Julia Ward Howe’s accomplishments did not end with the writing of her famous poem, “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.”

Mother’s Day Proclamation - 1870 by Julia Ward Howe

Arise then…women of this day! Arise, all women who have hearts! Whether your baptism be of water or of tears! Say firmly: “We will not have questions answered by irrelevant agencies, Our husbands will not come to us, reeking with carnage, For caresses and applause. Our sons shall not be taken from us to unlearn All that we have been able to teach them of charity, mercy and patience. We, the women of one country, Will be too tender of those of another country To allow our sons to be trained to injure theirs.”

From the voice of a devastated Earth a voice goes up with Our own. It says: “Disarm! Disarm! The sword of murder is not the balance of justice.” Blood does not wipe our dishonor, Nor violence indicate possession. As men have often forsaken the plough and the anvil At the summons of war, Let women now leave all that may be left of home For a great and earnest day of counsel. Let them meet first, as women, to bewail and commemorate the dead. Let them solemnly take counsel with each other as to the means Whereby the great human family can live in peace… Each bearing after his own time the sacred impress, not of Caesar, But of God - In the name of womanhood and humanity, I earnestly ask That a general congress of women without limit of nationality, May be appointed and held at someplace deemed most convenient And the earliest period consistent with its objects, To promote the alliance of the different nationalities, The amicable settlement of international questions, The great and general interests of peace.

It doesn’t matter if the future of the country is on the line, if our national security is in danger, no, all the sniveling Coward cartoonist^^ can think of is politics.

McCain: “I would rather lose an election than a war.”

And here I thought that was simple enough for even idiots to understand.

I guess not^^, huh?

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ®.

Um, vindication:

{{{The manufacturer of the potent painkiller OxyContin and three current and former executives at the company pleaded guilty Thursday to falsely marketing the drug in a way that played down its addictive properties and caused scores of people to become addicted, prosecutors said. The Purdue Frederick Co. and its chief executive, top lawyer and former medical chief agreed to pay a total of $635 million to resolve charges filed by the U.S. attorney in the Western District of Virginia, who called OxyContin “one of our nation’s greatest prescription-drug failures.”-Urinal}}}

Guess who’s name the sniveling Coward liberals are being real quite about. Not even a mention in their candy as-s article^^.

Limbaugh.

Gosh, I wonder why?

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ®.

{{{Mr. Sarkozy also did something with Ms. Royal that might be usefully remembered by Mrs. Clinton’s foes. Ms. Royal, when the unexpected happened—“Calm down!”—showed she wasn’t so good at improvising. She didn’t react with any tactical grace. This reminded me of Mrs. Clinton, who also seems unsure and unsteady when pushed off script or put at the mercy of happenstance. She can’t rely on her instincts, because deep down she knows her instincts are no match for her will. She’s not light on her feet. Her foes would do well to keep this in mind.}}}

This is how Hillary will exit stage left, maybe before the end of the year. Right now she hides behind the wall of propaganda from the pinko media but eventually she will have to answer questions or face a debate. That is when her true simplistic, animal like ignorance will be fully displayed and all the rest of you people will be repulsed by this pig like I am.

She really sucks.

{{{The alternative rag is the L.A. Times. They slant the news so far to the left, the words almost slide off the page. A person could easily jump to the conclusion that the entire editorial board cut their teeth on Pravda and the Daily Worker. Instead of parroting the party line for Joseph Stalin, they now carry the water for the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.}}}

Gosh, this sounds so familiar.

I wonder who I’m thinking of?

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ®.

{{{But Republican committee members largely supported Mr Gonzales and called for an end to the investigation, easing pressure on one of President George W. Bush’s closest political allies. “The list of accusations has mushroomed, but the evidence has not,” said Lamar Smith, the senior Republican committee member. “If there are no fish in this lake, we should reel in our lines of questions, dock our empty boat and turn to more pressing issues.”}}}

Gee, a fishing expedition?

Witch hunt?

Show trial?

No work getting done in Congress?

You’re gonna hate 08®.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ®.

Gosh, I thought the Republicans were running from Bush:

{{{The measure that was defeated was a bill sponsored by Rep. Jim McGovern, D-Mass., a member of the “Out of Iraq” caucus of progressive Democrats. The bill called for pulling out U.S. troops within 90 days and completing the withdrawal within six months. The measure failed by a heavily partisan vote of 255-171.” And I’m telling you that where the rubber meets the road, right now here in Washington, Republicans are united, Democrats are divided. Period.” Snow said. “If you want disunity, there’s far more disunity on the Democratic side.”}}}

No normal person wants to be known forever as a sniveling Coward.

I don’t believe that standing behind the plough and anvil is always the right decision.Sometimes it becomes necessary to beat ones ploughshares in swords and go forth to defend ones way of life.Unless of course, one doesn’t find ones way of life worth defending. As always there are those that will stand aside and permit others defend the freedoms they so desperately enjoy. My mother wouldn’t have stood aside, nor did her sons.

Well I see you’re happy couple have evolved into Republicans ml. Good deal! We’ve always known it was a “real war”, the liberals are at war with America.

Oh noooooo, he didn’t, did he? Why yes…I think he did.

(((Democrats hoping to win control of the White House in 2008 must seize the “golden opportunity” presented by failures in the war in Iraq and rethink their approach to national security, according to a security analyst and former staffer for Vice President Al Gore.)))

(((If Bush’s “surge” strategy works in restoring order to Iraq, Franc said, “it’s almost in a political sense a bottomless pit for the Democratic Party because they’ve staked so much of their political future on things failing in Iraq.”)))

(((Franc also argued that embracing a more hawkish position on national security and the spreading of freedom would alienate “a very loud wing” of the Democratic Party, referring to the segment of the party represented by people like Moore, Sheehan, and the activists behind MoveOn.org.)))

O.K., so let us analyze this. The Democrats are stuck somewhere between Iraq and that bunch of liberal “Rocks” or “Rawks” in the Midori vernacular.

This is how CNN puts it online:

While Democrat leaders are working to “retain the backing of anti-war members”, Republicans have publicly stepped up the pressure on the president for progress in Iraq.

Democrats are pushing to “retain” backing (gain votes) and Republicans are pushing for “progress” in Iraq.

I’m really not that much into polls, but Democrats sure are. In a poll run on Monday, AP-Ipsos found that “Congress’ approval is the same as Bush’s”.

Somebody pinch me.

GOP wake-up call indeed, Lucko… the Repugs standing on the sidelines, cheerleading for their failed party and ideology, are destined to go down in ‘08. Even their candidates at the Repug debate were lamenting the train-wreck that the Party has become, and it’s a tragedy for America.

It will be interesting to see how the Repug platform will change in the future in order to be viable again in America.

Mrs. Godzilla,

Thank you for mentioning Julia Ward Howe and her patriotic anthem, “The Battle Hymn of the Republic”.

This is my favorite stanza:

In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea, With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me: As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free, While God is marching on.

Factoid: The Battle Hymn of the Republic is the unofficial anthem of the Republican Party.

I once asked Goldie if Julia Ward Howe was a “warmonger”, but I received no response.

By Hey, Moron

May 11, 2007 9:24 AM | Link to this

Luck,

Anyone with a brain knows that Congressional approval polls are, at a minimum, deceptive. First, everyone recognizes that if the question were asked: Do you approve of YOUR congressman? Then the results will be much much higher. On average it would likely be double the president’s. Second, if you asked Democrats to assess the performance of the Democratic majority then the numbers would be much higher. The same would be the case if you asked Republicans about the minority and very low numbers would be had if members of one party were asked to rate the other party’s performance. All of this being said, you, the pollsters and no one else really knows what that approval number means. Is it democrats and independents frustrated that Congrees won’t just cut off funding for the war? Is it democrats upset because the repubs won’t join in a bitartisan solution? Are republicans disapproving across the board because the other party is in charge? You just don’t know. What we do know is that if the voters are asked “who do you trust on the war, the president or congress?”, the numbers strongly favor congress. Almost 2 to 1.

The point is that the idiot you support is at a ridiculously low approval rating and has been for almost a full year, his own party is about to throw him off the ship, he will be judged as the worst president of all-time, he may end up prosecuted, and all you can say is that maybe someone else is almost as bad as the president, whom you support like a 4 year old defending his daddy. It is weak, pathetic and frankly ignorant.

Great Toon!!!

Sad that Republican support for the war in Iraq is only tied to its use as a political weapon to help win elections…

It worked in 2002 and 2004 but unraveled in 2006.

In 2008, many more Republican seats are up for election than Dem seats and that is not good for the GOP. In other words…the Congress will stay in Dem control. Count on it…

AND, the GOP’s best chance to retain the Presidency is pro-choice, pro-gun control, pro-gay marriage and thrice married.

Ok Dusty — So Now you have sympathy for Cindy Sheehan, the Tilmans, etc?

Dusty - If you look at the Cartoon carefully you will note that “Republican Party” is listed amongst the dead of Iraq on the memorial wall. I am pretty sure that ML was saying the “Republican Party” is just another casualty of this war.

Now I ask you since you claim to be so patriotic..

What’s the difference between the deaths of 3000+ Americans in a single terrorist strike (9-11), -=versus=- the death of 3000+ Americans killed over a series of terrorist strikes (Iraq).

To me every terrorist strike in Iraq against our soldiers STILL IS a terrorist attack on the USA.

The only real difference between you and me in fighting terrorism - is you support these continuous terroristic acts by putting our soldiers in harms way and wasting national resources for no good reason other than to nation build in someone else’s country, and I support bringing our troops home and strengthening our national defenses against future attacks and other problems that affect OUR country!.

I agreed 100% with going into Afghanistan and going after Bin A’hole-laden - but not this “wag the dog” war we have “created” in Iraq.

Personally I would be happy if we pulled the troops out of Iraq, let them get rested then re-deployed them in Afghanistan, but sadly that’s not even tactically feasable as the long ocupation there has decayed our mission of success. The Taliban have re-established their clout and have many sympathizers now. Our long term stay there will be about as successful as Russia’s occupation of Afghanistan.

Iraq (and the middle-east in general) has a far different culture than us. Their concepts of freedom are no where near the same as ours. Occupation of any of their lands is definitly not considered freedom, nor is setting up a government designed by the laws of Christianity going to fit in with their culture. The Iraq you see today will be back to tribal warlords and rulers within 10 years no matter what.

Some great world we have created —

But at least Dusty I will give you credit on one thing - you and @@ do reason out things more than your fellow GOP bloggers.. And can at least debate the issues once in a while.

Cheers -

Seriously, you must have never met a drug addict before - and many drug addicts aren’t scary people who live under bridges and walk around mumbling to themselves.

Rush is a drug addict and took Oxycotin because those make you feel REALLY GOOD!!!!! Doctors know the possible addictive consequences of those types of drugs, that’s why most responsible doctors are very careful when they prescribe them…it’s the drug addicts that do anything to get them.

TA, I don’t know, I’m not a doctor. Chances are though, your friends are addicts, and believe me, I don’t mean that as an insult. I’ve had close friends and close family members ruin their lives with drugs. Pain killers are a very powerful drug, and I’m not going to pretend that I know the chemistry behind it. But it would make sense that they would require higher doses as their bodies get used to it. Alcoholics need more and more alcohol to get drunk, drug addicts need more drugs to get high or kill pain…it’s the same thing.

Believe me, I’m not making fun of your friends, but I’ve heard many people who are addicted to one thing or another…cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, etc. blame everything and everybody but themselves, and that is the real issue at hand.

And we have laws against selling drugs, pushing drugs, using drugs, importing drugs. … And so if people are violating the law by doing drugs, they ought to be accused and they ought to be convicted and they ought to be sent up,” - Rush Limbaugh

I understand he also has three failed marriages…Does he ever rail about moral deficiencies and the sanctity of marriage?

Oh, and I heard that at one point in his life he had to collect unemployment…Does he sympathize with others that have required gov’t assistance?

He’s a great entertainer, but if I were a ‘conservative,’ I am not sure I would want this guy speaking for me.

By ABS

May 11, 2007 12:23 PM | Link to this

I guess my point of all that is that someone may be a drug addict, but it doesn’t make them a bad person…they may eventually do bad things to get the drugs, but in my opinion, they are not automatically bad people. I have know alot of “addicts” in my life. Some do okay, others don’t, but just because they are an addict, doesn’t make them bad — it just means they are sick and need some help.

I wouldn’t make fun of anyone with cancer, diabetes, or any other type of disease, and many people who don’t understand addiction think you can just get over it, but that is just really not true.

The Bush administration, Republican Party, and some in the Democratic Party leadership are mounting an all out assaut upon the American people, by promoting a luncy immigration of illegals into the United States.

The main-stream media are not it seems investigating or even care about the extreme impact and damage that ilegal immigration is perpetrating upon the citizens of the United States. Why doesn’t the people of our government and the media bring up the important questions and find some answers on the issue of illegal imigration?

For an examble: Who is the responsibe party for our nation to be over run by illegal immigration? And why and for what reason are the one respondible for enforcing our laws and the U.S. Constitution not being brought our into the sunshine and held accountable for allowing the laws of this land of the free under law left unchecked and at times even praised for turning their head and looking away , while our nation is being flooded with illegal immigrants that the government or the people know so little about? Are we as a nation allowing ourselves be taken over from within?

The Main-Stream media seems to be turning a blind eye to all of this, and are muddling and down-playing these issues just as they did about the war in Iraq. The Federal government of the United States imposes a progressive tax on the taxable income of individuals, corporations, trusts, estates, and certain bankruptcy estates. The first Federal income tax was imposed under Article 1, section 8, clause 1 of the United States Constitution, during the civil war, then again in the 1890s, and then again after the sixteenth admendment was ratified in 1913. (althrough there is doubt about its every being ratified). Current income taxes are imposed under these Constitution provisions and varous sections of subtitle A of the Internal Revenue code of 1986, as amended , including 26 U.S.C. ( imposing income tax on the taxable income of individuals, estates and trust) and 26 U.S.C. 11 (imposing income tax on Corporations). This in my opinion is contrary and in violation of the United States Constitution, (ninth Amendment), thus it is an infringement on that right, income taxation offers the Federal government a technique to radically diminish the power of the states, because the Federal government is then able to distribute funding to states with conditions attached, often giving states no choice but to submit to Federal demands. There is an alternative way of taxation which is called: “ Fair Tax” a legislation pending now for some time before the U.S. Congress which would repeal the Income Tax in favor of a national sales tax with a rebate that would untax purchases up to the poverty level. First, this bill would have to be passed and become law, and there would have to be a repeal of the Sixteenth Amendment. There is far a long time now been an argument over the fact that the Sixteenth Amendment was every properly ratified? Maybe this question could be settled by the passing of this purposed Fair Tax Bill now pending in the United States Congress. The Fair Tax legislation if it were to become law would apply equally to all citizens. There would be a rebate given to all household to replace the tax on all new goods and services up to the proverty level, based upon the number of persons in the household. This way everyone gets a pre-rebate which is fair, low income families pay nothing, the middle class pays less than they do now under the current system. The rich over 70K annually pay the same as they pay now. The extremely wealthy who pay barely anything now would have to cough up a lot, lot more than they every have in the past. In my opinion, the whole system within our government is being controlled by greedy elite and powerful individuals and corporations among others, who are systematically exploiting and causing great harm to the American people. These elite and powerful are getting their perks and kickbacks from the ones that put them in office and that are keeping them there to the extent reminiscent of the nazi Gestapo. Americans who are disabled and on Social Security are not actually considered disabled by this government and are expected to payback loans and other bills, some with very high interest and penalty rates that keep adding up while the person is unemployed; thereby turning simple loans and other debts with high fees and other late charges etc. into a nightmare debt no one who is disabled can afford to pay back. Many of these loans and debts triple from their original amount. When will there ever be action or at least and investigation concerning these matters? When are the Courts of this land going to rein in these Federal agencies and elite, rich, and corrupt individuals and corporation among others that today are seen as “above the law”, out of control and filled with corruption. These matters should have already been brought out by the news media and others, but it seems the media and politicians of today are all in bed with these elite, rich and corrupt individuals and corporations, while our government gives billions of dollars in aid around the world to many questionable groups and activies. That aslo wage an unjust war in Iraq costing the American citizens billions and billions of taxpayers dollars that could instead be going to the millions of suffering American people. The American people despite the exploits of the government and the elite, rich, and corrupt individuals and corporations among others are somehow surviving, but it requires both spouses working to put food on the table at the detriment of their children. William - The sixteenth amendment was most certainly and legally ratified. Income taxes in and of themselves are not a bad idea. However, the flaw in that amendment is that it is opened ended and allows any amount of income up to 100% to be taken. The remedy is to constitutionally limit the percentage of tax which can be extracted from individuals and corporations. Double taxation of corporate incomes and dividends paid to individuals must also end. We should have a constitutional top limit of 33.3%. End of story.

U.S. farmers’ decision to plant “corn in place of other crops to cash in on the ethanol craze” will cost the average American because it will cause the price of other crops to increase. This Congress it seems are watering down a proposed bill that would tighten fuel economy standards, and went as far as to say some changes in the 1978 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act that was proposed by the Bush administration makes sense and would refrain from any adverse reaction. Ethanol is an alcohol made from corn, sugar cane, or other plant matter. Ethanol is one method among many others of powering an engine that does not envolve a distilled petroleum product. The growing concerns about the effects of pollution from vehicle exhaust and the Greenhouse effect have greatly increased the interest in ethanol as an alternative fuel. The protroleum industries are vehemently against any source of alternative fuel such as ethanol. But, as many people that are in favor of ethanol far out number the few in the petroleum industries who are strongly against it because oil and gas is that industries life line. But, ethanol would be one alternative fuel that could and would be a reliable way of easying the U.S. dependence on foreign oil and gas supplies.

Ethanol is generally made in the U.S. from corn and denatured, or mix with gasoline during the winter or in cold climates, ethanol is sold in a 75% mixture with 15% gasoline. During warmer seasons and in warm climates, the ethanol used is 85% ethanol with 15% gasoline, and is generally marketed as “ E-85”. There are many good reasons to develop and use ethanol, among which are reduced on petroleum products, reduced dependence on global supplies, and the reduction of greenhouse emissions, to name a few. To develop and refine ethanol is one thing, but the ability to distribute it and adapt it for use to a specific vehicle or application is an entirely different challenge altogether, so says the “petroleum industries” who are mostly owned and operated by the elite rich and powerful

greedy corporations with the help of these despot Republicans as well as this current administration headed by the “Decider” George Bush.

The adage of supply and demand of course will continually drive the development of ethanol and other alternative fuels, but the oil and gas industry are doing everything in their power , to delay, postpone, cause problems and the like to stop or at least slow up the progress alread

Feb. 16, 2007 WASHINGTON — Rep. Don Young on Thursday added his voice to the speechifying about President Bush’s Iraq policy and bolstered it with what he thought was the voice of President Abraham Lincoln.

The man who Young quoted, though, was not the nation’s 16th president but a professor at a Washington, D.C., graduate school.

“I’d like to make a quote,” Young began after being granted his five minutes on the House floor. “‘Congressmen who willfully take actions during wartime that damage morale and undermine the military are saboteurs and should be arrested, exiled or hanged.’”

The quote, Young said, came from Lincoln, “who had the same problem this president had with a very unpopular war, the same problem with people trying to redirect the commander-in-chief.”

However, the words Young attributed to Lincoln were written by J. Michael Waller, a professor at the Institute of World Politics. They metamorphosed into the illegitimate Lincoln quote on Dec. 23, 2003, in a column that Waller wrote for Insight, a conservative weekly magazine published by the owners of the Washington Times. In my humble opinion, The Republican Party with people like George Bush are in the process of attemping to establish a Despotism or Oligarchy type of government. This calamity begin in the 1980’s with the election of Ronald Reagan to the Presidency of the United States, and was continued by the election of George Bush Sr., and the elites , rich and powerful within the Republican Party. Their efforts were slowed to some degree by the election of a Democrat William Jefferson Clinton to the President, who brought about the strongest economy this world has ever known. President Clinton greatly improved the lives of nearly all the American people. President Clinton was daily ridicule and demeaned by the Republicans who had control and was in the majority while President Clinton was in office. The Republicans refused to lend a hand at anything Clinton was promoting, and demagoged him throughout his Presidency. But notwithstanding the Republicans, President Clinton for eight tears took the United States to it’s highest plateau of excellence the world has every known.

Then the calamity resumed with the illegal election of George Bush the “Decider”. The “decider” was not elected to become President, but was illegally appointed by the Republican majority in the United States Supreme Court. Since this appointment of George Bush to the Presidency America’s prestige and standing in the world has drastically and seriously been eroded to the point that the United States has little standing in the world, and is currently bogged down in the country of Iraq where there is an on going civil war between the Shintes and Sunnis people with no end to this war in sight. And at the same time are waging a war in the country of Afghanistan fighting a group of people that are a part of a group of terrorist who bombed the World Trade Center in New York, N.Y. on 9/11. George Bush the “Decider” took us to war under false pretenses. He took us to war with the blessings of the U.S. Congress by turning over the powers of Congress to declare war to the “Decider” which at the time was ruled by a majority of Republicans. The “Decider” and the “Vice Decider” as well as all the Congress controlled by the Republicans took the U.S. to war with Iraq because of weapons of mass destruction, and that our national security was at risk. All this has been proven to be nothing more than a pack of lies and distortions. The “Decider’s” and the “Vice-Decider” poor plannin

Yes, I am patriotic. Aren’t you?

In answer to your question: I sympathize with any family that has lost a child in conflict. That includes the Tillmans and Sheehans. I just disagree with the paths they took with their grief.

As to terrorists, take 9/11. There they killed innocents. In Iraq, terrorists kill our military who are fighting for our way of life.

I believe the President is correct in his view of the future. Terrorists would love to fight us on American streets. They are having to fight us in Iraq.

Saddam had terroristic ways and we were told by our Intelligence service that he had WMDs. The British agreed. Congress approved. We fight in Iraq.

Surely you know that war is not easy. Even ol’ Sherman noted that it was hell. We fight to win this war and we are making sacrifices to do it.

As to Afghanistan, I guess you know that there are almost 31,000 NATO troops there stabilizing that country. 25,000 are Americans.

We are now fighting terrorists where they are, Iraq and Afghanistan. NOT ON AMERICAN HOMELAND.

I hope that your support of American troops is evident. Otherwise you are destroying the morale of the troops and the country.

This government it seems in the area of education, the Department of Education should change its logo to state its real business: “ helping to break up American families and keep our kids in debt”.

The American people despite the exploits of the government and the elite, rich, and corrupt individuals and corporations among others are somehow surviving, but it requires both spouses working to put food on the table at the detriment of their children. There are now three jobs in the American family, two carreers plus parenting. You could say that family life is beginning to initate the downsizing of the American family office. This means parents and their children live apart most of the time. Most children almost never see their parents together. When they are t

Let’s see what Bernard Lewis, the preeminent scholar on the Middle East has to say about :

{{{We are now experiencing a third attempt to bring Islam to Europe,” Lewis pointed out. Unlike the previous attempts that were primarily military in nature, the current Muslim push is through migration and demography. Freedom of expression, economic opportunities and moderate climates encouraged Muslim migration to Western Europe. The contrast between the high birthrates of Arab-Muslims in Europe and the negative rates of native Europeans, who marry late and have fewer children, may finally provide Islam with the chance to Islamize Europe.}}}

Since were oceans away, that can’t happen here in the US can it?/SARC.

AND…

Turning to Iraq, Lewis suggests a number of views - one reflected in the media, which is of a “continuing disaster,” and another which comes to Lewis from his personal friends in Iraq who “report positive developments.” A third view, Lewis claims, is that “most of Iraq is functioning rather well.” As he ended his prepared remarks, Lewis surprised everyone by expressing “cautious optimism” regarding Iraq. >>>> Lewis credited President Bush for being “tough and consistent” in Iraq and ridiculed the attitudes of congressional Democrats who oppose the Iraq war and who are saying: “Unless we win the war by next Tuesday, we are done.”<<<<<

Dusty,

We are doing quite a bit more than “fighting them over there.” What we are asking our troops to do is create peace in a troubled land while being targeted by terrorists. That is an altogether different matter and it isn’t in our long or short term interest to do so.

We are doing nothing more than falling into the same trap that theSoviets did in Afghanistan when their economy and military (more limited in capacity than our own) died a very slow death. People say Reagan, SDI etc… stopped the cold war. The reality is that the Soviets got trapped in an unwinnable conflict at the cost of losing the entire nation. We should take lessons from history.

While there may be temptation to use “bumper sticker” logic the fact is that this is a much more complicated issue than just “fighting them over there.”

In my opinion, a lying and incompetent Attorney General Alberto Gonzales along with the Congress, and the President of the United States has lost the confidence of the American people. This is the most partisan administration every. It is about time that Congress get subpoenas for the various advisors and others to testify under oath and in public about a host of crimes, distortions, misgivings, lies, and down right dishonesty. Although the partisan Attorney General Alberto Gonzales would have to approve any subpoenas refused by any of the President’s people. This Congress who had a mandate to change the course of the American government, but are doing just as bad as the Republican-led 109 Congress. All this Democratic controlled Congress it seems wants to do is rip, rage, and bray endlessly without any affect on the course of our government. There seems to be no sense of propose in Washington D.C. these days. The Trade policies of this President are costing the American people millions of jobs, and billions in trade debt, while the American youth are falling further and further behind in their education. This Congress is not doing nothing but engaging in partisan cheap and disgusting political scams and nonsense. There is not one person in Congress it seems, that has the gall to stand up for the American people. This President and Congress are held in very low esteem by the American people. Things are looking grim around Washington D.C. these days. I personally can’t wait till November 2008 election, maybe the American people will show both Republican and Democrat parties the door and sent them back home, where maybe, they can then begin to compete with the illegal immigrants and other cheap labor, and let the powerful and corrupt corporations and the elite rich and powerful take them for a ride like they are doing to the American people today. The Democrats could if they had the guts, impeach Bush, and end this mindless and luncy of illegal immigration and the squandering of American jobs and assets and bring this senseless and horrible war in Iraq to and end. The Grand ole Party as the Republicans like to call it field of candidates are united on Iraq war, but divided on social issues. The contenders are completing for the so-called gipper mantle ever what that is? The Republican field is supposely so incomplete the GOP wants its safe House seats back. Well just to throw in a line on the brighter side of things former President Clinton has joined in on an efforts to deauthorize’ Iraq war. But, now turning back to the dark side, Bush the “Decider” wants phone firms immune to privacy suits. He is urging Congress to pass a law that would halt dozens of law suits charging phone companies with invading ordinary citizens privacy through a post-sept. 11 warrantless surveillance programs. What a draconian dream Bush is living cuddled up in the White House illegally. Bush and the despot Republicans are bullying and performing their evil deeds it seems un-checked by the Courts or Congress. He, Bush is very much out of touch with the American people. The “Decider” is now on a round up of those citizens that rat on criminals and law breakers. Yes, I believe that the 43 President is even more out of touch than the 41st President and thats a lot of out of touch. Bush needs to stop this nonsense of invading Americans private lives. I do not think it is ok to steal money or someones privacy just because a despot government tells you, you can. The phone companies who are or have broken the law should pay till it hurts them very badly.

National security is to the state what the sacred is to the church, a place to hide your evil and meanness. I believe instead of ruining our system of government like the Republicans and this administration are seeking to demolish our Bill of Rights and the American way of life. I believe that anyone including the phone companies should have to pay and restore the damages they have cost the American people till it hurts as a warning to others to be more courageous in opposing tyranny and evil in the future. How about for starters, obtaining the subpoenas for the White House phone records to check and see how many times the “decider” has called his buddies in Saudi Araba, where by the way this is where the 9/11 hi-jackers were from. Let us all Americans let freedom ring and give the White House records a listen to and find out just what this evil empire of George Bush has been doing since he was appointed President illegally and was not legally ever elected to be the Preside

Ayaan Hirsi Ali is arguably the bravest and most remarkable woman of our times.//To understand why this 37-year-old woman is extraordinary, she must be assessed in the context of the forces pitted against her in her twin struggles to force the Western world to take note of Islam’s divinely ordained enslavement of women, and to force the Islamic world to account for it.

Like this:

{{A series of incidents this week placed the forces she battles in stark relief. Sunday Muslims shot up the Omariyah elementary school in Gaza. One man was killed and six were wounded in the onslaught. The murderers attacked because the UN-run school in Rafah had organized a sports day for the children, in which little boys would be playing with little girls. The idea that that boys and girls might play sports together was too much for the righteous believers. It was an insult to Islam, they said. And so they decided to kill the little boys and girls.}}}

Conservative misinformation is being portrayed by some in the science and news media to be the truth and nothing but the truth. While it is a known fact that there is a scientific consensus that there has been significant global warming, enough to adversely affect the entire world. To often the media people are advancing false, misleading, and bais claims relating to the global warming crisis. This article is an attempt to subdue and point out the merits and facts concerning global warming. There are far to many myths and falsehoods about global warming which are unsubstantiated claims that human activity is not the cause of global warming. There have been all kind of exaggerating of the facts, such as, carbon dioxide is not bad for the environment or the upper atmosphere. Most of these exaggeration and misleading information are coming mainly from the skeptics in the United States of global warming who have a very close relationship with the President George Bush and the Republican Party who are closely allied with the oil, gas, and coal industries. For an example of just how world-wide this issue has become, there is a new theory on global warming proposed by Vladimir Shaidurov of the Russian Academy of Sciences that purpose the apparent rise in average global temperture recorded by scientists over the last hundred and fifty years or so could be due to atmospheric changes that are not connected to human emissions of carbon dioxide from the burning of natural gas and oil. Shaidurov explained how changes in the amount of ice crystals at high altitudes could damage the layer of thin high altitude clouds found in the mesosphere that reduce the amount of warming solar radiation reaching the earth’s surface. Shaidurov said that the Tungus metorite that struck in Siberia on June, 1908 suggest that this explosion would have caused “considerable stirring of the high layers of atmosphere and change its structure”. Such meteoic disruption was the trigger for the subsequent rise in global temperatures. As such, Shaidurov has concluded that only an enormous natural phenomenon, such as an asteroid or comet impact or airburst, could seriously distrub atmospheric water levels, destroying persistent so-called “silver”, or noctilucent, clouds composed of ice crystals in the high altitudes mesosphere (50 to 85). The Tunguska Event was just such an event, and coincides with the periods of time during which global tempertures appear to have been rising the

The Republican politicians are jumping ship to try to save their own political butts. True Patriots!!!! Well, it’s too late, coz you’ll hate 08. The damage is done. Thousands of American lives. Half a trillion dollars. Etc, etc, etc.

Keep supporting those guys. Their true colors are starting to show.

I thought after the first term nobody in their right mind would put Bush back in office. Just goes to show how blindly some people follow their political affiliation.

The rightwingnuts have nothing left to hold onto other than the Iraq war. Every other issue has been butchered. This war cannot be won. You can’t defeat an enemy in urban warfare that is not afraid to die. Just get out of there and let them continue to kill each other as they have been doing for thousands of years. They don’t want peace.

Our national security is not on the line. Religious zealots killing each other in another country does not constitute a threat to our great nation.

It’s time for the GOP to stop playing the fear card. There are no more chips to win.

Buy Danish,

I know how to stop suicide bombers. Invade their countries, create instability and lawlessness, make sure that he or she has several family members die in bombings or at checkpoints, spot check their homes for weapons or insurgents, preferably at night, substitute our judgement for theirs by telling them how to live or what sort of government they should have, lock people up, abuse them and photograph their family members naked, etc, etc… Then they will know that life is worth living. My guess is that they’d rather stay alive and kill more of us than die after one slaughter, so suicide bombing would drop off significantly. Problem solved, the Bush way.

Another way may be to mind our own damn business, leave those people to themselves and let them know that their terrorists better stay on that side of the ocean or they’ll be some cruise missles and bombers headed that way. If a person from Riyadh knew that the day after his suicide attack on US interests, that there would be little left of Riyadh, my guess is that he might reconsider. If not we send the message anyway. Maybe then their own countryman will deal with them before they get out of hand. If your brother, neighbor, friend etc.. was going to attack another country and the result would be you dying. My guess is that you’d take care of that situation one way or another. I’d also think you’d take care of anyone who was talking them into that kind of stuff too.

Is it just my imagination, or have the liberal “adults” in here been behaving more juvenile than usual?

It looks like most of them have left, but I don’t mind sharing my opinion on IN VITRO FERTILIZATION.

The embryos presently “on ice” most certainly can be utilized for worthwhile cause. Afterall, they’ve already been considered “waste”, why add insult to injury. Stem cell transplant? Fine, but only with the 450,000 already sacrificed. Childless couples? Fine, but only within the number set aside already.

I’m not in favor of turning embryos into a marketable commodity.

When you begin to think; it has already turned into a cottage industry of sorts. Men get paid for their sperm. Women have to pay for the sperm. I would be willing to bet that women will soon be selling their eggs if they aren’t already.

Lawyers are making “big bucks” in custody battles over frozen embryos.

All of ^^^ THAT monetary value found in a human life that everybody seems to think has none.

Having seen where abortion began and where it has ended up is of great concern to me. Pushing the envelope…it is what liberals have a tendency to do.

Childless couples? Surrogacy or adoption. What a great way to GIVE of yourself.

Abortion should be allowed only IF the life of the mother is threatened by the birth and in cases of rape and incest. NOT as a form of birth control.

Depression is NOT life threatening. They have a pill for that. They have a pill to prevent pregnancy. Other stuff too.

Time for a lttle Pharmacy 101, and why Rush’s abuse of OxyContin was not the result of ignorance by its makers and users, but of the exploitation of a dangerous flaw OxyContin has that Mr. Limbaugh took full adantage of.

OxyContin and hydrocodone are basically the same drugs, painkillers both available only by prescription. They’re commonly given on a short term basis to serious auto accident or industrial acccident victims. They’re various combinations of Tylenol and a morphine derivative, and most doctors take pains (heh!) to wean patients off the the stuff as the patient’s pain decreases.

Here’s the kicker. Oxycodone’s usually taken every 4-5 hours. But OxyContin’s a one-a-day drug because it’s morphine deriative is encased in tiny time release capsules, kind of like Contac cold relief pills. It didn’t take even dumb addicts to realize that smashing Oxyontin tablets destroyed it’s time release function, so they could get the same morphine punch of up to 24 oxycodone pills with just one hit of a pulverized OxyContin. Rush, who may be many things, but is not dumb, figured this out quickly and used his trusty mortar and pestle (or hammer, if he was desperate) to get that huge rush of morphine he craved. Knowing that his primary physician would not give him what he “needed”, he went doctor shopping, apparently with the help of his Latino maid (and others?), so he could get all the OxyContin he craved.

This fairy tale of Rush unwittingly stumbling into his Hillbily heroin habit is a bunch of crap. He knew EXACTLY what he was doing when he was crushing and ingesting , and only the intervention of expensive lawyers kept him from the Federal Hilton.

Rush is a liar, an addict (hopefuly a recovering one) and his fans who believe his tear-jerking tale of unwittingly sliding into addiction have the brains of a box of sheep dung. Like so many addicts (even recovering ones), Rush can’t tell the truth.

This late breaking story just in. Rush’s favorite retreat in the Dominican Reupblic, as reported by several sources:

http://www.cat69.com/

I guess I should look on the bright side. At least he’s not alienating his male listeners by visiting one of those “all boys” hideaways and he stays away fro children.

{{{By bonnie scott May 11, 2007 6:41 Time for a lttle Pharmacy 101, and why Rush’s abuse of OxyContin was not the result of ignorance by its makers and users, but of the exploitation of a dangerous flaw OxyContin has that Mr. Limbaugh took full adantage of.}}}

If there ever was an expert on how to get fvcked up, no one can approach the vast knowledge and experience of finchie.

But-

1) So why did the makers of Oxycontin get assessed damages of 743 Mil for wrongfully addicting users, such as Rush, who you take great liberties in explaining the life of someone you don’t even know, as usual.

2) If Rush is a “pill smashing addict” and makes one hundred times more sense than you do, what is your problem?

You dumba-ss liberals got caught in another lie and are scrambling all around like little perverted hermit crabs trying to get your heads out of your as-ses.

Rush wins.

You lose, again.

May as well get used to it.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ®.

LuckoScum & Hogman Danish, will it be another intellectual NASCAR weekend for you hillbillies, watching other hillbillies drive around in a circle a few hundred times?

POD!

PPP-pp-….

I’m definately going to have to drink more beer before I start blogging.

I went all an all grapefruit diet. Now, everytime I take a leak, i squirt myself in the eye.

Aw, it’s to laugh, folks, cause without laughter, then we couldn’t smile and without smiles, we couldn’t grin and without grins, then how would Dull’s boyfriend know he’s hitting the right spot?

Wow! I just finished reading today’s blog and I did scroll over the riff raff like the spammer and Walt/Pnac, but I didn’t see a single race baiting comment today. I also didn’t see steve-zero. Coincidence? I think not.

Look at finchie giving us a heads up on addictions. Now most of the time I agree that finch is just your garden variety moron, but he KNOWS addiction. I have it on good authority that he got one of those rehabograms for Christmas. Each month sends him to a new sanitarium with a brand new list of symptoms.

Oh, one last money maker in that cottage industry of human consumption.

The facilities that store the embryos. They make money too. It’s kind of like those “units” where you store your worldly possessions…you know…furniture, appliances, keepsakes.

Yup! The frozen embryo business is alive and well. Thriving you might say. Wouldn’t exist without inventory though would it.

That’s “one” business I’d like to see go “belly up”.

I’m done.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!!!
