{{{From the writings and the speeches of Osama bin Laden and his colleagues, it is clear that they expected this second task, dealing with America, would be comparatively simple and easy. More recent developments, and notably the public discourse inside the U.S., are persuading increasing numbers of Islamist radicals that their first assessment was correct after all, and that they need only to press a little harder to achieve final victory. It is not yet clear whether they are right or wrong in this view. If they are right, the consequences—both for Islam and for America—will be deep, wide and lasting.}}}
The sniveling Coward democrats are fighting as hard as they can for Osama, patience.
If the chubby “woman”^^ you will have beaten America.

Having Bill Clinton back in the White House to “damage done to America by Bush & Co.” would be a good thing but I don’t think Hillary would listing to him after the election. If you want Bill in there then get Bill in there but Hillary is not a good substitute for Bill.

Doesn’t One Punk Monkey Man always tell us that the Bible is a myth? He better send Greenpeace a telegram.
ISTANBUL, Turkey (AP) - Environmental activists are building a replica of Noah’s Ark on Mount Ararat—where the biblical vessel is said to have landed after the great flood—in an appeal for action on global warming, Greenpeace said Wednesday.//Turkish and German volunteer carpenters are making the wooden ship on the mountain in eastern Turkey, bordering Iran. The ark will be revealed in a ceremony on May 31, a day after Greenpeace activists climb the mountain and call on world leaders to take action to tackle climate change, Greenpeace said.

GREAT REVIEW OF DEBATE

Brainless,
Gosh, Brian, I had no idea the Left used religion to push their political views/SARC.
That’s why it is so hypocritical for the Left to complain about the influence of the “religious right” in politics and how they violate their precious “wall of separation between Church and State”.
I never hear the secular progressives complaining about the political activism of The Reverend Martin Luther King, Reverend Berrigan, Reverend Jackson or Reverend Sharpton - not to mention the United Council of Churches and other Ultra-Left wing groups.

General Paul Eaton should be tried for treason. He doesn’t care about or support our troops. They should take all of his medals away from him and bust him to private. I don’t care how many years he served his country. He has absolutely no idea what he is talking about. Gen. Eaton is unpatriotic and should support President Bush who knows more about military matters than this General possibly could. They should throw Eaton in Gitmo.

Ignorance loves incompetence…
A U.S. government report released Tuesday showed that the recent U.S. troop increase and security crackdown has had little effect on the high number of attacks in the country. The average number of attacks rose from 71 a day in January 2006 to a high of 176 per day in October, according to the report from the Government Accountability Office. In February, when the troop increase began to take effect, daily attacks dropped slightly to 164. Daily attacks averaged 157 in March and 149 in April, the report said.
Once again, US citizens are being peed on and told it’s raining…

Personally, I was delighted that Falwell “spoke out” as much as he did. He proved what deranged, hateful losers the evangelicals and fundamentalists are, for all the world to see.
The best way to air out the stink from hateful fundies is to throw open the doors and drag them into the light. Kinda like Coulter and O’Reilly’s insanity help give all Bush-backers the bad name they so richly deserve.

I hope that Hillary does not get the nomination. She has way too much baggage, and is way too far left. The Democrats need a MODERATE! I personally like Hillary Clinton, but I don’t think she would be an effective President…somebody like Susan Collins (Republican from Maine) yes…she is much more of a centrist and has a brain.
Our country is screaming for a moderate center of the road candidate, one who isn’t a freaky Christian fundamental, who believes that blowing up all things Islam is the answer to everything.
We need a candidate who is interested in bringing back dignity to this country and not polarizing our citizens. We need a candidate who is going to do something about healthcare, education, protect our borders, end corporate welfare and corruption, and begin to start fixing the environment.
I’m sorry, but I just don’t think Hillary can do that…she’s too far to the left and is blinded by all things anti-Bush….

Goldie, I like Obama the best so far for the Democrats. He’s kind of in a Catch-22 situation, he’s not been in Washington a long time, so he has no experience, but if he’d been in Washington for a while, he’d be an insider.
He seems to have the most sense of the candidates and seems like a pragmatic kind of guy, I haven’t watched any of the debates, so I can’t say for sure. I’ve seen a couple of interviews with him and he seems really like a respectable kind of fellow and very articulate. But like I said, I haven’t seen the debates, so I will have to read up on his issues, and I haven’t had the time lately to do so.
I just know that Hilary is too far left, and we don’t need that in our country right now. We need away from the crazy Christian fundamentals who have ruined our country and caused a polarized shift like I have never seen and hope to never see again.
One thing I respect about the Republicans this time around is they seem to be getting away from the fundamentals which may hurt them in the short future, but will bring back respect to their party in the long run.
I wish that Susan Collins would run for president. Every time I’ve heard her speak, I think…hey, this is a woman who I could back. John McCain used to be like that, but he’s sold his soul to the devil now and has fallen under the neo-con, I must do whatever to win, spell…sad…I thought he had potential.

Hey Dusty, here’s another one whose patriotism you can question. A nation of ‘yes’ men not an option
I was insulted by Gov. Sonny Perdue’s comments to keep my mouth shut.
As a former naval aviator who served his country for five years during the Vietnam era, I won’t shut up. We failed in Vietnam because of politicians, and we’re failing in Iraq because of politicians. The Bush administration’s blunders have resulted in thousands of lost and maimed lives and destroyed families.
Perdue is asking us to do the same thing that President Bush has done —- become a nation of “yes” men. What about our First Amendment rights?
At some point in the future (10 weeks, 10 months or 10 years), everyone will realize that we’ve failed in Iraq. Then, we’ll depart and let them fight their own civil war.
My patriotic desire is to save 3,000 lives instead of losing another 3,000 lives. Don’t tell me to shut up, governor!

Here is an example of how spineless the GOP is, this happened yesterday:
The drama unfolded after freshman Democrat Carlos Uresti of San Antonio was ill in his office and away from the Senate floor. That meant Republicans, who enjoy a 20-11 majority in the Senate, had the two-thirds necessary to bring the measure up for debate.
Complicating matters was the fact the Senate’s longest-serving member, Democrat John Whitmire of Houston, was in a room behind the Senate floor when the roll call votes began, and his “no” vote was not recorded by the time he hurried back.
Had he been there, House Bill 219 would have been stalled on a 19-10 vote because Republican Glenn Hegar of Katy was also outside the chamber during the vote.
Visibly angry that his vote was not counted, Whitmire shouted: “I voted no!”
Dewhurst replied: “You did not vote.” He told him that the Senate secretary had called his name several time and he was not available.
Meanwhile, Democrats were scrambling to organize a time-killing filibuster to at least stall for time before the final vote on the measure.
Whitmore, still fuming, slammed shut his desk table, prompting a stern rebuke from Dewhurst.
“Dean (the name given the longest-serving member), you’re going compose yourself or you’re going to leave the floor,” Dewhurst said.
Finally, Dewhurst agreed to a do-over because Hegar had returned and he would cancel Whitmire’s vote.
But as Senate Secretary Patsy Spaw called the roll, a pale Uresti returned to the floor to cast the 11th vote needed to block the bill.

What it is about the GOP trying to take advantage of sick people? Here is ACT II:
In hair-raising testimony before a Senate committee yesterday, Jim Comey, the former No. 2 official at the Justice Department, described what might be called the Wednesday Night Massacre of March 10, 2004. Gonzales, then the White House counsel, and White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card staged a bedside ambush of Attorney General John Ashcroft while he lay in intensive care. Comey, serving as acting attorney general during Ashcroft’s incapacitation, testified about how, on a tip from Ashcroft’s wife, he intercepted the pair in Ashcroft’s hospital room. The door opened and in walked Mr. Gonzales, carrying an envelope, and Mr. Card,” Comey told the spellbound senators. “They came over and stood by the bed.” They wanted Ashcroft to sign off on an eavesdropping plan that Comey and others at the Justice Department had already called legally indefensible. Ashcroft “lifted his head off the pillow and in very strong terms expressed his view of the matter” — that Comey was right. “And as he laid back down, he said, ‘But that doesn’t matter, because I’m not the attorney general. There is the attorney general.’ And he pointed to me.” Gonzales and Card “did not acknowledge me,” Comey testified. “They turned and walked from the room.”

Yet AQI has a mystique of ferocity among the people, too many of whom believe AQI zealotry will overwhelm the Iraqi security forces. Muffin — I’m not the one who needs to do the debating. I do not know enough of the science behind global warming to have formed my own, completely independent opinion. You know far less than me. However, since I don’t know enough, I choose to rely on the consensus of those who do know enough. Yes, it is a hotly debated issue, but the current consensus is that human beings are influencing global temperatures. Now, you know far less than me, but you choose to take the side that your right-wing blogs tell you to take. That is your prerogative, of course, saves you the trouble of thinking. But thankfully you have no say in the policy arena. So no, I don’t plan to debate anyone. I don’t have the time to get fully informed, so I will trust those who have. You will continue to trust the minority who hold the opposite opinion. But maybe, just maybe, once we get that cancer out of the White House our government will start making decisions based on the best available science. In which case I’m pretty sure we’ll find out the full story. Count the days you can keep ignoring the truth, Muffin. The rest of us are.

I don’t know if opposition to global warming has as much to do with religion as it does with economics. Conservatives like our Muffin believe that anything done for the common good is bad because it costs money. So she thinks that making sure we’re not impacting the environment too much is not cost effective when she could much better spend that $ on a new golf club for kid. I think this stems from some sort of fear of Communism: doing anything for people in general is tantamount, in their perverted minds, to setting up Gulags and collective farms. Although I’m sure the “eh, Rapture’ll be here soon” sentiment plays into it as well.

BOO!!
Are you jackasses having a contest to see how many irrelevant posts you can make about my kid? Freaking losers.
rushncap,
That^^means you, and here’s some “consensus” for you:
One of the difficulties in identifying the causes of the Little Ice Age is the lack of consensus on what constitutes “normal” climate.
I know that Al Gore likes to say that “the Earth has a temperature” but it’s particularly idiotic when neither he nor anyone else can even agree as to what “normal” is.
BTW, how are those new skis working out for you?
Alma Not Mater,
Apparently you would like me to tell you a fairy tale since articles written by meteorologists, climatologists, and other scientists are unacceptable to you. If I wanted to write fairy tales I’d be a children’s book author and get paid it.
The explanations of scientists, along with a surfeit of common sense, tells me that Global Warming (or “climate change”) is a naturally occurring phenomenon (as is Global Cooling) and that you loons are too freaking stupid, arrogant, and politically motivated to figure out that compared to the effects of the sun, volcanic activity, and variations in the Earth’s axis, man is powerless to change the climate.
We can control pollution. Too bad you loons decided to drop that issue for “climate change”. I guess the tax/benefit analysis didn’t work out for your Socialist vision.

I’m always amazed to see how quickly the liberals accuse Christians of being hard-headed when it comes to global warming and evolution. Somehow they think it is in conflict with our faith.
They couldn’t be more wrong, as usual. I for one believe in evolution, but not absent intellectual intent.
I’ve practiced conservation measures for 25 years. Work in my county to preserve greenspace although not as successfully as I would have hoped.
People need houses; houses require space; natural gas lines; powerlines. All these require space which requires clearing trees. Hydropower requires space which requires clearing more trees. Roads that take you from here to there. They all require space.
A recent expedition to the Arctic to determine changes in the climate found the Inuits who had this to say:
“We have lived in this region for centuries and we will continue to,” he added. “As the climate changes, we will adapt.”
ADAPT you say?
It is exactly BECAUSE I believe in evolution/adaptation of a species, that I am not inclined to overreact on the global warming issue.
A prime example of government’s interference in environmental matters gave us the “dustbowls” of the midwest.
Al Gore gives us the hysterical “dustbunnies” under their beds.

Pardon the interruption, but I wanted to ask steve-o a question.
I read a piece written by Thomas Sowell the other day. It related to how “academia” promotes a diversity in cultures. So much so that bookstores promote black literature in the African American Authors section of their establishments.
Here’s the problem steve-o. People are looking for interesting, well-written books on particular subjects, but by promoting authors based on their ethnic background rather than their talent, their works are often overlooked since they are encouraged or choose to place their works in a specified section.
A good author is a good author whose talent comes second to their ethnicity if academia has anything to do with it.
I think that’s rather a shame, don’t you? Hell, it might even be a subversive tactic on the part of academia if someone is into conspiracy theories, which I’m not.
I just don’t think they have African American’s best interest at heart.

Now, often times I see “black literature” or “black history” sections in book stores because they are particular topics that people in which people may be interested. If someone is looking for a well-written book on an aspect of black hisotry, wouldn’t it be logical that they find the book in the “black history” section?

I believe some bookstores actually group some books together to make it easier to find a certain genre of literature and/or analysis, such as books related to psychology might actually go into their section labelled “Psychology”. Books relating to anthropology might actually be placed in a section labelled “Anthropology.” Literature relating to women’s issues might be labelled “Women’s Studies”… It’s amazing how bookstores might decide to do that and not have xenophobic or racist reasons for doing so… having worked in several bookstores during my college years, I saw lots of books actually —gasp— sorted and grouped by specific topic.
Just amazing how the retail stores figure these things out for their business needs and possible easier book-finding needs for their customers.

Huh:
Another example is a bit of “global warming” alarmism from LiveScience.com. The headline: “California-Sized Area of Ice Melts in Antarctica.” The lead paragraph:
Warm temperatures melted an area of western Antarctica that adds up to the size of California in January 2005, scientists report.
But go a few paragraphs down, and you find that this is much less of a big deal than it sounds:
NASA’s QuikScat satellite detected snowmelt by radar pulses that bounce off of ice that formed when snowmelt refroze (just as ice cream turns to ice when it is refrozen after being left out on the counter too long.)
Maximum high temperatures of 41 degrees Fahrenheit that persisted for about a week in Antarctica caused a melt intense enough to create an extensive ice layer.
In other words, a summer heat wave caused snow on the surface to melt for a week or so, but it froze again when the weather cooled down. LiveScience quotes Konrad Steffen of the University of Colorado: “Increases in snowmelt, such as this in 2005, definitely could have an impact on larger scale melting of Antarctica’s ice sheets if they were severe or sustained over time.” Definitely! The only thing is, they weren’t.

The mistake that conservatives make is thinking that black people follow the Democratic Party like sheep. All you have to do to keep the South is for Reagan to run in place on the issues he’s campaigned on since 1964… and that’s fiscal conservatism, balancing the budget, cut taxes, you know, the whole cluster…
Questioner: But the fact is, isn’t it, that Reagan does get to the Wallace voter and to the racist side of the Wallace voter by doing away with legal services, by cutting down on food stamps…?
Atwater: You start out in 1954 by saying, ‘Nier, nier, ni_er.’ By 1968 you can’t say ‘nier’ - that hurts you. Backfires. So you say stuff like forced busing, states’ rights and all that stuff. You’re getting so abstract now [that] you’re talking about cutting taxes, and all these things you’re talking about are totally economic things and a byproduct of them is [that] blacks get hurt worse than whites.}}}

I got no time for you right now because you’re talking jibberish. I could give a fluck about EQ.
BTW, how do you tutor your son in science?
@@,
I’m sure your black conservative neighbors think. Nobody said they didn’t. But you really haven’t addressed why 90% of blacks vote Democrat. Blacks must not feel mistreated by the Democrat Party if 90% of them vote for Dem candidates. You, as well as other Repubs, that are concerned about this should really ask yourselves why that is.

{{I don’t know what you think it is that they have to offer, but their exploitation of African Americans is one of the main reasons I also left the Democratic party, and I’m white.}}
Don’t fall for Boobs’ rationalization for “why” she left the Dems. She’s already told us that she had a former boyfriend that was a Dem, and when she met up with her hubby, he was a Repug so she had to “convert” for him. Sounds so much like a typical Repug Party woman. Back to your kitchen now, Boobs!

Just what kind of porn is it you watch when you’re whacking off a t work?
steve-0,
Why would you start a comment to someone by saying you have no time for them and end it by asking them a question?
Maybe that 90% question is a better one for you to ask since the problems that Democrats keep promising to fix never get fixed. Sounds a lot like Stockholm syndrome to me.

You are soooo dumb, and have a short memory to boot. I was voting Democrat against my husband’s staunch conservative vote.
Many a verbal battle on politics has been had in our lovenest.
steve-o:
I really can’t say or understand why 90% of African Americans are still voting Democrat. The opportunities are there to share in the American dream, not to be pigeonholed because the Democratic party has convinced it’s constituents that they can’t do it on their own. They NEED government.

I am not on any meds unless you consider an occasional “Motrin” to be a “med”.
The other day one of your comrades wanted to send Rush to the electic chair for taking Viagra, so it wouldn’t surprise me if Motrin goes into the “Meds” category for you loons.
btw, in retrospect that Yahoo post was insensitive and I should have looked for something else. I honestly don’t mean to make fun of desperate and suicidal people.
steve-o-dunce-o,
I don’t give a fluck how many times you ask a question that does not deserve an answer, I won’t answer it.
It’s really too bad you don’t have the I.Q. to understand what E.Q. is, since I went to the trouble to Google “Emotional Intelligence” for your lazy self.
I demonstrated to you how I teach you science and you don’t even bother to learn your lesson.

steve-o: You nailed it! Lee Atwater was the hatchet man for Bush 1. George W. Bush learned at the knee of Lee. Sadly, for the American people and the world. He was a viscious corrupt rat. Later he developed incurable brain cancer. He recanted his sinful ways. He asked for forgiveness for the rascist effort you point out. Karl Rove is an obese perverted Atwater. George W. crafted Rove after Atwater.

Global Warming = Bunk
There are as many scientists (more?) who view global warming as a farce as those who support the theory. Google if you do not believe.
The Militant Greens, as opposed to rational Greens, needed a vehicle to use for attacking industrialized nations - primarily the US.
There has never been a period of global warming in the history of Earth, as known by scientists, that produced any ill effects. Ice Ages, on the other hand, have all been proven to be disastrous for the inhbitants of Earth.
The Militant Greens had a choice to make on their disater theory. Since the Ice Ages have all been approximately 90,000 years followed by a warming period of 10,000 years, and blaming man for an Ice Age seemed difficult, the Militants chose global warming.
To create a scare you need a cause and a result. Could not blame man for the Ice Ages so the Greens chose global warming although there was no evidence of warming or a terrible result. So the Greens manufactured the data and the results.
The reality is that the last Ice Age ended about 10,000 years ago and if green house gases actually are contributing to a slight warming then the result may actually be positive - a slowing of the coming Ice Age.

Listen to the questions. Fox held the Republicans feet to the fire and they would do exactly the same with the Dems. The only difference is that Republicans aren’t trying to hide who they really are.

Misogynist. Regardless of politics—whether Dem or Rep, pro- or anti- Hillary—the cartoon is misogynist. Depicting Hilary as ‘fat’ reveals the cartoonist’s prejudice—a gratuitous attack on a strong women in a way that would not work on a male of comparable physical stature. Does this guy—a Pulitzer winner—have daughters? I wonder how they will feel to look at Hillary in real life, a normal healthy sized woman, and see their dad’s interpretation of her body size.
