Gosh, I wonder if businesses leaving Atlanta has anything to do with the 9% sales and monumental sewer taxes?

And, thinking ahead, when liberals start the avalanche of taxes at the Federal level will businesses start leaving America altogether?

Seems to be a trend, don’t it?

Then again it could be the liberal run governmental hallmarks of trash in the streets, rampant crime, poverty, hopelessness and the most mind numbingly stupid drivers on Earth, all looking for a place to stop for no reason.

There’s many, many reasons.

Ooops, I forgot to add corruption^^ (-;

From the Vent:

Judging from recent Vents, those who support the noble, courageous, tough-minded Republican Party are also really, really sore losers.

Funny, I don’t remember any Republicans calling Americans stupid, threatening to move to Canada (and then not doing it) and making death threats upon the life of the new speaker of the house.

Like you liberals did the last ten elections that you lost.

So keep blowing the smoke up your own a-ss, like we don’t know.

All this crying, whining liberal bias about North Korea and Iran acquiring nuclear weapons on Bush’s watch is all a bunch of liberal fear mongering.

What possible good news could there ever be about nuclear destruction coming to America, whether it is dirty bombs, terrorist nukes or ICBMs from afar? In a word, they are all survivable for the vast majority of American families, if they know what to do beforehand and have made even the most modest preparations.

Is that you with the phone stuck in your ear? The little fella in the (cough) middle?

Are you leaving?

Oh well, no Bush today, but there’s always the land down under Pelosi.

On Nov. 15, the Board of Education voted 4-2 to dissolve the city’s high-school Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps program. The board, in its infinite liberal wisdom, decided that the program has no place in the public school system on the grounds that the military discriminates against gays with its “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy. The board also had problems with the program because its members believe that it acts as a recruiting tool for the military, and that San Francisco schools “need to teach a program of peace.”

I laughed at a comment made by a National Guardsman who said…”I don’t remember them rejecting us when we were assisting them during the devastating earthquake. Maybe we won’t show up for the next one.”

Now we all know he didn’t mean it. They’ll be there whenever and wherever the need arises. Too bad Pelosi’s district doesn’t feel the same way about them.

Looks like the Republicans won’t even use the little time they have left to do domething constructive. Instead they are gonna bi+ch and whine about what the democrats have/haven’t done before they even take office in January.

Since the ‘do-nothings’ have never been able to do anything competently but ramp up smear campaigns against Democrats and moderates, we should expect nothing more from the sore losers. If the ‘do-nothings’ haven’t done anything by now, they ain’t ever gonna, never did and never will do anything except monger fear in their ever dwindling core constituency.

‘Do-nothing’ Republicans are rapidly approaching irrelevancy and they ain’t got a clue about those issues that are significant to the American voter. Who the Democrats choose to fill congressional posts with don’t make a damn to anybody as long as the Democrats don’t waste a lot of time doin’ it and they stay focused on the real issues.

Democrats won’t let themselves be distracted by Republican attempts to continue paralyzing the government with wedge issues that nobody really cares about anymore. Say goodbye to Republican ‘do-nothing’ governing, a new dawn has arisen and a fresh breeze is in the air!

Mike,

Good cartoon. It stikes sensitive areas.

Maria Saporta in yesterday’s column in the AJC listed the casualities from the past 12 months:

“Georgia-Pacific gets bought out by privately owned Koch Industries, based in Wichita, Kan. BellSouuth is being acquired by San Antonio-based AT&T. Scientific Atlanta has been purchased by San Jose, Calif.-based Cisco Systems. Atlanta’s Internet Security Systems has been acquired by IBM, based in Armonk, N.Y.”

That’s a lot of jobs gone with the wind. Delta employs more than 24,000 in the Atlanta area.

Say goodbye to Republican ‘do-nothing’ governing, a new dawn has arisen and a fresh breeze is in the air!”

At the moment, even the new halogen bulb in my lantern can’t penetrate the fog. One corporate HQ that should not be permitted to “leave” Atlanta is BellSouth. The takeover of BellSouth by the Texas crowd of SBC/”AT&T” is an outgrowth of Texas’ willing complicity in the continued coverup of the Roman Catholic/Rockefeller-Bush/CFR-CIA assassination of John Kennedy. Noticed how many bill remit addresses now have Texas zipcodes?

Corporate fascism has gained much ground against the Jeffersonian Whig principles upon which America was built. The spiralling concentration of wealth is a direct result of criminal and treasonous policy and practice in our government…purchased by bribes/”campaign contributions.”

The People of Atlanta are free. Corporations looking for stooges rather than free Americans may be more “comfortable” elsewhere. Much corporate culture tends more toward extended prison sentences than peace, neighborliness, and prosperity.

The “problem” will be solved when the traitors promoting off-shoring, illegal immigration, fascist plutocracy, false war, and the continued denial of Bush complicity in 9-11 are fully expropriated and brought to final judgment.

Atlanta will survive as a community sharing the understanding that it is we who can manifest as the City on the Hill: New Jerusalem. This is Dr. King’s hometown, the Wheelhorse of the Nation, and the future of America for all good and decent peoples.

The key is righteous governance. It shall be ensured by the moral outrage of an incensed People fed up with the Nazis, pervert-hypocrites, traitors and fellowtravellers now running Our Nation into the ground.

If Pelosi doesn’t hang Bush and his crowd for treason - 9-11 and WMD-lying us into false war with some 2900 of us dead shedding innocent blood - The People must once more assert direct Sovereignty. Those who have systematically and institutionally profitted from treason since their funding of Hitler, promotion of illegal immigration, to 9-11 and the Iraq invasion must be “nationalized.”

The community of nations will respect the American People once more for our re-establishing righteousness in Our Land. Atlanta shall lead the way.

I think the real point of a Guiliani nomination is the Republican Party will be found to be pragmatic, not controlled by the “religious right wingers.” Guiliani will maintain those positions, not change them.

On the other hand, if Hillary (still love these first-name-only celebrities) secures the Democratic nomination, it will be by portraying herself as a moderate (a strategy already well underway) with the tacit approval of the Party’s influential ultraliberal leadership, as it’s a political move to gain support, not a true reflection of who or what she is.

Paul,

As to Nancy Pelosi’s faux pas in pushing Murtha into the front pew and then getting him dumped, I doubt that it even registers on the Richter scale of the average American.

I don’t think there is a huge interest in politics until elections come, except by comparatively small groups. I am thinking in terms of the total population.

Citizens may discuss the war and wave the flag and fuss about taxes. But after elections, I doubt that Nancy Pelosi’s movements cause a lot of debate. Maybe in political action groups and blogs, but overall, no.

I think you’re right. Guiliani will maintain those positions and for that reason, we’ll probably see Cain as the nominee. The far right of the Republican party will not accept those positions. I think you’re underestimating just how strong that red tide is. Even if Hillary tries to disguise herself as a moderate, I’m not sure she has much of a chance at the Presidency. I think the election was a blip, a reaction against corruption and Iraq, not a trend. Madame Speaker needs to show an effective Democratic party, sensitive to the wants and needs of the people or the red tide will wash her out to sea and her legacy will be like unto dead fish.

Here’s what Boehner said on CNN :

House Majority Leader John Boehner: “Wolf, I understand that, but let’s not blame what’s happening in Iraq on Rumsfeld. Wolf Blitzer: But he’s in charge of the military.”

House Majority Leader John Boehner: “But the fact is the generals on the ground are in charge and he works closely with them and the president”.

Quoth Reid: ” It’s political leaders like Congressman Boehner and Donald Rumsfeld, who have failed. I expect President Bush and Congressional Republicans, who demanded John Kerry apologize, hold their own party’s majority leader to a much higher standard.”

Quoth Emanuel: “President Bush used to say that he would listen to the generals. Today, he says he’s happy to listen to Secretary Rumsfeld while his lieutenant in Congress, John Boehner blames the generals on the ground for the chaos in Iraq.”

Quoth Dean: “After the Bush Administration’s numerous failures in Iraq, to blame our brave troops is just wrong. John Boehner should apologize immediately.”

Of course, he did not apologize. The silent minority stayed silent on this outrage.

It would be hard to judge what issue will carry that election. Paul,

I am trying to get over a plainly personal feeling of rejection for Pelosi. She grates on my nerves!! I realize that is not a good evaluation tool so I’m TRYING!!(As Diogenes would say, OPEN MINDED.)

Anyway, I think she will fit right in with any and every Democrat. That is, the ones with the most power in Congress. She will be all smiles and sure of their success (as long as they are in power).

Did you watch Lehrer News Hour last night? Two Democrats were being interviewed by Margaret Warner. They were patting each other on the back and talking about how great and wonderful they were ad nauseum. Finally Margaret said something like “Now besides this lovefest…” and she tried to ask a question.

Pelosi will be the ultimate lovefest, but it won’t extend far beyond the liberal domain. Just enough to look gracious and fair without being either.

VISIT TO VIETNAM

In between meetings, the president and his National Security Adviser Joshua Bolten were kept by the Vietnamese authorities in a cozy lounge in the Kyong-Bok palace. At one point, the president turned to Bolten and said:

“It is good to be back in Vietnam! You are too young to remember that war.”

“Why, I did not know you were in Vietnam, Sir. I thought your service was in the Texas Air National Guard and you never made it to Vietnam”

“There is a reason, Josh. Someone had to stay back at the fort and protect the people. During my period in the Guard not a single enemy bomb was dropped on the United States, including Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico. Not a single freight train was strafed and not a single cargo ship was sunk by the enemy!”

“But the papers and the opposition … “

“They will never accept that I and my wing kept the Gulf of Mexico safe and not a single oil platform was attacked. History is written in a discreet fashion, Josh. The true defenders are seldom recognized and honored.”

“Glad you told me. By the way aren’t the Vietnamese going to invite us to lunch? It is almost five o’clock and we have been here since 8am”

‘Yes, I noticed. We are not being treated very well this time. Please Josh run down around the corner where there is a Burger King and get me a couple of Bacon Cheeseburgers and a large diet Coke!”

Falling gasoline prices leading up to the mid-term elections were viewed with some skepticism by consumers who surmised that voter anger over high gas prices were being manipulated for political reasons. As the election got closer, gas prices kept falling. Many believed that once the elections were over that gas prices would again edge higher. I can include myself among those who watched gas price fluctuations through jaded eyes.

Big surprise…we were right. Just 10 days have passed since the Democrats defeated Republicans in both the House and Senate, and gas prices have resumed their upward climb.

Re: Paul 10:18 “What are your criteria for looking back in ‘08 and saying Pelosi & compnay didn’t screw up, but had a successful two years?”

This is what I said at 9:32:

“Frank is right on the money. You naysayers are licking your chops waiting for Pelosi and company to screw up so the Repugnants can take control again in ‘08. Sorry to burst your bubble but the Dems are in it for the long haul. Regarding the ‘08 presidential race, judging by who was first out of the gate for the Repubs, we should have smooth sailing in regaining the White House too.”

If the Dems avoid corruption, roll back some of the tax cuts, get us out of Iraq, get the minimum wage raised, do something to curb illegal immigration and get a Democratic president elected then I will consider them to be successful. If they don’t accomplish anything meaningful then they don’t deserve to be in power.

Then again after the last 6 years the Repugnants don’t deserve to be in power either. Where does that leave us? Unfortunately it leaves us hoping that the lesser of two evils remains in control. That would be the Dems.

The Dan Rather Scandal was a set up. They spotted it too fast. The swiftboats set this one up too. We have been given an administration with an evolving scenario concerning Bush, Desertion, and Time of War. I think Bush is guilty and he needs to resign. Every wrinkle in this story has a Swiftboat connection to the guys who were Bush’s early support, and who actually did break in to the national guard file room and get that data.
