My daughter is currently serving in Iraq and, as part of her responsibilities, reads much of the propaganda disseminated there by our enemies. She noted in a recent letter that several pieces urging the killing of more Americans quote Sen. John Kerry (D.-Mass.) to the effect that as more Americans die, U.S. domestic pressure to get out will increase.-HumanEvents

Extracting acts of treason from you maggot liberals has become the enemy’s strategy. They play you for the fools that you are. The World and The United States would be better off if you would just shut your filthy little mouths.

Cut

The American Civil Liberties Union forum-shopped this lawsuit, handed it to a reliably left-liberal Jimmy Carter appointee in Detroit and got its desired result. It probably didn’t count on the extreme intellectual embarrassment of Judge Diggs Taylor’s opinion, however, which is now being noted by left and right alike. The Washington Post called the opinion “neither careful nor scholarly” and “long on throat-clearing sound bites.” A writer for the hard-left Web site Daily Kos called it “poorly reasoned and totally unhelpful.”-WashingtonTimes

It doesn’t take much to impress cartoon boy.

It looks increasingly like this episode will end up damaging the anti-surveillance crowd’s prospects. If this was the best result forum-shopping could produce, it only serves to reinforce the notion that opponents of NSA surveillance stand on far shakier legal ground than they admit.

We do appreciate it.

Those in the new government and leaders of civil society in Iraq are putting their lives on the line every day to advance a democratic society. And it is this that our enemies are most afraid of — not U.S. forces but a real democracy in the Middle East that would showcase human rights, women in politics and the rule of law. And they fear that this “worst-case scenario” could prove to be contagious.-WashingtonPost

Only a sicko, depraved liberal could be against that concept.

Why even have a UN?

In short, it is delusional to think that either the United Nations or the Lebanese military will contribute much of anything to the disarmament of Hezbollah. For the time being, the sides will return to the old pattern: terrorist provocations, half-hearted Israeli retaliatory strikes and U.N. condemnations of Israel. That could change if Iran decides to act on President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s apocalyptic calls for Israel’s destruction.-WashingtonTimes

Cut

The Iraq War is one that is still very much worth fighting. It represents not only the Iraqis’ best chance for a democratic society, but also all that of other people living in the Middle East. It is our best opportunity for removing the oppressive regimes that foment the breeding grounds for terrorism. Sadly, the American electorate of today is not what it was three decades ago. Worse, Ned Lamont and the Netroots, like the Vietnam protesters before them, are in the process of raising America’s white flag of surrender.-AmericanSpectator

Martin Peretz, editor-in-chief of the New Republic and a good liberal, wrote this: “The Lamont ascendancy, if that’s what it is, means nothing other than that the left is trying, and in places succeeding, to take back the Democratic Party. Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and Maxine Waters have stumped for Mr. Lamont….we have been here before. Ned Lamont is Karl Rove’s dream come true. If he, and others of his stripe, carry the day, the Democratic Party will lose the future, and deservedly.-AmericanSpectator

Cut

Ned Lamont is a nobody with money who became the tool of the MoveOn.org crowd and has managed to demonstrate to the world that there is no room in the Democratic Party for candidates or office holders who disagree with the far left belief that our country is the source of all evil in the world. The boys and girls who lionized Che, Mao and Fidel in the 60s and 70s have grown up and are now championing suicide bombers and telling us that the rulers of nations like Iran and North Korea are really just misunderstood. Their own country appalls them and they are convinced that if it weren’t for the United States, the world would be a far safer and more pleasant place.-HumanEvents

“Public land should be public land,” Mrs. Clinton was quoted as saying in The Brooklyn Paper, a community weekly. “It’s not luxury housing we need. We absolutely need affordable housing.” Senator Clinton, who had a chance to live in Brooklyn Heights but chose to split her time between a $2.8 million mansion in Washington that recently underwent an expansion and upgrade that cost an additional $900,000, and a $1.7 million, 5-bedroom house with a swimming pool in the Westchester town of Chappaqua, has the luxury of being against “luxury housing.”-NYSun

Nobody is against the surveilance program!

NOBODY! So let’s stop with all the false accusations.

The question is… Why shouldn’t the President follow the rule of law and get a warrant. That is the LAW! The FISA court even makes it so easy to do! The administration can FIRST wire-tap THEN 72 hours AFTER the fact, they can go back to the FISA court and basically say, “Here’s who we spied on and here’s why… please retroactively approve what we have already done.”

In the 29 years of the FISA courts, there have been over 5000 requests for wire tapping and all but four requests have been approved.

So the REAL question is why does the Bush administration want to wire tap without ANY paper trail???

George

Bush’s attempt to bypass the secret FISA courts to implant wiretaps that would otherwise have been perfectly legal is just another example of the Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Rove cabal’s crude dismissal of the Constitution.

Guess what?? Arrogance breeds contempt.

Which is why 70% of Americans wouldn’t trust Bush to empty the kitty box.

RW,

Thanks to you and Danish for the great description of America’s “useful idiots”. It isn’t hard to identify them. They appear on every political blog just like they do here.

We have those who hate and vilify our elected president, despise every action taken to protect our country against terrorism from airports to communications, disrupt Republican meetings, and support our war efforts by protests, cut’n’run efforts and even fabricating phony military records for the president.

Then the useful idiots wonder why a majority of Americans think they are AGAINST the country. That triggers the old stuff about how good is dissent.

Well, good buddies, that old saying rings pretty true.If you aint FOR us, you’re AGAINST us. And I am talking about our country.

Has everyone forgotten that much of what happened on 09/11 was “predicted” and “detected” during the Clinton administration? And nothing was done about it??! Liberal or conservative, either way, terrorism struck at ALL of our nation, EVERY one of us.

I am happy that the terrorists tried their most recent operation in England and not in the US. Great Britain is NOT opposed to profiling in their security operations — which is one of the main reasons they thwarted the attempt on the six planes. Do you really think the US could have stopped those planes again— especially with all the b*tching moaning about profiling, wire taps, and ‘invasion of privacy’. TAP MY PHONES! I don’t care, do it — you’ll get a pretty good laugh when you hear me telling jokes, swapping recipes and planning my upcoming weekend! Just as long as you tap the bad guys too- and figure out what they’re planning!

I don’t care if you pull me out of a security line to frisk me because of my dark hair and eye color- or because of my last name. Just keep me from being on a plane that blows up or crashes into a building and I’ll be grateful!!

Rushncap is doing really important work, don’t you know. And he wants us to take politics out of the hands of grownups and put it into the hands of “boys and girls”.

From this I infer that we should just use the “election” results from elementary schools where teachers like him can “guide” the students in the voting process.

The other idiot du matin, Cindy, is an important Whistle-Blower who as far as I can tell lost her job at the Pentagon when she said “naneey naneey boo boo” as she walked by the pictures of our Commander in Chief and Secretary of Defense. Dear w00t,

God forbid profiling to make this country safer. I am not saying all Muslims are bad, I would NEVER say that!!

I am attempting to show that “Muslim male extremists mostly between the ages of 17 and 40” are responsible for most of the terrorist attacks on the United States.

“What stopped last week’s terrorist attack was ethnic profiling. We don’t know the details of the British intelligence work that nabbed the 24 Muslims because The New York Times has not been able to obtain that classified information and publish it on its front page yet. But it is a fact that you could not catch 24 Muslim terrorists by surveilling everyone in Britain equally. I think a planeful of Arabs would attract attention — except from people who had recently completed a government training program teaching them not to notice anyone’s appearance.”

So, to ensure we never offend anyone, particularly fanatics intent on killing us, US airport security screeners have no longer been allowed to profile certain people. They must conduct random searches of 80-year-old women, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification, secret agents who are members of the security details, 85-year old people with metal hips, but leave Muslim Males between the ages 17 and 40 alone lest they be guilty of profiling.

And w00t, about your statement that “you’re not going to stop terrorist if you can’t change their ideas”. I dont’ think we can change their ideas— that is why they are called “fanatics” — have you read the articles the AJC has done on Jill Carroll?? She spoke of 5 year old children running around promiting the fanaticism— already saying they were ready to be martyred!!

“Without the ethnic profiling going on outside of airports, no security procedure currently permissible inside airports would have prevented a terrorist attack that would have left thousands dead. We have to target the fanatics themselves. Baby formula doesn’t kill people. Islamic fascists kill people.”

BUSH: What did Iraq have to do with what?

QUESTION: The attack on the World Trade Center.

BUSH: Nothing. Except it’s part of — and nobody has suggested in this administration that Saddam Hussein ordered the attack. Iraq was a — Iraq — the lesson of September 11th is take threats before they fully materialize, Ken. Nobody’s ever suggested that the attacks of September the 11th were ordered by Iraq.”

Can you understand that? CAN YOU? What were are doing now in the middle east is further fueling their cause and breeding more extremeist Muslims. They very fact of us being over there is causing this hatered. This is something that did not occure over night. Someone did not just go, “Hey, lets kill Americans because I do not like them.”

Threats like France saw Greenpeace being right before they sank an unarmed vessel.

Threats to his career that Ted Kennedy saw from driving off the bridge with some woman locked in the car as he swam away.

Threats that Hillary saw from Vince Foster disclosing her lesbian tendencies.

None of these people took it lying down, they fought back.

Still trying to tie Iraq to Sept 11th… There was NO reason to go into Iraq. The WMD claims were based on false intelligence or claims that were several years old. I think it’s funny that people forget that the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA sold IRAQ AND SADDAM chemical and biological weapons for the use in the Iran-Iraq War. Of course we thought he had WMD’s we had the receipts to prove it. However, the ability to produce and use chemical and biological weapons had all been destroyed after the first Gulf War.

So what threats where there? What was there to “fully materialize”? The way I see it, you cant put the lives of thousands of solders at risk because of a “hunch” you have.

What Kool-Aid have you been drinking?? We are not going to “change their ideas.” The hundreds of years of fanaticiscm, propoganda/teachings, and dysfunctional upbringings of Muslim terrorists are NOT going to be changed by a P.R. campaign attempt to make Americans seem like everybody’s friend and/or nice little buddy. THEY HATE US. Everything about our lifestyles, our governments, our families, our freedom of speech, our women who are allowed to show their hair, their ankles, god forbid - a belly button!!

It’s not just Americans, my dearest ignorant w00t. They want to kill essentially ANYONE who does not believe in their teachings. Oppress their women, beat their religious ‘truths’ into anyone who will listen. Human rights abuses happen in many countries, but never to the proportion and the magnitude of what is happening in Iran and other Islamic countries in the name of religion. All the Islamic countries have signed the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights; despite that gross violations of human rights happen in almost all of them.

So, w00t, if you are so intent on changing the fanatic-Muslim perception of the Western world, you better hop on an airplane with a couple million copies of the Bible of Judaism or the Bible of Christianity or the “Bible” of Kabbalah - whatever you choose!! The complete absense of WMDs in Iraq has obscured another simple fact: even if Saddam had some WMDs, he was no threat at all to either America or its allies. He invaded Kuwait once, got his behind kicked, and since then never bothered to threaten any of his neighbors, much less any significant American interest. Even with some WMDs an invasion of Iraq would not have been worth the risk, the lives, the regional instability. Saddam was never a “Hitler”, as some of the more hysterical neo-cons want to claim, he was a regional kingpin, a big fish in a fairly small pond. He has neither the means nor the opportunity to cause America any serious or even minor harm. Even with crappy intelligence, this much was pretty clear before the war ever started.

Cindy who’d rather have terrorists talking to each other here than let our protectors listen to terrorist plans.

Midori, Candide and Getalife who think the war on terror is against conservatives.

The list goes on. Nor should we forget their idols. Luckovich and Cindy Sheehan do their part in aiding those who fight against us.

Was Iraq in 2003 as big of a threat as Iran or North Korea? It was not.

Iran and NK actually had nuke factories then. We knew that in 2003. At worst, Iraq had a pile of low grade uranium. No factories. We knew that in 2003.

What was so threatening about Iraq? Or was this all because Saddam had tried to kill Daddy Bush? Allegedly?

Bush is actually being paid off by Bin Laden!! U read it here first! Bush started the Iraq war to divert attention from Osama so Osama could plot train and plane bombings without distractions. Logical, no?

You are such a man, Mr. Cracker. Just like your hero, Mr. Bush Jr. Won’t ask for directions, wont accept advice or criticism, and God forbid that anyone tell you that youre wrong. So very very wrong.

Dusty,

Getalife keeps talking about supporting Clinton during the war, yet he never tells us what war he’s talking about.

I think he’s talking about the Civil War between croats/serbs+muslims where we carpet bombed from 50,000 feet, but I’m not certain.

There was also the “racist war” that a bunch of Leftists babbled on about at town meetings to discuss what to do about Saddam Hussein’s Iraq and all those WMDs, but I don’t know if that’s it either.

Then there was the war with the warlords in Somalia, but he cut and run from that one. How about the Rawandan genocide, um, civil war where we stood by and did nothing because it wasn’t really a genocide according to Madeline Albright? There were all sorts of attacks on our embassies and military but we never engaged in war as a response to those acts of aggression.

I’m sure I’m missing something. If Getalife doesn’t answer maybe you can help me out here. I wonder if he’ll let us know by the end of the day because the suspense is killing me.

In the end — You have already lost the war against terrorism when you have allowed the terrorist to change your way of life.

Their tactics are to create terrorism and fear amongst us all and to divide us from each other. Many of you are so afraid of the terrorist that you beg on your knees that the heads of government take your freedoms away one by one in the hope that this will afford you protections. You want a government with total control over everything that moves in our society so that the government can stop any evil, sin, or conflict. In the end you will gladly press into service a monarchy, police state, or despotism to replace this free society we have now. You will destroy the very fabric of what a free society is, and simply hand over your rights and control to the governement because they sell the idea so well that they should rule you completely!

Yes - and the terrorist win!~

(food for thought)

“If we find our government in all its branches rushing headlong… into the arms of monarchy, if we find them violating our dearest rights, the trial by jury, the freedom of the press, the freedom of opinion, civil or religious, or opening on our peace of mind or personal safety the sluices of terrorism, if we see them raising standing armies, when the absence of all other danger points to these as the sole objects on which they are to be employed, then indeed let us withdraw and call the nation to its tents. But while our functionaries are wise, and honest, and vigilant, let us move compactly under their guidance, and we have nothing to fear. Things may here and there go a little wrong. It is not in their power to prevent it. But all will be right in the end, though not perhaps by the shortest means.” —Thomas Jefferson to William Duane, 1811. ME 13:29

Thomas,

Oh please, spare us the hyperbole. No conservative that I know of is down on our knees begging to have our rights taken away from us - not even close - and if anyone looks to the government as the great savior, that would be liberal Democrats.

We do want to live and we want to take the most prudent means necessary to conduct a war on many fronts, and the best means to do that is through intelligenc which UNDENIABLY prevents the massacre of human beings.

Moreover, if you’re going to quote Thomas Jefferson, how about a little refresher course in the Barbary Pirates and the First Barbary Wars. History tells us what he thought about appeasing terrorists. Wouldn’t you know it that Congress did not share his wisdom?

Use for the money came in 1785, when the Dey of Algiers took two American ships hostage and demanded $60,000 in ransom for their crews. Then-ambassador to France Thomas Jefferson argued that conceding the ransom would only encourage more attacks. His objections fell on the deaf ears of an inexperienced American government too riven with domestic discord to make a strong show of force overseas. The U.S. paid Algiers the ransom, and continued to pay up to $1 million per year over the next 15 years for the safe passage of American ships or the return of American hostages. Payments in ransom and tribute to the privateering states amounted to 20 percent of United States government annual revenues in 1800.

Ohh —

I agree with Jefferson there - no doubt! Congress ruled in error concerning that situation indeed!

You cannot appease terrorist (of any sort) nor’ bow down to their will. Nor can you bow down to our leaders as if they were our liege as well.

But the one thing you seem to be willing to do Danish (or at least most the Bush Believers here do), is to allow our president total immunity, and the ability to keep all things secret from not only the american people, but also the other two branches of government as well. The judges ruled correctly here and I support their view!

I also believe that the Justice system should also be watched like a hawk as well in all matters of state. That is also a great point in our system where government control can become one sided and dangerous.

With both those points said, (and opposing in this case at that), I beleive the President should follow the existing rules of order concerning wiretapping and not try and do things behind an (un-nessecery) veil of pretended needs. What he is doing is un-needed when he can do the exact same thing by the current law and protocol. And on top of that it is establishing a dangerous environment for potential executive abuse.

The Congress should always be allowed to see what the president is doing or has done in (our) name. Or has our current President decided that Congress is the enemy? Has he decided that only he and his PNAC allies are the only hope for our country?

No I think our president see’s himself as the only one who should hold all the marbles just because he can and no one has stood up to him until now!

Laters everyone — Time for me to go play in traffic.. (and with my big tank that can be fun!)

“Congress WAS kept informed of the NSA program et al- all of it.”

That’s right, and members of Congress, Republicans (like Spector) and Democrats told the White House privately that it might be breaking the law.

They kept quiet about their criticism, like good patriots. The White House schmucks ignored their questions, like the arrogant SOBs they are.

It took the media to spotlight this flagrant abuse of executive authority. Now the emperor really has no clothes, and he’s never looked better.

FYI - legal eagles may be criticizing the mechanics of the decision against eavesdropping, but most aren’t criticizing the conclusion. Ignoring the FISA court was illegal.

Hah! This is a good one. A judge decides that wiretaps are illegal….hmmmmmm…let’s look at this one shall we?

While I can appreciate her weighing in on the merits and spirit of our great freedoms, the beauty of the Jefferson era, the wisdom of those years, the promise of hope….ahhhh, but WE don’t live in that era now do we?

One can only hope that the next plane that is hijacked, the next building that falls, will be occupied by no other than the aforementioned judge and those that would stump for such a short sighted ideal. With any luck, they will actually be IN the plane that HITS the building.

Regretably, it will probably be full of mere mortals such as you and I, quietly serving the public majority, going to and from work and basically harming no one….

Folks, there are two worlds. The world we wish for and the one we actually live in. Based on recent events, one could reasonably argue that I’m right on this and the Judge was well…wrong? Dead wrong.

Quit rolling the dice with American lives. Frankly, we are tired of dying wholesale while someone is worried about a few wiretaps. Tap me all you want, I’ve nothing to hide!

Besides, 2,600 dead US servicemen can’t all be wrong, now can they?
