Cartoon Boy is scared of Alberto Gonzales?
Geez.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ®.
{{{With the victory last year of Angela Merkel, the pro-U.S. leader of Germany, and the impending changeover in power in Britain from pro-American Tony Blair to equally pro-American Labor leader Gordon Brown, there is also at least a chance that Europe will begin to address its problems straight on and avoid needless scapegoating of the U.S. With Mr. Sarkozy’s victory, France’s government looks like it will finally have some energetic adult supervision.}}}
All that blowhard lib nonsense about the World not loving the United States; it’s come full circle. They’ve all changed their governments from whiners to wingnuts.
It’s a new world, America.
You’re gonna hate 08®.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ®.
{{{In a new video Ayman al-Zawahiri, the al-Queda second in command, ridicules the Harry Reid Democrats’ surrender date legislation. The Democrats, comprehensively ignorant about the war and careless about the consequences of defeat in Iraq, are trying to do something no Congress has done before: impose a legislative requirement for America to lose a war.}}}
How do you like that, you go out of your way to provide aid and comfort to the enemy of America and they laugh at you.
You’re gonna hate 08®.

{{{On balance, I was encouraged, both by our soldiers, who are the best in the world, and by the Iraqi people I met, many of whom desperately long for freedom and safety, but know that they need our help at least in the near term. There are two real obstacles to this success, as seen both by myself and by the troops with whom I was privileged to speak. The first is the American and Iraqi governments, which must work within themselves and with each other to provide a positive, unified front, giving the troops what they need to accomplish the mission, and not giving the enemy the tools and propaganda to continue its fight against a far greater power. The second obstacle to success is the Iraqi people as a whole. “It’s easy to live as a coward,” one noncommissioned officer told me. “What has to happen here is that the Iraqi people have to take a chance, risk their lives, and stand up against al Qaeda and everybody else. Once they decide that they want freedom and peace, and want to work with us, then it will all be over.”}}}
Just in case you missed it the first time.
{{{The first is the American and Iraqi governments, which must work within themselves and with each other to provide a positive, unified front, giving the troops what they need to accomplish the mission, and not giving the enemy the tools and propaganda to continue its fight against a far greater power.}}}
A positive unified front, not a bunch of sniveling Cowards searching out someone to surrender to.
You liberals need to either cut off the funding or shut the f up.
{{{Both the soldiers and the Iraqis have spoken loud and clear: the political games must stop. A commitment must be made, either to victory or to withdrawal, and both sides will have to live with the consequences if the wrong choice is made.}}}
It’s time to man up and if you can’t do it, then step aside.

“The making of a terrorist”
A Sussex lad, he loved cricket, football and fish and chips. His grandfather had fought for the British in Italy. The family Koran was rarely opened. So what was it that turned Omar Khyam into a jihadi intent on mass slaughter in his homeland?
Alberto Gonzales???
Well, no -
{{{As with many other British-born Islamic terrorists, Khyam’s conversion from a studious though popular schoolboy to a murderer in the making began at his local mosque, in Langley Green.}}}
{{{The group had planned a host of -atrocities, among them bombs on aircraft and the London underground, mass poisoning of football fans and detonating a radioactive “dirty” bomb that would cause widespread- deaths and contamination.}}}
{{{…Omar Khyam turned his back on his sporting ambitions and academic endeavours: the boy who once had a trial for Crystal Palace Football Club and dreamed of captaining Sussex chose to betray the country that, as Sir Michael Astill pointed out, “gave him every advantage in life”.}}}

Billions of American $$$ spent for reconstruction of Iraq, and still the Iraqis have little to show for it, including lack of veterans’ hospitals:
As the U.S. military prepares for an eventual handover of security duties to Iraqi forces, more of Iraq’s 120,000 soldiers are advancing to the front lines of the war, and more are being wounded. But because there are no Iraqi military hospitals, thousands have been left to the mercy of overtaxed and corrupt civilian hospitals and a military compensation system paralyzed by red tape and disorganization, according to soldiers, family members, doctors and military officials. Many, feeling abandoned, turn to their families for help.

If you want to know just how goofy the liberals are, read this:
{{{Democrats need to back off from this threat. Instead of imposing deadlines, they should demand results. Fortunately, there is an excellent, bipartisan option on the table that does just this — the legislation proposed by Republican Senator Olympia Snowe of Maine. Snowe’s bill would require the military to prepare plans for withdrawing from Iraq in 120 days if certain benchmarks aren’t met. It sends the right message: start winning or get out.}}}

Elizabeth R. to Dubya: “None of your business”
Kristof reports that in 1991, President George H.W. Bush invited Queen Elizabeth to the White House for a state banquet.
Barbara Bush introduced young George to the Queen. George W. told Her Majesty that his new cowboy boots were embroidered with the phrase “God Save the Queen.” Barbara then explained that it was fear of such a remark that caused her to seat young George a safe distance from the Queen.
George then told the Queen that apparently he was the Bush family’s black sheep. “Who’s yours?” he queried. According to Kristof, Queen Elizabeth smiled and retorted, “None of your business.”

@@,
I’m glad that there many of our troops are committed to the mission, whatever that mission may be. As one can imagine there is substantial pressure on a combat soldier to believe that his buddies are dying for a good cause. That he is risking his life for a good cause. That he is away from his family for a good cause. This travesty of a war would be even a more traumatic experience for a soldier who didn’t feel that way.
I have nothing but respect, admiration and compassion for all of those guys over there who are doing nothing but their duty. And I know that most of them will do whatever is asked of them.
Those of us back here also have duties and obligations to the troops. We have an obligaton that we will not send them into harms way without good intel. It is our duty to send them in with the equipment they need to for their protection. It is our duty to make certain that there is a plan in place for success. We have an obligation to make certain that when we send in troops it is for the benefit of the United States of America and not for the liberation of a foreign people’s. It is our obligation not to try out some academic theory that Iraq would be a beacon of democracy for the Middle East with these men’s lives in the balance. It is our obligation to make certain that our soldier’s actions lead to the probablity that less will be asked of them in the future not more. It is our obligation to make certain that our strategy does not weaken our nation and make our enemies stronger.
This President has failed in each of those obligations. To the extent that you do not insist that these obligations be met you also have failed in your obligations to the troops.
In 1975, Joe Frazier was in the battle of his life with Ali. Frazier’s trainer, Eddie Futch, was concerned that Frazier would die or be permantly injured if he answered the 15th round bell and he threw in the towel against the warrior Frazier’s wishes who would rather have died than quit. Frazier never talked to Eddie Futch again, but Eddie did the right thing. So you can send these proud warriors to die senselessly, but somebody has to care enough about them to say: “you’ve done all you can do. Thank you. You’re coming home now.”

Hey Moron:
It was the words and pleading of “The Ranger” in that video that touched my heart, bound my commitment to his.
It is, afterall, his life that’s on the line. I’m just here exercising my freedom to commit myself to his courageous beliefs.
I appreciate your post. Some heartfelt words, that “The Ranger” can dispute.
Were you NOT listening when “The Ranger” said that he can offer success?
YOU declare there is no plan for success.
Were you NOT listening when “The Ranger” said that the Iraqis (foreign people as you call them) are fighting for their own freedom; that Iraqi soldiers are among the finest he has seen; and that they are fighting for a free Iraq along side the Americans and coalition forces?
American interests have become more important than people? Not to “The Ranger” thank goodness.
Were you NOT listening when “The Ranger” said that he will not accept “HIS comrades” deaths as “senseless” when HE knows they were fighting for what they believe in.
YOU just declared HIS comrades deaths as senseless.
You said:
“It is our obligation to make certain that our soldier’s actions lead to the probablity that less will be asked of them in the future not more.”
I think “The Ranger” addressed that when he said:
“I Would Like to Finish My Job”.
It was interesting to watch how little consideration was given to “The Ranger’s” words. A lot of childish liberal rantings. All sitting in front of their computers waging their own little war. A “personal” war against “The Ranger’s” CIC.
What was it “The Ranger” said?
“Please love me as much as I love you.”
“Let Me Finish My Job.”
I think the liberal’s HATRED OF BUSH supercedes any love they could have for you “Ranger”.
That’s the shame of it all.
The rest of the liberal comments through 2:00 don’t deserve the sweat on “The Ranger’s” brow.

You support the troops being asked to police a civil war.
You support the troops doing what Iraqi’s are unwilling to do for themselves.
You support the troops being in harm’s way without a strategy for success.
You support the troops engaging in peace keeping.
You support the troops in engaging in nation building.

You support the death and dismemberment of the troops.
You support the troops getting substandard medical care.
All I know is that the troops would rather not have your so-called ‘support.’
All you support is Bush. You aren’t an American. You are a Bush loyalist who wouldn’t say Bush was wrong about this war if 99.9% of your countryman told you to your face that you were an idiot. Its 72% now and you won’t even give the slightest consideration that the vast majority of your countrymen could be right. @@,
Allow me to define senseless war:
A senseless war is one which was uneccessary to fight in the first place.
A senseless war is one which plays directly into the hands of the enemy.
A senseless war is one which sets up an outcome more uncertain and dangerous than before it was started.
A senseless war is one that threatens to diminish the fear in our enemies that we will or are even capable of military action.
A senseless war is one which puts success not in our soldiers hands but in the hands of Iraqi politicians who may or who may not have our interests in mind.
A senseless war is one which requires us to train troops who will very likely be asked to kill our troops and/or act contrary to our interests in the future.
This is the greatest blunder in American history. We have paid, in blood and treasure, for a terrorist training ground in an Iranian satellite country which will be too weak to remove a strong terror organization.
Congrats. Idiot.
If this war is so important why is Prince Harry going to Iraq while the Bush twins travel the world? In fact there is not one person in Bush’s extended family who has put his or her butt on the line. But you still don’t question. You don’t think. You are exactly what an authoritarian like Bush wants. Unyeilding loyalty no matters the costs or consequences. And let me tell you, just by the name of it, “Hannity’s America” is a place I REFUSE TO live in.

Hi Dusty @ 3:24. I don’t get much of a chance to see you here. You do have a way of “irritating” the liberals.
I enjoy your posts. They possess a “drive for all things positive”, something that I’m afraid doesn’t exist in the “defeated” and dark soul of a liberal. They are the world’s victims and insist on remaining as such. I’m not sure what pleasure they derive from that, but to each his own.
Be not dismayed Dusty. Midori, once in a coherent state of mind, told me that “manure” was AMAZING stuff.
Bird sh!t? I’m convinced it has no value at all. Unless, of course, the nasty stuff appeals to you.

@@,
I am a free trade capitalist. I am not, nor have I ever been, nor will I ever be a Socialist. I am simply one of many, many Americans who are more interested in my country than I am in party politics. I, for example, would vote for Chuck Hagel over Hillary Clinton, if given the opportunity to do so.
I simply believe that the was an ill-conceived war that is having disaterous effects. We have given Al Quaida not only a new haven but a training ground and convienent targets to shoot at. We have given the Iranians comfort in pursuing their nuclear ambitions because they now know that, while we may bomb, there will be no invasion. They also know bombing will simply strengthen the Government’s grip on power. By invading Iraq, we have lost the credibility and diplomatic force necessary to have the world pressure Pakistan into permitting miliitary action to bring Bin Laden to justice.
The bottom line is that we are now weaker both in perception and in fact and our enemies are now stronger both in perception and in fact. It will take many years to overcome these terrible blunders.
9/11 was a call for the US to take the lead in the world both for justice and against terror. We were given the opportunity to have the world follow our lead and a gaping whole in Manhattan to show the world why our mission was so important. We could have put an end to significant international terrorism over the last six years, but instead we have poured gas on the fire. We have isolated ourselves and created emnity against us and thousands more who want to kill us and millions more who are simply indifferent as to whether they do.
Bush will go down as the single worst president in this nation’s history. There is not a close second.

There was a huge aura over America—the United States—that terrified people even before they entered combat. Our brothers who were here in Afghanistan tested them, and together with some of the mujahedeen in Somalia, God granted them victory. America exited dragging its tails in failure, defeat, and ruin, caring for nothing. America left faster than anyone expected. The plot at the Huda Girls’ school in Tarmiya was a “sophisticated and premeditated attempt to inflict massive casualties on our most innocent victims,” military spokesman Maj. Gen. William Caldwell said. The military suspects the plot was the work of al Qaeda, because of its nature and sophistication, Caldwell said in an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.}}}

While anyone can sympathize with the victims or potential victims of evil, it is altogether a different thing to ask our troops to end evil. There is much that happens in the world that shouldn’t. You have forced abortions in China. You have child sex trade in Thailand. You have genocide in Africa. These are all terrible things, but we can’t be asked to fix them.
However, I can’t help but note that Dick Cheney voted against a sense of the Congress bill that said that freeing Mandela might be a good idea. I also remember that the Reagan administration was indifferent about aparthied. What was it Don Regan, Chief of Staff said: “We can’t sanction South Africa. The woman would miss their diamonds.” Anyone who knows about apartheid knows that it was about as evil as anything the world has seen. The right has a long history of inconsistency when confronting evil.

Not a coward, just bored with repetitive liberal rhetoric. It has been done to death, and has taken us nowhere.
Tell me, since radical extremists have taken it upon themselves to wage war against “YOUR” Great Satan for the past 25+ years now; what exactly would you “have” (past tense) proposed we do.
Appeasement didn’t do the trick. Peace treaties didn’t do the trick. They grew and expanded their operation of hatred throughout the world during all those efforts and all that time.
Nobody has EVER forced the Middle East to take a hard look at their own hatred for their own people. They just went along to get along. They are seeing it in all of its’ ugliness now. THEY…neighboring Arab states are being affected by it.
Two major players in the ME want it to continue. The majority of reasonable Muslims want it to end. Their people are dying and misplaced, and their leaders have engaged in efforts to stop it.
I’m sorry, but this conflict was inevitable. It was going to happen here, there and everywhere. 9/11 WAS an opportunity.
I recently read an article written by an aging Muslim writer. He had seen it all from a ruler’s perspective. He has a compelling vision for the Middle East and it looked pretty much like what I’m seeing happening there right now. It was the same one that President Bush had.
Messy? Yes! Impossible? No!
Where do you want us to confront the world’s enemy, or do you want to continue going along to get along.
Now take that word “vision” and bounce it around like a liberal’s toy. Gawd knows I’ve seen it before.

Winning? WTF is winning? When will we be able to leave and know, not guess, but KNOW that Iraq is in democratic, secular hands and that it won’t be changing anythime soon? Never. There is no winning here. Whether we can establish a brief period of peace that leads to a political solution or not, there will still be a play by the Shiites to make Iraq an Islamic state. It is as unavoidable as the sun setting in the west. There will be a war in Iraq for power and money. The only question is how long we stay to referee it, but the battle won’t be over until after we leave. And there is no way we can pick the winner.

Well, Stalk, “BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA” is the single most cogent thing you’ve typed today. And that’s pretty sad.
Midori — totally right. “French conservative” basically means he’s Howard Dean instead of Dennis Kucinich (however you spell his name). Sarkozy has about as much in common with American conservatives as Al Sharpton does with Fred Phelps. After talking to some French exchange students (I quite accidentally stumbled onto a whole enclave of them around here) I think I would have voted for Sarkozy as well. That’s how “conservative” he is.

Moron,
When the clerics get their people to fight back against Al Qaeda then areas of Iraq become stable and prosperous. Once that encompasses all of Iraq we leave that theater of operations showing the Islamic world we mean what we say. That becomes the model.
I’m sorry you think that’s foolish, but frankly coming from a defeatist liberal I would expect no less.
This is not a fight that’s going away by running and hiding from it. That’s been proven over about thirty years of pretending it would stop only to watch each attack against us become bigger and bolder. It won’t be quick and it won’t be easy, but it’s got to be done.
If all you’ve got is name calling I guess there’s no reason to continue this conversation. I thought you might have been showing a tiny glimmer of promise. Alas, you’re just a moonbat armed with nothing but your insults and talking points.

LuckoDull,
The USS Cole was attacked in Oct. of 2000 killing 17 sailors. In the third week of January, on the eve of the inauguration of Bush, the CIA confirmed that Bin Laden was behind the attack. Name one thing that Bush did to avenge our sailors before 9/11. Just one. You can’t and you know why? Because he didn’t lift a damn finger. 9/11 would have been prevented if we had retaliated in the winter, spring or even summer of ‘01, but we didn’t do one thing. And you repugs could care less. You still act like you are so tough. Let me remind you that Reagan tucked tail and ran from Lebanon. Reagan sold weapons to Iran to free hostages from Lebanon. Reagan is the only president to negotiate with terrorists.

You proved my point by not answering any of my questions. Must be pretty intersting when a gnat has a better IQ than you do. We were attacked by Al Queda, but your dumbass doesnt realize that. Instead of confronting them we confront a country that NEVER attacked us. Al Queda didnt exist in Iraq until your hero W somehow allowed them in while we are fighting a war, pretty nifty. Instead of going afer Bin Laden (you do realize he is responsible for Sept 11) we attack someone his cabinet had been chomping at the bit to overthrow. Im going to love 08 by the way because Dumbass W will be long gone and we can really fight the enemy.

Midori, the genius:
{{{Following the two-round legislative elections on June 10 and 17, Sarkozy will convene an extraordinary parliamentary session. One bill would eliminate payroll and income taxes on overtime in a bid to water down the 35-hour week.}}}
A tax cut, yes, very liberal.
{{{At the same time, Sarkozy, 52, is considering creating an enlarged strategic unit dealing with foreign and defense policy in the presidential office modeled on the National Security Council in the White House, opening the decision-making process to a much broader pool of advisers.}}}
More people to call around and see who will accept their surrender, ha!
{{{“We have to show that we don’t act like previous governments,” Fillon said.}}}

RW,
The problem is that you agree that the real power in Iraq is in the clerics hands and not the Government and while the enemy of our enemy can be our short term friend, the reality is that the clerics will want to make Iraq an Islamist state. It may not be friendly to Al Quaida but it will be friendly with Iran and not at all friendly with us. I understand that there are differences between Al Quaida and many Muslims clerics. I also understand that the terrorists are allies of convienence for the Sunnis. Also the Shiites are of a different sect from Al Quaida and Al Quaida has been killing the Shiites, so there is no love lost there. The point though is that the ultimate outcome is still bad for us and we’ve paid a high price to:
1) kick out a secular government that was not a danger to us 2) create an enviroment for Al Quaida to recruit, train and seek refuge 3) set up a Government whose future is uncertain and which very well be more dangerous to US interests long term than the Baathists.
50 years ago we kicked out a democratic but socialist leaning government in Iran only to end up with what we have today 20 years later. We are just doing the same damn thing again but at a much higher price.
We need to keep our noses out of other people’s business and talk quietly while carrying a whole damn bunch of nukes.

America hasn’t been attacked by Al Qaeda in 6 years, whatever pervert excuse you want to make for it, we have been up the terrorist’s as-s the whole time.

Yep the GOP sure knows about fighting terrorists:
John McCain, Mitch McConnell and other GOP senators say it is unprecedented for Congress to dictate troop withdrawal dates to the Commander in Chief, or to limit funding for such operations.
Wrong. Travis Sharp of the Iraq Insider blog discovered that there are in fact nine (9) current GOP senators who voted three times in the 1990’s to slap such limits upon Bill Clinton to end the Somalia and Haiti deployments:
Bennett (R-UT) Bond (R-MO) Cochran (R-MS) Domenici (R-NM) Hutchison (R-TX) Lugar (R-IN) McConnell (R-KY) Specter (R-PA) Warner (R-VA)
Ted Stevens voted not once but twice to cut off funding for the Somalia deployment and the withdrawal of troops by a date certain. John McCain voted to order Clinton out of Haiti.
In 1993, current House Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) voted numerous times to limit the deployment of troops in Somalia, including one bill that set a six-month timeline for the withdrawal of U.S. forces.
Like several other war supporters who once backed timelines, Boehner now attacks those who favor redeploying U.S. troops out of Iraq’s civil war as “defeatists” who want a “date certain for surrender.”
But Boehner has taken this hypocrisy to a new level. Despite clamoring for a withdrawal from Somalia in 1993, he had the temerity to charge yesterday that war critics were “walk[ing] out” on Iraq “just like we did in Somalia.”
There you go Sucko Dull, your GOP for you..

O.K., I lied. THIS will be the last post. Because I have found the liberals quite amusing today, I’m feeling mischievious.
My brother and his friends used to sing a funny song. My brother, a moderate in his social policies, a conservative on national security and fiscal policies, and a libertarian when it comes to freedoms. A great guy.
He, however, has no tolerance for today’s radical left-wing Democrats.
Anyway, I could not remember the words. They just came to me. They’re sung to “Turkey in the Straw”, how apropos.
A song for the “Depressed Among Us”.
Do your balls hang low do they wobble to and fro’? Can you tie them in a knot? Can you tie them in a bow? Can you throw them o’er your shoulder like a Continental soldier Do your balls hang low?

Moron,
They look to their clerics for guidance and approval to stand with us. It’s a pretty bold step when all they hear from American politicians and the press is that we are trying to get out of there as quick as possible, consequences be damned. Think of the clerics as Mayors if you want and I agree that it will be a long and delicate balance. The issue of hearts and minds remains the most important one and the way to get there is unfortunately through the clerics and tribal leaders. It isn’t just Iraq, Iraq is merely a battle in what you could fairly call World War III, IV if you think of the Cold War as III, without nation states in most cases.
I don’t share your defeatism and never will.

{{{President Clinton Thursday ordered 5,300 new combat troops and an aircraft carrier to Somalia “to protect our troops and to complete our mission,” and at the same time he announced that he would bring all American combat forces home by March 31. He said the objective of the new deployment was to give the Somalis a reasonable prospect of survival in conditions of near-anarchy and factional warfare. Regardless of the success of the new mission, he vowed to end the U.S. military presence in Somalia in six months.}}}
That was after “black hawk down.”
Notice the placement of the word “regardless.”
{{{Mr. Clinton’s responsibility in Somalia doesn’t stop there. Despite the mistakes that October day, Aidid had been struck a blow. The U.S. military, with 18 dead, wanted nothing more than to finish what it had started. Mr. Clinton instead aborted the mission. The U.S. released the criminals it had captured that same day at such great cost, and the U.N., lacking U.S. support, was powerless to keep order. Somalia remains a lawless, impoverished nation. Worse, the terrorists of al Qaeda interpreted the U.S. retreat from Somalia as a sign of American weakness that may have convinced them we could be induced to retreat from the Middle East if they took their attacks to the U.S. homeland.}}}
