We should be worried about this: The liberal world fears — and much of it loathes — fundamentalist Christians considerably more than it does fundamentalist Muslims.-RealClearPolitics

Every time you liberals open your filthy little mouths:
Our Islamofascist enemies and their allies are convinced that they can defeat us politically. The means by which they seek to do that is by producing a steady stream of bloodletting and mayhem. The results are then incessantly beamed into American living rooms by mainstream media transparently hostile to President Bush and his Iraq campaign. It is hard to imagine a greater incentive to more attacks against Iraqi civilians, security personnel, government officials and their families — and, yes, against our own and other Coalition forces. Call it the “cycle of violence.”-WashingtonTimes

It can’t be said any better then this:
For anyone with even a sliver of sensitivity to see this happening to a people who have already suffered more than any other people in history, is torture. To see George W. Bush stand up for Israel while the left whines about totally meaningless multilateralism — which means asking France to defend Israel, sort of like asking Martin Bormann to defend Israel — is to see clear decency versus a waffling, age-old anti-Semitic sickness.-AmericanSpectator

Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld reminded the panel that the United States and the free world are in a “global struggle against violent extremists.” Rumsfeld’s testimony bears reading and repeating to a large number of people who, in their quest for pleasure and personal peace, appear to lack the staying power required to defeat perhaps the greatest evil the world has ever faced.-RealClearPolitics

Mike, during your vacation it was proven that there are just as many people in Atlanta that can do what you do. For some reason however, you were lucky enough to get into your job. As for this cartoon it once agains shows you are more concerned with your political agenda than anything else. Bush could do exactly what the left wanted him to do on any situation in the Middle East and they would still hammer him for something. Once again going to show that most Americans are more concerned with their party loyalty than they are with actually making things happen in America.

The Democrats, who can smell carrion baggage faster than a flight attendant, decided that they preferred having him (Tom Delay) on the hook (ballot.) So they went to court, claiming that it was too late to remove his name from the ballot. Sure enough, the non-partisan federal court, the same ones that ruled it was not too late to take Torricelli’s name off the ballot in New Jersey — and he resigned much closer to Election Day, determined that he had delayed too long.-HumanEvents

Hank Johnson is running against Cynthia McKinney. McKinney, you’ll recall, is the cuckoo for Coco-Puffs Representative who recently punched a Capitol police officer for the crime of not recognizing her (she refuses to wear her member pin when she waltzes past security), an incident that barely makes her greatest hits list. That list includes questioning Al Gore’s “negro tolerance level” in 2000, suggesting in 2002 that a possible secret plot by the Bush Administration to make money by letting the 9/11 attacks happen would be worth investigating, and accepting donations from people under federal investigation for raising money for terrorist groups (refusing to return the money in a 2002 debate, she said her campaign wouldn’t “racially profile our contributors”). That’s not even counting the open anti-Semitism of her father Billy, who has lamented that “Jews have bought everybody. Jews. J-E-W-S.”-AmericanSpectator

Mike Luckovich,
Having two cartoons in less than a month that look so much alike, seems a bit repetitious. On July 14, you have flames with Bush fishing. Today, August 8, you have the same flames with Bush and a fire hose (with comments implying that it isn’t water).
How about sketching some flames with Hezbollah holding the matches? Call it “Cartoonist Forgets the Culprit”.

I guess this answers the question about how serious Democrats are about corruption. Did I mention that George Soros’ insider trading conviction was recently upheld?
This year’s Hamptons political schedule is unusually hectic for a nonpresidential election year. Last weekend, Attorney General and gubernatorial front-runner Eliot Spitzer held a trio of fundraisers in the Hamptons. On Aug. 19, Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean hosts a $10,000-per-guest fundraiser at the Southampton estate of financier George Soros.

Basically I am questioning the premise of the global-warming alarmists, namely that this is a problem rather than an opportunity. And besides, I distrust their motives. Many are simply panicky people in need of some form of approaching eschatology. These sad folk afflicted with the “true believer” psychology require something large and threatening to worry about in order to give meaning to their lives. It could be anything — Y2K, Ebola virus, bird flu, overpopulation, technological meltdown — any event, trend, disease, or phenomenon which could, under certain implausible circumstances, lead to the end of the world. People derive meaning from these things by being more in the know about this imminent doom than their ignorant neighbors, to whom they feel measurably superior, and whom they must protect from this looming catastrophe whether they like it or not. Global warming is the latest in an endless line of apocalyptic scenarios that have captured the imaginations of the impressionable.-NationalReview

w00t, to me these things are indications of the beginning of decay in an empire. The “screw everyone and everything else as long as I’m comfy” is usually the start of the end. People get complacent. They think they are gods on this Earth, they don’t need to care about the needs of others. Meanwhile those on the outskirts of the empire are working their a*******es off, scrapping by. We are already seeing that, as India is making huge strides to overtake the U.S. as the global power. It’s this nearsighted complacency, this feeling of “I’m on top of the world and this will last forever, and I don’t have to move an inch for that to happen” that really scares me. The U.S. is going to go down as a hegemon, I can feel it, and it scares and saddens me. We are evolving from the land of opportunity to a land of entitlement.

I think Bush’s plan is to expose the flames of tyranny by attempting to establish a model of representative government. Then we have the dems plan of more appeasement and negotiations with the UN as our “throttle restrictor”. I think the dems would simply smother the smoldering region with leaves (resolutions), thereby leaving the embers under a huge pile of paper waiting to erupt into an even larger fire.

“I think Bush’s plan is to expose the flames of tyranny by attempting to establish a model of representative government.”
Oh good one, Scoot-pooter. And now in Iraq, we now have a “representative government” for the majority Shiites who wish to establish ties with Iran and their theocracy… and this is what we’ve sent our sons and daughters over there to be slaughtered for? Over 2500 Americans killed and over 20,000 maimed, and a estimated number of Iraqis killed in excess of 50,000… and you’re proud of Dubya’s so-called success in the Middle East?
Establishing a “democracy” does not guarantee that terrorism will subside, and it does not guarantee that the elected leaders will be friends of ours. You need to stop drinking that bad Kool-Aid still being given out by your War Party!

It may even have a date, indicated by several references by the Iranian president to giving his final answer to the US about nuclear development by Aug. 22,” which this year corresponds “to the 27th day of the month of Rajab of the year 1427. This, by tradition, is the night when many Muslims commemorate the night flight of the prophet Muhammad on the winged horse Buraq, first to ‘the farthest mosque,’ usually identified with Jerusalem, and then to heaven and back (c.f., Koran XVII.1). “This might well be deemed an appropriate date for the apocalyptic ending of Israel and if necessary of the world. It is far from certain that Mr. Ahmadinejad plans any such cataclysmic events precisely for Aug. 22. But it would be wise to bear the possibility in mind.”

chuckles -
I love how people here just think global warming is nothing but (ahem) warming. You guys are too funny - And that article was hilarious (even had some good points on life changes that I loved, even if it wasn’t based on facts of effects)
Yes - Global warming is an overall warming of the planet but it doesn’t just produce heat everywhere. Global warming causes displacements of heat and cold. When the ice caps melt the cold is still somewhere on good ol’ planet earth within our gravity zone and atmosphere, but just somewhere different now where it can wreak even more havok somewhere where there isn’t suppose to be cold. And it will do it probably during the worst unexpected moment.
But yah - Global Warming is not going to be that obvious in our day to day lives. It’s a slow creeping process overall. Long term effects however to our planets ecology could be quite severe though.
I mean in an already overpopulated planet you have to expect something to cause mass die-offs and killings of a species. Disease, Lack of food and resources to survive, Oxygen depletion, War, Global warming, Base human stupidity and error, Andy…etc… There’s checks and balances to man’s expansions.
But then again - I know you all will adapt to Global warming. You will — evolve - move off-world - go extinct - surely something!
I mean Mother Nature has a good way of balancing life on this mudball of a planet and those drastic over-population controls she uses is one of her best specialties! Even if they are a real Mother! (grins).

If Sharia Law is what you think our forefathers had in mind (and I use “our” generously as I somehow doubt that your forefathers contributed jack to this country), then you may be right at home in Lebanon or some other place that used to be a Christian country, but is not any longer. Go for it! They are losing their population in great numbers right now and would welcome a Huge Useful Idiot like you!
Mrs. Godzilla,
As I recall, the last time we “conversed” you came across as a raving lunatic and had to apologize for your, err, “outburst”.
As I say to my little dog when she gets a bit out of control - “settle”.

Danish in Vactionland: I remember my apology for a “chicken-hawk, bigot rant”, while overseas last May, but it was not to an entity calling itself Danish in Vactionland. I may be wrong.
I suspect your definition of the term “raving lunatic” means anyone who disagrees with you. But again I may be wrong.
As I say to my two big dogs, don’t eat the little dog. And again I may be wrong.

Mrs. Godzilla,
I am the same Danish. Your comments, which you had to apologize for, went far beyond calling me a chickenhawk or a bigot. That sort of trite namecalling is something that I am so accustomed to from tedious Leftists that it only makes me yawn.
Nope, you crossed the line of civilized discourse even by moonbat blog standards, and made some very personal attacks that had nothing to do with any political discussion or “disagreement”.
I’m not about to waste a beautiful day going on an archival search to find your comments. Trust me on this one.

I went back and read what I wrore that day and stand by it. Trust me on this.
I do not agree that I “crossed the line of civilized discourse”. If you can’t take the heat…..

Mrs. Godzilla,
I guess you’re very proud of those comments - so much so that you rebroadcast them in their entirety. The apology stuff was pretty good, but it was the preceding comments that weren’t very flattering to you.
I was kind enough not to “go there”, and merely hinted in the most subtle way possible that considering past history it might be better if you kept your distance, but since you opened the door, this is the quote that crossed the line:
“any body with gametes can produce a child. alot of them, including you should not have.
coward.”
You don’t think that that^^ comment is “crossing the line of civilized discourse”?
Fortunately you are not in charge of making these sorts of decisions, and the world is a better place because of the end result - which is a beautiful, charming, brilliant, and accomplished child.
