Unearthed! The Justice Department Loyalty Oath written by Monica Goodling:
“I, [state your name], do solemnly swear On, like, the biggest Bible ever, Preferably one from Regent University, That I will faithfully execute my duties As they’re passed down from Karl and Alberto and Monica [Wink at me. Hi!] And occasionally a late-night phone call from a U.S. Senator or Representative from my state. And will, to the best of my ability, Prosecute any and all Democrats on voter fraud charges, I mean really grind my boot into their face until they’re unrecognizable, And they need, like, a hundred and eighty stitches in their Democrat heads, No matter how bogus the charges are, And they will, trust me, be bogus as hell, I will go after them, their families, their pets, Their careers and their friends. I will dig up the bodies of their relatives and mock them, And I will go through their trash twice a day. And I will never prosecute people in my own party, No matter how corrupt they are, Because that would be like punching my mom in the mouth. One nation, under, like, the most awesomest God, A Christian God, of course, evangelical and heterosexual, And the most awesomest President, George W. Bush. And one more thing…I will NEVER breath a word of this to anyone. And if I’m ever subpoenaed, I’ll print all my emails and then burn them, So they’ll be destroyed for good. Go, JUSTICE! Go, JESUS! Go, BUSH! Go, REPUBLICANS! Amen.

Is ML serious? With all that is going on the world, who cares about how well Katie Couric mimes the news?
The new Commonwealth Fund Report was released today and it says the same thing it has said for quite a long while. “The United States is not getting value for the money that is spent on health care.”
Our nation desperately needs to jettison the hodge-podge, hap-hazard, cobbled-together system of healthcare that has evolved in response to managed-care reforms instituted since the ‘80s and replace it with an efficient system of Universal Health Care that will better serve the public at large.

U.S. Healthcare Expensive, Inefficient: Report
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Americans get the poorest health care and yet pay the most compared to five other rich countries, according to a report released on Tuesday. Germany, Britain, Australia and Canada all provide better care for less money.
“The U.S. health care system ranks last compared with five other nations on measures of quality, access, efficiency, equity, and outcomes,” the non-profit group which studies health care issues said in a statement. The group has consistently found that the United States, the only one of the six nations that does not provide universal health care, scores more poorly than the others on many measures of health care.
“It is pretty indisputable that we spend twice what other countries spend on average,” she said. Per capita health spending in the United States in 2004 was $6,102, twice that of Germany, which spent $3,005. Canada spent $3,165, New Zealand $2,083 and Australia $2,876, while Britain spent $2,546 per person.
“We focus primarily on measures that are sensitive to medical care making a difference — infant mortality and healthy lives at age 60,” Davis said. “Those are pretty key measures, like if your children will survive infancy and whether you are going to die before age 75.”
They also looked at convenience and again found the United States lacking — with a few exceptions. “We include measures such as waiting more than four months for elective, non-emergency surgery. The United States doesn’t do as well as Germany but it does a lot better than the other countries on waiting time for surgery,” Davis said.
“We looked at the time it takes to get in to see your own doctor … (or) once you go to the emergency room do you sit there for more than two hours, and truthfully, we don’t do well on those measures,” Davis said.
The United States had the fewest patients — 84 percent — reporting that they have a regular doctor. And U.S. doctors are the least wired, with the lowest percentage using electronic medical records or receiving electronic updates on recommended treatments.

Major General (ret.) Paul D. Eaton is the second former commander on the ground in Iraq to declare that the President did not listen to his commanders, and is still not listening, when it comes to the war in Iraq. This comes on the heels of an ad that shook the political world last week, when former Iraq commanding general, Major General (ret.) John Batiste became the first former commander from the war to take to the paid airwaves to say the same thing.

Luckovich got one right, but as they say even as stopped clock… However, you libs still don’t get why not only CBS has ratings in the toilet, so do the Arab Broadcasting Co. and the Nazi Broadcasting Co. The big three together only have 30 million viewers a night. This is not just cable. This is also because the coverage is so slanted and left-wing p.c. opinion driven as to make it completely irrelevant. Just look at what happened in France this past week and think for a little while. Segolene Royal was backed by the great majority of the European press, but because socialism is irrelevant, their slant meant less and less. People, at least those with the ablitity to think for themselves, are seeking out other sources of news because they know lies when they hear or read them. I wonder if the AJC’s brilliant publishers and editors have asked themselves why their cirulcation is in the dust bin?

Ever since Vice President Spiro Agnew denounced news outlets that were offending the Nixon administration in the autumn of 1969, the specter has been much more often cited than sighted. “The liberal media” is largely an apparition — but the epithet serves as an effective weapon, brandished against journalists who might confront social inequities and imbalances of power.

3 missing soldiers. Al queda? The last time we searched for a missing soldier in Sadr City, we were told to get the F out of there and stop looking. Bush complied. I dont think anyone’s mentioned that poor soldier to Bush/Rush since. I wonder what happened to him. Hannity wont mention him, cause Hannity wont allow ratings to drop by confronting the truth, or dealing with messy realities that dont conform to spin.
The problem with that 3 missing soldier report is that Bush/Rush has no data about the Al Queda constituency. How large are the cells? Average Profile? How are they supplied? How many men? Clones? Wannabe’s? Copy Cats? It’s easy to say you’re al queda? What is al queda?
Bush/Rush has no info. In fact, the depth and breadth of Bush’s Iraq Adventure is still alarming the most cautious and reluctant of those who voted for this war. We still dont really know what kind of animal Iraq is becoming. It’s still forming, evolving, and anything can happen.
The visit by the 11 concerned conservatives to the white house last week is misleading. Even though it provides a ray of hope that a veto overriding majority is forming in congress, it suggests a different scenario.
The reality of Iraq is slowly following the news reports back to the US. There is a truth about what Bush has unleashed that will astonish and frighten. The fact that most Republicans are four years behind the curve of Liberal Wisdom about this war means that soon the truth will be uttered by respected members of the Republican Party and those words coming out of those mouths will shake up this country like never before.
What have we done? We’re about to understand. The pathetic conservative blogs about Iraq, so simplistic and ignorant about the reality on the ground and what’s evolving and what’s already irreversible, will destroy the Party. Let them spew. Let Rush/Hannity make fools out of themselves. Watch as they start to try to spin their way out of it. Watch as they say, “Uh, I was just trying to show the country, during that last 1000 broadcasts, how liberals think the war is going, see, they want to stay the course and destroy the “al queders” in Iraq, and ignore the civil war, but we conservatives know better, we were against the war, but we had to show everyone that it’s the liberals who are for the war and stuff. Since the Stupidest Troll on the Internets refuses to own up to why he lies, let’s speculate, shall we?
1) Habit. Telling the Big Lie over and over again is so ingrained in the RW Troll mindset they simply can’t help themselves. They seem especially susceptible to lies about the military; remember their ridiculous obsession with John Kerry’s botched punchline, and how they pretended he was speaking about “the troops,” and not GWB?
2) Desperation. With <30% approval these days, the neocons have nothing new, so they are forced to recycle old nonsense.
3) Mental disorder. Only The Stupidest Troll on the Internets’ shrink knows for sure.
Any other suggestions? Join in, won’t you?

The Iraqis are telling us with every word and act that they would rather start over in the stone age than spend another minute under US occupation.
They dont want any part of any US ideas.
If we are stupid enough to ever leave Iraq, then they will hang every member of the elected parliament shortly afterwards. That’s a fact.
We are trapped in Iraq forever. that’s the first truth that Rush/Hannity must broadcast. We are not electing to stay, but rather we are being forced to stay.
Hannity/Rush has never ever once admitted that the Iraqi Parliament is mostly Shia. Never. They probably dont know about it, or they dont know what it means. No, they would rather look at the Fort Dix Six, and rant all day long about how liberals want to free them because they were discovered by unconstitutional methods, or some spin like that.
The Fort Dix Six would have been cut down at the gates of Fort Dix. They had no real plan, instead, were drawn along by FBI infiltrators who probably came up with all the ideas, as stupid as they were. Sounds like a Bush plan to me. There are very many similarities in the Iraq Invasion plan and the Fort Dix attack plan. Probably the same genius wrote both.
The CIA says that Plan B was to burn a pile of Dixie Chicks records.
Also, Rush uses the Fort Dix Six to prove that al queda is here and the war on terror is real and Iraq is the front lines. Try to follow the logic. You’re head will implode. The man’s mind has obviously been fried by RX.
And I think it’s a damn shame.

Luck,
The tactic of a terrorist is to instill fear. To cause those who are afraid to do that which they would not otherwise do. To cause certain members of the terrorized society to turn on their fellow citizens.
I understand that you are afraid. You demonstrate it everyday. You are a scared little child in a dangerous world who believes that there are enemies among you, including a substantial portion of your countryman(libs). Therefore the Terrorists have won the battle of Luck. They can stick their flag in your chest and declare “Mission Accomplished.”
However, many of the rest of us are not afraid. We were not afraid of the British Empire, Japan or Nazi Germany and we will not let a rag tag bunch of nut cases destroy the country from within or without.
You, personally, have lost the war on terror. Can you summon the decency to shut up and let the rest of us Americans, liberal, independent or conservative, win it? Now go crawl into your whole while the rest of us in a bipartisan way, make Bush irrelevant and end this stupid, stupid war.

Another favorite RR quote:
“However, our task is far from over. Our friends in the other party will never forgive us for our success, and are doing everything in their power to rewrite history. Listening to the liberals, you’d think that the 1980’s were the worst period since the Great Depression, filled with suffering and despair. I don’t know about you, but I’m getting awfully tired of the whining voices from the White House these days. They’re claiming there was a decade of greed and neglect, but you and I know better than that. We were there.”- Ronald Reagan, Speech at 1994 Gala for 83rd Birthday (1994-02-03)
Being a RR fan, I am often reminded of the irony of the former President’s words. In retrospect, I have now lived through the ’90s, as well, and seen the same words to be applicable to the Reps as regards their admonishment of Clinton’s prosperous tenure during the ’90s. I expect these words will always hold true from one administration change to the next, such is the nature of American hubris.
From my own experience, the ’80s were very good to me; so were the ’90s and I’m still doing as well, today. Contrary to pronouncements from the radical right/left, whether led by cons or libs, America has remained the greatest place to live in the world. I expect the same will hold true in the future, as well, regardless of pronouncements from doomsday prophets from either side of the aisle.

No doom and gloom from where I sit AntiR. Here’s my favorite among Reagan’s many great speeches:
“I won a nickname, ‘The Great Communicator.’ But I never thought it was my style or the words I used that made a difference: it was the content. I wasn’t a great communicator, but I communicated great things, and they didn’t spring full bloom from my brow, they came from the heart of a great nation — from our experience, our wisdom and our belief in the principles that have guided us for two centuries.”

First link I checked, nothing yet but I wanted to share this:
{{{In 1972 Jane Fonda, Tom Hayden and others traveled to North Vietnam to give their support to the North Vietnamese’s Government. When she returned to the United States, she advised the news media that all of the American Prisoners of War were being well treated and were not being tortured. As the American POWs returned home in 1973, they spoke out about the inhumane treatment and torture they had suffered as prisoners of war. Their stories directly contradicted Jane Fonda’s earlier statements of 1972. Some of the American POWs such as Senator John McCain, a former Presidential candidate, stated that he was tortured by his guards for refusing to meet with groups such as Jane Fonda’s. Jane Fonda, in her response to these new allegations, referred to the returning POWs as being “hypocrites and liars.”}}}
That being from an American soldier, who’s word I have no doubts about at all.

Katie Couric is actually a good, experienced journalist who, unfortunately, is getting smeared by people who only remember her “interviews” with Burt Reynolds and her “fun with cute/gross” animals on the Today show.
If you want to talk shallow, talk ex Today host Deborah Norville.
Unfortunately, CBS is trying to instantly transform her into the next John Chanchellor, minus the gonads. A terrible mistake. I don’t watch her. Charles Gibson and Brian Williams (in that order) are so much better. But she can’t be that unhappy. At $15 million a year, I wouldn’t be in too big of a funk.

I’m gonna dog you Cowards:
David Hoffman, a former POW who was shot down over North Vietnam in 1971, said that he had been tortured because of Fonda’s visit to Hanoi. “The torture resulted in a permanent injury that plagues me to this day,” says Hoffman, who suffers a disfigured arm inflicted by brutal communist guards at the POW camp known as the “Zoo.” “When Jane Fonda turned up, she asked that some of us come out and talk with her,” he recalled bitterly. “No one wanted to. The guards got very upset, because they sensed the propaganda value of a famous American war protestor proving how well they were treating us.

Jack666 - If you have not heard of the horrible deprivations and completely inhumane treatment received by US POWs during the Vietnam War, then you have either never paid attention or you just are completely and wilfully ingnorant on the subject. Read Jeremiah Denton’s book. There are other sources as well. Abu Graib in no way compares to the horrors of the Hanoi Hilton. {{{Will my generation ever forgive Jane Fonda for being right about Vietnam?-The Atlanta Journal Constitution}}}
At a time when 50,000 U.S. servicemen had already died on the battlefields of Vietnam, Fonda sided with the communists, making radio broadcasts from Hanoi designed to break the morale of U.S. fighting forces while encouraging the North Vietnamese to fight harder and kill more Americans. Fonda’s Hanoi radio broadcasts and propaganda films were especially painful and damaging to American servicemen held as prisoners of war by the Hanoi Reds. Communist interrogators used the Fonda recordings, along with starvation and torture in attempting to brainwash American POWs.
Censor this, AJC.

Really funny how all these old draft dodgers talking about Jane Fonda. Most of these old draft dodgers got us into this Iraq war now. Another funny was Ms Fonda, a lot of Viet vets then and a lot of people now dont want this war brought on by a group of people who always seem to never partake. For you on here who always have so much patriotism, join the army or send your kids to the recruiters. one old vet

Jim - - As an active duty military veteran (1969-1973), and against the Vietnam “conflict” at the time, I supported anti-war efforts. (Jane has regrets and apologized for youthful indiscretions.) The war on Vietnamese (and Iraqis) is far worse than her transgressions. We should not have been there to begin with. I expect there will be plenty of finger pointing when this quagmire is reviewed decades in the future, but the blame should be focused on Duh-bya’s administration for the invasion and all consequences (human toll, environmental and cultural destruction and financial burden).

1) Why did your political party vote for the wars, both of them?
2) Why won’t they cut off funding for Iraq?
3) Why don’t you go live in Vietnam or Iraq and fight against the United States instead of doing it from safely within it’s protected borders?

“SUPPORT OUR TROOPS” does not mean sending them into battle and cheering from the comfort of your daily routine.
Who sent our young men to Vietnam and demanded 58,195 sacrifice their lives? Robert McNamara (architect of the Vietnam war) made apologies for his role in the conflict. Where is the vilification of those who sent troops into battle and POW status? (Jane Fonda is a distraction from the real issues.)
BRING THE TROOPS HOME (let the war funding veto stand).

Al Gore - 9/23/2002 (before the invasion for you historically challenged)
“The resulting chaos in the aftermath of a military victory in Iraq could easily pose a far greater danger to the United States than we presently face from Saddam. Here’s why I say that; we know that he has stored away secret supplies of biological weapons and chemical weapons throughout his country. As yet, we have no evidence, however, that he has shared any of those weapons with terrorist groups. If the administration has evidence that he has, please present it, because that would change the way we all look at this thing.”

Viet Nam has been one of the most heavily bombed countries in the world. Over 100,000 people have been killed or maimed by landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) since the end of the war with the United States in 1975.
Civilians reported killed by military intervention in Iraq : 63,744 - 69,795

February 1993: The Internal Revenue Service determines that funds from Falwell’s Old Time Gospel Hour program were illegally funneled to a political action committee. The IRS forced Falwell to pay $50,000 and retroactively revoked the Old Time Gospel Hour’s tax-exempt status for 1986-87
1994-1995: Falwell is criticized for using his “Old Time Gospel Hour” to hawk a scurrilous video called “The Clinton Chronicles” that makes a number of unsubstantiated charges against President Bill Clinton—among them that he is a drug addict and that he arranged the murders of political enemies in Arkansas. Despite claims he had no ties to the project, evidence surfaced that Falwell helped bankroll the venture with $200,000 paid to a group called Citizens for Honest Government (CHG). CHG’s Pat Matrisciana later admitted that Falwell and he staged an infomercial interview promoting the video in which a silhouetted reporter said his life was in danger for investigating Clinton. (Matrisciana himself posed as the reporter.) “That was Jerry’s idea to do that,” Matrisciana recalled. “He thought that would be dramatic.”
November 1997: Falwell accepts $3.5 million from a front group representing controversial Korean evangelist Sun Myung Moon to ease Liberty University’s financial woes. The donation, and several Falwell appearances at Moon conferences, raised eyebrows because Moon claims to be the messiah sent to complete the failed mission of Jesus Christ, a doctrine sharply at odds with Falwell’s fundamentalist Christian theology. (In 1978, before the Moon money started flowing, Falwell told Esquire magazine, “Reverend Sun Myung Moon is like the plague: he exploits boys and girls, and he should be exported.”)
Respect must be earned. His behavior did not deserve it.

Have some respect for Falwell.
The man was a street fighter, a politico. He never minced words. I see no point, I see no reason to imagine that it somehow respects the man’s memory, not to note what an SOB he could be.
If there is an afterlife (and I want to believe that there is, and no, contrary to my snarky earlier comment, I do not believe there is a Hell because I don’t think God is a jerk) he’s getting to know the souls of men and women he thought were inferior to him. And that’s where he’ll find, finally, the enlightenment that eluded him in this world.
Happy now?
