senator webb’s democratic response
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
after listening to the same old bs from bush, it was great to hear senator webb. this paragraph was the most striking and got to the heart of bush’s leadership or lack thereof-
“Like so many other Americans, today and throughout our history, we serve and have served, not for political reasons, but because we love our country. On the political issues — those matters of war and peace, and in some cases of life and death — we trusted the judgment of our national leaders. We hoped that they would be right, that they would measure with accuracy the value of our lives against the enormity of the national interest that might call upon us to go into harm‘s way.”
webb comes from a military family. he fought in vietnam, his son is currently in iraq. he has tremendous moral authority to speak about the catastrophe bush has wrought.

Speech was vintage Bush…unfortunately
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
this speech was vintage bush. his words, like cotton candy, dissolve quickly. tomorrow, it’s back to reality. the mess bush has created in iraq, the huge debt he’s saddled our country with.
i visited new orleans a couple weeks ago. mile after mile of destruction. people living in crummy fema trailers in front of their flooded out homes. yet i didn’t hear anything from bush on this. remember his speech in new orleans after katrina, when he promised to rebuild new orleans? more cotton candy.
bush brought up how fighting the terrorists in iraq means not having to fight them here. that is such bull. we’re radicalizing a whole generation of iraqis. the blowback from bush’s blunder in iraq will haunt our children.
i thought bush’s speech as a whole was listless, he’s going through the motions. he realizes the american people have figured him out.

Back at the drawing board
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
happy 2007 everybody.
i’m back at my drawing board. there’s been a lot of news during the holidays. tomorrow’s cartoon is on the hanging of saddam, a truly evil man. even so, the administration managed to botch the execution, perhaps further fueling the insurgency. is there anyone out there who still thinks w and company are doing a good job? too bad we can’t fire bush like the falcons fired mora. mike
