I never have liked Pat Robertson. Has nothing to do with his new-found views on global warming. Don’t like Falwell either.
They have every right to speak for themselves, but not me, they don’t represent “all” Christians.
But the left has to be able to pigeonhole “all” Christians. It serves their purpose when they’ve got nothing else to offer. It’s those closed “little” minds of theirs. It’s the “one brain for all” mentality that ml promotes here.
Conservatives are too intelligent to allow themselves to be victimized.

You are absolutely right my man. Why are the libs so worried about global warming if human beings are an “evolving” species?
Shouldn’t we, over a period of time, grow some little air conditioning units under our armpits?
Maybe grow another arm that we can use exclusively to fan ourselves with?

If you think I exaggerate the moral bankruptcy of the West or only refer to the serial ravings on the Middle East of Pat Buchanan or Jimmy Carter, consider some of the most recent comments from Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah about Israel: “When the people of this temporary country lose their confidence in their legendary army, the end of this entity will begin [emphasis added].” Then compare Nasrallah’s remarks about the U.S: “To President Bush, Prime Minister Olmert and every other tyrannical aggressor. I want to invite you to do what you want, practice your hostilities. By God, you will not succeed in erasing our memory, our presence or eradicating our strong belief. Your masses will soon waste away, and your days are numbered [emphasis added].”-NationalReview

Hezbollah and its foreign sponsors deserve credit: They understand the perverse psychology of the Middle East. They knew they could launch a war against Israel and then have Israel get the blame for the devastation that inevitably would follow. They knew also that if Israel failed to respond forcefully to their ground and missile attacks, they could say Israel was cowardly. And if Israel did respond forcefully, they could say Israel was a bully, its response “disproportionate” — even while insisting that Israel was doing them no serious damage.-NationalReview

Well said , Steve. “Moderate” Christians don’t want to acknowledge that King George II and almost every other gop “leader” are forever in debt to these American mullahs for bringing out the “faithful” to vote in droves. The agenda of the current republican party is inextricably, and probably forever, tied to extreme Christian dogma, as evidenced by their positions on nearly every important social issue facing this nation. (W’s only veto EVER was on funding federal scientific research to save lives!) So the people here who label themselves conservative, and yet support this junk, are anything but, and probably don’t even know what American political conservatism is. They just like the way it sounds, and it requires no real intellect for them to talk in sound bites. And ironically, this radical religious fanatacism of Falwell, Coulter, et al, is in some ways, eerily similar to that of the muslim extremists…

BTW, I see that ML has some spatial reasoning problems. The freezer portion of the fridge opens from right to left, while the fridge portion opens from left to right.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Gov. Jeb Bush doesn’t think U.S. Rep. Katherine Harris can beat Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson. Neither does the state Republican Party leadership, nor her three former campaign managers.
That doesn’t matter to Harris. Despite a week of bad news for her floundering campaign, she believes the others are wrong.
“We’ll win, so don’t listen to the prognosticators, or the pollsters — you can make a poll say anything you want,” Harris said Thursday at a luncheon. “Don’t be discouraged. We’ve done it before. We’ll do it again.”
As she finished, the 27 Republican women that came to hear her speak applauded and rose to their feet.
Wow! There are still 27 Republican faithful left in Florida. If Harris is counting the votes on this one, she’s sure to win by a landslide.

The anti-science loons just keep the laughs coming! Unable to see the forest from the trees, they totally discount the thousands and thousands of pieces of scientific evidence that point to trending upward temperatures on this planet. Records are falling left and right. A temporary aberration? Possibly. Caused by man and the explosion of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere? Quite possibly.
This is a very, very complex issue that won’t be solved by those who profer heavy snowfalls in Australia this winter or the world’s highest single day temperature was eighty years ago as proof that the overall problem does not exist. Please either join a children’s blog sowmewhere or demonstrate that you have the scientific intellect to talk about this subject in a meaningful way. Getalife, NO! That’s not the plan.
Egypt has it’s own Hezbollah, called the Muslim Brotherhood, packed and ready to join Lebanon. Iraq’s Mahdi Army: Ready to die too. Jordan’s own Hesbollah is barely being restrained.
The moderates in all those countries are losing influence fast.
Here’s what happened: Although the countries involved are not officially invading Israel, the tribal/sectarian reunions becomes a defacto invasion of one country into another.
Egypt will have to use tanks to stop it’s own muslims from attacking Israel.
I dont see any chance that this regional spread of war blows over simply by the US pulling out of Iraq. We’ve already become moot and irrelevant.
To argue about whether we should be there now, or ever, is a red herring.
We have to face the real crisis, updated to include what’s actually happening.

Hezbollah is supported in Lebanon because the Lebanese democracy could not supply basic services to their people. Hezbollah does and has promised the people they will help them rebuild. The democracy in Lebanon is a failure like the one in Iraq. The neocon plan failed.
The total destruction in Lebanon by Israel has enraged the muslim people to support Hezbollah and has made the middle east a total mess.

Let me see, we have limited historical weather data, on a planet that has forever been changing, and scientifically we can say that we are the cause of it? More importantly we assume that we can stop the planet from doing what it has been doing for millions of years? Self important are we?
As the population expands how many more farts are released into the atmosphere? What would be the atmospheric lag time associated with the changes we have made and will continue to make? The lag time would probably be so great that the hystericals would have us over compensate and give themselves something knew to gripe about… I mean progress us towards.
Is a scientist who gets grants to research global warming motivated to debunk warming or motivated to continue his/her cause of receiving grants?

As long as you recognize that fact, fine. Eventually we’ll have someone in the White House who listens to scientists, not shamans or right-wing bloggers. Until that day we’ll keep polluting like there is no tomorrow.
The argument, by the way, comes not from your nebulous “left”, but from science. We simply happen to believe in science. Right-wingers disregard science when it conflicts with their ideology. Hey Even Bush admitted that we have Global Warming problems -
But yes indeed there are so many here that just sit back and say it doesn’t really exist. Well I just love the fact that people don’t realize the danger here as temperatures are drastically changed in various spots around the world — Cold air where it should be hot, and hot air where it should be cold. Temperatures taking drastic shifts worldwide. Ozone layers decaying allowing in more UV radiation to the planets surface (Anyone been feeling that weird sunburn feeling on their neck lately, while not actually having a sunburn there?), And lets not forget the various massive Ice melts around the world such as the recent collapse of a glacier wall in Switzerland due to excess heat in the alps.
Sure — bury your head in the sand - while your at it dig a deeper hole as we may soon be all living underground anyway.
Folks - here’s the deal. If you don’t accept the fact that there is global warming then you are naive and obviously didn’t study your sciences very well when you were in school. Yes - what really does happen when we shift one temperature to another area? You have that wonderful child-like attitude of; Oh - it will fix itself, and we will have sugarplums and licorice strips before bedtime.
You can debate until forever whether this warming is man-made or if it is a natural occurance. Well if it is due to natural causes - then (Oh Well!) we are “like” totally screwed as we cannot stop it no matter what we do. So in that case we better start building those spaceships to leave this “mudball flying through space at incredible velocities” now while we still can.
If it is man-made, then we actually have a chance to correct it so we better start working on it ASAP doing everything in our power to reduce greenhouse emmisions and other environmental related problems. Heck we may even discover a way not to pay Arab Terrorist that Blood — err Oil Money to fund their weapons of mass and minor destruction. Instead of paying them forever, we could develope alternative fuels and power plants and save that money for use in the good ol’ USA. I most certainly hope that the global warming is man-made as there would still be a chance for the human race.
We have had a scientifically verified global temp change of 1 and 1/2 degree’s (measured by various means such as b

Hey scooter -
The HokeyStick method (yes I said Hokey) - was just one method that the scientific community did previous research on global warming trends. There are more defined methods that are quite accurate now involving satellite thermal readings, and atmospheric oceanic measurements of current/flow mathmatics, and lets not forget below ground readings and plate and crust thermodynamics.
You can hold up that old disputed scientific study all you want and it just goes to show how willing you are to carry an old flag into a losing battle.

No as a matter of fact I haven’t.
Just because you are too stupid to put on sunscreen is not a good reason to trash the economy of the United States. Plus it won’t help your neck, moron.
You’re a socialist, right Thomas? Same as getagrip, rushncrap, Hillary and Al Gore, am I correct? Everything that comes out of your mouth leans towards it. Now think about this:
Global warming is a hoax, invented in 1988, that combines old myths including limits to growth, sustainability, the population growth time bomb, the depletion of resources, pollution, anti-Americanism and anti-corporate sentiment and, of all things, fear of an ice age. Those that espoused and supported the old myths have joined forced into a new group called “Environmentalists.”
This is exactly what the deal is, dead nuts center, no doubt about it.
And if you kook socialists think that I’m supposed to believe your nonsense just because it’s summertime, you’ve got another thing coming.
By rushncap

Scooter, “I have a problem with all of it” translated from rightwing-speak means “I don’t want it to be true”. So just say that.
I’m not arguing with historical data. I’m saying 2 simple things. One is that the scientific community is in agreement. Over 90% of those who research the field agree that there is global warming. I guarantee you that if you were sick and someone told you that almost all of the doctors swear that a certain medicine will help you (and the rest aren’t sure, but know it can’t hurt), you’d take a triple dose. Second, we know exactly how light interacts with the CO and CO2 molecules. It’s not hard to multiply. So unless you want to tell us that laws of physics stop applying once that CO2 or CO is in the atmosphere, you have next to no leg to stand on.

Solar energy comes to the earth via radiation (light), much of it in the visible portion of the spectrum. Every day the earth receives a huge dose of solar energy.
That energy leaves the earth via radiation. Because the earth is mch cooler than the sun the energy leaves as infrared radiation.
The atmosphere is mostly transparent to the radiation in the visible portion of the spectrum. It is largely transparent to the radiation in the infrared portion of the specturm, but not entirely. Some gases in the atmosphere absorb infrared radiation. (The two principal atmospheric gases, nitrogen and oxygen, do not.) The atmospherc gases that do absorb are called “greenhouse gases.” One of the greenhouse gases is carbon dioxide.
Combustion of fossil fuels generates carbon dioxide. Fossil fuels are being burned at a level such that the natural mechanisms for removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere cannot remove the carbon dioxide as fast as it is being produced. The added carbon dioxide makes the atmosphre less transparent in the infrared region so energy that could have escaped to outer space (that’s where the energy mostly goes) in a single hop now does not. The energy stays on earth a while longer.
That’s global warming.
Note that while there is a visible trend to increased average temperature over time the real nature of global warming is that the on average the daily solar energy load takes a bit longer to escape to outer space. The daily solar energy load still is fairly nearly 100% balanced by re-radiation of the same amount of energy to outer space but the lowered transparency of the atmosphere to some of that radiation means that on average the energy takes longer to escape.
Increase the atmospheric greenhouse gases and you increase the average global temperature.
(Oxygen and nitrogen gases do not absorb in the infrared because they are homonuclear diatomic molecles and such molecules do not absorb in the infrared. Carbon monoxide, to the extent it is in the atmosphere, is also a greenhouse gas but carbon monoxide almost surely is quickly oxidized to carbon dioxide. Carbon monoxide is a heteronuclear diatomic molecule so it does absorb.)
Not only are fossil fuels being burned at a high level, the rate of burning them increases each year. That means the accumulation of CO2 in the atmosphere goes faster and faster with time. It wold be very useful fo

About ML’s toon:
Rambling around the Net I find more science suggesting global warming is related to human behavior than I find saying the opposite. Most of those denying global warming do so by saying that while there is more CO2 entering the atmosphere, there is no hard evidence that it is caused by humans (read: factories, automobiles, etc.).
That said, I think it is more important to ask the following question: What if those asserting that global warming is real and upon us are RIGHT?
My point being that the consequences of the political right being wrong is planetary suicide.

“Most of those denying global warming do so by saying that while there is more CO2 entering the atmosphere, there is no hard evidence that it is caused by humans…”
Yeah, they have a shifting locus of denial.
What the heck do they think results when you burn fossil fuels? Man digs mineralized carbon and burns it, adding to the carbon in the biosphere and adding it to the atmosphere as CO2. There it stays until something happens to take it out of the atmosphere. analyze the exhaust of a car, a furnace, a power plant: you will find carbon dioxide. Look at a coal mine, consider an oil well: fossil carbon being removed from the earth, destined mostly to be burned, producing CO2. Just how much “hard evidence” is needed? Of course for deniers there’s never enough “hard evidence.”

A shia superstate is inevitable now, unless we are willing to slaughter the Iraqis we just put into power. They’ll just make a declaration for Islam, and that’s that. The Kurds will probably end up having to defend themselves from the Shia just to hold on to the gas fields. The sunnis may hug the Syrian border, as the bathists there are Sunni.
Big Problem: the tribal links from Iraq to Syria are older than the Islamic links. It’s a complex web that’s over 10K years old. Syria may offer the Iraqis passage to Lebanon. That would open up a huge reservoir of Lebanonese army volunteers. Not good. We cant even stop that, not in a million years.
We should assume that if Iran has a WMD, that Hezbollah now can choose to weild it to fend off Israel.
The people we are about to fight now have been democratically elected just the way Bush dreamed they would be. The question of when US troops should pull out of baghdad is a moot red herring. Now, the question is, how can we keep ourselves from annihilating the electorate we just spent 2500 lives ensuring. It’s always an underwriting task, and who would underwrite this?
I demand the resignation of Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld effective noon tomorrow. Let the speaker run things till we decide if we can avoid allowing the Islamist ambush to become self perpetuating, global, and whether we now have to draw the maps of the new era, not by british cartographers, but by Shia Lions……This is all Cheney’s fault. Cheney is a civilian who played the general that is our Commander in Chief, (Napoleans R Us), (post 911), which is the president’s role, thus our presidency was split into two pieces, which weakened our grip on ourselves, and allowed this new era to spring upon us.
The only thing we are united in, is our knowlege that we have allowed our own electorate to have mixed church and state, making “born-again” some sort of evangelical voter ID, and splitting our ballot into moral camps.
We have to share the planet, ignoring God’s commands to us to obtain dominion over it.
We must try to stop ourselves from destroying ourselves for Jesus.

Iranian president Imawhackjob wants to destroy a country of 6 million people because they don’t agree with his religious views and also wants to welcome back the twelve imam, having him descend from “heaven” in a nuclear fire. The libs are basically cool with all this.
By The Way August 4, 2006 07:42 PM Not good. We cant even stop that, not in a million years
And then the pinkos turn right around and call Bush a religious fanatic because he wants peace and freedom in the Middle East.
These libs are freaking weird.
That ain’t no sh-it.
Hopefully, Iran will light up the sky on August 22nd, “surprising” us with something sinister so that they give us good reason to blow their country back into the hell from whence it came.
All we need is a good excuse.

I’ve enjoyed my globally warm day at the pool. If I had my way, I would be able to travel year round, anywhere on the globe, and arrive at a destination where it’s hot. But alas, I am not as selfish as liberals here. I don’t run around hysterically shouting that “the sky is falling, the sky is falling”. Do something now!!!!!
I have always been one of those people who applies the precautionary principle. It’s simple. It requires common sense. If we’re going to do something, we should think very carefully about what the unintended consequences of our actions may be. I think the left-wing extremists have introduced policy into our social structure which are having, and will have a negative impact for years to come. That’s why I’m not a Democrat any longer. I supported some of these misguided policies only to see the repurcussions of my wrong-headed thinking too late. I regret being a part of it.
I’m thankful for world leaders and policy advisors who can see the bigger picture:
Without increasing demand in the countries of the North, there is no way in which the poorer countries of the South will be able to grow out of their poverty. The attempt to cap growth through the environmental proxy of ‘global warming’ is a sleight of hand too far.
Something is being done to address “the possibility” of global warming, without sacrificing the impoverished, it’s just not being generated by the wrong-headed thinking of the left-wing radicals who love their trees, but place people secondary on their political agenda.
And, for the record, I’m one of those people who believes the earth adapts to inevitable changes. Conservatives just don’t make hysterical and hasty decisions. We look before we leap. In other words, “WE THINK.”

Andy (the Bed Wetter) aka RW (the Real Wanker),
Thank you for copying your post from Wooten’s blog. I’m sure everyone will notice that there is nothing there authored by me.
You said (at 6:07) the wager was “ask Wooten”. That’s a lie (typical for you). I ask you to prove it but you can’t.
You posted “here’s a real stroke over on the Luckovich blog, he’s a masher, can’t say one word without getting belligerent, foul mouthed, tells bald faced lies about other bloggers, stalks women on the internet, a real loser, goes by the handle of N-GA. The question is he claims to be a close acquaintance of yours, he’s over there telling everyone he’s a “millionaire” and a “war hero.”
It’s funny bad mouthing me about bad-mouthing others. You’re a hypocrite, but everyone already knows that. You say I tell everyone I’m a “war hero”. Another lie. I’ve never said that and challenge you to prove it…you can’t.
As far as your sarcastic comment about me being a “millionaire”, my $100,000 bet still stands while you still run from it.
You accuse me in your Wooten post of claiming to be a close acquaintance of Wooten’s. Another lie. Prove it.
You must think by telling so many lies in a single post that someone will believe your BS. What a complete and utter loser you are.
IN YOUR FACE, LOSER!!!

Like I was saying:
For those who do not spend their days pulling imaginary bugs out of their eye sockets, “Christianist” is a relatively new term that roughly refers to a virulent strain of right-wing political Christianity that, supposedly, parallels Islamist lunacy.
And though both groups of people may use scripture to shape their approach to the public square, Islamist interpretation of doctrine permits religious expression through suicide-murder, beheadings, public stonings (preferably of women) and Jew-hating, while Christianist doctrine deals in such wimpy notions as forgiveness, tolerance, redemption and cheek-turning. Atlanta teenagers Deon Studiemyer and Sidney Clark attempted an armed robbery of a {{{{{DeKalb County police officer in his Atlanta apartment}}}}}} in the Lake Louise complex on Evans Road. Now Studiemyer is dead and Clark is in the DeKalb County Jail, where he awaits his first hearing.](http://www.ajc.com/saturday/content/epaper/editions/saturday/metro_444dd29746feb0970057.html)
Studiemyer’s brother, Larry, 21, quietly voiced his anger toward his brother’s death. He questioned the officer’s use of force. “Why did a trained police officer, who could have disarmed him in any other way, who could have paralyzed him, why did he have to kill him?” he asked.-AJC
I got an idea. How about if we don’t go invading people’s apartment while carrying guns? Seems like a pretty simple solution, doesn’t it?
Why can’t the “adults” at the AJC figure this out and preempt the ignorance before it gets into print?
Or are there any adults at the AJC? Have they been replaced with robots programmed to sniff out “victims” where ever they can find them?
Do they pay victim locating bonuses at the Atlanta Urinal?

One of Hollywood’s darlings is Michael Moore, who spouts all the anti-Semitic cant fashionable on the far left. getalife is a Liberal. He supports radicals buying votes in exchange for services with his 1:53 post. Isn’t he the one opposed to corruption within politics? He must not see Hezbollah as corrupt. Must be a big fan. Walk away and leave them to continue their corruption of the Lebanese people. Then invite them to knock on his door for more taxes to pay for their corruption.
And even when the battle with the Israelis is over, he adds menacingly, Hizbullah will have other battles to fight. “The real battle is after the end of this war. We will have to settle score with the Lebanese politicians. We also have the best security and intelligence apparatus in this country, and {{{{we can reach any of those people who are speaking against us now. Obviously, when confronted by a statute he believes usurps his powers or otherwise violates the Constitution, the president’s constitutional duties must prevail over any imposed by mere statutes. Presidents have been refusing to implement unconstitutional provisions of statutes since James Monroe was president, and the issuance of formal signing statements either to identify provisions that are inherently unconstitutional that will not be enforced, or to instruct the executive branch how an ambiguous provision is to be interpreted to avoid constitutional difficulties, has a long pedigree, having been by done by Abraham Lincoln, Woodrow Wilson, Theodore and Franklin Roosevelt, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton (who used them far more often than did Ronald Reagan), and many other presidents.-WashingtonTimes

This is not a minor point. The mass murderers who planned and supported the killing of thousands on that day still wish us ill. As long as that is true and they retain the capacity to attempt similar atrocities in the future, it remains a fact about that day that we cannot afford to forget. To the extent that “World Trade Center” encourages us to forget it, it does a disservice to its viewers. “World Trade Center” tells a powerful story about the basic goodness so many people felt and acted on in the wake of a heinous act. But to the extent that it omits any direct reference to the crimes that made those good deeds necessary, its version of the truth is incomplete.-OpinionJournal

But, when an army goes to war against a terrorist organization, it’s like watching the Red Sox play Andre Agassi: Each side is being held to its own set of rules. When Hezbollah launches rockets into Israeli residential neighborhoods with the intention of killing random civilians, that’s fine because, after all, they’re terrorists and that’s what terrorists do. But when, in the course of trying to resist the terrorists, Israel unintentionally kills civilians, that’s an appalling act of savagery. Speaking at West Point in 2002, President Bush observed: “Deterrence — the promise of massive retaliation against nations — means nothing against shadowy terrorist networks with no nation or citizens to defend.” Actually, it’s worse than that. In Hezbollahstan, the deaths of its citizens works to its strategic advantage: Dead Israelis are good news but dead Lebanese are even better, at least on the important battlefield of world opinion. The meta-narrative, as they say, is consistent through the media’s Hez-one-they-made-earlier coverage, and the recent Supreme Court judgment, and EU-U.N. efforts to play “honest broker” between a sovereign state and a genocidal global terror conglomerate: All these things enhance the status of Islamist terror and thus will lead to more of it, and ever more “disproportionately.”-MarkSteynChicagoSunTimes
