of other frequent White House visitors. Why should we expect the Secret Service to investigate death threats against a Democratic presidential candidate? That would require them to do their job in an impartial manner. Just like they didn’t care when Pat Robertson suggested that terrorists nuke the State Department. It’s not their job to care, it’s their job to protect Republicans.

Cheney says he and his office are not part of the executive branch. But he’ll have to change his tune immediately in order to squash a subpoena by claiming executive privilege. Bosch:
(((Any grant money that is received via a Fortune 500 company or any private corporation does not come without strings attached.)))
You’re typical of the left. Suspicious of all things corporate, but confident in all things government which have already proven to be failures.
Like I said, I was not suggesting that Grady be taken over by private funding. It’s far too large. You could, however eliminate the abusers by privately funded clinics on the outskirts (like the clinics in Florida). That would reduce the overall cost to Grady and they could get back to their intended purpose.
What you fail to accept Bosch is the impact of human nature. Who wouldn’t take “advantage” of something that is free? How can you be sure that Grady staffers are verifying income on those individuals? Are they just wasting money so they can justify the need for more?
As to our school…the Administrator refuses to accept any government funds because THEY will seek to control how we function. People bring their kids to us because the government funded schools are failing to meet their needs.
The corporations? Their only request is that names and faces of the children can be used for media exposure, and THAT is granted by the parents, not the school.
No strings Bosch. That would defeat their purpose, which is exactly what I think the government is all about when it comes to individuals.
You may want to do some research into the SCHIP program that is up for review. If robbing from the elderly to cover the children is acceptable, then you’ve got yourself a plan. The abuses under that program are astounding.
There are articles in the NYP, the Seattle Times, The Olympian and yes, The Heritage Foundation.

I thought I’d skipped a few months of my life when I read the cartoon. Who cares? It seem just yesterday many on the Left cared, a lot. So much so that they posted and posted and posted about her.
I did go to John Edwards’ website to see how they represented Mrs. Edwards’ phone call and to see what Ms Coulter was talking about regarding “fund raising.” There it was - “here’s Ann Coulter. Give us money so we can fight her.”
So the answer to the question of “who cares?” is: John Edwards. A lot.

The difference between Coulter and the rest of American’s is that we use logic and reason to discuss real issues that are affecting use on a daily basis. Ann Coulter and friends would rather use catch phrases and false claims to smear other people. When you bring it down to this level, you are destroying the political debate on the issues which people like Ann Coulter could never win. What coulter, Hannity, and Rush talk about are NON ISSUES. Who cares about $400 hair cuts, who cares about Edwards primping his hair, who cares about the tin foil hat conspiracies that Hannity comes up with. THEY HAVE NO MEANING ON THE REAL ISSUES. The real issues that these people should be talking about are finding a way to gracefully exiting Iraq, Helping people in THIS country, education, out of control healthcare, etc, etc.
The thing is, these people don’t care about you, me, or this country. They’re not even journalist, they are entertainers. All they care about is that you listen to them and buy their books so they can continue to line their pockets and buy fancy apartments in downtown Manhattan. That’s why they say and make these outrageous claims. It’s the equivalent of verbal shock and awe. They make weak minded people believe that they are patriotic because they stand in front of the American flag on their books and attach apple pies and baseball to their far out ideas, or claim to be Christians. If these people had any interest in the well being of this country, they would ask REAL questions. They would ask the toughest of the tough questions to the president and his administration and hold them to account instead of humbling at their feet like the lap dogs they are. They would take a serious look at what it means to be in Iraq and what it has done to the safety of not only the US but to the safety of the world. They would ask why it took so long to get help to New Orleans. They would ask why there has been an attack on logic, reason, and science in this country.
However… it’s easier to keep the people dumb and happy… because dumb and happy people don’t ask questions.

@@, I’m not surprised that a private school doesn’t accept money from any government sources, gee I wonder why? So are you for vouchers too? Your private school will be inundated with the same “No Child Left Behind” bs that public schools have to endure every day.
But, @@, sorry, but you are simply wrong about grant money from private corporations. They always come with strings. Do you happen to administer the grant money? Did you write the grant proposals? Did you negotiate the award with the donors? Do you write the financial reports?
You see the good side of the grant awards, the smiling little faces of the children on the websites with the company logo right beside them.
And no, I don’t believe in all things government and nothing corporate. Corporations can do really great things, but they have their agendas, just like government. Government money is also allocated through strings. Nobody gives money for “free.”
I think in terms of the bigger picture. Are their abusers? Sure. Of course people will abuse the system if they are allowed to get away with it. I totally agree with you about that. But solutions to problems usually start with looking at WHY something is happening and then coming up with solutions to that problem.
Like I said, it will be a combination of things that will work.

W00t — with all due respect, what Coulter does is not verbal “shock and awe”. It’s verbal prostitution. People like Coulter wake up and say to themselves “What do I have to say today to get idiots to buy the crap I’m selling?” Once they figure out what it is, they go and do it. If Ann Coulter had to call her own mom a skank on national TV to sell 6 more books, she would do it. If she had to say that she hopes every baby with AIDS dies in agony to sell 11 more books, she would do it. If she had to go out there and get out of a car with no panties on to sell 15 more books, she would do it. It does not matter what it takes. As I said last night, she is the political equivalent of Paris Hilton. They are famous for one reason, and one reason only: she is a proud, unabashed s|uts. And there is a reason it’s the oldest profession — people are fascinated by it. We’re all the more fascinated by it because neither Paris nor Ann actually need to prostitute themselves, they would do just fine without it. They seem to want to do it. And people want to buy their wares. And as long as people are buying, they will get on TV.

I equate them to cheerleaders.
And I can say with the utmost confidence that no money is ever given away for free, not to government ran hospitals, not to private schools, not to any non-profit organization, never, never, never, sorry, but it’s not, government money, or private money.
I hope you do get those scholarships because to me, it will be a great day when private schools have to answer to the “feds.” Oh, the sweet ironies of life.

I generally record shows, blow past the parts that seem fluff or have guests I’m not too interested in (in BOR’s case, the Coulters and Malkins). I didn’t find many opposing viewpoint guests on Olbermann (OM?). Plus as I’ve said, he seems to me to spend a lot of time in addressing people, not issues. Not even using people to illustrate issues. Plus I think it costs credibility with OM with all the name-calling, or making up cutesy names for people he doesn’t like - as takeoffs on their given names. Strikes me as more of a jr high style - not a graduate-level style.
But some people like that. That’s fine. BOR gets a bit hyperbolic at times. I try to look past that for the idea - just as I do here.
I went to the “cut the mike” segment you posted - for once Crooks and Liars showed the entire segment, not edited to fit their agenda - the guests were the cofounder of Code Pink and a Democratic strategist. The topic was the Far Left antiwar group’s angst with Hillary, Congress, etc. The Code Pink person answered the questions AND got in her digs at Republicans. The strategist wouldn’t address the questions. What was it - BOR asked the Code Pink why they weren’t happy with Hillary. She replied they’d finally gotten Hillary more in alignment with their point of view but still weren’t happy (I think I got that right). BOR asked the Dem strategist if she agreed that there was a split between the far Left and Hillary. The lady said BOR was making up divisions, then said “well, the Bush Administration…” BOR gave her several chances to answer and explain, she wouldn’t discuss Liberal/Democratic divisions, then BOR cut her mike and gave all the rest of the time to the Code Pink cofounder. At the end he told the Dem strategist, sorry ‘bout that, but we have a few minutes here, a topic to discuss, and you’re invited to give a point of view on the topic, not about whatever you want to discuss. I have this fantasy about ann coulter: she is tied to a cross on the south lawn of the white house, given only vinigar to drink. President and Mrs Edwards are on a speaking platform also on the south lawn, and several hundred thousand people are cheering wildly as the president signs an executive order for the arrest and crusifixation of all right wing radio and print fanatics like ms coulter and her fans. Oh yeah, the hag on the cross is fully clothed from head to foot in a burka. We would not want to scare young children, or make grown men sweer off sex due to hideousness of ms coulters scrawney body. It is just too bad she was not on flight 93 with her equally ugly and obnoxious friend, whatever her name was, I have already forgotten. Hopefully we will all soon forget ms double ugly coulter, imho.

Coulter is great. She puts the face on the Bushdrones that they deserve—an ignorant, hateful embarrassment to the country.
And she’s done a great service to Edwards’ campaign. The funny part is, with all her complaining about Edwards “capitalizing” on her hysterical screeching to raise money… it never occurs to her that she could cut off that fundraising by just shutting up!
Of course, she’s incapable of that: an empty head and an open mouth always go together with neocon and their fan club, it seems.

The Dem debate is on tonight. Lotsa candidates. A limited time. A theme of topics. Candidates get told “you each get one minute per question. If you want to respond to an opposing view from another Democratic candidate you will be granted 30 seconds when I recognize you.”
Question comes about impact of ethanol production on food prices. Candidate answers with “Bush lied to get us in Iraq.” Host interrupts and repeats the question. Candidate responds with “the Republican quagmire.” Host says “we have a topic here, other candidates waiting,” then lets the candidate keep talking. Candidate blows past the time limit, effectively stealing time from the other candidates and keeping the spotlight on himself/herself.
You’re the host. Millions of people are watching to find out about what the candidates think about specific issues. They also want to hear from all the candidates, not just one.
You’re the moderator. What do you do?
I don’t expect an answer. It’s how I see the BOR thing - not a “free speech” issue at all.
BTW - with the banner - just make sure you’re not at a school-derived event with a principal who doesn’t like you nearby. You won’t get to go to school for a few days. Wait - maybe that was your whole point?

You critics ever try coming up with something creative every day of your lives…I’m thinking NO…it is the job of a political cartoonist to provoke in an amusing way…and he accomplishes that with almost every creation. The difference between Michael Moore, Al Gore and Nancy Pelosi and the rest of American’s is that we use logic and reason to discuss real issues that are affecting use on a daily basis. Michael Moore and friends would rather use catch phrases (Global Warming, Carbon Foot Print, Bring dignity and honor to Washington) and false claims to smear other people. When you bring it down to their level, you are destroying the political debate and the use common sense to the issues which people like Michael Moore, Al Gore and friends could never win. What Moore, Gore, and Pelosi talk about are NON ISSUES. Who cares about global warming? 30 years ago the same people were touting the new Ice Age. Who cares about the left’s never ending whining that Bush Lied, Cheney is a criminal. THERE ARE NO FACTS TO SUPPORT THOSE CLAIMS and they HAVE NO MEANING or IMPACT ON THE REAL ISSUES. The real issues that these people should be talking about are finding a way to win the war in Iraq, not supporting the enemies of the USA, helping to keep the economy growing, improve education, and get the corruption out of healthcare, etc, etc. The thing is, these people don’t care about you, me, or this country. They’re professional politicians and idiots and are not very entertaining. All they care about is that you listen to them and buy their books and watch their fiction on the big screen so they can continue to line their pockets and buy fancy apartments on the left coast. That’s why they say and make these outrageous claims. It’s the equivalent of verbal shock and awe. They make weak minded people believe that they are patriotic because they stand in front of the American people and attach apple pies and baseball to their far out ideas, or claim to be Christians. If these people had any interest in the well being of this country, they would ask REAL questions. They would ask the toughest of the tough questions on real issues and would work to resolve them. Let’s hold the new congress accountable instead of just saying that ‘change is good’. They should take a serious look at what it means to be in Iraq and what it has done to the safety of not only the US but to the safety of the world. They should ask why the politicians in New Orleans did NOTHING and then tried to blame the President for their short comings and failures. They should ask why there has been an attack on logic, reason, and science in this country. However… it’s easier to keep the people dumb and happy… because dumb and

I must respectfully disagree with your assessment of the other “Right Knights” here.
I have learned a great deal from the compassion exhibited by RW. I’ve had several occasions to witness it in personal discussions through e-mail and on his site.
Dusty’s appreciation for all things and ALL people comes through clearly in her posts.
Andy’s concern for America’s children born, and still to be born is equivalent to that of Bill O’Reilly’s.
Danish’s passion to protect American’s from socialist policies and our enemies within and without is unprecedented.
Compassionate conservativism is a new phenomenon that is misunderstood by many.
It’s not a fashion statement that can adorn the individual in the latest trend. It’s a “one-size fits all” off the rack ensemble.
There are no “designers” involved. It’s “sturdy work apparel” overalls if you prefer.

Freedom of speech notwithstanding, anyone who’d defend Ann Coulter’s irrational vitriol against John Edwards is as loony as she is. Someone on this board referred to the fact that AC has a law degree— BFD, so does Dan Quayle, one of the biggest morons in the history of mankind. Educated fools are a dime a dozen, and Coulter proves this every time she opens her mouth. For the life of me, though, I can’t figure out why anybody takes her seriously— she’s like a rabid Rhesus monkey, screeching and flinging feces against the bars of its cage, desperately clamouring for attention.

From an Edwards’ Campaign e-mail:
Dear Friend,
Last night I had an important talk with Ann Coulter and I want to tell you what happened. On Monday, Ann announced that instead of using more homophobic slurs to attack John, she will just wish that John had been “killed in a terrorist assassination plot.”
Where I am from, when someone does something that displeases you, you politely ask them to stop. So when I heard Ann was going to be on “Hardball” last night, I decided to call in and ask her to engage on the issues and stop the personal attacks. I told her these kinds of personal attacks lower our political dialogue at precisely the time when we need to raise it, and set a bad example for our children.
How did she respond? Sadly, perhaps predictably, with more personal attacks.
John’s campaign is about the issues—but pundits like Ann Coulter are trying to shout him down. If they will not stop, it is up to us cut through the noise. Help us fight back—please give what you can today.
Hahahaha.

w00t, What scares me the most is not terrorist attacks, FEMA, a natural disaster or the GOP. It’s the left’s desire and never ending push to turn this country into a socialist state. I want my money to remain my money. My Lord only asks for 10% to do his work, so why should I give a corrupt government more than that?
Border security is the job of our military. I would rather the military do their job ‘over there’ than in my backyard. Better education for my children is my responsibility NOT the government. My wife and I have homeschooled our children off and on. They have attended government schools a couple of times during their K-12 years. They preferred home schooling as government schooling bored them. As my daughter put it about public schools ‘there’s too much fluff and not enough substance. Does the ‘betterment of the American people’ require me to support people that refuse to work or contribute to their own well being? I cannot solve the country’s problems but I can and do support those less fortunate through my church and volunteer work.
While this administration has made many mistakes and I do not support the GOP 100%, it is the left that has me worried and concerned for our future. The left wants to ban all personal firearms. It is the left that wants to do away with free speech. It is the left that wants to take my earnings and give it to someone else.

Damn, the Iranians are firing off gas stations.
(((As many as 50 gasoline stations were reportedly torched early June 27 in Iran as angry citizens protested fuel rationing measures. There are additional unconfirmed reports that gasoline stations in several other cities across the country were also burned. Elsewhere, protesters reportedly blocked the main highway in Tehran, and clashes were said to have led to at least three deaths.)))
(((Moreover, the decision to ration also factors in the uncertainty surrounding Iran’s international position; additional sanctions over Tehran’s nuclear program could put the clerical regime in even more of a crunch. The rationing also allows Iran’s pragmatic conservatives, led by Expediency Council head Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, to weaken the ultraconservatives, led by Ahmadinejad, by fueling public dissatisfaction with the president, in hopes that it could eventually lead to his exit from the political scene. The maverick leader is increasingly viewed as a liability in terms of domestic politics, and especially on the foreign policy front.)))

Thanks though. Buy Danish and I were on that one several months back. We discussed it at RW’s place.
I’m not convinced that the American people would want the federal government telling them what to do with their money. I like the initiative that the states are taking. More media coverage of the potential for success would help to inform and empower people.

A bit of ritualism is a good thing. I’m just not quite so literal on points of doctrine. But I judge more on the results - and the good they do is tremendous.
Reminded me of that two-part PBS show a month or so back on Mormonism. They interviewed a New Orleans guy. Said he used to chase Mormon missionaries off his porch. Then the flood hit. He said within hours Mormon volunteers were scouring the streets in his neighborhood, assisting people and passing out food and supplies. He said he still wasn’t going to become a Mormon - but he would invite the missionaries in for something to eat and drink.
Results. Most of which you never hear about.

Nope, not even close. What you are seeing is Republicans screaming that the Democrats want a return to the Fairness Doctrine in order to stir up the last of the base. The radical right is trying to scare you again. It appears to be working.
*Is it not the left that wants to do away with the tax cuts? Is it not the left that has proposed the highest tax increase in the history of our country?
Heck, that wasn’t even in your original post you sneaky devil. Do your homework and you will find that yes, we want the only tax cuts given during war time, and only to the highest earners rescinded. You might also find the very recent study that points out that those tax cuts = our incredible deficit.

Dear George
Actually, I’ve read a bit about it. They seem to me, aside from Roman Catholics, to have some of the most consistent, expansive doctrine of most faiths. Progression - spiritual - continues. Most protestants don’t worry too much about the afterlife. It’s all quite nebulous. Some of the anti-evolutionists are happy, ‘cause when you die, they think everything stops. Go figure.
Part of their faith does fit in with my libertarian streak, though. It’s along the lines of “We think anybody should be able to worship whatever they want, whenever they want, whereever they want. We’d just like others to grant us the same.” In other words - you do what you want. I do what I want. So leave me alone.
Sounds okay to me -
PS - let’s not get going on a religion thing, again, okay? But I will say - we had some literalists discussing “Hell” the other day. Fire and torture and stuff (Mormons don’t believe in “Hell” either). You can thank the Persians for that literal concept. See? They’ve been causing trouble and fear for a long time.

{What chapter is that Jesus suggested 10% thing in?}
Watcher, as you already know, there isn’t one.
But if you’ve ever been to a Jewish Temple, you’ll know that you have to pay to play!
Tithing is an Old Testament concept. The tithe was a requirement of the law in which all Israelites were give 10% of everything they earned and grew to the Tabernacle / Temple (Leviticus 27:30; Numbers 18:26; Deuteronomy 14:24; 2 Chronicles 31:5). Some understand the Old Testament tithe as a method of taxation to provide for the needs of the priests and Levites of the sacrificial system.
But later it wasn’t Jesus of Nazareth, it was actually that good old reprobate turned apostle, Paul.
The New Testament nowhere commands, or even recommends that Christians submit to a legalistic tithe system. Paul states that believers should set aside a portion of their income in order to support the church (1 Corinthians 16:1-2).
Just trying to help.

The bald eagle, America’s national symbol, is flying high after spending three decades in recovery. On Thursday, the government took the eagle off the Endangered Species Act’s “threatened” list.
“The eagle has returned,” Secretary of the Interior Dirk Kempthorne told government officials, wildlife conservationists and journalists at a ceremony held on the steps of the Jefferson Memorial in Washington.
“Today is an opportunity to celebrate and draw inspiration,” Kempthorne added.
“We do have 1,300 species that have been listed and our recovery rate is about 1 percent. I would like to see us have more days like this when we can announce success and victory and delisting of species.”

C-SPAN Congressional Glossary Term Definition Used In Executive Privilege EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGE refers to the assertion made by the President or other executive branch officials when they refuse to give Congress, the courts, or private parties information or records which have been requested or subpoenaed, or when they order government witnesses not to testify before Congress. The assertion is based on the constitutional doctrine of separation of powers, is always controversial, subject to interpretation, and often litigated.
Also from “Things that are not in the US Constitution”
Executive privilege is a right to withhold information from the legislative and judicial branches by the President or by one of the executive departments. There is question of whether the right exists at all, a question that has lingered since the very first President, George Washington, asserted executive privilege in his very first term. Most times, executive privilege is asserted for purported national security reasons. Washington, however, asserted the privilege when the House requested details of the Jay Treaty - his rationale is that the House has no role in treaty-making and hence no right to request the documents. In modern times, Bill Clinton refused to simply comply with an order to appear before a grand jury, and instead negotiated terms under which he would appear. Richard Nixon’s is the most infamous use of executive privilege, and while the Supreme Court, in U.S. v Nixon, 418 U.S. 683 (1974), recognized that there exists a need for some secrecy in the executive branch, but that the secrecy cannot be absolute. The Court ordered Nixon to turn over tapes and documents that a special prosecutor had subpoenaed. More recently, the minutes and records of Vice President Dick Cheney’s energy task force were requested and denied based on executive privilege. This case made its way to the Supreme Court, but is still active.

Bosch,
Thanks for the scripture correction. I was referring to Matt 23:23. Yes, Jesus was fussing at them because of their lack of love and informing them that they should pay tithes, but they were missing it on some other issues.
Also, its not about worshipping St. Paul. Its about worshipping the whole counsel of God(The Bible), not just the parts we like. God inspired Paul just like every other author so therefore his writings are just as important.
P.S. Sorry about the hypocrite remark. My point to some of the idiots on the blog was that there is a place in the Bible were Jesus condones paying tithes.

Dear King George…I think once again you’re missing the point…Jesus was supposed to have come to abolish the law and establish a new covenant…one of love. Jesus was not actually advocating tithing, but was admonishing the hypocrits to major on the majors and minor on the minors. I’m sure Jesus had nothing against tithing, but he just wasn’t big on money issues period. He went where money wasn’t important, and seemed to have some disdain for the “money changers” and those that focused on the letter of the law. No. Go back and look at his parables and count how many of them related to money. I’m not saying finances is more imprtant than love and the other things he taught, but I’m sick and tired of folks always trying to downplay the role money plays in the bible and in our lives. The only time they do that is when it comes to the church. The flip side of that would be the “moneychangers” who put money ahead of the other important things, such as prayer.
Jesus wouldn’t have used finances to illustrate most of his parables if it wasn’t important. People use that excuse because they don’t want to give it to the church.

You may want to read the report. I did a while back, unfortunately, I don’t still have the link.
Sites like Think Progress (be they Left or Right) will often pull what advances their agenda (the Ann Coulter “quote” is a good example) or repeat verbatim, without any critical analysis (Prius pollutes more than Hummer H1) is another good example.
Just reading the report, without any preconceptions, can lead to wondering it the “concentrated ownership” is really a smokescreen for political motivation. Talk radio with conservative domination is an AM radio phenomenon. Extend that to broadcast tv (public airwaves, licenses - is it all that different?) but there we have hard denials that it’s anything but ‘neutral’ (about that bridge in Brooklyn I’m gonna sell ya’).
Then look at the authors - background, education, what drove the study, the definitions and criteria used (the “O Reilly calls names” is a great example).
So far I view it as another political exercise wherein the only way to counter an idea is to limit its expression. The fact Rep Trent Lott is on the bandwagon over frustration with the Immigration Bill just strengthens my opinion.

Dusty, Surely you didn’t mean that degrees from seminaries are worthless, surely not. Surely you didn’t mean to mock those who actually study the Bible and theology in an academic setting and apply their knowledge to their everyday lives. I know you didn’t mean that.
George, I know that this might be difficult for you, but there are some Christians who don’t take the Bible literally, those that do are called fundamentalists, and I am not one. Between my mother and my spouse, I know more about the Bible than most, not a Biblical scholar, but I know the difference between Paul and Jesus. That verse in Matthew (23:23), Jesus is yelling at the Pharasees because they care more about the money than the love of God. He is actually blasting tithing, or at least, that’s how I read it.
And fundamentals are the most skilled at cherry picking the Bible to fit their needs, judge others accordingly, and justify their intolerance.

Tonight’s Democratic debate is on PBS from 9-10:30 pm Eastern Time.
I’m interested if any of them have any concrete proposals about immigration.
Or if the questions are ever going to get half as tough as Fox/Wallace did with the Republican candidates.
And why are Dodd, Gravel and Kucinich still getting air time?

@@, your assumption is as meaningless as your question.
But, hey, if you can’t articulate a logical response, just obfuscate.

Did Dusters have an aneurism?
LHU - right on. I would be very curious to see if we detect any extra-terrestrial lifeforms in my lifetime. I’d probably lay 60-40 against it, but you never know.

bosch,
Indeed Bosch, I do not mock those who attend Seminary. My pastor is a Doctor of Divinity and so are several other friends.
I am saying that a good life is just that whether you attend seminary or not. Seminaries are usually the finest in academe but they are not a guarantee of becoming “saintly”. That depends on the person.
I have been fortunate to attend churches with very fine ministers. They were held in high esteem but unfortunately we also hear of those who “fall aside”.
Today I worked on a project with a woman minister (not my own pastor) who is a pleasure and a joy. She shines. But I think the last thing she would want anyone to say is “I know you are a Christian because you went to seminary.”

Now that you can finally get to PROP’s 2:28 link you’ll find that Ann Coulter never even mentioned Elizabeth Edwards, much less called her a harridan.
Here’s a much more honest assessment of what was said and a spot on analysis of the Edwards operation

To the apologist at 6:29.
Thank you so much. If not for brave good looking Republican men like yourself and Sean Hannity, I would not have the fabulous success I am currently enjoying.
And I hope to very much further the national dialogue with hate-mongering, epithets, slurs, outright lies, O’Reilly-like spin, straw men, red herrings and ad hominem attacks on the liberal scum.
Pt is what I do best! Now be a good American and go buy my books!

what——-The Conservatives here appear to have real jobs since they only come and go at break times or after work.
The Liberals all work for the government so they can blog all day every day. I guess that qualifies as a real job but just barely.

You jus gotta love it. All the Republiscum hatemongers, so mopposed to anything and everything new, progressive, different, better, intelligent, fair, decent and a host of other good qualities, are now angered about the immigration bill. Solely because their little and/or massive political trickery didn’t work this time around. They pretended to substitute fake compassion for their usual and constant hatred, bitterness, jealousey, failuritis, inner/outer uglinesses of all kinds, and this time it didn’t work. This particular attempt to screw the nation failed. How so. I live with 800,000 of these self-proclaimed “exiles” and witness all day, every day their contribution (s) to our local society. Their totally self-serving, “I deserve it” lifestyles and attitudes. A magnificent city now turned into a Crime Center. How did the Repubscum manage this one??? Beautiful.
