“I worked hard to try to kill him. I authorized a finding for the CIA to kill him. We contracted with people to kill him. I got closer to killing him than anybody has gotten since.” — William Jefferson Clinton, Sept. 24, 2006. To put this little piece of braggadocio in context, it should be noted that no other American head of state — sitting or former — has ever before admitted to such a serious violation of law. — Executive Order 11905, signed Feb. 18, 1976, by President Gerald Ford in response to the Church Committee. Section 5(g) of that order states “no employee of the United States government shall engage in, or {{{conspire to engage in}}}, political assassination.” –TownHall

Laws aren’t for pinkos to follow, remember.

Elsewhere in the interview, in a classic case of blame-shifting, Clinton said that he wanted to take military action against the Taliban and bin Laden, but he could not get the intelligence agencies to agree on a plan of action and sign off on what he wanted to do. Is he saying that as America’s commander in chief he could not execute the necessary orders to go after the terrorist sanctuaries in Afghanistan? That his hands were tied? That he wasn’t fully in charge?-TownHall

The buck didn’t stop there.

Despite the best efforts of the Democratic spin machine, the simple truth is the NIE concludes U.S.-led counterterrorism efforts have not only severely damaged al Qaeda and disrupted its terrorist operations but that U.S. success in Iraq is key to ensuring that this terrorist threat does not grow. The confusion promulgated by Sen. Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts and Rep. Nancy Pelosi of California puts into sharp relief the inability of Democratic leadership to formulate any rational, national security plan to confront the insidious threat of terrorism and in turn keep America and the American people safe..-WashingtonTimes

This is just the latest example of how antiwar politicians and the press work in tandem. Mr. Hagel and Mrs. Snowe recently joined with all six Senate Intelligence Committee Democrats to issue a report concluding that Saddam Hussein was “resistant” to cooperating with al Qaeda. In order to reach this conclusion, the Intelligence panel voted 8-7 to remove from the report a statement by Brig. Gen. Vincent Brooks, a spokesman for the U.S. military in Iraq, about an American military raid on Salman Pak, which had been a training center for foreign jihadists during Saddam’s rule: “This raid occurred in response to information that had been gained by coalition forces from some foreign fighters we encountered from other countries, not Iraq. It reinforces the likelihood of links between [Saddam’s] regime and external terrorist organizations, clear links with common interests.” But Gen. Brooks’ statement didn’t match the majority’s agenda, so out it went.-WashingtonTimes

Iraq is the excuse du jour for jihadists. But the important factor is that these are young men looking for an excuse. If you live your life calculating that it’s a mistake to do anything that might prompt murderers and savages to act like murderers and savages, you’ve basically decided to live under their thumb and surrender your civilization in the process.-TownHall

Cut

Yesterday, the Defense Department press service published a stunning account of a press briefing by Army Major General Richard Zahner, the deputy chief of staff for intelligence with Multinational Force Iraq, in which General Zahner said the Iranian government is funneling C-4 explosives and millions of dollars to Iraqi insurgents. General Zahner reportedly said the Iranian explosives were distinguishable by red labels identical to those found on explosives shipped by the Iranians to Hezbollah fighters targeting Israel.-NYSun

Kind of hard to be losing the war in Iraq when we aren’t even fighting any Iraqis.

Stretching the truth is the basis of politics on both sides of the aisle. Whatever it takes to please the koolaid drinkers (loyal voters) and keep their jobs. It is not about service, but job security. Obtaining job security means beholding to the party to keep the funding and support.

Buck the party and get slayed. Lieberman, a guy that votes along the lines 90% of the time got hacked and not thrown under the bus, but ran over by the bus. All he did is support finishing the job now that it is broken over there, but that wasn’t the lefty “message” he was told to support.
See GOPs Chafee, Santorum, Dewine, et al that are too close to the middle to get any support from the party. At risk indeed.

What is the problem? It is the party system itself. If you vote your concience, and not with 100% loyalty, you are on the out.
I say aboloish all parties! Then each issue stands on its own, and each politician votes based on the issue, not what the party wants.

Wait a minute, let me see if I can understand this now. You’re trying to use this as some sort of smoking gun?:

“I worked hard to try to kill him. I authorized a finding for the CIA to kill him. We contracted with people to kill him. I got closer to killing him than anybody has gotten since.” — William Jefferson Clinton, Sept. 24, 2006. To put this little piece of braggadocio in context, it should be noted that no other American head of state — sitting or former — has ever before admitted to such a serious violation of law. — Executive Order 11905, signed Feb. 18, 1976, by President Gerald Ford in response to the Church Committee. Let me ask you something there, sport, are you equating trying to kill Osama bin Laden with an illegal act? Because it seems to me he falls under the “enemy combatant” designation (I think even us libs or “pinkos” can agree on that).

Is that why Bush hasn’t killed Osama yet? Because he doesn’t want to break the law?

That seems a little… I don’t know… soft on terror.

But that’s just the nutwing lib perspective. I’m sure you’ve got about a thousand more posts from townhall.com or redstate.com or whatever partisan crap you can get your hands on to prove “your” point, don’t you?

And for all the nutjobs that think that the country was focused on Billy for Monicagate….nah, it was the constant lying. I applauded him for the Monica deal, though I would have thought that the most powerful man in the world at the time could have gotten a hottie instead of a flabby. Goldie, We admired him for obtaining a non-Hillary BJ. It was for lying under oath and obstructing justice. Impeachment then was a waste of time, as absolutely nothing would stick to teflon Bill. Impeachment now would be a waste of time, as there will not be enough votes, even with dem congressional control, which won’t happen, by the way. Why?

Here is a sample… “Wiretapping is illegal.” “But it stops terror plots…what would you do instead?” “Uh…Bush lies.” “Ok, what is your plan to stop the violence?” “Uh…there were no WMDs.” “Maybe, maybe not. Irrelavant now. It is broken, how do you want to fix it, save abandoning the area altogether?” “Uh…the poor are suffering.” “Poor have always suffered. What are you going to do about it?” “Uh…Bush lies.”

The biggest lie promoted by this regime and its syncophants is that those of us who oppose the “course” are traitors, soft on terrorism, hoping for al Qaeda victory, ad nauseum.

I will stand my patriotism and love of country and its ideals next to any with pride and courage.

From my nordic immigrant great grandparents who crossed from Europe to Minnesota to Oklahoma to live in a sod hut and scratch out a homestead.

From grandparents who fought for the rights of the Irish to work and live. Who were beaten in confrontations over the right to unionize. Who fought in the trenches as doughboys or stayed home and rolled bandages for the Red Cross.

From my parents, uncles and aunts, who went to war in Africa, Asia and Europe, while their wives and mothers collected tin and tires. Then they came home and made our house of place of safety for people of all colors and creeds.

When you question the patriotism of families like mine, who have for generations really been active in the political life of this country you are beyond contempt.

I believe it is easier for you to question our love of country and its higher ideals, than it is for you to do the work to find the whole truth of our times. It is easier to allow the administration to sell your soul to the devil than to stand for the moral high grand.

And most of you who defend this torture business do so while breaking one of the big rules….you do so using the Lord’s name in vain.

I pray for your forgiveness.

Yesterday was a dark day in American politics. One Senator said it all:

“This is wrong. It is unconstitutional. It is un-American,” said Patrick Leahy of Vermont, the committee’s top Democrat. He said it was intended to choke off access to Guantanamo to “ensure that the Bush-Cheney administration will never again be embarrassed by a United States Supreme Court decision reviewing its unlawful abuses of power.”

Good piece by Oliver North this morning. Allow me to cut in some specifics…

— Executive Order 11905, signed Feb. 18, 1976, by President Gerald Ford in response to the Church Committee. Section 5(g) of that order states “no employee of the United States Government shall engage in, or conspire to engage in, political assassination.”

— Section 2-305 of Executive Order 12036, signed by President Jimmy Carter on Jan. 24, 1978, broadens the prohibition from “political assassination” to “assassination” generally.

— Executive Order 12333, signed by President Ronald Reagan on Dec. 4, 1981, specifies that assassination is against the law and contrary to U.S. policy.

“I worked hard to try to kill him. I authorized a finding for the CIA to kill him. We contracted with people to kill him. I got closer to killing him than anybody has gotten since.” —Former President Bill Clinton, Sept. 24, 2006

So, torture is bad, but assassination is ok? Hmmmm. Hypocrites. I think that the policy should be torture first, then assassination. Saves money on food at Gitmo.

The compromise on the bill reads:

“The new legislation forbids US guards from inflicting treatment which could constitute a war crime – including torture, rape, murder, and any act intended to cause “serious” physical or mental pain – but gives the President the right to define and decide which other techniques can be used short of that. The CIA would be allowed to continue its secret prisons programme.”

Before then they never thought they had a chance and their numbers were small. Clinton gave them hopes that they could bring us down through his fecklessness. Now we face a huge force of dead enders that had been allowed to grow into an emboldened force in the 1990’s.

So I point to Clinton to show that we can’t allow ourselves to get to that point again. Sadly the Democrats think that if we just come home and leave them alone everything will be sweetness and light. They make excuses and say we are living in the past and pointing fingers. I say they want to go back and live in the past at our peril, so Billy Jeff allowing the terrorist threat to grow exponentially has to be pointed out over and over. We already know for a fact their way doesn’t work.

Pretty funny stuff here today! The assassin tag on Clinton is particularly hilarious. We all now that’s wingnut hysteria that will never, ever fly.

Bob Woodward’s new book shows how Bush Cheney and Rummy refused to let truth get in the way of their determination to invade Iraq. This is a GREAT read!

Good cartoon Mike. Here is an idea for another one. Show Bush handing the Taliban $43 million to help eliminate the poppy plants and to grease the wheels for a gas line for his Texans cronies. This occured after the CIA certified that the Cole was attacked by OBL & before 9/11. Wonder how much of that money was used in the 9/11 attack. In the background you can show the bumper crop of poppy plants that are now growing in Afgan.

Stretching the truth is a wingnut pastime.

A deep dark, day in American politics was unfolded yesterday.

I watched it on C-Span and was amazed at the cowardice and spineless actions taken by these so called politicians.

They have forgotten the American values millions have died for. Their are only a few left with the guts to fight a war. Most do not have what it takes to win. They allow the terrorists to take our freedom.

Amazing cowardice that the whole have witnessed our weakness. Our weakness is our government.

When I was in high school I was taught that the Soviets just knocked on a country’s door and if there was no resistence, they walked in.

Well that is exactly how the bush administration behaves. They lied and got no resistance; nobody challenged them. So they kept on lying. When they got caught they whined to Congress to make it ok for them.

Well, it all caught up with the Soviets and they are no more. The same will happen to the neo cons. Now even many Republicans are appalled by how this administration has pulled our country down.

syc‧o‧phant  –noun a self-seeking, servile flatterer; fawning parasite.

—Synonyms toady, yes man, flunky, fawner, flatterer.

Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.0.1) Based on the Random House Unabridged Dictionary, © Random House, Inc. 2006.

I admit to some spelling difficulties, do you admit to being a war whore?

And in response to: We really, really need a definition for “syncophants” quickly. It’s especially delicious when a word first appears in a mindless diatribe like that one where generations upon generations have fought for the right of Mrs. G to lay down and surrender to Islamofascists without so much as a whimper.

First off,I lay down for one man only, and I guarantee it’s never with a whimper. Whimpering is for those who are faking it. For the faint of heart - those who think f****** is a greater evil than an ill-concieved, ill-planned immoral war.

Secondly, I fight “Islamo” and “Christian” and just plain old facists every day. I’m pretty sure you are not posting from Iraq. How many letters to Congress did you right yesterday? The day before? This month? How many demonstrations have you attended? How many candidate debates have you seen? How many innagurals have you danced at? (Backwards and in high heels)What signs are in your yard? What bumper stickers are on your car? How many times have you written checks, boiled hot dogs, decorated floats, walked the length of a state ( ok, I only went 30 miles, but he went all the way), cleaned a river bed, took in storm victims, saved a group of minorities from a gaggle of gang memebers intent on doing evil?

Now I have to go wash up. Contact with small minds and smaller hearts leaves me feeling dirty.

You are dismissed.

After 9/11 there were few who didn’t support bush with his invasion of Afghanistan and the war on terror. Most Americans agreed and supported him even if they were relunctant because of political differences.

We split hard over Iraq. Most of us wanted the administration to continue the war on terror rather than invade a country to resolve a pi$$ing contest. Since then the deaths and the lies are finally getting to the average American. Even if Iraq survives their civil war and insurgencies will they align with the U.S. or Iran? What will the U.S. have gained from all the deaths, injuries, sacrifices and money? Very possibly nothing more than another Islamic law country or Iranian satellite. Fantasy is a united secular US supporting country; that is already proven by their elected leaders.

The division in 2000 is nothing compared to today. Oh, that it was so simple; outrage over a bl j; simply a vote; not a way of life. How many presidents haven’t; it’s just one got caught by a publicity seeking partner and caused a little embarrassment. That’s nothing to downright shame of this administration and the hatred it has generated not just within the borders but throughout the world. Perhaps we should say this administration negatively divided the world.

This has been a great day here!

The flailing and whining by the neocon fringe today is worthy of framing.

It’s Clinton! It’s the NYTimes! It’s waahwaahwaah!!!

No, it’s not.

America’s real problem is the 35% (Goldie’s right!) who would absolutely support Bush even if he killed and ate his own daughters.

It’s bad enough that Iraq was invaded on false grounds. It’s pathetic that (3 years later) Bush can’t admit that [maybe] he made a mistake. It’s astounding (but that’s how denial works) that there would be a hard core 35% that wouldn’t admit Bush was wrong even if Bush himself admitted he was wrong.

Like he did about the WMDs in Iraq. Bush admits there weren’t any. But try telling that to the 35%.

Pompous RW, zenophobic BD, and (drum roll!) alcoholic iceman Andy? Thanks for educating the casual visitors here to the irrational extremes of terminal America hating wingnuts.

You’ve done your country a great service. Although not exactly in the way you intended.

Tip of the hat to getalife, midori, Cindy, RE, Goldie and the other sane heads here for prodding them into showing everyone what basketcases they are.

“State of Denial” adds new information about Rice’s role in the Bush administration’s efforts to combat terrorism in the months before the Sept. 11 attacks. That subject became a source of controversy this week after former President Bill Clinton accused “President Bush’s neocons” and other Republicans of ignoring Osama bin Laden until the attacks, and Rice responded angrily to the charge.

Woodward writes that on July 10, 2001, then-CIA director George Tenet became so concerned about the communication intelligence agencies were receiving indicating that a terrorist attack was imminent that he went to the White House with counterterrorism chief J. Cofer Black — without an appointment — to meet with Rice, then the national security adviser. He and Black hoped the meeting would alert Rice to the urgency they felt.

But Tenet and Black felt that Rice gave them “the brush-off,” according to Woodward, telling them that a plan for coherent action against bin Laden was already in the works. Woodward writes that both Tenet and Black felt the meeting was the starkest warning the White House was given about bin Laden.

You know what’s funny?

In 1986, after Libyan operatives set off a bomb in Berlin that killed Americans, Reagan responded by launching cruise missles at Moammar Ghadaffi’s HOME! Didn’t kill him, but apparently killed one of his kids.

Nobody (Democrat or Republican) has ever said a word about Reagan ordering an “illegal” hit. Not then. Not now.

But look at the ruckus over what Clinton SAID about trying to off Osama!! And he hasn’t been President for nearly 6 years.

Can you say obsession???

SMELL the hypocrisy! Especially YOU, RW. Plus, you and that drunk tweaker Andy have positively DEFINED “hysterics” with your posts today.

PS - Last May, Bush basically pardoned Ghadaffi for killing Americans when he ordered diplomatic relations with Lybia restored. Forget Berlin. Forget PanAm flight 103.

Maybe Osama’s waiting for HIS “get out of jail free” card? Given the track record of Bush and the wingnuts here, it’s probably uner consideration!

The second most powerful editor at The Washington Times is a white supremacist racist who says blacks are “born genetically 15 to 20 IQ points lower than a white person” and that abortion is necessary “to keep the black and minority population down in this country.” His wife, Marian, confirmed this, on the record, in an interview with reporter Max Blumenthal for the Oct. 9 issue of The Nation magazine.

Francis B. Coombs Jr., the managing editor of The Washington Times, a major media ally of the Bush administration, is described by multiple newsroom sources in Blumenthal’s piece as an unreconstructed “racial nationalist” and a hater of blacks and Jews.

Following Blumenthal’s cover story in The Nation (posted Sept. 20 on the magazine’s Web site), Coombs wrote a letter denouncing the supposed “mendacity” of the piece and categorically labeled its serious allegations as false without explanation.

The serious problem with Coombs’ line of defense is that his wife, Marian Kester Coombs, confirmed his racist white supremacist worldview in her own on-the-record interview with Blumenthal.

Probably a friend of Allen’s.

Not much has changed on the blog since my trip to Scandanavia. Same posters saying pretty much the same things.

When are the wing-nuts going to realize that Bill isn’t president anymore. He’s not in office, or running for office. He did what he did, and that is not going to change. What he did does not make this administration’s lies okay.

The issues of today are much more relevent. Let’s all agree that this administration has lied (much like virtually every administration before it). Now the debate can begin over whether or not these lies are egregious. Have people died because of these lies? Are we bankrupting the country because of these lies? Are we polluting our environment because of these lies? Does the majority of the planet distrust the US government because of these lies? Will the American voters throw the bums out of office because of these lies?

Here is a link from a dub poet who uses the words “genocide and sanitize” together.

This is just the sort of poetry that Sybil Bon finchie would probably enjoy, if not for the fact that it proves you right and her wrong…once again.

Bush. “Cut n run.” This miserable worm continues to hustle his “war on terror” in Iraq. To millions of people who don’t want his definition of “Democracy,” will never accept it, and will increase slaughtering naive American GI’s until the ignorant American masses decide they’ve had enough. This alcoholic wannabe-a-Hitler has destroyed relationships with countries throughout the world that took centuries to produce. Tony Blair, a fine and decent man andleader, loses his job strictly resultant of his association with with the disease which is Bush. Bush is a stench in the nostrils of the very word “decency.” Embrace him further, Republiscum.

My Gawd, it’s pretty obvious that nothing will shut your obnoxious mouth. You’re a prick, plain and simple.

Allaina,

If it breaks your heart to come here by all means don’t. Especially Monday when we rip into the fools that have just made personal attacks on you.

The wingnuts are like rabid little rats this evening, lots of agitation but stuck running around in a cage.

Andy, upwrap your lips from around that bottle and push away the meth. I’m not the homophobe, YOU are.

Foley is a PEDERAST! Now, maybe you (like Foley) LIKE children “that way”. Since you’re defending him, you MUST!

A homophobe and an apiring (I hope!) child molester. How DO you live with yourself?

Short eyes Andy! Andy likes his boy toys!! Is that why you get juiced? Yummmmm… just watch their little legs!!

Now why don’t you, Redundant Windbag and that arab-hating BD go off and play with eachother. You know, in that special way you have. With the pictures and everything.

I’m sure the vodka and the crank will help you and any guests shake off those nasty old inhibitions!

Don’t worry. We adults will take care of the really important stuff. ‘Nighty nite!

Oh RW, get a grip. You’re an ignorant, empty human being who attempts to present himself as something/everything other than what he is. Frightened, weak little right-wing hate monger. Go away and flush yourself to where you belong and can prosper.

Danish: It’s quite possible that finchie could have been the dub poet, Linton Kwesi Johnson, in a previous personality.

Matter of fact, this memory could bring Linton back to life right here on this blog.

Mike Luckovich and the AJC editorial staff,

Please read this post from Allaina at 6:45 pm tonite.

How does it feel to know that your “cartoons” and your sycophantic and often vicious admirers “break the heart” of a young woman whose brother is in Iraq?

Allaina knows who “supports the troops” and who doesn’t.

Allaina,

Please tell your brother that we are filled with gratitude for his honorable service to this country.

Lying Andy (the Bed Wetter) aka RW (the Real Wanker),

You are complete and utter lunatics…jerks of the first degree…nut cases who need to be medicated…you don’t sleep on beds, you just go to a corner of the room, lie down, curl up in a fetal position and suck your thumb while fondling yourself with your free hand.

It’s past your bed time……

You’re right, RW, bush is doing a great job of uniting this country, now. At least last time my husband and I voted, it was for the same man and it wasn’t bush. More and more people are aligning against him. I still say he negatively divided the world.

Although there is ALWAYS a division in every election (check the vote results), most Americans respect and tolerate the elected president. bush has changed that; the country has been heavily divided over the respect and belief issue and it has created more hostility in this country than any time since the civil war.

I don’t see where the “Constitution” was a hater of anything, although that was a questionable statement. The threat to the Constitution is obviously greater here than in Iraq. Many of us have friends and relatives in Iraq, it doesn’t change reality.

I’d like to see a show of hands that think Sybil bon finchie is an adult or capable of even wiping the drool off his chin.

So the frustrated bigot missed me today. Awww, isn’t that cute! I wish the nauseating thing would find someone else to gush over.

Don’t you worry your hateful little mind, potty mouth. I’ll be back sometime next week to humiliate you and your moronic friends further.

What topic should I choose that will amuse us? Anything that requires a modicum of intelligence. Maybe evolution vs. the existence of jesus? (Wow, you looked like a big time major league fool last night!) Or perhaps your definition of conservatism, (textbook or otherwise, is fine). Maybe all those CNN and lib lies about global warming.

So much stupidity and vileness from the far right to be exposed and so little time!

Now, go lie to your children some more.
