Lending Mike a hand
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
When cartoonist Mike Luckovich went on vacation, we asked you, our readers, to pick up the slack. We were deluged with caricatures of Cynthia McKinney, George Bush and many others. Thanks to all who got an entry in before the deadline!
The editorial board picked some favorites. Online visitors were asked to vote for the one they liked best.

Think you can do better?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Then prove it. While Mike Luckovich takes a well-deserved vacation from this space, we are giving you — yes, you — an opportunity to show off your own political cartooning chops. You have one week to produce a political cartoon that expresses your own editorial viewpoint. Our editors will select the best entries for publication next week. Drawing ability counts. Spelling counts. Counting counts.
Entries are due by Noon, Tuesday, July 25. Do not send originals. Please only send one entry. Make it your best work. Please do not send cartoons that have been published elsewhere.
We have nothing to offer in return but a pat on the back and a spot on our page. Entries may be published in print, online or in other formats
Send your entries via e-mail attachment to pcorson@ajc.com, or mail them to the same address found below for the Letters to the Editor. Please include your name, address and daytime phone number.
Now, grab a pen and get to work. You have a deadline to meet.

Voters insensitive to cartoonist’s needs
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
i`m hurt and angry that georgians have knocked ralph reed out of the running for lt. gov. a sleazeball like that would have made my job easy, but obviously, georgia voters didn’t consider MY needs.

Blogging while I’m away
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
hello everyone, for the next two weeks, i’m on vacation and won’t be drawing any cartoons unless something really huge happens.
this will be the first vacation where i haven’t snuck off and drawn a couple cartoons. drawing is so much fun, it’s addicting. but i promised my wife i’d take some time off without working, like most normal people do.
rather than shutting this site down for two weeks , i’ll occasionally blog and if you all want, keep commenting.

I’m b-a-a-a-c-k
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
hello, everyone. i’ve returned from vacationing in florida. there will be a cartoon in thursday’s paper, but i haven’t settled on a topic yet. most likely, it’ll be on the stolen coke formula caper.
while at the beach in florida, i started reading ron susskind’s new book, the one percent doctrine. it is great. i’m only 100 pages in. (i have four children, so it’s hard to find reading time, even on vacation)
it”s an excellent behind-the-scenes account of what transpired after 9-11. so far, it’s been a sympathetic account of the administration’s struggles to go after the terrorists. both liberals and conservatives should buy this book.
on a different subject, this paragraph in the july 4th column by nicholas kristof really stood out-
“When I was covering the war in Iraq, we reporters would sometimes tune to Fox News and watch, mystified, as it purported to describe how Iraqis loved Americans. Such coverage (backed by delusional Journal editorials baffling to anyone who was actually in Iraq) misled conservatives about Iraq from the beginning. In retrospect, THE REAL VICTIMS OF FOX NEWS WEREN’T THE LIBERALS IT ATTACKED BUT THE CONSERVATIVES WHO BELIEVED IT.
