“My enemies?”

They’re not the enemies of the United States?

Those airplanes that hit the Trade Center were really aimed at Bush?

Huh.

So we could just give him to the Islamic suicide jihadists and everything would be so happy ending Hollywood, eh?

It tells you everything you need to know about a pinko; you will never catch them standing up for America, no, you will always find them in the same “complaint line” as Syria and Iran.

Which is the line that they belong in.

A true liberal, taking the opportunity of an attack on their country to get some of their own whining and bitc-hing in.

How sad they really are.

Oh Andy, put down the crack pipe and join the real world. Dubya’s political enemies are his enemies and not enemies of the United States.

True patriots love the Unites States and what it stands for.

True Patriots hate what Dubya has done to the country and it will take years to get the country back to the great nation it was.

So did George come here to comment on the cartoon or to talk about what I’m doing?

Am I really that much more interesting than the cartoonist?

Let’s take this from the top, one more time, for Georgie Girl’s benefit:

You are the one making this political, idiot, not me or W.

Bush wants to get the formalities of conversation with Iran behind him so that he start bombing them; so that the UN won’t be able to say we didn’t negotiate.

And here’s the Pinko Nation sensing an opportunity to bitc-h and moan so more, the one thing in life they can do on their own, jumping into a place they have no business being.

What do you got lib, did they cut off your hurricane Katrina cash short of the million bucks you were hoping to scam?

We should be getting serious about Islamofascism, before they kill us, and all you pinkos can think about is jacking the government out of some more treasure.

Pis-s off.

You too, Georgie.

Well folks, it appears that our friend RW suffered a meltdown on Friday. First he took my rant literally and called me out to fight like we were in elementary school. Then he or one of his groupies jacked his name and my name in some bizarre attempt to make it seem as if I had done it. The perpetrator even forgot to change RW to Blackadder when responding to Craig. Could that have been by design? I wouldn’t put it past them.

After going back and reading the insanity that took place on Friday and then RW’s accusations that I was responsible, I feel that I no longer have the stomach for this blog and the sophomoric exchange of insults and elementary school discourse. I’ll still come on now and then to share interesting and poignant information that further exposes the right for what they are. A gang of war loving apologists who wrap the flag around themselves (soiling it in the process). Never mind the fact that they sully the flag with their disregard for allowing differing viewpoints. Then they disparage their fellow Americans who don’t agree with them. That isn’t Americanism. That totalitarianism.

It’s been fun at times but I’m going to seek out a more adult forum to engage in. It isn’t likely I’ll read the blustering, dishonest responses from RW and his groupies. Just consider the source and judge it accordingly.

Thanks to all! Blackadder

I do not consider myself an enemy of the President of the United States of America. I do not WANT to be an enemy of the President of the United States of America.Rightful questioning does not an enemy make.

George Bush said we were either with him or against him. Not me. I am not with George Bush. Nor is he with me.

We were mislead into a degenerate war. The amount of truth we have seen from this administration would leave a thimble half empty. Questioning is now required.

Many years ago a priest named Luther questioned the status quo and nailed his many thesis to a church door. The reformation began – and poof we have protestants, Without those questions about indulgences- there would be no Lutherans, Methodists, Episcopalians or Southern Baptists. Most Americans would be giving up meat for the next few weeks.

One of the birth pangs of this nation involved making Boston Harbor into a very large cup of cold salty tea. And in native costume, too boot.

When we ask serious questions about how and why our government behaves the way it does, we are not only exercising the rights we have been blessed with and many have died for – but we are also fulfilling our responsibilities as citizens of the this great nation.

I know that many who post here do not agree with my perspective, but if in your heart of hearts you thought POTUS was not performing up to snuff would you not stand up and say so?

I really hope you would. I don’t want a democratic “chimperor” either.

Does this current government not understand the difference between enemy and critic? We ask because we give a damn. Like with our kids. Where are you going? With who? Doing What? Why? That’s how we know what’s happening.

When “W” walked out to the pitcher’s mound in NYC after 9/11 I stood in my living room and cheered and cried. My whole family did. I was so proud of him. It took guts. It was the right thing to do. AND – I never voted for him.

Don’t ever question my patriotism and expect an invitation to my table. If you can’t respectfully accept what many millions and I believe to be the correct direction for this country to be – TOUGH. We are going to continue to fight the good fight. And we are doing it for your grandkids too.

I like coming here to post. It is one small way to make my voice heard. Whether you listen or not. As the day wears on and the tone here goes from harsh to nasty I worry. Doe

Doesn’t everybody here – partisans all – really care enough about this country to admit that some tough love is required and fast?

Americans were born questioning the authority of a guy named George. They say history repeats itself. Once we agree that change is required all we have left to deal with are some spirited negotiations.

Peace.

Mrs. Godzilla - yes we do care enough to speak out. Some of us disagree. However, I think that comparing an ELECTED official with a dictator is in poor taste and really quite over the top. We also must remember that we rebelled over the issue of unfair or nonexistant representation. We can disagree without being disagreeable. Civil discourse works both ways and both liberals and conservatives on this blog need to learn how to make their points without hurling gratuitous insults at one another like children on the playground.

I like how the crowd is in the shape of a heart. See, we don’t HATE Bush… we just want to lovingly correct his naughty behavior and guide him back to the right path, like parents with a wayward and headstrong child.

Truly, I don’t hate him. I pity him. He throws a tantrum when things don’t go his way, he hides from anyone who disagrees with him, and he tries to get rid of people who don’t tell him what he wants to hear. Basically, Bush has never grown up.

Mrs. Godzilla,

Sorry to interrupt your “history lesson”, but it is Mike Luckovich who is calling the people who disagree with Bush’s policies the “enemy”.

We conservatives have been saying this all along. While the real enemy is IslamoFascism, you childish little Libs can’t deal with the very scary monster under your bed so you make up fake bogeymen who are less threatening to your craven psyches than reality.

The fact is that it was Bill Clinton who established the policy of Regime Change and warned us of the perils of Saddam’s regime - and the Democrats in Congress agreed. Bush was following an established policy which became all the more urgent after 9/11.

If regime change was a “degenerate” policy then you should be asking Clinton, Albright, Berger, Rockefeller, Kerry and others why they demanded it.

P.S. Pardon me while I gag over your phony freaking “peace” signature.

Blackadder — Happy trails. Try another newspaper from another city and get on to one of their blogs. I always like to wander around the globe via the internet to get other people’s perspectives from outside my own little sphere. But do come back now and then, if for nothing more than to say hi.

Old F.D.: Remember HITLER was an elected official too. He changed the course of history too.

Danish: Good point. BUT, remember the outgoing Clinton staff tried to warn the incoming Bush staff (mostly Rice), about the serious threat that Bin Laden and his ilk posed, Rice misjudged their attempts as an assault on her position.

LDull: Would YOU like to be called out of your name? It’s not nice and totally disrespectful — it’s one thing to call someone incompetent, war mongerer, etc.; but it’s quite ANOTHER to questions someone’s sexuality just because you don’t like their views.

I don’t have time to fool with Blackadder’s psychosis this morning, but before I leave I challenge the AJC staff to examine the origin of a few posts. This post using my name in a response to Craig was obviously made by Blackadder himself.

If they can show otherwise I’ll leave and never return. Additionally I’ll donate $100,000.00, in Blackadder’s name, to Children’s Health Care of Atlanta.

I think they will also find it came from the same place as Blackadder’s childish rant where he says he wants to punch anyone that disagrees with him.

Blackadder,

It’s even more childish for you to leave, especially trying to sully my name on your way out the door. All I did was force you to face up to the ridiculous position you took.

Old Fuddy Duddy,

I didn’t overreact in any way shape manner or form. I simply made Blackadder look at the words he wrote and recognize how absurd the notion of blustering about how he wanted to violently attack anyone that didn’t share his world view. Sometimes it takes a blunt response to make someone that views himself as an adult to realize that their words could potentially have consequences.

Mrs. Godzilla,

Nice speech. But, we are already fighting the good fight for our country and I am not sure which side you are on. The President is on our side, in case you haven’t noticed. Calling him a chimperor or a murderer as some liberals have is not the way to win the war we fighting.

You don’t seem to understand what and whom we are fighting. You do not seem to see the alternative to fighting in Iraq. There are terrorists in Iraq and in many countries around the world. If you think leaving them to your grandchildren is the thing to do, I am not with you.

I want the war to go smoothly without the slightest hitch. I want our troops at home. I do not think every decision our President made was the correct one. But he is not God and is making tough decisions. Decisions are not easy in any war but his one is not the usual. There are no RULES for war as we used to think of them. These killers are out to rid the world of Americans by any means and you don’t seem to realize that goal.

You are not improving anything with your complaints. You are undermining the power our Constitution gave the President. You are undermining the morale of the troops and the country. And certainly, in this age of instant communication, you are encouraging the enemy.

Enjoy our freedoms. Say what you want. But voting for the ones you want to run this country is the best way to indicate your choices, not continually castigating the ones elected. Telling the world how sorry Americans are is not the way to do it. But you and many others do it here every day. You get no approval from me.

Mrs. Godzilla is what I call a passive-agressive left wing personality type.

She uses flowery language to disguise her own hostility, and often preaches to those who disagree with her, using such phrases such as “Blessed are the peacemakers” and “kumbaya” in an attempt to claim the moral high ground.

SPECIAL EDITION FOR LUCKODULL WHO LAST WEEK WROTE:

To solve this problem, you have to reduce the responsibility of government and negotiate this work out to the private sector, let’s say a cost plus no bid contract with Halliburton…..

SO THIS SHOULD TURN HIM ON

Bush Administration push for privatization may have helped create Walter Reed ‘disaster’ Ron Brynaert Published: Saturday March 3, 2007

The Bush Administration’s drive for privatization may be responsible for the “deplorable” outpatient care for soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, according to a top Democratic Congressman investigating the scandal, which has already led to the resignation of the Secretary of the US Army.

A five-year, $120 million contract awarded to a firm run by a former executive from Halliburton – a multi-national corporation where Vice President Dick Cheney once served as CEO – will be probed at a Subcommittee on National Security and Foreign Affairs hearing scheduled for Monday.

A letter sent by Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA), chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, to Major General George W. Weightman, the former commander at Walter Reed, asks him to “address the implications of a memorandum from Garrison Commander Peter Garibaldi sent through you to Colonel Daryl Spencer, the Assistant Chief of Staff for Resource Management with the U.S. Army Medical Command” in order to better prepare himself for his testimony at the hearing.

“This memorandum, which we understand was written in September 2006, describes how the Army’s decision to privatize support services at Walter Reed Army Medical Center was causing an exodus of ‘highly skilled and experienced personnel,’” Waxman’s letter continues. “As a result, according to the memorandum, ‘WRAMC Base Operations and patient care services are at risk of mission failure.’”

Waxman’s letter states that “several sources have corroborated key portions of the memorandum.”

“We have learned that in January 2006, Walter Reed awarded a five-year $120 million contract to a company called IAP Worldwide Services for base operations support services, including facilities management,” Waxman continues. “IAP is one of the companies that experienced problems delivering ice during the response to Hurricane

Dusty-brain, your guy Bush chose no alternatives to invading Iraq. Now, 5 years later, his late attempts at diplomacy in the Middle East can only be described as failures. Condi gets snubbed in Jerusalem, Darth Vader Cheney caused the deaths of military guards in Afghanistan just because he showed up for a photo-op, Dubya gives away nuclear secrets to India the day before snubbing the Pakistani president, etc. And it goes on ad nauseum…

If you can’t see what a huge mess this administration has created all around the world, you truly are blinded by your simplistic ideology. DebbieDoRight - the implication when you stated that Hitler was elected was a comparison to a certain elected American official. It was in very poor taste. We are all adults here and we understand the implication made. Hitler’s party never won a general election legitimately. They never achieved even close to a majority. They achieved it by terror and by deception and outright fraud. Not even in Chicago has anything quite like that ever been done. I would compare some of the old-line Segregationists and Populists to Hitler in their methods and their governing styles (e.g. Theodore Bilbo and Huey Long), but agree or disagree with any of today’s leaders, I cannot imagine comparing any American leader to Hitler, at least on a national level. The implication, I repeat, was quite clear.

Our national media embarrassment was again on full display on Friday. Both MSNBC and Fox News devoted more coverage to Anna Nicole Smith — three weeks after her death on Feb. 8 — than they did to the multiple developments involving the neglect and deplorable conditions at Walter Reed military hospital.

The most lop-sided coverage by far was aired by Fox News, which featured only 10 references to Walter Reed compared to 121 of Anna Nicole — roughly 12 times the coverage. MSNBC featured 84 references to Walter Reed and 96 to Anna Nicole.

It really is sad that Dubya has made so many enemies. He came into office proclaiming that he was the “great uniter” and now he is perceived as perhaps the greatest divider. He doesn’t understand that to govern effectively is to govern from a consensus whereby most of the governed feel that they are participating in the process. Instead, Dubya has used a strictly partisan approach and has used every trick possible to build a power base with which he could run roughshod over everyone who has has an alternative viewpoint.

The whole thing is really sad because I believe that Dubya really believes all his BS. The trouble is that he isn’t really a good old boy from the West. He’s an elitist from the Northeast who has been part of the wealthy elite his whole life, as have many generations in his family before him. He is as out of touch with the common man as one could possibly be.

I love to read LuckoDull on Monday morning. It gives me determination for another week of fighting to free America from the menace of neo-con madness and hysteria.

This morning we get the standard propoganda of the baby-eating liberal who can only bi-tch, moan, whine and complain. But who do we get the lecture from? This was LuckoDulls first comment of the day, talking to himself as usual. No one attacked him, no one even criticized or disagreed with his ranting (his was the first posting). Pure unvarnished LuckoDull, with no outside influence.

So what was LuckoDulls post regarding? Why he was b***, moaning, whining, and complaining about liberals.

Did you get that? He was b***, moaning, whining, and complaining about people who he tells us b***, moan, whine, and complain. We most surely know what line LuckDull belongs in and it ain’t the line to support american troops.

LuckoDull is just another warbucks profiteer who is crazed and angry only because he will no longer be able to hornswoggle the american people with tales of phoney patriotism in order to sell them a few more war materials. He would be truley sad and pathetic if he didn’t get american soldiers killed with his greed. As it is, he is only a despicable enemy to the troops of our great nation!

Iraq Veterans Against the War

Agustín Aguayo served as a combat medic in Iraq from February 2004 to February 2005. He applied for conscientious objector (CO) status in February 2004. When the Army denied his CO application, he filed a civil court suit in U.S. District Court in Washington against the Secretary of the Army; his appeal is still pending. Shortly before he went AWOL, he received an Army good conduct medal. He is a great example of both the courage it takes for our troops to go to war, as well as the courage it takes for them to oppose the war.

A critical part of the GI movement to end the war in Iraq is service members’ refusal to participate in it. Agustín’s stance against the war, and his moral decision to refuse re-deployment, sends a message to others in the military that they can refuse to go to Iraq. Agustín is a brave leader, IVAW commends and fully stands behind him.

In The News 9:25

Characterizing the problems at Walter Reed with the “Bush Administrations drive for privatization” may be a mischaracterization. It’s been the policy of the Federal government since the late 1970’s to rely on the private sector for commercial services. In cases where the federal agency performs commercial services, methological cost studies are performed to determine if cost savings would result in transferring to the private sector.

Within DoD, this conversion was pushed, especially under our previous President, with increased dollar targets to measure conversion success. Functions were also identified, with targets for the various military services. When services are transferred from the public to the private sectors, a condition of the contract is the establishment of metrics to measure success and compliance. It is up to the military commanders to perform this function. It appears the Army was sadly lacking in this regard.

More about the federal government’s privatization program is at:

I don’t particularly idolize the Kennedys either, but at least they were smart enough to know that you don’t build an enduring society by transparently transferring most of the wealth to the wealthy. It’s very clear where Dubya’s loyalties lie, and he has made no effort to conceal the fact that his concern is for “the investing class”, and to give little but lip service to the needs of the less fortunate. Calling himself a “compassionate conservative” is about the biggest joke I have heard.

What’s so sad is that it will take years, if we ever pull ourselves out of this mess Dubya and his neocons have gotten us into. This is what happens when a nation buys a pile of crap from a bunch of snake oil salesmen, which is what the neocons really are.

I hope some posters on this blog watched ‘60 Minutes’ last night.

While we focus on the catastrophe in Iraq, we seem to have forgotten another devastating part of Bush’s horrific legacy: Fiscal Incompetence.

Bill Clinton inherited massive deficits and turned them into massive surpluses only to see his outstanding accomplishment squandered.

This quote from the head of the GAO, David Walker, should be repeated again, again and again:

“I would argue that the most serious threat to the United States is not someone hiding in a cave in Afghanistan or Pakistan but our own fiscal irresponsibility,”

Mr. Walker goes on to state that:

We are mortgaging the future of our children and grandchildren at record rates, and that is not only an issue of fiscal irresponsibility, it’s an issue of immorality.”

I encourage all to read and try to understand that the ‘conservative’ agenda has and will continue to have devastating results.

History will be very unkind to this incompetent AND immoral President…very unkind.

A couple other points - isn’t it a bit misleading to contrast Clinton’s success with the Federal budget to the situation you describe - as Social Security and Medicare (the subject of the links) are off budget?

Comptroller General Walker also called the prescription drug benefit the single most irresponsible piece of legislation since the 1960s. That measure had bipartisan support (read: everybody gets to buy votes).

So it’s not really a “conservative agenda” thing, as Democrats staunchly opposed any program changes proposed by Pres Bush. I’m not sure how any Democrat today would vote for a cut/change/modification in either program.

Perish the horrible thought! No need to get nasty! One Carter administration was quite enough, thank you! (Ever tried a mortgage rate equal to a usurious credit card rate?).

I believe that graph was adjusted to show debt a a percentage of the national economy - hence the “fun with numbers” reference. Most people, to keep things relatively equal, will simply look at the budgets from year to year for the appropriate Administration and add the deficits or surpluses (actual, not projected).

That’d be a good question for the Presidential debates - a what’re you gonna do about it. And have O’Reilly host it so he could repeat the question 3,4,5 or 6 times and say “this isn’t difficult to understand, now please answer the question - no spin.

All of you who are American apologists are adding to the decay of the once great nation that, more than once, has saved the world from chaos and evil. Yes, Iraq has become a cesspool of violence, primarily because we shifted our efforts to fighting a limited and political postwar… and yes, I am critical of Bush for that. Nothing, however, will change the fact that the American people will always owe “Dubya” for his courage and leadership in the immediate post 9/11 era. He provided strength and determination that few from the left could have matched.

TruthIman,

My “seek and ye shall find the spelling error” comment was satirical. It’s sad that you are too much of a dolt to get it.

I was making a point which continued my theme of preachy Left wing Christians who pull phrases out of the Bible to justify their policies of appeasement, which they call “peace”.

Unlike the the few Leftists who aren’t atheists, I do not use the Bible to disdainfully preach to others.

I cannot tell you how many times I have been told by jaw-droppingly vain people what will happen to me on “Judgement Day” because of my conservative beliefs. Indeed, more than one person has gone so far as to warn that God will strike me dead because I support our efforts in Iraq.

The idea that Christianity demands that we lie down like a doormat in the face of tyranny is absurd, yet that is essentially what Leftist Christians preach.

Liberals have a way of putting halos over their heads and horns over those whose interpretation of Christianity does not conform with their pacifist view.

Unlike the followers of the warrior Mohammed, I do not believe in conquering countries, raping and pillaging the population, seizing Christian churches and replacing the Cross with a Star and Crescent - magically transforming it into a Mosque for the “religion of peace”. Nor do I believe in forcing the conquered to live in Dhimmitude.

However, I so understand the need to use force when necessary to fight tyranny, and to destroy those who would destroy us if left unchallenged.

There is nothing that would make me happier than to wake up one day and find peace on Earth, but that is not going to happen by giving tyranny free reign, or claiming that our efforts in these matters are “degenerate”.

Then the fault was the Army’s. IAP would have been required to list the employees and their function in the bid. The Army was charged with reviewing the bid and could have rejected the bid as unrealistic.

It had nothing to do with Bush, Cheney, a conspiracy, or political influence. My read is the Army (contracting, finance, legal, etc who comprised the Army’s A-76 team) at the local level (or HQ function responsible for Walter Reed A-76) did an absolutely terrible job. And the soldiers take another hit.

Gay slur at conservative conference draws flak

“It would be better, in my opinion, to not have a CPAC at all than to have one that presents conservatism as a hostile, people-hating ideology,” said Amy Ridenour, whose National Center for Public Policy Research was one of the paying sponsors for CPAC.

“We conservatives have enough trouble overcoming the false things that are said about us without paying for a platform upon which we shoot ourselves annually in the foot,” she wrote on her weblog Sunday.

A Saturday Newsweek poll showed

Among registered Republicans, 59 percent said they backed the former New York City mayor and 34 percent said they favored McCain.

“Most registered Republicans are not familiar with Giuliani’s positions on key social issues,” the magazine said, listing his support for abortion rights and gun control as examples.

“When asked about whether Giuliani’s views on these same issues would be enough to prevent them from supporting him, few registered Republican voters said it would,” it said.

In a potential general election matchup, Giuliani was virtually tied with Clinton and former Democratic Sen. John Edwards and five points ahead of Obama in a poll of all registered voters.

Well, it appears Giuliani’s personal history isn’t as much of an issue as either socially conservative Republicans or liberal Democrats would hope.

I remember the day after September 11th, papers across the world said they were now Americans to. Boy how we screwed that up. And one other thing, how is it that there were 19 hijackers, their nationality as follows:

1 Egyptian 15 Saudia Arabians 1 United Arab Emerites 1 Lebanese

So since a majority of the hijackers were Saudi citizens why didnt we attack Saudi Arabia? Probably the same reason when Dubya said there needs to be regime change in the mideast he didnt start with Saudi Arabia who is the worst at treating humans as humans. Lets see how you GOP lovers spin that.

You may not have the bad manners to talk about money; you just have bad manners about everything else.

I would say a sorry reality is someone whose life is limited to this blog every day. If you hadn’t noticed I haven’t been here in months. This is because I actually have a life- a real job, real coursework, and a real family, none of which you have. So I don’t have time for you fools, but I’ll continue to try to make time for a good laugh occasionally.

Andy,

Why does the story concerning your silly religious beliefs change depending on what the subject matter is- Your god is a loving god… no wait, he’s a smiting god. He’s all good… no wait, he gave advice on selling your daughter into slavery… no wait, that’s the old testament and doesn’t count. The bible is the true word of god… no wait, it contains hundreds of inaccuracies… no wait, it was written by men so they made the mistakes. Bottom line- you think at very basic cognitive levels and it would be truly sad if it wasn’t so damn funny.

One Moron: The very essence of Conservatism is to be faithful to traditional beliefs, such as strong Religious leanings, never changing but always holding to what has worked for many, many centuries.

Whereas liberalism is the ever changing embrace of the fad of the day, like homosexual sex for instance, and a concerted effort to trash the traditional and religious beliefs of an established country so that fools don’t suffer guilt in their various idiocies.

Andy,

What you describe as being “faithful to traditional beliefs” is simply dogmatic stupidity. You believe things without using logic or reason- the universe and all living things being formed in seven days, Jonah living inside a fish, living specimens of all the animals in the world being put on a single boat, and the list goes on. You have an idea that you want to believe, and no matter what the facts are you try to stretch them or deny them so they will fit in your foolish mold. As I already pointed out, you do change your beliefs and use spin to try to rationalize your ridiculous points- one day Jesus is a god who preaches love, the next you’re talking about how god should kill all Muslims. The truth is that there is nothing, no logic, no evidence, no reason behind your beliefs. What you believe is simply not real, and you use those fictitious ideas to justify illogic and failure.

And you are trying to make a case that conservatism has worked for centuries? You are a product of a delusion-based home school education, aren’t you? During the American Revolution the conservatives were the Loyalists, the ones who advocated a continuation of our unity with England. The liberals were the revolutionaries like Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, and George Washington who fought for a change in society. At the time of the Civil War, as any history professor with an ounce of credibility will tell you, Republicans and Lincoln were the liberals and Democrats were the conservatives. The conservatives wanted to keep the institution of slavery alive (your traditional beliefs), while the liberals wanted to change society for the better by abolishing it. I’d also say FDR didn’t perform too poorly as another liberal president.

It’s just another myth that conservatism has worked, ever. It has only stood in the way of progress. Luckily, you, Granny, rw and your ilk have no power and the country has already rejected your asinine beliefs. As you age you will look back to the “good old days” from 2000-06 when your ideology had a strangle hold on our government for the one and only time.
