So the Atlanta Urinal does not consider no terrorist attacks since 2001 to be a good thing:
Security gaps persist- America remains vulnerable, and must act accordingly. Unfortunately, the gap between the president’s rhetoric and what his administration has accomplished is equally crystal clear. –AJC
So if Bush keeps us safe, he gets bashed. If we get attacked, he gets bashed. If he left the toilet seat up, he gets bashed.
Gee, I wonder if the problem may REALLY lie with the “basher?”

Even the Iranian President knows American liberals are stupid:
In fact, instead of seeming like a modern Hitler (a not unreasonable comparison, given that one wanted to exterminate all the Jews while the other wants to wipe Israel off the map), Mr. Ahmadinejad came across as, well, a fairly typical, run-of-the-mill liberal. I listened carefully as he laid out his position on the war in Lebanon and on the Bush policy in Iraq, and I could not detect any significant difference between his views and those held by a lot of blue-state liberals, {{{{especially the liberal intellectuals on our college campuses.}}}} “Killing innocents is reprehensible,” he told Mike Wallace. “Why are Americans killing Iraqis?” he asked. Hey, I just heard the same thing on Air America.-OpinionJournal

Few Americans born before September 11, 2001, will readily accept the explanation that the three Palestinian-American men caught with hundreds of prepaid cell phones and pictures of the Mackinac Bridge were simply trying to make money and doing a bit of sightseeing. And Americans will be glad that accepting this explanation wasn’t the first instinct of law enforcement authorities either.-NYSun

I believe that there is no attack on American culture more destructive and more historically dishonest than the secular left’s relentless effort to drive God out of America’s public square. The United States is the only society that I know of whose founding political document recognizes that each person is endowed by God with the most fundamental human rights. The government does not grant rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. In America’s understanding, these rights come from our Creator and cannot be qualified by any government. It is this fundamental American belief that makes dictatorship morally reprehensible to the American mind.-HumanEvents

Bruce Bartlett, Bush basher and noted pinko scholar because of it, on the Lieberman suicide bombing:
From this history, it is clear that past Democratic purges have only had the effect of aiding the Republican Party. I suspect that the purge of Sen. Lieberman may have the same effect, possibly turning what might have been solid gains by the Democrats in this fall’s elections into modest gains. There are lots of Democrats who think like Sen. Lieberman on Israel and Iraq. They now have no choice but to vote Republican.-TownHall)

Fortunately, a bill introduced by Rep. John Hostettler (R.-Ind.) would put an end to this abuse. The Public Expression of Religion Act would amend the Attorney’s Fees Award Act so that while plaintiffs could still ask the courts to rule on church/state issues, they could no longer receive payment from the taxpayer. That would eliminate the financial incentives for large, wealthy liberal interest groups like the ACLU to take on relatively small church-state cases and reduce their ability to use the specter of catastrophic legal costs to bully small communities into submission.-HumanEvents

Andy,
Thanks for reminding us in your last paragraph about the value of our founding political document. We ought to rememember that every day and be thankful for our government and our freedom.
I am also thankful that we have a strong president who is determined that we keep that freedom and our form of government.
If Luckovich wants to draw the president as a little person with toys on his desk, then let him. A little “child” shall lead us. It certainly won’t be the likes of Luckovich who will protect this country from terrorists.

This demonstrates Mike’s idiocy and zealotry perfectly. I hate to break it to Mikey and the rest of the partisan hacks at the AJC, but Democrats have been politicizing terror as much as Reps. Only a partisan idiot like Mikey really beleives that “his side” is always right.

Great toon again, Mike.
I laughed so hard; I love the way you draw Bush!
Sorry to burst your bubble; but even if I were from Conn, I would not vote for the Republican. I would only do that in local politics, but never at the National level given the current environment.
Again I say; “Stay the course” is a perfect example of Einstein’s theory of insanity. We need a better plan. That doesn’t necessarily mean abandoning the Iraqi citizens like Bush the first did or like Nixon abandoned Vietnam. THIS PLAN DOES NOT WORK!! No wonder honest, intelligent Republicans want to distant themselves.

It would appear that even the venerable George Will is distancing himself from the current administration quoting Mr. Will ~~This farrago of caricature and non sequitur makes the administration seem eager to repel all but the delusional. But perhaps such rhetoric reflects the intellectual contortions required to sustain the illusion that the war in Iraq is central to the war on terrorism, and that the war, unlike “the law enforcement approach,” does “work.”

Our country as we knew it is history. We now have the first dictatorship in our democracy. People are scared to speak out except the brave few like these:
“Cheney’s comments about the election were ugly and frightening. They show that he and his party will stop at nothing. Cheney and his crowd are all for free and open elections - as long as they turn out their way. They are all for free speech provided it supports the administration. They are all for the rule of law - as long as the law does not prevent them from doing whatever they want to do. When elections, speeches or laws are inconvenient, he does not hesitate to declare that they are helping the terrorists. I can think of no graver offense against our democracy.” — Ted Kennedy, finding the courage to speak out against the murderous thugs
And
“Bill Kristol and Charles Krauthammer both said this weekend on Fox that Hezbollah won and Iran has been strengthened. Attacks on the Commander-in-Chief and proclamations of American defeat are ubiquitous - among the same group that insisted for the last five years that such attacks are dangerous and wrong and that talk of American defeat helps the terrorists. …”
There are two US troops and 100 Iraqi civilians killed everyday. The reality is Iran won the Iraq war and Iraq will ally with Iran not us. Yet, people like Jim talk about the deaths will not mean anything if we leave. Guess What Jim, they were wasted and more will be wasted and you promote this idea. It does not get any worse than that.
W will attack Iran purely for selfish reasons. He knows there is no accountability and he can do whatever he wants. He does not want to be a failure in the history books with his failed neo con plan. He is desperate to try to correct this and millions will die because people like Jim cheer him on. It is insane, disgusting and pathetic.
Welcome to the new America.

{“Safa Pizza and shop owner Attia GOUDA were at the center of controversy in October, 2005 when officials temporarily closed down the Baltimore Fort McHenry and Harbor Tunnels in response to a terror threat against both tunnels. During the course of their investigation, federal officials arrested several men on immigration violations stemming from the investigation of the alleged plot. At least two of those arrested were in possession of maps of both tunnels and related information. The men, both Egyptian, were identified as Suied Mohamad-Ahamad, 25, and Mohamed Ahmed Mohamady Ismail, 30, were arrested at Safa Pizza – the same location where authorities found 2 of the 11 “missing” Egyptian students.”}

The dictator Bush wants control of the National Guard over the governor’s objections.
Why?
Check out the recent elections in Mexico and the resulting marches.
The dictator Bush does not enforce the laws on the books.
The dictator Bush writes his own laws to cover for war crimes.
The dictator Bush has robbed the treasury and there is no accounting.
The dictator Bush does not like dissent and Cheney calls voters terrorists with no recourse.
The dictator Bush does not follow the Constitution.
I could go on and on but who is going to stop the dictator Bush?

There are some conservatives here who may be upset with me for sharing this, but here goes.
I just heard a Democrat Party strategist say that their party could do without the help of “radical left-wing bloggers.” Another (D) strategist said the same thing late last week. They didn’t really elaborate as to why, I can only guess.
Did their party just tell them to STFU. Sounds like it.
But hey…I say enjoy your free speech. In the end-game, it’ll help the Republican cause.
I guess you know how Joe felt now, but it looks like he’s doing great in the Connecticut polls, while the “radical left-wing bloggers” have been kicked out of the Democrats pup tent. BooHoo!!

Sorry, Danish, but your ignorance is showing thru again. I was in a very threatening postion in 2003 because of the administration (hint: it was not from the liberal side.) It was the first time my free speech was jeopardized in all my 50+ years of freedom. And later as I asked for “take it to court” type proof before the invasion, my so called president insinuated that I was a terrorist, for questioning his “dictates”. If that is not an attempt at dictatorship, I don’t know what is.
Back in the last century, I used to not like liberals too well; but this administration has taught me to be proud to say I AM A LIBERAL.

I’m ashamed to admit it but I opened one of it’s links against my better judgement. Look what I found:
On February 27, 1968, Walter Cronkite, the longtime anchorman of the CBS Evening News and the gruff but kindly voice of what was then called Middle America, signed off his broadcast on an unusual note. Freshly returned from Vietnam, where the Tet offensive had just ended, Cronkite offered what he called “an analysis that must be speculative, personal, subjective.” “We have too often been disappointed by the optimism of the American leaders, both in Vietnam and Washington, to have faith any longer in the silver linings they find in the darkest clouds,” he said.-1:38
1) Look at these loser liberals worshipping the Vietnam war, is this not a sure sign of how bad things have gone for them since then? Then being their betrayal of an ally that resulted in the cold blooded murder of two million people that counted on them for protection.
2) They worship some TV news commentating a-sshole like he’s a god ascended up from the filthy sewer they think is heaven. These derelict wankers care only about ratings and will say anything to draw these idiots closer to their TV sets.
3) They do all these foul, loathsome deeds in service to the enemies of the very country they live in, and leech off of, if that’s any indication of how utterly depraved they are.
Just some observations.

rushncap,
I hope you are recovered from yesterday’s dementia. Many of us were deeply concerned.
We can debate whether the U.N. was right or wrong to create Israel in 1948. Unfortunately, the U.N. was (and still is) the only body that represents most of the planet…like it or not.
This (GWB’s) administration denounces the U.N. regularly unless it serves their purpose. For example, every senior member of this administration cited the U.N. resolution in the run-up to the invasion of Iraq. However, the USA (all administrations, all parties) have conveniently ignored over 100 U.N. resolutions since 1952 condemning Israel or demanding that Israel act or cease to act. As a member of the U.N. Security Council, the USA has vetoed at least 16 resolutions directed at Israel where the USA was the ONLY dissenting vote cast.
The U.N. has mandated that Israel return the Golan Heights, the West Bank and the Gaza strip…occupied illegally since 1967. Israel (and the USA) ignores this.
Since 1967 the Palestinians have asked the world for help in getting their homes back. To no avail…no one is listening. These people have lived in squalor in more than 200 refugee camps while the Israelis build settlements.
I have said this on the blog many times. I do not condone terrorism. However, the arabs simply want the USA to treat them the same as anyone else. When the entire world ignores the Israeli occupation of palestinian lands for almost 40 years, these people think they have no other choice to get the world’s attention but thru terroristic acts.
If this administration really wants to defeat terrorism, it needs to understand the roots causes.
I challenge you or anyone else to answer the following question truthfully: How do you think Americans would react if another country illegally invaded and occupied parts of Alaska and remained there for 39 years while the world ignored their plight?
Now the smart-as-ses will answer by not answering. Instead they would say something like: Why we’ed just go in there and kick their butts out…some M1A1’s and a few depleted uranium rounds would straighten them out in a hurry. But my point is that the palestinians don’t have F-22’s, M1A1’s, cruise missiles, etc. I believe the truthful answer is: Americans would do whatever it took to get their land back. Nuff said!

Wooten’s (supposed) response was ambiguous and means nothing. It allows you to read whatever you want into it. But then again, Wooten’s column today said we need to stay the course in Iraq because if we don’t, then the American deaths would have no meaning. You just can’t get any dumber than that.

Is Getalife defending the actions of a disgruntled socialist? A close friend of Hugo & Fidel?
The people have spoken Getalife. They took a survey in early August of 600 people, 65 percent of Mexico City residents said they disagree with his encampment strategy and 68 percent said the demonstrations should not continue.
But it looks like you’ve become a true leftist, a “Gore adorer”, so it only stands to reason that you might support the divisive tactics of a socialist.

They did get him back after driving for three hours. Apparently the kid told his 4 year old brother he was going into the store at a rest stop. They left thinking he had gotten into the other car and figured out at the next stop that he was gone. They said the 4 year old kept saying “Jimmy’s gone, we lost Jimmy” all the way through Alabama. When they got back a family had been sitting with Jimmy for six hours waiting. Thankfully the guy was a better tech than headcounter and his family had a great sense of humor about it.

I have never said I was a war hero and you are lying when you say that I have. C’mon RW, prove that I said it. I’ve never even met a real war hero who would describe themself that way. The bet is that I have not lied about my veteran status. And my DD214 will prove it.

Hezbollah has lost it’s power:
Finally, this resolution clearly lays out the political principles to secure a lasting peace: no foreign forces, no weapons and no authority in Lebanon other than that of the sovereign Lebanese government. These principles represent a long-standing international consensus that has been affirmed and reaffirmed for decades — but never fully implemented. Now, for the first time, the international community has put its full weight behind a practical political framework to help the Lebanese government realize these principles, including the disarmament of all militias operating on its territory.-CondoleezzaRiceWashingtonPost
They’re finished.

The wild card in the deal is Hezbollah. As the war dragged on, most pundits judged the group’s leader Hasan Nasrallah the big winner. But that will be true, paradoxically, only if he abides by the deal Siniora made and {{{withdraws his armed fighters from south Lebanon.}}} If he tries to resume the war, or continues to operate as Iran’s proxy, he will lose his new halo. U.S. officials believe that Nasrallah may have resisted Iranian pressure to continue the fight when he agreed to Siniora’s package. Meanwhile the Syrians, Nasrallah’s other patron, played no role at all in the diplomatic outcome, deepening their isolation.-WashingtonPost

Winning the fight is important, not just for political advantage but for the good of the country. The sad reality is that the Democrats have left behind the notion of a loyal opposition and instead become, at least in terms of their national leadership, an outright enemy of all things Bush. They offer obstruction, but no solutions. How would they solve the looming entitlement crisis? How would they have us leave Iraq without it looking like a huge American defeat? How would they deal with Hezbollah? How would they bring down energy costs?-Ame

But it was hard to concentrate on even such important matters as a hostile takeover of the Democratic Party by left-wingers, or further proof that our world is at risk from bloodthirsty, pseudo-religious savages. Even these weighty matters fade from the mind when confronted by scenes of an America still remaining for the most part as so beautifully planned and executed by her maker. Those in this country who question or doubt the importance of defending her against enemies both internal and external, should climb aboard a vessel like the Delta Queen for a while to remember why she’s worth fighting for.-AmericanSpectator

Are academic elites communists?- Often, when people evaluate capitalism, they evaluate a system that exists on Earth. When they evaluate communism, they are talking about a non-existent Utopia. What exists on Earth, with all of its problems and shortcomings, is always going to fail miserably when compared to a Utopia. The very attempt to achieve the utopian goals of communism requires the ruthless suppression of the individual and an attack on any institution that might compromise the loyalty of the individual to the state. That’s why one of the first orders of business for communism, and those who support its ideas, is the attack on religion and the family.-TownHall

And lovers of liberty still have the Reagan winds at their back. America’s sharp downward revision of tax rates is being mimicked in much of the rest of the developed and developing world. A majority of Americans in a Tax Foundation poll earlier this year thought taxes — state as well as federal — should take less than 20% of income, well below even the Mr. Reagan levels. And almost nobody believes government does great at almost anything.-NYSun
